Marlene Ann (Chopp) (Taylor) Barton was born on January 13, 1938 in Belleville, Kansas to Glenn and Libbie (Fiala) Chopp of rural Narka, Kansas.&nbsp; She was their most treasured daughter.&nbsp; She departed this life peacefully on February 14 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 85 years.

Before attending Bethlehem school, Marlene had to first learn to speak English, as Czech was the predominant language in their home.&nbsp; Her Grandpa Chopp paid the teacher to tutor Marlene that summer.&nbsp; She graduated from Narka High School in&nbsp;May 1956.&nbsp; 

After having met Darrel Taylor, a dashing young man from Narka’s rival school, Mahaska, the two fell in love and were united in marriage on September 2, 1956.&nbsp; Darrel and Marlene were blessed beyond measure with three beautiful daughters:&nbsp; Pamela,&nbsp;Kathleen, Diane.

Once Diane was born, Marlene was hired as bookkeeper for the Hess Oil Company in Mahaska.&nbsp; In 1970, she began her employment at USD 221.&nbsp; She continued as clerk of the Board of Education for the district until it was consolidated with Washington in 2006, having served the district for 36 years. During that time, Marlene touched many lives. She counseled, she cheered, she guided, she hugged and loved many students, parents, administrators,&nbsp;teachers and staff members. Since that time, she has continued to show her love and support to all who’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with her.&nbsp; She truly was a Mom and Bubie to so many.

To help sustain Mahaska and surrounding communities, Marlene and Darrel purchased the local grocery store and transformed it into The Flying Cob Cafe. By this time, Pam and Kathy were able to run the cafe during the summer months. Marlene began making her now infamous long johns during their café-owning tenure.&nbsp; People would come from near and far for one of her long johns.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Marlene lost her handsome cardinal, Darrel, in 1987 to cancer.&nbsp; She was heart-broken.&nbsp; When she least expected it, who should come riding in to sweep her off her feet but Black Bart&nbsp;(aka Richard Barton), that ornery cowboy from Nebraska. It’s no surprise that Marlene was lucky in love… twice.

Marlene was an active member of the Mahaska Presbyterian Church, where she was the organist for over 50 years.&nbsp; She was a member of the local ladies pinochle group, playing monthly until it was disbanded. The legacy of the long johns continued as Mahaska Propane became the gathering place for ladies (and gents too) on Thursday morning “Chit Chat!”&nbsp; What a camaraderie for friends, family, and farming (and anyone else).&nbsp; 

She was an active member of the Narka Bible Study, a 4-H sewing project leader, and she led the Mahaska Merrymakers to&nbsp;square dance regional titles!&nbsp; While remaining faithful to two husbands, she also loved “her Bill” (Self) and watching the KU Jayhawks basketball games. She enjoyed watching all sports, but cheering for the Chiefs and the Royals were right there at the top!&nbsp;&nbsp;

Marlene grew up farming with her dad, so gardening became a natural pastime for her.&nbsp; She enjoyed her vegetables and her flowers too spending much of her time outside.&nbsp; During the winter months, she spent her time watching Hallmark movies or forgotten westerns while stitching up some beautiful handcrafted items.&nbsp; If you received one of these, you know how much care and love were sewn into each.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Libbie, her husband Darrel and her husband Richard.&nbsp; 

She will be forever lovingly remembered by her daughters&nbsp; Pamela (Kirk) Gallion, Mahaska, Kansas, Kathleen Taylor (Tony Nemec), Overland Park, Kansas, and Diane (Lyle) Thompson of Washington, Kansas; grandchildren&nbsp; Lindsay (CJ) Mettlen, Wilson, Kansas, Tahra (Jared) Zenger, Shelby (Colter) Brzon, Tosha (Travis) Smith, all of Haddam, Kansas, Taylor Thompson (Skylar Constable), Minneapolis, Kansas, and Cole Thompson, Overland Park, Kansas; great-grandchildren&nbsp; Banks Mettlen, Jocelyn and Forrest Zenger, Brevin and Jaelynn Huckett, Kohen and Kathryn Jo Smith, Oliver and Evelyn Constable, and Briar Brzon.&nbsp; She will be missed by a plethora of family and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Mahaska; burial will follow at the Mahaska City Cemetery.

SALINA, KS –&nbsp;Joyce Marrs&nbsp;passed away peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2023 with her husband Leon Marrs at her side.&nbsp; She was 88 years old.&nbsp; Joyce was born May 21, 1934, to Neal and Eunice (Fuller) Lyne.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School.&nbsp; 

Joyce and Leon were married February 23, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Lamar, KS. &nbsp;

At the beginning of her career, Joyce held clerical and office management positions.&nbsp; She was the administrator of Crestview Nursing Home in Bennington and held a number of health care positions focusing on seniors. &nbsp;

Joyce was a member of the Salina First United Methodist Church, American Business Women’s Association, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha International service sorority.&nbsp; In addition to leadership positions in her local chapters, Joyce served as the Kansas State President of ESA in 1979 – 1980.&nbsp; She was a tireless volunteer in her church and community. &nbsp;

Family and social connections were important to Joyce.&nbsp; In the last year she was able to attend her high school reunion and celebrate the 70th anniversary of her graduation, attend her oldest grandson’s wedding, welcome her first great-grandchild, and attend her only granddaughter’s wedding.&nbsp; She passed away just twelve days before she and Leon would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband Leon of the home; daughter Valeria Edwards and her husband Scott Boster, son Meredith, and wife Cheri Marrs; also surviving grandchildren Neal and Andrea Edwards, Chad and Megan Edwards and great-grandson Peyton, Clayton Marrs, and Mallory and Mark Connors, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. &nbsp;

A memorial service is being planned for May 2023.

Michael F. Renk, 75, sadly left us on February 15, 
2023. Mike is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Hernandez) Renk; son 
Michael Renk and his wife, Ann Marie Allison of Arvada, Colorado; son 
Matthew and his wife, Heather Renk of Atchison, Kansas; and 
grandchildren Kyler, Kaleb (Mackenzie Bogart), Jordyn, Damien, Nina 
Marie, Maria, and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Hadleigh. He is 
also survived by his brother Francis (Tony) Renk and his wife, Cookie, 
of Panama City, Florida, and his twin brother, Pat Renk, of the Chicago 
area.&nbsp;

Mr. Renk was born on March 18, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Francis
 and Catherine Renk. He served in the United States Army during the 
Vietnam War. Mike married his wife of 54 years on December 6, 1969, in 
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Salina. After three years of service
 in the military, he received his master's in Business in 1997 from 
Kansas Wesleyan University. &nbsp;

He worked as an accountant for Kansas Technical Institute and Kansas 
State University before becoming the Vice-President of Finance for North
 Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

After retirement, Mike and Bea moved back to their home in Salina, 
KS. He was an active member of the VFW in Salina, where he volunteered 
as a Quartermaster for five years. Mike was an avid golfer, playing in 
Salina with his golf buddies Ken Bernard and Jake Greenup and courses 
across the country as he traveled for work.

Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery this summer. There will be 
no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial 
donations to St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church or The Salina Veterans of 
Foreign Wars.

Sandra Sue Meadows, 72, of Gypsum passed away 
Saturday, February 11, 2023. Sandra was born January 9, 1951, in Sharon 
Springs, Kansas, to Walter and Thelma (Miller) Kowalke.

She was a care giver for Bethel Bower for over a decade while being a
 devoted mother and wife/host to several Meadows adventures. She was a 
veteran of the Vietnam War. She always had time for her family and was

Linda Sue Anderson passed away on February 13, 2023.
 She spent her life in Salina, Kansas, &amp; Oxnard, California, born on 
July 31, 1949, to Delbert &amp; Wanetta Anderson. &nbsp;

She started her career as a surgical nurse, unfortunately she broke 
her back and had to restart her life by walking again and re-educated 
herself. She attended Ventura College and University of La Verne earning
 her a Bachelor of Science as a Mathematic Engineer.&nbsp; She found her 
passion as a Logistic engineer for a U.S. Military contractor.&nbsp;&nbsp; Before 
retirement she was working alongside the U.S. Army in Germany.&nbsp; She 
dedicated herself to taking care of others doing home health care, and 
her last dedication was taking care of her eldest daughter, Sheri.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Outside of work, Linda was a single mother to 2 daughters as she 
dedicated her life to them.&nbsp; She loved to cook &amp; helping others 
including her neighbors &amp; her family members.

She is survived by her children &amp; their husbands, Sheri &amp; 
Mannoj and Jerri Lynn &amp; Joseph; grandchildren Blake &amp; Amber and 
Desiree &amp; Tony and great grandchild Jayce. Siblings, Bonnie Lou, 
Gary &amp; Christie &amp; nieces &amp; nephews. Linda was preceded in 
death by each of her parents &amp; her brother Darrell.

It is clear how many lives she has touched throughout her life from 
family, friends and neighbors. Linda was incredibly kind-hearted (a 
little hardheaded), given &amp; loving. She will be deeply missed. A 
special thank you to Chris &amp; Stephanie Anderson.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Celebration of life will be held on March 11, 2023, at Ryan Mortuary

Jason Robert Duffy, 37, of Salina, passed away 
Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Jason was born May 8, 1985, in Salina to 
Micheal and Sarah Duffy. Jason was born with amniotic band syndrome. 
Despite his anomalies, he was an outstanding and dedicated athlete. 
Jason was proud to be a part of the Central Mustang back-to-back state 
championship teams. Jason loved wrestling and was a three time state 
qualifier taking third his senior year. He recorded 25 wins by pin in 
one year. He also was a state championship weightlifter. Jason attended 
Coffeyville, Friends, and Bethany.

Jason had a great love for the outdoors that included fishing, 
hunting, and biking. Jason had a big heart and an infectious smile. He 
had a love for animals, especially his cats. Jason loved giving hugs and
 family meant so much to him.

Jason is survived by his mom and dad, Mike and Sarah Duffy; his 
sister, Megan Hoover (Jayme), youngest sister, Andrea Duffy (Josh Wood);
 nieces, Lana and Lola Hoover and Gabby Wood. Jason also had many aunts,
 uncles, and cousins that meant a lot to him as well.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 
2023, St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E Cloud, 
Salina, KS 67401.

Kathleen Sue (Rome) Gross, age 70,&nbsp;of Hays, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023,&nbsp;at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

She was born January 18, 1953, in Hays, Kansas to Wilfred and Fidelia (Schmidt) Rome. &nbsp;She married Daniel Andrew&nbsp;“Danny”&nbsp;Gross on May 13, 1978, in Hays, Kansas.

Kathleen was a homemaker,&nbsp;worked at Travenol Labs, Vernie’s Hamburger House; and was a volunteer at the Community Assistance Center in Hays for over 30 years. &nbsp;She grew up in Russell, Kansas and was 1971 graduate of Russell High School, and during high school she worked at the Russell A &amp; W. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, Daniel&nbsp;“Danny”&nbsp;Gross, of the home;&nbsp;her children, Cody Gross,&nbsp;Hays, KS; Lacy Gross-Augustine and husband, Bryce, Gardner, KS; her grandchildren, Addisson and Camden Augustine; her brothers, Bill Rome and wife, Marsha, Houston, TX;&nbsp;Delmar Rome and wife Deanna, Russell, KS; Jim Rome and wife, Lynn, Salina, KS; her sisters, Linda Rome, Hays, KS; Charlene Petty, Olathe, KS.

Patricia M. “Pat” Nielander, the daughter of Herbert Ross and Carol Eudora (Brindle) Ross Johnson, was born October 12, 1946 in Concordia, Kansas and passed away on February 14, 2023 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 2 days.

Pat grew up in the Courtland and Formoso, Kansas area, graduating from Courtland High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

She was a waitress in restaurants in Pamona, Salina, and Belleville, Kansas at the Bel-villa and later was a bail bondsman in Glasco, Kansas.&nbsp; &nbsp; Pat then worked for Scott Specialty’s for several years until her retirement.

Pat was united in marriage to Virgil Kiedar Sidders, Sr. and they were later divorced.

On May 13, 1979, she was united in marriage to Wayne Nielander.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on August 21, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, son Kiedar “Sid” Sidders on April 15, 2015, grandson Ryan Kiedar; and her sister Barbara.

Pat is survived by one daughter, Heather Burk, of Belleville, Kansas;&nbsp; three grandsons, Dalton Burk of Henrietta, TX, Dustin Burk and Ryan Burk both of Belleville, KS;&nbsp; three great-grandsons, Riley, Jasper, and Dawson;&nbsp; sister Laura Ross, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; other relatives, and friends.

John’s life began on June 29, 1945, in Wichita.&nbsp; He is the son of Newton and Laura (Armstrong) Griffith.&nbsp; 

John was united in marriage to Mary Konarik on August 16, 1969, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.&nbsp; 

He had been employed as a sales representative for several area businesses including Hillsboro Industries, and Hallmark Cards. John also sold insurance, real estate, and farm equipment during his career.&nbsp; 

He was a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Marion, where he served as an eucharistic minister, lector, usher and had been active in the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; 

John had an amazing memory, and a heart of gold.&nbsp; He volunteered his time to many worthwhile groups including AA and Al-Anon and he was an avid reader.&nbsp; John had unconditional love for his family and friends.&nbsp; He enjoyed basketball and football from his earliest days at Emporia State and Kansas University.&nbsp;

 John is survived by his wife Mary of Marion; children John (Jessica) Griffith of Emporia, Bill (Stephanie) Griffith of Fruita, CO., and Michelle Griffith of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren and his sister Michelle Siegfried of Topeka.&nbsp;

 John passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Marion.&nbsp; 

He is preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp; 

A prayer vigil will be held on Thursday February 23rd&nbsp;at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Marion.&nbsp; Rosary will be prayed on Friday February 24th&nbsp;at 10 a.m. at the church followed by his Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Isaac Coulter.&nbsp; John will be laid to rest in the Griffith Cemetery, Cedar Point.&nbsp;

Tom’s life began on October 8, 1949, in Hillsboro.&nbsp; He is the son of Martin B. and Magdalen (Tajchman) Klenda.&nbsp; 

Tom graduated from Centre High School and went onto earning business and psychology degrees from Emporia State Teacher’s College.&nbsp; 

He was united in marriage to Carol Lukert on October 29, 1988, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend.&nbsp; 

Tom was employed by Cargill in Wichita and retired from its soybean plant.&nbsp; He continued to farm and ranch in rural Marion County until his passing.&nbsp; 

He was an avid sports fan, enjoying playing sports when he attended Centre High and was on the football squad at Emporia State. 

Tom enjoyed a good farm auction and being together with his family whether it was hauling hay or bringing home auction buys.&nbsp; 

He was a parishioner of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.&nbsp; 

Tom is survived by his wife Carol of rural Tampa; son Matthew (Elanor) Klenda of Marion; grandsons James, Daniel, and Nolan Klenda; siblings Dr. &nbsp;Martin (Frannie) Klenda of Beloit, Ben ( Mary Lou) Klenda of Wichita, Joe Klenda of Wichita, Patrick Klenda of rural Marion, John (Pam) Klenda of McPherson, Mark Klenda of rural Marion, Mike (Janiece) Klenda of La Crosse, Mary Jo (Denny) Dlabal of Manhattan, Sharon Hatfield of Tucson, Arizona and Susan ( Joe) Ragole of Centerville, VA and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

Tom passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, near Tampa. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David Klenda. 

Tom’s family will gather with friends on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 5-6 p.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen for a visitation followed by vigil prayers and rosary beginning at 6 p.m.&nbsp; Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Isaac Coulter on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the church at 10:30 a.m. with a rosary at 10 a.m. Tom will be laid to rest in Pilsen Cemetery following the Mass.&nbsp;

Kathryn Ann Sage, age, 73, passed away on February 9, 2023, at the Resident Care Center&nbsp;(RCC) in Beloit, Kansas. She was born on February 11, 1949, to Sever and&nbsp;Ruth Brevick in Eua&nbsp;Claire, Wisconsin. 

Kathryn spent the beginning of childhood between Wisconsin and the Hi-Linein Montana. &nbsp;Her parents divorced and her mother remarried Robert Chinander who adopted her&nbsp;after the family relocated to White Sulphur Springs (WSS), Montana. Kathryn spent the next&nbsp;forty plus years of her life near WSS. Kathryn has many memories of playing with her brother and&nbsp;sister near the Smith River. Kathryn was close friends with Sandie and Sharyn Sage and&nbsp;spent time&nbsp;on the Wisdom Ranch. 

In 1969, Kathryn married Kenneth Sage and this union resulted in four&nbsp;children: Dwight, Christine, Kevin, and&nbsp;Wellington. Kathryn was an excellent homemaker and&nbsp;excelled in helping her in-laws, Shum (Claude) and&nbsp;Florence Wisdom, who lived down the&nbsp;road. &nbsp;Kathryn was a talented seamstress and&nbsp;enjoyed making quilts on snowy days. 

During the&nbsp;holidays, she enjoyed making trays of baked goods for her family and friends. She held various&nbsp;jobs in WSS depending on her family’s needs and&nbsp;the fluctuating economy. 

After her three oldest&nbsp;children graduated from WSS, the Sages moved to afford Kathryn the opportunity to attend&nbsp;college. Kathryn graduated from the College of Great Falls. The Sages relocated again to follow&nbsp;their oldest children to Kansas. The Sages later divorced but remained friends as they finished&nbsp;raising their youngest son. 

Kathryn worked for the Veteran’s Affairs (VA) in Leavenworth then&nbsp;was transferred to the Salina VA Outreach Clinic. She retired and relocated to Beloit to be closer&nbsp;to family. Kathryn enjoyed attending her granddaughters’ school events and&nbsp;stayed active until her&nbsp;health declined. 

Kathryn was always strong in her faith and enjoyed listening to scripture.

Kathryn left behind many loved ones including her sister Lucille (Bill) Zuidema, Kathryn’s&nbsp;children and their families: Dwight (Dawn) Sage and&nbsp;family, Christine (Joe) Witt along with&nbsp;Elizabeth Witt and Victoria Witt, Kevin (Sheena) Sage and Gian Ramon Bacaron, Wellington&nbsp;(Megan) Sage along with Elliot Sage and&nbsp;Isiah Sage.

Kathryn’s nieces and nephews include Dan (Amy) Tousley and&nbsp;family, Shummonda Tousley&nbsp;Senters, Jeannie Zuidema, John (Lori) Zuidema and&nbsp;family, Marianne (Donald) Loose and family,&nbsp;Linda&nbsp;(Chad) Cline and family.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and&nbsp;Robert Chinander, Sever Brevick (biological&nbsp;father), Dwaine Chinander (brother) and&nbsp;great-grandson Knox Dwaine. &nbsp;

Kathryn cherished the many friendships that she has made over the years.

John Craig Young, age 58, former Hays, Kansas, resident, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.

He was born March 14, 1964, in Hays, Kansas, to Edgar Batson and Betty Lee (Wallerstedt) Young.

John was a bartender at the HOME Party Club in Hays for a number of years. &nbsp;He grew up in Hays, was a graduate of Hays High School, attended the First United Methodist Church in Hays, and moved to Salina in &nbsp;2009. &nbsp;John enjoyed his friends, and was a good kind-hearted caring person.

Survivors include his brothers, Willian L. Young&nbsp;and wife, Francine, Saida, TX;&nbsp;Robert K. Young, Salina, KS; Walter Benjamin&nbsp;Young, Colby, KS; his sisters, Karen Keevert&nbsp;and husband, Gary, Enterprise, AL;&nbsp;Kristin Tardif&nbsp;and husband, Michael, Fort Smith, AR;&nbsp;his sister-in-law, Karen Young, Herford, AZ;&nbsp;a&nbsp;number of&nbsp;nieces, and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brent Wayne Nelson, 68, of Falun, KS, died peacefully February 9, 
2023, of throat cancer at Hospice House, Hutchinson, with his older 
brother by his side. He returned to the earth shrouded in his favorite 
Pendleton wool blanket February 13, 2023, in a green burial at Heart 
Land Prairie Cemetery, New Cambria, Kansas.

Brent was the son of Darald (Mannie) Nelson and Ruth (Dolly) Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darald (Mannie) Nelson.&nbsp; 
Brent is survived by: his mother, Ruth (Dolly) Nelson of Bethany Home, 
Lindsborg; brothers, Edwin (Elizabeth) of Walpole, MA and Ward of 
Smolan, KS; adopted daughter, Alyssa Gaede of Colby; grandchildren, 
Daniel, Mali and Maja Crawford; nephews, Erick Nelson of Portland, OR, 
Mark Nelson of Honolulu, HI, Jon Nelson of Providence, RI; niece, Anna 
Nelson of Denver, CO; and former wives, Donna Sheer and Debra Fisher.

Brent was born March 9, 1954, and raised on the family farm a 
half-mile west of Smolan, KS.&nbsp; He attended Smolan Grade School and 
graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1972, followed by studies at 
Salina Area Vocational Technical School.

Brent is The Brent Nelson of the “Brent Nelson Special” Sandwich at 
the Öl Stuga, Lindsborg, that was featured on Good Morning America in 
November 2010! &nbsp;Brent was a product developer at Great Plains 
Manufacturing, Salina, where he worked from 1987-2017.&nbsp; While there, he 
developed several patents for seed planting delivery systems. In 
addition, Brent’s marksmanship with handguns gained him national 
rankings and recognition. Native American culture was a passion 
throughout his life that culminated in constructing a Lakota Sweat Lodge
 and conducting ceremonies on the family farm.

Spiritual, creative, insightful, brilliant and kind, Brent listened 
to a different drummer and was a source of wisdom for those who had the 
pleasure of knowing him.

Brent is survived by: his mother, Ruth (Dolly) Nelson of Bethany Home, 
Lindsborg; brothers, Edwin (Elizabeth) of Walpole, MA and Ward of 
Smolan, KS; adopted daughter, Alyssa Gaede of Colby; grandchildren, 
Daniel, Mali and Maja Crawford; nephews, Erick Nelson of Portland, OR, 
Mark Nelson of Honolulu, HI, Jon Nelson of Providence, RI; niece, Anna 
Nelson of Denver, CO; and former wives, Donna Sheer and Debra Fisher.Brent was born March 9, 1954, and raised on the family farm a 
half-mile west of Smolan, KS.&nbsp; He attended Smolan Grade School and 
graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1972, followed by studies at 
Salina Area Vocational Technical School.Brent is The Brent Nelson of the “Brent Nelson Special” Sandwich at 
the Öl Stuga, Lindsborg, that was featured on Good Morning America in 
November 2010! &nbsp;Brent was a product developer at Great Plains 
Manufacturing, Salina, where he worked from 1987-2017.&nbsp; While there, he 
developed several patents for seed planting delivery systems. In 
addition, Brent’s marksmanship with handguns gained him national 
rankings and recognition. Native American culture was a passion 
throughout his life that culminated in constructing a Lakota Sweat Lodge
 and conducting ceremonies on the family farm.Spiritual, creative, insightful, brilliant and kind, Brent listened 
to a different drummer and was a source of wisdom for those who had the

Earl Jens Hansen, 95, Salina, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2023. He was born May 15, 1927 in Tescott, KS, the son of Jim and Ludia (Werries) Hansen. 

He joined the Navy right out of high school and after serving his country, he was employed by J.S. Frank Construction for many years. He retired with Harbin Construction. 

He was a life member of the Salina Elks Lodge 718 and was a member of the Tescott American Legion for 75 years. 

He was an avid K-State Fan attending many football games to cheer on his beloved wildcats.

He was preceded in death by his sister Mariel Lee and his son Jimmy Leroy Hansen.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie A. (Schwarz) Hansen; daughter Jennifer Dolif (David), Phippburg, CO; stepdaughter Paula Smith, Wichita, KS; daughter-in-law, Deb Hansen, Salina; granddaughters Brooke Retzlaff (Jarrod), Salina and Paige Hansen, Denver, C0; grandson Caleb Dolif of Colorado, and great-grandson Mason Retzlaff, Salina.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 743 E. Magnolia Road, Salina, with military burial honors presented by the U.S. Navy.

Campbell in Little River, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Jamie and Jennifer.He attended Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson.Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Hamel of Edmond, OK and Jennifer Bontrager (Brian) of Yoder, KS; siblings Jeanene Krough (Mark) of Randolph, VA, Darrell Becker (Shelly) of Coffeyville, KS, and Sandra Thomas of McPherson, KS; two grandchildren, Michael Bontrager and Daniel Bontrager; and many more extended family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 22, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev.
