Connie Sue Richardson, age 73, of Pomona, KS, passed away November 17, 2023, at AdventHealth Ottawa.
Connie was born October 1, 1950, in Westphalia, KS, the daughter of Leonard Mattson and Gearldine (Atkinson) Mattson. Connie grew up and lived almost her entire life in the Franklin County area.
Connie was a waitress at L & L Café, Ottawa and Reno’s in Ottawa. She baby sat for many years for family and friends. She worked for almost ten years at MAC Fasteners, Ottawa, as an assembly line worker.
Connie loved to fish. She enjoyed being out in nature and fishing was the perfect opportunity for her to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always finding extra time for them to spend with her. One way she showed her love for her entire family was through her cooking. She was an incredible cook and made many wonderful meals for her loved ones but she was most famous in her family for her baking, especially her cookies.
On January 20, 1972, Connie was united in marriage to Billy D. Richardson in Pomona, KS. They shared fifty years of marriage until Billy passed away on December 29, 2022.
Connie is also preceded in death by her parents, Leornard and Gearaldine Mattson; and three sisters, Betty LaRue, Bonnie Brannan, and Sandy Glazer.
She is survived by two children, Billy Richardson, Jr., Pomona, KS, Andy Gunn, Elizabethtown, TN; three siblings, Donna Weiderholt, Ottawa, KS, Buella Grahm, Iowa, Ray Wards, Garnett, KS; four grandchildren, Britten Richardson, Ottawa, Nova Richardson, Pomona, Billy Lamm, Ottawa, Cullen Streeter, Walsenburg, CO; and three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Elinor, and Olivia.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS. The family will greet friends for a visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.
