Douglas Glen Gray&nbsp;was born January 29, 1934, and died April 25, 2023, in the care of hospice at home in Salina, Kansas. 

Doug was known by many as a man of great faith and principle. He lived life with an attitude of joy and sharing God’s love with those who crossed his path. He loved and supported his family, and his granddaughters were ‘his joy’.

Doug was born in Wichita, and, during his life, he lived in many places in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and finally in Salina for the last 61 years.&nbsp; Doug graduated from East High School in Wichita and from Wichita State University with a bachelor of fine arts degree.&nbsp; He also served as a First Lt. in the Kansas Army National Guard, certified in combat photography.

Doug spent the majority of his career as a marketing support manager/graphic artist for Wilson &amp; Company, Engineers and Architects, retiring after 40 years.

He was a member of Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina where he served as the Moderator, Elder, and chair of numerous committees, and he was a member of Optimist Club. He also served as the Regional Moderator of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kansas, and as an advisory committee member for the Commercial Art program at Salina Area Technical College.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue (Hamilton) Gray; daughters Catherine “Cathy” Wilcox (Mike), their daughters Kenzie and Mallory; Emily Schrader (Doug) and their daughter Taylor; granddaughters Laural Gray and her daughter Penelope, and Addison Gray; and his sister Glenda (Bill) Young of Montana.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Eula (Bierman) Gray, his son Marc Gray, and many saints that filled his life with joy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina. Doug’s family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday April 27, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

SALINA, -&nbsp;Richard Roughton, 81 passed away on April 23, 2023 at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born on December 12, 1941 in Hiwass, Arkansas to Bonnie and Kenneth Roughton.

 In 1963 he joined the Army, serving in Korea. 

After being discharged he met and married his wife of 57 years, Mary Henning.

He had three daughters, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He loved playing with his great-grandchildren, doing puzzles and fishing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Richard had two sisters and two brothers. He was loved and will be missed by all.

Richard was preceded in death by in death by his parents, infant son Timmy, brother Marvin Roughton, and grandson Bradley Roughton.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family and sent in care of the mortuary.

VernaBelle Rose Forsberg, 100, of Lindsborg passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Bethany Home of Lindsborg, KS.  VernaBelle was born October 11, 1922 in Roxbury, KS. She is the daughter of the late Francis and the late Sarah (Hesher) Hene.  

VernaBelle graduated high school and worked awhile as an office assistant. 

 She was also a mother and homemaker.  She was a member of Assaria Lutheran Church.  VernaBelle was the widow of the late Marion K. Norland and Glenn E. Forsberg. 

Survivors include her sons Craig Forsberg of Assaria, KS and Gene Forsberg (Peggy) of Boyle, KS; sister-in-law Ruth “Dolly” Nelson of Lindsborg, KS ; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

VernaBelle is preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; brothers Ivan Henne and Milan Henne; sister Delilah Ingram; sons Lyle Norland and Gary Forsberg; and grandson Luke Forsberg.

The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6 at Assaria Lutheran Church, 124 W. 1st St, Assaria, KS with Pastor Dean Apel officiating.  There will be viewing and visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will follow the funeral at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Mentor, KS.

Micki Lynne McGuin of Beloit was born on July 6, 1953, in Atchison, Kansas, and she passed away on April 23, 2023, in Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 69.

Micki attended school in Wichita, where she graduated from high school. 

She was a homemaker, and enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, fishing, and crocheting. She also enjoyed listening to music, and could play songs on the piano by ear. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents Edgar and Maxine McGuin, brothers David, Charlie, Floyd and Dwight, and sisters Bernita and Mary Beth.

She is survived by her children April Matlock (Jason), Mary Scalise (Ross), Casey Walker (Adrian), Clint Walker and James Walker; grandchildren Emma, Dalton, Jaxson and Sofie Matlock, Natasha and Quinn Scalise, Jade Walker, Michael, Andrew, Sarah, Garrick and Drake Walker, and Cody Beltran. She is also survived by her sisters Mary, Glenda and Ana, brothers Bruce and George, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Brian Neal Valcoure, age 49, formerly of Concordia, entered into rest on April 8, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on May 13, 1973 in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;His parents are William and Judy (Sallman) Valcoure.

He was a 1991 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas.

He married Stacy Anderson in 1997. To this union four children were born, Brittany, Shayla, Kagen, and Austin. They later divorced. Brian went on to have two more children, Neveah, and Dakota.

Brian worked as a laborer in the construction field for various companies and for local farmers in the Concordia community.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He enjoyed Chiefs football, motorsports, fishing, listening to music, and being outdoors. Most of all he loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Brian is survived by his six children, Brittany (Andrew) Hall of IA, Shayla (Tevin) Petrie of TX, Kagen Benton and Austin Benton of KS, Nevaeh Valcoure, and Dakota Valcoure of KS; five grandchildren, Paxten, Paisley, Paelynn, and Parker Hall, and Everleigh Petrie; father William “Bill” (Lisa) Valcoure of KS; brother Charles (Anna) Valcoure of KS; stepsisters Michelle (Bryan) Bombardier of KS, Maria (Troy) Morris of NC, Amber (Joey) Doyle of KS, and Stephanie (Derrick) Downie, of KS; and grandmother Edith (Sallman) Linden of KS.

He was preceded by his mother Judy Valcoure; maternal grandfather Clifford Sallman; and paternal grandparents Neal and Beatrice Valcoure.

The family has selected cremation and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. at the American Legion in Concordia, Kansas.

Mary Aron, née Lilly, passed away 23 April. Born 23 June 1940, third of 13 kids, as an older sibling growing up she developed the personality traits she's been recognized for throughout her life - compassion, caring, generosity, and being an absolute assassin while competing at family board games. The adventure's next phase started after marrying her high school sweetheart Bill. The life of a military family is never boring, and Mary had her two children Shai and Kenny while moving around the world for almost twenty years. "Home is where your mom is" was our philosophy and she made a home of wherever we lived whether it was quarters in Fort Eustis, an apartment in Stuttgart with high-speed police chases, or eventually to a restored farmhouse in Chapman, KS where we graduated high school while dad deployed to Korea. There were many more stops in between but we always had "home," each other, and our eyes on the next adventure. The later Chapman phase added kids-in-law John Trotter (Shai) and Becky Wells (Kenny), and grandkids with Nicole, Jessica, and Jason Beck coming into the family, then not long after Keith and Kenton Aron and Chris and David Garrison. One well-earned retirement later brought the last move to Abilene and added Tommy and Lewis Trotter. After some grands were married (Jessica to Joe Ehrlich, Chris to Kamella, and David to Heather) they started cranking out the great-grands, with the last count around nine of them- Kayleigh, Sean, Piper, Tye, Kenslie, Kimberly, Ellie, Fisher, and Nora. Somehow the lax discipline which Mom showed the grandkids became even laxer with the greats, which none of us considered possible. She maintained a "tub of unlimited sweets" where the little ones knew they could grab a snack cake whenever they wanted; where was this when we kids were growing up? Although she pretended to give equal consideration to KU with her "house divided" propaganda she repeatedly confided in me that was just for show and KSU was the unadulterated recipient of her loyalty. I had to break this news gently to our first Emporia student, Lewis. Mary's heart was forever broken three years ago, almost to the day when Bill passed away. She personally placed flowers on his grave up to the week she passed. The next phase of the adventure begins. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023 at First Christian Church of Abilene with Pastor Jason Kohler. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. Friends may come by Danner Funeral Home on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. to sign the register book.

The family suggests memorials be given to the First Christian Church of Abilene. Memorial may be dropped off at the funeral home or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Born 23 June 1940, third of 13 kids, as an older sibling growing up she developed the personality traits she's been recognized for throughout her life - compassion, caring, generosity, and being an absolute assassin while competing at family board games. The adventure's next phase started after marrying her high school sweetheart Bill. The life of a military family is never boring, and Mary had her two children Shai and Kenny while moving around the world for almost twenty years. "Home is where your mom is" was our philosophy and she made a home of wherever we lived whether it was quarters in Fort Eustis, an apartment in Stuttgart with high-speed police chases, or eventually to a restored farmhouse in Chapman, KS where we graduated high school while dad deployed to Korea. There were many more stops in between but we always had "home," each other, and our eyes on the next adventure. The later Chapman phase added kids-in-law John Trotter (Shai) and Becky Wells (Kenny), and grandkids with Nicole, Jessica, and Jason Beck coming into the family, then not long after Keith and Kenton Aron and Chris and David Garrison. One well-earned retirement later brought the last move to Abilene and added Tommy and Lewis Trotter. After some grands were married (Jessica to Joe Ehrlich, Chris to Kamella, and David to Heather) they started cranking out the great-grands, with the last count around nine of them- Kayleigh, Sean, Piper, Tye, Kenslie, Kimberly, Ellie, Fisher, and Nora. Somehow the lax discipline which Mom showed the grandkids became even laxer with the greats, which none of us considered possible. She maintained a "tub of unlimited sweets" where the little ones knew they could grab a snack cake whenever they wanted; where was this when we kids were growing up? Although she pretended to give equal consideration to KU with her "house divided" propaganda she repeatedly confided in me that was just for show and KSU was the unadulterated recipient of her loyalty. I had to break this news gently to our first Emporia student, Lewis. Mary's heart was forever broken three years ago, almost to the day when Bill passed away. She personally placed flowers on his grave up to the week she passed. The next phase of the adventure begins. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023 at First Christian Church of Abilene with Pastor Jason Kohler. Burial will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. Mary Wilson, 84, of Salina, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2023. She was born on July 13, 1938, to Veronica and John Ernst of Atchison, Kansas.

She was married on September 28,1963, to Walt Wilson of Huron, Kansas, to whom she was married for 51 years. They had two children, Karen and Steve, and resided in Salina all of their married life. 

Mary worked as a registered nurse at St. John’s Hospital, Salina, from 1963 to her retirement in 1981. Upon retirement, she did insurance physicals for local insurance agents and also was a delivery driver for Jim’s Pharmacy until the late 1990s. 

After retirement from the work force, she kicked her nursing skills back in place by taking care of her husband until his passing in July of 2015. 

She was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Mollie, as well as her granddogs.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Walt of Salina; parents John and Veronica Ernst of Atchison; and her twin brother John Ernst, also of Atchison. 

She is survived by her kids Karen Laas (Mark) of Brookville and Steve of Salina; sister Betty Larson of Everest, Kansas; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen. Family and friends were invited to stop by Ryan Mortuary between 12 and 5 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023, to sign the register book and collect a memorial folder.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salina. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Old Huron Cemetery, Huron, Kan.

Joyce was born on March 15, 1939, in Lindsey, OK, the daughter of Clifton Hampton Blakley and Marjorie (Paxton) Blakley. 

On December 8, 1966, Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald Stuart Hall in Oklahoma.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 16, 2015.

Survivors include daughters Marcie Cottrell (Chris) of McPherson, KS and Sherry Hall of Effingham, IL, six grandchildren, Taylor Cup of Tecumseh, OK and his daughter Reagan Renee Cup; Kyle Cottrell of McPherson, KS; Linda L. Ronald Gene Cunningham, 80, formerly of McPherson, KS, Ellinwood, KS, and Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; 

He was an agronomist, working at Ohio State University and Kansas State University in the agriculture department.&nbsp; He retired from the Army National Guard.

Ron was born on August 5, 1942, in Winfield, KS, the son of Kedric Bogue and Virginia Nadine (Barnes) Cunningham.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1960 and continued his education at Kansas State University.&nbsp;

He was a member of the American Legion and was also a Boy Scout leader.

On September 16, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Mary Jo Hirsch in Ellinwood.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on January 30, 2022.

Survivors include three sisters, Karen Base (Jonas) of McPherson, KS, Linda Gardner (William) of Ashland, OH, and Vicky Polreis (Gerald) of Nickerson, KS.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother John Cunningham.

Ottawa, KS the daughter of Gary and Melinda (Burgoon) Sitlington. 
Stephanie grew up and attended schools in Ottawa and Pomona, KS.&nbsp;

Stephanie worked for All Saints Home Care in Ottawa, KS and later, 
was a homemaker who took care of her Son and Mother.&nbsp; She enjoyed 
collecting dolphins and listening to country music.&nbsp; She will be 
remembered for always loving her family and her willingness to always 
lend a hand to family and friends.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, Jason Dyche and son, Gary Sitlington 
III of the home; her mother, Melinda Burgoon of Ottawa, KS; four 
sisters, Samantha (Mickey) Owens of Richmond, KS, Betty (Michael) 
Richard of Carson City, NV, Tammy Sitlington of Topeka, KS and Milissa 
Sitlington of Lansing, KS; four brothers, Jacob Burgoon of Westwood, KS,
 Donovan Sitlington of Garnett, KS, Travis (Katie) Schultz of Lee’s 
Summit, MO and Levi Sitlington of Salina, KS; and many nieces and 
nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Sitlington and a brother, Gary Sitlington II.

She then attended and graduated from Emporia State College with a master of science. She worked at SRS in Great Bend, KS as a records keeper. Debra enjoyed her church, teaching Sunday school, her pets, lunch with her friends, movies and spending time with her friends and family. Marcella Mae "Sally" (Hoffman) Flax, 88 of Ellis. Kansas passed away April 24, 2023, at Trego County Lemke&nbsp;LTC in Wakeeney.

Sally
 was born on April 17, 1935, in Odin, KS to Michael and Margaret (Feltis) 
Hoffman. She attended Great Bend High School and graduated in 1953. 
Sally met the love of her life, Paul Flax, at her cousin’s wedding. They
 were married on August 24, 1954, in Great Bend. The following August 
they welcomed a son, Jerome, and the following fall, a daughter, Julia. 
Having to move many times with the railroad, Sally and Paul always 
returned to Ellis, calling it home. They were married for 53 years 
before Paul's passing in 2007.

Sally was always ready 
to take a vacation or bus trip with an occasional stop at the casinos. 
Her travels allowed her to see much of the United States and some 
European countries. She enjoyed morning coffee with the ladies, playing 
bingo, bridge or pinochle with family and friends. But one of her 
greatest joys was being with her grandchildren.

She was a member of St Mary's Church and the D of I in Ellis.

She
 is preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; Son, Jerome; sisters
 Mercedes Huslig (Arthur), Anna Koester (Joseph,) Dolores Schneweis 
(Bernard) and Sister Mary Lawrence.

She is survived by a
 daughter Julia Hillman, WaKeeney; six grandchildren, Angela Flax (Geoff

Hoffman. She attended Great Bend High School and graduated in 1953. 
Sally met the love of her life, Paul Flax, at her cousin’s wedding. They
 were married on August 24, 1954, in Great Bend. The following August 
they welcomed a son, Jerome, and the following fall, a daughter, Julia. 
Having to move many times with the railroad, Sally and Paul always 
returned to Ellis, calling it home. They were married for 53 years 
before Paul's passing in 2007.Sally was always ready 
to take a vacation or bus trip with an occasional stop at the casinos. 
Her travels allowed her to see much of the United States and some 
European countries. She enjoyed morning coffee with the ladies, playing 
bingo, bridge or pinochle with family and friends. But one of her 
greatest joys was being with her grandchildren.She was a member of St Mary's Church and the D of I in Ellis.She
 is preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; Son, Jerome; sisters
 Mercedes Huslig (Arthur), Anna Koester (Joseph,) Dolores Schneweis 
(Bernard) and Sister Mary Lawrence.She is survived by a
 daughter Julia Hillman, WaKeeney; six grandchildren, Angela Flax (Geoff

Marcella Mae 'Sally' Flax

Larry F. Bills, 78, of Palestine, IL, passed away on April 20, 
2023, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. Born on July 31, 1944, in 
Salinas, CA, he was the son of Laurence E. &amp; Iona J. (Durham) Bills,
 both of whom preceded him in death. He married Susan (Caraway) on July 
14, 2001, and sadly, Susan passed away on March 15, 2016, leaving an 
indelible impression on Larry's heart. 

Larry's legacy continues with his
 deeply loved and cherished children - Kim &amp; her husband Kenny Koch 
(Camdenton, MO), Brian Bills (Kansas City, KS) &amp; his significant 
other Jessica, Laura &amp; her husband Tony Osborn (Robinson, IL), and 
David &amp; his wife Daphne Conour (Stoughton, WI). Larry's family 
expanded exponentially with numerous adoring grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren. They, as well as his brother, Richard Bills (Platte
 City, MO), survive, as does a host of extended family members.

Larry
 grew up in Salina, KS, where he graduated from high school in 1962. 
Larry continued his education at Kansas State University and shortly 
thereafter began an eclectic and impressive career that took many forms.
 Through the years, Larry's titles included deputy sheriff, construction
 diesel mechanic, carbide grinder, railroad brakeman, and licensed 
realtor. He was even a mechanical and electrical design engineer, 
helping develop conveyors for the big three automakers. Larry's 
exceptional intelligence and keen problem-solving skills led him to his 
final career move as a systems analyst and administrator for Verizon in 
Tulsa, OK, where he ultimately retired.

Just as he 
engaged in a wide range of work, he also pursued a wide range of 
interests and passions. Among them were racing (a young Larry raced his 
own sprint car for years), building and flying radio-controlled 
airplanes, cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, fishing, and 
studying history. Anyone who knew him recognized that Larry held a 
particular fascination for weather-related phenomena. In a testament to 
his dedication to weather forecasting, he recently collaborated with the
 National Weather Service, which installed an antenna in his backyard. 
This partnership allowed him to upload real-time weather data to their 
systems, contributing to essential monitoring and alert services for his
 community. Larry's engagement with the world didn't end with his 
hobbies. A longtime Shriner, he dedicated many hours to philanthropy and
 community service. Additionally, he held a membership with the Masonic 
Lodge in Overland Park, KS.

Larry's spiritual 
transformation began later in life, and it's clear that his path toward 
faith was nothing short of extraordinary. While he couldn't be dragged 
into church for most of his 78 years, the Holy Spirit used both his 
experiences and time to finally lead him to the doors of the Outer West 
Market Church of Christ in Palestine. He joined the church on October 
31, 2021, and was baptized just months later, on February 27, 2022. As 
Larry's faith grew deeper, so did his capacity to express love to those 
around him. His earlier days may have been characterized by some 
emotional reserve, but the twilight of his life was marked by an 
openness and warmth that was as inspiring as it was touching. Larry's 
newfound relationship with Jesus led him to attend church faithfully, 
even as his health declined. In his final days, it was with great joy 
that Larry found refuge in the arms of his Savior, a faithful and loving
 Shepherd who guided him through every valley in his life.

His
 passing brings with it the powerful testimony of a life touched by 
grace and redeemed by faith, a testament that will live on in the hearts
 and minds of all those who had the privilege to know him. We who are 
left behind grieve our own loss, but not as those without hope. After 
all, we can be thankful for the priceless gift of knowing and loving 
Larry Bills, a man who truly exemplified wisdom, passion, and faith. We 
are confident that, as he walks in the Kingdom of Heaven, his life 
continues as a testament to the transformative power of Jesus Christ.

Robert W. "Robb" Mitchell, 50, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. He was born March 17, 1973, in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Robert Dean and Janice Lynn (Carlock) Mitchell.

Robb graduated from Zion Benton High School in Zion, Illinois and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas. He was employed as a criminal court clerk by the Shawnee County District Court.

Survivors include his domestic partner of 12 years, Douglas Jones of Topeka, KS; sister Kimber (Royal) Mellinger of McPherson, KS; and nine nieces and nephews, Doralynn, Nickolai, Tyler, Gavin, Tommie, Hailee, Luke, Tzeitel and Josh; his aunt and uncle that were like second parents to Robb, Joyce and Bill Stein of Illinois; and other family members and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held in Topeka and announced as soon as possible. A second memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut St., McPherson.

Kari B. McCall, age 86, entered into rest on Saturday April 22, 2023, at Marquis Place, Concordia, Kansas. She was born on November 9, 1936, in Scandia, Kansas to Carl E. and Alice E. (Morse) Norgard. &nbsp;Kari grew up on the family farm outside of Scandia, helping her father and brother with chores.

Kari was a 1954 graduate of Scandia High School, Scandia, Kansas. 

She married the love of her life, Albert M. McCall, on June 4, 1954, at the Scandia Lutheran Church in Scandia, Kansas. They were happily married for 68 years. &nbsp;To this union three children were born, Greg, Randy, and Jeff.

Kari enjoyed taking trips with family and friends, playing bingo, bowling, and going to casinos with friends. &nbsp;She loved her family and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s band and dance performances and sporting activities.&nbsp;

She was a homemaker while her children were young and then worked for 20 years at MC Industries in Belleville, Kansas when her children were older.

Kari is survived by her sons Greg McCall (Cindy), Overland Park, Kansas; Randy McCall (Christine), Lawrence, Kansas; Jeff McCall (Stormy), Twin Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, Zach McCall, Junu McCall, Matthew McCall, Bethanie Cedeño-McCall (Joseph), Madison McCall; sister-in-law Doris McCall, New Cambria, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Alice, her husband Albert McCall, and her brother Carl Norgard.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

Born in San Antonio, TX on May 5, 1948. Passed away April 23, 2023. Known to many as Mom, Grandma, Aunt B., and Mama V. Preceded in death by her son, Daniel Brickei and two brothers, Juan and Julian Longoria. Survived by five children: two sons, Michael Brickei (Daisy) and Joseph Hall; three daughters, Charlene Ritter (Mike), Melissa Hall, and Janie Hall; two sisters, Olga Dulaney and Mary McNeece; brother Johnny Longoria; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other extended family, and her ex-husband Michael Hall. Virginia loved her family and was a devoted caregiver to many, even those outside of her biological family. She was a second Mom or Grandma in many lives she touched. She often would put her needs last to provide for those she loved. She was a remarkably strong woman despite many struggles she endured throughout her lifetime. She was a great model of strength, strong-will, and determination to her daughters and others. She had been a dedicated and hard-worker all of her life, always punctual and taking pride in everything she did. She filled many roles while also being a full-time mom which included being a cook, dietary aide, and produce clerk. Virginia grew up playing softball and later bowled in leagues. She was beyond social and never met a stranger. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved to play bingo with her best friend Mary Breeden, go to dinners with friends, watch older shows, listen to music, complete word searches, put puzzles together, and play solitaire. She is greatly loved and missed. There was no one quite like Our Momma.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Passed away April 23, 2023. Known to many as Mom, Grandma, Aunt B., and Mama V. Preceded in death by her son, Daniel Brickei and two brothers, Juan and Julian Longoria. Survived by five children: two sons, Michael Brickei (Daisy) and Joseph Hall; three daughters, Charlene Ritter (Mike), Melissa Hall, and Janie Hall; two sisters, Olga Dulaney and Mary McNeece; brother Johnny Longoria; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other extended family, and her ex-husband Michael Hall. Virginia loved her family and was a devoted caregiver to many, even those outside of her biological family. She was a second Mom or Grandma in many lives she touched. She often would put her needs last to provide for those she loved. She was a remarkably strong woman despite many struggles she endured throughout her lifetime. She was a great model of strength, strong-will, and determination to her daughters and others. She had been a dedicated and hard-worker all of her life, always punctual and taking pride in everything she did. She filled many roles while also being a full-time mom which included being a cook, dietary aide, and produce clerk. Virginia grew up playing softball and later bowled in leagues. She was beyond social and never met a stranger. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved to play bingo with her best friend Mary Breeden, go to dinners with friends, watch older shows, listen to music, complete word searches, put puzzles together, and play solitaire. She is greatly loved and missed. There was no one quite like Our Momma.&nbsp;&nbsp;<figure>

Melba Jacqueline “Jackie” Shirley was born December 5, 1931, in Hartsfield, Georgia, the daughter of Hughie and Argie Rozell (Green) Gay. 

She was married to John Truman Hatcher in Boston, Georgia. She moved to Wichita with her children in 1960. 

She married Eugene Ray Shirley on December 19, 1966, in Salina. The family moved to Chapman in January 1970. Jackie passed away of natural causes on Friday, April 21, in Auburn, Kansas at the age of 91. Survivors include her children John T. Hatcher, Jr. of Topeka, Myrtice Jacqueline Audiss of Enterprise, Alabama, Dianne Lovey Tweedy of Salina, Marion Aridane Parker of Leavenworth, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene on May 31, 2003, daughter Lily Rozell Doviak, son Smith Taylor Hatcher, sister Ruth Tooman, and three brothers, Wayne Gay and Charles Gay, and Gerald Gay. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Chapman with Pastor Patrick Garlock officiating. As per Jackie’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery and may be mailed to the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 411, Chapman, Kansas 67431.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Matthew Dane Langdon, age 49, of Abilene, KS departed his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Matt is survived by his parents Doran and Charles "Chuck" Clemence, Abilene, KS and Michael (Mic) and Kris Langdon, Abilene, KS; his sister Angela "Angie" and Terry Reiff, Hope, KS; and stepbrother Matt Clemence of Solomon; his stepbrothers Todd Schmidt (Tammy), Manhattan, KS and Jamie (Staci) Schmidt, Queens Creek, AZ; and stepsister Alison (Mitch) Swargerty, of Glendale, AZ. He was proud of his nephews Rocque (Krista) Russell, Abilene, KS, Clayton Carson, Hope, Ks, his nieces Jenna (Dale) Cornelison, Philadelphia, PA and Katelyn Reiff, Manhattan, KS; his aunts and uncles and cousins and many friends. He also dearly loved his dogs Dixie and Duke.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Doris Larson, Marvin and Helen Langdon, Roy "Babe" Clemence and stepbrother Todd Clemence.

Matt loved farming and working with heavy equipment and could operate equipment "by the seat of his pants," smooth and steady. He was an accomplished welder and fabricator.

Matt had a huge gift of compassion, love and concern for others. He would tell you he has experienced many answered prayers and the saving grace of Jesus throughout his life.

Matt absolutely loved to entertain us with his unique sense of humor, always a smile and giggly laughter spilled from him which made each of us feel genuinely special and loved. He was an "old soul" reminiscing and admiring the past generations that worked so hard and gave their "all" for the freedoms we have. He loved history, his heritage and old country music.

Matt graduated from Abilene High School with the Class of 1992.

Donations may be given to The Cedar House Recovery, Abilene, KS or The Salina Rescue Mission, Salina, KS to help others restore their lives.
