Deborah (Debby) J. Bell was born December 6, 1953 in Mankato, KS to George T. B. Bell and Joyce A. (Korbelik) Bell. She passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at her home in Beloit, KS.

Debby grew up on her parent’s farm east of Beloit. She was an avid lover of the outdoors, as well as any animal she met. She grew up working on the farm with her parents, and loved caring for livestock and working the fields. She fell in love with plants, like her mother, and enjoyed working part-time at the local greenhouses.

After graduating from Beloit High School in 1971, Debby attended Kansas State University and graduated with a degree in landscape horticulture in 1975.

She worked a few years in Beloit at Beloit Floral, before moving to Merriam, KS. There she worked for VMI, Video Masters, Inc., where she was vice president. This job provided the opportunity for her to travel all over the world, and she thrived meeting new people and seeing new places. The company office was ravaged by the flood of 1993, which was underwater for some time. She, along with other employees, spent many weeks retrieving documents from the flooded office. As a result, Debby developed health issues which would forever limit her physically.

In 2001, she moved back to the Beloit area to be near her parents as they aged. Debby never regretted this move as she was able to spend so many cherished days with her beloved parents. She loved accompanying her parents to local dances at the Moose and VFW. She loved watching them dance together to big band music, as well as taking her turn on the dance floor with her dad. She was able to help them more and more, as their needs grew and she was devoted to their care.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Debby locally worked for Bell Memorials, and then Farmway Co-op, from which she retired in 2022.

Debby was a lifelong lover of animals of all kinds. She cared for any and all stray or needy animals that she met. These animals gave her great joy and love throughout her life.

Debby was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Nelson, and sister Janet. 

She is survived by her brother Bennett Bell (Teri), sister Sandy Budke (Randy), both of Beloit, and her sister Julie (David) of Paso Robles, CA, as well as her nieces Brandy Bell, LeAnn Budke, Marissa Budke, and nephew, Derek Bell.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 5 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to The Pet Connection in Beloit, KS.

Ciara Noel Duncan, 74, of Salina, passed away Saturday, April 29th, 2023.

Ciara was born in California on March 27, 1949, a daughter of Barbara (Tucker) and Harvey Corey.

Survivors include her daughter, Heidi Seltman, of Nekoma, Kansas; four grandchildren, Cody Husson, Caleb Husson, Caitlyn Murphy, and Lainey Seltman.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nancy, and Sandy; husband, Walter Duncan; and daughter, Lisa Marie Duncan.

Cremation was chosen and no services are planned.

Vickie Lynn Huxman (Youk) was born in Goessel, Kansas on February 17, 1954 the youngest of seven children to Leland and Lorene Youk and entered eternal life on May 2, 2023. 

After her father's death, Lorene married Harry Laubhan and from that relationship Vickie gained another sister. Vickie grew up on a small farm close to the Marion Reservoir between Marion and Hillsboro, Kansas. 

She attended school in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1972.

Vickie married Bruce Martens in 1972 and they had two children, Jason Martens and Jenny Dricsoll. In 1998, she married Doug Huxman.

In her spare time, she loved working with her flowers and attending grandkids many events. She also loved to attend flea markets with her siblings and when they couldn’t go, she coerced Doug into going. She also loved to travel, especially places that had the reputation of being haunted. She was also fortunate to visit Europe twice. 

Anyone that knew her also new that she was infatuated with the Beatles and had an entire room at home dedicated to the Beatles. One of the last concerts she attended was a concert in Wichita that featured one of the members of the Beatles, Paul McCartney.

Most of all she loved and cherished each and every member of her family and spending time with them. They will all remember her constant smile, gentle nature, and spirit of generosity, but most of all, they will miss her love. Though she is not with us anymore, none of us will ever consider her gone because, for each of us, her memory lingers on and she will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Vickie was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where over the years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

In 2016, Vickie was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) which robbed her of the ability to communicate. In time she also lost her ability to take care of herself and eventually came to depend on others. She became a resident of Newton Presbyterian Manor in 2020 where she remained until her death.

Vickie was preceded in death by her father Leland Youk; mother Lorene Laubhan and stepfather Harry Laubhan; sisters Carolyn (Leon) Schmidt and Linda (Terry) Shaw; and brother Gaylen (Betty) Youk.

She is survived by her husband Doug Huxman; daughter Jenny (Pat) Driscoll; grandsons Dayton (Brianna) Stucky and Parker Schultz and great-granddaughter Oakley Stucky; son Jason Martens and his friend Lynda Karseboom; her sisters Shirley Carstens; Margie (J.B.) Geisler; Sharon (Gerald) Kelsey; Laurie (Tom) Koslowsky; stepsons Chris (Jamie) Huxman and Brian (Cori) Huxman and their children. She will be missed by her extended family and all her friends that touched her life as well.

Michael Andrew Wilson, 68, entered into his new life without pain, confusion, or decisions to make, when he passed away unexpectedly at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina on April 27, the day before his birthday.

"Mike" as he was known, was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on April 28, 1954. His parents were Doyle J. Wilson and Eunice A. (Rose) Borthwick.

When Mike was younger, he attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Salina.

Mike married Jayne VanBlaricon. Even though this marriage dissolved recently, the love through the years, still leaves fond memories.

Survivors include his son Tyler Wilson (Shaina Jones) of Salina; stepdaughter Jayme VanBlaricon-Smith of Topeka, Kansas; and three beautiful grandchildren, Jace, Braxton, and Paisley.

Other survivors include his siblings David Wilson (Lyn), of Clyo, Georgia; sister Judy Stotts (Benny), of Moore, Oklahoma; adopted half-sister, Dawn Morse (Eddie) of Glasco, Kansas. Mike had several other siblings that were half or step that he grew up with, and has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Amelia.

Mike worked for Advance Auto Parts Distribution Center for over 25 years. He also worked part-time for different auctioneers in Salina and spent many weekends at the Auction House.

He had a passion for sports, baseball, basketball, and football. He enjoyed watching his grandson play baseball and was always bragging on each of his grandkids' achievements. He was so proud of them.

Mike often spoke of the garage band he was a part of and enjoyed music. He loved animals, going to the casino, and trips to Savannah, Georgia, and Mexico beaches. When he was younger, he went to California to visit his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 3rd, at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Ave., Salina.

Mike will be deeply missed by family and a big circle of friends.

Memorials may be made to the family for his grandchildren, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina.

Michael 'Mike' Andrew Wilson

Marvin Dale McCall, 87, of Hattieville, Arkansas, died peacefully in his home on April 27, 2023. Marvin was born May 6, 1935, in Saline County, Kansas. Being the son of a farmer, he grew up learning the value of hard work, resilience, and strong family values. 

After graduating high school, Marvin served in the United States Army for two2 years. 

Upon his return to Kansas, he decided to meet up with an old friend one weekend where he met his friend’s little sister, Donna Clare Rieth, and quickly fell in love. Marvin and Donna were married on May 6, 1961. They settled down in Salina, Kansas and started their family. 

Marvin went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and after several years moved the family to Lawrence, Kansas. For the next 25 years, Marvin and Donna raised four children, instilling in them a strong faith in God, the value of family, hard work, and togetherness. And, of course, a love for the Kansas Jayhawks! In 1964, Marvin became a season ticket holder for KU men’s basketball and would continue to for the next 27 years. If Donna wasn’t able to attend a game, then one lucky child would get to tag along with their dad. 

Marvin also developed a strong relationship with God and surprised the family in 1970 by converting to Catholicism. Several years later, Marvin and Donna strengthened their bond even more by joining Marriage Encounter. There, they became acquainted with many other couples and developed lifelong friendships for both themselves and for their children. 

In 1991, Marvin retired from SWB and made the decision to move to Hattieville, Arkansas where he started his second career following in his father’s footsteps of raising cattle. Once again, enjoying farm life and a slower pace, Marvin quickly adapted to Arkansas. Not one to ever meet a stranger, his friendly smile, giving nature, and willingness to sit down and enjoy a cold one helped him make quite a few friends.

He also became a part-time bus driver at Wonderview School for several years. 

In his spare time, Marvin enjoyed traveling and exploring. Whether it was taking his family on road trips across the country, or later in life traveling with Donna to other countries around the world. Sometimes it might only be a weekend camping in a new spot. Marvin was also known as a bit of a prankster. He loved to tease.  Marvin also had a very giving nature. He was always willing to lend a hand to others. Volunteering through church organizations like the Knights of Columbus and the Cattleman’s Association, helping his fellow parishioners and neighbors, Marvin wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty or break a sweat. Marvin loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed teaching them how to fish and “play games.”

He is preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth; father Vernon; brother Erland; sister Janice; grandson Eryk; and great-granddaughter Leah

He is survived by his wife Donna; children Trecia, Deanna, Rodney, and Elizabeth; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Vincent, Arkansas with Father Jack Harris officiating.&nbsp;

Burial will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 3rd at Crown Point Cemetery in Culver, Kansas.

Marvin was born May 6, 1935, in Saline County, Kansas. Being the son of a farmer, he grew up learning the value of hard work, resilience, and strong family values. After graduating high school, Marvin served in the United States Army for two2 years. Upon his return to Kansas, he decided to meet up with an old friend one weekend where he met his friend’s little sister, Donna Clare Rieth, and quickly fell in love. Marvin and Donna were married on May 6, 1961. They settled down in Salina, Kansas and started their family. Marvin went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and after several years moved the family to Lawrence, Kansas. For the next 25 years, Marvin and Donna raised four children, instilling in them a strong faith in God, the value of family, hard work, and togetherness. And, of course, a love for the Kansas Jayhawks! In 1964, Marvin became a season ticket holder for KU men’s basketball and would continue to for the next 27 years. If Donna wasn’t able to attend a game, then one lucky child would get to tag along with their dad. Marvin also developed a strong relationship with God and surprised the family in 1970 by converting to Catholicism. Several years later, Marvin and Donna strengthened their bond even more by joining Marriage Encounter. There, they became acquainted with many other couples and developed lifelong friendships for both themselves and for their children. In 1991, Marvin retired from SWB and made the decision to move to Hattieville, Arkansas where he started his second career following in his father’s footsteps of raising cattle. Once again, enjoying farm life and a slower pace, Marvin quickly adapted to Arkansas. Not one to ever meet a stranger, his friendly smile, giving nature, and willingness to sit down and enjoy a cold one helped him make quite a few friends.He also became a part-time bus driver at Wonderview School for several years. In his spare time, Marvin enjoyed traveling and exploring. Whether it was taking his family on road trips across the country, or later in life traveling with Donna to other countries around the world. Sometimes it might only be a weekend camping in a new spot. Marvin was also known as a bit of a prankster. He loved to tease. SALINA -&nbsp;Carol Ann (Percival) Fritz&nbsp;passed away on April 27, 2023. She was born on September 1, 1937, to Robert Clay and Opal Ann (Crooks) Percival in Salina, KS. She was the firstborn child in the family and grew up with sister, Suzy (Percival) Yeagley, and brother, Bob Percival.

Carol graduated from Salina High School, Class of 1955, where she met her husband, Daniel George Fritz. 

She then went on to graduate from Salina Beauty Academy and married Danny in 1958. She worked as a beauty operator for many years. &nbsp;

In addition, she was a full-time babysitter, a seamstress in a jeans factory, an upholsterer and bookkeeper at her husband Danny’s shop, Precision Automotive, where she also did body work on cars. She worked at the Jeans Factory for several years, drove a bus for the Salina school system, and spent most of her working years as a lunch lady for USD 305 at Salina High School Central, Meadowlark Elementary, Oakdale Elementary, Sunset Elementary, and Cottonwood Elementary.

She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church where she spent many years as an 8th grade Sunday school teacher during the 70s. She enjoyed sewing, oil painting, traveling with Danny and his ‘57 Chevy, “Sylvester,” on the drag racing circuit, helping in the pits, and cheering for son, Clark, at the Salina Speedway.

She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel G. Fritz, father Robert “Clay” Percival, mother Opal Ann “Perci” (Crooks) Percival, and daughter Julie Ann Fritz.

Survivors include daughter Laurie (Fritz) Moravec and husband Paul Green; son Clark D. Fritz and wife Danette, of Salina; sister Suzy (Percival) Yeagley and husband Larry; brother Bob Percival and wife, Cindy, of Lee’s Summit, MO; 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Ryan Mortuary.

LINCOLN - William Warner Myers, 85, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 in Beloit, KS. He was born February 20, 1938 in Kanopolis, KS to John and Julia (Spies) Myers. 

William served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a longtime resident of Lincoln, KS where he was a heavy equipment operator for the Kansas Department of Transportation and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. 

He married Patsy Sue Ryan in Lincoln, KS on December 23, 1961.

William is survived by his son Patrick Myers (Donna) of Lawrence, KS; son Paul Myers of Topeka, KS; daughter Tammy Wallace (Max) of Barnard, KS; son John Myers of Salina, KS; son Robert Myers of Salina; grandchildren Julia Myers, Chelsea Wallace, Paige Cranston (Chance), Tanner Wallace, Lacy Myers, and Andrew Gold; great-grandchildren Mya and Mason Wallace, Harrison Payne, and Codee, Caylee, and Cooper Cranston; and brother John Myers of Chandler, AZ.

She married Robert Eugene Sharpe on December 12, 1954. 

Gwendolyn worked as a seamstress at Elder-Beerman and Graham Cleaners. She was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Richmond. Gwendolyn enjoyed sewing, going out to eat, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughters Marcia (Dan) Seidel of Saint Charles, Missouri, and Diane (Dick Ferriell) Sharpe of Richmond; sons Mike (Jennifer) Sharpe of Liberty, Indiana, and Gary Sharpe of St. Augustine, Florida; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Eugene Sharpe, who died September 17, 2019; son Mark Sharpe; parents; and sister Dorothy Sondergard. Kenneth Arthur Schmidt, 89, of Moundridge, Kansas passed away April 30, 2023 at Moundridge Manor. He was born May 6, 1933 in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Freeman and Evelyn (Unruh) Schmidt. As a child, Kenneth lived in Halstead, Kansas. He also lived in Winton, California, Paris, Texas and later, Moundridge. He was a member of Garden View Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Halstead and West Haven Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Brookston, Texas. Kenneth was a welder at Hesston Corporation, Hesston, Kansas, and Titan Homes in Paris, Texas. On September 30, 1956, Kenneth was united in marriage with Evelyn May Schmidt in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by a daughter, Connie Pryor of Sumner, Texas; two sons, Allan Schmidt and his wife Paula of Panama City, Florida and Todd Schmidt of Paris, Texas; a sister, Wanda Ratzlaff of Moundridge; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Stanley Schmidt and Larry Schmidt; a son-in-law, Buddy Pryor; and a brother-in-law, Bud Ratzlaff. He was born May 6, 1933 in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Freeman and Evelyn (Unruh) Schmidt. As a child, Kenneth lived in Halstead, Kansas. He also lived in Winton, California, Paris, Texas and later, Moundridge. He was a member of Garden View Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Halstead and West Haven Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Brookston, Texas. Kenneth was a welder at Hesston Corporation, Hesston, Kansas, and Titan Homes in Paris, Texas. On September 30, 1956, Kenneth was united in marriage with Evelyn May Schmidt in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by a daughter, Connie Pryor of Sumner, Texas; two sons, Allan Schmidt and his wife Paula of Panama City, Florida and Todd Schmidt of Paris, Texas; a sister, Wanda Ratzlaff of Moundridge; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Stanley Schmidt and Larry Schmidt; a son-in-law, Buddy Pryor; and a brother-in-law, Bud Ratzlaff. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Moundridge Funeral Home. Patricia “Pat” Ann Reimer, 64, a lifetime McPherson County resident, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at her home in McPherson.

Pat was born on April 30, 1958, in Moundridge, KS, the daughter of Elvin and Neva Mae (Kaufman) Schrag.&nbsp; She graduated from Moundridge High School, attended McPherson College, and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a bachelor of science in nursing.

On May 16, 1981, Pat was united in marriage to Gordon Ray Reimer at the Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children, Bret and Elizabeth.

Pat worked as a registered nurse manager at Prairie View Mental Health in Newton and was a secretary for Lincoln Elementary School, McPherson and the McPherson Free Methodist Church.&nbsp;

She was a member of the McPherson Free Methodist Church and participated in the classes at Elysium Yoga Studio.&nbsp; Pat’s greatest joy was her family and being a grandma.

Survivors include: her loving husband of almost 42 years, Gordon of the home; a son, Bret Reimer of Roeland Park, KS; a daughter, Elizabeth (Tanner) Gonzalez of Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Addison (13), Grayson (11), and Beckham (8) Reimer, and Isabella Browne (15), Asher Browne (10), and Brayden Gonzalez (4); a sister, Carol (Dan) Zerger of Moundridge, KS; a brother, Steven Schrag of Bartlesville, OK; sister-in-law, Amy Schrag of Moundridge, KS; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elvin &amp; Neva Schrag, and a brother, Tim Schrag.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Griffith officiating.&nbsp;

Dr. Laura Lee (Workman) Eells, 68, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.

Dr. Laura Eells was a member of the McPherson College faculty for 26 years and served as a professor of sociology, the department chair, and the academic dean.&nbsp; She retired in May of 2022. She was also the assistant professor of sociology at Wichita State University and the executive director of the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center.

Laura was born on September 22, 1954, in Seward, NE, the daughter of Robert LeRoy “Jack” and Laura Bell (Snavely) Workman.&nbsp; She graduated from Seward High School in 1972 and received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Nebraska.&nbsp;

 On November 22, 1979, Laura was united in&nbsp; marriage to Michael Allan Eells in Seward, NE. This union was blessed with a son, Dan.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Michael of the home; a son, Dan Eells (Elizabeth) of Newton, KS; a niece, Kris Finley (Aaron) of Lincoln, NE; a great-niece, Morgan Finley of Lincoln, NE; a great-nephew, Logan Finley of Lincoln, NE; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Laura Workman, and a sister, Susie Urbanek.

Veronica Lynn (Rinaldo) Davidson was born February 23, 1968 to Leon J. and Joann J. Rinaldo in Barberton, Ohio. She passed away on April 26, 2023 in Salina, Kansas after a short battle with bone cancer. 

Veronica married Ervin E. Davidson Jr. on October 13, 1992. 

Ervin preceded her in death on December 1, 2019. Her parents and step-brother, Victor Vallier also preceded her in death. 

Veronica is survived by her daughter, Ashley Davidson of Salina, Kansas, stepdaughter Christina Davidson and two grandsons, Paul and Carter of Akron, Ohio, her sister Laura Verdorn (Bryan) of Wadsworth, Ohio, stepbrother Daniel Vallier (Beth) of Urbandale, Iowa, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Veronica most recently resided in Ellsworth, Kansas where she worked at the Good Samaritan Village in the dietary department and attended the Harvest Bible Fellowship Church. 

Veronica loved her family! She will long be remembered for her love for Palm Beach, Florida, animals - especially cats, and her faithfulness in recognizing family birthdays, holidays and anniversaries.

A graveside memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.

Rosella Mary (Konzem) Eilert was born on January 10, 1926, at the Konzem farm home located five miles east and two miles north of Tipton, KS. She was the eleventh of twelve children born to Frank and Anna (Arnoldy) Konzem.&nbsp;&nbsp;She departed this life on April 28, 2023, at the age of 97.

Rosella, known by many as Rosie, attended school through the eighth grade at Lone Hill Grade school. She then attended Tipton High School where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1943 and had a scholarship to attend Marymount College. 

Only a small percentage of high school graduates attended college back then, and instead, she took a job at the War Price and Rationing Board of Beloit. Rosie was working at the Rationing Board when Paul Eilert came in to get the five gallons of gas that all servicemen received when they came home on leave. She knew who Paul was and she made it a point to wait on him that day. They corresponded by writing letters until Paul was discharged on October 11, 1945. Rosella and Paul saw each other every day until they were married on November 6, 1945.

Rosella and Paul were blessed with a large family of eleven children. Rosella was a full-time mother and farming partner and was no stranger to hard work. During the early years of her married life, she and Paul and the children lived at several different farmsteads that had no running water. Thus, she had to carry water for cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Along with caring for and preparing three meals a day for 11 children, which was no small feat, Rosella put out a garden each summer, canned produce, raised chickens, assisted with milking cows, and sewed most of the clothing for her children. Rosella instilled her work ethic and her dedication to serving others in each of her children.

Education was very important to Rosella and she expected her children to work as hard at school as they did on the farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;The older Eilert children attended school at Walnut Grove and Laban country schools until those schools closed. Then, all of the kids were sent to St. John’s schools in Beloit. Rosella was always ready and willing to help out at school any way she could. From the time her oldest entered school in 1953, until the youngest graduated in 1987, whenever there was work to be done, you could count on Rosie being there to help.

The three most important things to Rosella were her family, her church, and her country. She was an active member of St. John’s Ladies Guild, serving as banquet committee chairperson for many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary fulfilling the duties of president, secretary, and treasurer over the years.

Rosella took care of Paul when his health declined, allowing him to fulfill his wish to die at home. She then made it her mission to care for others. For many years, she made frequent visits to the Hilltop Lodge and to long term care, brightening the days of many friends and relatives. 

Rosella liked to keep busy and enjoyed eating lunch with friends at the Beloit Senior Center, exercising at the NCK Wellness Center, and volunteering at the Economy Shop and hospital gift shop. When she was at home, you could find her working crossword puzzles. 

In February, 2016, daughter Dee moved back to Beloit to become Rosella’s caregiver, serving as her driver, housekeeper, and “Scrabble” opponent, which allowed Rosella to continue to live in her home and enjoy life to the fullest. In July, 2021, she moved to the Resident Care Center, thoroughly enjoying the fellowship she shared with residents and staff.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband Paul with whom she shared 49 years before his death in 1995, her oldest son David in 2011, her grandchildren Amber Stroede, Dillon Stroede, and Caleb Eilert, and her great-grandchild Ally Rae Eilert. 

She is survived by her children Carol and Norman Feingold, Tucson, AZ; Dee Eilert, Tucson, AZ; Pauline Casey and Carol Martin, Denver, CO; Richard and Louise Eilert, Duluth, MN,; Dan and Tammy Eilert, Wichita, KS; Norman and Linda Eilert, Salina, KS; Allen and Tammy Eilert, Beloit, KS; Deanne and Alan Winkel, Glen Elder, KS; Scott and Janine Eilert, Wichita, KS; and Lisa and Ed Long, Beloit KS; along with her daughter-in-law Patricia Eilert, Branson MO; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Rosella will be dearly missed by everyone.

Funeral services will be at 10 a,n, Thursday, May 4 and a rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the temporary St. John's Catholic Church (former Dollar General building). Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Resident Care Center, Beloit Senior Center, or St. John's Memorial Trust Fund.

Rosella liked to keep busy and enjoyed eating lunch with friends at the Beloit Senior Center, exercising at the NCK Wellness Center, and volunteering at the Economy Shop and hospital gift shop. When she was at home, you could find her working crossword puzzles. In February, 2016, daughter Dee moved back to Beloit to become Rosella’s caregiver, serving as her driver, housekeeper, and “Scrabble” opponent, which allowed Rosella to continue to live in her home and enjoy life to the fullest. In July, 2021, she moved to the Resident Care Center, thoroughly enjoying the fellowship she shared with residents and staff.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband Paul with whom she shared 49 years before his death in 1995, her oldest son David in 2011, her grandchildren Amber Stroede, Dillon Stroede, and Caleb Eilert, and her great-grandchild Ally Rae Eilert. She is survived by her children Carol and Norman Feingold, Tucson, AZ; Dee Eilert, Tucson, AZ; Pauline Casey and Carol Martin, Denver, CO; Richard and Louise Eilert, Duluth, MN,; Dan and Tammy Eilert, Wichita, KS; Norman and Linda Eilert, Salina, KS; Allen and Tammy Eilert, Beloit, KS; Deanne and Alan Winkel, Glen Elder, KS; Scott and Janine Eilert, Wichita, KS; and Lisa and Ed Long, Beloit KS; along with her daughter-in-law Patricia Eilert, Branson MO; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Rosella will be dearly missed by everyone. Funeral services will be at 10 a,n, Thursday, May 4 and a rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the temporary St. John's Catholic Church (former Dollar General building). Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Donald Neil Hewitt, a man of quiet strength and unwavering dedication, passed away on April 25, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born on January 13, 1932, in Salt Creek Township, Mitchell County, Kansas, to William Neil and Neva Muriel Broadbent Hewitt.

At age four, Don started school at District 93 Iowa School in Center Township, then graduated from Beloit High School in 1949.&nbsp;

Don grew up working on his family’s farm. After high school, he continued farming with his dad, uncle Carlton, and brothers. 

He joined the United States Army on January 21, 1953.&nbsp;&nbsp;Don proudly served his country at Camp Lucas, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was honorably discharged January 20, 1955, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal.

hortly after&nbsp;returning home from&nbsp;military service,&nbsp;Don&nbsp;met&nbsp;Cylene B. Peters, and they married on November 28, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit.&nbsp;&nbsp;They lived in Kansas City briefly while Don attended trade school to learn appliance repair, then remained in the Beloit area where they raised four wonderful children together.

Don developed many talents through his lifetime; he was a skilled woodworker, mechanic, machinist, welder, repairman, an inventor, and stockman. In high school woodworking class, he crafted a footstool, bookcase, vanity/dresser, cedar chest, and using oak wood salvaged from an abandoned building, a desk – all items cherished by his family. Being self-sufficient and a&nbsp;dedicated&nbsp;provider for his family, he completed plumbing, electrical work, building, and much more. He was a&nbsp;lifelong&nbsp;farmer, worked part-time a few years for the Agricultural Stabilization Service, and served on the Center Township Board for several years.

Don's ingenuity and engineering were remarkable. With a few parts salvaged from Fred White’s lot and a Plymouth pickup, he built a front-end loader&nbsp;which he used many years to feed silage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Also from salvaged parts, he&nbsp;created a&nbsp;side-by-side&nbsp;vehicle&nbsp;made from&nbsp;two bicycle frames, a motor, and a school bus seat. He designed a tool to help farmers streamline their fence installation process; his&nbsp;electric fence post&nbsp;driver consists of a steel cap and handle welded onto a section of light-duty angle iron with a footstep on the other end. It allows users to drive fence posts into the ground using only their body weight on the step. The driver eliminates the need to remove insulators when moving posts, saving time and labor. It also eliminates the need to use a sledgehammer and prevents fatigue from manual installation methods. This practical and efficient solution was recognized and featured in Successful Farming magazine. Don, along with his son Ryan, used the driver to drive thousands of posts.

Demonstrating events most important to him, Don bought and kept an automobile for the birth year of each of his children (a 1957 Chevy Bel Aire, 1959 Plymouth Plaza, and 1974 Pontiac Bonneville), and a 1956 Jeep Pickup for the year of his marriage.Though soft-spoken and often a man of few words, Don’s actions spoke volumes. By his example, he showed how to love loyally and to laugh often. A&nbsp;caring husband and father, he smiled, joked, played, encouraged, supported, and protected. He was proud of his children and loved them unconditionally. He taught&nbsp;his children&nbsp;responsibility through his work ethic. Don would have measured success by the character of his children. Don and Cylene were blessed to spend over 66 years devoted to each other.Don was known as&nbsp;patient, calm,&nbsp;compassionate,&nbsp;gentle, and for his humility and down-to-earth nature. He was most comfortable in his Key herringbone striped overalls, chambray shirt, and house slippers. He wanted others to feel comfortable in his presence; he welcomed visitors, enjoyed listening about their experiences, and invited them to return.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Preceding in death were Don’s parents; his son Ronald Dean; two brothers, Robert and Larry; and great-granddaughter Alyssa.He leaves behind&nbsp;his loving wife Cylene; children,Carol Lea Maish and husband Alan, Renee Hewitt Soden and husband Garett, and Ryan Neil Hewitt; five grandchildren, Erin Nicole Urban and husband Jeremy, Amanda Lynn Maish, Westin Niel Lee Mash, Lakin Leekay Soden, and McKason Lendon Soden; two great-grandchildren, Sean Riley Urban and Natalie Ray Urban; and a host of other family and friends.Don's legacy lives on through his family and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
