Gerald Dean Bennett, 84, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Salina, to Carl and Dorothy (Boyd) Bennett.

Gerald was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer and worked as an automotive mechanic, owning many of his own shops over the years.

Survivors include his children Teresa McGarry and Timothy Bennett (Robin); first wife Mary Lou (Dancaster) Bennett; stepdaughter Leslie Childers; grandchildren Amanda and Christina McGarry, Andi Li, and Alexis, Ginger, and Miles Childers; great-grandchildren December, Cooper, Presley, Waylon, and one on the way; and sister-in-law Linda Bennett.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Sandra (Watson) Bennett-Barnes; stepdaughter Christy Barnes; granddaughter Selena Barnes; and brothers Harry Edward Bennett, Roger Wayne Bennett, and Robert Carl Bennett.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.

Kelsin Dean Frisbie, infant son of MaKenzie (Johnson) and Curtis Frisbie, passed away Friday, March 31st, 2023.

Survivors include his parents MaKenzie and Curtis Frisbie; two brothers, Kenison Frisbie and Coen Frisbie; grandparents Chasity Parret, Jason Johnson, Jason Frisbie, Jamie Klocke; great-grandparents Cindy Hope, Rick and Angie Frisbie;

He is preceded in death by his sister Kennedy Frisbie; aunt Kayla Parret; great-great-grandparents- Betty and Joe Billus; and other Frisbie family members including George Frisbie.

Cremation has been chosen and memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7th, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mr. Ronnie Arwood Rysdam, Jr., of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in Salina, Kansas. He was born December 20, 1967, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Ronald Arwood Rysdam, Sr., and Patricia Ruth (Jones). Ronnie worked for 1 Vision Aviation PLLC, and enjoyed golfing, motorcycle riding, and deer hunting. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Rysdam, Sr; one brother, Billy Joe Fuller; and one sister, Brenda Fuller. Linda Charlene Hand (Cleaver) passed away suddenly on March 29, 2023, in 
Corpus Christi, Texas, and went to be with her Lord at 81 years of age. She was 
born on July 24, 1941, in Missouri Valley, IA. She was raised by her 
parents Clara and Dell "Jack" Cleaver of California Junction, IA. She 
had a large family growing up with seven brothers and seven sisters. She
 was preceded in death by her parents and some of her siblings; Robert 
Cleaver 1947, Larraine Cleaver 1949, Dell Cleaver Jr. 2006, Danny 
Cleaver 1980, Mary Lou Hopkins 1991, Darla Myers 1994, Norma Jean Kirsch
 2008, Dennis Cleaver 2008, Phyllis Westcott 2009, Joy Adkins 2011, 
Leonard Cleaver 2015, Odetta Roach 2017. She is survived by her 
loving husband of almost 65 years, Francis Lee Hand Sr. Lovingly 
remembered by her surviving siblings; Jackie Gale and Larry Cleaver of 
Iowa; and her children Francis Lee Hand Jr, Tucson, AZ; William Paul 
Hand II, Salina, Ks; John Franklin Hand II, Council Bluffs, IA; and 
Julie Lynn Calderon, Las Cruces, NM. She left a legacy of family and 
will be missed by her 19 grandchildren through her children's marriages;
 Lisa, Melissa, Charlie, Shaylene, Chanel, Maverick, Sheyenne, Savannah,
 Christian, Kari Jo, Steven, Stephanie, Kira, Christopher, Dustin, 
Charlie, Charlene, Daniel, Kimberly and 29 Great Grandchildren; 
Nicholas, Shandi, Chelsea, Cassidy, Cody, Jaicee, Cutler, Kaylee,

Asher. Background: She attended elementary school in California 
Junction until 8th grade and then attended high school in Missouri 
Valley, IA. She met her future husband in the Spring of 1958 while she 
was sitting at a bus stop on 6th Street in Missouri Valley with two of 
her friends. He pulled up in his car and asked the girls if they wanted a
 ride home and they all jumped in the car. He made sure that she was in 
the front seat with him, and the other girls were in the back seat. He 
strategically dropped the other girls off and then drove her home. They
 started dating right away and three months later he proposed to her, 
and she accepted. They were married in Missouri Valley on November 8, 
1958. She was a homemaker, and her husband was in the Air Force Reserves
 until their first child Francis Lee Hand Jr. was born in 1961. Shortly 
after that her husband enlisted in the Army and she gladly stayed home 
to take care of the child. In 1962 they moved to the next duty station 
in Fulda, Germany, where their second child William Paul Hand II was born
 in 1963. In 1965, they moved back to the United States and her 
husband was sent to complete tours of duty in both Viet Nam and Korea. 
During that time, she and the children lived in Missouri Valley to be 
close to family. Linda worked various jobs and took care of the 
children, while her husband was assigned overseas. Upon her husband's
 return, they moved to Council Bluffs, IA and their third child John 
Franklin Hand II was born in 1968. She worked at Campbell's soup factory
 during this time. She finally got her wish for a daughter with the 
birth of Julie Lynn Hand in 1970. They moved to Frankfurt, Germany in
 1970 for her husband's final overseas assignment. In 1973 they moved to
 Ft. Riley, Ks and lived off base in Junction City until his retirement 
from the Army in 1977. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at a local nursing 
home, and she enjoyed visiting with the residents and would often pick 
fresh strawberries from her home garden to share with them. In 1979,&nbsp; they moved to Abilene, KS and she continued working as a Nurse's Aide at
 a local nursing home, until they moved back to Iowa to be close to 
family in 1982. She retired and they eventually moved to 
Rockport/Fulton, TX in 1995. She was always excited when family visited 
and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren playing card
 games with them. She really enjoyed traveling and taking cruises to 
Alaska, Cancun, Hawaii, Mediterranean Sea and the Panama Canal with 
their best friends, Gary and Linda Wrestler. The highlight of her day 
was spending time with her dachshunds, pushing them around the yard in a
 stroller and spoiling them. She dreamed of winning the "lottery" and
 loved getting scratch-off tickets to play. She once won $1000 from a 
Lucky Slots ticket, and she shared her winnings with her children. When 
the local VFW in Rockport had Bingo night, she enjoyed taking her 
children and grandchildren to play along while they were visiting. When 
she visited family out of state, she enjoyed going to the local casinos 
and playing the penny slot machines. She believed in the saying "you 
can't win if you don't play." A Service of Remembrance will be held 
at Charlie Marshall Chapel at 814 East Main Street, Rockport, TX 78382 
on April 4, 2023, at 11:30 am. Family visitation will be at 10 am with 
the public welcome at 11 am. Interment to follow at Aransas Memorial

Charles "Chuck" Donald Rapp, 76, of Salina, passed away Friday, March 31st, 2023. Charles was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 5, 1946, a son of Betty (Hill) and Ralph Rapp and was a lifelong resident of Kansas. He married Catherine I. Moore on March 16, 1971 in Garfield, Kansas and had 2 children, Troy and Trinnette. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; daughter, Trinnette Devere (Jerry Tillett), of Salina; sister, Connie Gabbert, of Cape Fair, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, Jessica, Carlie, Jordan, Chey, Hayven, Hunter, Jack, Alex, Kamryn; 10 great grandchildren; nieces, great nieces, and great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Troy Rapp; brother, R.D. Rapp; and his dog, Boomer. Chuck attended Northwestern School of Taxidermy in Omaha, Nebraska during the summer of 1963 and graduated from Larned Senior High School in May 1964. He joined the United States Navy and served from August 1964 to August 1967. He served one year of duty in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in Vietnam in 1965. He attended college at Wichita State University and earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration, worked for 32 years with Kansas Gas Service and retired in September 2003 at the age of 56. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Volunteer Connections, Geocache Club, Salina Hiking Club, Rendezvous Hiking Club, Kansas Historical Geeks, Abandon Kansas Club, Kansas Morel Club, and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was a person who loved his family deeply. He lived a good and honorable life, believed everyone dies, but not everyone lives. And he lived a fun and successful life most of his life. Cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 6th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Troy Rapp; brother, R.D. Rapp; and his dog, Boomer. Chuck attended Northwestern School of Taxidermy in Omaha, Nebraska during the summer of 1963 and graduated from Larned Senior High School in May 1964. He joined the United States Navy and served from August 1964 to August 1967. He served one year of duty in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in Vietnam in 1965. He attended college at Wichita State University and earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration, worked for 32 years with Kansas Gas Service and retired in September 2003 at the age of 56. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Volunteer Connections, Geocache Club, Salina Hiking Club, Rendezvous Hiking Club, Kansas Historical Geeks, Abandon Kansas Club, Kansas Morel Club, and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was a person who loved his family deeply. He lived a good and honorable life, believed everyone dies, but not everyone lives. And he lived a fun and successful life most of his life. Kim was born on August 21, 1967, in El Dorado, KS, the daughter of Ronald Lee and Cynthia Ann (Kail) Stockham.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School in 1986.&nbsp;

During her working years, Kim did in-home care for the elderly.&nbsp;

CONCORDIA - Armand J. Naillieux, age 93, of Concordia, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his home in Concordia. He was born on April 3, 1929 in Concordia, Kansas to Joseph &amp; Mary (Swanson) Naillieux, Jr.

Armand was a 1946 graduate of Concordia High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;He married Esther Grounds on March 12, 1954 in Beatrice, Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp;She preceded him on March 16, 2018.&nbsp;

Armand was a lifetime area farmer and rancher in the Cloud County area.

Armand &amp; Esther enjoyed dancing together at different dance venues.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, N.F.O. &amp; N.F.U.

He is survived by a son, Larry Naillieux (Anna), Concordia; daughters, Deborah Baltazor (Rex), Wamego &amp; Donna Justin (Michael), Clifton; 5 grandchildren &amp; 3 great grandchildren; niece, Sue Spinelli (Charlie), Churchhill, MT.

CONCORDIA - Sharon K. (Meier) Coy, age 85, formerly of Concordia, Kansas, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Azria Health in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on August 18, 1937, in Salina, Kansas, to David B. and Ethel Delilah (Ward) Meier.

She lived in Lucas, Kansas, until 1943 when she moved with her parents to Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; She graduated from Concordia High School in 1955.&nbsp; In 1957 she married Jack Lyle Coy in Concordia.&nbsp; Their daughter, Sherri Lynn, was born in 1959 in North Tonawanda, N.Y.&nbsp; Their marriage ended in divorce.

She was a longtime employee of The Blade-Empire, working first as an assistant bookkeeper, later as a typesetter and for many years as a reporter and editor of the People Page where she especially enjoyed writing feature stories.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary and Cloud County Historical Society. She loved to swim and sing, alone and with others. She found great joy in the many flowers her daughter would plant for her every Mother’s Day and never met a cat or dog she didn’t like.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Wood of Park City; sister, Mary Ann Gile and husband Bill of Citrus Heights, California; nieces Lynne Tracy-Kendall and Laurie Roper of Sacramento, CA; and nephews, Steve Gile of Eureka, California, and David Meier of France; and her cat, Oreo.

Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Sharon K. (Meier) Coy

Calvin Leroy “Trapper” Calp, 75, passed away on March 31, 2023, at 
Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kan. He was born on May 27, 1947, in 
Baltimore, Maryland, to Austin and Lillian (Tuzicka) Calp. In 1981, he 
married Elizabeth Myers-Springer in Great Bend, Kan. She survives.

A lifelong area resident, Calvin owned and operated Calp Furs. He 
also worked as a bartender at Slack's. In his spare time, he enjoyed 
riding motorcycles in his young years. Calvin was an outstanding trapper
 and fisherman, and was revered by many in the areas.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Calvin Calp Jr. and 
significant other, Tracey, of Salina, Kan.; a daughter, Carrie Holland 
of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a half 
sister, Betty Puckett of Texas; a half brother, Alvin Brazda of Las 
Vegas, Nev.; and a stepson Leonard Mumford and significant other, 
Jozette. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charles 
“Charley” Calp.

Visitation will take place noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 
2023, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at 
Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. 
Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Encounter Church, 601 S. Patton Road, with 
Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding. Interment will follow at St. Ann

Don D. Tatro, 93, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at The Cedars, McPherson.&nbsp;

Don was born on April 10, 1929, in Cherokee, OK, the son of LeRoy “Lee” Ottowa Tatro and Dora Edith (Hale) Tatro.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;He attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Alva High School in Alva, OK.&nbsp; On June 6, 1948, Don was united in marriage to Cleta E. Richardson in Alva, OK.&nbsp;

Don was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952.&nbsp; He served in the 45th&nbsp;Infantry Division and was honorably discharged at the rank of corporal.

While living in Oklahoma, Don worked for Shalloup Packing Company for five years and Carmen Locker &amp; Ice Plant for three years.&nbsp; While living in Pratt, KS, Don worked for Cudahy Packing Company in sales and management for 20 years. In 1980, he and Cleta purchased the Zip Trip Convenience Store until 1987 and sold to the Bridgman Oil Company.&nbsp; In 1988, they purchased a liquor store, known as Tatro Liquor, in Pratt.&nbsp; They sold the store in 1994, retired, and moved back to Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;

Don enjoyed bowling, golf, old cars, hunting with his four sons and brother, Robert “Bob”, who passed away in 2003.

Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Cleta; four sons, Thomas Tatro and wife, Marla, of Broken Arrow, OK, Terry Tatro and wife, Pat, of Issaquah, WA, Bob Tatro and wife, Becky, of McPherson, KS, and Gary Tatro and wife, Jo, of Cheney, KS; ten grandchildren, Ethan Tatro, Anna Tatro, Tammi Kirkpatrick, Kyle Tatro, Meghann Sterling, Chelsea Thul, Audrey Reese, Jessica Gillette, Zac Tatro, and Breanna Tatro; two step-granddaughters, Monica and Morgan; 22 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Kevin Lee Bruner, Sr., 60, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his home in McPherson. Kevin was a warehouse material handler for Pfizer in McPherson.

Kevin was born on December 13, 1962, in Columbia, MO, the son of Ralph Eugene and Donna Sue (Byrd) Bruner.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1981.&nbsp; Kevin was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Wright on March 31, 2002.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two sons, Aubrey and Kevin, Jr.

Kevin Lee Bruner, Sr.

Dr. Victor B. Streufert, 96, of Lindsborg died March 24, 2023, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.  He was born on October 1, 1926, to the Rev. Alfred and Lydia (Brauer) Streufert in Annandale, Minnesota.  Following his mother’s death during his early infancy, he was lovingly raised in Oak Park, Illinois by his uncle and aunt, Walter and Anna Berndt. 

He was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL and graduated from Concordia High School and Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL. In 1945, he taught at a one-room school at St. John’s, Lyons Creek, near Herington, KS.  In 1948, he studied and taught at St. John’s College in Winfield, KS where he also coached track. 

In 1952, he began teaching at Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL, where he met Carolyn (Kay) Schmidt, a student from Garfield Heights, Ohio. They married on June 17, 1956.  

After gaining degrees from Concordia Seminary (St. Louis, Missouri), Washington University (St. Louis, Missouri), and Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, Illinois), he was ordained as a pastor and called to teach at Concordia College (Illinois), Bethany College (Kansas), and Concordia College (Nebraska).  

He also assisted with church planning for the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA) and the Northern Illinois District of the Missouri Synod. He was involved in church-related statistical analyses and helped found the Center for Social Research in the Church (CenSRCH) at Concordia College, River Forest. 

Upon retirement in Lindsborg in 1991, he provided pulpit supply for many area congregations and assisted Bethany College with institutional research. He also led the Christmas German service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina for twenty years.

Vic was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed gardening, telling jokes, finding out people’s stories, and helping Christians work together.

His family was his joy. He is survived by his wife, Kay, of Lindsborg; children: Peter (Deanna) of London, ON; Jean (Mike) of Mitchell, SD; Stephen (Lisa) of Bainbridge Island, WA; and Ann (Terry) of Decorah, IA. Also thanking the Lord for his life are seven grandchildren: Kari (Dave), Erik, Catherine (Reid), Shea (Emma), Kendall, Stella, Pete; five great-grandchildren: Eva, Orin, Jacob, Soren, Collins; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Vic was preceded in death by nine siblings: Herbert (Norma), Gertrude Christensen (Hans), Edgar (Verona), Mark (Selma), Bert (Adeline), Cordelia Koepke (Edwin), Hildegarde Crane (Frank), Carl (Phyllis), and Alfred (Laurie). 

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 pm.  A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S. 9th St., Salina. The family invites everyone to these services.

Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on September 11, 1952, in 
Herington to Clarence Dale and Betty (Ruppel) Brown. Gary married Deanna
 Sue Dix-Brown on October 6, 2001 in Pratt. They were married for 21 
years. Charlie graduated from Herington High School in 1970 and 
was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge, Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way 
Employees Division (BMWED) and American Railway and Airway Supervisor 
Association (ARASA). He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and retired as
 a track inspector after 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, mowing
 the yard, washing cars, and spending time with friends and family. 
Charlie never met a stranger! He is survived by his wife, Dea; 
son, Tyler (Leslee) Brown of Wichita; daughters, Amy Brown of Wichita 
and Kylee (Charlie) Bacon of Andover; sisters, Gaylene Staatz of 
Herington and Glenda Payne of Abilene; brother, Jerry Brown of 
Marysville; and grandchildren, Lauren and Ty Brown and Jackson and 
Hudson Bacon. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Shawn Brown. Cremation

Gary D. Jennings, 80, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023.&nbsp; He was born May 12, 1942, in Salina, Kansas, to Clarence Henry and Nathalie Louise (Sampson) Jennings.&nbsp; He married Ruby Manny on December 19, 1965, in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; Gary served as a member in the National Guard.&nbsp; He enjoyed drag racing and held a record for the National Hot Rod Association.&nbsp; Gary served 33 years for USD 305 his many roles included custodian, building operator, carpenter and locksmith.&nbsp; He enjoyed traveling to watch Jason play baseball and shared a love for cars with his son Shawn.&nbsp; Gary was a family man and a firm believer in Christ. 

He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home; children, Shawn Jennings, of Salina, Jason Jennings, of Olathe, Michael Jennings, of Colorado and Pamela Rietz, of Colorado; sisters, Constance Pender, of Las Vegas, and Patricia Gruber, of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Jennings; brothers, Robert Jennings and Richard Jennings.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 14, at First Covenant Church, Salina.

Phyllis Jacqueline (Trow) Dority, 83, of Bennington, Kansas, passed away, Wednesday, March 29, at Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield, Kansas. Phyllis was born on August 13, 1939, in Minneapolis, Kansas, to Tommy and Bernice (Joseph) Trow. She was the oldest of three girls. Phyllis was raised in Minneapolis and Salina. She was a majorette for Salina Central High School. Phyllis married Arlen N. Dority on Feb 6, 1957. After they married, they lived in Salina for 9 years before moving to Aurora, Colorado, where they lived for 12 years. They moved back and settled down in Bennington in 1978. She was a homemaker but also worked for Swift Processing in Salina, was the Bakery Manager for King Sooper in Aurora, Colorado and as a waitress at Bayard's Cafe in Salina. Phyllis loved to sew and made Barbie clothes for the girls for Christmas. She also loved living in the country where her husband, father, and family helped build their home. She also liked doing ceramics, camping, traveling, dancing, and puzzles. Survivors include her daughters, Lanette Millieson (Ron), Keyna Leonard (Sam); son, Douglas Dority; sister, Debby Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. She also raised Kodiak Dority as her own. She loved him with all of her heart and was very proud of his accomplishments in life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years; sister, Patricia; granddaughter, Clairessa; grandson, James; and great grandson, Aaron. Phyllis Jacqueline (Trow) Dority

Robert “Bob” Henry Gebhart, age 90, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, went home 
to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 26th, 2023, surrounded by his family
 at his home. 

 A visitation is planned for Thursday, April 6th, at the 
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home at 5:00 pm with a memorial service 
starting at 7:00 pm.  Immediately following that service his family will
 be hosting a gathering to celebrate his life at the Harrington Family 
Event Center (next-door to the funeral home). 

In lieu of flowers, the 
family requests memorial contributions to the Disabled American 
Veterans. 
Bob was born on August 15, 1932, in Salina, Kansas, and was the youngest 
of two sons born to Joseph &amp; Ida (Barr) Gebhart. Bob grew up in the
 Salina and Ada, Kansas, area, graduating from Ada High School in the 
Class of 1951.

 He married Marcylene “Marcy” Kissick on Oct. 19, 1952 
and together they made their home in Salina and later moved to the 
Kansas City (Piper), Kansas, area in 1958 where they raised their three 
children: Mike, Sherry and Terry.  Marcy preceded him in death in 2007. 

Bob served in the Naval Air Reserves in Olathe, Kansas from 1951 to 
1953. He then served in the US Army, C Battery, 734th Anti-Aircraft 
Artillery Battalion in Chicago, Illinois, from 1953 to 1955. After the 
Military and his time in the Reserves, Bob had a long career as a grain 
merchandiser, working for Smoot Grain, Gooch Feed and later retired from
 Bartlett Grain in 2003. He served on the Piper Board of Education, 
was a member of the Piper Prairie Optimist Club and an active member of 
the Wolcott Baptist Church. 
On March 28, 2009, Bob married Donna (Stuart-Payne) at the Maywood 
Community Church. They resided in the Piper area until they moved to 
Bonner Springs, KS in 2019. During his retirement Bob enjoyed 
traveling, working in his yard, spending time at the farm, organizing 
his antiques &amp; collectibles, and following the local sports teams: 
KC Chiefs, KC Royals, and the K-State Wildcats. However, his biggest 
enjoyment involved interacting with people, spending time with his 
family &amp; friends and attending activities &amp; sporting events for 
his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was very proud to say 
that he and Donna had a total of 34 grandchildren! 
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Gebhart and by a step-son Michael Payne. 
He is survived by his wife Donna Gebhart of the home, his children Mike 
(Connie) Gebhart of Barnard, KS, Sherry (Scott) McKinley of Basehor, KS,
 and Terry (Gene) Kubicki of Kansas City, Kansas, Stepchildren Christy 
(Chase) Zellers of Orlando, FL, Nikki Gravatt of Kansas City, KS, Kim 
(Mike) Malone of Bonner Springs, KS; 9 grandchildren, 10 
great-grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 6 
step-great-grandchildren. 
Bob was a constant of acceptance, support, encouragement and love. He will be missed by many.

 </figure>Robert “Bob” Henry Gebhart, age 90, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, went home 
to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 26th, 2023, surrounded by his family
 at his home. A visitation is planned for Thursday, April 6th, at the 
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home at 5:00 pm with a memorial service 
starting at 7:00 pm. Immediately following that service his family will
 be hosting a gathering to celebrate his life at the Harrington Family 
Event Center (next-door to the funeral home). In lieu of flowers, the 
family requests memorial contributions to the Disabled American 
Veterans. 
Bob was born on August 15, 1932, in Salina, Kansas, and was the youngest 
of two sons born to Joseph &amp; Ida (Barr) Gebhart. Bob grew up in the
 Salina and Ada, Kansas, area, graduating from Ada High School in the 
Class of 1951. He married Marcylene “Marcy” Kissick on Oct. 19, 1952 
and together they made their home in Salina and later moved to the 
Kansas City (Piper), Kansas, area in 1958 where they raised their three 
children: Mike, Sherry and Terry. Marcy preceded him in death in 2007. 
 Bob served in the Naval Air Reserves in Olathe, Kansas from 1951 to 
1953. He then served in the US Army, C Battery, 734th Anti-Aircraft 
Artillery Battalion in Chicago, Illinois, from 1953 to 1955. After the 
Military and his time in the Reserves, Bob had a long career as a grain 
merchandiser, working for Smoot Grain, Gooch Feed and later retired from
 Bartlett Grain in 2003. He served on the Piper Board of Education, 
was a member of the Piper Prairie Optimist Club and an active member of 
the Wolcott Baptist Church. 
On March 28, 2009, Bob married Donna (Stuart-Payne) at the Maywood 
Community Church. They resided in the Piper area until they moved to 
Bonner Springs, KS in 2019. During his retirement Bob enjoyed 
traveling, working in his yard, spending time at the farm, organizing 
his antiques &amp; collectibles, and following the local sports teams: 
KC Chiefs, KC Royals, and the K-State Wildcats. However, his biggest 
enjoyment involved interacting with people, spending time with his 
family &amp; friends and attending activities &amp; sporting events for 
his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was very proud to say 
that he and Donna had a total of 34 grandchildren! 
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Gebhart and by a step-son Michael Payne.

Robert 'Bob' Henry Gebhart

Joyce Lee (Wray) Shriner, 87, of Geneseo, Kansas, passed away March 27, 2023, at the Salina Presbyterian Manor, Salina, Kansas. She was born July 10, 1935, in Salinas, California, the daughter of Ernest E. and Lydia M. (Galyardt) Wray. 

Joyce resided in Geneseo for 69 years, and was formerly of Lyons, Kansas. She graduated from Lyons High School, with the class of 1953. Joyce was a homemaker. She worked for the United States Postal Service from 1977 until retiring in 1997. Joyce was a member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church, where she served on numerous church committees, sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School. 

She was a member of the United Methodist Women, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Geneseo, Girl Scouts of America, and the Geneseo Ladies Thanksgiving Club. Joyce served on the Rice County Election Board and Geneseo Library Board. She enjoyed singing, reading, cooking, and spending time with family. 

On August 29, 1953, Joyce was united in marriage with James William “Jim” Shriner in Lincoln, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2021. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Wray; sister-in-law, Marlyn Wray; brother-in-law, Jim Ludes; son-in-law, David Phillips. 

Joyce is survived by her three children, Jamie Lea Shriner Hart and husband Randall of Midwest City, OK, Jerri Lynn Shriner Phillips of Salina, KS, and James Wayne Shriner of Geneseo and girlfriend Dianna Lange of Lyons, KS; sister, Evelyn Ludes of Great Bend, KS; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Geneseo United Methodist Church, Geneseo, with Pastor Steve Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at the Geneseo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present.

Joyce Lee (Wray) Shriner

Josephine Marie (Holzmeister) Kuntz, 99, of Quinter, Kansas, passed 
away on&nbsp;March 28, 2023, at the Gove County Long Term Care in Quinter. 
Josephine was&nbsp;born on January 23, 1924, on a farm North of Bison, KS to 
John and Susan (Herman) Holzmeister.

She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Loretta, then graduated 
from high school at Otis, KS. After graduation she attended Salt City 
Business College in Hutchinson, KS, graduated and moved to Salina, KS 
where she worked for two years at the Smokey Hill Air Base as a 
secretary/typist. Her parents then moved from rural Rush County to a 
farm North of Quinter. She then moved home, and there she met her future
 husband, Nicholas Kuntz, in 1945, later marrying on October 15, 1946. 
He preceded her in death on August 7, 2001.

Josephine was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 
Park, KS and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She will be remembered for 
her daily devotion to prayer, many times you would see or hear her 
praying as she worked. Josephine worked alongside her husband on the 
farm, raised chickens for eggs and butchering, and milked cows for the 
sale of cream, milk, and butter to area residents most of her adult 
life. She loved to grow produce to can and feed her large family in the 
spring and summer. She was a wonderful cook and baker and rarely used 
recipes. Josephine also shared her love to dance with her husband, they 
were very well known for leading wedding marches.

She is survived by her six children, four boys, D.Allen (Esta), 
Michael (Jone), Carlyle, and Charles (Deb), all of Quinter, and two 
daughters, Kathryn Fossett of Golden, Colorado, and Lois Ann (Philip) 
McClanahan of Salina, 11 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 6 great 
grandchildren, and 14 step-great grandchildren, 4 step-great great 
grandchildren, one brother, Edwin Holzmeister of Hays, one 
sister-in-law, Pauline Holzmeister of Salina, and many nieces and 
nephews.

Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers,
 Aaron (Joyce), Sylvester (Geneva), Lawrence (Francis), Hubert 
(Elenora), Abraham, and Arnold, one sister, Frieda (George) Waldman, 
brother-in-law, Carl Headrick, and one sister-in-law, Darlene 
Holzmeister.

Funeral service will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 
Park on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the 
Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Schmitt Funeral Home, 
Quinter, on Friday, March 31, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. with a vigil 
following at 7:30 p.m.

Donna Schneider, 95, died on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton. She was born on March 31, 1927, in Lane County, the 
daughter of James Henry &amp; Ethel Rose (Myers) McCoy. She married 
Forrest H. Schneider on May 27, 1945, in Lane County. He died on May 15,
 2020. 
Donna attended Pleasant View Grade School and graduated from Dighton 
High School. She and her husband lived in Lane County until 1953 when 
they moved to Salida, Colorado. While there she had several jobs 
including working at a drive in restaurant, at a resort restaurant in 
Poncha Springs, the Salida Flower Shop, Clerk at a Department Store 
before becoming the bookkeeper at Coca-Cola. In 1980, they moved back to
 Dighton and she worked at Whiting’s Department Store.

She was a member
 of First Christian Church, ESA Sorority and the Red Hat Society. She 
and her husband enjoyed traveling to warmer weather in the winters to 
Del Rio, Texas; Mesa, Arizona; and Lake Havasu, Arizona. She had many 
interests including camping, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, arts and 
crafts, quilting and playing cards and dominos. 
She is survived by her Sister- Rita Roehl of Dighton, Nieces and 
Nephews- Glenda (Jamie) Cheatum of Salina, Cindy (Jerry) Bailey of Scott
 City, Rad Roehl (Kathryn) of Dighton, Diana (Terry) Cramer of Orange 
Beach, Alabama, Anita Mumma of Phoenix, Arizona, Pam (Greg) Augustine of
 Ellis and Cheri Benjamin of Antigua, West Indies. She is preceded in 
death by her Parents, Husband, Brother- Roland McCoy and Sister- 
Inabelle Mumma.

Linda Marie Chilson, 84, passed away on March 25, 2023 at McPherson Hospital in McPherson, KS. Linda was born on June 06, 1938 in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Eugene and Emma Marie (Hall) Shawly. Linda attended Lincoln Grade School, McPherson Park School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, KS. Through the years, Linda worked as a homemaker. She was employed by Farmers Alliance. She then worked as a control clerk for NCRA for over 25 years until she retired. Linda enjoyed painting, drawing, gardening in her back yard, watching her flowers bloom, reading, shopping, fishing, camping, getting her hair done. She looked forward to meeting her friends for coffee and swimming. She loved being with her church family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. Linda M. Shawly was united in marriage to Billy Gene Chilson on November 22, 1955 in Hutchinson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of five children, Billy Jr., Jerry, Michael, Mitchell, and Shelley. Linda is survived by her children, Michael Chilson and wife Christy, of Indianapolis, IN, Shelley Koehn and husband Michael, of Halstead, KS; 18 grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda), Jason (Ashley), Jared (Melissa), Megan (Matthew), Jordan (Sarah), Mary (Oliver), Michaela (Justin), Joel, Josiah, Malissa, Marcia, Micah, Job, Gracie, Justin (Jamie), Amy (Shawn), Brandon (Ariel) and Sarah; 19 great grandchildren; and her sister, Lodene Cooper of Magnolia, Texas. Linda Marie Chilson

Christopher L. Cease was born June 30, 1973 in Wamego, Kansas the son of Larry and Sheryl (Holloway) Cease. He grew up in Wamego enjoying playing sports and graduated from Wamego High School with the class of 1991. (Not sure on that) On April 29, 2011 he was united in marriage to Tonya Martens in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Chris was a hard working dad and husband and was very involved with his kids, helping them by coaching baseball, basketball, and football. He worked for Midco Plastics in Enterprise for several years as a Production Manager and then for Land Pride as a paint line lead. Chris passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at his home in Abilene with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Tonya of the home, father Larry Cease of Wamego, sons Christopher and his wife Jewlia Cease of Abilene, Chrisxavier Cease of Enterprise, step daughter Kyla Hasselman of Abilene, step sons Logan Hasselman of Washington State, Rhyce Hasselman of Abilene, Nathan Hasselman of Abilene, brother Garnett Cease and his wife Annie of Manhattan, grandchildren Ella and Oaklen Cease.  </figure>Christopher L. Cease was born June 30, 1973 in Wamego, Kansas the son of Larry and Sheryl (Holloway) Cease. He grew up in Wamego enjoying playing sports and graduated from Wamego High School with the class of 1991. (Not sure on that) On April 29, 2011 he was united in marriage to Tonya Martens in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Chris was a hard working dad and husband and was very involved with his kids, helping them by coaching baseball, basketball, and football. He worked for Midco Plastics in Enterprise for several years as a Production Manager and then for Land Pride as a paint line lead. Chris passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at his home in Abilene with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Tonya of the home, father Larry Cease of Wamego, sons Christopher and his wife Jewlia Cease of Abilene, Chrisxavier Cease of Enterprise, step daughter Kyla Hasselman of Abilene, step sons Logan Hasselman of Washington State, Rhyce Hasselman of Abilene, Nathan Hasselman of Abilene, brother Garnett Cease and his wife Annie of Manhattan, grandchildren Ella and Oaklen Cease. He was preceded in death by his mother. Cremation has been selected by Chris’s family. A memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Danner Funeral Home in Abilene. Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher Cease Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Peter Joseph McSpadden, 26, passed away on March 23, 2023, with his family and friends by his side. Peter was born in Longmont, Colorado on April 7, 1996, to Becky McSpadden and Mark Freimuth.

Peter was an avid outdoorsman, with a love for fishing, hunting, trapping, and archery. He loved being outside! Peter enjoyed spending time with his friends, who he loved like family. He was a fun-loving, extremely caring, fun, goofy spirit. He will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to know and love him.

Survivors include his father, Mark (Nancy) Freimuth, and siblings, Crystal Freeman, Russell Taylor, and Rory Fairchild. Nieces and nephews; Addison, Mayce, Sheldon, and Paislyn. Grandmother, Sherry Freimuth, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of life will take place on April 7th, 2023, at the Blind Pig Sports Lounge, 2501 Market Place, Salina, KS, from 4-8 p.m. Feel free to come and go as you please.

April 7th is Peter’s actual birthday so this will be a true celebration of his life!
