Stella Krannawitter, 98, Hoxie, KS passed away on October 17th, at Prairie Senior Living Center in Colby, KS. She was born April 21, 1925, in Grinnell, KS to John and Mary (Ostmeyer) Bixenman. Stella attended Pleasant Ridge School, a country school north of Grinnell, Kansas along with her four siblings.

In Stella’s younger years, she lived on her parents’ farm north of Grinnell. She later met Ed (Eddie) Krannawitter at a dance, and they were married in Angelus, Ks. They celebrated 50 years of marriage until Eddie’s death in July of 1996. Together, Eddie and Stella farmed and raised livestock on their homestead located SW of Hoxie where they raised eight children.

Stella was a housewife, but she was also a very active partner in farming and ranching. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and visiting family and friends. She spent many hours cooking and baking pastries for her family and the Hoxie community. She always had cinnamon rolls in her freezer ready to go.

Survivors include her three daughters, Karen Kraft (Jerry), Salina, KS, LaDonna Bell (Wally), Helena MT and Kathy Vaughn (Rick), Colby, KS; three surviving sons, Terry Krannawitter (Sylvia), Hays, KS, Keith Krannawitter (Cheri), Olathe, KS and Bill Krannawitter, Enid, OK; son-in-law, Lynn McBride Paola, KS, daughter-in-law Deanna Krannawitter Olathe, KS brother Bill Bixenman of Grinnell, KS and many loved grand, great- grand, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Ed Krannawitter; two children, Jane McBride, and Mark Krannawitter; granddaughter, Mandy Bell; great grandson, Eddie Mendez; sister, Doris Manhart; and brothers, Fred and Joe Bixenman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, October 21, 2023, at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Hoxie, KS with burial at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm with family receiving friends from 5:30 pm. The Vigil Service will start at 7:00 pm. Arthur Mythias House, 21, of Janesville, WI, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Navy Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA.&nbsp; He was an active duty Pharmacy Technician in the United States Navy.

Arthur was born on February 3, 2002.&nbsp; He graduated from J.A. Craig High School in Janesville, WI and the Medical Education &amp; Training Campus at Fort Sam Houston, TX.&nbsp;

On October 11, 2022, Arthur was united in marriage to Haley Lychelle Schafer.&nbsp;

Survivors include: his wife, Haley of Virginia Beach, VA; parents, Dontae House, Mikki Spaeth, and Trina Benter, all of Janesville, WI; uncle, Tyrone Murry of Beloit, WI; grandmother, Twana House of Beloit, WI; great-grandmother, Minnie Murry of Beloit, WI; parents-in-law, David &amp; Sheryl Schafer of McPherson, KS; brothers-in-law, Dustin Schafer and Nick (Ashley) Schafer, all of McPherson, KS; many nieces &amp; nephews, cousins, other extended family members and friends.

Patricia Camarena-Bishop&nbsp;was born February 24, 1959, in Salina, Kansas to Rudolph Camarena and Mary Camarena. She passed away on October 13th surrounded by her loved ones.

Patti was very well known for being a hard-working, independent, generous, and loving woman, mother and grandmother. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 20 years and made lots of friends during her time there. After retirement, she spent her time at home with her animals that she loved so deeply and spent quality time with her family.

Survivors include her four siblings, Greg Camarena of Larned, Bob Camarena (Mary Kay) of Overland Park, Cathy Hadorn (David) of Salina and Maria Looney (Jeff) of Salina and her daughter Stacey Powell of Salina and her three grandchildren Alexis and Addison Powell of Salina and Andruw Bishop of Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph, and Mary Camarena; her sister, Linda Schumacher; her son CJ Bishop; her sister-in-law Joy L. Camarena; her nephew Christopher R. Camarena, son of Bob and Mary Kay Camarena.

Bernard Wayne Duskie, 89, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023.&nbsp; He was born April 23, 1934 in Beloit, KS to Joseph and Bernice (Kelley) Duskie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley Duskie; brother, Robert “Jerry” Duskie; and sister Patricia Duskie Winkel and her husband Jerry Winkel.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Bonnie; son, Michael; granddaughter, Breanna Huen (Chuck); grandsons, Ryan Duskie (Brandi), Drew Duskie (Shannon), Mason Duskie; granddaughter, Caitlin Duskie; sister-in-law, Joyce Duskie; several great-grandchildren, including one special great-granddaughter, Ashlynd Rossi Lou Huen who was a great joy to him; and many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Michelle Azada Burns, 54, of Salina, died Sunday (October 15, 2023) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on February 3, 1969 in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Michelle graduated from Leilehua High School in Wahiawa and had worked in Japan as a teachers assistant.

She married Steven Kelly Burns on August 4, 1992 in Wahiawa, Hawaii. They lived in&nbsp;Joint Base Lewis-McChord prior to moving to Salina, Kansas in 2011.

While living in Salina, Michelle had been a substitute teacher and para professional.

Survivors include her husband Steven of the home; children Erika Wegele of Manhattan, Ks., Zachary Burns of Salina, Dakota Burns of Wichita, Ks., Cheyenne Burns and Brittany Burns both of Salina; four grandchildren Kaliope Wegele, Dakota Burns, Jr., Landan Burns, and Wynton Wegele.

Michelle is also survived by her mother Liza Littao; father and step-mother Robert and Vinda Littao; and brother Robert Littao, Jr. all of Whitemore Village, Hawaii; sisters Carmen Dudoit of San Diego, Calif., Ruby Littao of Maui, Hawii, Betty Littao of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine Jenks of Maui, Gail Littao, Sharlene Littao, Vanessa Merhtens, and Beverly Littao all of Whitmore Village.

Michelle Azada Burns

Danny O’Dell, 76, a lifetime McPherson, KS resident, peacefully entered into his heavenly home in the early morning hours on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at McPherson Hospital.&nbsp;

Robert Danny O’Dell was born on August 3, 1947, in McPherson, KS, the son of Ivan Luther and Grace Bertagene “Jean” (Rife) O’Dell.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1965.&nbsp; Danny attended Central College from 1965 to 1968 and McPherson College from 1968 to 1973, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.&nbsp; On June 4, 1972, Danny was united in marriage to Janet S. “Jan” Rolander in McPherson.&nbsp; They were married over 41 years prior to Jan’s passing on November 22, 2014.

Danny owned and operated O’Dell’s Laundry.&nbsp; He started working there as a teenager, riding in and driving a truck. He sold O’Dell’s Laundry on June 30, 2013.

Danny was very active in the Scouting program.&nbsp; He joined Cub Scouts in September of 1955.&nbsp; He went through the ranks from Cubbing to the Arrow of Light rank, the highest achievement of Cub Scouting, and joined Troop 117 as a Boy Scout in the fall of 1958.&nbsp; He went through the required Boy Scout ranks to Eagle Scout, which is the highest achievement attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. He completed the Eagle Scout Service project in July of 1965.&nbsp; He also earned an additional award above the Eagle rank, the Bronze Palm.&nbsp; He was also selected to be a member of Order of the Arrow, and within this organization, he was nominated and elected for the Vigil Honor.&nbsp; In adulthood, he continued to be active by being a Lifesaving Merit Badge counselor and assistant Scout leader for Webelos.

On July 10, 2008, Danny was involved in a car wreck, losing mobility.&nbsp; Over the years, he has overcome many obstacles due to the wreck.&nbsp; In that same year, he lost his right eye due to cancer.

Danny was a former member of McPherson Free Methodist Church and current member of First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Since 2015, he has volunteered at First United Methodist Church, making sure the building’s needs were met.&nbsp; For example, he would make sure the doors were locked.&nbsp; Since June 1, 2018, he was put in charge of all the building operations, becoming the Facilities Administrator.

Danny is survived by his brother, David (Evy) O’Dell of McPherson, KS; children, Timothy (Heather) O’Dell of Minneapolis, MN, Will O’Dell of Topeka, KS, and Sheila O’Dell of Kansas City, KS; two nieces, Crystal Clobes and children, Acacia and Adie, and Rozalynn (Ken) Frey and children, Lilly, Cooper, Carter, and Caris; special friends, Gene &amp; Sheryl Railsback and their daughters, Juli and Gina; Royal &amp; Kimber Mellinger and their children, Doralynn &amp; Nickolas; Renee Nilson and her children, Katherine (Jordan) Howard and Connor Nilson; and Brian &amp; Sheila Billings and their children, Anastasia and Xavier; numerous grandchildren; and the ContinuCare staff, Sandy Hopp Edwards, Sherri Horun, Cinda Sue Rogers, Tammi Walker, and Cici Alstatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan &amp; Jean O’Dell; wife, Jan O’Dell; and sister-in-law, Jaymie O’Dell.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Lyons Municipal Cemetery followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at First United Methodist Church, McPherson.&nbsp;

He completed the Eagle Scout Service project in July of 1965.&nbsp; He also earned an additional award above the Eagle rank, the Bronze Palm.&nbsp; He was also selected to be a member of Order of the Arrow, and within this organization, he was nominated and elected for the Vigil Honor.&nbsp; In adulthood, he continued to be active by being a Lifesaving Merit Badge counselor and assistant Scout leader for Webelos.On July 10, 2008, Danny was involved in a car wreck, losing mobility.&nbsp; Over the years, he has overcome many obstacles due to the wreck.&nbsp; In that same year, he lost his right eye due to cancer.Danny was a former member of McPherson Free Methodist Church and current member of First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Since 2015, he has volunteered at First United Methodist Church, making sure the building’s needs were met.&nbsp; For example, he would make sure the doors were locked.&nbsp; Since June 1, 2018, he was put in charge of all the building operations, becoming the Facilities Administrator.Danny is survived by his brother, David (Evy) O’Dell of McPherson, KS; children, Timothy (Heather) O’Dell of Minneapolis, MN, Will O’Dell of Topeka, KS, and Sheila O’Dell of Kansas City, KS; two nieces, Crystal Clobes and children, Acacia and Adie, and Rozalynn (Ken) Frey and children, Lilly, Cooper, Carter, and Caris; special friends, Gene &amp; Sheryl Railsback and their daughters, Juli and Gina; Royal &amp; Kimber Mellinger and their children, Doralynn &amp; Nickolas; Renee Nilson and her children, Katherine (Jordan) Howard and Connor Nilson; and Brian &amp; Sheila Billings and their children, Anastasia and Xavier; numerous grandchildren; and the ContinuCare staff, Sandy Hopp Edwards, Sherri Horun, Cinda Sue Rogers, Tammi Walker, and Cici Alstatt.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan &amp; Jean O’Dell; wife, Jan O’Dell; and sister-in-law, Jaymie O’Dell.A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Lyons Municipal Cemetery followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at First United Methodist Church, McPherson.&nbsp;Memorial donations can be made to Circles of McPherson County, First United Methodist Church (for scholarships for summer camp), or Boy Scouts of America Troop 117 in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.Personal condolences may be sent to the family at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stockhamfamily.com/" target="_blank">www.stockhamfamily.com</a>.

Donna Kilcoyne-Isaacson, age 79, passed away on October 4, 2023. She was born on January 19, 1944, in Lincoln, Kansas, to the late John Thomas (Jack) Kilcoyne and Grace Mae Cromwell.

Donna's life was characterized by devotion to her family, her love for animals, and her dedication to her work. Her biggest priority and love in life was her family. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Kansas. She married John Isaacson in Lincoln, Kansas, on June 1, 1963. Several years later, Donna married Perry West on July 15, 1995.

Donna earned her license in cosmetology in Manhattan, Kansas. She worked as a hairdresser for several years. When her daughters, Lisa and Kimberly, were born, Donna shifted her focus to being a full-time wife and mom, providing a loving and nurturing home for her family.

Donna later worked as an administrative assistant at Marymount College in Salina, Kansas. Donna then transitioned to a position as a teacher's assistant at Lincoln High School, providing support and encouragement to all her students.

Donna attended Bel Air Baptist church and later Trinity United Methodist Church, both in Salina, Kansas.

Donna's life was a testament to her quiet strength and love for others. She leaves a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire those who truly knew her.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Gwin and husband Jon of Salina, Kansas, and Lisa Green and husband Kent of Lucas, Texas. John and Donna have 9 grandchildren… Spencer Gwin and wife Jane of Lawrence, Kansas; Rhett Enriquez-Gwin of Kansas City; Jordan Green of Denton, Texas; Seth Gwin of Lawrence, Kansas; Sierra Gwin and fiancé Garrett House of Hays, Kansas; Ryan Green of Dallas, Texas; Rachel Lawler and husband Aidan of Boston Massachusetts; John Green of Carrolton Texas, and Rebekah Green of Plano Texas. Lee H. Gale, age 71, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born in Concordia, Kansas on June 17, 1952, to Dr. Mark Ernest and Jane (Boyd) Gale.

Lee graduated from Concordia High School in 1970.&nbsp; He then went on to graduate from Kansas State University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

He married Terri Williams on January 3, 1976, in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union two daughters were born Nicki and Nanci.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lee and Terri were united in marriage for 40 years.

Lee was an operational manager for several retail department stores.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 1993 he received his master’s degree in divinity from North America Baptist Seminary.&nbsp;&nbsp;After receiving his master’s in divinity, he served several congregations as a Methodist Pastor in the Dakota Conference.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lee’s motor coach service started for Ottertail Minn-Dakota Coaches.&nbsp;&nbsp;He later was a bus driver for Village Travel out of Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;His last and proudest bus driving position was for the Cloud County Community College Athletic Department.

He married his Concordia high school classmate Marla Joy Jorgensen on Aug. 12, 2017.

Lee was an avid Kansas State University, and Chiefs fan taking in all their games.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most of all he truly enjoyed his Cloud County (Dirty Birds) sporting events.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lee was a connoisseur of coffee and would welcome anyone for a cup and visit.

Lee is survived by his two daughters, Nicki Gale-Youngberg (Christopher), Fergus Falls, MN; Nanci Wilson (Mark), Minto, ND; Their mother, Terri Shugrue (Tim), Callahan, FL; his two grandsons, Cooper Wilson, and Weston Youngberg; two nephews, Rich Smith, Topeka, KS; Rob Smith (Janelle), Henderson, TX; a niece, Pam Clark (Brad), Meriden, KS.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Mark and Jane Gale, wife, Marla Joy Jorgensen, sister, Nancy Smith (who died two days before him), brother-in-law, Richard Smith and great niece, Lydia Clark.

Lee H. Gale

Faith Catherine Brayton, 29, of Glasco, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1994, at home in rural Minneapolis to James and Penny Peters.

She met her future husband, Grady, in the third grade and they later became high school sweethearts. They married on January 19, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas.

Faith worked at the locker plant, and for a vet supply company before she started the job she loved most as a stay at home mom to her son Monty when he was born on February 18, 2021.

She cared for goats, chickens, had a garden, and loved creating things for her home. Her love of goats started when she and her sisters were gifted goats as small children. She turned it into a business, selling goat’s milk and making goat cheese. Faith could get animals to do things that most people couldn’t. She had a knack for catching bullfrogs and wild kittens.&nbsp;&nbsp;She wasn’t scared of anything, and it was a regular sight to see her come out of the chicken coop with a snake casually wrapped around her arm. She was routinely given animals that others did not know how to care for.

Faith had a heart of gold that was seen by the people around her and the animals she cared for. She was tough as nails. She was stepped on by a cow at the age of 2 and broke her neck falling from a buggy at age 17. She fought a hard but short battle after a Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer diagnosis on September 13, 2023.

Faith’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Grady Brayton; her son, Monty Brayton; her parents James (Donna) Peters, and Penny (Chris) Bell; her siblings, Aaron (Buffy) Peters, Brian (Ashton) Peters, Emily (Brian) Koster, Dewayne (Lauren) Hartzell, Cory (Torey) Peters, and Grace Peters; her many adored nieces and nephews, and numerous other family and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Carrie Brayton, and her grandparents.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Glasco High School in Glasco, Kansas at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Burial will follow at Glasco City Cemetery, Glasco, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service on October 21, 2023.

Dallas L. White passed away on October 10, 2023, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at age 86. He was born on October 29, 1936, in Salina, Kansas to John and Rosa (Muchow) White. He graduated from Culver High School with the Class of 1955. He started his working career with John Deere on May 16, 1955. His job lasted 28.5 years. Dallas learned a lot of his mechanic knowledge from his dad, John. As a kid he was always fixing or building something. He then opened J.D. Repair and sold it in 1996. He and Joan also sold Cub Cadet mowers at J.D. Repair. Dallas and Betty Joan Whisler met at the Jolly Mixers dance and married in Las Vegas August 17, 1991.

Dallas was preceded in death by parents, John and Rosa, and brothers Clyde and Dean. He is survived by his wife Joan; son Mike and his wife Terri; Stepdaughter Cris; Stepson Scott; Granddaughter Jamie; and two great grandkids Brayden and Trinady and a great-great- granddaughter Liberty. With his marriage to Joan, he was blessed with three stepchildren Brad, Dan, and Shelly, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They called him Grandpa Dallas. He was also survived by his brother Malcolm.

A celebration on Life will be held Friday October 20, 2023, at 10 am at Ryan Mortuary.

Michael Wayne Larson, 58, of Salina, KS, died on October 12, 2023. He was born on August 20, 1965, in Salina to Harold and Royanne (Young) Larson.

Michael loved traveling with his wife, Amy, taking trips on his motorcycle, and sharing his love of cars, motorcycles, and boats with his family.

Michael is survived by his wife, Amy Larson; daughter, Emma Larson-Bradley; mother, Royanne Larson; four sisters, Shelly Dye (Bill) of Montgomery, TX, Julie Claybaugh of Salina, KS, Cindy Boucek (Rich) of Ada, KS, and Dawn Hilty of Dallas, TX; and his 16 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews. Michael Wayne Larson

Leslie Leon Hemphill, fondly known as Les, aged 75, passed away in Concordia, Kansas on October 12, 2023. Born at home on December 29, 1947, to parents Alice Shaw Hemphill and Harrison Walter Hemphill in Chelsea, Oklahoma, Les embarked on a remarkable journey. 

He graduated from Claremore High School in 1966 and continued his educational pursuit at the University of Tulsa, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology in 1970. His passion for psychology led him to further achievements, culminating in a Master's Degree in Counseling/Psychology from the University of Kansas and a PhD in Counseling from Kansas State University.

In 1967, Les married Penelope Gabbard and to this union was born Melina C. Hemphill. They later divorced. In 1989, Les married Christy Hasch and to this union was born Sarah R. Hasch, Emily M. Hasch, and Rachel N. Hasch.

Les's professional path was diverse, beginning as a medic in Germany with the United States Army and concluding with a rich career as a psychologist, counselor, probation officer, and educator in Psychology. His service extended to roles such as Director of Advisement and Counseling at Cloud County Community College and Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Psychology Programs at the University of Saint Mary until his retirement in 2015.

Les served his community in multiple leadership roles. He served as negotiator on behalf of the Teacher’s Association at Cloud County Community College, wrote the grant that funded the Infant / Toddler Program in the North Central Kansas area, and acted as a trustee for the First United Methodist Church in Concordia. In 2013, Les was recognized by the National Academic Advising Association for his work as Chair of the Advising Graduate and Professional Students Commission.

Beyond his professional life, Les had a zest for photography, motorcycle rides, Spaghetti Westerns, Sci-fi movies, reading, extensive camping adventures, traveling, and, of course, the creation of "dad jokes." He claimed to know how to “perfectly fold a fitted sheet” but was never known to do the laundry at home. Sadly, he was unable to actualize his full musical potential as he was never able receive lessons on the autoharp despite advertising in the local newspaper. Les, an enthusiast of Aikido, proudly held a black belt in the martial art and delighted in culinary experiments, particularly his specialty, "wild pig" (spam), and the occasional grilled cucumber. Les fully enjoyed being a father to his four daughters, and was quick to correct strangers who mistook him for his daughters’ grandfather.

Les is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sarah. He is survived by his devoted wife, Christy, his brothers Randy Hemphill of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Donald Hemphill of Texas, as well as his cherished daughters, Melina, Emily, and Rachel, and his adored grandson, Gavin Massell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 1-8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 PM at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. 6th&nbsp;Street, Concordia, KS 66901.

Services to celebrate Les's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Concordia on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Mark Crist officiating.

Born at home on December 29, 1947, to parents Alice Shaw Hemphill and Harrison Walter Hemphill in Chelsea, Oklahoma, Les embarked on a remarkable journey. He graduated from Claremore High School in 1966 and continued his educational pursuit at the University of Tulsa, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology in 1970. Leslie Leon Hemphill

Elvin Dale Boss, 75, of Minneapolis passed away on October 10, 2023, at Salina Regional Health Center with his children by his side. He was born on March 6, 1948, in Quinter, to Dale and Mary (Sword) Boss.

Elvin had an amazing gift of wit and humor, as well the gift of friendship that was shared by many that knew him. He graduated from Gove Rural High School in 1966, then attended Brown Mackie College in Salina. He worked for and retired from Exline, Inc. in Salina after 40 dedicated years.

Elvin loved music and sang with the Salina Barbershop Chorus for many years, as well as in the church choir at Bennington United Methodist Church, in which he was a member. He was a member of the Bennington Lions Club for many years, served as a volunteer EMT for Bennington and served on the Bennington City Council. He most recently was a member of the Minneapolis Evening Lions Club and got together regularly for morning coffee with his friends.

Elvin married Janet Condray in 1972 and later divorced. He then married Cherryl Adams-Boss in 2004, who preceded him in death in 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his children, Eric Boss (Melissa) of Ellis, Genny Hall (Kevin) of Gypsum, and Carri Boss-Barry (Troy) of Bennington; step-children Jason Adams and Amy Levendofsky; sister Ardis Bareis (Bill); grandchildren, Emma and Eryn Boss, Emalie and Karson Hall, and Bailey, Nolan and Nora Barry; step-grandchildren, Meagan, Priscilla, Chloe, Ayden, Isaac, Cassandra; and the late Jose Esparza.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 15&nbsp;from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. A graveside service will be at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis on Monday, October 16 at 11:00 A.M.

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Marlin L. Ames, 99, of Salina, KS, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 6, 2023 – just two months shy of his 100th birthday.

Born on December 4, 1923, Marlin was the youngest of three children born to Ernest and Anna (nee Gebhard) Ames in Long Island, KS. From a young age, Marlin was a quick learner and valued education. His older sister, Dorothy, enjoyed playing school, where she had him so prepared that young Marlin skipped two grades, graduating from Long Island High School at the age of 16. Marlin worked several jobs before joining the Army Air Corps, where he was stationed in Italy during World War II. Upon fulfilling his military duties, Marlin enrolled at Kansas State Agricultural College (Kansas State University) to study electrical engineering. That is where he met the love of his life, Velma Paige. The two were married in 1948, and to this union, three children were born: Alan, Marla, and Kendi.

Marlin joined the US Postal Service in 1949 and served as Postmaster in Long Island, KS, then Downs, KS, until 1983. Following his retirement from the postal service, Marlin began a second career at Hartford Insurance, where he worked for the next 20 years. Never known to be idle, Marlin spent much of his leisure time woodworking, fishing, camping, and cheering on the ‘Cats. Marlin and Velma moved to Salina in 1988 and relocated from their home on Louise Lane to Eaglecrest Senior Living facility in 2016.

Marlin is survived by his wife of 75 years, Velma, of Salina; son Alan (Katy) Ames, Manhattan; and daughters Marla (Ken) Kuiper and Kendi (Brian) Carlgren, Salina; grandchildren Eric (Amy) Ames; Aron Ames; Malani Kuiper (Matthew Carey); Kaili Kuiper (Tom Fisher); Kim (Eli) Fort; Madison Carlgren; and Makenzi (Trey) Cullins; honorary grandson, Chris Senn; and six great-grandchildren. Marlan Carroll Comfort, 82, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 11th, 2023.

Marlan was born in Miltonvale, Kansas on October 15, 1940, a son of Florence Elizabeth (Simpson) and Carroll Dale Comfort.

He retired from the City of Miltonvale as the City Superintendent where he worked to support his farming habit. Farming and driving John Deere Tractors was the joy of his life.

On August 22, 2008, Marlan married Glendah Huff in Independence, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Glendah, of the home; and two daughters, Marla Hurst (Todd), of Salina, Kansas, and Cheryl Brewer (Matthew), of Independence, Kansas.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kinneth (Josie), Zane (Rachel), Tyrel (Denae), Victoria (Elijah), Rusty (Dafne), Cory (Blanca), Molly, Zane (Megan), Zeke (Charity), Chase; 10 great grandchildren. Through his second marriage, he gained, 2 daughters, Robin Capps (Blake), of Hobe Sound, Florida, Rhoda Line (Bryan), of Kokomo, Indiana; sons, Randy Huff (Jane), of North Pole, Alaska, Rick Huff (Mary Ellen) of Hobe Sound, Florida, Robb Huff (Robyn), of Hobe Sound, Florida, Ron Huff, of Lawrence, Kansas; 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Lee Buehrle, 93, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Salina, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.&nbsp; She worked as a secretary at Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Atwood and was an office manager for Marietta, Kellogg &amp; Price Law Office in Salina.

Lee was born on April 24, 1930, in Atwood, KS, the daughter of Herman Mark and Charlotte V. (Shaffer) Rummel.&nbsp; She graduated from Atwood High School in 1948 and attended Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; On July 31, 1948, Lee was united in marriage to John G. Buehrle in Ellsworth, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children, Karen and John, II.&nbsp; Lee and John were married for 53 years prior to his passing on May 24, 2002.&nbsp;

Lee bowled in a competitive league in Atwood and was a member of the TOPS Club and KOPS Club in Salina.

Survivors include: two children, Karen Parsons (Daryl) of Burden, KS and John Buehrle, II (DeeAnn) of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren, Gail Bailey (Bryan), Scott Parsons (Lyndsay), Laura Stapleton, Sarah Buehrle Gunay (Ziya Gunay), and John Buehrle, III (Justine); nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

Lee Buehrle

Steven (Skip) Von Strohe, 92, passed away peacefully with family present at his home in Marquette, KS the morning of October 9, 2023. 

Steven was born on March 20, 1931, in Salina, KS, the first son of Louis (Bud) Von Strohe and Twila (Steel) Von Strohe. Steven’s younger brother, Jerry Stuart Von Strohe, was born in July of 1933 and died two years later in July of 1935 from pertussis. Shortly after his younger brother’s death, the family moved from Westfall, Kansas to Boulder, Colorado. Steven grew up in Boulder, Colorado, graduating from high school there. Steven then received a ROTC scholarship that he used at Colorado State University to become the first Von Strohe in the family to attend a university and then graduate from CSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. The scholarship had a requirement that Steven would serve in a military branch of service for at least 4 years after his schooling was done. Steven chose the Air Force and was to report for pilot training in Albany, Georgia. In his senior year at CSU, Steven met a pretty brunette freshman from Denver, Colorado, Bettie Lu Stills.&nbsp; They fell madly in love, and with Steven headed for the Air Force, they decided to elope on short notice and got married in Raton, New Mexico on March 25, 1954.

Steven reported for duty at Turner Air Force Base as a fully commissioned Lieutenant due to his college training with the ROTC and began his pilot training. He quickly moved from the prop trainer to jets and the T 33. As he was rapidly moving thru flight school, he was approached with an offer to fly bombers. With his shorter stature, he physically met the requirements for the bomber cockpit. He initially said no, but when he found out the bomber he would be training with and flying was the then top-secret Boeing B-47 Stratojet, he jumped at the chance. During the Georgia training, Steven’s first son, Scott, was born in Albany. The training with the bomber moved the family to Roswell, New Mexico where his second son, Steven, was born.&nbsp; Steven moved from training to active duty in Roswell with his mission flying the B-47 bomber fully armed with a nuclear warhead in a holding pattern orbiting above the north pole area. His mission focus was to deliver the payload to the city known as Leningrad at the time. His 3 man crew flew 12 hour shifts always at the ready if the fateful call should come. Steven’s 4 years of service ended in 1958, and despite very generous offers from the Air Force, Skip (His nickname he got as the bomber pilot and commanding officer in the B-47) chose to return to civilian life and return to Denver, Colorado where his third son, Stanton, was born in 1958 and his fourth son, Spence, in 1961. Steven and Bettie moved to Dallas, Texas in 1979 after all the boys had finished high school.

Steven started a Medical Product Sales company in Dallas and when he retired at 65, he passed the business on to his sons. Bettie and Skip relocated to Hide Away, Texas and spent the early retirement years crossing the country in an RV with Hide Away as their base of operations. In 2004, Skip suffered a stroke and the focus moved for Bettie as she became his primary caregiver. Once Skip had rehabbed to the point where he was mobile again, they downsized the RV and with Bettie driving, resumed a limited travel schedule. After almost 57 years of marriage in February 2011, Bettie passed away after a yearlong bout with cancer, and Steven had lost the love of his life.&nbsp; The boys sold the family company, and Stan moved to the old family stomping grounds in Kansas, settling in Marquette, where he bought a house for Dad to spend his final years. Well known around Marquette, Skip could be seen driving his scooter thru the streets and visiting with folks at the Smoky Valley Distillery. Until the end, Skip was loved by all. Known for his love of teaching in his early years and his prolific painting in his later years, Skip established a legacy that will carry far beyond his passing.

Steven (Skip) Von Strohe is survived by his 4 sons Scott, Steve, Stan, and Spence along with their families which include 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Skip was a blessing to us all, and we will always strive to follow his favorite saying “Let’s go to Mexico Dumbo!”

A “Celebration of Life” memorial is in the process of being planned for the Spring of 2024. With this celebration, we will unite Bettie and Skip once again in their final resting place at the Franklin Cemetery in Tescott, Kansas. More information on the specifics of this event will be provided online at a later date.

 </figure>Steven (Skip) Von Strohe, 92, passed away peacefully with family present at his home in Marquette, KS the morning of October 9, 2023. Steven was born on March 20, 1931, in Salina, KS, the first son of Louis (Bud) Von Strohe and Twila (Steel) Von Strohe. Steven’s younger brother, Jerry Stuart Von Strohe, was born in July of 1933 and died two years later in July of 1935 from pertussis. Shortly after his younger brother’s death, the family moved from Westfall, Kansas to Boulder, Colorado. Steven grew up in Boulder, Colorado, graduating from high school there. Steven then received a ROTC scholarship that he used at Colorado State University to become the first Von Strohe in the family to attend a university and then graduate from CSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. The scholarship had a requirement that Steven would serve in a military branch of service for at least 4 years after his schooling was done. Steven chose the Air Force and was to report for pilot training in Albany, Georgia. In his senior year at CSU, Steven met a pretty brunette freshman from Denver, Colorado, Bettie Lu Stills.&nbsp; They fell madly in love, and with Steven headed for the Air Force, they decided to elope on short notice and got married in Raton, New Mexico on March 25, 1954.Steven reported for duty at Turner Air Force Base as a fully commissioned Lieutenant due to his college training with the ROTC and began his pilot training. He quickly moved from the prop trainer to jets and the T 33. As he was rapidly moving thru flight school, he was approached with an offer to fly bombers. With his shorter stature, he physically met the requirements for the bomber cockpit. He initially said no, but when he found out the bomber he would be training with and flying was the then top-secret Boeing B-47 Stratojet, he jumped at the chance. During the Georgia training, Steven’s first son, Scott, was born in Albany. The training with the bomber moved the family to Roswell, New Mexico where his second son, Steven, was born.&nbsp; Steven moved from training to active duty in Roswell with his mission flying the B-47 bomber fully armed with a nuclear warhead in a holding pattern orbiting above the north pole area. His mission focus was to deliver the payload to the city known as Leningrad at the time. His 3 man crew flew 12 hour shifts always at the ready if the fateful call should come. Steven (Skip) Von Strohe

Geneva Mae Turnquist, 94, of Lindsborg, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, surrounded by family at Brookdale Senior Assisted Living, Salina.&nbsp; Geneva was a homemaker, partner in the family farming operation, census worker, and election worker.

Geneva was born on July 15, 1929, on the family farm in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Bernard G. and Clara S. (Nelson) Schafer.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School.&nbsp; On October 2, 1948, Geneva was united in marriage to Donald Herman Turnquist in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Steve, Larry, Bryce, and Donna. Geneva and Don were married for 73 years before his passing on March 9, 2022.&nbsp;

She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lindsborg, UMW, and served on several committees.

Survivors include: four children, Steven (Michele) Turnquist of Austin, TX, Larry (Kathy) Turnquist of Salina, KS, Bryce (Patty) Turnquist of Lindsborg, KS, and Donna (Emery) Wiens of Topeka, KS; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Bernadine Swanson, and brother, Bernard Schafer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg.&nbsp; The final resting place will be in the Freemount Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Riley Dane Clark, 93, went peacefully to his eternal rest Thursday, October 5, 2023, at home with his wife and family by his side. He was born the youngest of 10 on May 21, 1930, in Lincoln, Kansas, to Alfred S. and Mabel Mae (Dane) Clark. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. After graduation, he found the love of his life, Betty D. Sandquist. Riley married Betty June 24, 1950, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. They were blessed with 73 years together while raising 17 children. His career led him to Santa Fe Truck line, Graves Truck line, Salina Scales, and other various businesses before retiring at the age of 75. Riley was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Cathedral. In addition to his dedication to his faith and family, Riley was a dedicated sports fan, especially Sacred Heart High School sports and his beloved Kansas City Royals.

Riley was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Jesse, Richard, and Harvey; sisters Marie Knox, Beth Cox, Rachael August, Lois Cooper, Thelma Sharnell, and Vera McConigly; daughters Rhonda Clark Cole and Annette Marie Clark; sons-in-law Mike Ziegler and Mark Cole; and grandsonsDane Hamilton and Trevor Rassette. He is survived by his wife and children, Pam Ziegler of Hutchinson; Fr. Darrol Steven “Steve” Cooksey, 85, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. &nbsp;He was born in Bogue, Kan., on December 8, 1937, to George and Alice (Teter) Cooksey.

Steve was united in marriage on May 23, 1959, to Karen Dunning in Bogue, Kan. He was a grain elevator manager in Bogue for 8 years and in Palco, Kan., for many years, before retiring as a purchasing agent for Classic Cable in Plainville, Kan. He was active in the Palco United Methodist Church serving as treasurer for many years and was secretary for Palco Lions Club for many years.&nbsp; After moving to Salina in 2002, he became active in the United Methodist Church of the Cross in Salina, helping with many community and funeral meals and serving as treasurer and teaching the “Been there, Done that” Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Karen; daughter, Merlene Talley of Solomon, KS; grandchildren, Mikayla Knipp of Salina, Mikeal Knipp of Andover, his wife Alicia and their children Kynleigh and Avery, Myron Knipp and his wife Donna of Salina, and their children Mia Hanson (Matt) and Destiny Hegedus; his brother, Martin Cooksey of Dillon, Montana, and several nephew and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon “Cork” Cooksey, and Alfred “Buddy” Cooksey; and sisters, Clyta Cooksey and Josephine Nelson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at United Methodist Church of the Cross, 1600 Rush St, Salina. Friends and Family are invited to “Cookies with Cooksey’s” following the service.&nbsp; Burial will be at a later date at Wildhorse Cemetery, Bogue, Kan.

Marilyn Merle Freemyer Riley Lindberg passed away October 5, 2023 at Dignity Care Home in Salina after an extended illness of many years. Services will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:30 am at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Later interment will be in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Wakeeney, Kansas.

Beloved, Marilyn Merle Freemyer was born November 11, 1931 to Robert “Bob” Monroe Freemyer and Nancy “Neen” Maria Pickens Freemyer in Sheridan County, Kansas at the home of Nancy’s sister Bea Neff. Her sister Roberta Pearl was six years older. Bob and Neen first leased Neen’s sister Laura’s farm on the highway north of Menlo, in Cherokee County, Kansas, but later purchased a farmstead south of Menlo, where they lived until their retirement. Marilyn attended the Menlo schools until her graduation in 1949. She converted to Catholicism as a teenager after being in a car accident and finding a rosary no one in the car claimed in her pocket afterward. Marilyn travelled extensively with her parents, hunting, fishing and antiquing and was adored by her sister’s older children who always called her Aunt Mardi.

Marilyn’s first job was in Hays, Kansas as a nurse’s aide at St Joseph’s Hospital operated by the Sisters of St Agnes. In the early 1950’s she moved to Colby and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company employed as a telephone operator. In 1954 she was engaged to Lauren Eugene “Gene” Riley, a parts salesman employed by S&amp;W Supply Co. They married April 15, 1955 in Seguin, Kansas at the Parish House followed by a wedding brunch, and a honeymoon in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

Making their home in Colby in 1956 they welcomed their first child, Nancy and the next year purchased a home on Grant Street. In 1958 their son Kevin was born and another son David followed in 1959. Two more children were born with the addition of Lisa in 1964 and Clay in 1970. The family enjoyed family vacations camping and visiting with relatives. Sunday dinners were a special time to gather (no fighting allowed!) and share a meal with the grandparents and her children, but Marilyn especially loved Christmas and large family gatherings. Her grandson Ian referred to her as a child as “two table grandma” and her grandson Jehd is now famous for his “chicken nugget” fable recounted at a family meal. She was a Scout mom, a neighborhood mom, a wrestling and football mom, a swim team mom and a theater mom to all her children and their friends, neighbors and school mates. Her house was open to all and she welcomed them all to her table.

In the 1970’s Marilyn was promoted to Management and eventually transferred to Topeka, Kansas with AT&amp;T, residing in Silver Lake, Kansas. Gene and Marilyn divorced in 1981 and Marilyn then transferred to Salina, Kansas purchasing a home on Front Street with a pool for her family of swim fanatics. In 1990 she married Marvin Lindberg and retired from AT&amp;T that same year. She enjoyed traveling and auctions and operated antique booths in Salina and Abilene. She liked organizing family picnics in the park or even in her back yard. She enjoyed spoiling her children and grand children and Christmas was a joyous time for all, as she insured that Santa Claus always stopped by on Christmas Eve to pass out gifts. No one could say Santa’s not real in her house--not ever!

Her five children and their children are: Nancy (Robert Golden; children Ian and Sara), Kevin (Kay Sherman; children Kimmy, Levi, Ashley and Ceara), David (Ronda Jefferson, son Jedediah; Lisa Debord; sons Darcy and Cory; Jennifer Mikkelson; son Jake); Lisa (Jay Penry, son Jamie) and Clay. From her five children Marilyn had 11 grand children and currently has 27 great grandchildren, all of whom she especially loved to spoil and play with-coloring, playing paper dolls, building with Legos and playing various games to entertain them. Marilyn also loved music and dancing, rocking her babies and singing to them.

Her husband, Mr. Lindberg survives, as well as her children and extended family including many nieces and nephews, as her sister Roberta had 12 children! She was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband Gene, her sister Roberta Schlageck and her husband Bernard, as well as Roberta’s children Marilyn and Bernard Jr, and sadly very recently her especially beloved grandson Cory Riley.Memorial service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, October 18 at Ryan Mortuary. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow at 2:30 pm at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney.

They married April 15, 1955 in Seguin, Kansas at the Parish House followed by a wedding brunch, and a honeymoon in Beaver Creek, Colorado.Making their home in Colby in 1956 they welcomed their first child, Nancy and the next year purchased a home on Grant Street. In 1958 their son Kevin was born and another son David followed in 1959. Two more children were born with the addition of Lisa in 1964 and Clay in 1970. The family enjoyed family vacations camping and visiting with relatives. Sunday dinners were a special time to gather (no fighting allowed!) and share a meal with the grandparents and her children, but Marilyn especially loved Christmas and large family gatherings. Her grandson Ian referred to her as a child as “two table grandma” and her grandson Jehd is now famous for his “chicken nugget” fable recounted at a family meal. She was a Scout mom, a neighborhood mom, a wrestling and football mom, a swim team mom and a theater mom to all her children and their friends, neighbors and school mates. Her house was open to all and she welcomed them all to her table.In the 1970’s Marilyn was promoted to Management and eventually transferred to Topeka, Kansas with AT&amp;T, residing in Silver Lake, Kansas. Gene and Marilyn divorced in 1981 and Marilyn then transferred to Salina, Kansas purchasing a home on Front Street with a pool for her family of swim fanatics. In 1990 she married Marvin Lindberg and retired from AT&amp;T that same year. She enjoyed traveling and auctions and operated antique booths in Salina and Abilene. She liked organizing family picnics in the park or even in her back yard. She enjoyed spoiling her children and grand children and Christmas was a joyous time for all, as she insured that Santa Claus always stopped by on Christmas Eve to pass out gifts. No one could say Santa’s not real in her house--not ever!Her five children and their children are: Nancy (Robert Golden; children Ian and Sara), Kevin (Kay Sherman; children Kimmy, Levi, Ashley and Ceara), David (Ronda Jefferson, son Jedediah; Lisa Debord; sons Darcy and Cory; Jennifer Mikkelson; son Jake); Lisa (Jay Penry, son Jamie) and Clay. From her five children Marilyn had 11 grand children and currently has 27 great grandchildren, all of whom she especially loved to spoil and play with-coloring, playing paper dolls, building with Legos and playing various games to entertain them. Marilyn also loved music and dancing, rocking her babies and singing to them.Her husband, Mr. Lindberg survives, as well as her children and extended family including many nieces and nephews, as her sister Roberta had 12 children! She was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband Gene, her sister Roberta Schlageck and her husband Bernard, as well as Roberta’s children Marilyn and Bernard Jr, and sadly very recently her especially beloved grandson Cory Riley.Memorial service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, October 18 at Ryan Mortuary. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow at 2:30 pm at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney.Memorials may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center, St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Genesis Food Bank, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.
