Joedy L. Pruett
April 23, 1963 ~ December 13, 2023
Joedy Lee Pruett (Zimmerman) of Mentor, Kansas passed away at Salina Regional Health Center on Wednesday December 13th, 2023 at age 60 from the complications of cancer. She was born on April 23rd, 1963 in Salina, Kansas at the same hospital.
She is survived by her loving husband Mike, daughter Faith and step daughter Hope Pruett. She is also survived by her parents Dennis & Jeannie Zimmerman Sr. and Joyce Zimmerman (Doerr). Her brother Dennis Zimmerman (Christina) Jr and his family and her sister Jill Zimmerman
and her family as well as step-sisters Tina (Scott) Heald and her family and Kathy Boyd (Glenn).
Joedy graduated from Salina South High School in 1981. She was very active in sports, especially basketball. She went on to achieve a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education in 1986 at Kansas Wesleyan University. During her 4 year college career Joedy's basketball accomplishments were unparalleled. She lead her team with wins and the most points scored year after year. This resulted in a record for the most points scored in a 4 year career. Joedy Zimmerman held this record for 37 years and is still recognized on the "Wall of Fame" at KWU "Coyote" sports arena.
Following college Joedy lived in Colorado where she continued to enjoy sports, playing in city league with friends. She played volleyball and softball in Fort Collins and then later in Colorado Springs where in the spring of 2000 Joedy met Mike Pruett. They quickly found out they were
meant for each other. Mike and Joedy were both looking for a lifelong friendship and marriage. They shared a mutual interest in sports, music and understanding the Bible as the Word of God. Mike and Joedy were married in September of 2000 and had the birth of their daughter Faith
Renae Pruett the following year.
In the Summer 2008 Mike, Joedy and Faith moved to Kansas where they have enjoyed being close to more family - aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmas, grandpas and great grandparents.
Joedy's desire, along with her family Mike, Hope and Faith, was that in lieu of flowers she would prefer that people would gather to celebrate her life and God's goodness through His Son Jesus Christ as expressed in the bible. She believes in everlasting life and any loss in this life is just temporary as the bible states.
John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” “God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through him.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mentor Methodist Church, in Mentor, Kansas on Saturday, January 13th, at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Jim Melton of Faithful Stewards Bible Ministry officiating. Following the service will be a potluck lunch and taco bar in the Fellowship Hall. Joedy informed us she would like this to be a thankful time remembrance with family and friends, sharing uplifting stories.
