Gary D. Ashland, age 74, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Salina Regional Hospital, Salina, KS. &nbsp;He was born on June 10, 1949 in Concordia, KS to George S. &amp; Annette I. (Cote) Ashland

Gary was part of the Class of 1968 from Clyde High School since he joined the US Marine Corps on March 7, 1968 and served his country in Vietnam. &nbsp;Upon his return from the Marines, he married Katherine Y. Cossel on March 2, 1970 in Concordia.

Gary worked for Cloud Ceramics as a clay and drill supervisor. &nbsp;Gary was a member of The Baptist Church where he and Kathy served as youth sponsors for several years. &nbsp;Gary enjoyed being with his family and doing anything that would help the youth. &nbsp;He helped for many years with Girl Scouts with Kathy and would always welcome anyone who needed help or to be part of a family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Kathy, Concordia; daughters, Jesse Morgan (Jesse), Terri Ashland, both of Concordia, Stacy Stanford (Lee), Salina &amp; Indigo Ashland, Concordia; sons, &nbsp;Tim Ashland, Marco Ashland (Loretta), all of Concordia; grandchildren, Jamie &amp; Haley Morgan, Tristin &amp; Amanda Morgan, Marissa Morgan, Luke Stanford &amp; Nichole &amp; Michael Ashland &amp; great grandchildren, Alex, Jason, Scarlett &amp; Rain Morgan &amp; Thea Morgan.

He was preceded by his parents, granddaughter, Victoria Ashland, brother, Alan Ashland and sister, Patricia Ashland.

The family selected cremation and Memorial services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Jim Autrey officiating. &nbsp;Burial of the cremains will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps, American Legion Post #76 &amp; VFW Post #588. &nbsp;Friends may sign the register book on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm all at the funeral home. &nbsp;The family suggests memorials to the Wound Warrior Project or the Cloud County Resource Center in care of the funeral home. &nbsp;For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.

Lennie Blixt January 11, 1949 ~ February 9, 2024

Lennie Blixt of Chapman passed away Friday February 9th, 2024 at Ascension Via Christi-Manhattan. Lennie was born January 11, 1949, in Arnold Nebraska, the son of Manfred and Ildie (Wheeler) Blixt.

On February 16, 1979, Lennie married Carole Empson in Abilene, Kansas. They made their home in the Chapman community. Lennie graduated from Arnold High School in 1967 and he then joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After his time in the Army Lennie worked at Blixt Construction with his brothers and sister. Later in life Lennie was a civil service plumber at Ft. Riley before his retirement. Lennie was a member of the Chapman American Legion post.

Lennie is survived by his wife Carole of the home, his daughter Jennifer Wadeson and her husband Scott of Junction City, Kansas, his granddaughters Shelbi Mathis of San Diego, California and Kylie Merritt of Tucson, Arizona and his brothers Lyle (Janie) and LeRoy (Tina) Blixt of Chapman and his sister Lydia Blixt of Emporia, KS.

Lennie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry and Leon Blixt, sister Lila Kitch and his daughter Georgi Blixt.

A memorial service will be held on March 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 206 W. 5th Chapman, with Pastor Stan Norman. The family suggests memorials be made to the Chapman American Legion and may be sent in care of the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel PO Box 411 Chapman, KS 67431.

Dale Louis Yordy, 84, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, February 13th, 2024.

Dale was born in Salina, Kansas on February 5, 1940, a son of Dorothy (Tucker) and Daniel Edward Yordy.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Salina.

On October 1, 1961, Dale married Martha Collins in Salina.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Yordy; four daughters, Debbie Lorenson (Bryan), Dannette Funk (Doug), Dorothy Hamerman, Dora Wiggins (James), all of Salina, Kansas.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild on the way.

Visitation will be held 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Friday, February 16th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina.

Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am, at the funeral home, with Pastor Greg Savage officiating.

Burial will be at Gypsum Hill Cemetery Salina, Kansas.

Mark Abordo Queddeng, 70, of Ottawa, KS died Friday, February 2, 2024 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.

He was born December 10, 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of Jose and Betty Queddeng.&nbsp; He graduated from Kalalau High School with the class of 1971.&nbsp;

On December 19, 1994, Mark was united in marriage to Angela Teague in Fort Smith, AR.&nbsp; They shared twenty-nine years of loving marriage.

Mark worked as a car detailer, which he thoroughly enjoyed.&nbsp; He loved hot rod cars.

Mark enjoyed going on semi rides with his best friend, Pastor Bell.&nbsp; He loved God and was in love with the Hawaiian culture, such as surfing.&nbsp; He never passed by a single person without making a joke.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Betty Queddeng; and 2 brothers, Kenneth (Blackie) Abordo and Eddie Abordo.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Queddeng; a daughter, Cassie O Keefe; a son, Christopher Teague; a brother, Jose Queddeng and his wife, Lana; 2 sisters, Tillie Apo and Joann Hopps and her husband, Jeff; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Teague and his wife, Terri; a granddaughter, Emma (Sweetie) Pacheco; and many nieces and nephews.

Rex Steven Hanson, age 74, Jamestown, KS resident, passed away February 7, 2024 at the North Central Kansas Medical Center, Concordia, KS. He was born on July 17, 1949 to Rex G. Hanson and Patricia M. Henry.

He went by Steve. He did many years helping with custom combining, roofing, and welding. He loved to fish and had many fishing buddies.

Steve is survived by his children; Heather Parsons of Salina, KS, and Hollie Cordes of Kenesaw, NE. He is also survived by three siblings; Marty (Cindy) Hanson of Elgin, TX, Patty Workman of Concordia, KS, and Ruth (Rick) Wegner of Mulberry, KS, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be Tuesday February 13, 2024 at 11:00am at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS with Pastor Randy Whitley Officiating.

Brenda S. Rodarmel-Olsen September 11, 1963 ~ February 2, 2024

Brenda S. Rodarmel-Olsen, was born in Hanford, California on September 11, 1963 and passed peacefully with her loving husband, Scott Olsen by her side in Concordia, Kansas on February 2, 2024.

She attended Mary Immaculate Queen School, Lemoore High School and West Hill College in Lemoore, California. Brenda worked at Sprouse–Reitz through high school. After high school, she began working at Del Monte Foods, then later at Cargill Animal Nutrition in Hanford. Brenda loved working for Empire Equipment, a John Deere dealer, where she learned the uses of the different equipment, met farmers and contractors, and listened to their stories. Starting when Brenda was in high school, her biggest joy was being a Coach for Special Olympics, these athletes were her kids. In later years, though her health got in the way of her coaching, she never lost her desire to support Special Olympic athletes.

&nbsp;She had a loving soul that wanted everyone to be happy and get along. Brenda would pass a stranger on the street and pay them random compliments such as: “I love your jacket!” She adored her family, and after losing her sister, she took on the empty spot Patty left with her daughter Heather.

Life moved Brenda to Clyde, Kansas where she met her true love and spent the happiest six years of her life with her husband, Scott. She often said “Wow, now I know what it is like to be treated like a lady.” Brenda loved Kansas; she enjoyed helping Scott with his cow-calf operation. While helping with the day-to-day on the farm with Scott, she developed a preference for the red Angus breed above all others. Brenda often said she wished she had her horse Breezie with her in Kansas.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Ray &amp; Mary Rodarmel, her sister Patty Costner, brother-in-law Steve Coelho and her grandparents. Survived by her husband Scott, her brothers Willard (Barbara), Mike (Sharon), sisters Margaret Coelho, Linda Schrack (Jim), nephews &amp; nieces James Rodarmel, Paul Rodarmel, Stevie Coelho, Nichole Wagner, Jamie Roberts, Jerry Costner, Josh Costner, Heather Muela, Laura Rodarmel (her God daughter), Lisa Rodarmel, nineteen greats &amp; five great-great nephews &amp; nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Lemoore, California.

Luther Miles Griffin was born May 19, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Sarah Johnson Griffin. He passed away at his home at the age of 71 in Abilene, Kansas on February 7, 2024.

Luther worked as a butcher and baker before serving his country in the United States Army for 15 years attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Community Bible Church and enjoyed building and racing RC cars and doing crossword puzzles.

On April 27, 1974 he was united in marriage to Teresa McCook in Kansas City, Missouri. Teresa survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Brandi Marie Cross (Reggie) of El Dorado, Arkansas, Kimberli Anne Hoette (Chris) of St. Peters, Missouri, brothers Randy Griffin, Leslie Griffin of Kansas City, Missouri, three grandchildren Devin Triplet, Joshua Cross, Jonathan Hoette, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Phyllis J. Garrett August 18, 1926 ~ February 10, 2024

Phyllis J. Garrett arrived in Woodbine, Kansas, at 1:30 a.m. August 18,1926, and went to her heavenly home on February 10, 2024, at the age of 97. She is survived by her brothers Willis (Dorothy) Garrett and Rowe (Margaret) Garrett as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children. Her parents, Ray, and Olive (Oesterreich) Garrett had one daughter and four sons: Vern, Reed, Willis, and Rowe. Phyllis survived living with four brothers, but I would bet she could tell us many stories of how that went down! Perhaps it made her strong because her life tells us just how strong she became. Phyllis’s first enjoyable past time was to lie in her buggy and watch the windmill circle. Her life continued to follow a pattern of circles as she became involved in numerous organizations and positively impacting the lives of others. Many of those circles were in the educational field. The first school Phyllis attended was Walnut Grove which was a one-room school west of Woodbine where Phyllis walked over a mile. Then the Garrett family moved to Herington where she attended grade school. The Garretts moved to different homes in Herington, and perhaps those frequent moves led to Phyllis becoming a mover and a shaker later in life. Then once again the family moved back to Woodbine where Phyllis attended high school. Phyllis graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg in 1948 with a degree in music education. While she was there, she walked across town to the Methodist Church. Phyllis’s education continued at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee, Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, and last, but not least, St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO. Other short-term circles included a couple of summer jobs when college was not in session. Phyllis was a file clerk at the Herington Air Force Base Office writing vouchers. Her other job was at Maridahl Children’s Home where she was head cook for 60 children. She was the only cook, but some of the children helped. She also had the responsibility of a four-year-old boy. Later Phyllis was a waitress in the coffee shop at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, a church camp counselor, chair of the Chippewa Development committee, and a member of the Kansas East Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. The small-town girl from Woodbine spread her wings as her circles increased. Phyllis became a music teacher in Sawyer, Kansas, where she taught for two years. While there she introduced her brother Reed to a co-worker, Marge Bridgeman, who later became her sister-in-law. This was an example of her positive impact and influence on the lives of others. Phyllis’s circle continued as she took deaconess training at Scarritt College in Nashville, TN, which is similar to the Roman Catholic sisterhood. She taught at Vashti Grade and High School in Thomasville, GA, which was a school for girls from broken homes. She was also the assistant house mother in the dorm that housed 48 junior high girls. She always had a special place in her heart for children. Phyllis became a chaplain at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS. There in the coffee shop she heard a voice saying, “Go to seminary,” so off she went! She graduated from St. Paul’s School of Theology in Kansas City. While there she worked at Valley View UMC, Overland Park, as Director of Education while enrolled at St. Paul’s. An important circle started in 1976 when Phyllis was appointed as pastor to the United Methodist Churches in Powhattan and Everest, Kansas. In 1980 she was appointed to the church in Eureka, Kansas, where she resided with her feline friends.

Snowball, Sammy Joe, and Sugarfoot. Although Phyllis stayed busy as a pastor to her churches, she believed in ministering to others. She met and took Brenda Pierce, a handicapped friend, under her wing and basically adopted her as a member of the Garrett family. She cared for Brenda for decades until the end of her life. Phyllis circled the globe during summer vacations on mission trips arranged by the United Methodist Church. She traveled far and wide to Brazil, twice to the Holy Land, Greece, Moscow, Rome, Madrid, London, and Hawaii. Phyllis started climbing the ladder. While doing so, she definitely learned what the expression “A woman in a man’s world” meant. She had to work for it, and she worked hard. She became District Superintendent in the Parsons, Kansas, district. There were 30 churches under her supervision. After that she pastored two churches at Neosho Rapids and Hartford near Emporia, Kansas. At one point in life Phyllis had planned to retire at the age of 70 and spend the next 20 years learning a new role in society. She was an overachiever and had already exceeded the age of 70 when she retired and moved back to Woodbine, Kansas, in 2003 and lived at the home place in the house that her father had built. In 2007 Phyllis received a call from Jean Manz from Grace UCC in Abilene saying they needed a pastor. Never one to turn down a challenge or opportunity, Phyllis came out of retirement and accepted the job. She remained there for fifteen years and retired from Grace United Church of Christ in 2022 at age 95. Phyllis achieved so many of her lifetime goals. She moved numerous times in her life. One day when speaking to a niece, she looked out her picture window, pointed across the highway, and stated that her wish was to remain in her home with her last move being across the highway to her final resting place. She almost achieved that goal, but shortly after Christmas her declining health required that she could no longer live independently. The following words were spoken by Pansy, a dear friend of Phyllis, at her retirement celebration in Abilene. As Paul said, “Fight the good fight and finish the race that is set before us.” Phyllis did that with remarkable courage. She completed 74 years of formal teaching and ministry. Phyllis said the ministry never stops for a Christian. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Mary Mae (Christensen) Hett June 19, 1924 — February 10, 2024

Mary Mae Christensen was born June 19, 1924 in Canada, KS and passed away on February 10, 2024

She was born to William and Rachel Christensen.&nbsp;

Mary graduated from Marion High School. She later married Harry Hein of Hillsboro, KS. During WWII, they lived in Bremerton, WA. At the end of the war, they returned to Hillsboro and later divorced. Mary worked at the Tip Top Credit Union, eventually moving to Marion. There, she was employed as a legal secretary at the Morse and Batt law firm. Mary remained there for approximately 25 years until her retirement. During this time, Mary also did bookkeeping and tax preparation for members of the community from her home. Additionally, she was a talented seamstress who made wedding dresses and custom clothing for individuals. In 1976, Mary was married to Marvin Hett. Mary was actively involved in her church as well as the Marion Senior Center. She was an avid Royals fan and rarely missed watching a game. She was dearly loved by all her friends and always provided for those who were ailing or in need.&nbsp;

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; her sisters Virginia and Georgia; sister in law Marge Christensen; son, Gene Hein; and great grandson Zachariah Freitek. Survivors include her brother Eugene Christensen; two daughters Rita Highsmith, Lees Summit MO., and Crystal Downey, O’Fallon MO.; six grandchildren, Marty Highsmith, Derby KS., Lori Freitek, Kansas City MO., Gina Granvold, Kirkland WA., Troy Hein, Portland OR., Demi Brown, O’Fallon MO., and Preston Arthur, O’Fallon, MO.; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held at Yazel Megli Funeral Home on Wednesday February 14, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Eastmoor United Methodist Church on Thursday February 15, 2024 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at the Marion Cemetery.

Quinn B. Trapp November 5, 1962 ~ February 8, 2024

Quinn’s life began November 5, 1962, in Herington. He is the son of James and Wanda (Martin) Trapp. Quinn was a 1981 graduate of Herington High School. He was united in marriage to Julie (Harbison) on May 25, 1996, at the Florence United Methodist Church. Quinn was a Master Plumber, owning and operating Trapp’s Plumbing and Well Service for 23 years, until he sold the business to Suffield Plumbing and continued to work for the new company. He later went to work for USD 408 coordinating transportation and maintenance throughout the school district. Quinn was a founding member of Marion Duck’s Unlimited in 2000, loved the outdoors, cooking, and Marion County Lake. He enjoyed his daily rides around the lake with his dogs. He was a member of the Marion Christian Church.&nbsp;

Quinn is survived by his wife Julie of Marion; sons Laramie (Megan) Trapp of St. George, KS, Jordan (Jessica) Trapp of Hillsboro, and Adam (Linzey) Trapp of McPherson; grandchildren Reagan, Rylee, Harlow, Paisyn and Braizlyn; sister in law Rose Bina (Greg) of Lee Summit, MO, brother Mike (Christine) Trapp of Herington, sister Debbie (David) Beam of Herington, his aunt Hazel Wendt of Council Grove; mother-in-law Arlene (Steve) Hysom, father-in-law John Harbison; brother-in-law John (Laura) Harbison III, sister-in-law Lisa (Don) Schindler, sister-in-law Ashley (Mat) Minton, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. &nbsp;He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Greg Trapp and grandson Judsyn Trapp.

Mabel Marie Oyer November 3, 1926 ~ February 7, 2024

Mabel Oyer, age 97, passed from this Earth on February 7, 2024, in Newton, Kansas and is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. Mabel’s life began on November 3, 1926, in Dodge City, KS. She was the daughter of John J. and Iva (Williams) Houser. Mabel is a graduate of Dodge City High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Rev. Lawrence “Larry” Oyer on August 21, 1949 in Dodge City, Kansas. Mabel and Lawrence were married 72 years prior to his death in 2022. The couple raised three daughters Marilyn Beth, Monta Jo, and Marta Kay. Mabel supported her husband in his Christian pastoral ministry and led in children’s and women’s ministry. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Mabel worked for Woolworth Co. in Dodge City, Montgomery Ward in Newton, and later J C Penney Co. in Wichita until her retirement in 1988. Mabel loved flower gardening, collecting dolls, windmills, and piggy banks. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling.&nbsp;

Mabel’s loving family includes her daughters M. Kay Pearson of Newton, M. Jo (Michael) Templin of Wichita, son-in-law Jim Mathews of Nixa, MO.; grandsons Ben Hawk, Isaac Pearson, and Kenny Scarpelli, all of Wichita, and Dane (Bethany) Templin of Lakewood, CO; great grandchildren Kaitlyn Scarpelli, Hartley Hagen,&nbsp;and Everett Templin.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, daughter Marilyn Mathews, son-in-law Steve Pearson, brothers Charles, Guy, Zimri, Clay, William Henry and Ted Houser, and sisters Madeline Fleming, Juanita Houser, and Elizabeth Wingert.&nbsp;

Her family will gather with friends on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater, Kansas where her memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. &nbsp;She will be laid to rest on Saturday February 17, 2024 at 12 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, Kansas. Claude Gay Jr. &nbsp;April 29, 1951 ~ February 7, 2024

Claude Gay JR, 72 passed away February 7, 2024. He was born April 29, 1951 in Hays, Kansas the son of Claude SR and Dorothy (Staley) Gay. Claude served in the United States Army. After his time in the service, he lived out in Colorado for several years, before moving back to Abilene and later part of his life he lived in Leavenworth. Marlene was born on July 27, 1934 in Beverly, KS to parents William Wendell and Bessie Irene Stanley Cassel.

Marlene attended Kansas Wesleyan University and Brown Mackie School of Business. She was a graduate of Salina High School. She worked in banking for over 20 years. She also worked at World Travel Center, Riddle Contracting Company, and George Appraisal. She belonged to the Wheathearts Chapter of National Society of Decorative Painters, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, AMBUCS, and served on the Convention and Tourism Committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Shawn Teagarden.

Marlene is survived by Spouse Charles Eugene Leister; Children Michelle Keeler and spouse Patrick of Salina, KS, Vicki Teagarden of La Cygne, KS, Lisa Leister - Hughes and spouse Dean; Others: Scott Teagarden (Grandson) and spouse Baylee, Ryan Keeler (Grandson) , Ashley Delehanty (Granddaughter) and spouse Dustin, Clara Alexander (Granddaughter) and spouse Eric, Charles Hughes (Grandson), Great-Grandchildren 7.

Patricia Fillerman passed away peacefully at Osage Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born in Little Rock, AR and later in her life move to Salina, KS. Patricia is survived by her daughter Joyce Phillips, son in law Chad Phillips of Nowata, OK, sisters Clara Jo Muir of Bennington, KS, Joyce Fast of Springdale, AR, grandkids Kaleb, Jake, Shelby, and Hailey all of Salina, KS. She is also survived by many family and friends.

Merrill “Dean” Gill, 77, of Newton, Kansas passed away on December 2, 2023. He was born in Clifton, Kansas to Frederick M. and Hazel (Kahrs) Gill. He was raised in the Clifton area where he attended school. He graduated from Clifton High School. He moved to Manhattan, Kansas, where he was a meatcutter. Dean worked at Beech Aircraft in Salina and then in Wichita. He retired as a Flight Inspector after 35 years of service.

Dean loved family time, discovery with metal detecting and taking vacations. He enjoyed his time being Santa and bringing joy to so many. Dean’s greatest love was his family.

Dean is survived by his wife and love of his life; Colleen, sons Gary and Patrick (Zephyr) Gill, grandchildren Zach (Jamie), Zap, Volt, Bas and Cru Gill, great grandson Jayden, great granddaughter Natalie Gill, great grandson Neko, mother Hazel Gill, sister Patricia Johnston, brother Kurtis (Nori) Gill, sister-in-law Connie (Mike) Street, and brother-in-law Galen (Jodee) Haas, as well as many other family members and friends.

Frances L. Langshaw August 19, 1936 ~ January 24, 2024

Frances L. Langshaw&nbsp;passed away peacefully at 87 years of age on January 24, 2024 with her children at her side. She was born August 19, 1936 in Salina, Kansas where she spent most of her life.&nbsp; Frances married Richard L. Ryberg and thus produced two children; Russell L. Ryberg (Salina) and Rena L. Ryberg (Spearville.)

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Etta Langshaw, and her brother, George.&nbsp; Survivors include her son and daughter; her three grandchildren: Alyson Ryberg (Richmond, TX), Nikki Ryberg (fiancee Andy Khamdalanikone, Salina) and Travis Ryberg (Salina); as well as eight great-grandchildren.

Frances was a proud member of the graduating class of 1954 from Salina High School; her classmates and class reunions were a source of joy. She was also a graduate of Marymount College of Salina and an Alpha Xi Delta Sorority member from Kansas State University.

Frances was a Salina “historian” and loved her hometown. She shared her knowledge with many and was an avid collector of all things Salina. She was a member of the Saline County Historical Society; a long-time member of Native Daughters; as well as a fifty-year member of Eastern Star.

Frances was an educator, teaching in numerous schools during her time in the classroom. She was perhaps best known as the In-School Suspension teacher at Roosevelt-Lincoln Junior High in Salina, Kansas where she was known as Frances Norlin (as she was married to Gilbert D. Norlin at that time.)

Frances loved animals! Whether it be a furry or feathered friend, her heart was big and her spirit generous. To honor this special woman, please feel free to make a donation in her memory to the Salina Animal Services.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, Kansas.

Sandra "Sandi" Jo Dilling June 25, 1936 ~ February 2, 2024

Sandra "Sandi" Jo Dilling, 87, of Salina, Ks, peacefully crossed over on Friday Feb 2, 2024, surrounded by family. Sandi was born at home in Salina on June 25, 1936. She attended Whittier Elementary, Roosevelt Jr High, and the newly opened Salina High School, graduating in 1954. She made many life-long friends from these schools. After high school she attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska for a year majoring in English. Sandi returned to Salina, attended Brown Mackie to gain secretarial skills. She held jobs at The Pines as a soda jerk in high school, then worked at a large equipment firm that sold the Caterpillar and Furco brands as a secretary.

Sandi met Kenneth Perry, who was stationed at Schilling Air Force base, and married him in 1958. She was a homemaker for the next several years and worked as a cook for the Martin Luther King Day Care Center during that time. She achieved her bachelor’s degree from Kansas Wesleyan in 1986 with a major in business and minor in psychology. Sandi went to work as a receptionist/clerk at the YWCA where she later became the office manager. Sandi began working at the Domestic Violence Center of Central Kansas (DVACK) as a rape and domestic violence counselor. She was promoted to the Executive Director of DVACK where she opened a new Safe House. After retirement, Sandi worked at Schilling Elementary as a Foster Grandparent, helping children improve their reading, writing and math skills. &nbsp;&nbsp;Sandi was a generous, loving, vibrant, witty and creative person. She loved animals including her dogs and cats. She pursued many creative outlets including beading jewelry, ceramics, making clothes, and cross-stitching. Sandi was very involved with her family, including her parents, children, brother, cousins and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;Sandi is survived by her daughters, Tamara “Tami” Perry of Salina, Ks and Tracy Parks (Gordon) of Marion, Ks. Granddaughters are Keegan (Tyler) Bailey of Beloit, Ks; Carissa (Lee) Wigton, Olpe, Ks; and Cheyenne Perry-Parks of Olpe, Ks. Don Dlling (Betty)of Pratt, Ks and Doug Dilling of Indianapolis, Indiana, one niece and several cousins also survive Sandi. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Gladys (2002) and Delmer (1983) Dilliing her parents, her brother Tracy Dilling (2017) and her son Kevin (2000) Perry. &nbsp;

Sandi was a loving, witty, creative people-person. She enjoyed her family, her friends and life.

The service will be held on Saturday, February 17,2024 at 1 p.m., and a lite luncheon will follow, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, Ks. Graveside service will be held at later date.

Norma May Baker January 3, 1936 ~ February 9, 2024

Norma May Baker, age 88, a resident of Salina, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2024.

Norma was born in Woodbine, Kansas to William and Sarah Schultz. Norma grew up on a farm outside of Woodbine. She was the youngest of 15 children.

Norma met Ronald Baker in the summer of 1953. They did not meet again until Ron came home from the Army in 1955. Ron and Norma were married on August 4, 1956. Ron had to ship out again one week after the wedding.

After Ron completed his service in the Army they moved to Salina, Kansas. They resided in Salina, Kansas their entire lives. Norma is the beloved mother of Mark, Mike (deceased), Rod, Randy, and Ron. Norma was an active member of Grace Baptist Fellowship. She served as the church pianist and sang in the choir. The Baker Family toured and provided special music and encouragement to many churches in the Kansas area and across the western United States. Norma continued to work outside the home in retail sales. She worked in the family business as well as other retail businesses retiring from JC Penny’s. Norma spent her time after retirement making quilts for friends and family including all family pets. Her joy was loving on her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ron, her son, Michael, her grandson, Kurt, and her siblings and parents.

She is survived by Mark Edward Baker and his wife, Debra Baker of Monument, Colorado; Rodney Alan Baker and his wife, Rhonda Baker of Orange, California; Randall Ray Baker of Salina, Kansas; and Ronald James Baker of Calhan, Colorado. She has 7 grandchildren including Kendra Baker, Kyle Baker, Ashley Baker, Kelly (Baker) Dev and her husband, Purushottam, Courtney Baker, John Baker and his wife, Chelsi Stapleton, and James Baker. Daughters-in-law Marcenda Baker and Charlotte Baker.

Norma M. Baker

Richard Allen Allison was born on May 25th, 1943 to Mildred and Richard Allison in Salina, KS. After a courageous battle with a spinal cord injury, that left him paralyzed, he passed away February 1st, 2024 with his family and his loyal dog, Macy, by his side in Blanding, Utah. Dick, as he was known by family and friends, spent most of his life in the Salina, KS. area. He worked for Bennett Pontiac as a certified mechanic, then Westinghouse as a line mechanic for 16 years. Dick then changed professions and acquired his CDL spending several years on the road. After seeing the sights in a semi-truck he then worked for KSU as an electrician for 10 years, then retired.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, snorkeling, hunting, ATVing and traveling. His adventurous side took him to San Juan County in 1996 while vacationing. He loved the area so much that in 2005 after retiring he bought a lot in Blanding and built his house there. He will be remembered for his small ATV guide service, ornery personality, unusual laugh and wild adventurous side.

He is survived by a daughter, Donita Allison and Jack Hartgraves of Kansas, a son, Kerry and Traci Allison of Oklahoma, Sister Diane Kirby of Missouri, brother Darrell and the late Karen Allison of Kansas, brother Dennis and Kathy of Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

Dick’s wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread in San Juan County.  </figure>Richard Allen Allison was born on May 25th, 1943 to Mildred and Richard Allison in Salina, KS. After a courageous battle with a spinal cord injury, that left him paralyzed, he passed away February 1st, 2024 with his family and his loyal dog, Macy, by his side in Blanding, Utah. Dick, as he was known by family and friends, spent most of his life in the Salina, KS. area. He worked for Bennett Pontiac as a certified mechanic, then Westinghouse as a line mechanic for 16 years. Dick then changed professions and acquired his CDL spending several years on the road. After seeing the sights in a semi-truck he then worked for KSU as an electrician for 10 years, then retired.Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, snorkeling, hunting, ATVing and traveling. His adventurous side took him to San Juan County in 1996 while vacationing. He loved the area so much that in 2005 after retiring he bought a lot in Blanding and built his house there. He will be remembered for his small ATV guide service, ornery personality, unusual laugh and wild adventurous side.He is survived by a daughter, Donita Allison and Jack Hartgraves of Kansas, a son, Kerry and Traci Allison of Oklahoma, Sister Diane Kirby of Missouri, brother Darrell and the late Karen Allison of Kansas, brother Dennis and Kathy of Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.Dick’s wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread in San Juan County. Jeff’s life began on October 2, 1980, in Hillsboro. He is the son of Dana Klassen Riling and James Whisler. He is a 1999 graduate of the Wichita North High School. Jeff worked most of his life in the fast-food industry, working for KFC in Wichita and most recently as a manager at Wendy’s in Hillsboro. He was confirmed and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Jeff had a great sense of humor which he passed onto to his children. He enjoyed bowling with friends, WWE Wrestling, KU, and Laker’s basketball and cheering for the Detroit Lions. Jeff got his love of wrestling and basketball from his grandpa Klassen. &nbsp;He loved the Three Stooges and Abbott and Costello comedies. &nbsp;Jeff is survived by his children Grimm, Epona, and Roderic Whisler of Hillsboro, his mother Dana Riling of Hillsboro, his father James Whisler of Illinois, his children’s mother Vicki Whisler of Hillsboro and many friends. Jeff passed away suddenly on Monday February 5, 2024, in Marion. Dolores Ann (Johnson) St. Pierre, age 88, of Concordia, Kansas, left this earthly life on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the North Central Kansas Medical Center, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born October 6, 1935, in Clay Center, Kansas. Her parents were Gilbert P. Johnson and Edith K. (Peterson) Johnson.

Dolores graduated in 1953 from Clay County High School. She attended Bethany Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas and became a registered nurse in 1956 and received a B.S. in Nursing in 1960 from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC.

Dolores married Robert St. Pierre at the First United Methodist Church in Clay Center on September 24, 1967.&nbsp; To this union two children were born Eric and Karen. She was an active member of the Clyde United Methodist Church until its closing and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Concordia and United Methodist Women.&nbsp; She had been a member of Chapter AV, P.E.O. of Clyde since 1969.

Dolores and Robert spent fifteen winter years in Mesa, AZ community. She enjoyed reading, watching K-State, KU and Kansas City Chiefs sports, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, a brother, Robert L. Johnson, and a niece Trudy A. Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Eric R. St. Pierre and wife Deborah of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Karen St. Pierre Hutton and husband Vawn of Salina, KS.

Grandchildren, Kyle A. Brack, Krystyne R. Brack, Derrick A. Brack, Sevrin R. St. Pierre and Asher G. St. Pierre.

Great-Grandchildren, Arabella Brack, Blake Robert Brack, and Kamali Brack; Sister-in-law, Margie Johnson, Nephews, Walter St. Pierre, and Tracy A. Johnson; Nieces, Mary Ann (Ken) Palmquist, Joyce (Jim) Coppoc, Sandy (Roger) Sample, Anne (Greg) Tarbutton, Debbie (Darryl) One, Ruth (Joe) Fakler, Virginia (Gene) Charbonneau.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 pm on&nbsp;Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm.

Waylon Stephen Marnell, age six weeks, of Ottawa, Kansas died Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Children’s Mercy hospital, Kansas City, MO.

He was born December 13, 2024 at 9:39 p.m. in Lawrence, Kansas at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the son of Hope Leitner. Waylon survived through the help of his Mother, Hope. He was a healthy baby, who was loved by everyone. He loved to watch Frozen movies and Coco Melon that would keep him very content. He was just starting to learn his personality, his smile, his voice, who he was most comfortable with.  He loved to be in his mama’s arms, it would soothe and calm him in a way he loved.  He would want to be held in her arms throughout the whole day especially when going to bed, always cuddled, it was his most favorite time, being in her arms.  How he loved bath time but as soon as it ended he hated the cold breeze but would be calm after he got wrapped up.  They would always have movie nights every night it was their time skin to skin, the moments of cuddles, just loving on each other.  Oh how he loved to be swaddled on some nights then would hate it on others.  How he would get milk drunk, those milk drunk smiles were the best.  So many memories to cherish.  He will Forever Be Loved.  Little Stinker Stink, Sweet Baby Loves, Rainbow Baby.  I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you in heaven.

Waylon is survived by his parents, Jason and Hope; maternal grandmother, Debra Leitner, Falls, ID; maternal grandfather, Brad Leitner, Middlesboro, KY; paternal grandmother, Kandy Edwards, Piedmont, MO; paternal grandfather, Greg Edwards, Piedmont, MO and several uncles and aunts.

Tommy R. Sheldon August 29, 1940 ~ February 5, 2024

Tommy R. Sheldon, 83, of Ottawa, Kansas died Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home.

He was born August 29, 1940 in Carrollton, MO the son of Maurice Sheldon and Margaret (Atkinson) Sheldon.

On January 17, 1970, Tom was united in marriage to Pamela K. Wilson in Phoenix, AZ. They shared fifty-four years of loving marriage.

Tom was a lifelong printer working in multiple print shops over the years until he started his own business D&amp;B Print Shop, Olathe, KS in 1997. In 2006 he retired, selling the business to his son, Rob but continued to always check in on the business and was often still working and helping out up until this past year.

Tom was a true baseball enthusiast. He loved his years of coaching baseball and he loved cheering on the Kansas City Royals. He looked forward to Opening Day every year and attending games with his family. He also enjoyed golf and in his younger years he liked to bowl. He started his day with a daily devotional to God, and enjoyed listening to church services on the television and was a very giving person. He was always there to help someone in need of assistance. Most important in his life was his family, He loved being with his children, following up on his grandchildren and their adventures and he was devoted and loving caregiver to his wife Pam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Margaret Sheldon; daughter, Dawn Sheldon, and a son, Brad Sheldon.

Tom is survived by his wife, Pam Sheldon of the home; four children, Cathy Vohs and her husband Ronnie, Paola, KS, Mike Sheldon and his wife, Kelly, Paola, KS, Leslie Clark and her husband, Steve, Ripon, CA, Rob Sheldon and his wife, Kathy, Princeton, KS; a brother, Jeff Sheldon, Texas; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
