Garold “Wayne” Vignery Sr., 95, passed away peacefully in his house on October 24th, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Wayne, as he is affectionately known, was united in marriage to his beloved Clara Krone in Minneapolis on May 20th, 1961. Like his artwork, together, they created a lifetime of memories filled with laughter and joy, sharing countless moments with family and friends. Wayne had a deep passion for the outdoors, and he especially treasured the times spent hunting and fishing with his sons and friends, and camping at local lakes.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. After returning from his military service, he dedicated himself to his work at Super Sweet in Salina, KS. He took on various roles as a lumberjack and at grain elevators across the Midwest, showing his strong work ethic and determination. He was sadly preceded in death by his grandson, Derek Edgerton.
Wayne’s legacy of love and kindness will live on through his devoted wife, Clara of Bennington, KS, his daughters Cindy Coleman of Kennewick, Washington and Debby Edgerton of Salina, KS, and his sons, Melvin Vignery of John Day, Oregon, Garold Wayne Vignery Jr. (Jennifer) of Bennington, Kansas, and Allen Vignery (Denise) of Bennington, Kansas. He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life: Sharon Gaughan, Christopher Coleman (Myrta), Kevin Vignery (Shabri), Stephanie McDaniel (Chance), Cassandra Edgerton, Cody Edgerton (Ashlynn), Jesse Vignery, Eric Johnston, Amanda Vignery, Terry Vignery (Julie), Sheila Searcy (Jim), Samantha Fyfe, August Degraff, Jordan Vignery, and many cherished great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held in memory of Wayne at the Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, Kansas on November 9th, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Following the service, we invite all to join a Celebration of Life and Fellowship at Bennington Bible Church, 824 N. Nelson Bennington, Kansas.
Contributions to assist Clara with funeral expenses would be deeply appreciated in this difficult time. Thank you for honoring Wayne's memory and supporting his family.
