Claude Gay JR, 72 passed away February 7, 2024. He was born April 29, 1951 in Hays, Kansas the son of Claude SR and Dorothy (Staley) Gay. Claude served in the United States Army. After his time in the service, he lived out in Colorado for several years, before moving back to Abilene and later part of his life he lived in Leavenworth. He is survived by his sisters, Kathy Geske and husband Tim of Enterprise and Linda Gray on Anchorage, Alaska. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roxanna (Roxie). Marlene Yvonne Leister, 89, passed away on February 10, 2024 in Salina, KS.

Marlene was born on July 27, 1934 in Beverly, KS to parents William Wendell and Bessie Irene Stanley Cassel.

Marlene attended Kansas Wesleyan University and Brown Mackie School of Business. She was a graduate of Salina High School. She worked in banking for over 20 years. She also worked at World Travel Center, Riddle Contracting Company, and George Appraisal. She belonged to the Wheathearts Chapter of National Society of Decorative Painters, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, AMBUCS, and served on the Convention and Tourism Committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Shawn Teagarden.

Marlene is survived by Spouse Charles Eugene Leister; Children Michelle Keeler and spouse Patrick of Salina, KS, Vicki Teagarden of La Cygne, KS, Lisa Leister - Hughes and spouse Dean; Others: Scott Teagarden (Grandson) and spouse Baylee, Ryan Keeler (Grandson) , Ashley Delehanty (Granddaughter) and spouse Dustin, Clara Alexander (Granddaughter) and spouse Eric, Charles Hughes (Grandson), Great-Grandchildren 7.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel with Pastor Mark Boxman officiating. Patricia Fillerman passed away peacefully at Osage Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born in Little Rock, AR and later in her life move to Salina, KS. Patricia was a CNA for some years at Kenwood View Nursing Home. Due to injury she stayed at home to raise her daughter and take care of her family. She went to church and volunteered at the Salvation Army. She loved helping people and hanging with the ladies from church. Patricia had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.

Patricia is survived by her daughter Joyce Phillips, son in law Chad Phillips of Nowata, OK, sisters Clara Jo Muir of Bennington, KS, Joyce Fast of Springdale, AR, grandkids Kaleb, Jake, Shelby, and Hailey all of Salina, KS. She is also survived by many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Boone, Mary Paige, husband Larry Fillerman, sister Sue Johnson, brother in laws Dale Muir, Chuck Fast and David Johnson.

Merrill “Dean” Gill, 77, of Newton, Kansas passed away on December 2, 2023. He was born in Clifton, Kansas to Frederick M. and Hazel (Kahrs) Gill. He was raised in the Clifton area where he attended school. He graduated from Clifton High School. He moved to Manhattan, Kansas, where he was a meatcutter. Dean worked at Beech Aircraft in Salina and then in Wichita. He retired as a Flight Inspector after 35 years of service.

Dean loved family time, discovery with metal detecting and taking vacations. He enjoyed his time being Santa and bringing joy to so many. Dean’s greatest love was his family.

Dean is survived by his wife and love of his life; Colleen, sons Gary and Patrick (Zephyr) Gill, grandchildren Zach (Jamie), Zap, Volt, Bas and Cru Gill, great grandson Jayden, great granddaughter Natalie Gill, great grandson Neko, mother Hazel Gill, sister Patricia Johnston, brother Kurtis (Nori) Gill, sister-in-law Connie (Mike) Street, and brother-in-law Galen (Jodee) Haas, as well as many other family members and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his father Frederick Gill, brother Raymond Gill, and grandson Ocean Van Gill.

Frances L. Langshaw August 19, 1936 ~ January 24, 2024

Frances L. Langshaw&nbsp;passed away peacefully at 87 years of age on January 24, 2024 with her children at her side. She was born August 19, 1936 in Salina, Kansas where she spent most of her life.&nbsp; Frances married Richard L. Ryberg and thus produced two children; Russell L. Ryberg (Salina) and Rena L. Ryberg (Spearville.)

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Etta Langshaw, and her brother, George.&nbsp; Survivors include her son and daughter; her three grandchildren: Alyson Ryberg (Richmond, TX), Nikki Ryberg (fiancee Andy Khamdalanikone, Salina) and Travis Ryberg (Salina); as well as eight great-grandchildren.

Frances was a proud member of the graduating class of 1954 from Salina High School; her classmates and class reunions were a source of joy. She was also a graduate of Marymount College of Salina and an Alpha Xi Delta Sorority member from Kansas State University.

Frances was a Salina “historian” and loved her hometown. She shared her knowledge with many and was an avid collector of all things Salina. She was a member of the Saline County Historical Society; a long-time member of Native Daughters; as well as a fifty-year member of Eastern Star.

Frances was an educator, teaching in numerous schools during her time in the classroom. She was perhaps best known as the In-School Suspension teacher at Roosevelt-Lincoln Junior High in Salina, Kansas where she was known as Frances Norlin (as she was married to Gilbert D. Norlin at that time.)

Frances loved animals! Whether it be a furry or feathered friend, her heart was big and her spirit generous. To honor this special woman, please feel free to make a donation in her memory to the Salina Animal Services.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, Kansas.

Sandra "Sandi" Jo Dilling June 25, 1936 ~ February 2, 2024

Sandra "Sandi" Jo Dilling, 87, of Salina, Ks, peacefully crossed over on Friday Feb 2, 2024, surrounded by family. Sandi was born at home in Salina on June 25, 1936. She attended Whittier Elementary, Roosevelt Jr High, and the newly opened Salina High School, graduating in 1954. She made many life-long friends from these schools. After high school she attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska for a year majoring in English. Sandi returned to Salina, attended Brown Mackie to gain secretarial skills. She held jobs at The Pines as a soda jerk in high school, then worked at a large equipment firm that sold the Caterpillar and Furco brands as a secretary.

Sandi met Kenneth Perry, who was stationed at Schilling Air Force base, and married him in 1958. She was a homemaker for the next several years and worked as a cook for the Martin Luther King Day Care Center during that time. She achieved her bachelor’s degree from Kansas Wesleyan in 1986 with a major in business and minor in psychology. Sandi went to work as a receptionist/clerk at the YWCA where she later became the office manager. Sandi began working at the Domestic Violence Center of Central Kansas (DVACK) as a rape and domestic violence counselor. She was promoted to the Executive Director of DVACK where she opened a new Safe House. After retirement, Sandi worked at Schilling Elementary as a Foster Grandparent, helping children improve their reading, writing and math skills. &nbsp;&nbsp;Sandi was a generous, loving, vibrant, witty and creative person. She loved animals including her dogs and cats. She pursued many creative outlets including beading jewelry, ceramics, making clothes, and cross-stitching. Sandi was very involved with her family, including her parents, children, brother, cousins and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;Sandi is survived by her daughters, Tamara “Tami” Perry of Salina, Ks and Tracy Parks (Gordon) of Marion, Ks. Granddaughters are Keegan (Tyler) Bailey of Beloit, Ks; Carissa (Lee) Wigton, Olpe, Ks; and Cheyenne Perry-Parks of Olpe, Ks. Don Dlling (Betty)of Pratt, Ks and Doug Dilling of Indianapolis, Indiana, one niece and several cousins also survive Sandi. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Gladys (2002) and Delmer (1983) Dilliing her parents, her brother Tracy Dilling (2017) and her son Kevin (2000) Perry. &nbsp;

Sandi was a loving, witty, creative people-person. She enjoyed her family, her friends and life.

The service will be held on Saturday, February 17,2024 at 1 p.m., and a lite luncheon will follow, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, Ks. Graveside service will be held at later date.

Norma May Baker January 3, 1936 ~ February 9, 2024

Norma May Baker, age 88, a resident of Salina, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2024.

Norma was born in Woodbine, Kansas to William and Sarah Schultz. Norma grew up on a farm outside of Woodbine. She was the youngest of 15 children.

Norma met Ronald Baker in the summer of 1953. They did not meet again until Ron came home from the Army in 1955. Ron and Norma were married on August 4, 1956. Ron had to ship out again one week after the wedding.

After Ron completed his service in the Army they moved to Salina, Kansas. They resided in Salina, Kansas their entire lives. Norma is the beloved mother of Mark, Mike (deceased), Rod, Randy, and Ron. Norma was an active member of Grace Baptist Fellowship. She served as the church pianist and sang in the choir. The Baker Family toured and provided special music and encouragement to many churches in the Kansas area and across the western United States. Norma continued to work outside the home in retail sales. She worked in the family business as well as other retail businesses retiring from JC Penny’s. Norma spent her time after retirement making quilts for friends and family including all family pets. Her joy was loving on her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ron, her son, Michael, her grandson, Kurt, and her siblings and parents.

She is survived by Mark Edward Baker and his wife, Debra Baker of Monument, Colorado; Rodney Alan Baker and his wife, Rhonda Baker of Orange, California; Randall Ray Baker of Salina, Kansas; and Ronald James Baker of Calhan, Colorado. She has 7 grandchildren including Kendra Baker, Kyle Baker, Ashley Baker, Kelly (Baker) Dev and her husband, Purushottam, Courtney Baker, John Baker and his wife, Chelsi Stapleton, and James Baker. Daughters-in-law Marcenda Baker and Charlotte Baker.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in the Grace Baptist Church in Salina, KS. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina, KS.

Norma M. Baker

Richard Allen Allison was born on May 25th, 1943 to Mildred and Richard Allison in Salina, KS. After a courageous battle with a spinal cord injury, that left him paralyzed, he passed away February 1st, 2024 with his family and his loyal dog, Macy, by his side in Blanding, Utah. Dick, as he was known by family and friends, spent most of his life in the Salina, KS. area. He worked for Bennett Pontiac as a certified mechanic, then Westinghouse as a line mechanic for 16 years. Dick then changed professions and acquired his CDL spending several years on the road. After seeing the sights in a semi-truck he then worked for KSU as an electrician for 10 years, then retired.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, snorkeling, hunting, ATVing and traveling. His adventurous side took him to San Juan County in 1996 while vacationing. He loved the area so much that in 2005 after retiring he bought a lot in Blanding and built his house there. He will be remembered for his small ATV guide service, ornery personality, unusual laugh and wild adventurous side.

He is survived by a daughter, Donita Allison and Jack Hartgraves of Kansas, a son, Kerry and Traci Allison of Oklahoma, Sister Diane Kirby of Missouri, brother Darrell and the late Karen Allison of Kansas, brother Dennis and Kathy of Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

Dick’s wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread in San Juan County. There will be no funeral services but a memorial in his name will be placed in Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis, Kansas near his mother, father, sister-in-law, nephew and other relatives. Any donations may be made to the donor’s choice of an animal rescue.

After a courageous battle with a spinal cord injury, that left him paralyzed, he passed away February 1st, 2024 with his family and his loyal dog, Macy, by his side in Blanding, Utah. Dick, as he was known by family and friends, spent most of his life in the Salina, KS. area. He worked for Bennett Pontiac as a certified mechanic, then Westinghouse as a line mechanic for 16 years. Dick then changed professions and acquired his CDL spending several years on the road. After seeing the sights in a semi-truck he then worked for KSU as an electrician for 10 years, then retired.Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, snorkeling, hunting, ATVing and traveling. His adventurous side took him to San Juan County in 1996 while vacationing. He loved the area so much that in 2005 after retiring he bought a lot in Blanding and built his house there. Jeff’s life began on October 2, 1980, in Hillsboro. He is the son of Dana Klassen Riling and James Whisler. He is a 1999 graduate of the Wichita North High School. Jeff worked most of his life in the fast-food industry, working for KFC in Wichita and most recently as a manager at Wendy’s in Hillsboro. He was confirmed and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Jeff had a great sense of humor which he passed onto to his children. He enjoyed bowling with friends, WWE Wrestling, KU, and Laker’s basketball and cheering for the Detroit Lions. Jeff got his love of wrestling and basketball from his grandpa Klassen. &nbsp;He loved the Three Stooges and Abbott and Costello comedies. &nbsp;Jeff is survived by his children Grimm, Epona, and Roderic Whisler of Hillsboro, his mother Dana Riling of Hillsboro, his father James Whisler of Illinois, his children’s mother Vicki Whisler of Hillsboro and many friends. Dolores Ann (Johnson) St. Pierre, age 88, of Concordia, Kansas, left this earthly life on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the North Central Kansas Medical Center, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born October 6, 1935, in Clay Center, Kansas. Her parents were Gilbert P. Johnson and Edith K. (Peterson) Johnson.

Dolores graduated in 1953 from Clay County High School. She attended Bethany Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas and became a registered nurse in 1956 and received a B.S. in Nursing in 1960 from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC.

Dolores married Robert St. Pierre at the First United Methodist Church in Clay Center on September 24, 1967.&nbsp; To this union two children were born Eric and Karen. She was an active member of the Clyde United Methodist Church until its closing and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Concordia and United Methodist Women.&nbsp; She had been a member of Chapter AV, P.E.O. of Clyde since 1969.

Dolores and Robert spent fifteen winter years in Mesa, AZ community. She enjoyed reading, watching K-State, KU and Kansas City Chiefs sports, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, a brother, Robert L. Johnson, and a niece Trudy A. Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Eric R. St. Pierre and wife Deborah of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Karen St. Pierre Hutton and husband Vawn of Salina, KS.

Grandchildren, Kyle A. Brack, Krystyne R. Brack, Derrick A. Brack, Sevrin R. St. Pierre and Asher G. St. Pierre.

Great-Grandchildren, Arabella Brack, Blake Robert Brack, and Kamali Brack; Sister-in-law, Margie Johnson, Nephews, Walter St. Pierre, and Tracy A. Waylon Stephen Marnell, age six weeks, of Ottawa, Kansas died Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Children’s Mercy hospital, Kansas City, MO.

He was born December 13, 2024 at 9:39 p.m. in Lawrence, Kansas at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the son of Hope Leitner. Waylon survived through the help of his Mother, Hope. He was a healthy baby, who was loved by everyone. He loved to watch Frozen movies and Coco Melon that would keep him very content. He was just starting to learn his personality, his smile, his voice, who he was most comfortable with.  He loved to be in his mama’s arms, it would soothe and calm him in a way he loved.  He would want to be held in her arms throughout the whole day especially when going to bed, always cuddled, it was his most favorite time, being in her arms.  How he loved bath time but as soon as it ended he hated the cold breeze but would be calm after he got wrapped up.  They would always have movie nights every night it was their time skin to skin, the moments of cuddles, just loving on each other.  Oh how he loved to be swaddled on some nights then would hate it on others.  How he would get milk drunk, those milk drunk smiles were the best.  So many memories to cherish.  He will Forever Be Loved.  Little Stinker Stink, Sweet Baby Loves, Rainbow Baby.  I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you in heaven.

Tommy R. Sheldon August 29, 1940 ~ February 5, 2024

Tommy R. Sheldon, 83, of Ottawa, Kansas died Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home.

He was born August 29, 1940 in Carrollton, MO the son of Maurice Sheldon and Margaret (Atkinson) Sheldon.

On January 17, 1970, Tom was united in marriage to Pamela K. Wilson in Phoenix, AZ. They shared fifty-four years of loving marriage.

Tom was a lifelong printer working in multiple print shops over the years until he started his own business D&amp;B Print Shop, Olathe, KS in 1997. In 2006 he retired, selling the business to his son, Rob but continued to always check in on the business and was often still working and helping out up until this past year.

Tom was a true baseball enthusiast. He loved his years of coaching baseball and he loved cheering on the Kansas City Royals. He looked forward to Opening Day every year and attending games with his family. He also enjoyed golf and in his younger years he liked to bowl. He started his day with a daily devotional to God, and enjoyed listening to church services on the television and was a very giving person. He was always there to help someone in need of assistance. Most important in his life was his family, He loved being with his children, following up on his grandchildren and their adventures and he was devoted and loving caregiver to his wife Pam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Margaret Sheldon; daughter, Dawn Sheldon, and a son, Brad Sheldon.

Tom is survived by his wife, Pam Sheldon of the home; four children, Cathy Vohs and her husband Ronnie, Paola, KS, Mike Sheldon and his wife, Kelly, Paola, KS, Leslie Clark and her husband, Steve, Ripon, CA, Rob Sheldon and his wife, Kathy, Princeton, KS; a brother, Jeff Sheldon, Texas; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Tommy R. Sheldon

Richard Lynn Charles, 79,&nbsp;died February 5,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;at his&nbsp;daughter’s&nbsp;home in Newton, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born May 18, 1944, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Cecil C. and Geraldine J. (Whitlow) Charles. &nbsp;Richard graduated from Hoisington High School and then attended Fort Hays&nbsp;State College majoring in&nbsp;botany&nbsp;and wildlife management.&nbsp;Richard enlisted&nbsp;with the&nbsp;Army National Guard in the&nbsp;995th&nbsp;Maintenance Company out of Barton County and later&nbsp;served&nbsp;his country in the Vietnam Conflict from 1968&nbsp;to&nbsp;1969&nbsp;with the&nbsp;26th&nbsp;Infantry Division&nbsp;of the United States Army. &nbsp;

Richard&nbsp;farmed the family farm near Beaver Kansas for&nbsp;many years while also working&nbsp;as a conductor for the railroad. He&nbsp;worked on the RioGrande Management and the Missouri Pacific and later retired&nbsp;with the Union Pacific Railroad in&nbsp;2002.

A&nbsp;resident of Lindsborg since 2013 moving from Great Bend,&nbsp;Richard&nbsp;was an&nbsp;outdoor enthusiast.&nbsp;He&nbsp;loved spending time outdoors watching&nbsp;wildlife&nbsp;and even&nbsp;helping&nbsp;raise wild birds.&nbsp;Although&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;most passionate about watching his grandkids in&nbsp;their&nbsp;school events and sports games&nbsp;and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on.

On May 28, 1983, he married Marilyn Kay Funk in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp;They later divorced but remained good friends until her passing&nbsp;on October&nbsp;2,&nbsp;2022.

He&nbsp;leaves behind a daughter;&nbsp;Cassie&nbsp;Koehn and husband Dustin&nbsp;of Newton; a sister, Sandra Kae Stout of Battle&nbsp;Creek,&nbsp;Michigan; and six grandchildren, Cade, Matthew, Tyler, Kylie, Lakyn, and Kinzie.; and his loyal dog, Jake.

He was&nbsp;preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnn Fraser.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

(Whitlow) Charles. &nbsp;Richard graduated from Hoisington High School and then attended Fort Hays&nbsp;State College majoring in&nbsp;botany&nbsp;and wildlife management.&nbsp;Richard enlisted&nbsp;with the&nbsp;Army National Guard in the&nbsp;995th&nbsp;Maintenance Company out of Barton County and later&nbsp;served&nbsp;his country in the Vietnam Conflict from 1968&nbsp;to&nbsp;1969&nbsp;with the&nbsp;26th&nbsp;Infantry Division&nbsp;of the United States Army. &nbsp;Richard&nbsp;farmed the family farm near Beaver Kansas for&nbsp;many years while also working&nbsp;as a conductor for the railroad. Helen Rose (Johnson) Messersmith February 23, 1929 - February 2, 2024

Helen Rose (Johnson) Messersmith passed peacefully on February 2, 2024, in Salina, Kansas, comforted by her sisters’ presence.

Helen was born to John and Elizabeth Pfeifer on February 23, 1929, in Greely, Kansas. She was always proud of her large family, being the 6th of 11 children. After starting her adult life in Leoti, Kansas, where her family lived, Helen moved to Colorado. She settled and lived over forty years on a ranch near Karval, Colorado, where she raised her son, Larry.&nbsp;

Helen developed a distinguished reputation for helping others and working hard. She demonstrated love, empathy, and kindness through acts of service. Family, friends, and community members knew they could count on Helen in a time of need. It was not at all unusual for her to assist stranded travelers as well who were fortunate to cross her path. She kept her house immaculately clean and lawn manicured. At a time when others her age were looking forward to retirement, she committed to raising her granddaughters, Shelley and Brenda. She continued to work to support the life she believed they deserved, sometimes juggling three jobs to do so. Helen truly loved and thrived in her role as proud “Gramma” to Shelley and Brenda!

It could be said that Helen gently stepped into the role of the family matriarch following her mother’s passing in 1984. She opened her house for enormous family gatherings and made everyone feel like it brought her joy to do so. Christmases at Helen’s were especially cherished by her siblings, nieces, and nephews. Helen was a notoriously great cook! She kept the full meals, homemade candies, and pies coming for the herd of family that poured into her home on the ranch for the holiday.&nbsp;

Helen lived a long life and those close to her are grateful for the time. Her fantastic sense of humor, distinguished laugh, and demonstrations of love for those left behind will be missed beyond measure.&nbsp;

Helen’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her sister, Theresa Beedy, and her niece, Roxie Eichelberger, for their thoughtful care of Helen during her residency in Salina, KS. Their dedication of time and energy to ensure Helen’s needs were always met is truly appreciated.&nbsp;

Helen is survived by her sisters, Theresa Beedy (Leon) of Salina, KS; Alice Shafer of Litchfield, CT, and Lucille Mann of Tulsa, OK; her granddaughters, Shelley Dorland (Brett) of Greely, CO, and Brenda Johnson of Alvin, TX; her great-granddaughters, Kalyn and Karlie Dorland of Greely, CO; her great-grandson, Ryan Johnson of Austin, TX; and her daughter-in-law, Pat Johnson of Bozeman, Montana; her step great-grandson, Richard Knibbs of Lewisville, TX.&nbsp;

Helen is proceeded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Pfeifer; her spouse, Barney Messersmith; her son, Larry Johnson; her brothers, Bernard, Edward, and William Pfeifer; her sisters, Severina Wimmer, Lorena Swanson, and Arlene Lenox.

A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel; 1920 E. Crawford, Salina, KS 67401. The location of a following luncheon will be provided at the service.

Carol June Scholes&nbsp;slipped into the arms of Jesus on January 29, 2024, her mother’s birthday. She was born July 10, 1958 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Delores (Eskew) Fagen. She was a devoted Air Force wife, moving base to base with her husband, Jimmie. Carol was a cheerful bartender, then worked as a dental technician who specialized in children. She had friends from Schenectady to L.A.&nbsp; and to Guam.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Jimmie; siblings, Dale, Timmi, Terri and Dennis along with numerous friends.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 &nbsp;at Chuck’s Bar in Salina.

Lindsay Homeier, a radiant soul whose life was a symphony of love, laughter, and dance, left our world too soon, but her spirit and legacy continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her.

 Born on May 14, 1988, in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; Lindsay was the cherished daughter of Jim and Jaci Feil. From the very beginning, she captivated her father Jim's heart, forging a bond of love and mutual admiration that was truly special. Lindsay’s love for dance was evident at the age of Three.&nbsp; She would leap throughout the house and in the yard. We were always afraid she was going to hurt herself or break something.&nbsp; Her love of dance led us to enroll her in dance classes which she absolutely loved going to.&nbsp; As she entered middle school, she wanted to enroll in Jackie Creamer’s dance studio in Hays, so she could try out for the competition team, which she made.&nbsp; This love continued throughout high school as she was a member of the RHS dance team for all four years.

Lindsay’s love of dance was not only her passion, but the very essence of who she was.&nbsp; She touched many lives and created a beautiful dance family, who she loved dearly. After graduating from Russell High School in the Class of 2006, she honed her craft at the University of Kansas, where she earned a degree in Political Science with a Minor in Dance.&nbsp;&nbsp; While at KU, she took multiple dance classes in a variety of genres.

She wanted to learn everything she could so she could teach others.&nbsp; Realizing her dream let her to becoming the owner and operator of her own dance studio, Euphoria Dance Centre in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; Her love story with Bobby Homeier, whom she married on June 20, 2015, was a beautiful testament to partnership and shared dreams. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the playful antics of their beloved pets, Missi and Phoebie.

Throughout her life, Lindsay was a beacon of joy and inspiration, especially through her dance program and mentorship, where she empowered countless children to express themselves and embrace the transformative power of dance. Her infectious enthusiasm and genuine warmth turned every encounter into a memorable experience, enriching the lives of all who crossed her path.

Arthur L. Perry, 97, Tescott, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024.&nbsp; Art was born June 27, 1926, on a farm west of Tescott, the son of A.C. (Bink) and Sylvia (Reinking) Perry.

Except for a few years in the United States Navy during WWII and four years at the University of Kansas, Art was a lifetime resident of the Tescott area.&nbsp; Art dairy and grain farmed with his dad, taught school for a few years, and dealt antiques and Redwing stoneware.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dick; and sister-in-law, Barb.

Survivors are his sister, Lila Berkley of Salina; brother Dennis Perry of Mentor; sister-in-law, Doris Perry of Salina; nieces, Lila Jean Alexander of Houston, TX and Heather Perry of Mentor; and her children Orion and Olivia; nephew, John Perry of Tescott; and his children, Richae, Cole, Zach, Katie, and Johnna.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 9 at Culver Union Cemetery.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oaks Indian Mission, P.O. Box 130, Oaks, OK 74359 or to a charity of your choice.

Deborah Louise Cheswick, of Salina, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on February 3rd, 2024.&nbsp; Deborah was born on September 2nd, 1951 in Salina, Kansas to Richard and Deane Webb, deceased, and her loving siblings followed her in birth, Dennis Webb, of Wichita, Kansas, and Rebecca Mettlen, of Salina, Kansas&nbsp; Deborah graduated from Lindsborg High School, and Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas with a degree in education.&nbsp; Deborah lived in Salina, and Topeka, Kansas where she raised her children, and worked as an elementary school teacher.&nbsp;

Deborah was preceded in death by her husband Donald Cheswick, of Salina Kansas.&nbsp; Deborah is survived by her three daughters Sonia J. Krafels, and husband Jeffrey Krafels, of Manassas, Virginia, and granddaughters Hannah, Addison, and Sadie Krafels.&nbsp; Daughter, Susan R. Trafton, of Windsor, Colorado, and grandsons Slade Negus and Andrew Bruhl.&nbsp; Daughter, Maegan D. Joy, and husband Shawn Joy of Texhoma, Oklahoma, grandchildren Charlotte, and Cal Joy.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Deborah focused her life on raising her children and enjoying time with her seven grandchildren.&nbsp; She was a passionate Democrat, avid reader, skilled quilter, longtime Kansas Jayhawk&nbsp; fan, and had a remarkable green thumb.&nbsp; She loved cheering on the Kansas Jayhawk basketball team. &nbsp; The Golden Rule guided her life, as well as her personal and political philosophies.&nbsp; Her legacy of unconditional kindness and love for her daughters and grandchildren will be forever treasured and remembered.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A celebration of her life reception will be held at Great Plains Hall inside Tony’s Pizza Events Center on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 in Salina, Ks from 2 pm - 4 pm.&nbsp; Please join us for refreshments during this time.

Kenneth “Kenny” Frank Branda October 19, 1943 ~&nbsp;February 1, 2024

Kenneth “Kenny” Frank Branda, of&nbsp;rural Wilson, passed away on February 1, 2024, at HaysMedical&nbsp;Center in Hays, Kansas, at the age of 80. &nbsp;He was born on October 19,&nbsp;1943,&nbsp;to Bohumil“Shorty”&nbsp;and Edith (Mahoney) Branda in Ellsworth, Kansas.&nbsp;

Kenny graduated from Wilson High School in 1961&nbsp;and went on to&nbsp;attend Fort Hays State University.&nbsp;He chose a ski trip over his finals, which ended his higher education.&nbsp;He married Amy (Hoch)&nbsp;in front of a few close friends and family&nbsp;on June 3, 2005,&nbsp;in&nbsp;rural Wilson. &nbsp;

Kenny farmed his whole&nbsp;life,&nbsp;which began&nbsp;with his father. He started plumbing in 1963 before starting Kennys Construction,&nbsp;Inc&nbsp;in 1972.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kenny was in the construction business for 52 years.Kenny played in the dirt every opportunity he had, whether it was moving and setting up drilling rigs, digging basements,&nbsp;or&nbsp;building roads&nbsp;and&nbsp;terraces.&nbsp;He was a perfectionist in his work and didn’t quit&nbsp;until&nbsp;the work was just right.&nbsp;Kenny would&nbsp;also&nbsp;move snow&nbsp;in the winter&nbsp;from the&nbsp;high&nbsp;school&nbsp;parking lot, clear&nbsp;streets&nbsp;and driveways for those who he knew needed to go to doctors’ appointments,&nbsp;etc.&nbsp;&nbsp;

God did not give&nbsp;Kenny&nbsp;patience. He would paint&nbsp;something and&nbsp;have&nbsp;it&nbsp;assembled&nbsp;before&nbsp;the paint&nbsp;even&nbsp;dried.&nbsp;Which resulted in getting paint all over his hands and clothes.&nbsp;Before he was old enough to have a license, he rode his bike to town and traded it for his first car. Later in life Kenny and Amy purchased two&nbsp;jet&nbsp;skis. &nbsp;Kenny had to&nbsp;try&nbsp;them&nbsp;out on&nbsp;the&nbsp;pond before he could get them on the lake. &nbsp;He and the jet ski both ended up on the shore.

Kenny&nbsp;was a member of&nbsp;St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus (Former Grand Knight), Wilson High&nbsp;School Alumni Association (Coordinator),&nbsp;Sons of the American Legion,Former City Council Member,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Former Wilson Fire Department Chief.&nbsp;

Kenny is survived by his wife, Amy&nbsp;of&nbsp;rural Wilson;&nbsp;daughters, Joan Branda&nbsp;of&nbsp;Trenton, TX, Sharon (Mike) McConnell&nbsp;of&nbsp;South Haven, KS; bonus son,&nbsp;Martin (Courtney) Swart&nbsp;of&nbsp;Canton, KS;&nbsp;five&nbsp;grandchildren, Kristin (Josh) Weger, Jessica (Cody) Douglas, Kaitlin (Roger) Graham, Breanna (Seth)&nbsp;Stroman, James McConnell&nbsp;and his&nbsp;two&nbsp;bonus grandchildren, Kensington and Oliver&nbsp;Swart&nbsp;and&nbsp;ten great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents. &nbsp;

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February&nbsp;10, 2024, at 10:00&nbsp;AM&nbsp;at&nbsp;the funeral&nbsp;home in Wilson.&nbsp;Visitation&nbsp;will be on Friday, 6:00-8:00&nbsp;PM&nbsp;with a Rosary at 7:00&nbsp;PM&nbsp;at the funeral home. Scattering will take place&nbsp;at a later time&nbsp;in Rural Wilson.&nbsp;

Paul V. Muller, 75, Tescott, died Friday, February 2, 2023, at his home. He was born June 8, 1948, in Salina to Victor R. and Dorothy E. (Peterson) Muller.

Paul was a 1966 graduate of Minneapolis High School and he then graduated from Southwestern College with a bachelor’s degree. Paul worked at E&amp;F Floorcovering for several years but was also a lifetime farmer.

Survivors are his sisters, Gail Flint and Jean Welch; nieces and nephews, Melanie, Thomas, Timothy Paul, and Tiffany; and his dear friend and companion, Rita Bronson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 7 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 8 at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Museum and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Milborn Navarro Hurlbert November 5, 1930 ~&nbsp;February 3, 2024

Milborn Navarro Hurlbert was born November 5, 1930 the son of Bud and Lena Hurlburt in Waco Missouri. Milborn passed away at Stormont Vail Flint Hills Campus in Junction City, Kansas Saturday February 3, 2024.

Milborn had served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952. Most of his working carrer was spent with Fairbainks Morse as a Millwright. Milborn is survived by his Son Brad Hurlbert and his wife Debra and two grandchildren. Milborn was preceeded in death by his parents, his first wife Doris, his second wife Marel Joan Hurlbert, his sisters Armenta and Jean and brothers Leonard and Carl.

The family has chosen cremation and a memorial service will be held in the Kansas City area in the spring.

Marla Claassen Hoffman February 16, 1941 ~ February 2, 2024

Marla (Claassen) Hoffman was born February 16, 1941, in Newton, KS to Walter A. Claassen and Jane (Entz) Claassen. &nbsp;She joined her older brother Donovan. &nbsp;They enjoyed life on the family farm and the close relationship with Claassen cousins who lived nearby. &nbsp;Marla attended Plum Grove School, a one-room school for the first &amp; second grades. The next 2 ½ years her family lived in Uruguay, South America, where she was home schooled. &nbsp;Her father was a volunteer with Mennonite Central Committee, helping refugees establish farms. &nbsp;She learned German, the common language among the refugees while in Uruguay and through her lifetime she loved using German phrases in unexpected situations, especially when replying to a telemarketer on the phone. &nbsp;Returning to the U.S. at age nine, she completed elementary schooling at Plum Grove until it closed, then transferring to the new consolidated school, Countryside.

&nbsp;It was during these years that her mother taught Child Evangelism Classes in the local elementary schools. &nbsp;Marla never forgot the day at one of those classes that she saw her need to confess her sins and place her faith in Jesus Christ. &nbsp;

4-H was a big part of Marla’s childhood, although she would be quick to tell you that commanding control of a 1200-1300 lb. steer at a young age was much more her Dad’s idea than hers!

She received her high school education at Berean Academy and then decided to pursue the field of cosmetology, beginning schooling in Los Angeles, CA, and graduating from Vernon’s School of Cosmetology in Wichita, KS. &nbsp;Cosmetology was her lifelong profession, first in Wichita, KS and then in TX. &nbsp;She retired in 2011. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Marla was especially fond of her three nephews, Dean, James and Jeff and she loved pouring into their lives. &nbsp;She spoiled them and was their biggest cheerleader, eventually welcoming their wives and later their children in so many special “Aunt Marla” ways. &nbsp;

In April, 1969, she married the love of her life, Bill Hoffman. &nbsp;Bill was employed with Anderson Clayton so they moved to Euless, TX, where they resided until her death. &nbsp;They made many lifetime friends during their nearly 55 years of marriage. &nbsp;Bill &amp; Marla enjoyed traveling and dining out with friends. &nbsp;She loved helping people. &nbsp;If her friends or family members couldn’t locate something, eventually someone would comment, “Tell Marla, if it’s available, she’ll find it!” &nbsp;&nbsp;

Marla was rarely ill, so it came as a surprise when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November of 2022. &nbsp;During the ups and downs of chemo, she took treatment in stride.
