Noeline Carla Miller-Chestnut July 23, 1948 ~ April 22, 2024

Noeline Carla Miller-Chestnut, age 75, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on April 22, 2024, at home. She was born on July 23, 1948, in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of the late Katherine Lucille Brubaker (Buttermore) and Carl Coleman Miller.

Noeline was a hard working woman of strength and compassion, known for her kindness and generosity. She was a graduate of Salina High School, Class of 1965, and went on to work at several nursing homes as dietary cooks, then later at REMA Bakeware in the production department and finally at Russell-Stover Candy in Abilene before retiring.

Noeline fell in love with Chet Chestnut and married on June 25, 1988. They enjoyed almost 25 years of cherished married life together. Noeline was dedicated to taking care of her family and was an amazing wife, Mom and Grandma. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pinochle with family, working in her garden, and listening to audio books.

Noeline is survived by her loving daughter, Tina Zahn (Nathan) of Wichita, KS; stepdaughters Tracy Chestnut and Heather Chestnut, both of Omaha, NE; stepson Darryl Chestnut, of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by her grandchildren Natlie and Brandon Zahn, as well as step-grandchildren Dwayne Orth, Kit Chestnut, Christopher Driscoll, Tyler and Nicole Petri, Brittney Buckingham, Matthew, Wyatt and Audrey Chestnut and Teah Dunlop, and 12 step-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Anita Morris (Kevin), of Salina, and brother David Miller of Evansville, IN and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Noeline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester L. Chestnut, on March 17, 2013, an infant son Daniel, as well as her brother, Carl Coleman Miler II, and sister, Karen Sneary. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Noeline's life will be held on May 4, 2024, at First Church of the Nazarene on South Ohio Street in Salina, KS. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering Noeline and offering their final farewells. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice in memory of Noeline are greatly appreciated.

Noeline will be deeply missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Leon was born on December 10, 1944 in Hays, KS to parents Irvin Anthony and Ludwina Rose Schaffer Haselhorst.

He was preceded in death by Ludwina Haselhorst (Mother), Roberta Schuckman (Sister), Glen Hatfield (Brother-in-Law), Duane Haselhorst (Brother).

Mary Hassig Collins October 13, 1949 ~ April 22, 2024

Mary Hassig Collins&nbsp;passed away peacefully at home in Salina on the morning of April 22, 2024 after a brief illness. She was 74 years old.

Mary was born on October 13, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama. As a child, she readily made friends wherever our military family fetched up, from Maine to Mississippi and even Germany.

During her teens, our family was living in Kansas City, where she graduated from Wyandotte High School. Matriculating first at Wichita State College, she transferred her sophomore year to Kansas State College. There she majored in music, becoming an accomplished flutist. Although she loved the flute and played with local orchestras, she declined to follow her musical muse.

Instead, she pursued a business career largely in advertising sales at newspapers in Kansas City and St. Louis. There she fell in love with and married Ed Gerner, an executive with AAA. They moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where Mary went to work for the telephone company Bell South. Ed passed away in 1997.

A decade or so later, she wed Tim Collins, an Englishman, whom she met while vacationing in Italy. After living in Italy for a few years, they moved to in Charlotte for a number of years, then relocated to Cornwall, England. There, she began to express her artistic self in the medium of fused glass.

The couple returned to the U.S. in 2021, settling in Minneapolis, Kansas, where they lived until Tim’s death just three months later. To be closer to her sister, Mary then moved to Salina, where she soon cultivated a devoted circle of friends. She worked part time at Rogue and B&amp;K Prescription Shop delivering medications.

Mary leaves behind an older brother Lee Hassig, his wife Gerry, and an older sister Margaret Yarnevich, and her husband George—as well as Kay Yarnevich Smith, Steven Yarnevich, and Owen Hassig, her niece and nephews. We remember her for her warmth, incisive wit, and droll sense of humor. We all deeply mourn her passing and will greatly miss her uplifting presence in our lives.

Memorial service will be 2 pm Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church, 138 N. 8th St., Salina.

With heavy hearts, his family announces that Robert L. “Robbie” Valenza passed away suddenly on April 22, 2024, at the young age of 70.&nbsp; He was born and raised in Houston, TX, and attended the University of Houston.&nbsp; Robbie married Lisa Rosenblath in April 1976, and they had three beautiful children.&nbsp; He worked in many positions and with many wonderful people during his 40-year career at Kroger, most recently in Logistics and Risk Management.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Robbie met Angie, the love of his life, at a PTA meeting, and they married in 1995.&nbsp; He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and, as his loved ones know well, Robbie was an avid sports fanatic.&nbsp; Go Broncos, Avs, Chiefs, yada, yada, yada.&nbsp; Above all else, Robbie loved God and his church . . . and smoking any nearly expired meat.

Robbie was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth “Betsy” and Joseph “Joe” Valenza and his father-in-law, Jim.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife, Angela; his children, Melissa, Bethany (Travis), and Brandon; his grandchildren Kierra, Bailey, Mylee, Jaiden, Jonah, Caleb, Madilyn, Noble, Zayne, and Adeya; his great grandchild, Nicolas; his mother-in-law, Janet, his siblings, Christine, Joseph (Mike), John, and Paul; and many old and new precious friends.&nbsp;

Cheryl Brandsted, age 76, of Osage Beach, Missouri and McPherson, Kansas passed peacefully away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Stonebridge Senior Living, Osage Beach, Missouri.

She was born on July 9, 1947, in McPherson, Kansas; daughter of Theodore Tobias and Evelyn Jenny (Moulds) Becker.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School in 1965 and attended McPherson College and Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to John Brandsted on July 14, 1968.

Cheryl enjoyed reading, gardening, drawing, antiquing, and working with her friends at Best Western and NCRA. When her children were young, she volunteered as room mother at their school, in Camp Fire Girls, and supported them through years of swim team. She was active in Grace Bible and New Gottland Covenant Church, as well as in P.E.O.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In her youth, she loved to ride her horses and take care of animals of all kinds. She loved to talk to people, preferably with a coffee in hand. She was known as the neighborhood mom to many. Her most precious thing in life was her family. She was a cat lover at heart, especially her beloved Larry.&nbsp; Cheryl will be missed by every person she touched.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, John Brandsted; her children Rebecca Brandsted and husband Nathan Cowan, Erick Brandsted and wife Cheryl K Brandsted; her grandchildren Jacob and Lillian Cowan, and Nina and Vera Brandsted; her brother Mike Becker (Anita), and Mitchell Becker (Susan), and her nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.&nbsp;

Cheryl was preceded by her parents Theodore (Ted) and Evelyn Becker; and her brother Marlin (Mutt) Becker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut Street, McPherson, Kansas on Saturday May 18th&nbsp;at 10 am. Cemetery service will follow for immediate family only.&nbsp;

Cheryl Brandsted

Mr. Anthony J. Holt passed away on April 18th in his Salina home–he was 66 years old. Anthony was born in Salina in 1958 to the parents of Rachel Holt Fikes and Willie J. Holt (deceased).

Anthony leaves behind his children Sydney Holt and Andrew Holt, sisters Dianna Graham, Lisa Graham and Stephanie Holt Burse (husband Harvey), brothers Alfred Carroll (wife Patricia Ann) and Kirk Holt (wife Patricia Givand), his Aunt Arlena Prim, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anthony never sought the limelight and was a relatively private person. Anthony served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1978 as an Infantryman. He worked in several capacities as a construction worker and truck driver over his career. Anthony’s passion was cooking which was his true love language! He loved to showcase his mastery of the grill, roaster and deep-fryer!

The family is planning a memorial service to celebrate Anthony’s life! The service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at St. Johns’ Missionary Baptist Church, 215 South Chicago Street, Salina KS and will be a celebration of life! We invite all family and friends to join us in this celebration!

The family have been so touched with the outpouring of love and support during this time of need. Anthony’s passing has been difficult, particularly any time a mother has to put a child to rest.

He loved to showcase his mastery of the grill, roaster and deep-fryer!The family is planning a memorial service to celebrate Anthony’s life! The service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at St. Johns’ Missionary Baptist Church, 215 South Chicago Street, Salina KS and will be a celebration of life! We invite all family and friends to join us in this celebration!The family have been so touched with the outpouring of love and support during this time of need. Marcia “Janet” Cochran, 91, formerly of Greensburg and South Hutchinson, Kansas died Sunday, April 21, 2024 in Garnett, Kansas.

She was born November 13, 1932 in Ulysses, Kansas the daughter of C.R. and Velma (Imhoff) Snodgrass.

On November 24, 1950, Janet was united in marriage to Johnny Lee Cochran in Dodge City, Kansas.&nbsp; They shared 57 years of loving marriage until his passing on August 6, 2008.

Janet was the bookkeeper for Cochran Oil Company, which she and Johnny owned and operated in Greensburg, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.R. and Velma Snodgrass; her husband, Johnny Cochran; and her brother, R.G. Snodgrass.

She is survived by two daughters, Cary Jones of Coldwater, KS and Stacy (Albert) Imel of Princeton, KS; two granddaughters, Ashli (Jamie) Miller of Longmont, CO and Tenley Wallace of Gregory, TX; and three great-grandchildren, Tagen, Sadie, and Johnny.

The family will gather in remembrance at a later date.

Norma Ruth Droege October 6, 1932 ~ April 17, 2024

Norma Ruth Droege, 91, of Topeka, KS passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Legend at Capital Ridge in Topeka, KS.&nbsp; She was born on October 6, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX the daughter of Roy and Mae (Madera) Calcote.&nbsp; She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1949.&nbsp;

Norma married John W. “Jack” Droege on October 3, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV.&nbsp; They lived in Scranton, KS until John’s passing on September 24, 2019.&nbsp;

Norma worked various jobs over her lifetime, including clerical work, owning a Radio Shack, and a toll booth operator for the Kansas Turnpike.&nbsp; Her life was filled with her home and family.&nbsp; She was a great cook and her children and grandchildren all had their own special favorite meals.&nbsp; Her cookie jar was never empty.&nbsp; Norma was always working a jigsaw puzzle and would love to challenge anyone to a game of Scrabble, which she usually won.

Mrs. Droege was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John.&nbsp;

Surviving family includes her four children, son, Dave (Susie) Murray of Plano, TX, daughter, Terry (Norman) Pack of Yulee, FL, Don (Dawn) Hand of Kansas City, MO and Larry Hand of Topeka, KS; two step-sons, Brian (Christi) Droege of Burlingame, KS and Chad (Melissa) Droege of Burlingame, KS;&nbsp; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

&nbsp;Gregory "Greg" D. Hood July 3, 1946 ~ April 20, 2024

Gregory "Greg" D. Hood, age 77, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home in Concordia, KS surrounded by family.&nbsp; He was born on July 3, 1946 in Concordia, KS to Rolland &amp; Lolita (Miller) Hood.

Greg attended Concordia schools until age 11. His family then moved to Italy in 1957 to assist in bringing supermarkets to Europe. Greg attended the Laysin American School in Switzerland and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.&nbsp;&nbsp;Greg served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971.&nbsp;&nbsp;He attended the Eastern European Language Program in Syracuse University in New York. He then attended the USA Security Service training at Goodfella Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. He was assigned to the 6912th&nbsp;Security Squadron at Templehol AFB in West Berlin, Germany as a Russian voice interpreter operator. The military required them to travel under the radar in civilian clothes to Germany.&nbsp;&nbsp;After his service in the military Greg moved back to Concordia. In 1973 Greg married Sally Alderson. They were parents to Shawn, Chandra, and Garett.&nbsp;

Greg was a lifelong general contractor, working for his uncle Woodrow Hood/Hood Construction as Vice President then eventually owner. He finished his career out with Coonrod &amp; Associates.&nbsp;&nbsp;Among the various local projects, he was involved with were, the First United Methodist Church, UMB Bank, the Frank Carlson Library, Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Super 8 Motel and the Parish Hall for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church to name just a few.

He was active in the Jayhusker Racing Assoc. and USAC Midget Racing.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a member of American Legion Post #76, Moose Lodge #1428 &amp; VFW Post #588.

Greg had a love for motorsports. He followed in his father’s footsteps taking up racing which led to years of running a ¾ midget and eventually owning a USAC midget team. Greg and Jon Thurston designed and built the 750 ¾ midget that he won multiple features along with forming “Two Hoods Racing”. He always dreamt about running the Belleville Midgets Nationals.&nbsp;&nbsp;Unfortunately, he didn’t accomplish that, but did with his son along with racing in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Oklahoma, Arizona, Wisconsin, etc.

He is survived by his children, Shawn Hood, Concordia, KS; Chandra Hood, Gisborne, New Zealand &amp; Garett Hood (Stephanie), Concordia, KS; grandchildren, Bryce Young, Cameron Young &amp; Beck Hood; great grandson, Jhett Young; several cousins, and a host of other family and friends.

It was Greg’s wishes to be cremated and a service celebrating his life will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 10, 2024, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.&nbsp;&nbsp;Military honors will be conducted at the services by McConnell AFB, American Legion Post #76 &amp; VFW Post #588.&nbsp;&nbsp;Following the services, family and friends will gather at the American Legion Post #76 in Concordia. The family welcomes flowers or memorials to the American Legion Post #76 in care of the funeral home. Melva Christina Achterberg passed away on April 21, 2024 in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 97. &nbsp;She was born in Lincoln, Kansas, November14, 1926 to Frank and Hilda Behrens. &nbsp;She was the oldest of 5 children.

On April 20, 1947 she married Loyl Achterberg. &nbsp;Their children are Marvin (Wheat Ridge, CO), Duane (Hays, Kansas) and Donna (Salina, KS). &nbsp;

As a young girl Melva worked for several families as needed as a home helper. &nbsp;She was a homemaker who was known for her wonderful baking and cooking, large gardens, and helping with whatever needed to be done on the farm. &nbsp;In addition Melva is remembered by her children as dependable, hardworking, giving, loving, and totally invested in her family.

She is survived by her children Marvin (Patricia), Duane (Linda), and Donna as well as granddaughter Miranda (Josh) Eskue, step grandson Brian (Annette) Sapp, and great grandchildren Jordyn Eskue and Isaac Eskue along with many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Hilda Behrens, her siblings Delbert Behrens, Virgil Behrens, Elmer Behrens, and Norma Kastrup, and grandson Darren Achterberg. &nbsp;

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1:30 PM in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Lincoln, KS. &nbsp;Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, Kansas.

Nancy Lou (Foth) Greene January 8, 1949 ~ April 18, 2024

Nancy Lou Greene of Salina passed away on April 18, 2024.

She was born in Hillsboro, on January 8, 1949, to Walter and Dorothy (Hamm) Foth.

Nancy was first married to Wally Bledsoe, and together they had 3 children, Lisa, Pamela, and a baby boy, Jeffrey, who died shortly after birth. She was then married to Floyd Luther.

Nancy loved to visit casinos and play slot machines; she once won a trip to Vegas and that’s where she and Dennis Greene were wed. Dennis sadly passed away in 2023 after a battle with dementia.&nbsp;

Nancy was a fun, bright go-getter and a devoted caretaker. Nancy loved dogs and her three, Lola, Bella, and Heidi Jo were her babies.

Before her death, Nancy worked for Durham Bus Service as a bus monitor, and absolutely loved her job. She formed close bonds with the children who rode the bus and her fellow coworkers. Nancy's family is grateful for how her Durham Bus family supported her during the last few years.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Pamela Lindquist, and Lisa Zagami, her brothers, Lowell, and Keith (Jacquelyn) Foth, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Karen Sharp and Chris Ducharme.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., May 4th, at the Bennington Cemetery, 824 N Nelson St, Bennington, KS 67422. Memorials can be made to the family, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St., Salina, KS 67401.

Richard William Burnett July 1, 1943 ~ April 20, 2024

Richard William Burnett, 80, of Salina, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Richard was born in Passaic, NJ on July 1, 1943 to William P. Burnett and Catherine E. Burnett (Bistritz). After graduating from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ, Richard attended Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1965. Soon after, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He returned to the U.S., honorably discharged, and began a 52-year career in social work. While working for the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services in New York, NY, Richard received his Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 1972.

Richard left the East Coast for landlocked Salina, KS in 1975 after accepting the role of Vice President of Clinical Services at St. Francis Academy. He worked at St. Francis for nearly twenty years. While at St. Francis, Richard met and fell in love with the farmer’s daughter of his dreams, Donna Cooprider. Richard was now permanently a Kansan.

Richard and Donna were married on September 15, 1984, at Christ Cathedral in Salina surrounded by friends and family from near and far. Together they raised two children, Deidre Elizabeth Knight (Burnett) and Payson Cooprider Burnett.

The positive impact Richard imparted on the lives of many can be felt through the communities he served as a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker in Salina and Junction City, KS. Richard and Donna opened Family Care Center of Junction City in 1993 while Richard continued to serve clients in Salina at Veridian Behavioral Health Services (formerly Counseling and Growth). Richard never retired from Family Care Center as he never felt his work was “work” a day in his life.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, oldest brother William and sister-in-law Marge. Richard is survived by his wife Donna, brother Robert (fiance Betty) of Lyndhurst, NJ, sister-in-law Blanca of St. Pete Beach, FL, daughter Deidre Knight (Jesse) of Council Grove, KS, and Payson Burnett (Morgan) of Virginia Beach, VA.

A memorial service for Richard will be held Friday, April 26 at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, KS at 11 AM. Lunch will follow at Salina Country Club. Soon after, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He returned to the U.S., honorably discharged, and began a 52-year career in social work. While working for the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services in New York, NY, Richard received his Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 1972.Richard left the East Coast for landlocked Salina, KS in 1975 after accepting the role of Vice President of Clinical Services at St. Francis Academy. He worked at St. Francis for nearly twenty years. While at St. Francis, Richard met and fell in love with the farmer’s daughter of his dreams, Donna Cooprider. Janice Lynn Smith, 71, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was born on October 6, 1952, at Camp Atterbury, Ind., to Richard and Eunice (Pitts) McKivergan.

Survivors include her sons, Chris Teschke (Kristin), Rob Teschke (Chrystie), Charley Smith, and Sam Smith (Shannon); grandchildren, Cooper Teschke (Alexcis), Maddie Bowles (Keenan), Abigail Teschke, Calahan Smith, Arianna Richard, and Aubrey Richard; brothers, John McKivergan, Delane Lampe; and sister, Tavanna Pesicka.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Eunice and “Bud” Lampe; husband, Curtis Smith; and brother, Marty Lampe.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at the United Presbyterian Church, 303 West Best St, Jetmore, Kan., with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.

Nancy McDermott, 66 passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 in Lakewood, Colorado.

Nancy was born July 12, 1957 to Robert and Marjorie (Devine) McDermott in Huron, South Dakota. &nbsp;The family moved to Salina, Kansas in 1963. &nbsp;

Nancy attended Sacred Heart High School, graduating in 1975. &nbsp;She then attended Marymount College in Salina and Dodge City Community College where she earned her nursing degree. &nbsp;Nancy was a registered nurse for 38 years. &nbsp;She began her career at Asbury Hospital in Salina. &nbsp;Nancy moved to Colorado in 1989 and worked as a surgical nurse for over 30 years at Lutheran Medical Center in Denver. &nbsp;

Nancy retired in July 2022. &nbsp;She loved hiking and was a member of the Colorado Mountain Club. &nbsp;Her love of travel was highlighted by memorable trips to Egypt and Ireland.&nbsp;

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents. &nbsp;She is survived by three sisters, Patty McDermott, Jean Chavez (Rosendo) and Teresa Bellerive (Brian) all of Salina, Kansas. Nancy is also survived by three nephews, Matthew, Alex and Jacob Bellerive all of Salina and niece &nbsp;Lorena Chavez of Los Angeles, California. &nbsp;

Catholic Funeral &amp; Cemetery Services, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado is handling arrangements.

A private burial will be held in Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;

Leroy A. Adwell October 9, 1932 ~&nbsp;April 22, 2024

Leroy A. Adwell, 91, of Lindsborg, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg.

Leroy was born on October 9, 1932, in rural Ravenwood, MO, the son of Jacob and Dortha (O’Bannon) Adwell.&nbsp; Part of his childhood was in Idaho and then in Oregon where they lived on Roger’s mountain before moving to Portland, Oregon.&nbsp; Moved back to Missouri in 1945, he graduated from high school in Ravenwood, MO.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, with the rank of Platoon Sergeant serving at the end of the Korean War from 1953 to 1955, being part of the Float Bridge Company, placing temporary bridges where permanent bridges had been destroyed in battle.

Leroy moved to Kansas in 1955 and worked for Skelgas, an underground storage facility in Conway.&nbsp; Later it became Texaco, where he worked for 35 years until taking early retirement in 1990.

He was united in marriage on September 8, 1956, to Murla D. Becker at the Presbyterian Chapel in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; To their union were born four children: Patty, Roger, Laura, and Douglas.

Leroy and Murla’s first purchased home in Conway was a story and a half house that they transformed into a ranch style house.&nbsp; He could never just sit and do nothing, was always building something, whether it was a play house, merry-go-round, or a go-cart for us kids.&nbsp; He’d go fishing whenever he got the chance. Then, they decided to move to the country, and they built that house.&nbsp; He decided to get into the hog business.&nbsp; What started out with a few sows, turned into a lot more.

After a time later, he gave up the hogs and changed to buying Holstein calves in Wisconsin where they were bottle fed and then raised up to 300 to 400 lbs before being sold&nbsp; In 1984, they sold the farm and moved to Lindsborg, where again they remodeled a 2 ½ story house.&nbsp; Dad enjoyed keeping busy building furniture and crafts that they sold at craft shows.&nbsp; Also, he loved being with family, gardening, raising pigeons, doves, and chickens.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gary Adwell, and sister, Mary Lou Sledge.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Mural Adwell of Lindsborg, KS; four children, Patty Turnquist (Bryce) of Lindsborg, KS, Roger Adwell (Melody) of Chanute, KS, Laura Johannsen (Richard) of Lindsborg, KS, and Douglas Adwell (Linda) of Valley Center, KS; a sister, Shirley Coffelt of Maryville, MO; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.&nbsp; The final resting place will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Mary Jane Belt, 84, of Salina, KS passed away April 20,2024. She was born in Salina on July 22, 1939 to Ralph and Mary Loader and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957 and attended Marymount College. She married Jerry Belt on September 1, 1958. Jane was a homemaker while raising her family and later worked for CB Announcements until her retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed flower gardening, and traveling. She played bridge in several local bridge groups and attended many tournaments including American Contract Bridge; which she attained Life Master and later on Silver Life Master. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Don Loader of Salina, KS. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry, her daughter Kathy of Salina, sons Dan (Pat) of Lakewood, CO and Tom (Angie) of Morrison, CO. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Sarah Guild (Kyle), Chad Belt (Kelcey), Amanda Mikel (Dylan) and Eric Belt (Taylor). She also has eight great- grandchildren: Brayden and Tinley Guild, Brooks and Ayla Belt, Fiona and Christian Mikel, and Asher and Joey Belt. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Loader, nephews Jim Loader (Michael), Jon Loader and a very special cousin and angel, Betty Yockers.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4-7:30 pm with rosary at 6pm at Ryan Mortuary.

Reita Pauline Brandt, 93, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born August 5, 1930, on a farm north of Republic, KS, to Archie and Nina (Fisher) Morehead. &nbsp;She received her education from Belleville High School.&nbsp;

Reita married Harold K. Brandt on December 5, 1946, in Belleville, KS later making a home in Salina, KS, She worked ten years for S.S.&nbsp;Kresge&nbsp;and was a nurse’s&nbsp;aid&nbsp;at Asbury Hospital for twenty-two years retiring in 1996. Reita later made moves to Newton, KS in 2002 and then to Phoenix, AZ in 2016.

Reita was preceded in death by her son Gearold Brandt, husband Harold Brandt, daughter Gloria Clifford, daughter Barbara Bunce, and several brothers and sisters.

Reita is survived by her son Troy Brandt (Lynne) of Peoria, AZ,&nbsp;granddaughter Aubrey Philip (Joel) of Grand Rapids, IA, grandson Landon Brandt of Hesston, KS, grandson Dalton Brandt of Wichita, KS, granddaughter Tracy Bunce of Salina, KS,&nbsp;Tamme Halpain (Melanie)<a></a>&nbsp;of NM,&nbsp;grandson Geary Clifford (Heather) of Lindsborg, KS and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Arthur Andrew Hoch passed away March 27, 2024, at McPherson Hospital.&nbsp; He was born January 19, 1942, near Dwight, Kansas to Harry and Opal Engstrom Hoch.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Art graduated from Dwight High School in 1959 as valedictorian.&nbsp; He graduated cum laude from McPherson College in 1963 with Education and Sociology majors.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

On April 13, 1963, he married Karen Crain in Waka, Texas.&nbsp; He taught and coached at Buhler Elementary.&nbsp; Art graduated in 1966 from Emporia State with a masters in Elementary Administration.

He was Principal at Ashland, (where Mike was born) and Burlington elementary schools.&nbsp; Art, Karen and Mike moved back to McPherson in 1970 (where Scott was born).&nbsp; He sold insurance until he was asked to return to teaching.&nbsp; He taught 5th&nbsp;graders at Park and Roosevelt schools until 1992.

After 28 years in education, Art worked at The Cedars as Administrator for Independent Living, in charge of the (old) Cedars Towers and Cedars Village and helped new residents plan their homes in the Village, until his 2004 retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors are Karen; Mike, (Melanie), and Isabella; Scott, (Shanna), and Skylar (Gretchen), Foster, and Thatcher; Sisters-in-law Shirley Hoch and Patsy Hoch; Sister-in-law Mary Stephenson (Terry).&nbsp; He was predeceased by parents, and brothers Lowell, Don, and Willis.

Visitation is Friday,&nbsp;May 10, at Church of the Brethren, 5-7 pm. A Memorial Service for Art will be on Saturday,&nbsp;May 11, at 1:00 pm at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Brethren Video and TV Ministry or The Cedars Resident Assistance Fund in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.&nbsp;

Craig&nbsp;H.&nbsp;Cook, age 71, entered into rest on Monday, April 15,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;at his home in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on December 2, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Henry and Alice (Esson) Cook.

Craig graduated from&nbsp;high school&nbsp;in 1973 in Toronto Canada. &nbsp;He received his criminal justice degree from college in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.

He was&nbsp;a member of the Fellowship&nbsp;Christian Church in Concordia.&nbsp;He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Canada.

Craig&nbsp;worked for the&nbsp;Providence of Ontario&nbsp;Canada prison system as a prison guard for 27&nbsp;years and&nbsp;retired&nbsp;in 2005.

He enjoyed&nbsp;gambling, playing the slots, music, singing, whistling, playing the&nbsp;guitar, and piano.&nbsp;Most of all&nbsp;Craig&nbsp;loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Survivors include his&nbsp;wife&nbsp;Peggy Ballinger&nbsp;of the home, son, Mike Cook, son,&nbsp;Daniel Cook,son,&nbsp;John Ballinger and&nbsp;a&nbsp;daughter, Jesicca&nbsp;Leapaldt&nbsp;and&nbsp;their&nbsp;seven&nbsp;wonderful grandchildren.

He was preceded in&nbsp;death&nbsp;by&nbsp;his parents,&nbsp;and one brother.

Craig’s&nbsp;wishes were to be cremated and&nbsp;a memorial service will be held&nbsp;1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 25,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;at the Fellowship Christian Church in Concordia, Kansas&nbsp;with Pastor Dwight&nbsp;Whitead&nbsp;officiating.
