
William Edward Vaupel, 98, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was born on January 11, 1927, to William H. and Stella M. (Yockers) Vaupel, in Salina. Bill attended Solomon High School and joined the United State Naval Corp before graduating. After the military he joined the Salina Fire Department where he retired as a Platoon Chief after 31 years of service.
He enjoyed camping with friends, was a member of the Good Sam RV & Travel Club, was an outdoor sportsman, and loved wintering in Arizona in his RV with his wife Ellen. He was a devoted husband and father to his surviving sons: William Vaupel Jr., Gary Vaupel (Tamra), and Ronald Vaupel (Suzanne); with six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen; and brother Don Vaupel. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, March 7, at Ryan Mortuary, with family present from 4:30-6 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina, with burial following at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina.
