Teresa Fay Mills of Marion, KS passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 after fighting 15 days from a massive brain bleed.

Teresa was born by Thurman and Louise Smith in Garden City, KS on March 19, 1953.

Throughout her life, Teresa grew up in Arizona, moved to Washington as a retired LPN and then moved to Marion, KS to be closer to family in 2018.

Teresa’s vivacious personality drew her to many enjoyments in life that included nature, hunting, her yorkie dogs, Billy and Bella, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Teresa was always known as the life of the party and found her calling as the Director of the Marion Historical Museum. Teresa would create craft workshops and history scavenger hunts for the children who would stop by the museum. She was honored to be welcomed into the Marion community and has left a footprint for those who miss her.

Go rest in peace, be free and see on you the other side of the rainbow.

Carol Lynette Friesen was born to Claude and Inez (Barham) Runyan in Almena, Kansas on January 21, 1933. 

Carol was raised in the Almena community and was a graduate of Almena High School. 

She married Noble Friesen on November 14, 1954.&nbsp; 

Carol worked as a teller at First National Bank in Dodge City. 

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dodge City where she organized church gatherings and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center. 

Carol enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Jenkins, Donna Delasaga and Colleen Ross-Carpenter; brother, Meredith Runyan.

Dr. Richard D. Bergen, the Kansas artist whose iconic bronze sculpture Ad Astra graces the capitol building in Topeka, died Wednesday, April 22, 2020, in Salina. He was 95.

Bergen and son Rich partnered for over 35 years in the Bergen's Sculpture Studio, a north Santa Fe Avenue gallery and work space, where together they crafted more than 40 monumental bronze sculptures and other works of public art found in cities across Kansas.

Named Distinguished Kansan of the Year in 2006, Bergen was a lifelong advocate for the arts and education, who came to Kansas on the GI bill to study art at Bethany College after service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He ultimately earned degrees from three Kansas institutions of higher education and inspired hundreds of his own students to embrace the creative arts.

Bergen made Salina his home for nearly 65 years. As director of art education in the Salina public schools during the late 1950s through 1960s, he taught every child in Salina's kindergarten through sixth grade classes through his monthly visits to each of the city's then 16 elementary schools.

Bergen became a professor of art and chair of the Art Department at Marymount College in 1967, and studied in the summers to earn a doctorate in art education from the University of Kansas in 1973. His first monumental bronze, Trifinity, was completed during that time. With three intertwining figures, representing the past, present and future of Salina, it stands between the city's library and court house and was dedicated in January 1975.

Trifinity was the first of many sculptures he crafted and installed across Kansas, including the Pony Express Rider in Marysville, Heritage Woman in Wichita Heritage Square, the Buffalo Soldier in Junction City, and most recently, the Terrible Swede on the Bethany College campus in Lindsborg.

With a master's degree in art from Kansas State University earned in 1963, many of his works are found in Manhattan. They include the crouching Wildcat ready to pounce at the K-State Alumni Center, Holy Family at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Ernie Barrett with hand outstretched at Bramlage Coliseum, and busts of Martin Luther King, Jr., and Marianna Kistler Beach at the K-State art museum named for her.

Bergen was also an enthusiastic community and civic leader. He was a founding member of the Salina AMBUCS club, a member of the Masonic Temple, and elected to a term on the Salina School Board in 1973 and served as president. He was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and the Salina War Memorial Committee, which raised funds to honor Salina's veterans with a plaza in Sunset Park. His sculpture of an eagle with wings spread wide is atop the memorial.

Born January 7, 1925, in Palm Beach, Fla., to Gilbert and Fern (Tyner) Bergen, he grew up in Elizabeth, N.J., where he attended high school. Bergen enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served as a machinist in the South Pacific. Encouraged to study art after the war, Bergen attended the Newark School of Fine Art in 1946, then moved to Kansas to enroll at Bethany College in Lindsborg to study with noted artists Birger Sandzen and Charles Rogers.

Bergen graduated from Bethany in 1953 with a BFA in art. He met his wife, Marquette native Lou Ann (Lindstrom, in his very first class at Bethany, which sealed his fate to be a Kansan. The two were married on June 3, 1953, and were together for 65 years, until she preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 2018.

Bergen is survived by his daughter Lori Bergen (Charles Mangano) of Boulder, Colo., son Rich Bergen (Lynda Buehre) of Salina, grandchildren John Bergen Kamerer of Wichita, Anna Bergen Kamerer of New York, N.Y.

Steven Louis Balthazor was born on December 8, 1948 in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Everett R. and Virginia M. (Sims) Balthazor. He died Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 71.

Following his high school graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps, and later attended college for a couple of years. He was extremely proud of his service, and always could be seen wearing Marines clothing and talking about his days in the Corps.

Steven served as a sheriff’s deputy, and later worked for over 20 years for Sunflower Manufacturing in Beloit. He also served as a cook for the Beloit VFW Post #6242, and worked for many years at Casey’s in Beloit.

In his spare time, he loved going to the shooting range, fishing, and listening to oldies music. He was also a very good cook, and could always be counted on to bring the Balthazor French Dumpling recipe to every family gathering.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, and his special dog, Foo.

He is survived by his children, Steven Balthazor Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Carrie Sims of Indianapolis, Michelle Stegman and husband Jermiah of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Shawna Aschenbrenner and husband Ronnie of WaKeeney; sisters, Sonia Seehafer of Beloit and Gayle Halfhide and husband Randy of Hunter; brothers, Ron and wife Susan of Kansas City, Missouri and Gary and wife Marlyn of Wichita; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Anita Madrigal Thomas, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 27, 1944 in Council Grove, to Louis O. and Carmen (Juarez) Madrigal. She is survived by her 3 siblings, Lupe, Louise and John.

She was a 1962 graduate of Council Grove High School. She graduated from Wichita Business College in 1963. She worked at various locations in Council Grove including Kansas Instruments and Axe Equipment. She retired in 2008.

If you lived in Council Grove you knew Anita, she volunteered at St. Rose Catholic Church, CG Thrift Store and was the founder of Teen Graffiti which started the After Prom Party in 1989. She served for 15 years on Council Grove City Council. She was president of St Rose Altar Society, taught catechism and was a member of Flint Hills Kiwanis. She volunteered with Relay for Life, Washunga Days and many other local events.

Anita was a 5-time cancer survivor and served as unofficial support network for dozens of local women in Morris County from the 1970’s until she left this world. She shared her kind spirit and fierce attitude with many other survivors.

Anita was a strong advocate for Hispanics in Morris County for decades. She was raised by first generation immigrants and was passionate about helping others. From working as an impromptu translator with the Sheriff’s Department to ensuring Hispanic families were treated fairly and had opportunities to succeed, she was always there to lend a hand.

If you asked Anita, her true joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, Alvin “Bud” Thomas, married for 50 years. She was born to be a mother. She is survived by her two children and their families Stephanie and Matt Holloway as well as Chris Thomas and his fiancé’ Hanna Gorham. The next chapter and loves of her life were her grandchildren, Joshua Holloway, Sophia Holloway, Fallon Goedeke and Alvin Thomas. Her eyes sparkled when she talked of her kids and grandkids.

She lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with her family, her strong faith and the joy of helping others. Anita had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

Mary Janet (Chaput) Brumfield, 70, of Clay Center, KS went home to be with her Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, with her family by her side.

Mary Janet was born May 15, 1949 in Concordia, KS to Alex A. and Louise J (Odette) Chaput. She graduated from Notre Dame High school in Concordia with the class of 1967. She graduated from cosmetology school in Salina, KS the following year.

She married Rick Brumfield on September 21, 1968, in Concordia, KS. To this union were born three children. Daughter Nicolé (Matt) Dorman of Abilene, KS, son Allen (Lori) Brumfield, Clay Center, KS and daughter Sarah (Barry) Fentiman of Olathe, KS.

She has 11 grandchildren. Taylor A. Lawson, Wichita KS, Brittney (Nicholas) Mckenzie, Garden City, KS, Mia Lawson, Dalton Brumfield, Morgan Brumfield and Jarrin Brumfield, Clay Center, KS, Bailen (Lauren) Brumfield, South Korea, Madison Fentiman, Maryville, MO, Jillian Underwood, Abilene, KS, Hunter and Dylan Fentiman, Olathe, KS. She was looking forward to meeting their first great grandchild, a baby girl, to be born in July 2020.

Mary Ann Norton, 83, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020 in Abilene. She was born June 4, 1936 in Gaylord, Kansas, the daughter of Frank W. and Sophia (Lehmann) Wittke. 

Growing up in Gaylord, she attended local schools and graduated from Gaylord High School with the class of 1954. 

On September 15, 1954 Mary Ann was married to Bobby L. Norton in Gaylord. Most of their married life was spent in Enterprise, Kansas. He preceded her in death March 5, 1978. 

She had been employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation as a Driver's License Examiner. 

Mary Ann was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and spending time with family. 

She was also preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Andrea B. (Russ)Wilkins; two sisters, Elvera Detwiler and Betty McCammon; and a brother, Percy Wittke. 

Mary Ann is survived by: two sons, David (Jill) Norton of Topeka and James (Amy) Norton of Salina; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann had chosen cremation. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or Enterprise United Methodist Church . Wanda Marie Wash, 87, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:28 p.m., Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 while in the company of family members at Pine Village, Moundridge.

Wanda was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on September 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Hazel Marie (Smith) and Jasper William Rounds.

Wanda attended the Roosevelt grade school, McPherson Junior High and McPherson High School, but finished her final two years of high school at Central College, graduating in a class of 12 in 1950.

She was a member of First Christian Church McPherson, and was a former member of the Free Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Wanda began working as a telephone operator for five years for Southwestern Bell Telephone in McPherson. After her marriage the couple moved to Pratt where she was transferred as an operator for six months before moving back to McPherson in 1957. In the 1960's. Wanda began volunteering at what became the Save 'N Share Shop and she took great pride in providing for the community in this manner. Wanda was a stay at home mom while the children were growing up, except for a five year period when Roy and Wanda owned and operated the McPherson Dairy Queen for five years in the early 1970's.

Wanda was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post 2715 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 24 Auxiliary, Churches United In Ministry, and the Save 'N Share where she volunteered over 23 years as manager. She received a Certificate of Acknowledgment in 2017 from the Father Flanagan's Boy's Home in appreciation of her contribution to the children of Boys Town. In 1994 Roy and Wanda commissioned Wichita chainsaw artist Gino Salerno to carve Miss Wickersham from a free at the site of Wickersham School and is still on display at the McPherson Museum.

Wanda enjoyed china painting, making porcelain dolls, following her children's events, activities, and sports. She always looked forward spending time with their grandchildren and would have them over often to spend the night. A special playroom is set up in their basement for the children to enjoy.

She was the wife of Roy Leon Wash. While working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an Operator, Wanda was asked by a friend, Rosalee Wash, if she would go on a blind date with Roy Wash and she accepted. It took just that one date for the couple and they dated almost every weekend after until July 8, 1956. That is when Wanda Marie Rounds was united in marriage to Roy Leon Wash at Minneola, Kansas as JoAnn, (Roy's sister) made all the arrangements with the Church and Pastor. The young couple established their first home together in Pratt, Kansas and rented an apartment on N. Pine Street. Wanda transferred to the telephone office there and worked there until October when Roy's job was done and they moved back to McPherson. This union was blessed with two children, a daughter Rowena and a son Mark..

She is survived by her husband, Roy Wash, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Rowena Marie Heart, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Mark Wash, of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings, Donald Dean Rounds, of McPherson, Kansas. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Hayden Grace Wash, Adison Faith Wash, and Zachary Justice Wash

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Hazel Rounds, her sister, Elsie Annettie Landess and her brother, Bob Rounds.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later determined date at the First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas, with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.

Burial of cremains will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.

Judith “Judy” Ann Thiel, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, surrounded by family at her home in rural Lindsborg, KS. She was a retired school teacher and reading specialist at Washington Elementary School, where she had taught for over 30 years.

Judy was born on February 14, 1940, in Maude, OK, the daughter of Gae F. and Bethel G. (Austin) Bowers. She graduated from Gypsum Rural High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. Judy was united in marriage to Duane E. Thiel on June 12, 1964, in Salina, KS.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson, where she served as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and Awana leader.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 55 years, Duane of the home; two daughters, Jo Dee Westbrook (Mike) of Loveland, CO and Christine Stewart (Jeff) of Gardner, KS; brother, Robin Bowers (Debbie) of Marquette, KS; five grandchildren, Taylor and Brock Stewart and Lucas, Allison, and Molly Westbrook; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clint Bowers and Gene Bowers.

A private funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Pattison officiating. Keith E.&nbsp;Thornton was born June 13, 1955 in Lucas, Kansas to Leland and Norene (Schloh) Thornton.&nbsp; He departed this life to join his son Trevor in heaven on April 20, 2020. &nbsp;

Keith was united in marriage on September 30, 1974 to Brenda French.&nbsp; To this union three children were born, Brandon, Trevor and Megan.

Keith worked for J-Oil Company for several years before going to work at the Osborne County Highway Department, where he worked for 39 years.&nbsp; Keith enjoyed tearing down old barns and houses, attending his kids activities, especially car races in which Brandon, Trevor and Brady participated.&nbsp; He really enjoyed watching his grandkids in their many activities as well.&nbsp; He loved watching Jorden, Tyler and Cambri play basketball as well as football and volleyball.&nbsp; “The kids from up north” as he referred to Braydon, Avari and Reid-carry on the racing tradition and Keith truly enjoyed going and cheering them on.&nbsp; Kenley was just getting started in basketball and he was excited to watch her.&nbsp; Tucker played T-ball and grandpa loved watching him learn the game. &nbsp;

Camping was a huge part of Keith’s life.&nbsp; He loved being around all of the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews at the lake.&nbsp; Keith especially enjoyed his shade tree visits with the camp hosts Ruth and Gary Copple who became very dear friends to him and Brenda.&nbsp; We are sure that Keith and Gary are having a good B.S. Session while looking down on us.

Keith was preceded in death by his son Trevor on February 6th&nbsp;and his parents Leland and Norene Thornton.

Keith is survived by his wife of 45 years Brenda, children Brandon and wife Paige, daughter Megan and husband Brady Schoen, daughter in law Keri, grandchildren Tyler, Jorden, and Cambri Schoen, Braydon Avari and Reid Thornton, Kenley and Tucker Thornton; brothers Lynn (Jacque, Allen (Karen, Bill and sister Vickie Hopson (Dale).&nbsp; Many nieces and nephews, friends and enemies and his extended family of in-laws also survive.&nbsp;

Larry W. Holt,89, was born on November 11, 1930 in Dayton, KS (Dickinson County) to Solen Cameron and Lillie Francis (Reed) Holt. He joined his wife, Lois in their heavenly home on April 21, 2020. Larry and Lois Roy were married on September 10, 1955 in the Wilsey Methodist Church. After serving his country in the United States Army, he and Lois settled in Salina.

Larry graduated from the Wilsey High School. He worked at Bell Motors for many years. He also worked for Federal-Mogul Powertrain, Great Plains and Phillips Lighting.

Larry is a member of the First Baptist Church, Salina where he and Lois attended for many years.

Larry’s primary hobby was working which he did until health issues slowed him down. He did find time to enjoy fishing from his boat with Lois and family. There were numerous close calls to and from the lake dodging deer and the local radar. Driving fast was a family trait and Larry certainly knew how to do that. He and Lois also enjoyed hunting.

Larry was an amazing mechanic and, in addition to his regular jobs, would spend hours in the evenings and weekends working on friends and neighbors’ vehicles. He also spent considerable time working on farm equipment for his brothers. If a family member or neighbor was in need, Larry was there to help. He and Lois traveled many miles helping his sister, Jauneta, move to various locations while she and her husband were in the military.

Joking was a favorite pastime and Larry had a knack for a dry sense of humor. One had to stay on their toes as Larry always had a quick comeback and always with a straight face. Then, he would laugh.

Larry is survived by one sister, Jauneta Whittington, Santa Clarita, CA; sister-in-law, Twila Holt, Talmage and sister-in-law, Ruby Hertlein (John, Emporia; nephews, Dale Holt (Sheila, Jim Landis, Jim and Tim Hertlein, and Michael Holt (Angelique); nieces, Joann Hettenbach (Paul, Linda Morgan (Ray, Sandra Allen (Rick, Shari Landis, Juanita Preast, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; parents; one sister, Mildred Landis (Dick); three brothers, Norman Holt (Ilene, Alvern Holt, and Rosanlee Holt; one niece, Nancy Fraley; and two nephews, Johnny Holt and Billy Jerry Farrell.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Ryan Mortuary. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 24th at Wilsey Cemetery, Wilsey, KS. Pastor Dr. Kevin Hazelton, officiating.

Larry W. Holt

Helen Justina Busenitz was born on February 4, 1941, to William L. and Emma (Wiebe) Busenitz.&nbsp; She grew up on the family farm southeast of Whitewater, Kansas.

Being the third-oldest of eleven children as well as the first daughter, she learned responsibility early by helping care for her eight younger brothers and sisters. The twin brothers were born when Helen was seven years old, and she and her younger sister Theresa helped a great deal in their care.

The family faithfully attended Sunday School and church at the Emmaus Mennonite Church.&nbsp; God used daily family devotions, annual summer Vacation Bible Schools, Whitewater revival tent meetings, and the daily Back to the Bible Broadcast radio programs to help her realize she was a sinner and needed God’s forgiveness.

At the age of eleven, on the last evening of the Missionary Conference in her church, Helen trusted in the work of Christ on the cross as her only way of being saved from sin. &nbsp;When she was sixteen, she was baptized and became a lifelong member of the Emmaus Mennonite Church near Whitewater, Kansas.

After doubting the assurance of her salvation for many years, she expressed her concern to one of her teachers, who explained 1 John 5:11-12 to her.&nbsp; “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life.&nbsp; And this life is in His Son.&nbsp; He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”&nbsp; This verse confirmed her assurance of having eternal life.

Helen attended the one-room Claypool School in Butler County for grade school and attended high school at Berean Academy in Elbing, Kansas, graduating in 1959.

Her desire to be a missionary began in childhood.&nbsp; For further Biblical education to prepare for mission work, she attended Grace Bible Institute (later Grace University) in Omaha, Nebraska.&nbsp; It was during her last semester, while attending a weekend retreat for college students at Gospel Missionary Union headquarters (now Avant Ministries, that the Lord laid Ecuador on her heart. She claimed John 15:16: “Jesus said, ‘Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain.’”

After graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree, Helen applied to and was accepted by Gospel Missionary Union.&nbsp; This was followed by a year of Spanish language school at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas.&nbsp; She arrived in Ecuador, South America, on August 17, 1966, and lived most of her 46 years of service in Ecuador in the coastal city of Babahoyo.

As she began her missionary career, her motto verse was John 15:16, quoted earlier.&nbsp; When hard times arose, Helen would rely on the truth of this verse.&nbsp; No person convinced her to go, but rather the Lord had laid that country on her heart.&nbsp; God gave peace confirming that this was her place of ministry.&nbsp; A second verse which helped her to remain faithful in difficulties was 1 Corinthians 4:2: “Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.”

Helen loved the Ecuadorian people and invested many hours preparing and teaching Bible studies and lessons, annually organizing DVBS weeks held in her home, and making her own flannel graph and song visuals for the children’s classes.&nbsp; She taught all age levels, from pre-kindergarten children to young people to university students and adults.

In June, 2012, Helen retired from Ecuador after 46 years of service.&nbsp; She retained a deep concern that the believers she had taught would remain true to the Lord and to the truth of the Bible.

Once back in the United States, she made her home at the Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kansas.&nbsp; After the evening meal at the Manor, she spent hours at the computer keeping in contact with her Ecuadorian friends and praying for them.

Her loving family includes her siblings, William Busenitz of Potwin, Kansas, Arnold Busenitz (Velma) of Newton, Emma Becker (Arlowe) of Plymouth, Minnesota, David Busenitz (Isabelle) of Topeka, Kansas, Kady Schubert (Jan) of Omaha, Nebraska and Christina&nbsp;Busenitz of Guinea, West Africa; brother-in-law, Henry Ortmann of Wolfpoint, Montana; sisters-in-law, Fran Busenitz of Madison, Georgia, Barbara Busenitz of Benton, Kansas and Patti Busenitz of Whitewater, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gilbert, Robert and Herbert Busenitz; sister, Theresa Ortmann, and a sister-in-law, Grace Busenitz. Helen passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the age of 79 years old.

Donna Jean Tasker, 91, Salina, died Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Donna was born April 18, 1929 in Salina to Fornie and Eva (Meade) Davis.

Don and Donna Davis were united in marriage on July 26, 1946. To this union three children were born: Donald, Pamela, and Roxanne. Donna was a member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed family, grandchildren, friends, camping, and going to Florida in the winter where she would pick up shells on the beach.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; sisters Marceline Harper and Sue Giesecke; and grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Tasker and Nicole Rae Tasker.

Survivors include her children, Donald Tasker, Pamela Carlson and her husband, Steve, and Roxanne Tasker; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Virginia F. Hurtig, 86, Delphos, died Monday, April 20, 2020 at her home. She was born December 3, 1933 in Delphos to Willard R. and Clara E. (Liedtke) Irvine.

Virginia and Armon L. Hurtig were united in marriage August 14, 1955 in Delphos. She was a schoolteacher for many years, teaching in Grinnell, Delphos, and Concordia. Virginia was a longtime and faithful member of the Delphos First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was also a member of the former Friendly Neighbors Club.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Brett; daughter, Heather; son-in-law, Donald Spear; and sisters, Twila Bailie and Marjorie Klein.

Her survivors include her children, Kent and his wife Isela, Andrea Spear; and Yvonne Burch and her husband, James; brothers-in-law, Wayne Bailie and Bob Klein; six grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

Susanne Jo Reynolds, age 69, died Saturday, April 11, at the Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, Ks. after a short illness.&nbsp;

She was born December 5th, 1950 in Belleville, Ks and the daughter of Vernon Lee Reynolds and Barbra Jo (Lawson) Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by brothers Nick (Pam) Reynolds, Cuba, Ks. John (Deanna) Reynolds, Joplin, Mo. and Patrick (Sherry) Reynolds, Las Vegas, Nev., two nieces, four nephews, and ten great nieces and nephews.

Susanne graduated in 1968 from Hillcrest High School, Cuba, Ks and then attended Asbury School of Nursing. Later she worked for the Food Mart in Belleville for several years before moving to Abilene, Ks. where she raised and trained racing greyhounds. In 2003, she moved to rural Cuba, Ks and operated a small kennel until her death.

Direct cremation was chosen, and she will be buried beside her parents in Agenda City Cemetery, Agenda, Ks. Graveside services will be conducted by Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home at a later date.

Susanne Jo Reynolds

Jack M. Neff, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in Hoisington, KS. He was born September 3, 1933 in Little River, KS to Lewis and Blanche Leota (Whiteman) Neff.

After graduating high school, Jack served in the United States Air Force. He married Margaret Mills in Arkansas City, KS on August 5, 1958. Living in Holyrood, KS since 1958, Jack was a retired maintenance supervisor at Enron Gas in Bushton, KS. He was also a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Little River Masonic Lodge No. 219, and the ISIS Shrine of Salina.

Jack is survived by his son, Mark A. Neff of Salina; daughter, Jeri D. Elliott of Tigard, OR; grandchildren, Travis Watson and Maranda Houck (Brandon); great grandchildren, Logan, Chandler, and Asher Houck and Shane and Jayden Thuesen; nephews, Doug Ritterhouse (Carolyn, Gerald Ritterhouse, and Scott Stumps; and niece, Cheryl Weaver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; sisters, Dorothy Ritterhouse, Louise Stumps, and Lois Neff; and brothers, Robert and Billy Neff.

A private family graveside service will take place Thursday, April 23, 2020 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.

He married Margaret Mills in Arkansas City, KS on August 5, 1958. Living in Holyrood, KS since 1958, Jack was a retired maintenance supervisor at Enron Gas in Bushton, KS. He was also a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Little River Masonic Lodge No. 219, and the ISIS Shrine of Salina.Jack is survived by his son, Mark A. Neff of Salina; daughter, Jeri D. Elliott of Tigard, OR; grandchildren, Travis Watson and Maranda Houck (Brandon); great grandchildren, Logan, Chandler, and Asher Houck and Shane and Jayden Thuesen; nephews, Doug Ritterhouse (Carolyn, Gerald Ritterhouse, and Scott Stumps; and niece, Cheryl Weaver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; sisters, Dorothy Ritterhouse, Louise Stumps, and Lois Neff; and brothers, Robert and Billy Neff.A private family graveside service will take place Thursday, April 23, 2020 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or ISIS Shrine of Salina, c/o, Parsons Funeral Home, Box 45, Ellsworth, KS 67439.
