Ronald G. Cherry, 65, Bennington, died Wednesday, May 27 at his home.  Ron was born October 16, 1954 in Salina to Raymond and Connie (Peterson) Cherry.

Ron was a graduate of Bennington High School and he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.  He worked as a fabricator for Grain Belt Supply.  Ron and Karen Wallerius were united in marriage on June 2, 1979 in Salina.  He was member of the United Church of Bennington, Bennington Lions Club, Bennington Booster Club, and the Bennington Chain Gang.  Ron was a big supporter of Bennington and Kansas State athletics.  Being a lifelong Bennington resident, Ron had many friends and acquaintances. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Henderson; sister-in-law, Shelley Cherry; sister-in-law, Sharon Brandli; and niece, Monica Brandli. 

Survivors are his wife, Karen; daughters, Lauren Cherry and her fiancĂ©, Derrick Spencer and Sarah Cherry; brother, Dale (Deb) Cherry; brother-in-law, Jerry Henderson;  brother-in-law, Dave (Shawna) Brandli; nieces, Janet (Richard) Beemer, Teresa (Gary) Clements, Allison (Kenny) Friedrich, Angela (Alex Harris) Cherry, and Erica Brandli; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews. 

Visitation, without the family present, will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 31 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis.  The family will be greeting friends at their residence during these same times.  Due to COVID-19, memorial services and burial in the Bennington Cemetery will be at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Bennington High School Athletic Department or the United Church of Bennington and may be mailed to Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O.
