SALINA - On Tuesday November 17, 2020,&nbsp;Rick Alan Rothweiler, of Salina, KS, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 62, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 9, 1958 in Hoisington, KS to Richard and Juanita (Bridgess) Rothweiler.

October 25, 1976 Rick went to work with the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a Conductor. On December 9, 1978 he married the love of his life, Kathryn and after a few years and 2 kids later he became an Engineer on what is now known as the Union Pacific Railroad. He loved his job on the railroad so much that he gave them 44 years, finally retiring only days before he passed. Railroading was not his only life though, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends by kayaking, camping, fishing and jumping off the cliffs at Wilson Lake. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking in the scenery any chance he could.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years Kathryn (Michaelis) Rothweiler; son Jacob (Miranda) Rothweiler of Pasadena, CA; daughter Amy Strowig and her three beautiful little birds, Lorelei, Anneliese and Jena all of Salina, KS; Mother Juanita Rothweiler of Derby, KS and two older brothers Mark Rothweiler (Debbi Acuri) of Antelope, CA and John (Patty) Rothweiler of Derby, KS.

Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time. There will be a celebration of life to be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to the Strowig girls college or trade school fund through Ryan Mortuary.

Diane E. Hofflinger (Ernsbarger) passed away, Monday, November 23, 2020.&nbsp;

Diane was born September 9, 1959 to Phillip and Barbara Ernsbarger in Concordia KS.&nbsp;

She married her husband Loren January 4,&nbsp;1984 and to this union they had two children, Josh and Laura. Diane enjoyed gardening and doing drawings and paintings throughout her life.&nbsp;

Rex Alan Echer, 67, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 29, 1953 at Ellsworth Hospital to Joe and Claudine (Brichacek) Echer of Lucas, Kansas.

He attended Luray Schools graduating in 1971 and continued on to Hutchinson Community Junior College completing courses and graduating in 1973. In June 1973, Rex began his lifetime career of car sales beginning with Jim Sullivan Chevrolet in Salina and then with Don Hattan Chevrolet in Wichita. In 1984 he started The Car Shoppe which he and his wife continue to own today.

On December 29th, 1973 he married Deanna Parsons and they made their home in Salina. Rex loved cars and trucks of any age and it shows in the two that he cherished; his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and the 1946 Dodge pickup. He served his community through participating on many boards including the Salina Credit Bureau, Kansas Independent Automobile Association, Pheasants Forever and the list goes on.

Rex was a Sporting Clays enthusiast and traveled to compete in shotgun sports in Kansas and several other states. He was a Master Class Shooter and also a Level III Instructor for Shotgun Sports. He loved teaching the sport as much as competing with his friends. He leaves his wife, Dee of the home; a daughter, Brooke (Mitchel) Lacy of Assaria; and a son, Scott Echer of Assaria; grandchildren, Jackson Echer, and Paige and Taelyn Lacy; his brother, Steve Echer (Renie Green), Salina and sister, Kristy (Kent) Brown of Wichita; aunts, Lois Brichacek of Great Bend, and Evelyn Brichacek of Salina, and Robert and Jody Hart of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gayle Echer Cline and great niece, Taylor Patterson, both of Woodstock, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2020, in the Lucas Cemetery, Lucas, Ks. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Gypsum Valley Sporting Clays, 7702 S. Niles Rd, Gypsum, Ks. Sherry Ellen Hill was born on December 20, 1931 in Belleville, Kansas, the daughter of Richard L. and Winnie K. (Carpenter) Jones.&nbsp; Sherry attended Belleville schools, graduating from Belleville High School in 1949.&nbsp; She passed from her earthly life on November 16, 2020 in Belleville, Kansas at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 27 days.

Sherry met the love of her life, Jack E. Hill at Belleville High School, and the two were united in marriage on September 4, 1949.&nbsp; Their one-year anniversary gift was the birth of their son, Paul R. Hill.&nbsp; Three years later the birth of their daughter, Jacalyn D., completed the family.

During her lifetime Sherry was the master caregiver.&nbsp; Whether it was for family, friends or acquaintances, she provided for those in need. She lived each day joyously in the grace of her Lord Christ Jesus.&nbsp; She was actively involved in the First Baptist Church of Belleville, and the American Baptist Women.&nbsp;

Her family and her home were her pride and joy.&nbsp; She delighted in decorating her home for each and every occasion, and made each holiday special.&nbsp; Each Holiday table for every gathering was uniquely decorated for the season, and each plate, cup and saucer placed lovingly with a place marker for each attendee.&nbsp; There was always room for extra chairs for guests without a place to go for the holiday.&nbsp; Many laughs and memories were shared around her holiday tables, as guests tried to figure out riddles to find their “Easter Baskets” that were placed anywhere on the property.&nbsp; And the care she took each Christmas to fill a stocking for each child, grandchild and great grandchild, stuffed to the brim with items she had carefully, thoughtfully and lovingly chosen for each one.

Sherry’s other passion was travel.&nbsp; Her nickname was “Shep” as she would jump in with just about anyone to take a “ride”.&nbsp; She and Jack traveled on several cruises after his retirement.&nbsp; She also took several trips with friends, including grand trips to England, France and the Netherlands with friend Ruby Moravek and a great adventure with good friend Eilene McDill to Ireland.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack in 1998, sister Andrea Bouska, brother-in-law Dr. Donald Bouska, brother-in-law James A. Hill, Jr. and sister-in-law Joyce J. Hill.

She will be forever remembered by her son Paul R. and wife Ruth of Belleville; daughter Jackie and husband Kenny Moravek of Scandia; grandchildren Justin and wife Paige Hill of Hollenberg, Kansas; Cassadie Moravek and partner Mark Baker of Los Angeles, California; Heath and wife Sara Moravek of Courtland, Kansas; Patrick and wife Sheila Ferguson of Mount Hope, Kansas; great grandchildren Nathan and wife Amanda Doss of Columbus, Nebraska; Hunter and Garrett Hill of Hollenberg, Kansas; Erica and Ethan Sublett of Courtland, Kansas; Xavier, Gabriel, Michaela, Domonik, Cecelia and Sebastian Ferguson, Mount Hope, Kansas and great great granddaughter Emery Doss, Columbus NE.&nbsp; Sherry is also survived by her extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, special friends Annette Eaton, Lonnie Chatfield and Marvin (Mac) McDill, and a community of friends.

&nbsp; Bonnie Rose Koons, 92, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, November 24th, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Bethany Home. Bonnie was born in Goltry, Oklahoma on February 17, 1928, a daughter of Carrie (Johnson) and George William Koons. Bonnie attended Goltry elementary schools and Goltry High School, Goltry, Oklahoma. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church Lindsborg, Kansas where she was a Sunday School teacher. Bonnie was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner she also worked on the farm and as a laundry manager for Bethany Home, Lindsborg, Kansas. Bonnie was a member of Westside Club of Lindsborg, Kansas. Bonnie enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking and baking, taking care of her yard and flowers. She was known for her Swedish Tea Rings and Buns. Bonnie Rose Koons was united in marriage to Dyrl Theon Koons on April 26, 1951 at Goltry, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Dyrl II, Delwin, and Darla. Dyrl died on March 6, 2014. She is survived by her children, Dyrl T. Koons II and wife Paula, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Delwin T. Koons and wife Wendy, of Lindsborg, Kansas, and Darla T. &nbsp; Robert Warren “Bob” Martin, 89, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at his home in McPherson. Bob was born August 10, 1931, in Lyons, KS, the son of Ralph W. and Mildred I. (Allen) Martin. On December 3, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Charlene R. King. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before her passing on May 19, 2004. Bob graduated from McPherson High School in 1949. He was then employed by NCRA Refinery in McPherson before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1952. He served his country for four years during the Korean War. Bob later attended Kansas State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed as a mechanical engineer at Eastman-Kodak in Kingsport, TN, until his retirement in 1987. In 1988, Robert and Charlene returned to McPherson. Bob attended First Congregational United Church of Christ and was a member of V.F.W. Post #2715 and American Legion Post #24. He was also an active volunteer at the McPherson County Food Bank. Survivors include: a son, Michael Martin and wife, Margaret, of Lyons, KS; grandchildren, Michael Martin of Lyons, KS, Samantha Deck and husband, Michael, of Albuquerque, NM and Daniel Thouin and wife, Lacy, of Kingsport, TN; a great-grandchild, Garrett Deck; special friend, Connie Hallgarth of McPherson, KS; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Dorothy A. Jones, 95, passed away November 24, 2020 in Ellsworth. She was born July 20, 1925 in Cawker City, KS to Orville and Mildred (Williams) Coe.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Dorothy married Merlyn L. Jones in Bellville, KS on January 9, 1946. They lived and raised their family in Ellsworth where Dorothy worked many years as a secretary for Van Gundy and Associates, a civil engineering firm. She was also a member of the Ellsworth VFW Auxiliary.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Pamela Biggs of Ellsworth, Cindi Smith of Wilson, and Kathy Burton of Geneseo; grandchildren, Cody Smith (Becky), Cassidy Smith (Taylor), Clancy Smith (Caitlin), Brittany Forseth (Nick), Crystal Duchesneau (Dakota), and Chase Burton; great grandchildren, Arabella, Lakyn, Avery, Wyatt, Bryer, Conway, Cosner, Calhoun, Bailey, Bryden, Colter, KarsonDean, Remmington, and Beau; and former son-in-law, Dennis Burton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlyn; sons, Jon Paul and Richard; granddaughter, Jeania Bounds; sister, Verda Poppen; and sons-in-law, Jim Smith and Russell Biggs.

Gail Patrice Habluetzel, was born August 7, 1952 in Glen Cove, New York. She died November 23, 2020 in Newton, Kansas. Gail met and married her husband Danny Habluetzel in Clay Center, Kansas. Gail Patrice Habluetzel

Wolter liked to tell people he was a 1927 Model.  He joined his parents, Edythe Wolter Floyd and Whitfield Floyd, in this life, on a farm southwest of Herington on July 2. 

 In 1936 the family moved to farm southeast of Herington where Wolter spent the rest of his life.  Throughout his youth and into his adulthood he worked with his parents on the farm and in the dairy. 

Wolter joined the Army in 1946 after his graduation from Herington High School.  He served in the Occupational Forces in Japan.  While away from home, his mother suggested to my mom’s mother, Helen Herpich, that maybe Doris would like to correspond with Wolter to help ease his loneliness.  We all know how that ended! 

When he finished his service in the Army, Wolter attended and graduated from Kansas State University, while courting Doris. All his life he was a proud Wildcat and loved following the Wildcat teams.  You couldn’t call Wolter a fair-weather fan!  When the Wildcat football team was having its worst seasons, he’d load the family in the car to go watch a Saturday afternoon football game in KSU stadium.  During basketball season, after leaving the milking barn in the evening, he’d often take the family, along with Truman Lockard, to Ahearn Field House to watch basketball.  Of course, Wolter was as thrilled as any Wildcat when the football team finally got the hang of winning.  He and my mom went to many tail gates and games with Lee and Diana, their grandchildren, and the rest of the Wildcat Nation. 

 Wolter joined his father, Whit, in the dairy and farm operations after he graduated from K-State in the early 1950’s.  With his dad, he took great pride in managing their herd of registered Holsteins. 

 He joined Doris in marriage, built a new house for her on the farm, and together they raised three children, Gary, Susan and Lee. Wolter was always involved in his family’s activities. 

 He and Doris were faithful members of the First Christian Church all their lives.  Wolter served as a deacon and elder for his congregation.  He was a faithful member of the Christian Church for over 90 years. 

 They were supporters of 4-H.  Wolter served as a Community Leader for the Lyon Prospectors 4-H Club while his children were members. 

 He was the President of the Tri-County Fair Board for several years and served as the Dairy Superintendent at the Tri-County and Central Kansas Free Fairs.  When his kids were showing their Holstein cows, he and Doris were at the show ring.  As a dairyman, for many years he served as a board member of the Mid-America Dairy Producers. 

He supported his community as an active member of the Red Cap Club, Kiwanis, and Lions. 

 Wolter and Doris loved to join the other members of the Herington Squares to square dance.  They also belonged to bridge clubs and pitch clubs through the years.  

When Wolter decided to sell his dairy herd in the late 1980’s, he and Doris became “snowbirds” and spent their winters in Brownsville, TX.  Their friends from Herington, John and Perla McGrew, were often their partners in crime as they square danced, played bridge and traveled.  They made many new friends too during those winters in Texas and had lots of adventures until Doris insisted every spring they come home for Easter with their family. 

 Wolter and Doris spent many hours as babysitters through the years with their grandchildren.  Often the kids stayed the night, or a few days, depending on the plans of their parents.  As grandparents the door was always open, and Wolter and Doris took great joy in sharing their grandkids lives. Grandpa was always ready to have a bowl of ice cream with Hershey’s Syrup. It was great fun for them all to play games together.  When the grandkids were playing sports or showing cows at the fair, they were always there cheering them on. The grandkids all treasure the times with their Grandpa and Grandma. 

 In his final years, Wolter lived at the Legacy of Herington.  He was always eager to get in the Bingo, or Pitch or Mexican Train Dominos games. 

  When Wolter attended the church services at Legacy, often when the others stopped singing after the first verse, Wolter continued on with the next verse.  He knew his hymns! 

 He touched the lives of the caregivers at Legacy with his gentle ways and his smiles.  

He lived his life well and in doing so, showed his children, grandchildren, and others how to be decent human beings and how to live a life of service, integrity, and joy. 

 While his passing saddens all our hearts and leaves an empty place in our lives, we rejoice that he now dwells in Heaven with his Savior, and God, and his loved ones who have gone on before.  We know when he arrived, he was welcomed as a good and faithful servant. 

Wolter was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Herpich Floyd, his infant son, Robert Craig Floyd and his parents, Whitfield and Edythe Floyd.

He is survived by his children: Gary Floyd (Cindy), Susan Lehr, and Lee Floyd (Diana); his grandchildren: G.P. Floyd (Amber), Danny Floyd, Shannon Lehr, Jessica Lehr, LeAnn White (Jeff), Curtis Floyd (Kristen), and Ryan Floyd; his great-grandchildren: Amanda Patterson (Michael), Montana Floyd, Brandley, Wesley, and Mathew Floyd, Liam Floyd, Maddie and Elle White, Karley, Kali, Keely, and Kennedy Floyd, and Armond McGary; his great great-grandchild: Sadie Patterson. 

 His family will gather with friends on Friday from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the First Christian Church in Herington where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.   He will be laid to rest in Sunset Hills Cemetery. October 10, 1931~November 24, 2020(age 89)

Delores Hazel Junod “DeDe” was born on a farm “Woodpecker Ranch” near Onaga, Kansas on October 10, 1931. Delores was the first born in the family, followed by five more siblings, to Henry Paul and Hazel Elizabeth (Franz) Junod. Delores was a lifelong Kansas native.&nbsp; She attended Centralia School, Centralia, Kansas. In 1951 Delores was employed by Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas for 15 years. Here by chance she met William “Gene” Bowser, another Beech employee. Oddly enough, or was it fate, their original upbringing, ages, and background history was very similar – enough so that they were married 63 years ago, on March 16, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas. In 1961 farm acreage near Burns, Kansas became available and they became residents. In 1966 daughter Charissa Ann Bowser was born. Then in 1979 another relative, her nephew, Jeffrey R. Junod became a family member. Delores was then employed as a do everything person. Cooking, facility upkeep, cleaning, and etc. for 23 years for the USD 398 Burns School System. She retired from her position in 1995. She was baptized and often attended the Cornerstone Church in Burns, Kansas. She loved Jesus and deeply believed in the hereafter. In her retirement years she kept busy with the many projects that rural farm family management requires.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Maurice Junod and a sister, Barbara Walker. After these 89+ years of life’s trials and tribulations, Delores passed away peacefully surrounded by her family due to complications from cancer on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. You can only say, “Well done, DeDe.”

Her loving family includes her husband, Gene; a daughter, Charissa Sutton of Douglass, Kansas; nephew, Jeff Junod of Burns, Kansas; two grandchildren, Jonathan Sutton of Douglass, Kansas and Victoria Sutton of Burns, Kansas; two sisters, Margaret Smith of Houston, Texas, Caroline (Robert) Unruh of Bella Vista, Arkansas; a brother, Robert Junod of Wichita, Kansas and many friends and neighbors.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private family visitation and funeral will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Pleasant Center Cemetery for family only.

James “Jim” R. Pruitt, 71, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 in Ellsworth. He was born January 13, 1949 in Salina to James Pruitt, Jr. and Jacqueline (Jackson) Pruitt.

Jim was a longtime resident of rural southern Lincoln Co. He was a truck driver working for 30 years for Quartzite Stone in Lincoln then many years for Martin Oil, delivering fuel to local farmers. Jim married June Choitz at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincoln on February 27, 1971.

Jim is survived by his wife, June of the home; daughters, Christina Pruitt of Wyoming, MI and Jenny Shoemaker of Newton, KS; grandchildren, Marissa Edwards of Grand Rapids, MI, Wyatt Edwards of Cottonwood Falls, KS, Jerek Shoemaker of Park City, KS, and Kirsten Shoemaker of Newton, KS; sister, Sandy Maholland of Salina, KS; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Simmons; and half-brother, Phillip Louthan.

James "Jim" R. Pruitt

Patricia A. McConnell, 83, Salina, passed away November 24, 2020, at 
Salina Regional Health Center. She was born September 8, 1937, in 
Hoisington, KS, to Leonard and Clara (Birzer) Bahr.

She married Warren Ervin McConnell on October 6, 1959.&nbsp;&nbsp; Patricia 
worked as a Registered Nurse at Clara Barton Hospital up until her 
retirement. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Altar

Pfannenstiel of Salina, and Renee (Scott) Suppes of Great Bend; seven 
grandchildren, Miranda Flores, Kristen Flores, Erica Harford, Sarah 
McConnell, Nathan McConnell, Lauren Suppes and MaKayla Suppes; sisters, 
Luella Call of Rolla, MO, Rita Bahr of Jones, OK, Jenelda (Leo) Moore of

Ralph Jay Brooks, 94, passed away November 22, 2020, at the Sheridan 
County Health Complex in Hoxie, Kansas. He was born on April 3, 1926, on
 the family farm in Clayton, Kansas to Van W. and Thelma (Foust) Brooks.
 Ralph married Lea Rae Branscomb April 29, 1944. They were married for
 59 years and made their home in Clayton, Kansas where Ralph was a 
farmer and rancher. He served in the United States Army as a 
Radio/Radar Technician from May of 1944 until May of 1946 and was a 
proud veteran of World War II.
 Ralph was an avid KU Basketball Fan. He loved country music and played the harmonica since childhood. 
 Ralph is survived by his son, Don Brooks and wife Barbara of 
Clayton, Kansas; daughters, Carolyn “Jo” Walker and husband Dennis of 
Clayton, Kansas and Janet Guerrero and husband John of Salina, Kansas; 
brother, Vern Brooks and wife Martha of Green Valley, Arizona; four 
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren 
and many beloved in-laws.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Bradley; and three sisters-in-law.
 Cremation has been chosen. A public visitation will be held at 
Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, in Hoxie, Kansas, on Friday, November 27, 
2020 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. A private family service will be held

He graduated from Fremont High School (Nebraska) and attended Los Angeles Pacific College (California). On September 7, 1947, John was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Pearson in Los Angeles, CA. She preceded him in death on January 4, 1990. He married Ruth (Fairbairn) Elliott on June 17, 1990. She died August 21, 2009. He was a member of McPherson Free Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #24. Survivors include: three children, Larry (Dana) Green of Emporia, KS, Cindy (Rick) Ostrander of Lawrence, KS, and Rodney (Joan) Green of McPherson, KS; brother, Bob Green of McPherson, KS; sister, Faith (Dean) Smidderks of McPherson, KS; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. &nbsp; Nadine Gay (Decker) Spence, 66, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, in Henderson, NV. Nadine was born, June 2, 1954, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Robert E. and Susie L. (Rudiger) Decker. She attended Canton Public Schools where she was a cheerleader and May Day Queen, and she graduated in 1972 as valedictorian of her class. She attended Hutchinson Junior College, Pittsburg State University, and graduated from McPherson College with a degree in accounting. Nadine met Steve Spence at Hutchinson Junior College. They were married on June 15, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in McPherson where they remain members. They were blessed with two daughters, April and Abbigail. Nadine loved her daughters and supported them through involvement in all their activities. She took on leadership roles as Sunday School teacher and president of the PTA, Campfire Girls, and Arts Council Choir. Nadine built her career as an accountant at Kansas Jack and continued as an Accounting Manager at NCRA, retiring in 2015. She was also a leader in the community as she was involved with Leadership McPherson through the Chamber of Commerce, All Schools Day Chairman, and countless other organizations. Nadine was a loving, caring individual who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She could light up a room with her smile and laughter. She was always positive and put others before herself. She brought joyful life to every holiday and family reunion, which included any number of her beloved 45 cousins. Friendship was very important to her. She looked forward to lunches, shopping trips, and socializing with all her friends. In retirement, Nadine and Steve continued traveling, camping, and spending time with their family, including their precious granddaughter, Olivia. Nadine thrived in her role as a grandmother, and she and Steve took every opportunity to create memories together as Grandma and Grandpa. Dale “Dan” Bettenbrock, 76, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 in Hays. He was born August 3, 1944 in Ellsworth to William Carl Bettenbrock and Elva Louise (Schultz) Bettenbrock.

Dan was a longtime resident of Ellsworth where he married Marilyn Jo Bartunek on January 31, 1964. He was a farmer and the street superintendent for the city of Ellsworth for many years.

Dan is survived by his sons, Jack Bettenbrock of Ellsworth, Delvin Bettenbrock (Laura) of Ellsworth, and Gail Bettenbrock (Emily) of Brookville; daughter, Shelly Vopat (Derek Arensman) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Tiffany Hall, Brittany, Ashley and Jennifer Bettenbrock, Kristen Zelenka (Roy), Bradley Vopat, and Colton, Charlotte and Adelynn Bettenbrock; and great grandchildren, Rowan Hall, Waylon Bettenbrock, and Axton Wessling. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; brothers, Carl and Frank Bettenbrock; and sisters, Barbara Smith and Sandra Urbanek.

Visitation: 4-8 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2020 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

A private family graveside service will take place and a public celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.

Wayne W. Hanson, age 89, died on November 17, 2020 at Mt. Joseph Nursing Center, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on a farm south of Formoso, Kansas on January 11, 1931 to Harry C. and Ruth F. (Dunstan) Hanson. Wayne graduated from Mankato High School.

Wayne worked at several jobs including managing Downs Lumber Company in Downs, Kansas, paint sales in Colorado Springs, his own battery recycling business and retired as Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Salina.

He always enjoyed being involved in farming even after he began to rent out his land. Wayne was particularly proud of keeping his pastures free of bindweed and cedar trees and his fences in perfect condition. Through the years Wayne enjoyed many different things: belonging to Lions Club, camping in the mountains, ushering at church, square dancing and being on his farm.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Harry C. and Ruth F. (Dunstan) Hanson. He is survived by his wife Anna of Wichita, KS; daughter of Wayne and Charlotte (Lichty) Hansen, Arlene (Steve) of Jamestown, KS, Grandson, Dalton (Alyssa) Ediger of Wichita, KS; Brother Lloyd (Mary) Hanson of Rossville, KS; 3 nieces, a nephew, other relatives and friends.

Inurnment will be a private service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, KS. No formal memorial service will be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Richard (Dick) Bruce Osborne, 88, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Enterprise, KS.

He was born June 23, 1932 in Winona to Allan and Margaret (Brose) Osborne and graduated from Winona High in 1951.

On September 12, 1954 Dick married his high school sweetheart Pattie Ann Olmstead. Dick and Pattie made their home in Winona and had three daughters. Cathie, born in 1956, was sickly from birth, became the first diagnosed case of Cystic Fibrosis in Winona at age 3, and died at age 5.

After graduation, Dick went on to serve in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955 where he was a vehicle mechanic. He joined the Winona Fire Department and served the City of Winona for 38 years. Dick retired as Captain of the Winona Fire Department. For many years Dick also worked part time for Hauser Art Glass Company. Dick was a frequent volunteer at Winona Health and the local food shelf.

After retirement Dick enjoyed breakfast with the fireman, fishing in the lake and river, riding his scooter around town and spending time with family. In 2016 Dick moved to Kansas to live with his daughter Tami and family.

Dick is survived by daughters Tami (Klaire) Keller of Abilene, KS and Terri (Baird) Johnson of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren, Kelsey (Chad) Briand, Charlie Keller and Rachelle, Charlotte, and Nicolette Johnson; a great-granddaughter Kynsley Briand. Dick is further survived by nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pattie, daughter Cathie, brother Alan Jr., sister-in-law Mae and brother-in-law Richard.

Elinor A. Cramer, 102, of Salina, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020. Elinor was born March 27, 1918 in rural Louisville, Nebraska to Otto John and Emma (Fornoff) Sprieck.

She married Donald T. Cramer on February 23, 1936 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Elinor taught school, during war years she opened a homemade soap business. After the war, she and her husband were owners of a restaurant in Ralston, Nebraska.&nbsp; They then moved to Washington, Kansas and operated a frozen food and locker business. They moved to Hiawatha, Kansas and she was appointed City Clerk. Elinor was also a church secretary and clerk of session for the Hiawatha Presbyterian church. Elinor was noted for designing and creating special occasion hats for clientele.

In 1970 she was appointed to City Clerk and City Manager of Harper Woods, Michigan. She was instrumental in the construction of an 8 story, 132 apartment Senior Citizen Retirement Home and became the manager.

After retirement Elinor moved to Holly Hill, South Carolina. In 1993. Elinor moved to Salina, Kansas and to McCall Manor in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers; Ernest, Arthur, Edward and Elmer Sprieck, sisters; Elvira Hiel and Augusta Elliott, son; David Eugene Cramer who passed in Holly Hill, SC October 4, 2015.

Elinor is survived by a son Richard Allen Cramer and wife Mary of Great Bend, Son David’s treasured wife Julie Cramer, of Holly Hill, SC, 3 grandchildren, Troy Cramer (Dawn) of Salina, Tiffany Jones (Taylor) of Manhattan, Travis Cramer (Janae) of Bennington, and 7 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Elinor’s body was donated to the KU Medical Center.

Dorothy Marie McCarty was born on May 24, 1930, on her parent’s farm, near Courtland, Kansas. The daughter of Clarence and Neta (Kingsbury) Haney, Dorothy attended Courtland schools, graduating from Courtland High School in 1948.

Following high school, Dorothy married Donovan L. McCarty on September 20, 1952, at the Courtland Methodist Church. To this union of 50 years, two sons were born. Dorothy and Don bought their first, and only house, on O Street in 1952, at a time when there were no other houses in that part of town. They lived in this house their entire lifetime.

During her lifetime, Dorothy worked for various employers, include the Belleville Telephone Company, JC Penny’s, Food Mart, Arbuthnots and the Travel Information Center.

In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family, playing cards with friends, and visiting casinos every so often. She was also an avid sports fan, following the local schools, K-State football, KU Basketball, the Kansas City Chief and Kansas City Royals.

Dorothy peacefully passed from this life in Washington, Kansas, on November 20, 2020, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 27 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donovan in 2003, her brother Philip Haney and sister-in-law Glorine Haney.

She will be forever remembered by her sons, Donovan L. (Mac) McCarty II, and Gary L. McCarty, both of Belleville. Dorothy is also survived by her many cousins and extended family, and a community of friends.

Friends may sign Dorothy’s book on Friday, November 27th, from 1pm – 8pm, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, where the family will greet friends from 6pm – 8pm.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 28th, at 2:00 pm, at the Belleville City Cemetery.

Elaine Marie Cottam, the daughter of Edward E. Pelesky and Anna Victoria (Blecha) Pelesky, was born March 26, 1941 in Narka, KS and passed away on November 21, 2020 at CHI St. Mary’s at Nebraska City, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 25 days.

Elaine grew up and attended the local public school of Narka, KS graduating from Narka High School.&nbsp; In her early years, she worked at Foote’s Cafe in Chester, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She later worked for MC Industries in Belleville for several years.&nbsp; Elaine later worked at Swedes’ in Hubbell, NE and Mary’s in Hebron, NE as a cook and waitress.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She owned and operated the Hop Along Bar in Gilead, NE for several years and later managed the VFW in Hebron for a time until her retirement.

In 1963, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Cottam.

Elaine was a former member of the United Methodist Church, Hubbell, NE

Elaine's greatest passion in her retirement years were her grandkids.&nbsp; She provided everything they needed and gave them everything they wanted. Her doors were always open and if not, the grandkids knew where the key was!&nbsp; Her house was the place to go after school, after practice or just the place to get glamorized for homecoming or prom. She made sure whatever they liked to eat, or drink was on hand even if it meant she did not have something for herself.&nbsp; Any mending that needed to be done was taken care of and if you needed your clothes washed, she was on top of it. If Elaine knew the kids were going to her house after school, she would be there waiting to pick them up, even though her house was only three blocks from the school. Elaine's kids knew that she was the one person they could always count on and the kids/grandkids never left the house without a hug and a “I Love you”.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anna Pelesky.

She is survived by her children:&nbsp;&nbsp;Kent (Kim) Cottam of Hebron, NE, Kathy Broers of Chester, NE, Kevin (Jani) Cottam of Hebron, NE, and Kristy (Eric) Mathiesen of Hebron, NE; Grandchildren:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jordan, Jay(Bailey), and Jena Cottam. Brittany(Trevor) Wit, Broderick(Byranna) Bowman, Tanner Broers, Taylor Broers, Ethan Hudson, Sydney Cottam, Cambrie Cottam, Paige(Joshua) Yoachim, and Hunter Mathiesen; 5 Great grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.

Private family funeral services will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS, with Reverend Keith Brozek, officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the National Cemetery, Narka, Kansas.

Friends may call to sign the register book from 1:00 PM until 5:00; PM on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the&nbsp;Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS

Pelesky and Anna Victoria (Blecha) Pelesky, was born March 26, 1941 in Narka, KS and passed away on November 21, 2020 at CHI St. Mary’s at Nebraska City, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 25 days.Elaine grew up and attended the local public school of Narka, KS graduating from Narka High School.&nbsp; In her early years, she worked at Foote’s Cafe in Chester, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She later worked for MC Industries in Belleville for several years.&nbsp; Elaine later worked at Swedes’ in Hubbell, NE and Mary’s in Hebron, NE as a cook and waitress.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;She owned and operated the Hop Along Bar in Gilead, NE for several years and later managed the VFW in Hebron for a time until her retirement.In 1963, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Rita Darlene Gilbreath, 78, died Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas with family at bedside. She was born September 18, 1942 in Abilene, Kansas. Rita was raised by her mother Arlea Monroe and stepfather Gilbert Monroe in Dickinson County, her father was George Nunn of Stockton, Kansas. 

Survivors are daughters, Sharon K. and husband Michael LaOrange of Salina, Kansas; Anita D. and husband Jeremy Hinkle of Leonardville, Kansas; and son, Michael M. and wife Sue Gilbreath of Olathe, Kansas. Six grandchildren, Melissa Baxter and husband Matthew of Morganville, Kansas; Crystal Carson and husband Michael of White City, Kansas; Mikaela Gilbreath of Olathe, Kansas, Taryn Gilbreath of Olathe, Kansas; Jacob Hinkle of Leonardville, Kansas; and Joshua Hinkle of Leonardville, Kansas. Seven great-grandchildren, Joseph Carson, Gavin Carson, August Carson, Lawson Carson, and Irie Carson of White City, Kansas; Anna Baxter and Ryan Baxter of Morganville, Kansas.

Alice J. Weltmer, age 92, formerly of Mankato passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp; She was born on January 8, 1928 in Denver, Colorado to native Kansans John and Nellie (Smith) Schoonover.

Alice was a 1946 graduate of Denver East High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Kansas in 1950.

She married Roderick Weltmer on August 30, 1949 in Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on March 23, 2003.
