Jarrel “Jerry” Hafner, 92 of Abilene was called home to be with the lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Jerry was born on July 20, 1928 at Solomon to William Roy and Viola Mae (McCarty) Hafner. 

He attended the Solomon school system and graduated from Solomon High School in 1946. 

He married Jean Root on July 1, 1950. They were married for 65 years until her death in 2015. Jerry was a loving father and devoted family man to his 6 children. 

He had a lifelong love of riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and racing cars. 

He owned and operated jerry’s Welding Service in Abilene for 50 years until his retirement. 

Jerry was proceeded in death by his wife Jean Hafner, a brother, Lon Hafner and his parents, William “Roy” and Viola. 

He is survived by his sons, Brent (Judy) Hafner of Topeka, David Hafner of Garnett and Brian Hafner of Abilene; Daughters, Darcy (Tom) Nogle, Laurie (Dan) Davis all of Abilene and Missy (Donnie) Bell of Hutchinson. 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon. The family suggests memorials to be given to the Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon. Louise Marcianne (Crantz) Bensonwent to be with her Lord and Savior on her 89th birthday, October 6, 2020. Louise was born in rural Phelps County, Nebraska to Ernest and Anna Crantz on October 6, 1931. She graduated from Holdrege High School and attended Luther College in Wahoo, Nebraska, where she met Sterling (Bud) Benson. They married on May 20, 1951 and celebrated their 69th anniversary on May 20, 2020. To this union were born six children, Karin, Kristin, Carolee, Lori, Mark, and Beth. Louise and Bud lived in Holdrege, Nebraska until 1975 when they moved to Lindsborg, Kansas for Bud's teaching position at Bethany College.

Louise had many talents; she was an accomplished pianist, seamstress, baker, hostess and cook. She had a flair for decorating. She served on the Lindsborg Meals on Wheels Board; coordinated and delivered meals for many years. She also served on the Lindsborg Tree Board when she first moved to Lindsborg. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and belonged to Hannah Circle. She helped make many quilts for Lutheran World Relief, often in the basement of her home with other members of Messiah. Louise was also a member of PEO. The family believes that her greatest achievement was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Ernest Crantz, her infant sister Ruth, her in-laws, Rev. John and Ruth Benson and Doris Benson, her brother John Vaughan and wife Edith, her sister, June Sodergren and husband Ray, brother-in-law Rev. Stanley Benson, and nephew Timothy Vaughan.

She is survived by her loving husband, Sterling (Bud), her children, Karin Walton (Brian), Lincoln, NE, Kristin Benson (Marty), Minneapolis, MN, Carolee Jones (Mark), Salina, KS, Lori Linder, Lincoln, NE, Mark Benson (Andy), Baltimore, MD, Beth Benson, Minneapolis, MN. Anne C. Clack, 96, died October 4, 2020 in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She was born on March 1, 1924 in Arkansas City, KS, the daughter of Robert R. and Edith W. Cox.&nbsp; She married Robert W. Clack on July 30, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida.&nbsp; She graduated from Kansas State University.&nbsp; A life-long teacher, she taught by example:&nbsp; Spanish, horsemanship, living, and love.&nbsp; She was a baseball fan and enjoyed competitive trail riding, travel, writing, sketching, painting, hosting Bible studies, playing the piano and flute and giving art and music lessons to the neighbor kids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Clack, parents Robert and Edith Cox, sister Jean Lough and brother Robert Cox Jr.&nbsp; She is survived by sons Robert W. Clack Jr and wife, Terry, Arthur L. Clack and wife, Danni, Charles R. Clack and wife, Toni, and daughters Charlotte C. Rundell and husband, Brent, and Cindy Clack-Jacquet and husband, Paul, and seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Helen Phillips, 85, of Salina, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at KU Medical Center. She was born in Ellis, KS, the daughter of Matt and Regina Augustine. On October 29, 1966 she married William Phillips.

She worked as a surgical RN. Helen enjoyed quilting, researching family genealogy, her family and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, brothers Elmer and Leo Augustine, and sister Betty Oakes.

Survivors include son Donald (Diana) Phillips, three brothers Alvin Augustine, Virgil Augustine, Irvin Augustine and two sisters Sr. Mary Augustine and Marcie Goodwin.

Visitation will be held October 8, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held October 9, 2020 at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Ryan Mortuary.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria in 2000; brother, Francis “Bones” Pieschl; two infant siblings, James and Rosemary; infant grandson, Thomas Lawrence Williams, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Koleen Pieschl.&nbsp;

Durham - Lola M. Redger, 92, died October 5, 2020 at Newton Medical Center. She was born October 16, 1927 at rural Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Edward and Katherine (Schartner) Nightingale. 

She married Clinton Redger June 12, 1949 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. 

Survivors include: son, Ray (Dawn Marie) Redger of Newton; daughter, Lisa Redger of Wichita; sister, JoAnn Unruh of Rich Hill, Missouri; 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. 

Predeceased by: husband, Clinton Redger in 1998; son, Kevin Redger in 1985.

Lola M. Redger

Janet Lee (Bland) Bell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 3rd, 2020. She was born September 18, 1945, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Floyd and Bertha Bland. The family moved to Salina, Kansas when she was a young girl, and she remained in Salina the rest of her life, a community she dearly loved.

On July 29, 1962, Janet married the love of her life, Scotty E. Bell. She graduated from Salina Central High School in May of 1963. Together they raised five children who survive her today; Melody HInnenkamp (Leo), Kara Fiske (Darrell), Nellye Bell-Wood (John), Rena Bell-Bila (the late Rick Bila) and Jason Bell (Kris). She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Merrill.

Janet had many grandchildren who were the light of her life! She spoke of them often and enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments. She supported her children and grandchildren in all of their passions and activities, and they knew they could count on her to be present. Whether it was the annual Saline County 4-H Fair, a dance recital, a fishing tournament, sporting event or band concert, she was present when possible and cheering each on. She is survived by her grandchildren, Vanessa Fiske-Kremer, Matt Bengtson, James Bengtson, Elizabeth Smith, Faith Bila, Brock Bila, Jenn Bila-Lambert, Kim Blizzard, Jake Funk, Abby Funk, Astin Byer, Blake Bell, and Colton Bell. Janet also had many great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly who brought her great joy.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Darlene Perkins, and two grandchildren, Rachelle Marie Sullivan and Aaron Fiske.

Janet and Scotty owned and operated several restaurants in Salina for over 40 years, the last before retiring was Scotty's Cafe. Over the years the couple and staff provided many meals to their loyal customers, who were like family to them. Janet was a service-minded lady who always reached out to help those in need. She loved hosting large family events. There were often over 100 people in attendance at family reunions and holiday celebrations on the family farm just outside of Salina. She truly loved seeing other people have fun!

Janet lived a full life and always made the best of whatever life brought her way. She was a two-time lymphoma survivor. The last two years brought additional health battles and she fought courageously to come home from a lengthy hospital stay in time to see two grandsons graduate high school in May 2019. She made it. She also looked forward to the holidays back at her farm and she enjoyed one more Christmas there last year!

Janet never took life for granted and one of the great joys she had was dancing with her husband, Scotty. When the two hit the dance floor, they never missed a beat. She loved her family and was always there to make a birthday cake or host a celebration. She loved providing a place for the people of Salina to come have a hot meal and felt Scotty's Cafe employees and customers were family. Janet always had a warm welcome for all at her farm as well. Everyone had a spot at the table.

Please join her family in celebrating her life. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, October 9th, from 6-8:00 pm at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church, 2727 E. Crawford, Salina, Kansas, on October 10th at 10 am. Janet will be laid to rest in Greenville Cemetery in Niles, Kansas, following the service.

Connie Sue Hunt, 67, she&nbsp; born in 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Robert and Janice Hunt, living in Iowa and then Denver, Colorado.&nbsp;

Connie obtained a degree in Bi-Lingual Education from University of Northern Colorado.&nbsp; Shortly after she moved to Kansas near her parents, and lived mainly in Manhattan and Wamego, Kansas, before passing away October 2, 2020 in Coldwater, Kansas.&nbsp;

She is survived by her sisters, Carol Bleau (Bill) of Golden, Colorado, Stacy Schmidt (Darryl) of Edmond, Oklahoma, niece Madison and nephews Michael and Thomas.&nbsp;

A brief graveside will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 at 11am at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.

Shirley A. McKinney, 82, of McPherson, KS, passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Wilson Care Home and Hospice. She had previously resided in Brookdale Assisted Living. She was born June 6, 1938, in a taxi cab between Galva and McPherson, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Tector. They preceded her in death, as did her husband, Lawrence, a son, Brent, brothers-in-law, George Ellsworth and Irvin Decker, sisters-in-law, Leoda Ellsworth and Terie Tector, as well as nephew, Robbie Ellsworth, and the family favorite pet dog, Willie. Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Galva Chieftan High School. She attended Emporia Teachers College thereafter. She married Lawrence McKinney at Galva Methodist Church in June, 1958. Five sons were born to this union, Douglas (Joyce), Scott (Myo), Mark (Jana), Kevin (Candee) and Brent (Kim). Brent died in 1994. Grandchildren carrying on her legacy are Alyssa (Craig), Krystal, Phil (Kathleen), Cara (Lance), Leann, Brandon, Michael, Trevor, Janae, Jacob and Samantha. Great-grandchildren are Hanna, Treyton, Brodi, January, Emma, and Rowan. Siblings surviving Shirley are Connie Decker, Kendall (Judy) Tector, and Larry Tector. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and special in-laws. Shirley worked in various positions in central Kansas during her youth and young adult years until she became a full-time domestic engineer in the McKinney household. Once the boys were older, she sold Avon and Amway and worked for Hostess Baking Co. in Wichita. After the family moved to McPherson, she was employed in the main office of National Cooperative Refining Association. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McPherson. Over the years, she was an active volunteer with the various church activities, the American Cancer Society in honor of her parents, McPherson Convention and Visitor Bureau, and Meals on Wheels. Shirley, along with her family, enjoyed travels and camping from Pacific Coast to the Atlantic Coast, was a skilled fish cook when the boys caught and cleaned them, as well as baker of oostakaka, tapioca pudding, pies, cakes, cookies, and anything else edible to growing young males. She was an avid photographer, was skilled at dominoes and Uno, a vegetable and flower gardener, scrap booker, dedicated Sunday School teacher and a Bible student. She relished being around her grandchildren and loved hearing about whatever they were involved with and especially if they had new work, play, or relationships. She loved all God’s creatures. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 9, 2020, at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Kansas Ave., McPherson. On October 1, 2020, Dwaine Sever Chinander, passed away at the age of 70. He was born on January 18, 1950 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Ruth (Rall) and Sever Brevick whom later divorced. In 1956, Ruth married Robert Chinander. In 1964, Robert Chinander adopted Dwaine.&nbsp;

In 1969, Dwaine graduated from White Sulphur Spring High School in Montana. While in high school he worked as a ranch hand for local ranchers and V.K.V. Lumber Company. After high school he enjoyed trucking cattle, grain, and hay. He maintained a CDL until he retired and was always willing to haul a load.&nbsp;

In 1970, Dwaine entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Aircraft Mechanic in the Vietnam War. In 1976, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and was very proud of being a Seabee. In 1981, he enlisted with the United States Naval Reserve Center Las Vegas and served six years.&nbsp;

Dwaine spent the 1980’s being a proud provider and cared deeply for Tona&nbsp;(wife) and helped raise Mike, Ronda, and Barb (Tonia’s children). They resided in Las Vegas where he worked as a heavy diesel mechanic and welder. In 1989, Dwaine and Tonia divorced but remained lifetime friends.&nbsp;

Dwaine remained in Las Vegas and continued working as a heavy diesel mechanic and welder until in 2010, when he relocated to Beloit, Kansas to be closer to Kathryn Sage (sister). He spent countless hours during the last decade sharing stories with Joe &amp; Christine Witt (niece) &amp; Elizabeth and Victoria Witt (great nieces). He enjoyed visiting with his nephews and their families: Kevin &amp; Sheena Sage (nephew) and Gian Ramon Bacaron (great nephew) and Wellington &amp; Megan Sage (nephew) &amp; Elliot and Isaiah (great nephews).

Dwaine never met a stranger and enjoyed sharing stories. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was always willing to help.&nbsp;

Dwaine was preceded in death by Sever Brevick and Ruth &amp; Robert Chinander.&nbsp;

Dwaine left behind many to celebrate his life including sisters- Lucille (Bill) Zuidema &amp; Kathryn Sage; lifetime friends-Tona &amp; Buckey; Nieces-Jeannie Zuidema, Marianna (Donald) Loose, Linda (Chad) Cline &amp; Christine (Joe) Witt; nephews- John (Lori) Zuidema, Dwight (Dawn) Sage, Kevin (Sheena) Sage, Wellington (Megan) Sage; great nieces- Elizabeth &amp; Tori Witt plus many more; great nephews-Gian Ramon Bacaron, Elliot &amp; Isaiah Sage plus many more.

Dwaine Sever Chinander

Rita M. (Dandurand) Sorell, age 88, passed away on Sunday, October 04, 2020 at Marquis Place, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on June 18, 1932 in Aurora, Kansas to Flavius H. and Leona M. (Letourneau) Dandurand.

She married Jerome E. Sorell on June 15, 1953 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Aurora, Kansas. He preceded her on Feb. 27, 2007.

She graduated from Aurora High School and received her RN Degree from St. Joseph Hospital school of Nursing.

Rita was a dedicated worker serving 41 years as a RN at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia.

Rita was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she was a Devout Catholic opening up church every morning and Sundays and also where she served as a greeter.&nbsp; She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Aux., Altar Society, St. Ann’s Society.&nbsp;

She enjoyed taking Legion trips and friendship mystery tours with Jerome.&nbsp; Rita loved watching her grand kids in sports, school programs and all other activities involving the grandkids.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Marilyn Thoman, Concordia, KS;&nbsp; Judy Sorell of Manhattan, KS; Janet Hall, Florissant MO; 2 sons, Randy Sorell (Lisa), &nbsp;Gerald Sorell (Marcia) both of Concordia; 15 Grandchildren; 27 Great grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Sorell; daughter, Mary Colleen Sorell, her parents, Flavius and Leona Dandurand, sisters, Zephyrine Dandurand and Dorothy Brownlee and son-in-law, Gerald Thoman.

Larry E. Koon, died peacefully on October 4, 2020 at the age of 79.

Larry is survived by his wife Debra Koon of Salina, KS; daughter Sheila Jacobo of Salina KS; sons Van Koon and Ty Koon of Colby, KS and Bruce Doris of Tescott, KS; sister Norma Myers of Kinsley, KS. He is preceded in death by parents Clarence and Pauline Koon and brothers Leroy Koon, Wayne Koon, Jack Koon and Wilber Koon.

Larry was born on May 12, 1941 in Kingman, KS. He had many accomplishments and community activities that included teaching for 50 years, active in Lions Club, and spent many volunteer hours for both RSVP and Special Olympics. Larry loved spending time with his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery Salina on Thursday October 8 at 2:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer Education and Support of Salina. In honor of Larry's love for peanut butter and jelly, we will be doing a collection of those items at the graveside to donate to the Salina Food Bank.

Doris Louise Christian, 92, of Salina, died October 3, 2020. She was born Dec. 28, 1927 to Axel and Mabel (Gustafson) Swenson in Salina, Ks. Her early years were spent on a farm near Bavaria. The family later moved to the Solomon, KS. area where Doris attended the local schools, graduating in 1945 from Solomon High School.

After graduation, she took secretarial positions with Kent Oil, Co and later, with Great Plains Insurance Company; where she would meet her future husband, C.L. "Chris" Christian. They were married on Valentine's Day, 1947 and had 58 wonderful years together before Chris passed away on Nov. 12, 2005. Doris worked for the law firm of Norton, Wasserman, Jones &amp; Kelly for many years, retiring in 2014.

She and Chris were very active in the Shrine Temple, where she was a member of Felicity Chapter #371, O.E.S.; the Salina Elks Lodge, Salina Country Club and she spent many years as an election volunteer.

Doris is survived by her nephews, Greg (Diane) Swenson and Kevin (Jill) Swenson, all of New Cambria.

Friends may call at Ryan Mortuary on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from noon until 5 p.m. There will be graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mary Venters, 85, died on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Wichita County Health 
Center in Leoti. She was born on January 20, 1935, at Alamota the 
daughter of Ralph Franklin &amp; Mary Maude (McGreevy) Heath. She 
married Eugene Venters on May 16, 1953, at Dighton. 
Mary attended Alamota Grade School and graduated from Dighton High 
School in 1953. She worked as a Secretary at Lane County Feeders from 
1976 to 1996. She was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church of Dighton
 and TOPS. She loved being a mother and grandmother. 
She is survived by her Children- Theresa (Rick) Anderson of Prescott 
Valley, Arizona, Bob (Bonnie) Venters of Dighton, Joann (Bill) Penka of 
Dighton, Galen (Deena) Venters of Lamonte, Missouri, Linda France of 
Leoti, Tim Venters of Dighton &amp; Kathy (Chris) Burlew of Salina,

Grandchildren and numerous Great-Grandchilden. She was preceded in

married Eugene Venters on May 16, 1953, at Dighton. 
Mary attended Alamota Grade School and graduated from Dighton High 
School in 1953. She worked as a Secretary at Lane County Feeders from 
1976 to 1996. She was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church of Dighton
 and TOPS. She loved being a mother and grandmother. 
She is survived by her Children- Theresa (Rick) Anderson of Prescott 
Valley, Arizona, Bob (Bonnie) Venters of Dighton, Joann (Bill) Penka of 
Dighton, Galen (Deena) Venters of Lamonte, Missouri, Linda France of 
Leoti, Tim Venters of Dighton &amp; Kathy (Chris) Burlew of Salina, 
Brother- John Heath of Dighton, Sister- Virginia Jasper of Dighton, 23 
Grandchildren and numerous Great-Grandchilden. She was preceded in 
death by her Parents, Son- Bill Venters and 4 Brothers- Raymond Heath, 
Francis Heath, Tommy Heath &amp; Clarence Heath. 
There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM Monday at St Theresa Catholic 
Church in Dighton with Rev Warren Stecklein as Celebrant. . Memorials

October 3, 2020, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the 
age of 97.

She was born June 18, 1923, in Sayre, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edgar V. and Merle Elizabeth (Addis) McCamon.

Survivors include her daughter Betty Still and husband Robert of 
rural Kirwin, KS; her son Ray Miller and wife Lorene of Claremore, OK; 5
 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a 
brother Bill McCamon and wife Joan of Amarillot, TX; and a sister Sue 
Weaver and husband Joe of Garden City, KS.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the
 Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Michael 
Ricci-Roberts officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 in 
the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, OK.&nbsp; Arrangements for graveside services

Alice Faye VanMatre

Larry Dean Gillett,77, was born August 3, 1943 in Beloit, Kansas to Douglas and Marguerite (Thompson) Gillett and passed away September 30, 2020 at his twin sister, Sandra’s, home.

Larry was a 1961 graduate of Burr Oak High School. He attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelors of Science degree in meteorology and a minor in business.

He enlisted with the Air Force on Oct 15, 1965 and was released with honors on June 4, 1969 at the rank of Sergeant E4 after serving our country in Vietnam. While serving in Vietnam, Larry was the meteorologist. Larry was so dedicated to his weather works, he stayed behind at Da Nang when everyone else left the camp because of a potential threat. Larry felt responsible for the pilot’s safety as they were very dependent on his weather reports. The camp was attacked, and much to everyone’s surprise, when arriving back the following day, Larry was still alive, but the rest of the camp had been completely destroyed. His “fox hole” was the only thing intact with Larry safely inside.

Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Louise Gillett.

&nbsp; Charles Roger Lindblade, 90, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 8:40 a.m., Saturday, October 3rd, peacefully, at McPherson Hospital. Roger was born on his parents farm, rural McPherson, Kansas on November 18, 1929, a son of Mable Matilda (Johnson) and Charles Arthur Lindblade. Roger attended North Union Country school through the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1947. He was a member of New Gottland Covenant Church McPherson, Kansas, where he served as usher for many years. Charles Roger Lindblade was united in marriage to Rosellen M. Straka on July 10, 1955 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and one daughter, Michael, Kenneth, and Judy. Rosellen died on May 24, 2020. He honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Pfc. Roger was a Pipefitter at National Cooperative Refinery Association now known as CHS McPherson, Kansas for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24, and the Kiwanis Club both of McPherson, Kansas. Roger enjoyed walking, playing golf, reading, working crossword puzzles, building model ships, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Roger is survived by his children, Michael Owen Lindblade, of McPherson, Kansas, Kenneth Dean Lindblade, of McPherson, Kansas, and Judy Ellen Moore and husband Steve, of Olathe, Kansas; his three grandchildren, Lindsey Moore, Abbie Geissler and husband Tyler and Grant Moore; one great-grandson, Noah Geissler; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Bill was born on February 21, 1930, at Asbury Hospital in Salina, KS to Ross and Nettie Anderson. He passed away following a brief illness, surrounded by his family, in the same hospital. Bill graduated from Roxbury High School in 1948, attended McPherson College, and then was drafted into the army and served two years as an industrial arts teacher at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. With his father disabled by polio, he started farming at a very young age and continued working the family farm alongside his elder son and grandsons until a short time before his death. He also worked 37 years at the National Cooperative Refinery Association in McPherson, KS, before retiring. He met Juanita (Ade) Anderson at a movie in Roxbury, KS, and they were married on June 7, 1953, at the Roxbury United Methodist Church. During their 67 years of marriage, they raised two sons, William T. (“Tim”) Anderson of Roxbury, KS, and Dr. Terry Anderson of Kansas City, MO. He loved woodworking, metal working, and machinery repair. While soft-spoken, he was well known for a fast, wry wit, and an extraordinarily kind spirit. His great love was for his family. In addition to his wife and sons, he was blessed with two grandsons, Scott and Shawn, both of Roxbury, KS, whom he mentored as children and who repaid him with years of love, respect, and care. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Bobby, Don, and Daryl, and his sister, Betty Hutchins. Because of the challenges of the times, the immediate family will have a graveside memorial service. William B. (“Bill”) Anderson

Cheryl A. Warner, 56, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Great Bend, KS. She was born January 6, 1964 in Ellinwood, KS to Kenneth and Mary (Haley) Barta.

A longtime resident of Holyrood, Cheryl worked for nearly 30 years on the financial services team at Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS. She married Weldon “Gene” Warner in Ellsworth in June of 1981.

Clara Jane (CJ) Shannon, 88, Fishers, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on

Friday, October 2, 2020, at the Northridge Retirement Community.&nbsp; CJ was born in Miltonvale, Kansas on October 10, 1931 to Charles and Eunice Sharp.&nbsp; On November 22, 1951 she married Elvis Edward (Ed) L. Shannon.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She graduated from Miltonvale High school and attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and also Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp; CJ supported her husband who farmed fulltime in Miltonvale, Kansas and raised five daughters.&nbsp; CJ loved the Lord; she loved her family and she loved people.&nbsp; She devoted her life to serving others and substituted taught a number of years in public schools in Miltonvale, KS and worked for Browns Clothing Store in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She attended FC Hill Memorial Church in Miltonvale and was a faithful servant of the Lord, where she taught CYC and Sunday School, preformed solos, and led congregational singing at her church.&nbsp; She loved children and wanted them to know Jesus.&nbsp;

In May, 2002 CJ and Ed retired and moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado where CJ richly enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and family nearby.&nbsp; She had a real zest for life, fun and games, shopping, and became an avid sports fan, especially fond of the Colorado Rockies, where she could name all the players. In February, 2017 CJ and Ed moved to Fishers, Indiana because of health needs and more simple living desires.&nbsp;

Bill's life began on May 10, 1960 in Pampa, Texas.  He was the son of Robert and Linda (Baggerman) Alkire. 

 Bill was a 1979 graduate of Ulysses High School. 

 He drove truck for oil field supply companies and worked as a laborer before he became disabled. 

 Bill loved to tinker with cars and rebuilt many engines in his spare time. 

He is survived by his mother Linda Alkire of Marion, siblings Sheila Thouvenell of Marion, Elizabeth Alkire of Marion, and Kenny Alkire of Stillwater OK, a daughter Brandy Birkett of Louisiana and grandson Immanuel and several nieces and nephews.  

Bill passed away on October 1, 2020 at Hillsboro Community Hospital. 

 He is preceded in death by his father Robert.  

His family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion where his funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. led by Pastor Carl Helm. William Dean Alkire

&nbsp; Christy May Druse, 50, born Aug. 18, 1970, passed Sept. 28, 2020. Christy was born on the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation in Whiteriver, Ariz., to Henry and Bessey White. Her birth name was Merle Ann White. Christy was born with a host of medical issues and as a result was brought off the reservation and placed in the foster care of Thomas and Claudette Druse.

The Druse family immediately fell in love with her and as a result filed a petition to adopt her. It is a very rare instance for a family not belonging to the tribe to be able to adopt, however with the help of many professional people, the love of the Druse family and the Grace of God, we were blessed by the White family and the White Mountain Apache Tribe with the adoption. And so Merle Ann White became Christy May Druse.

Christy grew up as an Army brat long with her two older brothers Tom and Richard. They moved from Arizona to San Antonio, Texas. Upon Thomas's retirement from the Army in 1977, they moved to Enid, Okla. 

Christy attended school in Enid and Kremlin, Okla., graduating from Kremlin High School. She took a course at O.T. Autry Vo-Tech in culinary and worked in the foodservice industry ending up at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid campus cafeteria. 

Christy loved the outdoors and spent many days fishing with her family especially with her dad in their secret spots. 

Christy loved rock music especially the band Kiss and as a result, went to many concerts to include four Kiss concerts with her brother Tom. 

Christy enjoyed going to the casinos with her family and just overall enjoyed life even towards the end as the medical issues slowed her down. She enjoyed many trips to Arizona to visit her Apache family, most recently with her boyfriend and companion Greg Nusz. 

Christy is survived by her father Thomas Lee Druse of Enid; four brothers, Thomas Ray Druse, Richard Lee Druse, both of Enid, Paul White Israel and Bernard White, both of Whiteriver, Ariz; four sisters, Lucivia Colelay, Anabel Riley, Jeanette Cosay and Carol Hawkins, all of Whiteriver, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews and even more great nieces and nephews; boyfriend and companion, Greg Nusz. 

Christy was preceded in death by her mother, Claudette Kay Druse; birthparents, Henry and Bessey White.

She was a member of many clubs and groups, but her passion was in crafting, oil painting, bowling, and working with Lawrence on their H0 Model Train layout. She enjoyed her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death: Her parents, Sister Marjorie Emig, Brothers Keith and Alvin Beadleston. Surviving are her daughter: Sharon (Jim) Adee, Grandchildren: Ashley (Dave) Shively, Ryan (Trina) Adee, Great Grandchildren: Braden Anguiano, Katelyn Shively, Slade Adee, Drake Adee, Jasmine Arnold, Summer Arnold.
