Troy Jay Johnson passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 on the Johnson’s Family Farm. He was born October 31, 1959 in Herington, Kansas, the son of Elmer Allen and Jessie Louise (Ayers) Johnson. Troy graduated from Herington High School in 1978 and attended Dodge City Community College for 2 years where he played football. Troy was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad when he retired and loved to farm.
Survivors include his son, Mitch Johnson (Paige) of Kyle, Texas; two brothers, Todd Johnson of Mont Belvieu, Texas and Tim Johnson (Janette) of Austin, Texas; Julie Newbury, a lifelong partner of Herington, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Troy was 61 years old.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Herington. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 11:00 a.m. at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Herington, Kansas. Graveside service will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
