Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Sankey of Belleville, KS, age 82, died September 30, 2020 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS. She was born on September 10, 1938 to Norbert and Margaret Habiger in Concordia, KS. She was raised in Republic, Kansas and graduated from Republic High School in 1956. Beth continued her education at Fort Hays State University and completed her Bachelor of Science in education from Kansas University in 1960.

She married Don LeRoy Sankey on August 20, 1960 and taught in the Munden School District for one year. Soon after, the couple moved to Republic where Don opened his own repair shop, and welcomed the arrival of Ronald, born on June 18, 1961. When Ron was in first grade, Beth went back to work teaching in the Republic schools and taught kindergarten for one year and then transferred to high school English. She directed many plays during her teaching career in Republic and enjoyed her students greatly.

Republic was home for the Sankeys for many years. Both Beth's parents, Norb and Margaret, Don's parents, John and Edna Sankey, and brother and sister-in-law Norman and Helen Sankey were within shouting distance, not to mention, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends. The couple loved to entertain.&nbsp;

In 1970 the couple purchased the Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealership in Belleville, called Sankey Motors. She continued teaching and also kept books for the dealership for several years and they moved to Belleville in 1993. Her favorite pastime was reading, but coming close were knitting, cross-stitching, sewing and crafting.&nbsp; Her bridge club, known as the "Mothers' Night Out" group, enjoyed years of entertainment at their husbands' expense.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Jim Habiger.

Survivors include son Ron and wife Lori of Garden City, granddaughter Jade Sankey of Jacksonville, FL, and grandson and wife Jon and Nikki Sankey and great-granddaughter Millie Sankey of Panama City Beach, FL, two sisters-in-law Joan Sankey Free of Cleveland, OK, and Jeanette Habiger of Shell Knob, MO, in addition to four nieces and one nephew.

Memorials are requested to the NCK Healthcare Foundation or the Belleville Public Library and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at Lake Cemetery in Republic on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.

Eric Wendall Herman, age 62, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS.&nbsp; 

Charles and Leota (Nitsch) Herman welcomed Eric into this world on July 27, 1958, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Eric was welcomed by siblings Doug, Sandra and Anna. Eric’s younger brother, Kenneth Charles was born just 15 months later.

 Together the Hermans moved from Ardmore to Lafayette, Louisiana in 1962 where he attended kindergarten. The family then moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 1964, where Eric attended first grade. In 1965 the family settled in Concordia, Kansas. Concordia was a strategic move for the Herman family because it allowed Charles to work in town at the junior high school while still being close to Lincoln County, home of the family’s farm. This allowed Charles, Leota and the children to spend time helping as farm hands. Eric enjoyed this very much and some of his fondest memories were times spent on the farm over weekends and summers. This is where Eric learned many skills and the value of a hard day’s work. Visiting the farm also meant a great deal to him because he was spending time with his family, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He treasured these times, often sharing stories at length to anyone who would listen.

Eric enjoyed and excelled in many athletic endeavors. In middle school he found a love of basketball and distance running that he embraced the rest of his life. &nbsp;Eric finished the remainder of his school in Concordia, lettering in basketball, track and cross country. He graduated in 1976 and began his studies at Cloud County Community College. Eric married Jerilyn Chaput in 1978. Their family slowly grew as Eric pursued his career goals. Eric and Jeri had four children together, Aaron, Erica, Jared, and Garrett, whom Eric loved and adored.

After Eric graduated from Kansas State in 1980, he began his career with ABF freight as a dock manager. In 1982 he took an opportunity in sales at Hallmark Cards which turned into a 16 year career with the company that saw him rise from his position in retail sales to director of human resources for the northeast and gave his family the opportunity to live in many communities across the country.

In 2002, Eric and Jeri ended their marriage and Eric found new hope in Dallas, Texas. Eric began this new chapter of his life as vice president of marketing at Monarch Dental. After many successful years Eric decided to leave the corporate world. Eric started consulting for businesses in the Dallas area, as well as rehabbing homes in the north Dallas and Fort Worth areas. 

During this time Eric met and married Rebecca Davis. A desire to be near the water led Eric and Becky to the south Texas coast where Eric went back to school and earned his teaching certificate. He began teaching eighth grade math in San Benito, Texas. 

Eric settled into a historic home which he loving restored for his semi-retirement in Bonham, Texas. He kept himself busy with multiple projects such as his love of woodworking, gardening, and work around the home. Eric also enjoyed his annual pheasant hunting trip with his uncle, cousins, sons, nephew and friends in Lincoln County. In his later life Eric found a passion for sailing and when able, loved to be on the open water.

While Eric had an extensive and diverse work history he was not defined by his career. He first and foremost was a loving father who took pride in seeing his children succeed in their endeavors and was often involved as a coach, sponsor, or volunteer. Beyond being a father but almost equally defining for him is his faith instilled in him by his parents and nurtured by many church families across the country. Since he was a child Eric was very involved in church activities which included being a choir member, Sunday school teacher, youth group sponsor and church deacon. Eric took great pride that his example led his children into leading Christ-centered lives.

He is survived by his children; Aaron Herman (Erin), Concordia, KS, Erica Quave (Brandon), McKinney, TX, Jared Herman (Joii), Lodi, CA &amp; Garrett Herman (Becca), Frisco, TX; his parents, Charles &amp; Leota Herman, Concordia, KS; brother, Doug Herman (Kathy), Concordia, KS; sisters, Sandra Church (Ken), Lansing, KS &amp; Anna Mason (Richard), Concordia, KS and nine grandchildren Emma, Faith, Easton, Abby, Isaac, Anders, Evelyn, Hazel and George Landry.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Charles Herman, in 1967.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS with Matthew Carder officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.&nbsp;

Edmond “Ed” D. Gaumond, 43, of Chapman, passed away Monday, April 4, 2021. He was born August 30, 1977 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Edmond W. Gaumond and stepmother Jennifer Gaumond. 

In 1998 he enlisted in the United States Army. He retired from the Army in 2017, serving 19 years 9 months. On February 13, 2015, he was united in marriage to Amanda Parrish in Abilene, Kansas. Ed was a member of the Chapman American Legion Post 240. 

He is survived by his loving wife Amanda of the home. Children: Adam Gaumond (Vicky); Eddie Gaumond (Samantha); Benjamin Gaumond; Mia Guamond; Hope Gaumond; Catherine Mitchell; and April Mitchell. Grandchildren: Effie Austin; Daxon Gaumond; Edmond Gaumond; and Owen Gaumond. His dad and stepmother, Edmond and Jennifer Gaumond. Stepbrothers, Sean Lee and Justin Lee and his mother-in-law, Kerry Ware. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene. 

The family has chosen cremation. A celebration of life service with military honors will be held 1:00 p.m.., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman.

Edmond Gaumond

Eugene H. Hurd, age 94, died on Sunday, April 6, 2021, at the St. 
Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on August 27, 
1926, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of John and Mary Thomas Hurd.

He graduated from Garden City, High School and served his country 
during World War II in the Army Air corps.&nbsp; He was married to Sonnehilda
 Behrens until she passed away in 1966.&nbsp; He later married Leona Ochs 
until her passing in 2001.&nbsp; Gene was also a member of Trinity Lutheran 
Church and the Eagles Lodge both of Garden City, Kansas.

Gene owned and operated the Phillips 66 on Fifth and Kansas for a 
number of years before working as a dispatcher for the Kansas Highway 
Patrol, working at Fansler Tires, and workign security at the Finney 
County IBP plant.

Survivors include:&nbsp;Two Sons - Phil (Connie) Hurd of Salina, 
Kansas,&nbsp;Dan (Jo) Hurd of Rozel, Kansas;&nbsp;One Stepson - Mark (Cindy) 
Hawkins;&nbsp;Two Stepdaughters - Deb (Jim) Hall,&nbsp;Lori Frame;&nbsp;12 
grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his two sons, Tim Hurd and Mike Hurd; one stepson, Mike Hawkins; one daughter, Shelley Hurd.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Eugene H. Hurd, age 94, died on Sunday, April 6, 2021, at the St. 
Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on August 27, 
1926, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of John and Mary Thomas Hurd.He graduated from Garden City, High School and served his country 
during World War II in the Army Air corps.&nbsp; He was married to Sonnehilda
 Behrens until she passed away in 1966.&nbsp; He later married Leona Ochs 
until her passing in 2001.&nbsp; Gene was also a member of Trinity Lutheran 
Church and the Eagles Lodge both of Garden City, Kansas.Gene owned and operated the Phillips 66 on Fifth and Kansas for a 
number of years before working as a dispatcher for the Kansas Highway 
Patrol, working at Fansler Tires, and workign security at the Finney 
County IBP plant.Survivors include:&nbsp;Two Sons - Phil (Connie) Hurd of Salina, 
Kansas,&nbsp;Dan (Jo) Hurd of Rozel, Kansas;&nbsp;One Stepson - Mark (Cindy) 
Hawkins;&nbsp;Two Stepdaughters - Deb (Jim) Hall,&nbsp;Lori Frame;&nbsp;12

Lawrence A. “Larry” Dreiling, 65, Catharine, died Monday, April 5, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 17, 1955, in Hays,
 the son of Lawrence J. “Larry” and Norma Jean (Urban) Dreiling.&nbsp; In 
1973, he graduated from Hays High School.&nbsp; He was an oilfield pumper, 
owning and operating Larry Dreiling Pumping, and he invented and 
designed gauge sticks for oilfield tanks.&nbsp; On November 11, 1977, he was 
united in marriage to Glady J. Dorzweiler in Catharine, and they 
celebrated 20 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on 
October 24, 1997.&nbsp; On December 26, 2003, he was united in marriage to 
Anita (Kinderknecht) Fisher, and they celebrated 17 years of marriage.&nbsp; 
His memberships include St. Catherine Catholic Church, St. Catherine 
Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #11687, where he was Past Grand
 Knight, and the Bishop Cunningham Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of 
Columbus, where he was Past Faithful Navigator.&nbsp; He was an entrepreneur,
 a jack-of-all-trades, enjoyed woodworking, and he would easily manage 
multiple projects simultaneously.&nbsp; Larry was very welcoming, caring, and
 possessed a wonderful smile, knew people wherever he traveled, had an 
exceptional memory, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Anita of 
Catharine, his father and mother-in-law: Leo and Viola Dorzweiler of 
Catharine, two sons: Matt Dreiling and wife Renee of Hays &nbsp;and Adam 
Fisher and wife Erica of Hays, five daughters: Joannie Kollman and 
husband Andy of Catharine, Shannon Dreiling and significant other Andrew
 Burkhart of Hays, Angie Dorzweiler and husband Steve of Salina, Laura 
Waldschmidt and husband Chris of Overland Park, and Paula Mattison and 
husband Brady of Shawnee, two brothers: Alex J. Dreiling and wife Shari 
and John J. Dreiling and wife Bonnie all of Hays, two sisters: Linda 
Pfannenstiel and husband A.J. of Hays, and Janie Dorzweiler of 
Catharine, 14 grandchildren: Kenneth Waldschmidt, Bryan Waldschmidt, 
Gracyn Dorzweiler, Leo Dorzweiler, Kenny Fisher, Joey Fisher, Coraline 
Mattison, Ethan Dreiling, Allison Dreiling, Madison Adams, Hayden Adams,
 Kaylee Kollman, Gladyn Kollman, and Zendai’ah Yarbrough, his brothers 
and sisters-in-law: Carol Schryer and husband Mark of Ellis, Dan 
Kinderknecht and wife Vicky of Chandler, AZ, Floyd Kinderknecht and wife
 Loretta of Ellis, Brian Kinderknecht and wife Silvia of Bracketville,

wife Roxie of Catharine, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his wife: Glady, his father-in-law: Richard Kinderknecht, his 
mother-in-law: Anna Rita Weber, two brothers-in-law: Harold Dorzweiler 
and Leo Steven Dorzweiler, and a sister-in-law: Babs Kinderknecht.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Friday, April 9, 2021 at St. Catherine Catholic Church.&nbsp; 
Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 
3:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and 
from 8:30 am until service time on Friday at the church.&nbsp; The Fourth 
Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 5:30 pm until 
6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30 pm, followed by a combined Third 
and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary, all on Thursday at the 
funeral home.&nbsp;

Lawrence A. 'Larry' Dreiling

Richard A. (Dick) Woodall was born September 20, 1925 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Lester V. Woodall and Maureen (Concannon) Woodall.&nbsp; He passed Saturday April 03, 2021 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.

He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1943.&nbsp; Like many of his generation Dick served in the United States Army serving in the Army Air Corps.&nbsp; After his honorable discharge, he proceeded with a post-secondary education and met Helen Franklin at Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; They were married July 20, 1947 in Hutchinson, Kansas. His college education continued at Pittsburg State College graduating in 1951.&nbsp; He later earned a master’s degree in Counseling from Fort Hays University.&nbsp; A career as an educator and Coach in Kansas began in 1951 at Haven and then Paradise, WaKeeney, Wheatland High School, Ness City and Hutchinson Community College.

Throughout his life Dick loved music and especially Barbershop music. He was a member of several Barbershop Quartets and was active in choruses as well for over 70 years.&nbsp; In addition to music, his interests included athletics, especially basketball, golf and lake activities. His favorite times were with family especially 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Following a career in education Dick began a second career in Financial Planning and Life Insurance with Waddell and Reed, Edward D. Jones and Principal Financial Group.

He is survived by: daughter Kathy Dietz (Larry) of WaKeeney, son Joel Woodall (Nanette) of Salina, Kansas, and daughter Marcia Lance (Rick) of Olathe, Kansas; Granddaughters Alisa Odell (Ted) of Prairie Village, Kansas, Nikki Daubert (Ryan) of WaKeeney,&nbsp; Kelli Lance (Brandon Truta) of Overland Park, Kansas; Grandsons Ryan Woodall of Denver, Colorado;&nbsp; Kurt Dietz (Brandy) of Overland Park, Kansas, Bryce Woodall (Ryann) of Salina, Kansas, and Joel Lance (Jessica) of Gardner, Kansas; 17 Great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Spicer (Herb) of Silver Spring, Maryland, Janet Heitmann (Dan) of Hutchinson, Kansas, Karen Foyle (Bob) of Richardson, Texas, and Linda Ging (Bob) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and a special companion, Frances Michaelis of WaKeeney.

A funeral service in honor of Dick’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 12th, 2021, at the WaKeeney United Methodist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, WaKeeney.&nbsp;

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and nine half-siblings, Russel, Glen, Dorothy, Albert, Carl, Marjorie, Clyde, Richard, and Paul "Bud."

Myrna M. Joy was born on October 18, 1928, the daughter of Henry F. &amp; Ella Mae (King) Novak. Myrna was born near Narka, and graduated from Narka High School, class of 1946.

Myrna was united in marriage to Wesley Vaughn Joy on June 28, 1951, in Belleville, and to this union of 24 years, four sons were born.

She was an avid sports fan, following her grandchildren’s sports as they were growing up, and she was a fan of the Royals, Chiefs, Wildcats and Jayhawks. Myrna enjoyed attending Belleville High School sports.

Myrna passed away on April 1, 2021, in Belleville, at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Myrna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wesley Joy in 1975, and brother Kenneth Novak.

She will be forever remembered by her sons, Evan (wife Mary) of Downs; Allen (wife Jana) of Topeka; Bryan (wife Cindy) of Manhattan, Sylvan (partner William) of Overland Park. Myrna is also survived by her grandchildren; Julie, Jenny, Jama, Jody, Krista, Jason, Shawn, Brigham, Miranda, Wesley, Hillary, Gillian and Margaret, and her 25 great grandchildren.

Allison’s time with her mother was sadly cut short at the age of 5 after both her mother and younger brother passed away during childbirth.

On August 15, 1990, Allison married Harvey Mikulecky in Ellsworth, KS. She was so proud to have accomplished 30 years of marriage with him. Together they raised three sons that eventually gave them a handful of grandchildren that she spent countless hours spoiling. She thoroughly enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and collecting panda bears. Together, Harvey and Allison were proud business owners of Chase Wind Energy Solutions. Their work allowed them to travel all throughout the United States and gave them the experience of a lifetime constantly getting to see new places.

Curtis was born in Salina, Kansas on May 9, 1957, a son of Maxine (Moses) and Curtis V. Crough. Curtis attended the Salina grade schools and graduated from Salina Central High School, Salina, Kansas in 1975. Curtis Keith Crough was united in marriage to Lisa Jo Kaiser on October 15, 1983 at McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, Lacey and Allison. Curtis worked for Dillon's for 42 years retiring as Produce Manager in 2017. He started as a volunteer with the McPherson Gymnastics Club in 2000 and soon took on the role of a coach. He later became the director of gymnastics through the McPherson YMCA. Curtis loved baseball, baseball, baseball! He enjoyed old movies, listening to music, reading, listening to Rush Limbaugh with out fail every weekday, working crossword puzzles, coaching baseball and gymnastics, going to the drag races to watch his son-in-law, and attending his children's and grandchildren's activities and spending time with his family. She worked as an E.M. data reviewer at Pfizer of McPherson and as an assistant softball coach for Lindsborg Smoky Valley High School. Devon was born on June 1, 1983, in Lindsborg, KS, the daughter of Dennis Jeffrey and Jazell SusAnn (Scott) Bersuch. She attended McPherson schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 2001. She participated in numerous sports, including volleyball, basketball, and softball throughout middle school and high school. At an early age, Devon portrayed caretaking traits that naturally led her to her first job at Angel Arms where she began working as a home healthcare provider during high school. She was employed in this role until shortly after graduating high school, and then she started her life-long career at Pfizer. She established her home in Roxbury, KS where she met the father of her wonderful daughters Madison Tolle (age 16), Rylie Tolle (age 13) and Samantha Tolle (age 10). She started playing softball at a young age on the Lady Express softball team of McPherson, and later fulfilled the role as a volunteer coach, for her own children and numerous other young softball players. Her passion of softball carried over into her girls love for the sport. Horse riding was another passion of Devon’s that she enjoyed doing with her girls, along with camping, fishing and spending time at the lake with her family. Her other interests included going to the dirt track races, cheering on the Kansas City Royals and Dallas Cowboys, and family vacations to Colorado. She was a member of Roxbury United Parish. The church held a special place in her heart through many family connections. She enjoyed attending services and activities at the church with her family. Visiting with Roxbury family and friends at Scott’s Well Service was something she loved doing. Devon selflessly devoted herself to those around her whether it be family, friends, or co-workers, but most importantly her girls by giving them the best life possible through adventures, sports, hobbies, spending time with family, living life to its fullest and always being there for them no matter what. She rarely missed a ball game, school event, and faced all adversity with ease and grace. James L. “Jim” Bettles was born May 7, 1942 near Delavan Kansas the son of Jessie and Marjorie (Platz) Bettles. He grew up in the Wilsey area and graduated from Wilsey High School. On April 5, 1970 he married Patricia Ann Harrison in Abilene. Jim and Patricia made their home in Enterprise where Jim worked for CE/ABB and worked as a part time policeman. Following the closing of CE/ABB, Jim became the police chief of Enterprise where he retired after receiving recognition for 25 years of dedicated service. He was very well respected and honored in his community. Jim was an ornery man who had no shortage of jokes, keys hanging from his belt loop, embellished fish stories and a smile for everyone he met. Jim was a longstanding member of the Shriners/Masons Society as well as the Lions Club. Jim loved fishing, hunting, camping, playing pool and watching sports. He is survived by his children Roger Brock of Herington, Debra (Ryan) Elder of Hope, Sheryl Ward of Abilene, and Michael (Penny) Bettles of Salina, sisters Juanita Roberts of Council Grove, Karen Redding of Waverly, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia in 2006 and his son Steven Bettles in 2009, and his parents Jessie and Marjorie Bettles. Funeral services for Jim will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Jeffrey Dean “Jeff” Scott, 66, of Roxbury passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Salina Regional Health Center.  Jeff was born July 23, 1954 in Salina, KS to the late Aldon “Scottie” and the late Retha (Anderson) Scott.  

Jeff married Amy Johnson on October 14, 1973 in Roxbury.  He was the owner and operator of Scott’s Well Service. Jeff was also a past member of the township board and the water and sewer board for Roxbury.

He is survived by his wife: Amy, of the home; daughter: Nicole Birkes of McPherson, KS; son: A.J. Scott (Diedre) of Roxbury, KS; sisters: Jolene Hilty of McPherson, KS, Janis Ellis of Lindsborg, KS, Jill Scott of McPherson, KS, and Jazell Bersuch of McPherson, KS; brother: Jay Scott of Roxbury, KS; grandchildren: Kirk Barnes, Mia Birkes, Zane Scott, Hank Birkes, Tinley Scott, Wyatt Scott, and Emily Flora; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Jennifer Jantz.

Phyllis was born in McPherson, Kansas on August 1, 1930, a daughter of Mildred Helene (Casstevens) and Lester A. Brown. Phyllis attended Roosevelt grade school, McPherson Junior High, and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas, in 1948. She then attended one year at McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, before transferring to Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kansas, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, McPherson, Kansas. Phyllis was baptized upon her confession of faith at McPherson Methodist Episcopal Church and transferred to First Mennonite Church after her marriage to Lyle. She served the church singing in the choir, teaching an adult Sunday school class, and was Chairman of Trustees for eight years. Phyllis was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she worked in her Dad's grocery store till senior year and then went to work at Hubel's Drug Store and Miller's Printing and Book Store. She later worked at Hinkles Department Store, McPherson Citizen's State Bank in the bookkeeping department, McPherson Farm Sale Barn, and Sterling-Winthrop Pharmaceutical retiring from Sanofi Drug. She was a member of Tri-Delta, Beta Omicron Sorority, Hospice, and Trustee at MCDS for 6 years. Phyllis enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, race walking, and spending time with her family and friends. She also volunteered her time and talent with Hospice, the Red Cross and MCDS. Phyllis June Brown was united in marriage to Lyle Gene Goering on September 15, 1950 at McPherson, Kansas. Georgia Faye Goodheart, 92, of Beloit passed away Tuesday, March 9th at the Mitchell County hospital.

She was born to parents Elbert W. and Eula Maude (Genson) Morrison in Corning, IA on February 13, 1929.&nbsp; The family moved back to Missouri before she was 2 years old.

Georgia, as she was called when young, grew up on a farm near Plattsburg, MO.&nbsp; She graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1947.&nbsp; After high school she lived and worked in St Joseph, MO including jobs at a candy factory and a factory which made Christmas tree lights.

Faye, as she was called for most of her adult life, moved to Russell, KS and worked as a book keeper at the local Studebaker dealership and later the local Cadillac dealership.&nbsp; It was in Russell that she met William H. Goodheart.&nbsp; They were married September 22, 1956.

After living in Russell, Bill and Faye moved, to follow Bill's career, to Prairie View and Beloit, KS, then to Sioux Falls, SD before moving to Rapid City, SD, where they made their home for 32 years.

Faye was active in her churches, helping with funeral dinners and bible studies, especially at Trinity Lutheran while they lived in Rapid City.

She had a great love and talent for sewing.&nbsp; For many years she made most of her family's clothes, including even Bill's suit coats and pants.

In their retirement Bill and Faye were volunteers with the Pennington County Sheriff's department community volunteer program and they enjoyed a few years traveling in the southwest in their 5th wheel camper during winter months.

In 2010, due to declining health, Bill and Faye moved to the Hilltop Lodge Independent Living facility in Beloit, KS to be closer to family.&nbsp; Faye had been living the last couple of years in the Hilltop Assisted Living facility.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband Bill, in 2012, her parents, her brother Elbert, Jr (Bill) and sister-in-law, Lois (Faye) Morrison.

She is survived by her son Todd (Lisa) of Glen Elder, nieces Sherry Farwell (Howard), Kathy Ralston (Trevor) and Kristy Morrison, and nephew Scott Morrison, all of Kansas City, MO, also in-law nephews and cousins on the Goodheart family side, and many friends in all the places she'd lived.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Summer Kids Cafe.

Marlene Ann Corpstein was born in Tipton, Kansas, on August 5, 1936, the fifth of the seven children of Leo and Margaret (Koenigsman) Corpstein. She passed peacefully with family by her side at the age of 84 at the Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas, on April 2, 2021, after a lengthy, valiant bout with colon cancer.

Marlene graduated from Tipton High School in 1954. After graduation she worked for Hallmark Cards in Topeka. In 1956 she was hired by Southwestern Bell and moved to Wichita. After her 35-year career in management with Bell, now AT&amp;T, Marlene retired. She and her close circle of friends were avid Shocker fans and enjoyed the many activities of the Wichita Ski Club. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad.

In 2013, Marlene moved to Tipton to be closer to family. She loved being involved in all aspects of farming, especially harvest times. She artfully decorated her home for every season and took great pride in her summer lawn and flowers. Some favorites of Marlene were reading, fishing, golfing, deer season, playing Texas Hold-em, and going to garage sales and the casino. But most important to her were all family activities and gatherings. Marlene’s love for her family and faith were central to her life. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society.

Marlene was beautiful both in spirit and in demeanor. Her kindness, warmth and generosity made her a special friend to many. Her nieces and nephews will cherish “Aunt Marlene” forever.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Monday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit, and a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Tipton Schools.

Gene's life began on October 26, 1925 in Lewistown, MT.&nbsp; He was the son of LeClair William Winfield Obee and Ora Elizabeth (Oursler) Obee.&nbsp; Gene was a 1942 graduate of Burns High School and attended the University of Kansas.&nbsp; He served his country proudly during World War II from November of 1943 until November of 1945 and was a POW. He was united in marriage to the former Marie Melson of April 4, 1948 in Burns. &nbsp;

Gene was in business with his father, and brother with he and his brother working together 29 years.&nbsp; He later worked for the Burns Co-Op and Walton.&nbsp; Gene attended the Burns Community Church (formerly the United Methodist Church), belonged to the American Legion and the 99 Division Association, and supported the POW/MIA organization.&nbsp; He was also the long-time caretaker and record keeper of the Burns Cemetery and very involved in the Burns community.&nbsp; 

His greatest joy was his family which includes his children Donald (Cindy) Obee of Emporia, and Cheryl (Stanley) Smith of Emporia; grandchildren Chad (Danielle) Smith, Kristi Smith, Traci (Joe) Hekele, Erin (Henry) Volante, and Landon (Jenny) Obee; twelve grandchildren, "bonus" daughter Phoebe Janzen and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

Gene passed away on April 1, 2021 at NMC Health in Newton.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marie, daughter in law Dayla, brothers Frederick and Hugh and sisters Dorothy Smith and Ruth Ott.&nbsp; 

His family will gather with friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Burns Community Church where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday led by Pastors Steve Hysom and Jim Helzer.&nbsp; Gene will be laid to rest in the cemetery he lovingly cared for following the service.&nbsp;
