Lois (Meyer) Swiercinsky was born January 21, 1951 to Rev. A.L. and Arlene Meyer in Tracy, Minnesota. She passed away September 8, 2021 at her home after a brave battle with cancer.
She graduated from high school in 1969 and from nursing school in 1972 with an LPN degree and worked at the Republic County Hospital.
She married John Swiercinsky on August 4, 1973. They were blessed with three children, Steven Edmond, Michael John, and Thomas James.
She was an active leader and camp director for 12 years in Girl Scouts and a den mother and cubmaster for Cub Scouts. Hobbies were scrap booking, quilting, genealogy, antiques and landscaping. She was a very talented artist of canvas paintings and a variety of crafts. She had a knack for interior design and enjoyed remodeling the homes she lived in. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Salina, Kansas, a member of United Methodist Women and involved in a number of activities throughout the church.
Lois was preceded in death by her son Steven in 1976, her husband John in 2013, her father Albert Meyer in 2004, and sister Bernice Meyer in 2015.
Survivors include her son Michael, his wife Stephanie, grandchildren Paige and Cove of Leonardville, KS; son Thomas of Ackley, IA; mother Arlene Meyer of Loveland, CO; sister Ruth Orth (Bob) of Diller, NE; brother Paul Meyer (Connie) of Deshler, NE; brother James Meyer of Norfolk, NE; sister Mary Meyer of Seattle, WA; sister Karen Fischer (Mike) of Ord, NE; brother-in-law Kenneth Swiercinsky of Maple Hill, KS; plus many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 23 at First United Methodist Church in Salina, KS.
Memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
