Douglas Elden Keeslar, 65, of McPherson, KS, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at McPherson Hospital. Prior to retirement, he had worked at Central Plastics as an extruder operator. Doug was born on April 14, 1956, in Salina, KS, the son of Elden R. and Phyllis J. (Miller) Keeslar. He graduated from Burr Oak High School in Burr Oak, MI in 1976, and had been a McPherson resident since 1982. Survivors include: his parents, Elden and Phyllis Keeslar of Inverness, FL; three siblings, Philip Keeslar (Somwong) of Singapore, Greg Keeslar of McPherson, KS, and Rebecca Burton of Inverness, FL; aunts and uncles, Ron and Pat Anderson of McPherson, KS, Kathie and Doug Unruh of McPherson, KS, Doug and Vicki Vollmer of Kanopolis Reservoir, KS, and Jackie Eberle of Herscher, IL; three nephews, Clint Bohling of Portland, OR, Matt Keeslar of Seoul, South Korea, and Jack Keeslar of Honolulu, HI; a niece, Eva Keeslar of Bothell, WA; two great-nephews; one great-niece; and numerous cousins. Dwayne’s life began on December 6, 1927, in Herington.&nbsp; He was the son of Charles and Edith (Schuster) Stroda.&nbsp; Dwayne is a 1946 graduate of Herington High School.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Delores M. Bezdek on May 1, 1954, in Marion.&nbsp; 

Dwayne was a lifelong farmer and rancher in rural Herington.&nbsp; He was a parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington and a member of the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; Dwayne was a member of the Farm Bureau and the U.S. Custom Harvesters Association.&nbsp; 

He loved spending time with his friends over coffee at the coffee shop and enjoyed creating metalworks.&nbsp; Dwayne was a people person. He never knew a stranger and genuinely loved people.&nbsp; He enjoyed card club and supper club and loved to travel. Dwayne and Delores traveled to Hawaii on an anniversary trip, and to nearly all 50 states. He and Delores also enjoyed bus trips to the casino with friends.&nbsp; He enjoyed his family and family reunions.&nbsp; 

Dwayne’s loving family includes his children Darrell (Laurie) Stroda of Pratt, Chuck (Kim) Stroda of Abbottstown, PA, Pat (Kathryn) Carpenter of Oceanside, CA and Mary (Gordon) Schroeder of Herington, and son-in-law Bill Suenram of Salina; his grandchildren Hayley ( Tony) Ferris, Nick Suenram, Ben Suenram, Sadie Suenram, Gordon M. (Mary) Schroeder, Jason (Lisa) Schroeder, Erik Schroeder, Matt Stroda, Lindsay (Tom) Schuurman, and Josh Carpenter; 20 great-grandchildren and his siblings Ralph Stroda, Oraina Schump, LaVada Holub, sister-in-law Rosemary Stroda and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

Dwayne passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Geary Community Hospital.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores, daughter Pam Suenram, and brother Dean Stroda.&nbsp; 

His family will gather with friends on Friday, June 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington where his rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.&nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 5 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington led by Father Peter O’Donnell.&nbsp; Dwayne will be laid to rest in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Herington.&nbsp;

Joseph L. “Joe” Zey of Abilene passed away peacefully Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Presbyterian Manor in Salina. He was born May 3, 1928 in Abilene the son of Louis and Pearl (Garten) Zey. He grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School where he earned a football scholarship to play in college. On September 30, 1947 Joe married his high school sweetheart Donna Johnston in Abilene. She was AHS' first homecoming queen. Together they owned and operated Zey’s Market from 1948 until his retirement in 1990. Joe was a kind, humble, gentle and soft-spoken man with a great sense of humor. He was a lifelong member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1661. He and Donna rarely missed Mass every week. Joe loved sports and besides playing and watching football, he liked to bowl, fish, hunt, ride horses, and shoot blue rock at the “farm” with his family and friends. Joe also loved gardening and growing tomatoes. Joe and Donna were proud of their five sons and attended football, and wrestling meets they participated in. The boys all helped their parents in the grocery business growing up, especially having fun running the firecracker stand every year. He is survived by his sons John and his wife Joyce of Topeka, Robert and his wife Vicki of Abilene, Rick and his wife Donna of Salina, Steve and his wife Kris of Papillion, Nebraska, daughter-in-law Mary Zey of Abilene, sisters Cecilia Sexton of Abilene, Jane and her husband Stan Veal of Abilene, Irene and her husband Tom Glennon of Kearney, Missouri, Linda Zey of Prairie Village, Kansas, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David, great-grandson Jacob Delimont, sisters Martha Cook, Pauline Sims, Louise Miller, Patty Corley, and his parents. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara Zemanick; daughter Judy Zemanick; sister Elizabeth Dillon, and brother William Zemanick.

He married his wife Barbara on July 1, 1961. Michael is survived by two sons, Mike Zemanick and wife, Brenda, of Inman, South Carolina, and Walter Zemanick and wife Regina, of Wichita; three daughters, Laurie Harwood, of Great Bend, Jennifer Callis and husband Casey, of Abilene, and Jodi Feist and husband Curtis, of Salina; 12 grandchildren (Justin, Rodney, Tyler, Kristen, Mason, Sierra, Matthew, Noah, Morgan, Lexie, Evan, and Mia); and seven great-grandchildren (Eugene, Zoey, Cooper, Hayden, Dawson, Crew and Sofia).

Michael worked the majority of his life as a mechanical engineer at the Fuller Brush Company in Great Bend, Kansas. His hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting, camping, and spending as much time as possible with his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed volunteering his time at Catholic Charities, USD 305’s Adult Education Center, and being a member of Knights of Columns #8196.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Salina. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2 with family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. and a vigil beginning at 7 p.m., all at Ryan Mortuary.

SALINA - James W. Spence, 91, of Salina passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 23, 2021.&nbsp; Jim was born in the Dry Creek Community near Willow Springs, Missouri on May 27, 1929, a son of the late Ira and Rhilda Spence.

Jim retired as resident manager of Webster Conference Center in 1997.&nbsp; Jim and Darlene traveled to many camp manager conferences and loved to extend the time away by visiting many new areas of the country.&nbsp; Jim and Darlene traveled to 47 states and Canada.&nbsp; Jim continued working for Omli and Associates as a member of the auction crew.&nbsp; Jim was never found idle, his hobby was his love of work and enjoying time with others.&nbsp; He loved his children and grandchildren. He could be found teaching them his love of gardening and woodworking.&nbsp;

He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Salina and served on numerous committees.

Jim and Darlene (Kelso) were married on April 5, 1986 in Salina, KS.&nbsp; Jim is survived by his wife Darlene of Salina; sons Gary Spence of Cashmere, WA; Scot Kelso (Debra) of Hesston, KS; and John Ed Kelso (Deanna) of Ada, OK; daughters April Brown of Shoreline, WA; Kelly (Mike Davert) of Plymouth, MN; Lynn (Curt Marshall) of Salina, KS; Margaret (James Peterson) of Beverly, KS and special friend Jason Gabriel of Vermont.&nbsp;

Jim is also survived by nine grandchildren and five grea-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, son Michael, and granddaughter Hadley.

A memorial service will be held June 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.mm. at First Southern Baptist Church in Salina.&nbsp; Jim choose the honorable gift of body donation to the University of Kansas School of Medicine for education and research that will ensure quality health care for future generations.

Stockton, KS, at the age of 87. He was born to Theodore and Sarah 
(Cadoret) Strutt on March 5, 1934 in Rural Osborne County. He was united
 in marriage to Clara Lee Livingston on May 1, 1956 at Gretna, KS. They 
were married 65 years and were blessed with two children: Mickey and 
Gail.
 Dean grew up in Osborne County and attended several different 
country schools. His favorite was Greenwood School with teacher Ruth 
Hikesmith. He graduated from Pleasant Plains School and went to work for
 a farmer north of Alton. He worked on the Webster Dam running a scraper
 for about three years, and then to Frank Walkers Service Station. Last,
 he worked for Rooks County from 1958 to 1994 when he retired. He was 
then elected Rooks County Commissioner for four years. Dean was baptized
 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, KS.
 Left to cherish Dean’s memories is his wife, Clara Strutt of the 
home in Stockton; children, Mickey (Marcia) Strutt of McPherson and Gail
 (Diana) Strutt of Stockton; brother, Joseph (Ada) Strutt of Stockton; 
sisters, Gertrude (Howard) Morgan of Marion, KS and Judith (Tom) Butler 
of Enid, OK; sister-in-law, Bonnie Strutt of Lincoln, KS; five 
grandchildren, Bradley Strutt, Hayley (Steven) Moll, Macey Strutt, Ryan

Nadine Gay (Decker) Spence, 66, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, in Henderson, NV. Nadine was born, June 2, 1954, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Robert E. and Susie L. (Rudiger) Decker. She attended Canton Public Schools where she was a cheerleader and May Day Queen, and she graduated in 1972 as valedictorian of her class. She attended Hutchinson Junior College, Pittsburg State University, and graduated from McPherson College with a degree in accounting. Nadine met Steve Spence at Hutchinson Junior College. They were married on June 15, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in McPherson where they remain members. They were blessed with two daughters, April and Abbigail. Nadine loved her daughters and supported them through involvement in all their activities. She took on leadership roles as Sunday School teacher and president of the PTA, Campfire Girls, and Arts Council Choir. Nadine built her career as an accountant at Kansas Jack and continued as an accounting manager at NCRA, retiring in 2015. She was also a leader in the community as she was involved with Leadership McPherson through the Chamber of Commerce, All Schools Day Chairman, and countless other organizations. Nadine was a loving, caring individual who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She could light up a room with her smile and laughter. She was always positive and put others before herself. She brought joyful life to every holiday and family reunion, which included any number of her beloved 45 cousins. Friendship was very important to her. She looked forward to lunches, shopping trips, and socializing with all her friends. In retirement, Nadine and Steve continued traveling, camping, and spending time with their family, including their precious granddaughter, Olivia. Nadine was born, June 2, 1954, in Newton, KS, the daughter of Robert E. and Susie L. (Rudiger) Decker. She attended Canton Public Schools where she was a cheerleader and May Day Queen, and she graduated in 1972 as valedictorian of her class. She attended Hutchinson Junior College, Pittsburg State University, and graduated from McPherson College with a degree in accounting. Nadine met Steve Spence at Hutchinson Junior College. They were married on June 15, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in McPherson where they remain members. They were blessed with two daughters, April and Abbigail. Nadine loved her daughters and supported them through involvement in all their activities. She took on leadership roles as Sunday School teacher and president of the PTA, Campfire Girls, and Arts Council Choir. Nadine built her career as an accountant at Kansas Jack and continued as an accounting manager at NCRA, retiring in 2015. She was also a leader in the community as she was involved with Leadership McPherson through the Chamber of Commerce, All Schools Day Chairman, and countless other organizations. Nadine was a loving, caring individual who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She could light up a room with her smile and laughter. She was always positive and put others before herself. She brought joyful life to every holiday and family reunion, which included any number of her beloved 45 cousins. Friendship was very important to her. She looked forward to lunches, shopping trips, and socializing with all her friends. In retirement, Nadine and Steve continued traveling, camping, and spending time with their family, including their precious granddaughter, Olivia. Dean served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marines and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 70 years. He married the former Gladys June Blackwell on August 7, 1952. Dean had worked for Lee Hardware for 32 years as a salesman and in charge of the order desk and 12 years at Sunflower Bank where he was assistant VP and security officer.

Dean is preceded in death by a brother, George.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gladys; his five sons, Dennis (Sharon), Granger, IN, Tom, (Dorothy), Manhattan, Ken (Becky), Wichita, Mike (Kerry), Salina, and Mark (Kathy), Salina; and his daughter, Susie (Dave) Adams, Columbia, MO. Dean has 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak, Salina, with the Rev. Keith Weber officiating. LINDSBORG -&nbsp;Caren Louise Dumler, 78, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on May 26, 2021. She was born in El Dorado, Kan., on February 27, 1943.

Caren met the love of her life, J.R. Dumler, at a WSU street dance in August of 1961.&nbsp; J.R. arrived home that night and informed his roommates that he had met his future wife.&nbsp; It was a quick courtship - engaged in November, and married on June 10, 1962.&nbsp; They lived in Kansas where they raised their four daughters until they moved to Colorado in 1986 to fulfill their dreams of living in the Rocky Mountains.&nbsp; They returned “home” to Kansas in 2017.

Caren’s biggest legacy was being a wonderful mother and grandma.&nbsp; Caren was a woman of many talents and stories.&nbsp; The grandkids loved going to “Bonca’s” house and riding her horses, making pans of homemade cinnamon rolls, taking day trips to Estes Park, or simply having a hot dog roast in the backyard while enjoying the view of the Rocky Mountains.&nbsp; Caren loved “her” mountains and sitting under a pine tree next to a mountain stream where she would sometimes pack her paints and create a beautiful masterpiece. She enjoyed the Kansas landscape and taking country drives with her corgi and a Diet Coke packed full of ice.&nbsp; She appreciated the simple things of life like sitting on her back porch and listening to the birds singing. &nbsp;

She was a woman of many words and never hesitated to speak her mind and offer some wit and humor in conversation.&nbsp; She had the gift of hospitality and always welcomed people into her home. She was a friend to many and those who had the honor of meeting Caren instantly loved being around her. Caren was a talented horsewoman and a member of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association.&nbsp; She enjoyed attending horse shows and volunteering at the National Western Stock Show in Denver,&nbsp; providing her delicious home-cooked meals and cookies for the volunteers.&nbsp; Music brought great joy to Caren’s life.&nbsp; She loved attending concerts of her favorite artists and sometimes would score a backstage pass.&nbsp; One of her favorite moments was being the driver for Lee Greenwood when he performed at the Bicentennial Center.

Caren is preceded in death by her mother Dolly Chandler (John Clark); father James Lee Chandler; and son-in-law Bret Nimerick.&nbsp; Caren is survived by her husband J.R. Dumler; her brother Vernon Chandler (Jan), Kansas City, Mo.; her four daughters, Stacy Hamontree (Gerry) Ellsworth, Kan., Dana Taylor (Steve), Richardson, Texas, Kim Kratzer (Andy), Marquette, Kan., and Lisa Mansfield (Bill), Niwot, Colo.; and her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Hamontree (Kate), Nicole Hamontree, Kelsie Jensen (Austin), Maddie Klotzbach (Rachelle), Collin Duffy, and Maggie Taylor; her great-grandson, Henry Hamontree; and her best napping buddy and lap dog, Jesse.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Gary was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth where he graduated from Ellsworth High School. He married Mary Ann Nondorf on March 23, 1968. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then many years for Ellsworth Co-op. Gary served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a loyal member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174 where he was a past commander.

Robert “Bobby” Crough, age 82 of Clyde, KS, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde.&nbsp; He was born on September 15, 1938 in Salina, KS to Vincent M. &amp; Faye V. (Harder) Crough.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1956 and attended Ft. Hays State College.&nbsp; He married Elizabeth Anne Coates on Dec. 7, 1985 in Salina, KS.&nbsp; 

Bobby’s passion was the car business.&nbsp; Throughout his career he owned two dealerships and was sales manager for several dealerships in Kansas and Oklahoma. &nbsp;He was a member of the Catholic Church. &nbsp;Bobby touched so many lives and could connect with others in the most remarkable way. &nbsp;He truly loved his family and friends and has left each of us with “Bobby stories” that make us laugh, astound us, or warm our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Anne, Clyde; daughters Shellee Lujan, Roundrock, TX, Kathee Crough, Dallas, TX and Dana Singleton, Salina; sister Mary Pennachi, Seattle, WA and brother Curtis “Bud” Crough (Ruth), Rockport, TX, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby”; an infant daughter, Kellee; his parents; brothers Mike, Jim and Jerry Crough and a sister, Barbara Sorrentino.

It was Bobby’s wishes to be cremated and in maintaining safety for COVID-19, a private family memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 21, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Fr. Steven Heina officiating.&nbsp; The services will be live streamed on the church Facebook page for everyone to view.&nbsp; 

Burial of the cremains will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Solomon, KS.  The family extends an invitation to join them for refreshments following the committal services at the Parish Hall in Solomon.

The family suggests memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, or Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde in care of the funeral home.&nbsp;

SALINA -&nbsp;Laura Leslie (Bowen) Loder&nbsp;died Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Salina.&nbsp; She was born August 14, 1952 to Richard and Marilyn Bowen in Kansas City, MO.&nbsp; As a child, she lived in Kansas City, Springfield, Mo, and Beloit, KS until moving with her family to Salina in 1963.&nbsp; She graduated from Salina High School in 1970, a member of the last graduating class there.&nbsp; She lived much of her adult life in Salina but lived in Noble, OK. in the late 70s for a few years, and in 1991 she moved to the Loder family farm in Marquette, KS, in 1991 with Doug Loder.&nbsp; She lived there until his death in 2016 and then moved back to Salina. &nbsp; She had varied careers and workplaces during her adult life.&nbsp; She spent the last 25-plus years driving for Quality Driveaway delivering buses nearly everywhere in the United States.&nbsp; She is remembered by her family, coworkers and others who knew her for her wit and humor.&nbsp; She always had a listening ear and a metaphor to summarize any situation.&nbsp; She was a member of First Covenant Church in Salina and found great joy in singing along to country gospel music. &nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband Doug Loder, her father Richard Bowen, her mother Marilyn Larson and a brother, Joe Bowen. &nbsp; &nbsp; She is survived by her son Jeremy Hopkins (Angela) of Salina, daughter Emily DeRocco (Steven) of Virginia, sisters Sue Jordan (Don) of Salina, Sally Morrison (Todd) of Olathe, and her stepfather Oscar Larson of Tescott. Her grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life and include Noah and Eli Hopkins of Salina and Laramie, Liam, Elon, Joss and Dexter DeRocco of Northern Virginia.&nbsp; She is also survived by her nephews James (Soni) and John (Casey) Jordan and nieces Melanie and Malorie Morrison.&nbsp; She will also be missed by her extended Larson family including her several stepbrothers and sisters and their spouses and children as well as her extended Loder family including all of Doug’s children and grandchildren. &nbsp; Services will be Saturday, May 29 at 10 a.m. at First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Career changes led them to reside in Goodland, Russell, and Hutchinson, Kan., and Tupelo, Miss. They settled in Salina, Kan., for 25 years, where she loved and cared for several children in her home. A Garage Sale Diva, she loved to interact with people. After the death of Royce, she moved to Aberdeen Village retirement community in Olathe, Kan., where she brought her vibrant joy and playful smile. Here she met and married Ed Reynolds and together they shared a fun-filled two years.

She is survived by Ronda (Steve) Elliott of Leawood and Rick (Becky) of Minnesota, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Rob’s life began on May 5, 1966 in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; He was the loving son of James and Carol (Oblander) Hett.&nbsp; Rob was a 1984 graduate of Marion High School, attended Butler County Community College and served in the United States Army Reserve from 1983-1989, seeing service in Germany.&nbsp; 

Rob was blessed with a daughter, Valeree Robin in 1990 and a son Adam Robert in 1992.&nbsp; 

Rob’s passion for dirt bikes was passed on to his son, enjoying countless hours at the motor cross track with family and friends.&nbsp; Rob was also a softball coach for his daughter, spending several summers at games.&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Rob was united in marriage to the former Mandy Everett on April 15, 2017 in Tonganoxie, KS.&nbsp; From there, they went on to countless adventures across the county, making a lifetime of memories together.&nbsp; 

Rob valued hard work, starting at a young age, opening CR Kennel with his mother Carol and ending his life as a superintendent for Piping Technology Company in McPherson, a job that was more than just work and brought to his life a special “on the road family” and many traveling adventures from which he always came home with stories to laugh about.&nbsp; 

Rob was a giving soul who never met a stranger and genuinely loved people.&nbsp; He enjoyed woodworking, guns, grilling, and loved spending time on his family farm.&nbsp; Most evenings you could find him with a grill full of food and a big smile for anybody who stopped by.&nbsp;

 His loving family includes his wife Mandy of Marion; parents Jim and Carol Hett of Marion; children Valeree (Blake Ware) Hett of Hillsboro and Adam (Elizabeth) Hett of Topeka; grandchildren Bryden, Camryn, Brooks and Declan; siblings Tim Hett of Emporia and Kimberly (Michael) Metcalf of Roseburg, OR; Mandy’s children Shannon Glover, and Skyler Stover; grandchildren Avery, Dawson, and Colton and Rob’s faithful dog Buck.&nbsp; 

Rob passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 21, 2021.&nbsp; His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, June 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.&nbsp; His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Aulne Church led by Pastors Jeff Lee and Jim Helzer.&nbsp; Rob will be laid to rest with military honors in Marion Cemetery following the service.&nbsp;

SALINA -&nbsp;Gabriel Joseph Allen, originally of Phoenix, AZ, passed away at the age of 40 in his home surrounded by family, loved ones, and hospice (Rebecca) on 19 May 2021. Gabe was born to Sandra McLean, in Phoenix on 15 May 1981. Gabe was the eldest of three children and came to know his dad, David Lee Allen III, while being the best man at their wedding at the age of eight.&nbsp; Gabriel was a child of God and practiced the Catholic faith.

Gabe often spoke of his childhood memories in Arizona, especially the times spent with his Grandpa and Grandma, as well as his best friends Simon and Fernando Flores. This was a time in his life when Gabriel developed a love of cooking, playing the guitar, camping, and fishing - but most importantly a true passion and understanding of FAMILY!

Gabriel moved to Salina with his family where he and Emily Eikenberry had one son, Anthony Joseph Allen. &nbsp;

Gabe excelled in school and received a certification in culinary arts.&nbsp; Gabe loved to cook!&nbsp; At any family gathering from three to thirty, you could hear Gabe scream, "I've got this!", referring to the BBQ&nbsp; grill.&nbsp; Damn that man COULD cook! One of his proudest accomplishments was being promoted to head chef at K-State of Salina, where he managed the menu and staff, cooking for hundreds of students daily.&nbsp; Gabe later found himself as an iconic cook at a prestigious restaurant in Russell, KS. Gabe also worked in the construction field as a certified forklift operator for Advance Auto and King Construction Inc.

Gabe was an avid fan of music, movies, literature, trivia, golf, the Oakland As, and the San Francisco 49ers.&nbsp; By avid we mean excessive or exaggerated, because if you had a question about ANY of these hobbies, Gabe knew the answer and then some!&nbsp; He had a true gift of memory and was a wealth of knowledge. 

Gabe was active in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) throughout much of his adult life.&nbsp; During this time, Gabe found many friends that he inspired, mentored and sponsored within the program. Perhaps, some are alive today through his leadership.

Gabriel was preceded in death by his great-grandma Mable Willett (108 years old); grandparents Robert and Judith McLean, Ophelia and David Lee Allen II; dad David Lee Allen III; aunts Carolyn (McLean) Pearson and Robin (Carlson) Grebba; and uncle Robert G. McLean "Uncle Bobby".

Survivors include: son Anthony Allen of Woodstock, IL.; mother Sandra (Allen) Oelke and step-dad/friend, Robert Oelke of Salina; brother Travis Allen of Steamboat Springs, CO.; sister Kristina Allen; aunt Gabriella (Gabby Allen) Carter; uncles Jim Allen and Butch Carter, all of Salina; cousins Donovan (Duck) Lewis of Lampoc, CA., Edward Lewis of Bennington, KS.; Melissa Carberry of Ft.
