September 6, 1954 - November 8, 2021

Donald Lee Crowder died November 8, 2021. He was born in Saint Joseph, MO on September 6, 1954.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of over 47 years, Melody Crowder; sons Collin A. Crowder, TSgt, Trevor W. Crowder, USAF (Whitney); and grandchildren Roland R., Landon P., and Olive F. Crowder.

He graduated from Missouri Western State University with a B.S. in education. He taught high school in Higginsville, MO before joining Sandoz Pharmaceutical Company which became Novartis Pharmaceutical. Don retired from Novartis. During the miles on road trips to physicians’ offices throughout western Kansas, Don listened to talk radio. In retirement he worked as a paraeducator at South Middle School.

In addition to his family, Don’s passions included Civil War and World War II history. He participated in Civil War reenactments and over the years he and Melody visited many battlefields in the U.S.  Always a sports enthusiast, Don followed the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Red Sox. One of the highlights of his life was attending the Boston Red Sox Fantasy Camp in Florida where he met several Red Sox players. The family attended many baseball games at Fenway Park. He attended games at all thirty major league baseball fields. In addition, he umpired many baseball games in Salina.

If you knew Don you were privileged to have received his gregarious smile, laugh, jokes and friendship. Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald M. Crowder, and his mother Alberta Stull Crowder of Saint Joseph, MO. Don was a member of the Church of Christ in Salina.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Fri., November 12 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel.

Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina, KS 67401.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina Rescue Mission in care of Roselawn Mortuary, P.O. Box 2322, Salina, 67402.
