Patricia’s life began on the 4th of July 1929 in Anthony, KS. She was the daughter of William Hobart and Bernice Blanche (Huffman) Reneau. She was a 1947 graduate of Medicine Lodge High School. 

Right after graduation, Patricia was united in marriage to Robert W. Oller on May 24, 1947, in Hutchison, KS. She and Robert came to Marion in 1962 where they lived out their lives.

 Patricia worked for Duckwalls Five and Dime store, then moved onto working for the city of Marion as the deputy city clerk. Pat was also the manager of the Hilltop Manor in Marion for several years. 

Growing up in the Depression taught Pat many valuable lessons which she passed on to her children. She was an excellent seamstress, loved to cook and cater for occasions; she was a skilled cake decorator and took pride in caring for her family. Pat enjoyed socializing with friends in the Neo-century club, her card clubs and bowling. She enjoyed travelling and stayed active throughout her life. 

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her daughters Linda (Albert) Holub of Culbertson, NE, Rita (Tim) Zulkoski of Caldwell, KS, and Neva (Gale) Cooper of Marion; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; three sisters, Mary Ann Rynerson of Pratt, Maurita Denney of Camp Verde, AZ, and Sue Felke of Stafford, KS; sister-in-law Rose Ann Reneau of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews. 

Patricia passed away on October 15, 2021, at St. Luke’s Living Center in Marion. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Dean and Bill Reneau, sister-in-law Bessie Reneau, brothers-in-law Max Rynerson and John Felke and son-in-law Donald Smith. 

Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 20 at 1 p.m. at Valley United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions in Patricia’s name may be directed to St. Luke’s Foundation or Valley United Methodist Church.

Joe Hartman, 42, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, 
October 13, 2021. He was born March 18, 1979, at the U.S. Naval Base 
Subic Bay in the Philippines. He spent most of his childhood in San 
Diego but has been a Salinan for most of his life.

Joe "MF" Hartman was a force of life. His unique personality and 
crazy antics were the cause of an immeasurable number of smiles and 
deep-rooted laughter. Anyone that knew Joe personally, has a ton of 
stories to tell, most of them almost unbelievable. While he was big and 
scary to those that just saw him, he was a big teddy bear to those of us
 that were lucky enough to know him. His voice, laughter, and everything
 that is Joe "MF" Hartman will always live on.

Visitation for friends and family will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. 
Wednesday, October 20, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Funeral 
services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Dale Gene Frans, 74 of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, after a courageous nine year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Ever a feisty and surprising man, he refused to be defined by the disease, living an active life for nearly a decade after his diagnosis. Born to Ray and Lillian Frans on June 1, 1947, Dale grew up in McPherson, KS with his older sister Cheri and younger brother Dennis. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1965.

Dale went on to serve his country with the United States Army in 1966. Stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, he worked primarily in communications. 

After being honorably discharged, Dale returned to McPherson and began a career in flooring installation at Reggie’s Floor Covering. He later started Frans and Frans Installation with his brother Dennis, and continued to work in the industry throughout his life. A creative and adventurous man, Dale loved being outdoors, going camping, hiking, fishing, and searching for arrowheads. He had a green thumb, with a particular talent for cultivating wildflower gardens and cacti. Dale was an avid reader and enjoyed researching Native American history. He enjoyed putting together model airplanes, making his own arrowheads, and painting landscapes. Music was important to him throughout his life. He especially loved to listen to and play drums. Dale drummed and sang as an original member of the band “King Midas and the Muflers,” and never lost his love for listening to music - as often, and as loud as he could!

Dale also loved family, and took particular joy in the lives and accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One of Dale’s greatest gifts was his ability to connect with people. He was an unassuming and down-to-earth man who loved to joke around. His authentic and playful outlook drew others to him. Throughout his life, he modeled resilience, problem solving, humility, the ability to admit one’s mistakes, and never giving up. Dale openly shared about the ups and downs of his own life making it easy for others to relate. He taught those in his life to never judge a book by its cover, to give and receive grace, and to value nature’s beauty over material possessions. Dale’s legacy lives on in these lessons. Dale is survived by daughters: Daisy Myrick (Steve) of Liberty, MO, Jennifer Mizell of Canton, KS, Angela Strovas (Tim) of Seattle, WA, and Elkie Burnside of Amherst, MA; four granddaughters: Mia and Molly Myrick and Grace and June Mizell; a sister, Cheri Wray of McPherson, KS; sister-in-law, Janet Frans of McPherson, KS and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis, and niece Heather Lynn Frans. Anita Madeline Eilert was born July 26, 1928 to Ted and Catherine Brummer in Tipton, KS. She died Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 93.

Her mother passed away when she was only three and she and her younger sister Bernese were raised by their grandparents, Henry and Madeline Schulte. She attended school and grew up in Tipton.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

She married George Eilert September 6, 1949. Thirteen children were born to this union. They greatly enjoyed 67 years of marriage together until he died in August 2016.

She worked in the home preparing good home-cooked meals and caring for her children. She was noted for her cooking and enjoyed doing it. She was a good homemaker and always had meals on time with everyone eating at the table together. Her specialty was pies and having some in the freezer for company was like gold.&nbsp;

After the kids grew up, she began working outside of the home, first for Marie Lewis cooking at the nursing home and later at the Beloit Youth Center in the kitchen for 16 ½ years retiring in 1988.&nbsp;

Her hobbies were working with her flowers and embroidering and each child enjoyed a set of towels she embroidered for them each Christmas for many years.&nbsp; The highlight of her life was family and she took pride in getting them all together for the holidays.&nbsp;

Her Catholic faith was always important to her and she was a member of the Ladies Guild for many years.&nbsp;

In addition to her husband George, she was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Debbie; and her sister Bernese Thorpe.

Anita is survived by children Kathy (Dave) Scott of Glen Elder, Marlene Jaso of Louisville, KY, Darlene Fischer of Gardner, KS, Sondra (John) Richardson of Belleville, KS, Diane (Larry) Glauser of Glen Elder, Mary (John) Quinley of Salina, Joan (Bill) Meyensburg of Salina, Tim (Betty) Eilert of Beloit, Henry (Betty) Eilert of Concordia, Gary (Susan) Eilert of Beloit, Karen (Brad) Kesl of Hays, and Donna (Scott) Remus of Glen Elder; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of many relatives and friends.

Joe Lynn Wise, 67, of Cawker City, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on October 13h, 2021.&nbsp; Joe was born June 24th, 1954 in Beloit, Kansas to Eugene and Lois Wise.&nbsp;

 Joe attended Cawker City Elementary and learned how to work hard at an early age; driving his Grandpa Wieranga’s tractor at three or four years old (depending on which age he decided when he was telling the story).&nbsp; &nbsp;

Joe was very clever and learned how to get away with things.&nbsp; Joe’s siblings reported that as a child, he had an imaginary friend called “Leo the Lion." &nbsp; Somehow whenever Joe got blamed for doing something naughty, he always blamed it on Leo the Lion, thinking he could get away with it.&nbsp; 

Joe graduated from Waconda East High School in 1972.&nbsp; Shortly after his high school graduation, Joe started his venture into the construction business.&nbsp; &nbsp; Throughout his years of construction work, Joe had the pleasure of working with his brother, Dick, his sons, other family members and many friends. &nbsp; Before retiring, he was so proud and had the wonderful experience of working for his son Skyler, who shares the same love of the trade.

On August 20th, 197, Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Colby. &nbsp; After their union, Barb and Joe decided to start their new life together in Cawker City, Kansas. &nbsp; They bought a small plot of land, moved a small house on it and this was the start of the “Wise Mansion.”&nbsp; &nbsp;

To this union three children were born: Jake, Felisha, and Skyler.

 Joe instilled his hard work ethic and dedication to getting a job done in his children.&nbsp; Throughout the years Joe used his spare time to salvage old houses, taking any items from the house that could be used as building materials. By doing this and with his hard work ethic, you can see his mission of his dream house was accomplished. We have a wonderful reminder of his artistic carpentry skills in every room of the house.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Between his many years of construction work, Joe was a STAR mail route carrier, servicing people in Tipton and Hunter. Many of the people on his mail route noted that he went above and beyond his job duty. Through this work he developed many great friendships. 

One of Joe’s favorite pastimes was riding his motorcycle.&nbsp; He had many adventures with his best friend and brother Dick. We are pretty sure the family still hasn’t heard all the true stories of Sturgis. Joe had a love of gardening. He had a green thumb and always raised the best produce.&nbsp; He was very meticulous and weeds didn’t have a chance to grow!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

The pride and joy of his life were not only his children, but also his grandchildren. Many weekends were spent playing with them and giving them many rides on his golf cart. The grandkids loved helping their papa work in the garden, cleaning up the yard or even helping work around the house. Joe had a very caring and giving heart. He would always lend a helping hand, even doing tough work for others.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Joe is survived by his wife, Barb, of the home, Cawker City, Kansas; son Jake Wise of Salina, Kansas; daughter Felisha Bland and husband Mark of Lucas, Kansas; son Skyler Wise and wife Michelle of Cawker City, Kansas; brother Dick Wise (Sue) of Cawker City, Kansas; sisters Majean Schneider of Downs, Kansas; Jayne VandiRiet of Downs, Kansas; Judy Cook (Tom) of Parkville, Missouri; Callie Bader (Steve) of Cawker City, Kansas; sister-in-law Ruth Tanis (Jim) of Hays, Kansas; and grandchildren Annaleise, Hadley, Maci, Cohen, Teegan, Morgan and Norah.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lois Wise; brother Mac Wise; brother-in-law Jim Schneider and brother-in-law Randy VandeRiet.

Joe was taken to his heavenly home far too soon. He would ask you to miss him a little but not for long. Instead, remember the love he had for his most precious family and friends. As the morning sun rises, remember he is with you in spirit and will greet you again one day when you take your journey to heaven.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 18 at the Cawker City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Church. Memorials may be given to the Joe Wise Scholarship Fund.

 </figure><a href="https://www.mcdonaldrobertsfuneralservice.com/obituary/joe-wise">Obituary | Joe Wise of Cawker City, Kansas | Roberts Family Funeral Service (mcdonaldrobertsfuneralservice.com)</a>June 24, 1954 - October 13, 2021Joe Lynn Wise, 67, of Cawker City, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on October 13h, 2021.&nbsp; Joe was born June 24th, 1954 in Beloit, Kansas to Eugene and Lois Wise.&nbsp; Joe attended Cawker City Elementary and learned how to work hard at an early age; driving his Grandpa Wieranga’s tractor at three or four years old (depending on which age he decided when he was telling the story).&nbsp; &nbsp;Joe was very clever and learned how to get away with things.&nbsp; Joe’s siblings reported that as a child, he had an imaginary friend called “Leo the Lion." &nbsp; Somehow whenever Joe got blamed for doing something naughty, he always blamed it on Leo the Lion, thinking he could get away with it.&nbsp; Joe graduated from Waconda East High School in 1972.&nbsp; Shortly after his high school graduation, Joe started his venture into the construction business.&nbsp; &nbsp; Throughout his years of construction work, Joe had the pleasure of working with his brother, Dick, his sons, other family members and many friends. &nbsp; Before retiring, he was so proud and had the wonderful experience of working for his son Skyler, who shares the same love of the trade.On August 20th, 197, Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Colby. &nbsp; After their union, Barb and Joe decided to start their new life together in Cawker City, Kansas. &nbsp; They bought a small plot of land, moved a small house on it and this was the start of the “Wise Mansion.”&nbsp; &nbsp;To this union three children were born: Jake, Felisha, and Skyler. Joe instilled his hard work ethic and dedication to getting a job done in his children.&nbsp; Throughout the years Joe used his spare time to salvage old houses, taking any items from the house that could be used as building materials. By doing this and with his hard work ethic, you can see his mission of his dream house was accomplished. We have a wonderful reminder of his artistic carpentry skills in every room of the house.&nbsp;&nbsp;Between his many years of construction work, Joe was a STAR mail route carrier, servicing people in Tipton and Hunter. Many of the people on his mail route noted that he went above and beyond his job duty. Through this work he developed many great friendships. One of Joe’s favorite pastimes was riding his motorcycle.&nbsp; He had many adventures with his best friend and brother Dick. We are pretty sure the family still hasn’t heard all the true stories of Sturgis. Joe had a love of gardening. He had a green thumb and always raised the best produce.&nbsp; He was very meticulous and weeds didn’t have a chance to grow!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The pride and joy of his life were not only his children, but also his grandchildren. Many weekends were spent playing with them and giving them many rides on his golf cart. The grandkids loved helping their papa work in the garden, cleaning up the yard or even helping work around the house. Joe had a very caring and giving heart. He would always lend a helping hand, even doing tough work for others.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Joe is survived by his wife, Barb, of the home, Cawker City, Kansas; son Jake Wise of Salina, Kansas; daughter Felisha Bland and husband Mark of Lucas, Kansas; son Skyler Wise and wife Michelle of Cawker City, Kansas; brother Dick Wise (Sue) of Cawker City, Kansas; sisters Majean Schneider of Downs, Kansas; Jayne VandiRiet of Downs, Kansas; Judy Cook (Tom) of Parkville, Missouri; Callie Bader (Steve) of Cawker City, Kansas; sister-in-law Ruth Tanis (Jim) of Hays, Kansas; and grandchildren Annaleise, Hadley, Maci, Cohen, Teegan, Morgan and Norah.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lois Wise; brother Mac Wise; brother-in-law Jim Schneider and brother-in-law Randy VandeRiet.Joe was taken to his heavenly home far too soon. He would ask you to miss him a little but not for long. Instead, remember the love he had for his most precious family and friends. Roberta worked for the state of Kansas for many years, including the Kansas Neurological Institute. She was a believer and loved to testify and give praises to the Lord.

She is survived by her sister Peggy Amon; nieces Misty Tersiner and her daughter, Ashlyn, and Julie Bretado (Alfonso) and her children, Mariana and Elian; and&nbsp;nephew Zachariah Humphreys.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Walter; and nephew Christopher Tersiner.

A memorial service will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A private burial will be in Heart Land Prairie Cemetery, Niles, Kan.

Delores, Dee to many of her friends and family, was preceded in death by her husband Roland Reich.

Ruth Eileen (Appleby) Erickson, 88, passed away at her home in Courtland on Monday, October 11, 2021.&nbsp; She was born January 26,1933, to Howard Lucian and Argie Vesper (Pierce) Appleby near Formoso, Kansas.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Courtland High School in 1950 and attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.&nbsp; 

In 1954, she married Dale R. Erickson of Courtland, where they made their home.&nbsp; To this union, four children were born:&nbsp; Julie, Randall, Edward and Susan.&nbsp;

She worked for the Swedish American State Bank of Courtland for 26 years.&nbsp;

 Dale and Eileen made lifelong friends traveling on many bus tours over the years and they enjoyed productions at the Salina and Abilene community theatres.&nbsp; They rarely missed a sporting event, school play or music program involving any of their grandchildren.&nbsp; Oftentimes they were the first ones in the bleachers and the last to leave.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, brothers Edwin Appleby and Arnold Appleby, sister Audrey Diamond and daughter-in-law Edie Erickson.&nbsp; 

She is survived by her four children:&nbsp; Julie Lindberg and her husband Curtis of Courtland, Randall Erickson of Courtland, Edward Erickson and his wife Diana of Wamego, and Susan of Belleville.

Eileen is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Doerfler (Brian), Erica Lindberg-Siaji (Elisha), Nathan Lindberg (Shanna), Kyler Erickson (Lisa), Logan Erickson (Abby), Amy Erickson and Chris Bridwell; great-grandchildren Hudson Lindberg, Harlow Lindberg, Zawadi Siaji, Imani Siaji, Ben Doerfler, Jacob Doerfler, Cody Bridwell and Lynly Bridwell. She is also survived by her brother Dennis Appleby (Judy) of Wichita Falls, Texas; sisters-in-law Mildred Russell of Courtland, Gerry Appleby of Corvallis, Oregon and Joyce Ryan of McPherson, Kansas; nieces and nephews; and special family friend Ruthie Sederlin.

On July 21, 2007 David married Cynthia I. Carlman at the Mankato Country Club.

David worked at the Kiers Thriftway for 21 years in the meat department as the meat cutter.&nbsp; David recently worked for USD #107, Mankato public schools as a custodian.

He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, V.F.W., Auxiliary, all of Mankato.

David’s hobbies included karaoke, camping, working in his yard, sitting at the lake and watching the sunset, all sports, especially Kansas State University. He enjoyed staying at the family farm, just sitting outside his camper and taking all the outdoors in.&nbsp; David loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews and all his extended family.

David is survived by his wife Cynthia of the home in Mankato; brother Terry Ortman (Irene), Mankato, KS; stepdaughters Jaralee Hughes, Smith Center, KS; Chelsey Oltman (Travis), Minden, NE; grandchildren Isaias, Talon, Brantley, and Kaley; his sister-in-law Marie Taylor (Don), Radium, KS; brother-in-law Steve Wolf, Grinnell, KS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Max and Esther, sister Diana Sorge and her husband Harley, sister-in-law Brenda Wolf, and niece, Ashley Wolf.

Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas.&nbsp; Family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m.

Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 a.m, Monday, October 18, 2021 at the Harmony United Methodist Church, Mankato, Kansas with Pastor Jim Rice officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas.&nbsp; Masonic rites will be conducted by the Jewell County Masonic Lodge #11.

Mary Louise Doidge, 103, of Solomon passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was born July 30, 1918 in Solomon, the daughter of R.N. and Llewellyn (Simmons) Scott. 

She attended Solomon schools graduating in 1936. She was a loyal member of the alumni association, serving as secretary for many years. Mary Louise worked as assistant librarian in the Solomon school system for 24 years. 

On September 3, 1936 she was united in marriage to M.H. (Bill) Fair. To this union she had three sons, Warren, Walter (Lola) and Russell. 

M.H. preceded her in death November 24, 1965. She later married Ernest Doidge on January 4, 1979 and they enjoyed life until he passed September 22, 1998. 

She was a member of the Solomon Yoked Parish, Presbyterian Women and the Shuffling Sunflower Card Club. She loved to dance, play cards, read and to be with family and friends. She loved to celebrate and she celebrated her 100th birthday with a big party. 

Mary Louise is survived by her three sons, Warren, Salina, KS, Walter and wife Lola, Salina, KS and Russ, Solomon, KS; grandchildren Billy Fair, Seattle, WA, Bobby Fair, Hawaii and Sean (Kristi) Pike, Salina, KS; two great-grandchildren, Ivan and Alyssa Pike, Salina, KS and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her special exchange student, Irmi Ruhstorfer, Germany. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Bill Fair and Ernest Doidge; three sisters, Helen Glassen, Gladys Scott and Ethel Miller; and brother, Earl Scott. 

Funeral services for Mary Louise will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Solomon Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday evening 6-8 at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon. 

Family suggests memorials be given to the Hospice of Dickinson County or the SHS Mary Louise Fair Doidge Scholarship.

Kristi Cranwell, 50, of Hays, formerly of Chapman, passed away October 12, 2021 at Hays Medical Center. She was born in Junction City April 29, 1971, the daughter of Gary and Marge (Hall) Gfeller. 

She grew up in the Chapman area, graduating from Chapman High School in 1989. She went on to receive a bachelor degree in ag business at Kansas State University and her master of science at the University of Nebraska. 

She worked in sales for Woofter Construction and Irrigation Company in Colby. She was also an adjunct professor of agriculture at Fort Hays State University. 

On March 5, 1996, she was united in marriage to Clyde Cranwell in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

She was many things to many people, but Kristi was best at being a mom. She served everyone in such a personal way and there isn’t a person who met Kristi that doesn’t have a fond memory of her. She was a giver to all and brought energy into every room she entered. She loved nothing more than spending time outside in the sun when she wasn’t busy shuffling kids around. She loved reading, church, and her family. She was a motivator, mentor and supporter that leaves both a legacy and an irreplaceable void in the hearts of the many people she touched. 

Kristi is survived by her loving husband Clyde of the home and five daughters, Amanda, Emily, Megan, Haley, and Kaycee. She also leaves behind her parents, one brother, Steve (Christa) Gfeller of Chapman and two sisters, Sally (Dr. Kenny) Johnson of Assaria and Dr. Kim (Kelly) Kirkham of Hugoton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Alida Upland Co-Op Church, 2243 3300 Ave., Junction City, KS, with Pastor Allen Hodges officiating. Duane married Maxine L. (Tomanek) on October 1, 1966, and they happily celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. Maxine and Duane lived in Hays, KS for 47 years where they became members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. They moved to Salina in 2013 and joined the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.

He was past commander of VFW Post 9076 in Hays and a very proud member of their VFW Honor Guard.

Survivors include his wife Maxine; one sister, Ann; stepson Charlie Rupp (Mary Lou); four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Char, two brothers and six sisters.

Duane chose cremation with placement of his ashes in the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery at WaKeeney, Kansas during a private family ceremony. Military honors will be presented by the Hays VFW Honor Guard.

She started school in Vermillion, KS, and graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1961. &nbsp;

Dodie worked for the Sstate of Kansas, Beechcraft, and Walmart, but the job she enjoyed the most was being a certified medication aid at nursing homes.&nbsp; Dodie loved tending to her flower garden, camping, and watching and cheering at the kids sporting events. &nbsp;

Dodie was preceded by her parents, and brothers Charles and Bernie.

She is survived by her husband Don Fisher of Salina; stepson Darin Fisher of Aurora, CO; step-granddaughter Brianna Fisher of Springfield, MO; step-grandson Devin Sprecker (Kendall) of St. Louis; brother Ralph White (Judy) of Salina, Paul White (Carol) of Salina; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
