Matthew Scott Heller, 42, of Solomon passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022. He was born in Salina September 4, 1979, the son of Scott and Kathie (Rider) Heller. He grew up in Solomon and graduated from Solomon High School in 1998. 

On July 4, 2009 he was united in marriage to Danielle Dupal in Abilene. 

Matt loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds, especially watching his Chicago Bears play football. He was a big animal lover who adored his dogs and cat, but above all he loved watching his nephews play their sports. 

Matt is survived by his loving wife Danielle of the home, parents Scott and Kathie Heller of Solomon, brother Brian Heller (Leannitta) and Nephews Kadin and Holton, brothers-in-law William Dupal JR (Sally) and Nathan Dupal (Rachel), and niece Stella, sister-in-law Heather Michalek and nephew Tyler, father-in-law William Dupal (Kathy) and mother-in-law Grace Dupal, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins along with several lifelong friends he considered family. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Wayne and Shirley Heller, Glen and Maxine Rider, and niece Isabella Dupal. 

A Celebration of Life for Matt will be 10:30 Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Abilene with Pastor Jason Kohler and Ryan Johnson officiating.

William M. Cole, age 95, died April 5, 2022 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, KS.&nbsp; Mr. Cole was born November 27, 1926 in Barnard, MO and had been a Salina resident since 1932.&nbsp; 

Bill had been chairman of the board and president of Planters State Bank and Trust Company.&nbsp; He was a past president of the Coronado Council of Boy Scouts of America, Salina Downtown Lions Club, Salina Municipal Band, Credit Bureau of Salina, and Salina Civic Music Association. &nbsp;

Bill was an Air Force veteran of World War II.&nbsp; He was a graduate of the University of Kansas, University of Wisconsin, and University of Oklahoma’s School of Banking.&nbsp; He was a member of the Salina Masonic Lodge, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason, York Rite, Red Cross of Constantine and Royal Order of Jesters, and was a past potentate of Isis Shrine Temple.

When Bill wasn’t working, he was fishing.&nbsp; When he wasn’t fishing, he was puttering around the yard in one of his infamous jumpsuits, probably puffing on his pipe.&nbsp; If you were lucky, you enjoyed one of his amazing trumpet solos.&nbsp; As a child, “Billy” wanted to become a professional trumpet player, but his father convinced him there was no money in that endeavor, so he should go into banking.&nbsp; He did, but he never gave up his love of music, playing in different bands or as a guest player.&nbsp; Well into his 90s, he continued wowing his audience at Bethany Home with his musical talent. &nbsp;

Bill was also one of the most frugal men in town.&nbsp; Growing up as a child of the Depression, nothing went to waste.&nbsp; He once accompanied his beloved wife, Evelyn, on a regional tour of six baseball fields, not because he liked or even enjoyed baseball, but because he could get her a better deal on the tickets if he went with her.&nbsp; The man also liked to duct tape everything, including his shoes.&nbsp; One area he didn’t skimp on was his love for his family.&nbsp; Like the Velveteen Rabbit, he gave love and was well loved in return.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn A. (Knapp) Cole and two infant sons.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Cole (Cheryl), of Salina, daughters Barbara Nitz (Rodney) of Lawrence, and Deborah Richter (Douglas) of Assaria, seven grandchildren, (Will Cole, Jeff Cole, Benton Bates, Noah Rodenbeek, Cole Rodenbeek, Alexandria Keith, and Caitlin Sidener), and 14 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th Street, on Monday, April 18th at 10:00 a.m.&nbsp; Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. &nbsp;

Rebecca S. “Becky” Davidson, the daughter of Gerald Lee Buethe and Emil Nell (Fuller) Buethe, was born November 1, 1960 at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia and passed away on April 8, 2022 at her home in Scandia, Kansas at the age of 61 years, 5 months, and 7 days.

Becky received an associate’s degree in applied science degree in nursing and was a registered nurse at Mt Joseph and Sunset Nursing Home in Concordia, Kansas and also at St. John’s in Victoria, Kansas for several years.

On July 14, 1982, she was united in marriage to William A. Davidson and Kristi, Paul, Chris, and Melissa came to bless the home.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Emil Buethe; one son, Paul Davidson, and one sister, Hope Rodgers, great-nephew, Jerry Scott Hill.

She is survived by her husband William (Bill) Davidson of Scandia, KS;&nbsp; son Chris (Angie) Stout of Bentonville, Arkansas; two daughters, Kristi (Errick) Clark of Beloit, KS and Melissa (Jeremy) Miller of Courtland, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, Preston, Tanner, Laura, Brady, Zach, Colton, Sadie, Gage, Addyson, Hayden, Chase, Ryker, and Riley; one brother, Jerry (Terri) Buethe of Bel Aire, KS; three sisters, Annette Crandall of Oakley, KS, Donna (Keith) Green of Wellsville, KS; and Cyndy Haight of Hawthorn, CA; nieces&nbsp; Jess, Danielle and Nellie; many other nieces and nephews; special daughter, Ashley Adolf of Topeka, KS; other relatives, and friends.&nbsp;

Cremation was selected and memorial services will held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Scandia, Kansas with Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock, officiating.

Inurnment graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Glasco Cemetery, Glasco, Kansas.

Delbert’s life began on November 24, 1934, in Arkansas City, KS. He is the son of Jacob and Agatha (Epp) Wiebe, and a twin brother to Delmer Wiebe. 

Delbert was a lifelong area resident of Whitewater, KS and graduated from Berean Academy in 1954. After high school he went on to farm and bale hay before he began volunteering overseas with the PAX organization, doing road construction in Paraguay. When he returned to the states, he began dairy farming where he owned and operated Oaklawn Vue Dairy. 

Delbert married Hazel Marie (Chapple) on November 03, 1959, at Emmaus Church outside of Whitewater, KS.&nbsp;

When Delbert wasn’t busy working on the farm, he loved woodworking, landscaping and lawn care. He was a sound tech volunteer at the Emmaus Church and was part of Gideons International for twenty years. Many would say Delbert never met a stranger. Delbert loved his tractors and was very competitive in tractor pulls, attending competitions in Newton, Whitewater, and Halstead, earning many trophies over the years.

Most of all, Delbert enjoyed being with his loving family. 

He is survived by his wife Hazel, Whitewater, KS, children Delwin Wiebe, Illinois, Lorene (Phil) Lohrenz, Burrton, KS, Marilyn (Alan) Mueller, Halstead, KS,&nbsp; Karen (Ron) Colbert, Hesston, KS,&nbsp; Daniel (Kerry) Wiebe, Whitewater, KS,&nbsp; Marlene (David) Wiens, Hesston, KS,&nbsp; grandchildren Matthew Wiebe, Joshua Wiebe, Elijah (Sydney) Wiebe, Corey (Kelsey) Lohrenz, Jason (Lauren) Mueller, Natalia (Nick) Lee, Taryn (Matthew) Hauck, Kenton Wiebe, Tiana Wiebe, Kyler Wiebe, five great-grandchildren, twin brother Delmer Wiebe, Newton, and many nieces and nephews.

Delbert, at the age of 87, entered the gates of Heaven on Friday April 08, 2022, and was reunited with his parents, Jacob and Agatha Wiebe, sister-in-law, Eleanor Wiebe and grandchildren, Melissa Clarkson and Makayla Mueller. 

His family will gather with friends on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Emmaus Church, Whitewater, KS. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmaus Church, with burial to follow at Emmaus Cemetery.

He is the son of Jacob and Agatha (Epp) Wiebe, and a twin brother to Delmer Wiebe. Delbert was a lifelong area resident of Whitewater, KS and graduated from Berean Academy in 1954. After high school he went on to farm and bale hay before he began volunteering overseas with the PAX organization, doing road construction in Paraguay. When he returned to the states, he began dairy farming where he owned and operated Oaklawn Vue Dairy. Delbert married Hazel Marie (Chapple) on November 03, 1959, at Emmaus Church outside of Whitewater, KS.&nbsp;When Delbert wasn’t busy working on the farm, he loved woodworking, landscaping and lawn care. He was a sound tech volunteer at the Emmaus Church and was part of Gideons International for twenty years. Many would say Delbert never met a stranger. Delbert loved his tractors and was very competitive in tractor pulls, attending competitions in Newton, Whitewater, and Halstead, earning many trophies over the years.Most of all, Delbert enjoyed being with his loving family. Father Jim Hoover was born May 13, 1934, in Junction City to Laurence and Josephine (Casper)&nbsp;Hoover. 

He attended school at St. Francis Xavier grade school and high school, completing high school at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in St. Louis. (B.A. from Marymount College, Salina, 1964) He attended seminary at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis.

He was ordained April 2, 1960, by Bishop Frederick Freking at St. Francis Xavier Church in Junction City.&nbsp;

The following are comments from Father Hoover that were pulled from an article in the May 22, 2020, issue of the Register.

Upon celebrating his 60th&nbsp;anniversary to the priesthood, Father James Hoover once said, “I was one of these ones who pushed and burned the candle at both ends. I thought, ‘Those guys don’t live too long,’ but I did.”

The desire to be a priest was one he experienced at a young age. Father Hoover said he was eight years old, working in the silo of his family’s dairy farm. He was praying as he assisted in filling the silo and eventually became stuck in the mounds of silage. “It was starting to get up to my chest, but I wasn’t worried,” Father Hoover said. “God got me into this, he would get me out.” Eventually, when the grain was up to his chin, his older brother peered into the silo, saw the stuck child and pulled him out.

The next day, Father Hoover told his parents of his desire to become a priest. Initially unsure about his parent’s reaction, Father Hoover said he sat to talk with his father about the desire. “(My father) said, ‘You made me the happiest man in the whole Church today. I often prayed that one of my boys would be a priest.’”

Father Hoover reflected on his years as a priest. “We’re in this to serve, not to take,” he said. “The most gratifying thing — outside of church — was serving people. Serving them always.” Father Hoover loved his priesthood, and he gave it his all.

In addition to his parish assignments, Father Hoover had nearly four decades of experience in education. He received his master’s in religious education from Creighton University in 1970. He began his education career in the diocese by teaching at both the public and Catholic high schools in Beloit. From 1963-66, he led local efforts to establish the North Central Vocational Technical College, which is now called North Central College in Beloit. Also in 1963, he served as the CYO Diocesan Director. He also taught in the public school in Mankato, where he served as pastor of St. Theresa Parish. In addition to being in the classroom, he served for nearly a decade as superintendent of Catholic schools. While superintendent, he was also appointed as the director of religious education.

(B.A. from Marymount College, Salina, 1964) He attended seminary at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis.He was ordained April 2, 1960, by Bishop Frederick Freking at St. Francis Xavier Church in Junction City.&nbsp;The following are comments from Father Hoover that were pulled from an article in the May 22, 2020, issue of the Register.Upon celebrating his 60th&nbsp;anniversary to the priesthood, Father James Hoover once said, “I was one of these ones who pushed and burned the candle at both ends. I thought, ‘Those guys don’t live too long,’ but I did.”The desire to be a priest was one he experienced at a young age. Father Hoover said he was eight years old, working in the silo of his family’s dairy farm. He was praying as he assisted in filling the silo and eventually became stuck in the mounds of silage. “It was starting to get up to my chest, but I wasn’t worried,” Father Hoover said. “God got me into this, he would get me out.” Eventually, when the grain was up to his chin, his older brother peered into the silo, saw the stuck child and pulled him out.The next day, Father Hoover told his parents of his desire to become a priest. Initially unsure about his parent’s reaction, Father Hoover said he sat to talk with his father about the desire. “(My father) said, ‘You made me the happiest man in the whole Church today. I often prayed that one of my boys would be a priest.’”Father Hoover reflected on his years as a priest. “We’re in this to serve, not to take,” he said. “The most gratifying thing — outside of church — was serving people. From 1963-66, he led local efforts to establish the North Central Vocational Technical College, which is now called North Central College in Beloit. Also in 1963, he served as the CYO Diocesan Director. He also taught in the public school in Mankato, where he served as pastor of St. Theresa Parish. In addition to being in the classroom, he served for nearly a decade as superintendent of Catholic schools. Carl Robert Segerhammar was born on November 7, 1946, in Belleville, Kansas, to Carl Warren &amp; Evelyn (Tornquist) Segerhammar. Carl grew up in Kackley, Kansas, and attended Kackley Grade School up to the 8th grade. He then attended and graduated from Courtland High School, class of 1964.

Following high school, Carl enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following deployment to Vietnam, Carl was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal. During his years in the Vietnam War, Carl worked as a teletype operator.

Carl was united in marriage to Sharon Phillips on February 8th, 1969, in Marysville, Kansas, and to this union of over 50 years, two sons were born.

Carl worked as a sheriff’s deputy in Lyons County, Kansas, then a salesman for Moormon Feed Co. He also worked in the training department at Wolf Creek Power Plant in Burlington, Kansas. Carl and his family then traveled overseas to work for Bouygues – Blount in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This was a joint venture between a&nbsp;French and American company, contracted to build King Saud University. When he returned to the United States, Carl worked for Manna Pro Feed Company as an equine specialist covering 19 states.

Upon retirement, Carl stayed busy tending to his sheep herd in Kackley, Kansas, and farming with Lance Hedstrom. One of Carl’s many hobbies utilized his “gift of gab” and auctioneering skills to help various organizations with their charitable sales. In addition, Carl worked part time for Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home.

He was a lifelong member of the Ada Lutheran Church. Carl was also a member of the Pope’s People singing group, Courtland Masonic Lodge #211 A.F. &amp; A.M., ISIS Shrine Temple of Salina, the Republic County Farm Bureau Association, Scandia American Legion Albert Issacson - James Larson Post #193, Marine Corps League, Kansas Sheep Association, Courtland Arts Council, and Cloud County Community College Ag Advisory Board. &nbsp;

Carl passed away on April 4th, 2022, at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 28 days.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carl Warren and Evelyn Segerhammar, son Kyle Warren Segerhammar in 1997 and brother Paul Warren Segerhammar.

He is survived by and will be forever remembered by his wife Sharon of Courtland, Kansas; son Todd Robert Segerhammar of Concordia, Kansas; grandson Bradley Barfield of Tennessee, grandsons Logan and Luke Barfield of Georgia, sister Ann Ward and her husband Dennis of Augusta, Kansas; brother-in-law Lonnie Phillips and his wife Carol of Marysville, Kansas; brother-in-law Gary Phillips and his wife Sharon of Marysville, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, and a community of friends.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the Ada Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, Kansas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may sign Carl’s book on Monday, April 11th, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, Kansas.

James Robert “Jim” Attleson, 90, of Lindsborg died Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Riverview Estates in Marquette.  Jim was born October 28, 1931 in New Hampton, IA to the late Sjur G. and the late Andrena M. (Johnson) Attleson.  

Jim graduated high school in 1949.  He also attended eight years of night school at the University of Denver Extension. 

 Jim was the husband of the late Dolores Attleson. 

 He was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. 

Jim worked as a planned giving coordinator.  He was the Director of Planned Giving at Bethany College, St. Francis Boys Homes, and retired from O.C.C.K. in 1994.  

Active in his community, Jim was a member of American Legion Post #140 Lindsborg, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2715 McPherson, was a past president of the American Business Clubs (AMBUCS), and a past president of the Lindsborg Rotary Club. 

 Dedicated to his faith, Jim was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. It was here that he was a member of the first class of Stephen’s Ministries, sat on the church council, and was a past chair of the Worship Music Committee.

He is survived by daughters Kimberly Blomberg (Kent), of Lindsborg, KS and Karla J. Pihl (Kendall), of Falun, KS; son Kevin J. Attleson (Kim), of Bella Vista, AR; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; as wells as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dolores; son Keith Attleson; brothers Bud and Dick Attleson; sisters Signora Goss, Melba Gilbert, Karen Feind; and Paulette Trewin; three nieces; and one nephew.

Visitation will be Monday, April 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 320 N. Main St., Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Chris Deines officiating.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Lori enjoyed hanging out with her friends, watching the football games, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, helping friends out, and spending time with family. She loved delivering meals for Meals on Wheels and helping friends get to their appointments, fried chicken and French Silk Pie. Lori really enjoyed her dogs and cats and caring for strays. Christi Renee Spielman, 54, was surrounded by her family as she passed away on the morning of March 30, 2022. She was born November 10, 1967 at Topeka to Lloyd and Patricia (Olejnik) Tomson. 

She graduated from Rossville High School in 1986 and went on to attend and graduate from Washburn University. 

Christi married Michael K. Spielman on September 25, 1994 at Sacred Heart in Delia, Kansas. They raised three children, Benjamin, Brandon and Katelyn (Katie). 

Christi was employed at Fork in the Road, Riley, Kansas. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Clay Center. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Spielman.

She is survived by her family, sons Benjamin Spielman and Brandon Spielman, Manhattan, and daughter,Katie Spielman, Clay Center; her parents Lloyd and Patricia Tomson, Rossville; a brother, Craig (JoAnn) Tomson, Wichita; a sister, Jill (Marc) Carver, Topeka; a sister-in-law Kerri Spielman, Clay Center; in-laws Norval and Linda Spielman, Manhattan; nephews Zayden Tomson; Tyler, Garrett and Jacob Carver; Jordan, Justin, Jonathan and Jason Entgelmeier; and so many more family members and wonderful friends.

A celebration of life service will be held for Christi on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Clay Center at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will be a private service with family

Dan retired from full time ministry in 2018 due to declining health but remained a faithful pastor to many and found creative ways to share the gospel wherever he went.&nbsp; Three simple words, “Enjoy the Gift” was his way of creating a joyful introduction to any stranger that he would meet.&nbsp; This opened up the door to share Jesus with them.&nbsp; Dan’s gift of compassion for others led him to visit many people over the years in their time of need.&nbsp; Dan had a beautiful singing voice and played his guitar for over 55 years.&nbsp; He was a man of prayer.&nbsp; He will be remembered as well for his quick puns and jokes!

Dan’s life verse was Romans 1:16 “ For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

In 1984, Dan married Cheryl Baughman Kline with whom he shared 38 years of life together in full-time ministry.&nbsp; Dan was a faithful dedicated father to daughter, Alicia Kline Hendrickson and son, Joshua Kline.

Dan is survived by his wife Cheryl, daughter Alicia Kline Hendrickson, son-in-law Chuck Hendrickson, all of West Grove, PA, and son Joshua Kline of Anderson, Indiana.

Also surviving are his&nbsp; Dave (Patricia) Kline of Sewell, NJ, Jon (Joanne) of Franklinville, NJ, sister Cheryl DeShazier of CharlesTown, IN; sister Karlene VanNess of West Sussex, England and half-brother George Jones of Santa Cruz, CA, and extended family.

A service will be held at&nbsp; First Baptist Church in Clay Center KS, on Saturday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m.. Friends can visit with the family one hour prior to the service.&nbsp;

Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS&nbsp;

Marcella grew up in Falls City, Nebraska. The family moved to Abilene when she was a senior in high school. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1948 and continued her education and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1952 with an education degree. Marcella taught at second grade for 44 years at Garfield Elementary. 

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Retired Teachers Association. 

Marcella is survived by her brother, Patrick McMahon Jr, of Hutchinson, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ella Jo Callahan, sister Mary Neerman and brother-in-law Charles Neerman; sister Marjorie Caldarulo and brother-in-law Dominick Caldarulo; sister-in-law Carolyn McMahon; nieces Joann (Caldarulo) Link; nephewsPatrick Callahan and Eric Hammerschmidt and infant nieces Cassandra Link and Bridgette Kentopp.

SALINA -&nbsp;Donovan Leroy Shaw, 81, born November 1, 1940 in Joplin, Missouri, passed away March 30, 2022 in his Salina home.

Donovan is survived by a brother, Dean Shaw of Washington, five sons, William and his three children; Teymoor, his wife Tamara and their five children; Michael, his wife Ashlee and their six children; Donnie and his son; and Jerry, and his three children; for a total of 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah; son Buddy Lee; daughter Donna Louisa, and daughter-in-law Lana.

Don Shaw was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a horseman, a true cowboy, who drove cattle from Texas to Kansas on horseback. Also, an excellent artist with paint and ink, and master carpenter. When he was a young man he was a semi-pro baseball player and skilled at tennis, pool and golf. He was an animal lover who enjoyed telling stories about his horses, dogs and cat. Don loved fishing and hunting and was an excellent marksman. When asked, he said that his favorite places to be were on the back of his favorite horse, Big Red, and in his workshop woodworking.

Don will be remembered as a loving, strong and kind man. He was soft spoken but of strong mind. He loved order and peace and spending time with his family.

A private family memorial service will take place.

Jolaine Hemmy&nbsp;was born in Salina, Kansas, to Richard and Elverda Hemmy on August 11, 1948. She came from a very large closeknit family that was full of love. Jolaine was a beautiful young woman with large brown eyes, long brown hair who was very shy.

When Jolaine was 17 years old, on July 1, 1966 she vanished without a trace. 

On July 5, 1966 an unidentified young woman was found drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel in Pecos, Texas. The town of Pecos embraced this young woman and laid her to rest in their cemetery.

Fifty-five years later the Pecos Police Chief Lisa Tarango came to Salina to let the family know that their <a href="https://salinapost.com/posts/bdd915d0-de0b-4bd6-91ed-eb4e8c727625">loved one was in fact the unidentified young woman known to the city of Pecos as Pecos Jane Doe</a>.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elverda Hemmy; her father Richard Hemmy; three sisters, Janice Brown, Darlene Williams and Carolyn Grout Hemmy; and brothers Richard Jr. and Larry.

Survivors include her sisters, Rosemary Divilbiss, Joyce Hemmy, Marilyn Edwards, and Barbara Marsh; and her brothers Paul, Jim, John, Bill and Jerry.

There will be a graveside memorial Service for Jolaine Hemmy at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9th at the All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 3350 E. Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas. Fr. Keith Weber will officiate the service.

Following the service there will be a get together at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1000 Burr Oak Lane, Salina, Kansas.

Susan "Sue" Rasher Siebert Shuman&nbsp;passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022 after a 10-year fight with cancer.

Sue was born March 9, 1939 in Abilene Kansas to Leslie G. and Rema V. Rasher. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1957.&nbsp; She graduated from Kansas State University in 1961. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. 

Sue married Bill Siebert in June, 1961 and moved to California. They later moved back to Salina in 1964. They had a daughter, Cindy, and a son, Scott. They later divorced.

Sue was a secretary for Hampton, Royce, Engleman and Nelson, attorneys, for a number of years before going to work for Frisbie Construction in the early 1970s. Sue purchased World Travel Center in 1984. Sue fulfilled her dream of escorting numerous groups on trips throughout the world and was integral in creating wonderful memories for so many. She sold her agency and retired in September, 2017.

On May 9, 1987, Sue married John Shuman and they were married for nearly 21 years before his passing on January 29, 2008.

Over the years Sue enjoyed being a part of the Silver Sabres Drum and Bugle corps, playing bridge for many years, delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering at the Food Bank.

She always took time to attend all her kids' events and most all of her grandkids' events. After moving to Salina, Sue was an active member of the Church of the Incarnation. After retiring, Sue joined Trinity United Methodist Church in 2019.

Sue was always there to help any friend or stranger in need.&nbsp; She had a positive attitude which was an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a special way of making those around her feel important and cared for. Sue was an outstanding mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. There was nothing she loved more than her family and the memories she made with them were the highlights of her life. Her second love was traveling and creating wonderful memories for all the groups who traveled the world with her.

Sue was a wonderful cook and frequently cooked meals for the 120+ Drum Corps members, friends and their families and always baked numerous batches of “everything cookies” for her group bus trips.

Sue leaves behind her daughter Cindy (Tom) Goldsmith, McPherson, KS; son Scott Siebert, Manhattan, KS, grandchildren, all of Wichita, KS, Claire (Spencer) Moore, Graham (Grace) Krizek, Cole (Colleen) Krizek, and great-granddaughters Sage, Rynn, and Sutton Krizek. She also leaves behind five stepchildren, Debbie Shuman, Scott Shuman, Ron Shuman, Donna Shuman, and Kathy Robison, seven stepgrandchildren, Eric Shuman (Chandreyee), Crista Eggers (Easton), Brett Shuman, Stetson Robison, Casey Robison (Shayla), Dillion Shuman, and John Shuman; five stepgreat-grandchildren, niece Sara Avery of Lafayette, CO as well as numerous cousins and many, many beloved friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Frank Cayton, and sister Nancy Avery.

Visitation will be Friday, May 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Harry Tysen of Maplewood, NJ and Eric Meyer, officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Abilene Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be given to Salina Emergency Aid/Food Bank or Friends of Salina Animal Shelter and can be mailed to Ryan Mortuary.

Rasher. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1957.&nbsp; She graduated from Kansas State University in 1961. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Sue married Bill Siebert in June, 1961 and moved to California. They later moved back to Salina in 1964. They had a daughter, Cindy, and a son, Scott. They later divorced.Sue was a secretary for Hampton, Royce, Engleman and Nelson, attorneys, for a number of years before going to work for Frisbie Construction in the early 1970s. Sue purchased World Travel Center in 1984. Sue fulfilled her dream of escorting numerous groups on trips throughout the world and was integral in creating wonderful memories for so many. She sold her agency and retired in September, 2017.On May 9, 1987, Sue married John Shuman and they were married for nearly 21 years before his passing on January 29, 2008.Over the years Sue enjoyed being a part of the Silver Sabres Drum and Bugle corps, playing bridge for many years, delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering at the Food Bank.She always took time to attend all her kids' events and most all of her grandkids' events. After moving to Salina, Sue was an active member of the Church of the Incarnation. After retiring, Sue joined Trinity United Methodist Church in 2019.Sue was always there to help any friend or stranger in need.&nbsp; She had a positive attitude which was an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a special way of making those around her feel important and cared for. Sue was an outstanding mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. There was nothing she loved more than her family and the memories she made with them were the highlights of her life. Debra Lynn Johnstone, 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 31st, 2022. Debra was born in Clay Center, Kansas on January 20, 1955, a daughter of James Forrest Brown and the late “Jo Ann” (Pfizenmaier) Brown. She was a graduate of Clay Center High School class of 1973. After high school she served in the United States Navy from 1973-1977 and then enrolled and graduated with an associate’s degree in early childhood development from San Diego State University. She is survived by three sons; Robert Johnstone, Brian Johnstone, Chris Johnstone; father James Brown; grandchildren Chuck, Laura, Sarah, Sabrina, Rebekah and six great-grandchildren. Debra is also survived by two sisters, Linda Riggle, Marla Pence and brother Scott Brown. Preceding her in death is her mother “Jo Ann” Brown. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, at Republican City Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. Evan was a graduate of Bennington High School and he attended Cloud County Community College.&nbsp; He worked for Western Auto/Advance Auto Parts for over 30 years.&nbsp;

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who always enjoyed hanging out with his best friends Kim, Cary, and Ron.

Evan was preceded in death by his parents.
