Mary M. (Cogdill) McCarty, 81, died May 13, 2022, at St. Luke’s Living Center, Marion. She was born September 29, 1940, at Marion. Mary was the daughter of James H. and Mary Cogdill.

She was a waitress at various restaurants in Marion County.

On March 9, 1958, she married Donald McCarty. To this union, nine children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Beatrice Martinez.

Survivors include six daughters, Jeanne (Doug) Penner, Barbara (Steve) Hein, Susan (Dan) Bernhardt, all of Hillsboro; Connie Williams of Marion, Traci (Craig) Maier of Lakewood, CO, and Kim (Mike) Melichar of Hutchinson; three sons, Donny Gene McCarty of Cimarron, Larry Earl McCarty of Tampa and Tate (Brandy) McCarty of McPherson; brother Butch (Mary Lou) Cogdill; two sisters, Judy Winter of Ness City, and Jackie Weathers of Ponca City, OK; one brother-in-law Larry (Karen) McCarty of Maple Lake, MN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family and there will be a private family interment at Claney Cemetery at a later date.
