Rose Marie Engling, 91, of Luray, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 13th, 2022. Rose Marie was born in Lucas, Kansas on June 22, 1930, a daughter of the late Luella F. (Beatty) and Charles A. Casper. She graduated as salutatorian from Luray High School in 1949. On Sept. 3, 1950, Rose Marie married Orval Robert Engling in Luray, Kansas. Survivors include her husband Orval Engling; daughter Susan E. Winter (Jeff), of Wichita, Kansas; two sons, Orval R. Engling Jr. (Nancy), of Lawrence, Kansas, Danny R. Engling, of Salina, Kansas. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florene Steinle (Edward), of Salina, Kansas, and Bertha Hilmer (Raymond), of Harrisburg, South Dakota. Rose Marie is preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice Bartlett, Katherine Casper, and Charlene Wright; four brothers, Don Terry, Z.W. Jeffrey Lee Tanuis went home to his Lord and Saviour April 8, 2022. He was born Oct. 2, 1965, to Theodore and Barbara (Stoppel) Tanuis in Waterbury, Connecticut.

He moved at the age of three to Salina and graduated from Salina Central High School in 1983.

Jeff was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving for seven years in Maine and England before working at the United States Postal Service in Salina for 26 years. 

He was a minister and member at Peters Rock Ministries.

Jeff was meticulous in his work. His smile and sense of humor was contagious. He knew no strangers. Jeff loved to cook and shared his talent with his family and friends. He was an avid KU and Kansas City Royals fan.

He loved to exercise and joke with his Dillons friends, but most importantly, spend time with family and spoiling his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye.

He is survived by his loving wife Janet; daughters Mikaela Jacobs (Jake), and Tess Tanui; son Taylor Atwell (Alex); beloved grandchildren Aiden Pearson, Sophia Jacobs, Emma Atwell and Addison Atwell; mother Barbara Tanuis; brothers Ed (Geri) Ted, Roger and boys Doug (Tina); sister Laurie Davidson (Jim); and his special sunt Barbara Daugherty; and many nieces and nephews.

His is preceded in death by his father Theodore Tanuis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford St. Salina, Kansas.

Judy J. Montague, 67, Salina, died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina. She was born February 23, 1955, in Concordia to Clifford and Roberta June (Somers) Stout.

Judy was a graduate of Minneapolis High School and she attended Brown Mackie College in Salina. She worked as a C.N.A. at Salina Regional Health Center for many years. 

Judy and Alva Lee Montague were united in marriage on January 5, 1974, in Salina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Brian Montague; and brothers Joe, David, and Ernie Stout.

Survivors are her husband of 48 years, Lee; son Tracy Montague and his wife Annie; daughter-in-law Melissa Montague; brothers Terry and Gary Stout; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.., Friday, April 22 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Private graveside services will be held Saturday at the Delphos Cemetery.

Hillsboro - Jeraldine Klose, 87, passed away April 13, 2022 at Salem Home in Hillsboro. She was born December 30, 1934 southeast of Peabody to Edward and Freda (Dohner) Hess. 

She married Albert Klose May 29, 1952 in Peabody. 

Survivors include granddaughters Crystal Hicks Eason of Meade, Sunshine Hicks of Meade; grandson Josh Taylor of Larned; great-grandchildren JolleeAnn Hicks, Crissma Taylor, Tessa Eason.

Jeri has six other siblings, brothers Jim, Joe, and Don, sisters Mary, Florence (Tootsie), and the baby, Patsy L. Ann. 

Jeri attended Peabody High School and graduated in 1952. 

Jeri met Albert Klose on July 3, 1951, for a coffee in Marion, KS. In September, grandma worked a 12-hour shift at the Bax Car Café. She asked Al for a ride home; he was back Sunday afternoon, and the rest is history. 

On May 29th, 1952, Jeri married the love of her life, Albert “Al” Klose, in Peabody at the Methodist Parsonage by Rev D. Fry. The first home they shared was in Tampa, Kansas. 

The first bundle of joy, JoAnn Rose Klose Hicks was born on October 30, 1952. Grandma and Grandpa were very excited that their girl was the second baby born at St. Luke Hospital. 

The first Thanksgiving as a family of three, they were snowed in four days. They had planned on going to Peabody, so they did not shop. They had two potatoes, one-half loaf of bread, and four slices of bacon. Al and Lenard went out and fed the cattle and then shot a pheasant, for dinner. A half pumpkin pie was given to them, by Pearl. They did not make it to town, until the first Sunday in December. Pat, do you remember being put up on the refrigerator in our home in Tampa? Florence, how long has it been since you rode in a truck hauling wheat during harvest?

A few years later the second bundle of joy, Duane Ray Klose, was born on 9/28/1955, at St. Luke Hospital Marion, KS. On November 1, 1955, the family of four moved to Florence, Kansas to work for John DeForest. It was a very bitter cold day, and before they could get everything moved in, it began to snow. The only room in the house they could keep warm was the bathroom.

Jeri and Al, settled in Hillsboro, Kansas, buying their first home in 1957.

 Beginning in May, Al drove a truck for the Milk Producers, Inc. This is the first time Duane got lost. JoAnn, Duane, and the neighbor kid walked the block and half to the grocery store and Duane followed a dog and the girls walked on home. I could continue to record the wonderful stories that grandma has scripted but we will move on to her involvements.

Jeri was a very hard and dedicated worker and volunteer. She worked as a waitress, EMT, and Sunday school teacher. Her career was making people’s dreams come true as a real estate agent. Even her eldest granddaughter, Crystal, was helped to buy her first home. 

Jeri loved to volunteer and was a life member of the VFW Legion Auxiliary 526. Any activity that the Legion has put on Grandma was in the trenches making it happen. 

Her other passion is the Zion Lutheran Church. Her faith was impeccable as well as the influence of faith on anyone she encountered. Jeri had a vision, and that dream came true when the addition to the Zion Lutheran church was completed including a new kitchen. She desperately wanted to be in charge there.

Jeri became a grandma on May 23, 1974. Her daughter JoAnn and husband Earl gave birth to Crystal Marie Hicks. Her son Duane had a son, Joshua Taylor, on 2/14/1975, born at St. Luke Hospital in Marion, KS. The third grandchild, Sunshine Francis Hicks, was born on 7/31/1980 at St. Luke Hospital, to Earl and JoAnn.

Grandma had quite that adventurous side to her. She enjoyed telling stories about riding motorcycles and racing them. She would take off with a group and go to OK for the weekend and let the wild side ring. She never told us about her riding a motorcycle enjoyment until she moved into Salem. We like to give Grandma flack, that we knew we all got our wild and adventurous side from her.

Jeri’s faith was indescribable as she lost her son, Duane, to ascending aorta aneurysm, on January 13, 2005. She then lost her daughter to colon cancer on June 23, 2005.

Albert and Jeri spent their time playing cards, gambling, and playing bingo. Boy, they loved to play bingo. 

Then came along the start of great-grandkids. On August 13, 2010, came JoleeAnn Rose, daughter of Sunshine Hicks. Grandma could not wait to get her hands on the baby girl. When Sunshine came to, the first person she saw was Grandma. Grandma and Grandpa could not get enough of the great-grands. Then came Carisma, Duane, granddaughter Tessa JoAnn Eason was born on June 6, 2013, to Robert and Crystal Eason. 

On November 8, 2014, Jeri lost the love of her life, Al, to prostate, bladder, and lung cancer. 

Grandma devoted her time to supporting VA veterans, the church, the Legion, the American Cancer Society, and traveling the states with her sisters, and Aunt Lavaughn. Grandma would travel out and spend time with Crystal, Sunshine, Joey, and Tessa. Some of the most amazing memories were made at the park, in the kitchen, and around the dining room table.

In April of 2018, Jeri moved into Salem Home after a fall and hip fracture. She thrived in that environment. She was the social butterfly of the facility. She would lead residents in exercise groups, bible studies, and stamp collections, and of course, she played bingo. She collected games and activities to do with Joey and Tessa. The staff at Salem became her other family. She would just rave about the care, the whirlpools, and the activities. “I could not be treated better anywhere by anyone.” The sisters and “her girls” would visit as much as we could. Grandma had the red carpet rolled out for her with exceptional treatment up to the time she joined her heavenly father, her love, and her children.

When Jim was in the second grade, the family moved to Manhattan. He attended Manhattan schools and graduated in 1966. Soon after graduation, he moved to Hillsboro with his family and worked at Paul and Ray's Supermarket before moving to Topeka, where he worked in the supply room at Stormont Vail Hospital.

There in Topeka, he met and married Diana Kistner on October 11, 1970. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Tami and Laurie. In 1972, Jim and Diana moved back to Hillsboro and Jim worked at Hillsboro Ford for 42 years. He was always a Ford man. Jim was a very kind and caring man, and his family was always his main priority and love. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

Survivors include his wife Diana, of 51 years, daughters Tami Hadley of Newton and Laurie Morales-Diaz (Mike) of Manhattan, two granddaughters, Ianni and Aiyanna Morales-Diaz of Manhattan, brother Pearl Hadley (Velma) of Hillsboro, sister Joyce Steele of Moscow, Idaho, sister-in-law Trudy Bowen (Charley) of Rogersville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. Billie Mack Sandidge, 89, of Mcpherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:20 a.m., Thursday, April 14th, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, with her daughter at her side. Billie was born in Prescott, Arkansas on August 30, 1932, a daughter of Ruby Mae (Goad) and Haze Beavert. Billie attended the Prescott grade schools and graduated from Prescott High School, Prescott, Arkansas in 1950. Billie Mack Beavert was united in marriage to Billy Jack Sandidge on December 23, 1950 at Gurdon, Arkansas. On October 5, 1951 the young couple moved to McPherson where they would make their home. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, one son and one daughter, Randy and Tracy. She was a member of First Baptist Church McPherson, where she served as Sunday school teacher, worked with the youth program, White Cross, and the funeral committee and was a faithful member of the Y.E.S. Sunday School class. Billie was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She started working at Dillion's Grocery Store as a clerk and later for Western Auto also as a clerk. Billie worked for 21 years for U.S.D. 418 School Lunch Program serving lunch at the McPherson Junior High and later at the high school. Billie loved her grandchildren, Christmas, flower gardening and working in her yard. She also enjoyed watching the Royals baseball team, playing bingo, dominos, and playing cards with her friends. She is survived by her daughter Tracy Viola and her husband Jeff of McPherson, Kansas; her brother Jimmie Beavert of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her two grandchildren Ryan Viola and wife Shannon and Morgan Williams and husband Mike; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Williams, Tyler Williams, and Mason Viola; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Scott was born on&nbsp; January 19, 1982, in Newton, KS, son of Paul Stanley Neufeld and Rhonda Kay (Epp) Neufeld.&nbsp; He attended Hillsboro and McPherson High Schools.

His vocations consisted of factory worker, skilled laborer, and construction worker.&nbsp; He struggled with health issues and addictions throughout his life.&nbsp; He dearly loved his only daughter, Kristin Neufeld, even from a distance.

Scott joined God’s family at an early age.&nbsp; He enjoyed his early childhood life on the family dairy farm in northeast Marion County, KS.

Scott married Jennifer Noriega November 6, 2004.&nbsp; Kristin Holly Neufeld was born to them on April 27, 2007.

Scott is now in the presence of his Lord, completely healed from his illnesses, addictions, and struggles.

He is survived by his parents Stan and Carla Neufeld of McPherson, KS and Rhonda Liles of Grove, OK; three sisters, Laura (Dustin) Hendricks of Canton, KS, Amy (Josh) White of McPherson, KS and Megan (Roby) Levika of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Daniel Word of Wichita, KS; former spouse Jennifer Musinski and daughter Kristin Neufeld of Junction City, KS; nephews Cohen Hendricks, Cade Hendricks and Otto White; nieces Harper White and Mia Levika; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sherry L. Campbell, 84, passed away, surrounded by family, Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in Wichita, KS. She was born April 12, 1938 in Bay City, MI to Glen and Velma (Dearden) Chateauneuf. 

Sherry married Douglass C. Campbell, Sr. in Bay City on February 2, 1957. The couple resided in Ann Arbor, MI and later moved to Bloomfield Hills, MI. 

Sherry was a church secretary for the Franklin Community Church in Franklin, MI, and homemaker. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bay City. 

Following Douglass’s passing, Sherry moved to Lyons, KS and then Ellsworth, KS. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth and active in the church’s Presbyterian Women group.

Sherry is survived by her daughters Cynthia Hoffman (Bill) of Hillsdale, MI, and Genifer Wesseler (David) of Lorraine, KS; son Douglass Campbell, Jr. (Arlene) of Henderson, NV; grandchildren Justin Rinehart (Christie), Jessica Rinehart, and Dave Wesseler; great-grandchildren Joshua and Grace; brother Glen Chateauneuf, Jr. (Beth); and sister Janet Witucki. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Douglass; and brother-in-law Ron Witucki.

A celebration of life service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Ellsworth First Presbyterian Church. A private family inurnment will take place.

She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth and active in the church’s Presbyterian Women group.Sherry is survived by her daughters Cynthia Hoffman (Bill) of Hillsdale, MI, and Genifer Wesseler (David) of Lorraine, KS; son Douglass Campbell, Jr. (Arlene) of Henderson, NV; grandchildren Justin Rinehart (Christie), Jessica Rinehart, and Dave Wesseler; great-grandchildren Joshua and Grace; brother Glen Chateauneuf, Jr. (Beth); and sister Janet Witucki. Ronald Lee (Ron) Pontier, 68, was born July 9, 1953, in Siloam Springs, AR, and died April 13, 2022, in Beloit, KS. 

He was raised in Central Africa by his missionary parents, Ray and Betty Pontier. After finishing up an engineering degree and aviation maintenance training, he met Donna (whom he later married) at Bible college, and got his pilot’s training. He returned to Africa as a missionary pilot with AIM AIR, the aviation wing of Africa Inland Mission, and flew all over East and Central Africa for 30 years. When he stopped flying he built housing for missionaries in remote areas.

Throughout his life Ron captivated people with his stories, fixed their broken solar panels, motorcycles and cars, was passionate about encouraging the African church in war-torn places, and because of the high value he put on connecting with the local people, picked up seven or eight foreign languages. Though he flew long hours he was an amazing husband and father. His faith was central, and every morning you would find him with his morning coffee, reading his Bible and praying.

While working in South Sudan he became ill and was diagnosed with cancer in September 2020, and came to Beloit, where two of his daughters had recently moved. There you could find him out walking to stay as strong as possible to fight the cancer as hard as he could. If you talked to him you would notice and hear about the hope he had in Christ and the assurance he had that if he didn’t survive the cancer he would be called home to heaven, which would be incredible. &nbsp;

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Betty Pontier and sister Martha Pontier. 

He is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Donna and children Amanda (Andries) Horn (Beloit), Andrea (Ohilang, South Sudan), Benjamin (Nairobi, Kenya), and Brianna (Beloit); and siblings Jeannie (David) Morse, Jim (Melodie) Pontier and Carol (James) Allen.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Beloit First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. with family present from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 22 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

Alan’s life began on September 15, 1930, in Osage City, KS. He was the son of Manuel and Helen Coxen. 

Alan was united in marriage to the former Donna J. Dyck on July 7, 1954, in McPherson. 

He is a graduate of Kansas University and served his country in the United States Army. Alan was a geological engineer for Phillips Petroleum prior to retiring and moving to Marion Co. Lake. 

He is survived by his children Donald (Melissa) Coxen of Tuttle, OK, Alane (David) Brumbaugh of Bartlesville, OK and Andra (Daniel) Johnson of Booneville, AR; three grandchildren and sisters Lela Prine of Osage City and Alice (Jim) Caton of Rossville, KS. 

Alan passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2022, at Salem Home in Hillsboro. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna.

Daniel E. Britt, 71, of Abilene, passed away April 13, 2022, from cancer. He was born August 16, 1950, in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Elvin and Lona (Conn) Britt. He grew up on a farm in the Talmage area, where he attended grade school. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1968. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, working many years with his father. He served on the Flora Township Board for more than 25 years and as a local volunteer firefighter. He was a longtime member of the Longford Rodeo Club and enjoyed helping with the annual Longford Rodeo. He also was a member of the Longford Lions Club. He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, and friends. He especially enjoyed taking his grandsons on tractor and four-wheeler rides. On March 21, 1970, he was united in marriage to Cindy Watson, of Abilene.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife Cindy of the home; two daughters, Karrey Britt (Chris Hoppe), of Lawrence; and Kandi Britt of Topeka; and four grandsons, Aidan Weeks and Jonathan Britt, of Topeka; and Will and Noah Lutter, of Wamego; brothers Ronald Britt, of Maineville, Ohio, and Steve Britt, of Salina, sister Karen Watt, of Salina; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by son Josh Britt; brother Gerald Britt; and parents Elvin and Lona Britt. Funeral services for Daniel will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Prairiedale Cemetery north of Talmage with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends at the Talmage Library (the old school house). Friends may sign the register book at the Danner Funeral Home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Memorial Health Center in Abilene or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center in Salina, where they provided exceptional care for Daniel. On Wednesday, December 30, 2020&nbsp;Gerald "Jerry" Benoit, after a tough battle with Covid-19 crossed over to be with his Lord and rejoin his parents and sister.&nbsp; He was born on January 18, 1951 in Rooks County Kansas to Bernard and Marie (Brown) Benoit.

An avid KU fan, he enjoyed watching KU basketball with family and friends.&nbsp; His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing golf.&nbsp; His biggest joy was spending time with his three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce Gosselin.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth of the home, a son Ed (Sarah) Benoit of Salina, daughters Laura (Jimmy) Orton of Taylor, TX, and Melanie Benoit of Salina, grandchildren Jessalyn Colborn, Parker Benoit, and Olivia Benoit, all of Salina,&nbsp;brothers Bob (Kayleen) Benoit of Wichita, KS, Daniel (Janella) Benoit of Manhattan, KS, Lawrence (Jolene) Benoit of Damar, KS, and David (Carmen) Benoit of Pueblo West, CO, sisters Carol McKenna of Russell, KS, and Martha (Roger) Irby of Aurora, CO, and many nephews and nieces.

Gerald 'Jerry' Benoit

Susan (Sue) K. McDonald, 60, of McPherson and formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2022. Sue was a lifelong educator, most recently Professor Emeritus at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.

Sue was born on March 9, 1962, in Berkeley, California, the daughter of Clarence E. and Lois (Kay) McDonald.&nbsp; She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1980.&nbsp; She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University in 1983, her Master of Science degree in Geology from Indiana State University in 1990 and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics at Indiana University in 1994.&nbsp; On May 10, 1987, Sue was united in marriage to Dale Griffith in Penton, Michigan.&nbsp; They were married 34 years before Dale’s passing on February 5, 2022.

Sue and Dale’s marriage began in Kansas City and Washington DC, working as Mechanical Engineers for Babcock and Wilcox until Sue’s return to school to complete her master’s and doctoral studies.&nbsp; Sue and Dale lived in Terre Haute, Indiana and Sioux City, Iowa while Sue completed her degrees, following which she began her academic career at Morningside University.&nbsp; Sue and Dale then moved to Kansas to accept her professorship position at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, where she retired Emeritus in 2012.&nbsp; Throughout the years, she shared her love of Earth Science as an instructor at the yearly summer field camp experience at Indiana University’s Judson Mead Geologic Field Station in Cardwell, Montana. &nbsp;A residential facility was named in her honor at the Field Station in 2021.&nbsp; Dr. McDonald loved working with her students and positively impacted the lives of many along the way.

Sue and Dale built a home outside of Lindsborg, KS and later in Marquette, KS.&nbsp; During their time in Lindsborg, Dale and Sue participated in the Bike Across Kansas ride together, starting at the Colorado Border and ending in Kansas City eight days later.&nbsp; Sue began running marathons with her good friend Julia.&nbsp; They completed 4 half and 4 full marathons together including events in Abilene, KS, Wichita, KS, and Fargo, ND where Sue christened the team’s name “Not Fast, Not Last.”

Sue and Dale found Community in Marquette.&nbsp; They found their fur-baby, Lucy, in the streets of Marquette and gave her a home.&nbsp; Sue became a member of the Marquette United Methodist Church where she served as church Treasurer and provided Science enrichment activities for the children on Wednesday nights.&nbsp; She was known to students in the area as “Science Sue.” She could often be found at the Motorcycle Museum in Marquette, giving tours, assisting with rallies, and chatting with visitors and friends in the community.&nbsp;

Sue was diagnosed with stage IV Stomach Cancer in December 2012.&nbsp; In spring 2013, following initial treatments, she was flown by Angel Flight to MD Anderson, where her care team completed surgery to remove her stomach.&nbsp; She endured chemotherapy, radiation, and a host of other ongoing medical procedures throughout the years but continued to fight with optimism and a smile on her face.&nbsp; She met life-long friends throughout this journey.

Sue moved to McPherson in 2020 and adopted another fur-baby.&nbsp; She rescued her dog Pumpkin and gave her a forever home.&nbsp; Sue and Pumpkin made many new friends in her neighborhood at Veranda Place.&nbsp; Sue enjoyed going for walks, playing cards, reading, painting, attending concerts and hanging out with friends and cousins, Michele and Kelli.&nbsp; She also developed a friendship with a group that she called “Her Sista’s” Veletta, Cathy and Donna.

Dr. McDonald was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lois, and her husband, Dale.

Survivors include her two sisters, Nancy McDonald (Kris Hughes) of Palm Desert, CA, Judy Marty (Randall Hartog) of Fargo, ND; Nieces/Nephews, Aaron Marty (Sarah) of Sioux Falls, SD, Hope Solberg (Samuel) of Riverview, FL, and Faith Marty (Keegan) of Denver, CO;&nbsp; Great Nieces/Nephews, Calvin and Keegan Marty, Margot Solberg; Brother/Sisters In-Law, Rick Griffith (Karen), Mary Griffith; Uncles/Aunt, Robert McDonald, Larry (Shari) Carney; Cousins, Mark Buehler (Donna), Suzanne Prickett &nbsp;(Mike), Michele Peel (Kerry “Kap”), Kelli Dossett (Mike), Clementine Balon and several more cousins;&nbsp; and Fur-babies Lucy and Pumpkin.&nbsp; Sue enjoyed very special relationships with many friends.

A Celebration of Life for both Sue and Dale will be held at 2pm Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N Chestnut St, McPherson KS with Rev. Lynn Scott officiating. A reception will be held following at the Veranda Clubhouse, 931 Veranda Circle, McPherson, KS.

 </figure>Susan (Sue) K. McDonald, 60, of McPherson and formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2022. Sue was a lifelong educator, most recently Professor Emeritus at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.Sue was born on March 9, 1962, in Berkeley, California, the daughter of Clarence E. and Lois (Kay) McDonald.&nbsp; She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1980.&nbsp; She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University in 1983, her Master of Science degree in Geology from Indiana State University in 1990 and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics at Indiana University in 1994.&nbsp; On May 10, 1987, Sue was united in marriage to Dale Griffith in Penton, Michigan.&nbsp; They were married 34 years before Dale’s passing on February 5, 2022.Sue and Dale’s marriage began in Kansas City and Washington DC, working as Mechanical Engineers for Babcock and Wilcox until Sue’s return to school to complete her master’s and doctoral studies.&nbsp; Sue and Dale lived in Terre Haute, Indiana and Sioux City, Iowa while Sue completed her degrees, following which she began her academic career at Morningside University.&nbsp; Sue and Dale then moved to Kansas to accept her professorship position at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, where she retired Emeritus in 2012.&nbsp; Throughout the years, she shared her love of Earth Science as an instructor at the yearly summer field camp experience at Indiana University’s Judson Mead Geologic Field Station in Cardwell, Montana. &nbsp;A residential facility was named in her honor at the Field Station in 2021.&nbsp; Dr. McDonald loved working with her students and positively impacted the lives of many along the way.Sue and Dale built a home outside of Lindsborg, KS and later in Marquette, KS.&nbsp; During their time in Lindsborg, Dale and Sue participated in the Bike Across Kansas ride together, starting at the Colorado Border and ending in Kansas City eight days later.&nbsp; Sue began running marathons with her good friend Julia.&nbsp; They completed 4 half and 4 full marathons together including events in Abilene, KS, Wichita, KS, and Fargo, ND where Sue christened the team’s name “Not Fast, Not Last.”Sue and Dale found Community in Marquette.&nbsp; They found their fur-baby, Lucy, in the streets of Marquette and gave her a home.&nbsp; Sue became a member of the Marquette United Methodist Church where she served as church Treasurer and provided Science enrichment activities for the children on Wednesday nights.&nbsp; She was known to students in the area as “Science Sue.” She could often be found at the Motorcycle Museum in Marquette, giving tours, assisting with rallies, and chatting with visitors and friends in the community.&nbsp;Sue was diagnosed with stage IV Stomach Cancer in December 2012.&nbsp; In spring 2013, following initial treatments, she was flown by Angel Flight to MD Anderson, where her care team completed surgery to remove her stomach.&nbsp; She endured chemotherapy, radiation, and a host of other ongoing medical procedures throughout the years but continued to fight with optimism and a smile on her face.&nbsp; She met life-long friends throughout this journey.Sue moved to McPherson in 2020 and adopted another fur-baby.&nbsp; She rescued her dog Pumpkin and gave her a forever home.&nbsp; Sue and Pumpkin made many new friends in her neighborhood at Veranda Place.&nbsp; Sue enjoyed going for walks, playing cards, reading, painting, attending concerts and hanging out with friends and cousins, Michele and Kelli.&nbsp; She also developed a friendship with a group that she called “Her Sista’s” Veletta, Cathy and Donna.Dr. McDonald was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lois, and her husband, Dale.Survivors include her two sisters, Nancy McDonald (Kris Hughes) of Palm Desert, CA, Judy Marty (Randall Hartog) of Fargo, ND; Nieces/Nephews, Aaron Marty (Sarah) of Sioux Falls, SD, Hope Solberg (Samuel) of Riverview, FL, and Faith Marty (Keegan) of Denver, CO;&nbsp; Great Nieces/Nephews, Calvin and Keegan Marty, Margot Solberg; Brother/Sisters In-Law, Rick Griffith (Karen), Mary Griffith; Uncles/Aunt, Robert McDonald, Larry (Shari) Carney; Cousins, Mark Buehler (Donna), Suzanne Prickett &nbsp;(Mike), Michele Peel (Kerry “Kap”), Kelli Dossett (Mike), Clementine Balon and several more cousins;&nbsp; and Fur-babies Lucy and Pumpkin.&nbsp; Sue enjoyed very special relationships with many friends.A Celebration of Life for both Sue and Dale will be held at 2pm Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N Chestnut St, McPherson KS with Rev. Melinda Grace (Minton) Howg, Sylvan Grove

Melinda G. Howg, 78, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, in Salina, KS, surrounded by her family. She was born the third of ten children, July 15, 1943, in San Diego, CA, to Glen and Emma Jean (Graber) Minton. 

She married Arthur Howg in Santa Ana, CA on July 23, 1961.

Melinda was everyone’s grandma. Anyone who knew her, knew how much she loved her family especially her great grand kids. Melinda was famous for popcorn balls on Halloween and always ran out so fast. You knew it would be the first place to stop. She was also known as the town seamstress and always had sewing projects. Even when Melinda retired, she still always worked doing foster grandparents and helping at the school. She was also a member of the Sylvan Grove First Presbyterian Church. To know Melinda was to love Melinda, she touched so many lives and will be missed dearly.

Melinda is survived by her daughters Susan Spiller of Sylvan Grove and Melinda Herman of Pretty Prairie, KS; son Emmett Howg (Gaylene) of Lincoln, KS; granddaughters Amanda Howg (Will) of Sylvan Grove and Brianna Byrum (Kenzy) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; great-grandchildren Jasper and Rowen; siblings Jean Ann Prestridge (Allen), Peter Minton (Yolanda), Shirley Minton, Greta Cline (David), Susie Williams (Tom), Charlotte Smith (Kenneth), Robin Crum (Mike), and Gerilyn Barton (Doug); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Howg; and brother Doug Minton.

A celebration of life service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Grove.

Galland E. Ellwood, 89, of Windom, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River.&nbsp; He was a devoted Christian, farmer, rancher, and family man.

Galland was born on August 26, 1932, in McPherson, KS, the son of Glenford LeRoy and Acelee (Neel) Ellwood.&nbsp; He graduated from Windom High School in 1951.&nbsp; On September 1, 1953, Galland was united in marriage to Della Mae Meek in Windom.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Michael, Randall, Rhonda, and Krystal.

He was a longtime member of the Windom community and the Windom Church of Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Della of the home; three children, Randall “Randy” (Nancy) Ellwood, Rhonda Fortenberry, and Krystal “Krysti” (Jason) Bergkamp, all of Windom, KS; two sisters, Jeanine (Stanley) McNally of Salina, KS and Linda (Bill) Teeter of Little River, KS; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Ellwood, two sons-in-law, Nick Prindle and David Fortenberry; and a great-grandson, Calum Block.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 16, at the Windom Cemetery.&nbsp; A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the McPherson Church of Christ with Minister Kenny Graham officiating.&nbsp;

Keith enlisted in the United States Army July 25, 1985. He spent 27 ½ years working for the government as a target system repairs specialist. 

On September 12, 1987 he was united in marriage to Melissa Jones in Abilene. 

Keith is survived by his loving wife Melissa of the home; daughter Danielle Bruce (Cory Dawson) of Abilene and Anthony Bruce (Daniela) of Junction City; five grandchildren, Dallas Stewart, Destiny Jones, Stormy Jones, Aiden Yeamans, Ava Dawson; brothers Robert Denton, Jr. and Jarrod Bruce; and sister Natalie Denton-Decker. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Denton and Rebecca (Spaw) Bruce. 

The family has chosen cremation. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery.

He graduated from Manhattan High School and from Manhattan Tech. Bill was an electrical lineman for DS&amp;O for over 40 years where he started out of Manhattan Tech and worked his entire career. His DS&amp;O family were his second family.

He enjoyed golfing, riding his Razr, and was an avid K-State Football fan. Bill loved time spent with his Peeps friends and family. He dreamt of travel in his retirement but sadly that wasn’t realized. On August 3, 2013 he was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Langdon in Littleton, Colorado. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Michelle Griggs of Devine, Texas, Jordan Ward and her husband Paul of Manassas, Virginia, stepdaughter Brooke Langdon of Denver, Colorado, son Travis Griggs of Wichita, stepson Nolan Langdon of Lawrence, nephew Jarrod Griggs of Manhattan, granddaughter Caydence Negrete and stepgrandson Watson St. John.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Roy and Ryan.
