Martha Fransham Obituary 2022 - Yazel - Megli Funeral Homes (yazelmeglifh.com)

October 3, 1920 - April 14, 2022

Martha was born on October 3, 1920, in Gypsum, KS, and passed away peacefully in beautiful, sunny Mesa, AZ at the age of 101 ½ on April 14, 2022. 

Martha married Glenn Henry Fransham on October 3, 1942, at the family farm in Gypsum, KS. 

Martha was a homemaker, co-builder alongside her husband Glenn, with the construction of their home in North Wichita (having never obtained a loan of any type), gardener (fondly remembered for her delicious raspberry jelly), seamstress, etc. When she went to work outside of the home she worked for J.M.McDonalds, J.C.Penney's, various housekeeping jobs and Valley Center Elementary School kitchen staff, until the age of 90.  She was an active member of the Valley Center First United Methodist Church for over 65 years.

Martha and Glenn were married for 48 years, and she lived in the home that they built together for 67 years.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Martha (Mortimer) Spellman, brothers Rolla, Don and Paul Spellman, sister Alta Schwarz, husband Glenn Fransham, daughter Janet Emler, grand-daughter Nanette Emler, sons-in-law Jim Emler and Charles Kannady.

Martha is survived by her daughters Linda Kannady of Marion, KS/Mesa, AZ, Mellodie Stratman (Monte) of Marana, AZ and Jolene Roach (Jeff) of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Janelle Wilson, Dirk Kannady (Tonya), Eric Kannady (Lindsey), Dax Kannady (Emily), Marc Stratman (Oana), Matt Stratman, Melissa Vandiver (Matthew), Jennifer McCoy and Jason Roach (Kim); great-grandchildren Christina Wilson, Susie Tenbrink (Nick), J.T. Wilson, Rylie Kannady, Avery Kannady, Gage Kannady, Caleb Vandiver, Jonah Vandiver, Joshua McCoy, Isaiah McCoy, Lucas Roach and Liliana Roach; great-great-grandchild Rylynn DeMers Tenbrink; as well as a host of treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, neighbors, and acquaintances.

Martha's Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, 560 N. Park, Valley Center, KS  67147.  The inurnment will be held privately.  Live streaming will be available. Please contact the church closer to service date for details.
