LeRock
(LeRoch) Joseph Brin, 91, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully in his
sleep on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Brookdale Senior Living Home. He was
born October 13, 1933, in Damar, Kansas, the son of Adrian and Emma (Lanoue)
Brin.

LeRock
graduated from Damar High School in 1952. During his high school years, he
played baseball, loved dancing and enjoyed driving his hot rods. As a teenager,
he bought his very first Model T for $25 that he drove 131 miles with his
grandmother, from Aurora, Kansas to Damar.

After
graduating from high school, he married Germaine Thyfault on June 12, 1952.
They were married for 24 years in which they loved to go out dancing with their
friends. LeRock was a jack of all trades, he was the first owner/operator of
the filling station located on highway 18 at Damar. He also owned heavy dirt
moving equipment and was a soil conservation contractor, spending countless hours
building terraces and water ways throughout Rooks and Graham counties. LeRock
was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

LeRock
and his family moved to Salina, KS, in 1969, where he started a remodeling and
drywall business. Later in life, he purchased and drove his own semi-truck for
Stress Cast of Salina. 

He
was married to Beverly Mauk and later in life he had a long relationship with
June Rotach. In his final years he enjoyed working in his welding shop where he
made all kinds of unique gadgets, planting a large garden, and hanging out with
his best buddy, Spike (the dog.)

Survivors
include his four children: Jerry Lee (Tillie) Brin of Wichita, Randall Joseph
(JaNae) Brin, Janelle Marie (Mike) Hull, and Mark Alan (Darla) Brin all of
Salina. LeRock was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Louis Brin in 2007. 

LeRock
is also survived by his siblings: Connie Desbien of Palco, Verlee Burton of
Salina, Carrol Brin, Adrienne Cargile, and Mallone Normandin all of Hays. He is
preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Brin.

LeRock
is the beloved Pepe to fifteen grandkids and the beloved Great Pepe to twenty great
grandchildren (with one on the way!) 

Services
are scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, November 2nd at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Damar; followed by burial at the church cemetery.

Delmer Henry Thibault, former resident of Hutchinson, Kansas passed away on October 19, 2024 at Locust Grove Village in Lacrosse, KS at the age of 89. He was born July 15, 1935, in Graham County Kansas to Leo and Lola (Benoit) Thibault, the oldest of twelve siblings. Delmer began his life in Bogue and Damar, KS until the dust bowl, the drought and hopes of a better job moved his family to California in August of 1943 in the midst of WWII. The Thibaults spent the next few years in California until they moved back to Osborne, Kansas to farm in 1946.

Delmer graduated from Osborne High School on May 21st, 1953. He and his cousin Jed Simoneau decided that the military was the best pursuit. Delmer enlisted in the Army on July 28th, 1955, and was a mechanic in the Army’s 2nd Howitzer Battalion in the 6th Artillery Regiment and received numerous decorations for his service. He was honorably discharged on June 30th, 1963.

Returning from the Army, Delmer and friends Marvin Reynolds and Don Forgue worked for contractors to build the Wilson Lake dam and other dams in Kansas. After doing this for a couple years, they decided to enroll at Fort Hays State University where Delmer pursued a degree in psychology with help from the GI Bill and by working as an orderly and operating room technician at Hadley Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

In 1965 Delmer met Patricia Schuckman at Fort Hays State University then marrying on September 10th, 1966, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas. They lived in Wooster Place, then Agnew Hall and McMindes Hall as resident managers. After Delmer completed his undergraduate degree in psychology, then his master’s degree in counseling August 1968, he started working at High Plains Mental Health in Hays, KS. They moved to Ellis, Kansas in 1973 where they welcomed their only child Paul in 1976 and later separated.

Delmer spent many of his years in Hutchinson, Kansas where he set roots and worked as a psychologist at Horizons Mental Health Center. He was very dedicated to his profession and enjoyed helping his clients. He looked forward to summer vacations with his son Paul biking, hiking and exploring in Missouri and Arkansas. They played tennis on most summer nights, and had countless weekend trips to Cheney Lake near Wichita, KS to go sailboating.&nbsp;

Delmer met Marilyn Marie Clarke Sherman in May of 2010 at the Elmdale Senior Center in Hutchinson, KS where they danced and visited with friends. Delmer and Marilyn were engaged on September 29th, 2010. They enjoyed vacationing during their time together and attending an annual trip to Branson to meet his Army Battalion friends. They both retired from their careers together in 2011 and have been together ever since.&nbsp;

Delmer was a devoted father. He was kindhearted, well read, very hard-working and industrious. He had a great sense of humor and an ornery streak that got him into trouble a time or two. He loved spending his free time sailing, biking, tinkering, working on old tractors, going to threshing festivals, listening to French Cajun and classical music, and playing cards. Going to auctions was his favorite past time. Delmer will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Delmer is survived by son Paul Thibault (Jennifer), grandchildren Miles and Martin Thibault, significant other Marilyn Sherman and siblings Leola Crittendon, Albuquerque, NM, Sister Carmella Thibault, Concordia, KS, Gerry Peterson, Salina, KS, Joyce (Dan) Rice, Hays, KS, Marion (Paul) Steichen, Salina, KS Gary (Gayle) Thibault, Omaha, NE, Alvin (Danette) Thibault, Omaha, NE, Lonnie (Lea) Thibault, Osborne, KS, Lester Thibault, Osborne, KS, and Bob Thibault, Topeka, KS. He was preceded in death by his sister Darlene Curry of Plainville, KS.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 West 13th Street Hays, Kansas 67601, inurnment, inclusive of Military Honors, will follow the services in the parish cemetery. Harold Lee Hawkins, 81, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 17th, 2024.

Harold was born in Lucas, Kansas on April 26, 1943, to Madonna Louise “Crimen” Gear and Olin Lee Hawkins.

Harold served in the United States Marine Corps.

On March 24, 1972, Harold married Toni Gellinger in Topeka, Kansas.

Survivors include his son, Lee Hawkins (Hilaire), of Olathe, Kansas, and two daughters, Jolee Tucker (Edvin), of San Diego, California; and Jennifer Zografov (Alex), of Greece.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Shane Hawkins, Hailey Hawkins, Seanna Miller, Jordan Miller, Alexis Miller, Graysen Hawkins, Saoirse Kane, Claire Smith, Madison Tucker, Aislinn Kane; and great grandchildren, Aria Hawkins, and Niko Hart.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Toni Hawkins; and brother, Larry Hawkins.

David John Youtsey, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 16th, in Salina, Kansas.

David was born in Galva, Kansas on March 16, 1937, to Jesse and Theodore Youtsey.

David served in the United States Army for 2+ years. He was stationed in Japan.

He graduated from Fort Hays State University. And later became an architect at Wilson &amp; Company

David and his wife, Neoma "Hart" Youtsey, were married for 67 years.

Survivors include his wife, Neoma "Hart" Youtsey, son, David John Youtsey Jr. (Diana), and daughter, Lisa Fountain (Jon).

He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 2 nephews and their families.

A private family burial will be at Farmington Cemetery in Macksville, Kansas.

David John Youtsey

“Buddy” Warren Habacker, age 84 of Abilene, KS passed away at Abilene Memorial Hospital, Saturday October 12, 2024.

He was born July 20th, 1940, in Abilene, to “Cap” Howard and Lois Marie (Coulson) Habacker. Buddy farmed, raised cattle and hogs, and worked for the Solomon and Talmage Coops. He operated the road grader for Willowdale township, helped his children with numerous 4-H projects, was on the Willowdale township board, an active parent in PTA, all until his retirement in 2002. After his retirement he helped at the Solomon housing and on his daughters’ greyhound farm. Buddy loved his family, friends, farming, carpentry, yardwork, playing cards, games, and life. Participating in sports, FFA and 4-H, He graduated with the class of 1959 from Abilene High School. After graduation, he joined the army reserve.

Buddy married his high school sweetheart in 1960. They shared 64 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Jeff Habacker, of McKenzie TN, and Penny McDonald, of Abilene. He was a member of Emmanuel Church, Solomon Lions Club and Johnson Community Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, “Cap” Howard, and Lois Habacker, His sister, Arden Collins, Aunt Dorthy Habacker, brother and sister in-law Ralph and Cenita McDowell, inlaws Doris and Milford McDowell, And great granddaughter, Zella Faith Russell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Louise, son Jeff and wife Tammy, daughter Penny, grandchildren, Joey and Samantha Habacker, Krista Russell and husband Rocque, Travis McDonald and Great grandchildren, Abigail, Charlotte, Nathan Habacker, Colter John McDonald and McCoy Russell.

Visitation for Buddy was held on October 19th, 2024, with funeral services to follow at Emmanual Church, 1300 N. Vine St. Abilene, KS, 11:00a.m. His Final resting place will be at Abilene Cemetery and in his family hearts.

Buddy” Warren Habacker

Lisa Marconette of Chapman passed away on October 11th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Lisa was born December 18, 1970 in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Gary and Judy Porter.

Lisa is survived by her Mother, and her partner Devin Houston and her brothers Jeffrey Porter and Brian Porter. She is also survived by her daughter Stephanie Foster, and Sons Stephen Winholz and Derreck Marconette.

Lisa Marconette

Joan Wilson, born October 11, 1928, passed peacefully October 19, 2024, at the age of 96. Growing up in Ash Creek area, outside Ellsworth, she was the eldest of Harry and Jessie (Bailey) Long’s five children.&nbsp; Her life was a testament to strength, resilience, and love for family.

Joan learned the value of hard work,&nbsp;responsibility,&nbsp;compassion,&nbsp;and play.&nbsp; Get up early to milk cows, hurry to school, play trombone in marching band, make good&nbsp;grades, and ride ol’ Pat to&nbsp;get the cows. She had fun with her younger sisters, and brother, forging strong lifelong bonds.

In 1947, she married Lontie Wilson, owner/operator of Wilson Livestock Auction in Salina. They raised their family with the same care and devotion she showed her siblings. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Jessie (Bailey) Long, her husband Lontie Wilson, siblings: Harriet (Glen) Nickels, Rachel Jane Davidson, and Don (Margaret) Long; and her son: Larry &nbsp;Wilson.

She is survived by her sister: Annetta (Bill deceased) Shepherd,&nbsp;her children: Lonnie (Valerie) Wilson; Bill Wilson (Denise Colborn); Jean Wilson- Baker (Bernard Baker); and Joan E. Wilson; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan Wilson

Douglas James Olson passed away in Salina, KS on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born July 1, 1952, to parents Alfred and Carol Olson at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Salina South High School (class of 1971) and attended Kansas Technical Institute in Salina, KS becoming a surveyor by trade afterward. He married, Sally Ann (Shrader) Olson on July 1st, 1978, at the First United Methodist Church of Abilene, KS. They had two children and laid down roots in Salina, KS for over 40 years. 

Always a hard worker, he had a career with the Kansas Department of Transportation, assisted with daily operations of the family gift shop, Carol's Decor, and later an antique store, Sally's Antiques, on top of raising two children. He was an active citizen - he was very involved with the Saline County GOP and ran for State Representative and City Commissioner several times. Doug also was a committed board member of his church, Immanuel Lutheran.

Doug will be remembered as a hardworking, kind, man of conviction. He was a loyal husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Olson; his parents, Alfred, and Carol Olson; his in-laws, Charles and Mary Jane Shrader of Abilene, KS; and his brother, David A. Olson. Doug is survived by his sons, Russell of Salina, KS; Matthew of Mesquite, TX; his daughter-in-law, Hannah Olson and grandchildren, Kole, and Jolie; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Carol of Lee’s Summit, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.&nbsp;

Lowell Leroy Lamer, 69, passed away on October 18, 2024. He was born on July 26,1955 in Salina, KS. He was a lifelong resident of Salina and graduated from Salina Central High School in 1973. He earned a bachelor’s degree from K-State Salina. He was a lifelong cartologist and spent decades developing his craft of map making. He was united in marriage to Janie Lamer on January 17, 1976. They were married for 46 years prior to Janie’s passing in 2022.

Lowell had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He spent many days fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, and exploring. His most precious memories were passing those skills on to his children and grandchildren. He also had earned the rank of Life Scout in the Boy Scouts.

Lowell was also an avid gardener. He enjoyed gardening with his family when his children were young, and after his children were grown, him and his wife shared their love of gardening together. He was a long-time member of the amateur radio club, and spent many years as a volunteer storm spotter with the Saline County Emergency Management. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Letty Lamer, and his beloved wife Janie. He is survived by his twin daughters, Kimberly (Lance) Bartel and Stephanie (Ben) Holston both of Wichita, KS, sister Jackie (Bill) Baker, of Salina, KS, and brothers Lee Lamer of Salina, KS, and Larry Lamer of Thornton, CO. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Candace and Bryson Britting, and Abby, Carson, Ethan, Ellie, and Charlotte Bartel, all of Wichita.

Lowell will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him. A short graveside service will be held by the family at Gypsum Hill Cemetery on Saturday October 26th at 11am.

Memorials may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center in care of the mortuary.

Lowell Leroy Lamer

We mourn the loss of Gloria Bell (Oberndorfer) Lewandowski, 89, who died Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Salina, Kansas. Gloria was born in Sylvan Grove, Kansas on January 5, 1935 to Esther S. and Walter R. Oberndorfer. She graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in 1953 and attended St. John’s Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas. 

While working in Salina, Kansas in the mid-1950s, Gloria met her future husband, John Lewandowski, a young U.S. Air Force Airman; they were married in 1956. During the next two decades, she and her husband would live and travel around the U.S. and to Okinawa while raising their two children Rick and Kimberly, until finally settling again in Salina, Kansas in 1974.

Gloria is survived by John Lewandowski her husband of 68 years, her son Rick Lewandowski (wife Veronica) of West Grove, PA, and her daughter Kimberly (Lewandowski) McBride of Salina, KS. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Michael Lewandowski (partner Megan Francis) of Lake Wales, FL and Erin (Lewandowski) Kochka (husband Kevin) of West Grove, PA. Gloria also leaves behind her two feisty great-grandchildren Harper and Emersyn Kochka of West Grove, PA. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn (Oberndorfer) Griffin of Overland Park, KS and nephew Bryan Griffin (wife Sara) of Overland Park, KS as well as nieces Allison (Griffin) Blunt (husband Topher), Ashlyn Griffin, and Abbey Griffin. In addition, she was blessed to have nieces Karen Gajdorus, Lynn Zentner, Kris Krajnovich, and their families.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Walter R. and Esther S. Oberndorfer, brother-in-law Warren C. Griffin, nephew Jeffrey A. Griffin, son-in-law Larry F. McBride, and grandson Benjamin Joseph Lewandowski.

Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and lifelong companion to John as well as her entire family. She was a talented crafter, loved to sew, enjoyed reading, was a wonderful baker, and enjoyed travelling with her husband John to his many annual U.S. Air Force reunions throughout the U.S. With her death, Gloria’s absence is profoundly felt by all who loved her so very much. Even so, in our grief we are comforted to know that she is now finally at rest.

A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, Kansas on Saturday, October 26, 2024 followed by a private family burial in Sylvan Grove, Kansas.

Gloria Bell (Oberndorfer) Lewandowski

Alex “Butch” Thacker of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 82.

Born on March 10, 1942, in Russell, Kansas, to Percy and Ruby (Corwin) Thacker, Alex grew up on a farm near Paradise, Kansas, and graduated from Paradise High School. Alex attended Fort Hays State University for a year, but he was eventually drafted into the Army, proudly serving in Vietnam as a heavy truck operator. Alex was married to Maralee (Pflieger) Thacker before her passing in 1988, and together they had two children.

Alex lived in Phillipsburg and McPherson, Kansas, raising his children before moving to Wichita, Kansas, and finally settling in Salina for the last 27 years of his life. He enjoyed engaging with people and spent most of his career in sales, initially in agricultural-related products, traveling the state to speak with farmers and businessmen. Later, he turned his passion for cars into a successful career selling vehicles&nbsp;in McPherson and Salina, earning the trust and respect of many repeat customers. Alex enjoyed owning his vehicles and taking long road trips in them, especially to California to visit his son’s family. He also enjoyed dining out at his favorite restaurants with family and friends, telling stories about the past, making the occasional joke, and relaxing in front of the television.

However, his greatest joy was his family, who will miss him dearly. Alex loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, particularly at their sporting events and performances. He was immensely proud of their accomplishments and would make sure others were aware of their successes.&nbsp; He was always supportive of his family, even during challenging times, and was sought out in times of need.&nbsp;

Alex is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Baird (husband Shane), of Salina, Kansas, and his son, Justin (wife Lori), of San Diego, California. He is also survived by his cherished&nbsp;grandchildren, Kelsi Baird (partner Coleman Jordan), of Hutchinson, Kansas, Trenton Baird (partner Dana Gase) and Breanna Baird of&nbsp;Wichita, and Kiana, Malia and Kai Thacker of San Diego. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren, Harper Smith and Decker and Colt Jordan, of Hutchinson, Kansas.

&nbsp;Alex was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Maralee, his sister Darlene Mowry, and his brother Duane.

Elvera A. (Himmelwright) Riggs passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at her home.

Elvera was preceded in death by her husband, Parents, three brothers and one sister.

Elvera is survived by her three children: Debra (Michael Barnhart), Regina, and Wesley (Haiqong), four grand children: Laura and John Barnhart, Veronica (Sam Vallagomesa) and Douglas Riggs, and one great grand daughter Ivy Vallagomesa.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19 at Wedgwood Baptist Church room 130. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 25 in the Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Kansas.

Linda Maxine Davis, 80, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 17th, 2024.Linda was born in Carson City, Nevada on July 27, 1944.

She was a Certified Nurses Aide most of her life and wholeheartedly enjoyed taking care of others.

Survivors include her children Bruce Light, Theresa Light, Kathy Loftin, Robert Loftin and daughter Kim Walden, Brenda Crowder and son Bill Serrault; grandchildren, Robert "Bubba" Loftin Jr., Austin Light, Lance and Angel Zurfluh; and great grandchildren, Drew and Aubrey Mai, Emma and Karlee Zurfluh, and Oaklen and Olivia Mai.

She is also survived by her luncheon friends and Granddog, Josie!

Justin was born in Salina, Kansas on June 1, 1981, to Ronald and Jody McQuillan.After graduating from Tescott High School, he attended Salina Area Technical College where he studied welding technology. After graduating he was a welder for Bergkamp Inc.In his free time he loved to hunt, ride four wheelers, fish, and camp. His main priority was his 10 year old son, Ruger.

Roger Dale Bowden, 71, of Salina, died Thursday, October 11, 2024 at the Salina Regional Medical Center in Salina, Kansas.

He was born on June 27, 1953 in Rochester, New Hampshire, the son of Robert Lawrence and Roberta Evelyn Cate Bowden. With his father serving in the military, the family traveled throughout the country, Roger graduated from high school in Aberdeen, Maryland and then moved to Salina where he attended Brown Mackey Business College and Mary Mount College.

He was united in marriage to Donna Christine Monasmith on February 16, 1974 in Salina.

Together they recently celebrated their 50th&nbsp;Wedding Anniversary. &nbsp;

Roger had worked for several years as an Operator at the Water Treatment Plant in Salina and later was a grill cook at Applebee’s in Salina. He had also served in the Army Reserves and National Guard.

Roger was a published author with two books about Wild Westernville.

Survivors include his wife Donna of the home in Salina; son Bryan Bowden and wife Haylee of Salina; brothers Raymond Bowden and wife Patricia of Louisville, Ky., Ricky Bowden of Salina; sisters Roxanne Hiyane and husband Miles and Robin Brockway all of Salina; along with his fur babies Eric and Ranger.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents and son Chistopher Roger Bowden.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Salina.

Gayla Day Kanaga Slemp, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on&nbsp;October 12, 2024, at her daughter’s home near Minneapolis, KS. &nbsp;She was born January 2, 1934, in her parents’ farmhouse near Arnold, KS, to Charles and Bessie (Bennett) Day. &nbsp;When she was 9, Gayla went to live with her Uncle Jake (Aunt Frankie) Funk in Ness City.

In 1953, she married Dudley Kanaga at First Baptist Church, Ness City, and they farmed together. &nbsp;To this union, six children were born: &nbsp;Estie Grubbs, Hugoton, Mary (Gary) Schuler, Marion, Rosie (Brett) Prochaska, Ada, Joseph John, stillborn, Rebecca Hunt (Lino Mendoza), Houston, TX, and Christy (Mickey) Scholes, Omaha, NE. &nbsp;

She went to college to become an LPN at 45 years old and worked as a nurse for about 10 years. &nbsp;In 1997, she was married to John R. (Bud) Slemp for many wonderful years. &nbsp;They lived in Frontenac near Pittsburg.

Gayla was a cabin counselor at Camp Christy, near Scott City, for many years when her kids were campers, and later, camp nurse a few summers.&nbsp; She hiked down into the Grand Canyon four times with family or friends. From 2017-2020, Gayla helped lead Grief Share group sessions three times each year.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, and one granddaughter, and two great grandsons.

She is survived by 5 daughters, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson.

The celebration of life will be Saturday, November 2, at 11:00 A.M., at the Antioch Baptist Church in Ada, KS. &nbsp;The family would like memorials to go to Camp Christy, in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS &nbsp;67467.

Helen Faye Rogers , 83, was born on November 8, 1940 in Missouri and passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024 in Salina, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and Mary Opal Rogers and lived in Salina since early childhood.

Helen is survived by her son, Mike Pitts, daughter, Paula Harapat, son-in-law Chris Harapat and grandchildren Tyler Pitts, Chance Harapat, Levi Harapat, and Brandon Harapat. Helen is also survived by her brother, Charles Rogers(Karen), former brother-in law Ken Pitts(Laurie) and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Max Pitts and sister-in-law Anita Rogers.

Helen’s faith in God was central to her life, and she was deeply devoted to her Christian beliefs. She had a passion for sewing, reading the bible and playing the piano and was known for her remarkable skills on the softball field during her younger years.

Professionally, Helen worked as a secretary for many years, where she made a lasting impression on colleagues and friends. She touched the lives of many with her outspoken nature, feisty spirit and strong sense of faith.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Pinnacle Park for their long-term care and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support in Helen's final days. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Burnett (Brenda), Salina. Loving grandmother to Dr. Tim Burnett (Dr. Chelsea), Springfield, Missouri, Brianne Burnett Powers (Robert), Fairfax, Virginia, Lisa Burnett, Salina, Chelsea Burnett Yount (James) of Sandwich, Massachusetts, Chase Burnett, East Lansing, and Dr. Stacie Burnett Carlson (Andrew), Kansas City, Kansas. Doting great-grandmother to Olivia, Casen and Coulter Burnett, Elle, Isla and Luke Powers, Sophia Popelka, Carter and Maeve Yount and Hayes Carlson. She was blessed with two brothers, Dr. Howard Wilson (Doris), Garnett, Kansas, and the late Lloyd Wilson (Rosemary), Osawatomie, Kansas. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was born in Paola, Kansas on April 4, 1931 to George L. and Elsie (Miller) Wilson. She graduated from Parker High School in 1949 and then attended business school in Kansas City, Missouri. She met Glenn Edward Burnett in high school and they married in 1951. They had two sons, Michael and Larry. They lived in rural Parker, Kansas until they moved to Towanda, Kansas 1965 when Edward worked for the USDA Soil Conservation office in El Dorado, Kansas. She worked for the Butler County Motor Vehicle Department in El Dorado for 22 years. Ed passed away in 1986.

In 2004, she married John E. Burnett and moved to Overland Park, Kansas. John passed away in 2018. She then moved to Eaglecrest Independent Living Community in Salina to be closer to family.

Kathryn was a wonderful homemaker and cook and always had a meal ready and cookies baked. She enjoyed and was loved by many dear friends over the years but her priority was always her family, of whom she was so proud and loved dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family service on October 24th in Osawatomie, Kansas.&nbsp; Memorials to Gentiva Hospice or the charity of your choice.

Freda A. Vogan, 84 of Salina Kansas passed away peacefully on October 11th, 2024, surrounded by family. Freda was born on Feb 16th to James Hardesty and Mamie Kerr. She grew up in the Salina/Brookville area.

Freda was united in marriage to Dale Vogan in 1957 and they were married for 51 years before his death in 2008. Freda worked for various moving companies, was a homemaker, helped her husband at Day and Night Plumbing, and worked for the City of Salina until her retirement.

Surviving are her children Sandra Lobdell (Gilbert), Kim Franklin (Mark), Julie Cairns (Jon), Dalene Hole (Monty), Sari Nojonen of Finland, Chris Vogan (Shianta), 20 Grandchildren, and 21 Great Grandchildren, and her best CB friend in Australia, Pauline Haimes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, four sisters, Mildred Hardesty, Goldie Radke, Faye Hill, Ruby Crook, and Great Grandchild Melina Garmen.

Freda A. (Hardesty) Vogan

Jacqueline “Jackie” House, 89, of Wichita, beloved daughter, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Ascension Via Christi Assisted Living, Wichita.

Jackie was born on August 25, 1935 in Bennington, Kansas to the late George and Viola (Richardson) Payne.

The family later moved to Salina when she was 8 with her younger sister Janet whom she adored and helped raise while her mother worked many hours. As a young girl she enjoyed Brownies, Girl Scouts, tap dance, ballet and aerobics. She learned to sew on a Treddle sewing machine at the age of 10 and continued being an avid seamstress throughout her life. She was a very outgoing busy girl.

Jackie met Leland House while attending Kansas Wesleyan where they both graduated. Jackie with high academic honors and Lee with football championships as the quarterback. They married on February 14, 1957 and soon after moved to Colorado with their first son, Doug. A few years later they had their daughter Brenda.

Jackie was busy substitute teaching and raising children. She was a wonderful, fun and loving mom and excelled at care giving. Jackie had many activities she enjoyed including water skiing, snow skiing, tennis, bridge, swimming, golf, singing in the choir, sewing, reading but she especially loved to sing and dance. One of her favorite memories was doing the choreography for the play “Hello Dolly” at the Wray High School in Wray, CO.

Several years later she was called to provide care and moved back to Salina in 1993 to care for her mother. She was devoted to her mother and did everything for her mother along with her sister Janet. They were wonderful daughters.

Jackie loved to collect dolls, cookbooks, making her own hats, the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, karaoke, and helping others. She loved life and had a strong personality all the while being a Christian.

Jackie is survived by: Daughter: Brenda Underhill and spouse Larry; Son: Doug House; Grandson: Hunter House, Sister: Janet Weis and spouse Larry; Nieces: Barbara and Pam; Nephew: Bruce, Many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, 10:00 AM at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, KS. Burial took place prior at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina, KS.

 </figure>Jacqueline “Jackie” House, 89, of Wichita, beloved daughter, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Ascension Via Christi Assisted Living, Wichita.Jackie was born on August 25, 1935 in Bennington, Kansas to the late George and Viola (Richardson) Payne.The family later moved to Salina when she was 8 with her younger sister Janet whom she adored and helped raise while her mother worked many hours. As a young girl she enjoyed Brownies, Girl Scouts, tap dance, ballet and aerobics. She learned to sew on a Treddle sewing machine at the age of 10 and continued being an avid seamstress throughout her life. She was a very outgoing busy girl.Jackie met Leland House while attending Kansas Wesleyan where they both graduated. Jackie with high academic honors and Lee with football championships as the quarterback. They married on February 14, 1957 and soon after moved to Colorado with their first son, Doug. Jacqueline “Jackie” House

Lucille Landis, age 96, of Linn, Kansas, died at Eaglecrest Assisted Living in Salina, Kansas on October 13, 2024.

Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Linn.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linn with Rev. Ronald Hamm officiating.

Pallbearers are Melanie Landis, Michael Landis, Jill Hanson, Marsha Landis, Erica Keener, Lars Larson, Angela Gross and Lee Larson.

Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery, Washington, Kansas.

Lucille, the 4th&nbsp;of 10 children was born to Reuben and Gertrude (Yungeberg) Woodward on May 13, 1928, near Barnes, Kansas. She attended Bell Grade School. As a teenager, Lucille worked for several farm wives, later coming to Linn where she was employed at the Hoerman Packing Company for several years.

On October 19, 1945, she married Kenneth Landis at Washington, Kansas. They lived near Fairbury, NE several months, then moved to Linn where they raised their children Lonny, Steve, Rick and Vickie. Lucille was a full-time housewife and Mother with a very special love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lucille was baptized February 27, 1955 and became a member of the Linn United Methodist Church where she was a faithful worker in the Church and served as Treasurer for the United Methodist Women for 16 years before the Church closed.

She was a member of the Wholmoor American Legion Auxiliary in Linn from 1959 to present and served as a Treasurer in the earlier years. In 2022 she was honored as one of three ladies still living that were Charter members.&nbsp;

Lucille had many friends in Linn and surrounding communities. She was well known for her friendship, kindness and caring. She always lent a helping hand and remembered the sick and elderly.
