Mark Sprout, 58, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 15th, at Kenwood View Health &amp; Rehabilitation Center.

Mark was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 7, 1966, to Pat Belden and Earl Sprout.Mark was a wonderful friend, and brother. 

In his free time, he enjoyed playing pool and darts with the people he was closest to.Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time.

Bruce S. Nech age 73 passed away on Friday December 13, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. He was born on November 19, 1951 in Beloit, KS the son of Edward “Bud” Nech and Rosalee Terrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry.

JoAnn L. Haist, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Sunflower Care Homes of Baldwin City, KS. She was 92 years of age. She was born on June 5, 1932, in Clifton, Kansas to Sylvester J. &amp; Helen R. (Roberts) Gieber.

JoAnn graduated from Haddam High School in 1950.&nbsp;&nbsp;She received her nursing degree from Marymount School of Nursing in 1953.

On November 30, 1957, JoAnn married James “Jim” L. Haist in Concordia, Kansas at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. They were married for 66 years and to this union, 8 children were born: Debra, Daniel, Michael, Mark, Teri, Thomas, Rodney, and Rita.

JoAnn worked as a registered nurse in several locations including, St. Joseph Hospital, Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE, St. Ann’s, Mt. Joseph Nursing Home and St. Mary’s Convent.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting and making apple pies.

JoAnn is survived by her children; Debra (Ronald) Lawrenz, Lawrence, KS; Daniel Haist, Concordia, KS; Michael (Heloisa) Haist, Wichita, KS; Mark (Teri) Haist, Stockton, MO; Teri (Bradley) Simpson, Canyon, TX; Thomas (DeAnn) Haist, Alva, FL; Rodney (Diane) Haist, Shawnee, KS, and Rita (Rick) Limon, Hutchinson, KS; brother, William Gieber (Marvene), Concordia, KS and sister, Marjorie Blazek, Concordia, KS. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.

JoAnn was preceded in death by both her husband, Jim, her parents, Sylvester &amp; Helen Gieber and a nephew, David Haist.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024, with a parish rosary/vigil service being held at 6 pm on Thursday evening all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Led by Fr. Steven Heina.&nbsp;&nbsp;Family will receive friends after the rosary/vigil service.

Suzanne Akers Wallace was born December 2nd, 1951, in Enid Oklahoma to Bobbie and Lonnie Akers. She died October 10th, 2024, in Duluth, Minnesota.&nbsp;

Suzanne loved life and lived it to the fullest. Fun to be around and always active. She loved her "glass of wine" friend Gloria (Dick), "hey girl" Albert John and Mary. She shot sporting clays, fished competitively, para-sailed, swam with dolphins and manatees and learned how to sail a 40-foot boat on Lake Superior. She was game for anything. Suz loved to travel. Oatman, Arizona, and Zion National Park were her favorite places in the states. She liked Jamaica, and Cozumel and snorkeled in Roatan, Honduras, her favorite place in the Caribbean.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie and older brother, David who was her confidant and her hero. She is survived by her mother Bobbie, her husband Kirk, daughter Mendi who she idolized, son-in-law Kirk Eskew and grandsons she adored Kyle, Ryan and Callen. Sister Jay Johnsen, younger brother Mark who she had a strong loving bond with. He called her his "second mom." Sister Jamie Rains, Aunt Venetia Jorgensen who was more like a sister. Aunt Tommy Hawk and sister-in-law Sherry Strong, several nieces and nephews. Suzanne had a special tie to her niece&nbsp;Jaid&nbsp;since&nbsp;Jaid&nbsp;was a child. Suz called&nbsp;Jaid's sons "her boys" Cameron was her sports boy and Jaxson was her ice cream buddy.

Suzanne was much loved by many and leaves a void that can never be filled. Her ashes will be spread on her favorite place on the shore of Lake Superior.

Kenneth Paul Palmquist, age 82, left this earthly life on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS surrounded by his family.&nbsp; He was born on April 17, 1942 in Deshler, NE to Elmer G. &amp; Inez M. (Bevington) Palmquist.&nbsp;

He lived in Hebron, NE (his mother’s hometown) until his father purchased the Schmelling Drug Store and they moved to Concordia, KS in 1945.&nbsp; He graduated from Concordia High School in 1960.&nbsp; He attended Kansas University for one year and then graduated from UMKC in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. He was a member of Kappa Psi, a pharmacy student fraternity. He married Mary Ann St. Pierre on June 8, 1963 in Concordia, KS. He worked for Parkview Drug Store until 1967 when he and Mary Ann returned to Concordia, KS. He then joined the family business at Palmquist Drug Store.&nbsp; On January 2, 1972, he and his brother, Keith became co-owners of the drug store until Keith moved to Montana in 1993.&nbsp; He then operated the drug store with his son Steven until his retirement in 2016.&nbsp;

He took great pride in serving Concordia and the surrounding communities, providing compassionate and professional care as a pharmacist for 50 years. Ken’s example paved the way for both of his children to follow in his footsteps in becoming pharmacists themselves. &nbsp;

Ken and Mary Ann were active members of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Concordia, KS where Ken served as an acolyte, lay reader, Vestry member, and sang in the choir.&nbsp; For his dedicated church service he received the Bishop’s Award. After the church closed, Ken and Mary Ann attended the First United Methodist Church, Concordia.&nbsp;

His community involvement included Junior Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Board and Sunset Home Board. Driven by his passion for the performances at the Brown Grand Theatre, Ken dedicated many years to enriching the Concordia community by bringing a diverse array of entertainment through the Community Concert Association. Ken enjoyed attending local sporting events and concerts at Concordia High School and Cloud County Community College&nbsp;

Ken and Mary Ann cherished countless travels and adventures with friends and family, with one of their favorite destinations being Lake City, Colorado.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Ken is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann, Concordia, KS; daughter, Lisa Sorell (Sean), Manhattan, KS; son, Steven Palmquist (Andrea), Concordia, KS; brother, Keith Palmquist, Bigfork, MT; grandsons, Lane Sorell (Sammi Grieger), Isaac Sorell, Jacob Palmquist &amp; Kyle Palmquist, sisters-in-law Joyce Coppoc (Jim), Sandy Sample (Roger); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Kenneth Paul Palmquist

Kathy M. Holliman passed away at Stormont Vail Health Flint Hills Campus December 6, 2024. Kathy was born April 4th 1962 at Ft. Riley, Kansas the daughter of Stephen and Carol Kirkbride. Kathy graduated from Chapman High School.

Kathy lived in Chapman her entire life and had worked for Konza construction as an office manager. On June 5, 2009 Kathy married Chris Holliman in Helena Montana. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pam, and her brother Jeff.

Kathy is survived by her husband Chris of the home, her daughters Nicole Moneypenny, Christina Scott, Christina Holliman, Gabby Holliman and Natalie Luthi and son Robert Sayers as well as her brothers James Kirkbride and Stephen Kirkbride. Kathy was a very proud Nana to 11 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday December 17th at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel 206 W. 5th Street Chapman, Kansas. Gerald L. Norman was born February 27, 1938 in Junction City, Kansas the son of Ernest and Geraldine (Seubert) Norman. He passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Chapman Valley Manor at the age of 86.

He graduated from the Dickinson County Community High School with the class of 1955. He was a tractor mechanic for Willhoite’s in Junction City and also was a farmer, and a school bus driver for the Dickinson County School District.

Gerald served in the National Guard, and was on the Good Hope Cemetery Board, and the Dickinson County Historical Society. He enjoyed assembling electronic kits, spending time with his family, and spending time with his friends at the Senior Center in Chapman, and attending his class reunions.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, brother Gail Norman of Salina, and sister Yvonne Silver of San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Lehner and nephew Scott Chronister.

Funeral services for Gerald will be 2:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Chapman United Methodist Church in Chapman with Pastor Connie Woldridge. His final resting place will be in the Good Hope Cemetery north of Chapman. His family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm Thursday evening at the Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman. Harvey Ernest Disque, 92, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Harvey was born on September 9, 1932, in Claflin, Kansas, to Adam and Margaret (Radenberg) Disque.

Harvey attended a one-room school at State Center District 75 in Claflin, Kansas, and graduated from Claflin High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army at the headquarters of the Guided Missile Corp. during the Korean War, from February 1955 to February 1957.

A lifelong Kansas farmer, Harvey dedicated his life to farming, sowing, and reaping the land with pride as part of his calling. He married Neva Ann Holl on May 15, 1960, in Ellinwood, Kansas. After 34 wonderful years together, she preceded him in death on March 14, 1994.

Harvey is survived by his four daughters: Renee (Lee) Williams of Colorado Springs, CO, Angela (Gary) Naden of Bozeman, MT, Robin (Kenneth) Ponitz of Ft. Worth, TX, and Julie (Shawn) Opat of Salina, KS. He leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Jeremy (Kaci) Snyder, Amber (Shaun) O'Bryant, Cory (Shelby) Snyder, Rebecca Naden, Ryan (Anne Marie) Williams, Michelle (Nathan) Bjelland, Matthew (Aurora) Naden, Niles (Paige) Gridley, along with his step-grandchildren Kenny Ponitz, Olivia McAdams, Olivia Opat, and Sara Opat. Additionally, Harvey is survived by thirteen great-grandchildren: Corianne, Genevieve, Josephine, Asher, Isaac, Geneva, Carina, Ruth, Adalee, Errol, Oliver, Raelynn, and Samuel.

Harvey is also survived by two brothers: Walter Disque of Claflin, Kansas, and Herman Disque of Stafford, Kansas, along with a grafted-in daughter, Lindsay Meyer of Kansas City, Kansas, daughter of Don and Phyllis Meyer of Salina, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and his siblings: five brothers, Martin, Clarence, Marlin, Edgar, and Charles; and six sisters, Edna, Grace, and Velma Disque, Mabel Flickinger, Aline Howser, and Leona Welch.

The family will welcome visitors on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, Kansas, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant View Cemetery in Claflin, Kansas at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina Senior Center, and Salina Animal Shelter—causes that were close to Harvey’s heart. The family expresses their gratitude for the support provided by Pastor Mark Boxman, Pastor Dennis Kootz, the members at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gentiva Hospice, and the doctors and nurses at Salina Regional Health Center.

Victoria “Vicki” Sue Nylund, 74, of Scandia, Kansas passed away at Republic County Hospital, surrounded by loved ones, on December 11, 2024.

She was born in Concordia, Kansas on September 28, 1950, to Loren Victor and Maxine (Milner) Florell. They, along with her older sister Janice, lived on their farm southwest of Scandia until they moved to Scandia when Vicki was 4 years old.

She attended Scandia Schools where she was a cheerleader, played clarinet, and sang Triple Trio Glee Club. She was the Sweetheart Queen of 1965, the Homecoming Queen of 1967, and graduated as Salutatorian in 1968. She went on to attend Fort Hays State University where she made lifelong friends.

She was baptized at Amana Lutheran Church and then confirmed there in 1963. Then she was a member of WELCA, the women’s group. She was also a member of the Svenska Club and served as Computer Secretary for Membership for Kansas Reading Association for 10 years.

She married James “Jim” Nylund on April 11, 1970, at Amana Lutheran Church. They later welcomed two children, Stefanie and Scott.

She started her 40-year career at the Pike Valley Board Office in 1980, serving as secretary and then board clerk, and then returning as secretary post-retirement.

Vicki loved sports of all kinds, especially watching her kids and grandkids. She traveled to multiple states for basketball, football, soccer, golf, and volleyball.

She loved family fishing trips to Texas, fishing trips with friends to various places, including El Salvador, and all of the trips made with her friends from FHSU. She especially enjoyed having coffee at the Beauty Shop in Scandia with her friends. \

Vicki is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Janice McCaulley, brother-in-law, Johnny Nylund, and mother and father-in law, Virginia and John Nylund.

She will be missed by her husband James Nylund of Scandia; daughter Stefanie Burgess (Tim) of Colorado Springs, Co; son Scott Nylund (Erin) of Overland Park, Ks; grandchildren, Austin Burgess (McKayla) of Pueblo, Co, Hannah Burgess of Colorado Springs, Co, Lauren Nylund, Emma Nylund, and Ben Nylund, all of Overland Park, KS; great grandson, Payton Burgess of Pueblo, Co; sisters-in-law Nancy Molter and Judy Nylund; brother-in-law Roger McCaulley; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and other family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Amana Lutheran Church in Scandia, Kansas with Pastor Kathy Aeillo officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Scandia, Kansas. He was born on July 29, 1941 in Los Angeles CA to Robert Wheeler Sr. and Matilda Hunter Wheeler. He was a retired Calibration Tech for Computer Technology. Harry also served in the US. Air Force from May 10, 1960 to May 9, 1966.

Survivors include one Brother Robert (Cheryl) Wheeler, Ventura, CA, close friends Sandra (Elray) Myers, Dannebrog, NE, daughter Erin Callahan, Hastings, NE and grandson Brendan Callahan, Hastings, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born on February 19, 1941, in McPherson, KS, the son of Leo Ray and Helen LaMae (Anderson) Spohn.&nbsp; Lawrence graduated from Windom High School in 1959.&nbsp; On April 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Saundra Kay Johnson at the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children, Tina, Jerry, and Tom.

Lawrence worked at the Marquette Grain Elevator (ADM) for over 42 years.&nbsp; He was a member and Past President of the Marquette Saddle Club, Board Member and Past President for DS &amp; O Rural Electric, and Past President of the Marquette Senior Center Board.&nbsp;

Peggy Kiser, age 72, was born Margaret Anne Butler in Hebron, Nebraska, on January 16, 1952, to Ken and Bette Butler and protective brothers Kayo and Bill. Peggy received her wings on Sunday, December 8, 2024, and has taken flight to join all the other angels in heaven. Twenty years later, she became a proud mother to her daughter, Amee Dawn, and later to her son, Michael Dominick Urich.

When Peggy was young, her father introduced her to the art of restoring furniture and upholstering. Soon, she and her father landed a job at the popular downtown Hilton Hotel, restoring furniture in the rooms, lobby, and bar areas. She kept busy with many jobs and enjoyed working not only on furniture but also on cars. She was especially excited when she had the opportunity to help restore an antique Bentley for a local owner.

Peggy met Jim, the love of her life, and they were united in marriage in the summer of 1984. They later started the business PJ’s Upholstery. Before long, they began working with a local business to provide protective padding for basketball score tables used by major colleges nationwide. Peggy and Jim worked as a team, and customers often commented that Peggy’s upholstery work was the best. In the spring of 2019, Peggy retired after over 38 years due to advancing dementia.

Family and friends struggled with Peggy’s health challenges but stayed upbeat with her ever-present smile and short bursts of laughter. Peggy was able to remain at home over these years, with Jim by her side as her loving care provider. Something as simple as a smile can have an unbelievable influence on our lives. Peggy’s smile certainly did, and we love and thank her for that great gift.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Jim Kiser; children, Amee Quiriconi, Michael Dominick Urich, Nikole Greene, Jesse Kiser, and Jamie Kiser; brothers, Kenneth Butler Jr. and William Butler; and many loving grandchildren, family, and friends.

She did her best to create heaven on earth with Jim during the 40 years they were married. She lived for each day and made sure each one counted. There are so few like Peggy that we will meet in life on this earth. May God bless Peggy, a loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on her next journey, knowing we will meet again.

BAYTOWN, TX -&nbsp;Trace Hunter Cutbirth, 28, formerly of Salina, died November 26, 2024 in Baytown, Texas. &nbsp;He was born December 19, 1995 in Salina.

Trace attended Salina Central High School where he participated in football, wrestling, and track. &nbsp;He enjoyed drawing and spending time with his family. &nbsp;

He is survived by his mother, Kelly (Cutbirth) Black (J.P. Stevens) of Salina; father, Micheal Sharp (Jaclyn); sister Wynter Sharp; brother, Layton Hansen all of Idaho; grandfather, Gary Cutbirth; grandparents, Steve and Deby Muller all of Salina; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. &nbsp;Trace was preceded in death by grandparents, Shirley and Eddie Sharp. &nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. &nbsp;A memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. &nbsp;In lieu of flowers and memorials please do a kind deed for someone else. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Linda Joyce (Jasso) Komlofske&nbsp;passed away on Thursday December 5, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;She was born on October 4, 1951, in Tahoka, TX to Severino and Rosa (Deleon) Jasso.

She resided in Salina with her husband of 35 years Joesph Komlofske. She worked as a health care professional/ Activity director. &nbsp;

Linda was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and an active member of The Daughters of Isabella in Garden City, KS.

She is survived by her husband, daughter Rebecca Harvey and son Johnathan Adam, six grandchildren and a great-grandson. Two sisters, two brothers and a bunch of nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and an older sister Mary (Gomez) Rodriquez.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 5-7 pm at Ryan Mortuary in Salina.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Tahoka, TX.

Forrest loved NASCAR and dirt track racing, at one time owning his own race car. He loved shooting pool and was a part owner and operator of R&amp;R Karaoke in Hutchinson, KS. He loved to sing and encouraged others to join in.

Forrest was a member of Heartland Worship Center and for a while worked on their sound system.&nbsp; For most of his life, Forrest was an over the road trucker and loved traveling the county. Until health issues sent him into early retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jan and Albert Koob Jr. of Wichita, KS.&nbsp; Forrest is survived by his brothers, Shannon Koob and wife Kim, and Tim Koob all of Wichita; two sons, Devin Osborne and wife Kassidy of Kanopolis, KS, and Randall (Scott) Osborne and wife of Oklahoma. He is leaving behind 9 grandchildren, aunts, uncles and many dearly loved cousins, ex-wife and best friend, Kathlyn Koob of Salina and his beloved cat Oliver.

Gaylene Ann (Deines) Lindsay, 91, of Brookville, KS, passed away at Salina Regional Health Center on December 5, 1924. She was born to Esther and Sieghardt Deines in Salina, Kansas, on December 5, 1933. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and remained an active member there throughout her life. She attended South Park Grade School, graduated from Salina High School in 1951, and graduated from Marymount College with a Bachelor’s in Biology in 1955.&nbsp;

She met Charles Lindsay on a blind date, and their love grew through handwritten letters during a long-distance relationship, which resulted in a lifetime of love. They were married in 1956, and this loving union brought about four children—Luke, Brian, Kate, and Paul.&nbsp;

Gaylene was known for her radiant spirit, love of nature, and uncanny ability to find joy in the simplest moments. As the originator of ‘Moon Alert’ texts, she shared her passion for the sky—whether clouds, sunsets, or the quiet magic of the moon—with everyone she met.&nbsp;

In stores, clerks knew her by name and greeted her like an old friend, as she had a gift for making connections wherever she went. She had an exceptional talent for finding the best sales and was always ready with a kind word or a clever remark that brightened the day for those around her.A playful spirit, Gaylene was also known for her love of entering family, friends, and even pet aliases in the KWCH 12 Umbrella Drawing, winning more than 100 times—a true testament to her luck and fun-loving nature. Her quick wit extended to her daily ritual of playing Wordle with her family group and solving the newspaper’s word games, where she often outshone everyone with her cleverness.Survivors include her sister Donna Oliver, children Luke (Jan) Lindsay, Hillsboro, Brian (Cindy) Lindsay, Brookville, Kate Lindsay, Salina, and Paul (Teresa) Lindsay, Olathe. Marie was born in Los Angeles, California on July 27, 1962, a daughter of Maxine Gray and Kenneth Fishburn.

Marie and her husband, Gary Jewell, were married on February 14, 2000.

In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, listening to Coast to Coast, and cooking for her family.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Jewell; sons, Derek Wynne, Shawn Wynne (Jolene); daughter, Nadine Wynne; sisters, Anita Fishburn- Martin (Glenn), Paula Fishburn- Arroyo; and brother Michael Fishburn.

She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Rose, Brooke, Joseph, Jackson; one great grandchild, Leland; two step grandchildren; 16 nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leonard Fishburn; daughter, Ashley Stafford; and step son, Travis Jewell.

Ruby F. McBee passed away peacefully at Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kansas on November 6, 2024. She was 101 years old.

Ruby was born in Braymer, Missouri on October 9, 1923 and grew up on a farm nearby in the Black Oak community. She graduated from Braymer High School in 1941 and married her high school sweetheart, Charles Wallace McBee, in July the following year.

A long-time Salina resident, Ruby was a devoted wife and mother. She served as a deacon at Sunrise Presbyterian Church and was active in church groups. She sat on the dialysis board at Asbury Hospital, now Salina Regional Medical Center. She had many friends.

Ruby was a talented and industrious homemaker, a charming hostess, a fabulous cook, a prolific gardener, a fine seamstress and quilter, an artistic photographer, a bold traveler, and a savvy bridge player.

She kept the Sabbath faithfully and worshipped her Savior. She faced hardship with grace, and adversity with courage and fortitude. Hers was a worthy life.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Cordia Clevenger, her husband, Wallace, her daughter Marilyn Jean, her son Stephen, her brother Irvin Clevenger, and her second husband, Ray Eichler.

She is survived by her daughters, Sally Gutzman of Salina and Jane Shahi of Lawrence, her grandsons, Derek (Becca) Moline of Salina and Cole Moline (Samantha) of Michigan, her step kids, Tricia Lehane of Scottsdale, Arizona and Ralph (Gayle) Eichler of Teulon, Manitoba, grandchildren Riley, Kayden, Sophie, Kane, Alexander and Victoria, and many cousins and extended family members.

Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the service begins at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, both at the Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel; 1920 E. Crawford, Salina, KS 67401. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Christopher Timothy Smith of Wichita, Kansas, passed awayat home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was bornJuly 17, 1954,in Frankfurt, Germany,the son of Edward Joseph and Justine(Mulhearn)Smith.&nbsp;He later became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Chris&nbsp;graduated from&nbsp;Salina&nbsp;High School South&nbsp;(Kansas)&nbsp;with the class of 1972.

He&nbsp;served in the U.S.&nbsp;Air Force&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;Kansas&nbsp;Air National Guard, retiring from both. &nbsp;He&nbsp;was employed with Southwestern College&nbsp;Professional Studies&nbsp;as&nbsp;Coordinator of Military Education.&nbsp;He was passionate about assisting Veterans in furthering their education.

Chris&nbsp;was united in marriage&nbsp;in&nbsp;2013&nbsp;with Tammy&nbsp;Ann Smith of Wichita, KS.

Chris’ Irish sense of humor was often&nbsp;on display among his family and friends, who were very important to him, whether at a family gathering, a work event, or a golf&nbsp;or bowling&nbsp;outing with his buddies.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was&nbsp;an&nbsp;ardent fan of KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Other survivors include his children&nbsp;Shawn (Martha) Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy&nbsp;(Madison)&nbsp;Smith of&nbsp;Buford, Georgia, Michael Smith&nbsp;of McPherson, Kansas,&nbsp;

He was bornJuly 17, 1954,in Frankfurt, Germany,the son of Edward Joseph and Justine(Mulhearn)Smith.&nbsp;He later became a naturalized U.S. citizen.Chris&nbsp;graduated from&nbsp;Salina&nbsp;High School South&nbsp;(Kansas)&nbsp;with the class of 1972.He&nbsp;served in the U.S.&nbsp;Air Force&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;Kansas&nbsp;Air National Guard, retiring from both. &nbsp;He&nbsp;was employed with Southwestern College&nbsp;Professional Studies&nbsp;as&nbsp;Coordinator of Military Education.&nbsp;He was passionate about assisting Veterans in furthering their education.Chris&nbsp;was united in marriage&nbsp;in&nbsp;2013&nbsp;with Tammy&nbsp;Ann Smith of Wichita, KS.Chris’ Irish sense of humor was often&nbsp;on display among his family and friends, who were very important to him, whether at a family gathering, a work event, or a golf&nbsp;or bowling&nbsp;outing with his buddies.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was&nbsp;an&nbsp;ardent fan of KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.Other survivors include his children&nbsp;Shawn (Martha) Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy&nbsp;(Madison)&nbsp;Smith of&nbsp;Buford, Georgia, Michael Smith&nbsp;of McPherson, Kansas,&nbsp;his&nbsp;step-daughters&nbsp;Jessica (Manabu) Hisamoto of Portland, Oregon,&nbsp;Nicole&nbsp;Smarsh&nbsp;of Los Angeles, California,&nbsp;and&nbsp;nine&nbsp;grandchildren;&nbsp;his&nbsp;siblings Karen Ann Smith of Derby, Kansas, Jan Marie (Bill) Shirk of Salina, Kansas, and Brian Michael Smith of Minneapolis, Kansas and “adopted brother”, Joseph (Janice) Krause of Bennington, Kansas.Chris&nbsp;was preceded in death by his parents and&nbsp;brother Mark Edward Smith.There will be no&nbsp;Visitation. Lorna Jones Putnam, 81, Minneapolis, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Minneapolis. Lorna was born January 8, 1943, in Kansas City to Martin and Norma (Roether) Schmedemann.&nbsp;

Lorna worked as a housekeeper for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joanna Jones; and siblings, Bobby, Richard, Wayne, and Jane.

Survivors are her children, Becky Karabinas and Frank Jones; sister, Judy Murrison, and a host of grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Minneapolis Health Care and Rehabilitation Center and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Memorial Services will be Wednesday, December 11th, at 10:30 am, at the Haddam&nbsp;United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Haddam City Cemetery.&nbsp;

Matthew “Matt” James Howell, 39, of Formoso, Kansas passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Hilltop Lodge Nursing Home in Beloit, Ks surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was born on May 1, 1985 in Salina, Kansas to James and Nancy (Weir) Howell. Matt Grew up in Formoso, Kansas and graduated from Mankato High School in 2003. Once graduated he attended Fort Hays State University and majored in Criminal Justice.

Matthew was a gentle giant and loved people but especially animals. He also loved Notre Dame Football, professional wrestling, and gaming. During Jr high and high school Matt played the center for the Cougars, and threw the shotput and discus for the track team. He was especially good at throwing the discus.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Jim and Nancy Howell, Formoso, Ks; a sister, Melissa Herrman (Michael), Great Bend, Ks and their two children Jacob and Ashley Herrman.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eldon and Theresa Howell, and Jimmy and Beverly Weir; Aunt and Uncle Martha and Rodger Barrett; and Matt's family dogs Blue and Ellie Mae which were Dachshund’s..

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday,&nbsp;&nbsp;December 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Formoso Community Church in Formoso, Kansas with Pastor Daniel Waide officiating. Family would like everyone to dress casually.

Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date.
