Lois Irene Ballance December 11, 1928 ~ June 12, 2024

Lois’ life began on December 11, 1928, in Whitewater. She was the daughter of William Leroy and Gracie Bernice (Bailey) Spratt. Lois was a 1946 graduate of Whitewater High School. After school, Lois worked as a telephone operator for Whitewater and later worked as the office manager of the Butler Rural Electric Cooperative. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and had been active in the Altar Society. Lois enjoyed tending to her flowers in her garden and enjoyed being part of her church. She is survived by her daughter Sue (David) Lincicome of Valley Center; grandchildren Jeremy Lincicome of Wichita and Joshua Lincicome of El Dorado; and her brother Jack (Jane) Spratt of Whitewater. Lois passed away on Wednesday June 12, 2024, at Lake Point Nursing Home in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Irvin and Paul Spratt. Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday June 18, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home. Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 19, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Whitewater Cemetery. Betty H. Grant of rural Abilene, passed away at home in the presence of her family on Monday, May 20, 2024. Betty was a 1943 graduate of Taunton High School. She was the wife of the late William T. Grant, who she married in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Taunton, MA, in 1949. She was born to Ambrose and Sarah Taylor O’Neil on November 30, 1925 in Taunton. Betty was employed at Liggets Drug Store, Allen Walker Insurance, Metals and Control, Texas Instruments, and her final and favorite employment, the Gondola Restaurant where she retired after 31 years. Betty bought a home and moved to Abilene, Kansas in 2006 to be closer to her family. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Andrews, and Red Hat Ladies. She was a master knitter and made many beautiful garments for family and friends. She enjoyed baking beautiful cakes especially for her great grandchildren. She believed it was an elderly person’s job to pray and she faithfully prayed 5 rosaries a day! She loved listening to the KC Chiefs, her ITunes playlist, and her great grands’ musical instruments. Betty is survived by her daughters Susan Randle (Craig) and Mary Grant of Abilene, her grandchildren; William (Joycelyn) Randle (Cole, Layton, Thomas) Chapman, KS, Duane (Tara) Randle (Eliza, Norah, Clara, Estelle, Victoria, Jeremiah) Osage Beach, MO., Kristina (Tony) Blanck (Emma, Natalie) Manhattan, KS, Sharon Grant-Healy (Devin Brown, Manhattan, KS, Alexandro Perotti, Adriano Perotti) Ocala , FL., Her nephews, Peter and Paul Crook, and nieces, Donna Wood and Audrey Mello, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son-in-law, Robert F. Healy, her brother Daniel O’Neil, sister Sylvia O’Neil Crook and two nephews, Dan and Robbie O’Neil. A rosary at 10:30AM, followed by funeral Mass at 11AM will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Abilene on Friday June 21, 2024. A Catholic graveside service will be held at St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton, MA at a later date, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Gary Lew Hale July 2, 1937 ~ June 15, 2024

Gary Lew Hale, a beloved husband, father, farmer, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Concordia, Kansas, on July 2, 1937, to Wilbur and Alice Hale, Gary lived a life marked by kindness, service, and community spirit.

Gary spent his early years in Simpson, Kansas, where he attended high school. Known for his gentle demeanor and willingness to help others, Gary was a cherished member of his community from a young age.

In 1960, after serving two years in the US Army, Gary returned to Salina, Kansas, where he began a long and fulfilling career with Evans Grain Company. His dedication to his work and his colleagues was evident throughout his years of service.

On April 20, 1963, Gary married the love of his life, Joyce Heidrick. Their marriage, spanning over four decades, was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised two daughters, Alison Monsanto and Andrea Hale, who were the pride and joy of Gary's life.

Gary had a lifelong passion for high school and college basketball and football. He was often seen listening to one game on his FM Walkman while attending another game in person. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond just watching the games; he actively volunteered at many tournament games held at the Salina Bicentennial Center. His contributions to the local sports community were greatly appreciated and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In his later years, Gary cherished his daily coffee outings with friends. These gatherings were a highlight of his day, filled with laughter, stories, and camaraderie.

Gary is remembered for his incredibly kind heart. He was the type of person who would do anything for anyone and never had a bad word to say about anyone. His positive outlook on life and his generosity of spirit touched the lives of many.

Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce, and their daughters, Alison Monsanto and Andrea Hale. Though his heart endured these profound losses, he continued to embody resilience and kindness.

Gary Lew Hale is survived by his granddaughters, Haley Crossley and Mary Bondio, as well as his great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many friends and extended family members. His legacy of kindness, service, and community involvement will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held&nbsp;on Saturday, June 29th&nbsp;at Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Salina, KS&nbsp;at 11 a.m.&nbsp;to celebrate Gary's remarkable life.

Gary's gentle soul and loving nature will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.

Ramon Bonilla, 75, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024. He was born on April 30, 1949, in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico, to Fidel and Agita (Mora) Bonilla.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nathalie (Mesa) Bonilla; son, Richard Vargo (Darnell); grandchildren, Blake Vargo (Amber), Makayla Twehous (Logan), Madison Head (Darrin), and Morgan Waggoner (Mike); great-granddaughter, Karsyn Head; sisters, Patricia and Letia; brother, Fidel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Vargo; and his brothers and sisters.

A Rosary prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N 9th St, Salina. A graveside burial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at Kanopolis Cemetery, Ave L, Kanopolis, Kan.

Memorials may be made in Ramon’s honor to the Salina Rescue Mission, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Arthur Ray Breneman, 80, of Hedville, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024.&nbsp; He was born in Salina, to Louis R. and Maxine (Baker) Breneman.&nbsp; He married Karolyn Akers on January 31, 1965.&nbsp; He graduated Culver High School, was in the Army Reserve, worked at CO-OP in Culver and Salina.&nbsp; He then worked for Ott Oil for over 25 years prior to purchasing the company with Troy Ditto in 2000 forming Fuel Unlimited.&nbsp; In addition to his occupation, he had an addiction to cattle that he couldn’t quite kick.&nbsp; He was a cow and calf producer for many years, then during his retirement he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of just being a “cow man.”

Survivors include his children, Monty (Debbie) Breneman, of Lincoln, Dean Breneman, of Park City, and Amy (David) Thompson, of Hedville; sister, Marilyn Baker, of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Mikayla, Cory, and Kristy Breneman, Faith Wolf, Cheyenee, David, Micah Thompson, and Marius Berens.; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Thompson and Maeve Thompson.

Art was a member of several local organizations; Rural Water District #4, Ell-Saline Booster Club, Ell-Saline Lions Club, Hedville Rural Fire Department.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina.&nbsp;

Papillion, NE -&nbsp;Irma R. Broils Martin, third daughter of Karl E. Broils and Neoma (Naomi) Kibble Broils was born March 13, 1943, at Salina Regional Medical Center, formerly Asbury Hospital. She attended Dunbar and Whittier Elementary Schools, Roosevelt/Lincoln Jr. High, and graduated from Salina High School. She was employed by Tony’s Pizza and Windsor Estates as a dietary Supervisor. She married Johnnie Martin Sept. 17, 1985. Holding various offices, she was a devoted and faithful lifelong member of Allen Chapel AME Church, Salina, KS. Irma enjoyed doing ceramics and crocheting Afghans for family and friends and having fun with and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She collected pigs of all shapes, colors and sizes. Oh yes! shopping in Korea, how could we forget that.

Proceeding her in death are her father, mother, and sister, Anita Kay Scott. Irma leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Johnnie Martin, sister, Arlene Broils Glenn (George Glenn Sr,) Topeka, KS, brother in laws, Bobbie (Gail) Macon, Ga, Charles (Stella) KCKS, Jimmy, KCMO, sister in laws, Marie Giles, KCMO, Marva Dean Martin, Newton, KS, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, in the Living Hope Bible Methodist Church, 1021 W. Ash, Salina, KS. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove, KS.

Frieda Lucille Priddy, 100, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1923, in Dorrance, Kan., to Reinhart and Katherine (Senner) Dick.

Frieda was united in marriage to Ralph Edgar Priddy on January 29, 1949, in Salina. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a dedicated member of the Salina VFW Post 1432 Woman’s Auxiliary. Frieda was a great cook who loved to make her German recipes for family and friends. She also enjoyed embroidery and canning fruits and vegetables.

Survivors include her children, Marva Jore (Ron), and Wayne Priddy (Ceal), both of Salina; grandchildren, Brandy Siler, Ginger Lehman (Jason), Aaron Jore (Krista), and Teresa Snow (Greg); great-grandchildren, Ashley Siler, Aubree Montey (Kayden), Chase Anderson, Ella Jore, Emryn Jore, Blake Robertson, Christian Snow, Sebastian Snow, and one more on the way; great-great-grandchild, Blake Montey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Ralph; brothers, Harry, David, Walter, and Melvin Dick; sisters, Selma Dick, Rachel Unruh, Alvena Luerman, Mary Wood, and Bertha Smith.

A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, with family present from 5-7.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 302 S 7th St, Salina, with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the Salina VFW Post 1432, care of Ryan Mortuary.

Randall K. Carlson, 66, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away Friday, June 7, 2024. He was born on October 21, 1957, in Salina to Carl L. A. (Lawrence) Carlson and Glenna (Miller) Carlson. He graduated from Salina High School Central in 1975 and obtained his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bethany College. During this period, he was a member of several honor societies and clubs including Alpha Sigma Nu, Theta Chi Delta (chemistry honors), Math and Physics Club, and the Chemistry Club. Following his undergraduate work, he went on to advanced studies in organic chemistry at Iowa State University where he obtained his master’s degree.

Following his university studies, he has spent his 40+ year career working for a number chemical and pharmaceutical companies including Dupont, Bristol Myers-Squibb, and Lab Corp. His work during the last few decades was for firms that provide statistical analyses and reporting of testing performed for pharmaceutical development. During his time at DuPont, he was listed as co-inventor on several US patents.

As a young man, Randall enjoyed participating in the world of amateur radio. He received his “Ham” license in the ‘70s but was most active when he was in Delaware. He served a term as Delaware Section Leader for the American Radio Relay League (emergency ham communications and other related activities). Randall was also a skilled photographer with wildlife being a favorite subject. He didn’t need to take exotic trips for subjects. He found them all around… birds, bees on a flower, any local creature. He spent many pleasant hours in local parks and nature preserves pursuing this hobby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 infant sisters, Kay, Fay and May Carlson. Randall is survived by his brother Darvin of Shawnee, Kansas.

A graveside service will be held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, 2020 East Iron Avenue, Salina, Kansas at Noon on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Friends and family who wish to gather and reminisce may gather at Ryan Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. prior to the procession to the cemetery.

Florence Awyn (Kaser) Ayers was born August 23, 1925 to William Henry and Florence (Cram) Kaser at their farm home east of Osborne.&nbsp;&nbsp;Awyn was the youngest of 6 children.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ayers, and also her parents and three brothers, Wayne, Kenneth, Dwight and wife Minnie, 2 sisters Rena and husband Ralph Barber, Opal and husband Harold Coop, and a grandson Christopher Ayers.

Awyn was married to Lester Ayers for 59 years.

They were Wholesale/retail milk distributors in the Osborne area for 35 years.

Their children are Janet and husband Tim DeCocq, Alan, Glen and wife Becky; Seven grandchildren; and Nine Great Grandchildren.

Awyn loved her family and spent a lifetime caring for them.She was known for her flowers and her kindness, she loved music, gardening, cooking, teaching Sunday school for over 65 years and rest home work and programs.

She wrote poetry and songs, played the organ for church and for Parkview Care Center, and most of all she loved the Lord.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5PM until 7PM at the Rentschler Family Mortuaries Osborne Chapel.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30AM Wednesday June 19, 2024, at the Rentschler Family mortuaries Osborne Chapel.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made the Awyn Ayers memorial fund to be split between Gideon’s International and NwKares Hospice and can be sent in care of the mortuary.

Juanita Hale, 74 years of age, of Concordia passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, peacefully at her home in Concordia.&nbsp;

She was born on February 5, 1950, in Concordia, Kansas to Juan "John" and Antonia “Toni” (Hernandez) Bajaras.

She married Gilford Hale on April 7, 1969, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this Union two children were born Valerie and John.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.

Juanita retired from the Sunset Nursing Home in 2018 where she worked as a CNA for 5 years.

She enjoyed photography, cooking, baking, and gardening.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends, especially her pet chihuahua Brownie.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Gilford Hale of the home in Concordia; a daughter, Valerie (Roger) Hamilton of Scandia, KS;&nbsp;&nbsp;a son, John Hale (Christine Ward) of Concordia, KS; 3 sisters, Teresa Winter (Casey) Great Bend, KS; Vicky Waggoner (Les) Salina, KS; Christina Crump, Concordia, KS; one brother, Damian Villalpando, Kanopolis, KS; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

William Gilbert Burton September 4, 1938 ~ June 9, 2024

William (Bill) Gilbert Burton, age 85, of Marion, Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2024.&nbsp;

Bill was born on September 4, 1938 to Annie (Patterson) and Gilbert Burton in Rumley Township, Harrison County, Scio, Ohio. He was the second born of five children.&nbsp;

Bill grew up in Scio with his siblings. They lived and worked on a family farm, which Bill enjoyed. He attended high school in Scio, where he was a part of FFA and 4-H. Bill graduated from Scio High School in 1957.&nbsp;

On March 2, 1958, Bill joined the United States Air force. He was stationed at Schilling Air force Base in Salina, Kansas, then was sent to Guam and stationed there.&nbsp;

Bill met Marilyn (Scheuerman) while based at Schilling and married her on July 17, 1959. They welcomed a daughter, Kimberly Kay on March 30, 1960. On March 15, 1963 they welcomed a son, Randy William. On February 13, 1965 they welcomed another son, Rusty Wayne. They later divorced.&nbsp;

Bill moved his family to Perrysville, Ohio in the early sixties. Bill worked hard to support his family while living in Perrysville and enjoyed that his children were able to spend time with their cousins. After a few years of living in Ohio, Bill and his family returned to La Crosse, Kansas and he started working at Marlette Mobile Homes in Great Bend in the late sixties. Once the La Crosse Furniture Factory was built and open, Bill went to work for them as a fabric cutter.&nbsp;

On January 23, 1976, Bill married the love of his life, Charlotte (Miller) Burton. Bill and Charlotte met while working together at the La Crosse Furniture Factory. Charlotte had three children from a previous marriage: Julie Scheideman, Robin Scheideman and Patsy Kline. Bill loved them like they were his own.&nbsp;

Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Marion, Kansas. While living in Marion, Bill started working at Branson Truck Lines, hauling cattle. In the summer of 1982, Bill and Charlotte moved to Ohio to begin their careers of owning and operating a dairy farm. Bill enjoyed owning a farm where his children, nieces and nephews could learn valuable skills.&nbsp;

In the winter of 1985, Bill suffered a massive cerebral brain hemorrhage, while out getting firewood. He relied heavily on his faith to get him through this challenging time. When Bill came home from the hospital, he opened his bible and the verse that stood out to him was Mark 5:19. “Jesus would not let him. Instead, he told him, “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how kind he has been to you.” From this point forward, Bill did not take for granted the life the Lord had given him back.&nbsp;

While living in Ohio, Bill and Charlotte made the decision to open their home for children in the foster care system. In 1988, they decided to adopt Carol Benavidez and Bobby Burton.

In 1990, Bill and Charlotte made the decision to leave the dairy farm and move back to Marion, Kansas. The two continued to foster children upon arriving in Kansas. During this time, Bill opened a bait shop and was loyal to his customers, even when they needed bait in the middle of the night.&nbsp;

In 2002, Bill and Charlotte moved to Newton Kansas. Bill went to work as a maintenance man at Norcraft. He continued to work until shortly after he turned 80 (2018) then he retired.&nbsp;

In his spare time, Bill enjoyed spending time with friends and family, going to church, singing, playing instruments, fishing, collecting, gardening and going on drives with Charlotte.&nbsp;

Bill was loving and supportive. He enjoyed making others laugh and teasing his grandchildren.&nbsp;

Bill is preceded in death by: His parents Annie (Patterson) and Gilbert Burton, Charlotte Burton (Wife), Robin Scheideman (Step-Daughter), Robert Burton (Brother), Donna Leggett (Sister) and Madison Baylor Spears (Great Grand Daughter).&nbsp;

Bill is survived by his siblings Edward Burton, Judy and Wayne Rogers . Children: Kim and Artie Herrman, Randy and Cindy Burton, Rusty and Tonya Burton, Julie Scheideman, Patsy and Mike Kline, Carol Benavidez, Bobby and Crystal Burton. Fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, along with many foster children also survive Bill.

William’s family will gather with friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. Funeral Service for William will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery. Janet’s life began on September 18, 1963, in Wichita. She was the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Weins) Seidel. Janet was a graduate of Waconda East High School and a graduate of the Colorado Institute of Art. She was united in marriage to Nick Mayes on June 4, 1983, in Denver where she loved to snow ski and enjoy nature’s beauty. As a young couple, they enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. Janet had fond memories of riding her horse Cisco, fishing, and swimming at Waconda Lake as a girl. She was a creative artist and expressed her creativity in drawing and in her free-spirited approach to life. Janet was very intelligent and had a strong faith in God and His promises. She loved nature and especially her dog Duke. Janet is survived by Nick of Wichita; her children Braden (Kacey) Mayes of Andover, and Blaise (Kiara) Mayes of Wichita; grandchildren Caroline, Luke, and Nevaeh Mayes. Debby’s life began on December 15, 1969, in El Paso, Texas. She is the daughter of Michael and Sharen (Sullivan) White. Debby graduated from high school in 1988 in Waynesville Missouri. She then went on to attend Cloud County Community College. Debby was a very hard worker and enjoyed working at The Family Dollar in Herington. Debby’s coworkers soon became like family. Debby also worked at Kay’s Pharmacy, Clark Lumber, and Barnes’ Grocery. &nbsp;When Debby wasn’t hard at work, she loved sitting outside and watching the animals. Debby loved all animals, but especially enjoyed the squirrels and buzzards. She also enjoyed watching the Red Birds visit. Debby could also be found listening to Harry Styles music.

Debby, at the age of 54, passed away on May 31, 2024, at her home in Herington. She is preceded in death by her father, Michael; and fur babies Wyatt and Riley. Debby is survived by her mother Sharen (Bruce Ballard) White; daughter, Hannah (Trevor Williams) Oswald; and fur baby Oliver.

Services for Debby will be held at a later date. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington, is serving the family. Patricia "Trisha" Ann Marietta, 75, of Salina, KS, passed away peacefully on June 11th, 2024 in her home.

Trisha was born on May 13, 1949 to Robert Louis Marietta and Betty Lee Carson in Salina, KS. Trisha graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1971 where she was a member of the Delta Kappa Chi sorority, receiving her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Biomedical Sciences. Trisha was a lifelong Methodist, performing in the choir and other service areas for various congregations. She was a bookkeeper and clerk for her father’s law firm for many years in addition to managing business affairs for the family farmland. Trisha was a certified massage therapist for over 30 years who loved to help others through her practice of healing the body and the mind. She viewed all of her clients as wonderful friends. Trisha enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and trees. She loved to be outdoors camping and at family property. Trisha enjoyed traveling near and far and spending time with her family.

Trisha is survived by her brother James (Lisa) Marietta of Oskaloosa, KS, her son Chris (Becky) Kellogg of Leavenworth, KS, her two grandchildren Lena (John) Hopkins of Fayetteville, AR and Carson Kellogg of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, many dear friends who were by her side faithfully, and her cat Izzy.

Trisha’s celebration of life will take place at Martinelli’s Little Italy from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Charles “Chuck” Gregory Monroe, born on March 6, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2024, in Salina, Kansas, after a long illness.

Chuck was the beloved son of Herb and Ima Jean Monroe (Prather).

Chuck, known to his friends and family as a vibrant and colorful soul, leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity. He touched the hearts of some and will be deeply missed by the few who knew him.

Graduating from Emporia State University, Chuck embarked on a journey that led him through various roles within the cable television industry. His travels took him far and wide, but it was in Louisiana that he found a special place in his heart for the South. After retiring, he continued to explore the region, drawn to its charm and hospitality.

Before his retirement, Chuck owned and operated Vita Villa in Abilene and Salina, a colorful oasis that reflected his zest for life. His love for colors, textures, and patterns extended beyond his business to his home, the cabin at Red Bud Lake and his wardrobe, always seeking the unique and unconventional. Chuck's passion for the arts was evident in his frequent attendance at the Smoky Hill River Festival and various art shows across Wichita, Kansas City, and Santa Fe.

A devoted sports fan, Chuck enjoyed watching baseball and Kansas Cagerz basketball games with his dad, Herb. Always finding joy in the thrill of the game. He also had a fondness for gardening, nurturing his plants with care and dedication. An avid listener of audiobooks, Chuck's thirst for knowledge and simple curiosity accompanied him on his many adventures.

Chuck's love for animals was unwavering, and his companions Gepetto and later Murphy, his beloved golden retrievers, held a special place in his heart. His compassionate nature extended to supporting the Saline County Humane Society.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Ima Jean Monroe, and his sister Cathy. He is survived by his niece, Amy Ankrum of Salina, as well as sons: Josh (Beth) Wineland, Chauncey (Brooke) Kuhl and Kelly (Megan) Kuhl . Grandchildren: Sawyer, Whitney, Cali and Fin Wineland, Tillie Kuhl and soon to be, Maxxwel Kuhl.

A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at Ryan Mortuary &amp; Crematory on 137 North 8th Street in Salina, KS, on June 21, 2024, from 9:00-11:00 AM.

Chuck Monroe's private and quiet life, led to many walks with his dogs, with Amy accompanying him occasionally. He enjoyed his solitude and his travels, sometimes chatting up the errant passerby.

Sondra Layne Wiegand&nbsp;passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 in Salina, Kansas. She was born on December 9, 1951 in Springfield, Missouri to Charles and Violet Wernecke.&nbsp; She was a mother and homemaker.

She is survived by her son Chuck Hays (Kristi), daughter Lisa Hays-Lawrence (Walter). Stepsons Robbie, Troy, and Kevin Wiegand. Siblings, Sue Deters (John), Sidney Wernecke, Mark Wernecke (Jenny), Wes Wernecke (Sharon), and Robin Nash. She also has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Butch Wiegand, son Scott Hays, and brothers Richard and David Wernecke.

It was her wish to not have a viewing, however a graveside service will be held in White City Cemetery, White City Kansas at 11 am on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Max Eugene Redding, aged 89, passed away peacefully in Salina, Kansas. Born on June 12, 1935, in Culver, Kansas, he was the cherished son of the late John F. Redding and Annie May (Fitzpatrick) Redding.

Max attended Culver High School and attended Kansas Wesleyan. He proudly served in the Army Reserve. On April 14, 1956, Max married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, LaDonna M. Redding, and they shared 49 wonderful years together.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Redding and Annie May Redding, and his sisters, Donna Reynolds and Mayetta Longbine, all of Salina.

Max and LaDonna were blessed with three children: Ronald Redding and his wife Julia, Carol Redding McWhorter and her husband Greg, and John Redding and his wife Jennifer. Max is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Moore Redding, his grandchildren Tana and her husband Steven, Andy, Sam (Michele), Alicia and her husband Ryan, Collin, Carly, Emily, and Zach; and his great-grandchildren Tailynn, Tate, McKinley, Luke, Eli, and Mason. Max also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will dearly miss him.

Max had a profound passion for agriculture, managing his Allis Chalmers dealership, Mid-Western Farm Implement. He was a respected figure in the community, known for his integrity and willingness to lend a helping hand. Max believed deeply in his role in the food production industry.

Max also had a love for draft horses. He was actively involved in the fair board and rodeo, contributing to the community’s enjoyment. Max served on numerous committees and boards, reflecting his dedication to serving others.

To know Max was to love him. He was a dependable and faithful servant, and he will be profoundly missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N Eighth, Salina, 67401, where the family will receive friends from 5-7, with a vigil service at 7.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Salina, Kansas. Burial will follow at Culver Union Cemetery.

David Michael Balaun, 79, was born in Salina, KS on April 7, 1945 to Harry and Alma Balaun.

He passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

He graduated from Salina High School in 1963. David worked at Beechcraft until moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1972 where he worked for Centel telephone company. In 1991, he returned to Salina and worked for USD 305 until his retirement in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings, Jack Balaun and Elaine Wismar.

David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Balaun, his 8 children, Todd (Faith), Jeromey (Vicki), Jincy Schessl, Andy (Becky), Isaac, Lizzie Stone (Brett), Jody Cline (Matthew), Nick (Whitney), 18 grandchildren and his brother Larry Balaun (Marilyn).

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. During this time, a rosary will be prayed from 6:30-7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on June 12th at 10 a.m., Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Memorials me be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral or Salinans for Life.

David worked at Beechcraft until moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1972 where he worked for Centel telephone company. Justice Autumm Ratcliff July 28, 1997 ~ June 8, 2024

Justice Autumm Ratcliff, 26, of Salina, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 8, 2024. Justice was born July 28, 1997, in Dayton, Ohio.

She is survived by her son Mylo, Mother Alicia Wallace, Father Jason Ratcliff, Stepmother Lacey, Sisters Kyra, Kylie, Alyx and Brother Cohen. Grandmother Lois Brinkman, Grandfather Frank Wallace, Grandparents James (Sue) Ratcliff and Joey (Becky) Jackson.

Justice was preceded in death by her Grandfather Gerry Kaiser.

Justice has a beautiful soul and an amazing personality, she made everyone laugh. Justice will be missed greatly.

Private family services were held on June 12, 2024.

Memorials can be made to The Justice Ratcliff Memorial Fund in care of First Bank Kansas or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Ryan Mortuary.

Cathy Louise Crawford, 64, of Salina went to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024.

Cathy was an amazing soul who had never met a stranger. She worked for Phillips Lighting for close to 40 years, loved to write poetry, stories, but most of all she loved her family. She would have done anything for anyone. She forgave, and never gave up on life and always kept a positive attitude to get through any trials or tribulations. She gave the best hugs, advice, and of course, lectures. She was very knowledgeable on just about any thing you ever had a question and could find a solution to anything. Her main passion in life was family. Jonathan, Richard, Quentin, Quinn, and Leo were her everything. She loved those boys with everything in her. Never having any daughters, she had plenty of nieces to fill the void.&nbsp; Caretakers and nieces Stacy Lowe, Michelle Peterson Simmons, and great niece Haleana Joy Simmons were there to keep her on her toes with the boys. She loved her siblings and loved anything family oriented.

The family would also sincerely like to acknowledge Shaina, she really loved you, and we appreciate the sincere love and care you provided.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Crawford and Betty Lou Crawford, her sister Joy Crawford Peterson, and son Richard Charles Parnell.&nbsp;

She was survived by her son, Jonathan James Parnell, grandson Quinn Preston Parnell, Daughter in law Melissa Patrick with grandsons Leo.

Siblings include Deborah and Don&nbsp;Blatazor, Michael and Brenda Crawford, William and Suzanne Crawford, Robin&nbsp;Stokes, LaDonna Crawford, Mark and Jill Crawford. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.&nbsp;
