Sherry L. Leister, 60, of Abilene passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022. She was born November 9, 1962 in Emporia, Kansas. 

She married Scott Leister June 29, 2002 in Abilene. 

Sherry worked at IBP Meat Plant in Emporia for 10 years and also worked for Russell Stover’s as a machine operator. 

Sherry is survived by her mother Charmein Bowers and father Henry Pine; husband Scott Leister of Abilene; daughters Jolina Boland, Tara Waymire, and Savannah Leister, all of Abilene and stepdaughter Charlotte Leister and stepson Justin Leister, all of Abilene; siblings Damon Pine, Deanna Stallbaumer, Joey Pilotti (Gena) and half-brother Eric Knight (Kammie); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service for Sherry will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home of Abilene. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Denise Irene Adamson&nbsp;(60) passed away peacefully in the care of hospice and Minneapolis Health and Rehab Center in Minneapolis, KS on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022, at 5:52 p.m. She was born January 27th, 1962, in Ottumwa, IA to Dorothy Bell (McConnell) and Rev. Lenard Roy Adamson. She was the youngest of SIX children.

She is preceded in death by both her parents;&nbsp; her brothers Leonard, James (Jimmy), Gary, and Tim, and her sister Pauline Hamilton. 

She is survived by her adopted son Timothy (TJ) Adamson of Wichita, KS, an aunt, Marcene Powers of Easley, SC, aunt Alberta Stanlek, uncle Dwight McConnell both of Cedar Rapids, IA; countless nieces and nephews, cousins, and many family friends.

Denise went to Mt. Vernon Bible College and finished her degree at Brown Mackie, then later became the youth pastor of First Foursquare (Living Water) Church in Salina, KS. She was the arts and crafts instructor as well as a group leader at Camp Pomme De Terre in Missouri. She was incredibly involved in the church. She also worked several jobs as a chef.

Denise knew no stranger. She had a way of making everyone feel important, loved, and welcome. She always went above and beyond for those she loved and cared about. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

A celebration of life in her honor will be on Saturday, November 19th, at Emmanuel Foursquare Church in Salina, KS, at 10 a.m. Inurnment will proceed at Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis, KS. Her body was cremated, and Ryan Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Nathan P. Thompson, 44, Salina, was born November 21,&nbsp;1977, in St. Joseph, MO, and was found July 19, 2022, near Ellsworth, due to homicide.

Nathan was raised in Glasco and moved with his family to Minneapolis in 1994 where he attended Minneapolis High School. He enjoyed cooking, music, and although he struggled with mental illness, Nathan found solace when walking in nature and expressing his feelings through his poetry.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Davies Thompson and his grandparents.

Lorraine L. Albers&nbsp;of Salina was born on March 5, 1938 in Holdrege Nebraska. Passed away on November 13, 2022 at the age of 84, with family by her side.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Arnold and Antonia Winberg; her son Robert L (Bobby) Albers, Jr.; great-grandson Gavin Brummett; and sister Violet Wiser.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter Laurie Debold (Jim) Tescott, granddaughters Jennifer Carlson Tescott, Lindsey Burgardt (Austin) Assaria, grandsons Rodney Brummett Jr (Nicki) Salina, Ricky Brummett (Kayte) Mulvane, Levi Debold (Emily) Salina, Jason Debold (Hillary) Bennington, and lifetime friend and business partner, former husband Bob Albers, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was always keeping busy in business, she as a partner in Bob Albers Construction and retiring in 1991.

Her many partnerships include The Red Pussy Cat Club, Truck Haven Truck Stop, Eddies Club and Lucky Bingo Parlor and many rentals that she and her son Bobby&nbsp; helped with.

She loved to travel, taking her kids and grandkids on cruises from Sweden to Cancun to Barbados and snow skiing in Colorado. There were&nbsp; family gatherings each year with family and friends and camping at the lake, and, mostly not to forget, gambling with her best friend George.

We will miss her spunk and spice, (Little Mighty Mouse). Knowing she is at peace now she will be so greatly missed.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 18, at Ryan Mortuary.

SALINA -&nbsp;Kenneth Leroy Schnitker,87, passed away on November 13, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Center with his loving wife at his side.

Ken was born September 22, 1935 in Holcomb, Kansas to Paul William Schnitker and Nellie M. (Bender) Schnitker.&nbsp; After growing up in western Kansas, he resided in Lewis, Kansas.

He married Janie Schnitker October 17, 1987 in Offerle, Kansas. They then moved to Assaria followed by Salina, where they resided.

Ken had many careers from bodywork on cars to working for Wilbert Vault in Salina. He also worked in maintenance at Offerle School, Kansas Wesleyan and McCall Manor Retirement Center in Salina. He loved doing anything for the residents.

Ken loved his dogs Foxy and Toby. Foxy has passed on but Toby has been his constant companion for the last 17 years. He loved being around family, grandkids, and great-grandkids. They always brought a smile to his face. Camping as well as riding in or driving his '69 Chevelle brought him much happiness and peace.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janie; sons Kevin and Art (Tracy); stepson Rocky; daughter Laura (Joel); stepdaughter Angel (Kevin); 10 grandkids, 12 great-grandkids; brother Ray; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp; Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, New Cambria.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Gordon Byron Boone, 62, of Salina, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, He was born September 9, 1960, in Salina, Kansas.

Gordon attended Salina Central High School, then joined the Marines. He later worked construction, then an assistant manger for Taco John’s in Salina. He spent the last 25 years as a devoted dad to his son Eddie.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Boone (Burnell), daughter Trista J. Boone, sister Gayle L. Boone.

Survivors include his son Edward D. Boone of Salina and sister Gwynne Brown of Salina.

Gerald G. “Jere” Gieber, son of Bernard and Alvena Gieber, was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Strawberry, Kansas. Jere was the oldest of four children. His early years were spent enjoying country life and attending school in Strawberry and Clara, Kansas.

In 1945, his family moved to Topeka, Kansas, where he attended speech therapy classes. Missing country living, his family returned to the family farm. In 1947, the family again moved to a farm south of Belleville, where he attended school at Summit Point School District. His love of tilling the land, breaking horses, caring for cattle, sheep and hogs was his life.

Jere was drafted into the Kansas National Guard in 1955, and was a member of the Belleville unit. He was also a 3rd&nbsp;Degree member of the Knights of Columbus #2609 of Belleville, Munden and Cuba.

Jere passed away November 11, 2022, at the Belleville Healthcare and Rehab, at the age of 87.

Preceding him in death are his parents, infant brother Gregory, and brother James. 

He is survived by his brother Maurice and his wife Barb of Belleville, sister-in-law Nancy, many nieces and nephews, stepnieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He will forever hold in his heart the love of his care takers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 14, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Edward Catholic Church in Belleville; burial will be at the Belleville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 13th, from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home.

Rosary / vigil services will be Sunday evening at 6 p.m., at the funeral home. The family will greet friends following the rosary services.

Memorials are requested to the Republic County Hospital, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Eric L. Taylor, 50, of Palmer, passed away November 1, 2022.

Eric Lee Taylor was born on December 11, 1971, in Vancouver, Washington, to Gary &amp; Darlene (Samuelson) Taylor, and he passed away on November 1, 2022.

Eric grew up on the family farm near Palmer, and graduated from Linn High School in 1990. He then attended Beloit Vo-Tech and Salina Vo-Tech, earning certificates in welding and HVAC. 

A member of the Vintage Faith Church of Manhattan, Eric was devoted to his faith. He went on many mission trips, including Guatemala.

He was the 5th generation on the family farm, and Eric enjoyed the rural life. He was a member of the Palmer Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, self-repair and DIY projects, spreading the word of Christ, and was always willing to help others in need.&nbsp;

Eric is preceded in death by his father Gary. 

He is survived by his mother Darlene of Palmer, Kansas;&nbsp; brother Ian and his wife Krista of Callaway, Nebraska; and nephews Cooper of Clifton, Kansas and Eli of Salina, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 9th, at 10:00 a.m., at the LCL Buffalo Ranch, east of Clifton.

Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery, rural Clifton.

Curtiss Richard “Mr. B” Belisle, 82, of McPherson passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Pine Village of Moundridge, KS.  Curtiss was born May 7, 1940 on the family farm, in rural Brewster, KS to the late Otis Joe and the late Marie Suzan (Richard) Belisle.

  He was baptized at and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, KS in his youth. 

He married Deanne Polson on November 3, 1962.  

Curtiss graduated from Derby High School.  He attended both Fort Hays State University and Louisiana State University, studying business administration and general arts. 

Curtiss worked for fifteen years at Boeing in Houston, TX dealing with procurement and facilities operations. He and his wife Deanne were the owner and operator of two restaurants for the remainder of his working life.  They were Tum Thum Restaurant in Cherokee, AL and Mr. B’s Family Restaurant in McPherson, KS.  He was even known as Mr. B to many of his friends.  

He is survived by his grandchildren Jessica Anderson (Jesse) of Canton, KS and Andrew Belisle of AL; sisters Loretta Gross and Linda Mellenbruch; brothers Bob Belisle (Randy) and Jerry Belisle (Kim); daughter-in-law Linda Belisle; as well as great-grandchildren Emma, Jude, and Jonah Anderson.

Curtiss is preceded in death by his parents; wife Deanne; daughter Christy Belisle; sons Brad Belisle and Todd Belisle; and sisters Emily Gatz and Ramona Chambers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.

The funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Miller officiating.  Burial will be follow at McPherson City Cemetery, McPherson, KS.

Our mother, Hildegard Agnes Krieger Thiessen, lived a long and full life. She passed from this life on November 12, 2022 just one day shy of her 94th birthday. On Saturday she took her last earthly breath and on Sunday she celebrated her birthday in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Hildegard was born to Leonard and Agatha Krieger on November 13, 1928. They lived on a farm outside of Cordell, OK, enduring the very difficult days of the Dust bowl. Hildegard was the eldest of four children which included her brothers Edgar and Norbert, and her sister Nelda. 

Education was important to Hildegard and her parents. After completing grade school at the MK &amp; T Grade School, she was able to continue her high school education at Corn Bible Academy in Corn, OK. Because this was a twenty-mile drive from her home, Hildegard was able to board with several different families in town during her high school years. At home on the weekends and during her summer breaks, Hildegard was able to do the mowing at the local cemetery which she enjoyed. This job enabled her earn enough money to buy fabric which she sewed into the clothing she needed for school.

After graduating from Corn Bible Academy in 1947, Hildegard was given the opportunity to continue her education at Tabor College. This was a privilege that not many of her peers were offered or even desired, but she relished. She graduated from Tabor College in 1951. Her education allowed her opportunities to work in different business ventures throughout her adult life.

In January of 1951,while working in the Tabor bookstore, Hildegard met a young man who came to buy a textbook which he couldn’t afford. Although Wilmer Thiessen didn’t get that book, he got something much more precious - a lifelong relationship with his future wife. 

After Tabor, their relationship continued across the miles via correspondence from Hillsboro to Denver, CO where Wilmer was working. In January of 1954 he traveled to Hillsboro and surprised Hildegard with his unexpected visit and a proposal, which she accepted. They were married at the Bessie Mennonite Brethren Church outside of Cordell, OK on June 6, 1954.

Their life together took them from Hillsboro, to Denver, to Henderson, NE and back to Denver. Together they formed many long-term friendships through church and work. They lived a happy life in Denver and Littleton, Colorado for the next 20 years. During this time they added to their family. Charlene was born in 1955 (during their time living in Henderson, NE), Lynette joined the family in 1958, Shaun in 1961 and Vonda in 1965.

After 20 years in the Denver and Littleton area, Wilmer was offered a job at the Mennonite Brethren Missions Office in Hillsboro, Kansas. They moved the family in June 1974. During the next 40-some years, Hildegard was again able to work Tabor College in the business Office, and just before she retired she ran The Bookstore on Main Street which brought her much fulfillment.

In September of 2018, Wilmer and Hildegard made the decision to move to Wichita, KS to be closer to their children because of Hildegard’s diagnosis of dementia. They enjoyed two years together in their new home at Kansas Masonic Home. After caring for his bride of 66 years, Wilmer passed away on December 19, 2020. Hildegard continued residing at KMH until her death.

Hildegard is preceded in death by her husband Wilmer; her parents Leonard and Agatha Krieger; and her brother Edgar.

She is survived by her children Charlene (Fred DeLoera) Thiessen, Lynette (Dwight) Roth, Shaun (Karen) Thiessen, and Vonda (Duane) Kinser; her grandchildren Aaron (Alena) Almendarez, Jessie (Adam) Hartke, Sandy (David Snyir) Almendarez, Alex Thiessen, Zac Thiessen, Andrew (Kayla) Kinser and Daniel Kinser; her great-grandchildren Henry Hartke, Asa Almendarez, Garrett Snyir and Leona Snyir; and her sister Nelda (Virgil) Thiessen, and her brother Norbert (Sylvia) Krieger.

Vernice Lucille Brubaker, 91, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 12:41 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022 in McPherson, Kansas. Vernice was born in Seattle, Washington on August 31, 1931, a daughter of Myrtle (Mohler) and Victor Wilhelm. Vernice attended LaVerne College, LaVerne, California where she received her teaching degree. She was a member of Monitor Community Church of the Brethren in McPherson. Vernice was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.&nbsp; She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for several years. Vernice was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School leader, Bible study leader, and a counselor at Camp LaVerne. She loved being a mom, grandma, and Great-Grandma "GG", enjoyed camping with her family, singing and playing the piano. Vernice L. Wilhelm was united in marriage to Dwayne LaVerne Brubaker on June 11, 1950 in LaVerne, California. The young couple established their first home together in Los Angeles, California. They were blessed with three children, two daughters and one son, Cheryl, Dale, and Karen. In 1953 they moved their family to Downey, Califorina. In 1964 the family moved to LaMirada, California. In 1990 Vernice and Dwayne moved to McPherson, Kansas to be closer to family.

Dwayne passed away on August 9, 2014. She is survived by her children Cheryl Anne Tschudin and her husband Bob of McPherson, Kansas; Dale Edward Brubaker and his wife Sara of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Karen Elaine Linn and her husband Jerry of McPherson, Kansas; her sister Victoria Rose of San Bernardino, California. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Casey, Joshua, Bethany, Samuel, Shanna, Nate, Jacob, Tyler, Bryce and Caleb; 12 great-grandchildren, Amarel, Runa, Jase, Riley, Avery, Lyle, Wendell, Niko, Amy, Judah and Bri. Vernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dwayne Brubaker; and her brother Eugene Herbert Wilhelm. Services will be at a later date. Lee Irvin White, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022, at The Cedars, McPherson.&nbsp; He was born on January 4, 1930, the son of Walter and Dorothy White.&nbsp; 

Lee joined the Army on April 21, 1950, and honorably served in the Korean War.

After completing basic training, Lee attended the AT&amp;T Radio School at Fort Mammoth, New Jersey, and taught electronics to other service members until he was discharged.&nbsp; Once discharged, he went back to school to study TV repair.&nbsp; He had a TV/radio repair shop in Newton, KS prior to working for Green’s Appliance as a TV/radio technician in McPherson for many years.&nbsp; He then went to work for NCRA and later successfully operated the family business, White’s TV &amp; Communications for over 60 years.&nbsp;

Lee was united in marriage to Margaret J. Seiler on January 1, 1954, in Halstead, Kansas.&nbsp; They were blessed with a son, Shawn, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage, until her passing on January 15, 2018.&nbsp;

Lee was a member of the American Legion Post #24 and was an amateur radio enthusiast.

He is survived by his son Shawn White and wife Stacey, of McPherson, KS; two grandkids; three great-grandkids; and a sister-in-law, Lamerlas White of Biloxi, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers John White and Wallace White.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 18, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; Burial with military honors will follow at Halstead Cemetery.

Charles “Charlie” Joseph Vondra, 92, passed away November 14, 2022 in Ellsworth. He was born July 4, 1930 in Ellsworth County to Frank and Mary (Svara) Vondra. 

He went to country school through 8th grade and then attended Ellsworth High School. 

Charlie married Gloria Milbradt in Ellsworth on February 17, 1963.

Charlie served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was a Purple Heart recipient. 

He was a business owner of Ellsworth Truck and Tractor as well as the Lyons Inn. He was also a farmer and a stockman. He was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post #174, Ellsworth VFW Post #6485, and a member of the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church. Charlie loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and his friends.

Charlie is survived by his daughter Tami McGreevy (Kyle) of Ellsworth; son Ted Vondra of Salina; granddaughter Kyli McGreevy of Ellsworth; grandson Jace McGreevy (Danielle) of Lorraine; great-granddaughters Emma and Josi; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gloria; brothers Fred and Frank Vondra; nephew Steve Vondra; and great-nephew Ryan Vondra.

Margarette was born on December 13, 1952 to Delmar and Dorothy Sherwood in Colony, Kansas. 

&nbsp;After Margarette graduated from Iola High School in 1970, she earned a degree in nursing at Pittsburg State University and continuing to a master’s of nursing years later at Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; Along with her master’s of nursing she also pursued a degree in Christian education from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri.

After graduation, she worked in nursing for over 36 years. Margarette had a deep passion for nursing.&nbsp; Margarette was also a pastor’s wife for over 45 years and enjoyed teaching children’s church, Sunday school, playing the piano and organizing church functions when called.

In 1973, she met Mark McReynolds at The Lake of the Ozarks during a Christian youth group activity. Mark and Margarette were wed on August 10, 1974 and went on to have three daughters, Rachel Starbuck, Sarai Golden, and Mary Weeks.

After 36 years of her nursing career, Margarette still enjoyed her life-long career of teaching and serving within the church as well as being a positive mentor for her three daughters and spouses as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margarette was preceded in death by her parents Delmar and Dorothy Sherwood and brother Danny Sherwood. 

She is survived by her loving husband Mark McReynolds, sisters Barbara Sherwood and Thelma Hisel, children Rachel (Michael) Starbuck, Sarai (Daryl) Golden and Mary Weeks.&nbsp; Also survived by grandchildren Breanna Golden, Samantha (Paul) Taylor, Brittani Golden, John (Katie) Starbuck, Austin (Noemi) Golden, Thaddaeus (Rachel) Starbuck, Timothy (Megan) Starbuck, Auhnna Golden, Stephen Starbuck, Braunson Golden, Deon Weeks, Hannah Starbuck and Jorja Weeks. &nbsp;Besides children and grandchildren, she is survived by seven great-grandchildren.

Fred’s life began on March 10, 1935, in White City. He is the son of Fred and Orlena (Kohls) Herpich.&nbsp; 

Fred is a graduate of Woodbine High School and served his country in the United States Army Reserve before returning home to help on the family farm.&nbsp; 

Fred was a lifelong farmer in the area and also ran a carpentry crew for many years.&nbsp; He was an avid car collector and enjoyed his coffee group at the Hitching Post. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene.&nbsp; 

Fred was united in marriage to his wife of 64 years, Gladys Hamilton, on January 2, 1958, in Oklahoma.&nbsp; 

He is survived by his wife Gladys of Abilene; daughter Jennifer (Joel) Phillips of Florida; grandchildren Ashley Johnson of Emporia, Hanna Phillips of Florida, and Haley Phillips of Virginia; great-grandchildren Briley or Gauge Johnson and his sister Alvera Waymeyer of Topeka.&nbsp; 

Fred passed away at his home on Monday, November 7, 2022.&nbsp; 

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Rick Herpich, infant daughter of Nancy Herpich, and sister Florence Steely.&nbsp; 

His family will gather with friends on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, White City for a graveside service led by Pastor Joseph Barlau of the Faith Lutheran Church.&nbsp;

He is the son of Fred and Orlena (Kohls) Herpich.&nbsp; Fred is a graduate of Woodbine High School and served his country in the United States Army Reserve before returning home to help on the family farm.&nbsp; Fred was a lifelong farmer in the area and also ran a carpentry crew for many years.&nbsp; He was an avid car collector and enjoyed his coffee group at the Hitching Post. Anna Margaret Reed Burns went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2022. She was 84 years old. 

She is survived by her friend, partner and caretaker Wayne Thompson and family.

 Anna was born August 18, 1938 in Alliance, Nebraska to Marjorie (Self) and Everett Mann. She was raised in Guide Rock, Nebraska. 

She was married to Don Reed in 1963 raising six children: Melody (Lloyd); Daniel; David (Tami); Judy (Joe); Alta (Jay) and Hope (Ralph). She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Enterprise, Kansas since 1975. 

Her husband of 46 years died in November of 2010.

Anna married Don Burns in 2011. They were very happy for three years. He passed away in 2013. 

She is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kasey, Jody (Kraig), Don (Stephanie), Krystal, Isaac, Kellen (Merinda), Landon, Ashland (Kyle) and Nate; great-grandchildren Jalen, Mia, Dax; and many more nieces, nephews and stepchildren and great-stepchildren. 

Funeral services for Anna will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Enterprise. Burial will follow at the Prairiedale Cemetery in Talmage. Family will receive friends Monday from noon until service time at the church. 

The family suggests memorials be given to the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Enterprise. Memorials may be left at the church or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
