Dorothy Maxine Wallis, 84, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2022 at Cedars House in McPherson.
Maxine was born in Granite City, Illinois on March 20, 1938, a daughter of Esther Helen (Boelling) Rice and Frank Arnold.
Maxine attended Venice Grade School and Venice High School, Venice Illinois and graduated from Joliet High School, Joliet, Illinois, in 1956.
Through the years Maxine managed Doctor's Emergency Medical Services, Joliet, Illinois along with several other medical offices in Joliet. She was the business manager for the McPherson Hospital, McPherson, Kansas until she retired in 2003. After retirement she worked for the McPherson YMCA and taught dance and Silver Sneakers Fitness Classes. Maxine loved to share her dancing talent with many generations. She enjoyed teaching dance and clogging for Sunflower Stompers in McPherson.
Maxine enjoyed dancing and performing, and scrapbooking with her friends.
Maxine Arnold was united in marriage to Donald Longanecker on Aug. 17, 1957 in Joliet, Illinois. The young couple established their first home together in Joliet. This union was with the birth of a daughter, Denise. Maxine was then united in marriage to Eldred Wallis in 1982 in Joliet.
She is survived by her daughter Denise O' Connor-Munsey and her husband Jim of McPherson, Kansas; her brother Jerry Rice and his wife Sheri of Woodward, Oklahoma.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Erin O' Connor(Austin Russell), Kevin O'Connor, Colleen Krizek(Cole) and Patrick Munsey.
Maxine is proceeded in death by her parents; her husband Eldred and a niece, Lauren Rice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, Kansas.
Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Tim Leaf officiating.
Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery Mausoleum Building, McPherson, Kansas.
