Robert Lee "Bob" Green, 94, of McPherson, KS passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his home in McPherson, Kansas. Robert was born in Enid, Oklahoma on July 20, 1928, a son of Teresa Mary (May) and Earl Leo Green. Robert attended Grant County schools, and graduated from Lamont High School, Lamont, Oklahoma in 1946. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, Kansas. Robert spent most of his career in the United States Air Force where he had achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his discharge, he worked for Beneficial Finance prior to owning and operating a small insulating business. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24, McPherson, and the Bass Masters Club of McPherson. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, visiting with his friends, and spending time with his family. Robert L. Green was united in marriage to Joan Kathleen Messall on June 14, 1951 in Enid, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with the birth of five sons, Michael, Mark, Steven, Timothy, and Thomas. The couple moved to McPherson in 1974 from El Dorado, Kansas. He is survived by his sons Michael Green and Janet, of Towanda, Kansas, Mark Green and wife Jaimie, of Gordon, Texas, Steven Green and wife Sandy, of Greenwood, Missouri, and Timothy Green, of San Francisco, California; his sister-in-law, Sue Green, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his nine grandchildren, Jason and wife Elizabeth, Ryan and wife Mary, Chad and wife Erin, Nicholas and wife Monica, Matthew, Christopher and wife Adrienne, Thomas and wife Becki, Meghan and husband James, and Alicia; his 14 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gabriel, Katherine, William, Grace, Henry, Collin, Brady, William, Kinsley, Coleston, Brynna, Kali, and Mielee; other relatives and a host of friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas S. Green; his wife Joan K. Green; and a brother, Earl Franklin Green. A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado, Kansas with Father John Lanzwrath officiating. Jerry attended local schools in Herington, before enlisting into the United States Navy, where he spent 12 years. Jerry was self-employed and loved working for himself. Jerry’s favorite passion was being a member of the Throttle Jockey’s car club.

Jerry is survived by his daughters Marnita and Melissa, sons Terry and Darren, brothers Bill and Tom, several grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry, brother Donny, and sister Helen.

John passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2022, at the Herington Municipal Hospital.

John attended St. Paul Parochial School in Herington until its closure. He then attended Herington Schools, graduating with the class of 1968. He then furthered his education at Salina Vo-Tech School studying diesel mechanics. As a youth, John was a very active member of Herington High School FFA and the Burdick Hustlers 4-H. 

On June 7, 1964, John was confirmed in his Lord and Savior at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Herington where he was a lifelong member. In 1970, John enlisted into the Kansas National Guard. 

While stationed at Fort Belvoir, he met Kathleen Cater at a USO dance. On March 26, 1972, John and Kathleen married in Herington. John and Kathy adopted two children, Bevan and Mindy.

John farmed with his grandpa and eventually took over the family farm where he lived the rest of his life. John also worked at the rock quarry north of Woodbine for 24 years as a heavy equipment operator; he then worked for Morris County as an equipment operator for another 11 years. John coached Special Olympics for 20 years.&nbsp; For 37 years, John lived for the faces of youth, he delighted every winter as he donned his “bright red suit” proudly.

John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy, of the home, son Bevan Herpich, daughter Mindy Herpich, sister Beverly Penn, grandchildren Haley Herpich, Ethan Herpich, Karsyn Herpich, Easton Herpich, Jacob Herpich, and Christian Schulze, great-granddaughter Olivia Grace Chronister, nieces Talena Penn, Sara Penn, and great-nephew Hunter Graham. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and niece Tisha Graham.

Silas P.I. Stucky was born on October 14, 1927 to Peter T. and Ida JC Gehring Stucky in McPherson County, Kansas. He attended the Mound Grade School and the Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. 

Silas was baptized upon his profession of faith in Christ Jesus at the age of 16 by Rev. Walter Gehring. Faith, family, and farming were the integral parts of his life.

In 1940 his family moved to a farm near Burns and he graduated from the Burns High School in 1945. He helped to build the Burns Mennonite Church and enjoyed playing basketball with his “Stucky Brothers” team. 

It was at a church youth party where Silas met the love of his life, Edna Guhr. On August 26, 1948 they were married at the Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater, Edna’s home church. “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” I Samuel 7:12 was their wedding and life verse as they depended on Him for wisdom and grace for every day. 

They enjoyed farming all of their married lives, trusting God to provide. When first married they farmed near Burns and Peabody. In 1956 God provided a farm north of Elbing and this became their home for the next 53 years where they raised four daughters. Many hands made light work and working together as a family on the farm brought many blessings. Daily morning devotions found them gathered around the kitchen table with Our Daily Bread and the Bible. Kneeling for prayer sought God’s wisdom and grace.

 From the girls’ early years the family sang together with Edna playing the guitar and Silas sharing devotionals as they gave programs in the area, known as the “Stucky Family Singers.”

 In 2009 at the age of 82 they retired from farming and moved into Elbing. Their legacy continues with another generation on the farm. In 2018 they moved into an independent apartment at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. In 2020 they moved into the home made for them at daughter Diane and Mark’s home. Being back with family meant so much. 

Silas passed into the presence of his Savior on August 2, 2022 at the age of 94. 

He is survived by his wife Edna of 73 years and their daughters and husbands Elaine (Schmidt) of Elbing, Bonnie (Stan Graber) rural Burns, Nadine (Friesen) BC C,anada, and Diane (Mark Veer) rural Newton. 

They have 15 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

He is survived by three sisters-in-law Ruby (John) Stucky, Faye (Joseph) Stucky, and Alice (Daniel) Stucky, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

He was proceeded in death by seven brothers, Samuel (Florence), David (Esther), Jonas (Della), Paul (Leta), John, Joseph, and Daniel, and one sister, Esther (Wayne) Ott. 

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13 with the burial at the Burns Countryside Church at 9:30. The service will be at 11:00 at the Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing with a lunch following. Visitation will be the evening prior on Friday, Aug. 12 at the Lamb Mortuary in Whitewater with family greeting from 6:00-8:00. 

Memorials may be made to the donors choice in Silas’s honor or to Berean Academy where Edna was.

Stucky was born on October 14, 1927 to Peter T. and Ida JC Gehring Stucky in McPherson County, Kansas. He attended the Mound Grade School and the Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Silas was baptized upon his profession of faith in Christ Jesus at the age of 16 by Rev. Walter Gehring. Faith, family, and farming were the integral parts of his life.In 1940 his family moved to a farm near Burns and he graduated from the Burns High School in 1945. He helped to build the Burns Mennonite Church and enjoyed playing basketball with his “Stucky Brothers” team. It was at a church youth party where Silas met the love of his life, Edna Guhr. On August 26, 1948 they were married at the Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater, Edna’s home church. “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” I Samuel 7:12 was their wedding and life verse as they depended on Him for wisdom and grace for every day. They enjoyed farming all of their married lives, trusting God to provide. When first married they farmed near Burns and Peabody. In 1956 God provided a farm north of Elbing and this became their home for the next 53 years where they raised four daughters. Many hands made light work and working together as a family on the farm brought many blessings. Daily morning devotions found them gathered around the kitchen table with Our Daily Bread and the Bible. Kneeling for prayer sought God’s wisdom and grace. From the girls’ early years the family sang together with Edna playing the guitar and Silas sharing devotionals as they gave programs in the area, known as the “Stucky Family Singers.” In 2009 at the age of 82 they retired from farming and moved into Elbing. Their legacy continues with another generation on the farm. In 2018 they moved into an independent apartment at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. In 2020 they moved into the home made for them at daughter Diane and Mark’s home. Being back with family meant so much. Silas passed into the presence of his Savior on August 2, 2022 at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife Edna of 73 years and their daughters and husbands Elaine (Schmidt) of Elbing, Bonnie (Stan Graber) rural Burns, Nadine (Friesen) BC C,anada, and Diane (Mark Veer) rural Newton. They have 15 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is survived by three sisters-in-law Ruby (John) Stucky, Faye (Joseph) Stucky, and Alice (Daniel) Stucky, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was proceeded in death by seven brothers, Samuel (Florence), David (Esther), Jonas (Della), Paul (Leta), John, Joseph, and Daniel, and one sister, Esther (Wayne) Ott. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13 with the burial at the Burns Countryside Church at 9:30. The service will be at 11:00 at the Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing with a lunch following. Visitation will be the evening prior on Friday, Aug. 12 at the Lamb Mortuary in Whitewater with family greeting from 6:00-8:00. David D. Hughes, age 90, entered into rest peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home in Clyde.&nbsp;

David Dean Hughes, “Poppie,” went to be with our gracious God on August 2, 2022 at the youthful age of 90, in his home, blessed to be surrounded by family that loves him. He was born on June 2, 1932 in Jamestown, KS to Elijah Lee and Pearl Jeannette Harris Hughes.

At the age of 17, he met Alice Marie Robbins and the two were united in marriage on October 15, 1950 in Belleville, KS. To this union, four children were born, Richard Dean, Deborah Dean, David Dean II, and Doreen Dean. 

David and Alice spent many years traveling the United States chasing his job where he became the youngest paint superintendent for a C.L. Delong company, Southwestern Public Services Power Plants. In 1965 David became self-employed as United Industrial Painting and worked for Southwestern Public Services doing maintenance and painting of power plants, microwave towers, smokestacks, and water towers. His last water tower to paint was in Clyde, KS where he and Alice had established their homestead. 

n 1970 Dave and Alice purchased Mom &amp; Pops in Clyde and operated the business for 30 years. Together they shared many adventures over the years, such as owning and operating a tree trimming and snow removal business, United Auto Sales, Hughes and Hughes Waterbed, Hughes Entertainment, Mom &amp; Pops 2, and even the St. Joe Store for 30 days. He was a skilled worker and a jack of all trades. 

Two of his favorite activities were riding the motorcycle and dancing with Alice. They rode many miles together on his prized motorcycle, sometimes short distances, and others across the United States. They also won several dancing competitions. He had many interests in life including fishing, hunting and training hunting dogs, riding horses, singing, dancing, telling stories, laughing and making others laugh, teaching his grandchildren how to drive cars, ride bikes, play pool, many valuable life lessons such as feeding the donkeys or walking the turtles(so many stories we could tell), and most importantly spending time with family and friends. He was always willing to give advice, whether you wanted to hear it or not, he never knew a stranger, and would not hesitate to help a person in need. He was ornery, quick witted, and loved to tease people. He lived a good, full life, and he had fun doing it.

Poppie’s pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his wife Alice of Clyde, KS, their children Deborah Czapanskiy(Bill) Clyde, KS, David Hughes II(Patti) Lampe, MO, Doreen Anderson(Jim) Clyde, KS, eight grandchildren, David Hughes III(Brandi) Overland Park, KS, Billy Czapanskiy(Chandra) Ames, KS, Elijah Hughes(Caressa) Thorton, CO, Bradley Czapanskiy(Julie) Concordia, KS, Christi Olliverson(Eric) Shell Knob, MO, Shane Hughes(Kendra) Overland Park, KS, Jerlynn Johnston(Jarrod) Concordia, KS, Adam Junek(Emily) Cuba, KS, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elijah and Pearl Hughes, brothers and sisters Glen Adams, Edith Bisnette, Charley Hughes, Nadine Griffiths, Vera Tieking, Vernon Hughes, Billie Mack Hughes, Eddie Hughes, Louvena Larson, son Richard, and grandson Jared, son-in-law, Ed Junek.

David was a very special man that touched many lives. He was so loved and will be missed by so many. Prior to his death, he informed his family that he would do it his way, and he did.

David has chosen cremation. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 1:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chaput Mortuary, in Clyde with family greeting friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at The Branch, in Clyde, Kansas, with David Hughes III and Rebekah Amerin officiating. David has requested a gathering for a celebration of his life at B’s place, former Mom and Pops in Clyde, following Celebration of Life Services.

The family suggests memorials be made to David Dean Hughes memorial fund which will be determined by the family at a later date in care of Chaput Mortuary, P.O. Box 291, Clyde, KS 66938.

Wilbur Dean Beemer, formerly of Carlton, KS passed away July 28, 2022 in Tucson AZ. Wilbur was born September 29, 1929, to Lottie and Leslie Beemer. 

After graduating from Chapman High School, he began farming and later went in to heavy equipment work where he built ponds (his favorite, and often quite creative), terraces and waterways.

 On August 8, 1948 he married Lola Marie Meyer. They raised two children, a son Von and daughter Barbara.

He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Carlton where he taught Sunday school and youth fellowship for many years. In his latter years, he was a member of the Presbyterian churches of Carlton and Tucson, AZ. He was the mayor of Carlton for several years and then continued on as city councilman. In 1976 he started Beemer Construction and was an active member of KLIC.

On December 28, 1985 he married Audrey Hawkes. After his retirement, they moved to Tucson, Arizona where he enjoyed his love for woodworking.

Preceding him in death were his parents Lottie and Leslie, his wife Lola, his brothers Wayne and Maynard, and grandson Ryan Hawkes.

Survivors are his wife Audrey of the home, son Von (Sheila) Beemer, Abilene, KS, daughter Barbara Keeler, Tucson AZ, stepsons Gary ( Nancy) Hawkes, Salina, KS, Larry Hawkes, Wichita, KS, stepdaughter Kathy (Tommy) Barrett of Niles, KS, grandchildren Chris (Lacie) Beemer, Chesapeake, VA, Mark (Jenny) Beemer, Russell, KS, Brittany (Kyle) Aungst, Tucson, AZ, Stephanie Fairclough (Brent ), Salina, KS and Shelby (Jake) Carter, Niles, KS, sisters Betty Ann Cox, Abilene, KS and Velma (Ed) Howie, Salina, KS. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

Cremation was performed by Hudgel’s Swan Funeral Home, Tucson, AZ.

Joseph Fredrick Clemence was born April 2, 1929 to Lawrence and Thelma (Kean) Clemence in Abilene, Kansas. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1946. He grew up in the Sand Springs, KS community area as a kid and most his adult life. He grew up helping his father, Lawrence, on the farm and livestock business. 

On July 9, 1950, Joe married Joanna Carolina Mills. They worked together and started a family on a farm in the Sand Springs community. 

Joe started his venture in the livestock business with Lawrence and other partners at the Salina Livestock Sale Barn in Salina, KS. The sales were Monday and Friday. Joe and another partner purchased the Council Grove Sale Barn in Council Grove, KS The sales were on Saturday. In the mid-60s, Lawrence built the Farmers and Ranchers Sale barn in Salina. The old Salina sale barn closed its doors and Joe changed directions and purchased the Herington Feed yard, later named Tri County Feedlot. Joe could not stay out of the sale barn business so he and two other partners purchased the Herington Livestock Sale barn. After a year in the old sale barn, the partners built a new Herington sale barn where it stands today. Joe managed the feedlot just east of Herington and the Wednesday sales at the Herington Sale barn.

In 1980 Lawrence retired and Joe bought Lawrence’s shares of the Farmers and Ranchers Sale Barn. At that time Joe sold his shares in the Herington Sale Barn. Around 1985 Joe sold the feedlot. In the late 80s Joe sold his shares of the Farmers and Rancher sale barn. He went on the road and did what he did best, bought cattle for other people. He had customers across the state of Kansas.

Joe’s hobby was horses. Joe and his family spent many weekends participating in horse shows throughout the state and high school rodeos across the nation. Joe grew up an avid racoon hunter and enjoyed coyote hunting the old fashion way, with greyhound dogs. 

Joe was a member of Abilene First united Church where he was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School class. He ushered for the 10:30 worship service for 30 years.

Joe is survived by one daughter, Teresa I. Clemence of Goodland, KS, sons Bob and wife Theresa Ann of WaKeeney, KS Jon and wife Cecilia of Abilene, KS and Mike and wife Sandy of Abilene, KS, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Joe’s family also consisted of all the livestock facilities across the states where he sat days on end purchasing livestock. 

Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, wife Joanna, sister Dorothy Montgomery, brother Fred, and a granddaughter Nichole. 

There will be a 10:00 a.m. gravesite service Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Abilene Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Abilene First United Methodist Church.

Matthew Austin Padgett McCready&nbsp;passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the age of 27. He was born December 8, 1994 to Carolyn (McCready)Augustine and Justin E. Padgett.

Matt was a cook and bartender at The Paramount Bar. He previously had worked at The Voo and was an assistant manager at Hog Wild.

He enjoyed playing disc golf, fishing, and ALL sports but especially the Miami Dolphins and KU basketball. He loved his family and friends deeply but especially being an uncle to his nieces. He loved his dog, Hause, so much he called him his son and took him everywhere.

He is survived by his mother Carolyn Augustine of Salina; father Justin E. Padgett (Dona) of Sneads Ferry, NC; sister Erin McCready of Salina, KS; brother Kyle McCready of Salina KS; niece Chloe Whitaker of Salina, KS; niece Alexia Bass of Salina, KS; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Johnny and Dolores Augustine; grandparents David and Joy Padgett, and his brother Timothy E. Padgett.

Friends are invited to a visitation from 4 until 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary. Vigil services will be held at 3 p.m., followed by the family receiving friends until 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Mondy, August 8th at Ryan Mortuary.

To help pay for funeral costs, there will be a celebration of Matt’s life with live music featuring Tony Bowell performing and a silent auction at Big Booty Trudy’s, 509 S. Matt had the kindest soul and biggest heart and loved making people laugh. He will be missed deeply and always loved by his family, friends, and everyone he met.

Glen Ernest Kirk died peacefully after a day of being surrounded by close family, on July 28, 2022, in Belleville, KS, due to complications of a stroke. Glen was 86 years old.

Glen Ernest Kirk, the eldest child of Ernest and Kathryn (Thompson) Kirk was born on a farm on the northeast side of Scandia, KS June 14, 1936. He was one of two children; his brother is Alan D. Kirk of Scandia, KS.

On August 26, 1956, Glen was united in marriage to Loretta Helen Freed. To this union four children were born, Lynn Dale, Kim Sue, Lisa Jean, and Brett Scott (deceased). 

After marriage, they resided in Manhattan, KS while Glen finished college at KSU. They then moved to McCook, Nebraska, where Glen worked for the Federal Bureau of Reclamation for 11 years. During his years in McCook, he was also an architect drawing up plans for many homes and other structures. Glen and his family spent a year in Seattle, Washington in 1968-69 where Glen attended the University of Washington Seattle, School of Public Affairs. Then it was back to McCook until 1973, when they moved to Topeka, KS where he continued to work for the Federal Bureau of Reclamation. 

Glen’s first wife, Loretta, passed away in 1976 after a bout with cancer. 

Glen remarried in 1977 to Sharon Elaine (Freed) McCollum. They resided in Topeka, KS until 2005. In 2005, Glen and Sharon moved back “home” to Scandia, KS.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Kathryn Kirk, his first wife, Loretta H. Kirk, May 12, 1976, and his son, Brett S. Kirk July 3, 2017.

Glen is survived by his second wifeSharon E. Kirk - Scandia, one son, Lynn D. Kirk –Topeka, KS, two daughters, Kim S. Kirk – Scandia, KS, Lisa J. Powers (Chris) – Meriden, KS, and a stepson, Shannon D. McCollum (Laurie) – Topeka, KS, his younger brother Alan D. Kirk (Erna Reye) – Scandia, KS, Six grandchildren, Kyle A. Powers (Mallory) – Manhattan, KS, Brady K. Billings (Rachel) – Topeka, KS, Kysa M. Farrant (Jake) – Meriden, KS, Scott R. Kirk – Manhattan, KS, Shawna R. Kirk – Manhattan, KS, and Shane A. McCollum – Topeka, KS, and five great-grandchildren, Millie, Maxton and Beau Farrant, and Kasold and Huxley Powers.

Glen received his education in the Scandia schools, graduating with the class of 1953. By chance, Glen ended up going to Fairbury Junior college and from there went to Kansas State University where he received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1959. In 1967 Glen became a member of the Professional Engineers and Architects of Nebraska, a member state of National Society of Professional Engineers.

Glen and family spent the 1968-69 school year in Bothell, Washington after being selected in a nationwide competition to become a Fellow for National Institute of Public Affairs. Thus, Glen completed a year of graduate study at the University of Washington. In 1975 Glen passed the state board exam and became a licensed professional engineer in the state of Kansas. He retired from his federal service in 1984 after 27 years of service. He then went to work for the State of Kansas Water Office for 18 years, retiring in 2002.

Glen was a member of the United Methodist Church in McCook, as well as Scandia, KS. He was a member of the Scandia Lions Club. Glen was active for many years in the promotion of scouting. His pinewood derby cars were the cars to beat, although they seldom were. He served as the chairman of the McCook City Planning Commission from 1970-73. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers Irrigation and Drainage Division.

Glen received his land surveyor license in 1988. In 2001 Glen received a diploma from the American Society of Civil Engineers for achieving the status of life member. Also, in 2001 he received the Kansas City District Heartland Award in recognition for his 18 years of partnering with the state of Kansas, the Corps of engineers, and the nation to formulate and implement projects and policies for water resources development in Kansas.

Glen was a busy man, and his interests were many. As such he was an excellent conversationalist. He was very intelligent, logical, and practical and could talk about anything. Glen always had a smile on his face, a few words of wisdom and great advice. He was a lifelong learner and was always interested in what others were up to. If you had a project, he wanted to know what it was and a bit about it.

Farming was in his blood; his parents and grandparents were farmers and he married two different farm girls. Most days found Glen wearing a pair of overalls. He had a green thumb, and a knack for gardening inside and out. He loved trying new things. In his earlier years Glen loved to sail and he owned a small sailboat. Camping was also a favorite activity. Tent camping in his younger days and then upgrading to a camping trailer, which he hauled across the country. Traveling was high on his list. Glen loved to travel the blue highways and traveled to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, and Italy. Half the fun of his trips was in the planning and mapping out of the routes and the stops to be made along the way. He loved spending time with his family, and they were often included in his many excursions across the country.&nbsp;When his own children became too old for the trips, the grandchildren got in on the action.

&nbsp;As an avid reader, he would snuggle up and read with the kids, grandkids and even the great-grandchildren. He instilled the love of reading in all of us. Glen enjoyed working with wood and usually had a project going around the house.

As Mae West said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” Glen did it right. He will be dearly missed by many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, Kansas.

Memorial services will be Saturday, August 13, at 3:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Scandia, Kansas. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Scandia.

He married Norine Fadley December 15, 1957 in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

Barbara Renner, age 97, of Burr Oak, entered into rest on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, Kansas. She was born to Josef Stock and Barbara (Hauf) Stock on July 5, 1925 in Huttlingen, Germany.

She was the youngest sibling of five, three brothers, Josef, Anton, and German and one sister, Josephine. She passed away on, July 9, 2022. Barbara came to the United States of America on January 1st of 1953 at the age of 27.

She was united in marriage to Dallas Renner on March 1, 1953. Barbara’s husband, Dallas passed away on October 1, 1993. She continued to live in the Burr Oak community until she moved to long term care in Mankato in June of 2022.

Barbara had a great love for her cats and all creatures. In her younger years she would be seen taking her walks around Burr Oak carrying a pocket full of dog food for any dogs she would meet along the way. She always enjoyed watching and feeding the baby fox that lived in the white Rock Creek behind her home.

Barbara loved going to garage sales and thrift stores and always found a treasure of two; some she would keep and some she would give away to neighbors, friend or to those she hired to help her do chores around her home.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas, her parents and three brothers and a sister. She will be dearly missed by her friends and neighbors.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial will be held at a later date in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to any Humane Society of your choice or the Burr Oak Community Center.

Kerri Ann Blake, age 50, of Hastings, NE, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.

Kerri Ann (Schumock) Blake was born to Vincent and Pearl (Kozitka) Schumock on April 5, 1972, in Stockton, California. Following graduation for high school, Kerri attended Cloud County Community College. 

Kerri married Troy Blake on February 14, 1991, and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage together.

Kerri and Blake had two dogs that they called their kids, Maggie and Toby; Kerri loved them dearly.

God called Kerri home on July 27th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at CHI St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska. She will be missed by one and all.

She is survived by her husband Troy, mother-in-law Kathy Blake, aunt Loretta Greenberg.

She is preceded in death by her parents Vince and Pearl Schumock, Rodney Blake, Charles Greenberg, Bob Murphy, Herald Ross and Iola Grubbs.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Kansas.

Roy Eugene Long, 81, of Windom, KS, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 1, 2022, at his home.&nbsp; Roy was born on February 16, 1941, to James and Myrtle (Griffith) Long in Hutchinson, KS.

He retired from Johns Manville after 25 years in the maintenance department.

Roy married Bertha “Bert” L. (Hunley) Johnson on September 20, 1965.&nbsp;

He was a former member of the Windom Fire Department, Windom Lions Club, and the Windom City Council.

He is survived by his wife Bertha “Bert”; daughters Bobbie (Dick) Rawson of Marquette, KS and Robin Wilson of Windom, KS; son Russell Long of Windom, KS; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Kristen (Ryan) Leatherwood and their children, Clay and Kadee, of Wister, OK and Jude (Zaina) Ebingha of Edmond, OK, Nicholas (Brittany) Rawson and their children, Harrison &amp; Quinten, of Lyons, KS, Austin Wilson of Newton, KS, Alissa (Olivier) Basabe of Miami, FL; step-granddaughter and three step-grandchildren, Gwen (Jeff) Klepper and their children, Lane, Ashtin, and Grant, of Ellinwood, KS; sister Janis Smyth of Hutchinson, KS; brothers Ronald (Jan) Long and Dean Long, all of Hutchinson, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
