Becky Joy Just Rageth, passed away on March 21, 2023, surrounded by family at KU Medical Center after a difficult battle with cancer. A lifetime resident of Salina, Becky was born on Sept 11, 1953 to Ardis (Bevan) and Louis “Buster” Just. 

Becky attended Salina High School and was part of the first graduating class of Salina South in 1971. 

She worked in bookkeeping for many years before opening her own business, The Emporium, in 1998.

Becky Joy was a “joy” to all who knew and loved her. She had a kind, loving heart and a giving, generous nature. She loved making quilts and pillowcases for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling for business and family vacations with her grandsons. A country music fan, she saw many of her favorite musicians in concert. She also enjoyed watching KU basketball games, win or lose! Her love of family was the source of her happiness.

She was preceded in death by her father Louis “Buster” Just; dad Arlen Darrel Sutton; and granddaughter Kelly Lynn Rageth.

She is survived by her children Bryan (Lucinda) Rageth and Sara Rageth; her grandsons Dylon, Auston, Brannon and Chayton Rageth; and her mother Ardis Sutton – all of Salina, KS.

She is also survived by her siblings April (Denny) Boyer, Littleton, CO; Cheri Smock, Salina; Dena (Ray) Starnes, Aurora, CO; and Jeff Sutton, Salina; her stepmother Jeannette Just, Longmont, CO; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be forever loved and missed by all.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Ryan Mortuary.

Henry “Lee” Hoff, 88, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on March 21, 2023.

Lee was born on the farm in Ellis County, Kansas on May 10, 1934 to parents Henry A. Hoff and Margaret E. (Munk) Hoff.

Lee moved to Salina in 1953.&nbsp; He was drafted into the US Army in 1955 and served until 1958.&nbsp; 

He worked at Wyatt’s Mfg. until 1962.&nbsp; Lee and his father, Henry A., started Hoff’s Machine &amp; Welding, Inc. in 1962.&nbsp; Lee retired in 2019.

Lee married Carol Schuckman on May 6, 1961 in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; They were married for 61 years and have three children and three grandchildren.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in law, Robert Waldman.

Lee is survived by his wife Carol; daughter Michelle Hoff; sons Michael Hoff (Jamie) and Mark Hoff (Deirdre); and grandchildren Zane Hoff, Samantha Hoff, and Sadie Hoff, all of Salina.&nbsp; He is also survived by his brother Don Hoff (Pauline) of Dallas, Texas; sisters Maida Waldman of Dodge City, Kansas and Odie Wilson (Don) of Plano, Texas; sisters-in-law Patricia Thibault of Hays, Kansas and Shirley Andrla (Ed) of Salina, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A public visitation will be held Monday, March 27, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary in Salina.&nbsp; The funeral mass and burial will be private.

Memorials can be made to the Salina Animal Shelter or Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Jean Marie Albright, 81, Salina, passed, March 17, 2023.

Jean loved quilting, bingo and casinos. She was a member of Silver Needles, VFW Auxiliary and made and donated many quilts to charity. 

Jean worked at Tony’s and held several positions at the Salina Regional Health Center.

Jean is survived by her husband Kenneth; a daughter, Jaqualin (Bob) Whitcomb; and her brothers Sam (Donna) Wyss and Harvey Wyss. She has grandsons, Kiowa, Chad and Kaleb and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Eddie and beloved dog Marble.

Funeral services will be held April 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth, Salina.

On March 19th, 2023 God, in his infinite wisdom and divine love, released our beloved Gregory Keith Smith “Greg” from all Earthly limitations and granted him everlasting peace and serenity. Greg was born on July 25th, 1969 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. 

He was educated in the Cumberland County School System where he graduated from Southview High School.

 At an early age, he joined Swan’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. After relocating to Kansas, he joined Mercy Church in Olathe and Revolution Church in Salina.

In 1987, he began his four-year service in the Army as a helicopter mechanic. After his time there, he briefly worked at Lockheed Martin in Kansas before returning to Virginia to work for McDonald Douglas. He worked as a corrections officer at the Saline County Sheriff’s Department before being accepted into the 30th recruit class of the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1996. In 2000, he was promoted to Master Trooper.&nbsp; He was promoted to Field Supervisor Lieutenant in 2016 and served until his retirement in May of 2022.

Greg was proceeded in death by his father, Rev. William Gregory Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Misti May Smith; four children, Jordan Alexandra Smith, Caroline Sue Hurst, Brianna Marie Smith, and Andrew Paul Goltl; his mother Mattie Smith of Hope Mills, North Carolina; and his two sisters, Sharon Regina Barham and Tondalaya Richardson; as well as a grandbaby, Kaia Rae Marie Kemp.

Greg had a contagious smile and he valued community. He made everyone around him feel safe and loved, and he shared the love of the Lord with everyone he could. He could always be counted on for a comforting hug, a good laugh, or a word of prayer. 

He made lifelong friends in the bowling alley and made for a great partner on the tennis court. He competed in bowling and tennis tournaments around the country and made it to USTA Nationals. He was proud of his accomplishments on and off the court but even more so of his daughters. He will be missed by many now that he has found everlasting peace with the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at First Covenant Church, 2625 E Magnolia Rd., Salina.

Delbert passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, while in the company of 
family and friends at McPherson Center for Health. He had attained the 
age of 93 years old. 

Delbert was born in Wamego, Kansas on May 
22, 1929, to Ruth (Berroth) and Matt Bohn. He was one of 8 children; 
Charles, Jean, Bernice, Dave, Adella, Judy, and Larry. Delbert attended 
school at Rural District 48 in Alma, Kansas and took his first job at 
Hoffinstein Construction. He was united in his first marriage to Ilene 
Glenn in 1948. They were blessed with four daughters; Cindy, Tina, 
Debbie, and Toni. Delbert was united in marriage to Maxine Wash on 
November 21, 1965. Maxine had two children; Carolyn and Kenneth. Delbert
 made his home in McPherson, Kansas with his wife Maxine and 6 children.


 He was a lifelong professional truck driver for over 40 years. He drove
 for various companies including Otis Bryant Trucking, Don Linden 
Trucking, Ryan Reiff, and Farmland hauling freight, gasoline, propane, 
and ammonia. Delbert had an exemplary driving record totaling 3 million 
miles with no accidents. He had a great eye because he never missed 
anything lying on the side of the road. His sheds were always full of 
screwdrivers, tarp straps, wrenches, pliers, and more of the items he 
found during his time over the road. 

When he wasn’t driving a truck, he 
loved to spend time with his family and was an avid gardener. He was 
known for sharing his garden spoils and would deliver them to friends 
and family in the area. He also loved tractors, spending time at the VFW
 and Legion having dinner with friends, and feeding squirrels and birds 
in his backyard. Delbert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church 
in McPherson, Kansas. 

He is survived by his wife Maxine Bohn of the 
home; children, Carolyn Shamet &amp; Dean Henry of McPherson, KS, 
Kenneth Wash and wife Janice of Olathe, KS, Cindy Hertlein and husband 
Mike of Topeka, KS, Tina Hamilton and husband Brian of Salina, KS, 
Debbie Harman of Salina, KS, and Toni Thompson and husband Greg of 
Bastrop, TX. His siblings Adella Parks, McPherson, Judy Oppenlander, 
Wamego, Larry Bohn, Alma, close friend Mike Krehbiel, McPherson, many 
nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Delbert had 14 Grandchildren,
 25 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Cheryn &amp;

 will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 
Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson, KS. Funeral Services 
will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at First Presbyterian
 Church in McPherson, KS with Pastor David Kincaid officiating. Burial 
will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Charles, Jean, Bernice, Dave, Adella, Judy, and Larry. Delbert attended 
school at Rural District 48 in Alma, Kansas and took his first job at 
Hoffinstein Construction. He was united in his first marriage to Ilene 
Glenn in 1948. They were blessed with four daughters; Cindy, Tina, 
Debbie, and Toni. Delbert was united in marriage to Maxine Wash on 
November 21, 1965. Maxine had two children; Carolyn and Kenneth. Delbert
 made his home in McPherson, Kansas with his wife Maxine and 6 children.
 He was a lifelong professional truck driver for over 40 years. He drove
 for various companies including Otis Bryant Trucking, Don Linden 
Trucking, Ryan Reiff, and Farmland hauling freight, gasoline, propane, 
and ammonia. Delbert had an exemplary driving record totaling 3 million 
miles with no accidents. He had a great eye because he never missed 
anything lying on the side of the road. His sheds were always full of 
screwdrivers, tarp straps, wrenches, pliers, and more of the items he 
found during his time over the road. When he wasn’t driving a truck, he 
loved to spend time with his family and was an avid gardener. He was 
known for sharing his garden spoils and would deliver them to friends 
and family in the area. He also loved tractors, spending time at the VFW
 and Legion having dinner with friends, and feeding squirrels and birds 
in his backyard. Delbert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church 
in McPherson, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Maxine Bohn of the 
home; children, Carolyn Shamet &amp; Dean Henry of McPherson, KS, 
Kenneth Wash and wife Janice of Olathe, KS, Cindy Hertlein and husband 
Mike of Topeka, KS, Tina Hamilton and husband Brian of Salina, KS, 
Debbie Harman of Salina, KS, and Toni Thompson and husband Greg of 
Bastrop, TX. His siblings Adella Parks, McPherson, Judy Oppenlander, 
Wamego, Larry Bohn, Alma, close friend Mike Krehbiel, McPherson, many 
nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Delbert had 14 Grandchildren,

Robert Gene Gould, age 69, of Concordia, KS passed away Friday March 17, 2023 at his home in Concordia, KS. He was born June 5, 1953, at Concordia, KS, son of Jack D. and Phyllis Gile Gould. In 1971 he graduated from Concordia High School. He then went to work in the family business; Gould’s Implement, with his father and grandfather. After his father retired, he went to work at Wilson’s Furniture, Concordia Furniture, and then Sherwin Williams until his retirement.

Robert loved to travel, especially his many trips to Africa and extensively throughout Europe. He also enjoyed many road trips with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James.

Survivors include his identical twin Brother Richard Jack Gould, Concordia, KS, and brother Lee (Debbie), Salina, KS, and a nephew Jared (Kelly), Great Niece Julie, Waco, TX, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

Robert Gene Gould

Norman Joseph Apel, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 
22, 2023, at home with his wife, Mary and family by his side. He was 
born on February 27, 1929, on the family farm north of Ellinwood, Kan. 
to Mathias &amp; Barbara (Heyne) Apel.

He graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1947, and Married F. 
Marilyn Eves on November 28, 1950. He and Marilyn had five children and 
divorced in 1978. Norman worked on the family farm and in the oilfield 
including, Globe Oil Well Cementing and Allied Cementing, out of Great 
Bend, Kan. He then married Gladys Price on August 9, 1980, and she 
passed in March 2015.

He was an active volunteer member of the Assembly of God (now 
Encounter) Church for many years, driving the Sunday school bus and many
 other activities. He continued farming while working for Harv’s 
furniture, Mid Continent LP Service&nbsp; and was a part time driver for 
Marmie Motors.

He then later married Mary Arlene Bieberle on June 25, 2017. They 
enjoyed traveling, church activities, watching Westerns and old 
cartoons, and spending time together.

Survivors include, his wife Mary of the home; his children, Briana 
Ernst (Larry) of Great Bend, Gerilyn Hoard of Salina, Amy Astrab 
(Robert) of Hollister, Mo., and David Apel of Salina, Michael Price 
(Loretta) of Wichita, Bobby Price (Ina) of Cushing, Okla., Eddie Price 
(Karen) and Terry Price (Shelly) all of Great Bend, and Sherry Cox 
(Shawn) of Derby; one sister, Mary Jean Miller (Dick) of Great Bend; 27 
grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and 
numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Gladys; one
 son, Gary Duane Apel; son in law, Mark Hoard; a brother, Harry Apel; 
two sisters, Sally Sigley and Theresa Wornkey; a granddaughter, Tamara 
(Apel) Green; a grandson, Jason Hoard; and two great grandsons, Chance 
Streit and Carlin Hill Jr.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 
2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 
to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March

James LeRoy Miller (Jim), 76, of Salina passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023.&nbsp;

Jim was born in Monrovia, California, on December 3, 1946 to John and Joan (Foreman) Miller. He was the second of five children and enjoyed spending quality time with each of his siblings. One of his favorite memories as a teenager was spending time at his grandparents’ with his cousins. Throughout his childhood the family moved around a lot and because of that, he attended 13 schools.&nbsp;

At an early age, Jim became a single father to his three children. Although it was not easy working long hours and caring for three children, he made sure they were well taken care of and loved.&nbsp;

Jim met the love of his life, Barbara (Pridey) Miller and married her on April 4, 1981. Together they raised their three children, Rebbecca, Kolene, and James.

Most of his adult life was spent as a Rainbo bread salesman, where he served as the union steward. He took pride in his career and enjoyed those whom he served.&nbsp;

Jim was a very active member of his church, serving in various roles. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. Jim spent many years serving at the Salina Rescue Mission and enjoyed counseling the men and heading the annual Christmas dinners. Family was very important to Jim, and he especially loved spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Jim was a kind man who was loved by all. He was full of wisdom and integrity. Jim held his faith very close to him and that could be seen by the way he lived life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Barb of almost 42 years; daughter, Rebbecca (Jimmie) Covert; son, James Miller; son-in-law, Donald Smith; grandchildren, Jonathan Covert, Justean (Galen) Ryman, Cody (Jessica) Covert, Dustin (Bre) Covert, Katherine Boutz, Amanda (Sam) Wasinger, Sierra Hollis, Tiffany (Richard) Miller; 9 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Skeeter Miller; siblings, John (Rosemary) Miller, Sherry (Larry) Cunningham, Patti Hysom; step siblings, Greg Crenshaw, and Cynthia Crenshaw; and many other extended family and friends.&nbsp;

Howard Milton Smith, 93, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Inman, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at The Cedars, McPherson.&nbsp;

Howard served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.&nbsp; He retired from the maintenance department at NCRA Refinery where he worked for 34 years.&nbsp; Prior to the refinery, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad.&nbsp;

Howard was born on March 2, 1930, in McPherson, KS, the son of Ray A. and Mildred Helen (Rump) Smith.&nbsp; He graduated from Inman High School in 1948.&nbsp;

 On February 11, 1951, Howard was united in marriage to Vivian Carol Briggs at the Andover Lutheran Church, Windom.&nbsp; Two children were born to this union, Perry and Norene.&nbsp; Howard and Vivian were married for 70 years prior to her passing on July 23, 2021.

He was a lifelong member of Andover Lutheran Church, Windom and associate member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Perry Smith (Krista) of Great Bend, KS; a daughter, Norene Kerschen (Daniel) of Garden Plain, KS; seven grandchildren, Emily Pauly (Ethan), Jon Kerschen (Emily), Rachel Schmidt (Jeffrey), Keith Kerschen, Kim Hay (Marshall), Kelsey Sciacca (Adam), and Mason Smith; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Survivors include her husband Steven R. Joann “Jo” Camarena&nbsp;passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 in Salina at the age of 92 years and 1 day. Joann was born on March 19, 1931 in Salina to Ercell and Edith (Wakefield) Colliver. 

She lived most of her life in Salina but also lived in Laramie, Wyoming for a short time.

Jo worked at Consolidated Printing for over 30 years. She was also a volunteer baseball coach for the Salina Parks and Recreation and a foster grandparent at Schilling Elementary.

Jo had a passion for music. From jazz, oldies, Tejano to blues, she loved it all.&nbsp; For many summers, she would be waiting at the beginning of the line to get into the River Festival to mark her place for the weekend.

Jo’s family was everything to her. She was married to the love of her life, Frank, for 63 years. From this marriage, six children were brought into the world,Susan (Karl) of Texas, David (Norma) of Salina, Sarah Jane (Robert) of Texas, Jimmy (Passed away in Michigan, June 2021), Roxan (Bert) of Salina, and John of Osage City. Jo and Frank also had seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Joshua of New York, Sarhan (Gonzalo) of Salina, Victoria of Salina, Angela of Florida, Rachel of Salina, Olivia of Hays, Emery of Osage City and Liam, Madison, both of Salina, and Birdie of Hays.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Jim Colliver, sons Robert and Jimmy Camarena, and beloved husband, Frank.

Visitation and Funeral will be held at Ryan Mortuary of Salina on Friday, March 24th, visitation at 1:00 and funeral at 2:00. We ask that attendees wear red in honor of our Red Bird.

John Edward Reese, 79, of Marquette passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Riverview Estates, Marquette, KS.   John was born November 30, 1943 in Wichita, KS to the late Frank and the late Laura (Roets) Reese.  

John was a high school and technical school graduate.  He worked as an electrical and computer technician.  John was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindsborg.

He is survived by his daughter Marsha Reese-Reynolds (Bill) of Solomon, KS; son Mark Reese (Julie) of Halstead, KS; sisters Pat Werth of Wichita, KS and Susan McCawley of Oregon; brother Frank Reese, Jr. of Lindsborg, KS; as well as seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been chosen.  A memorial mass will be held 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 at St. Bridget Of Sweden Catholic Church, 206 W. Swensson, Lindsborg, KS with Father Benjamin Shockey officiating. There will be a praying of the rosary beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Delbert passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 while in the company of family and friends at McPherson Center for Health. He had attained the age of 93 years old. Delbert was born in Wamego, Kansas on May 22, 1929, to Ruth (Berroth) and Matt Bohn. He was one of eight children, Charles, Jean, Bernice, Dave, Adella, Judy, and Larry.

Delbert attended school at Rural District 48 in Alma, Kansas and took his first job at Hoffinstein Construction. 

He was united in his first marriage to Ilene Glenn in 1948. They were blessed with four daughters; Cindy, Tina, Debbie, and Toni. Delbert was united in marriage to Maxine Wash on November 21, 1965. Maxine had two children, Carolyn and Kenneth. Delbert made his home in McPherson, Kansas with his wife Maxine and six children.

He was a lifelong professional truck driver for over 40 years. He drove for various companies including Otis Bryant Trucking, Don Linden Trucking, Ryan Reiff, and Farmland hauling freight, gasoline, propane, and ammonia. Delbert had an exemplary driving record totaling three million miles with no accidents. He had a great eye because he never missed anything lying on the side of the road. His sheds were always full of screwdrivers, tarp straps, wrenches, pliers, and more of the items he found during his time over the road. 

When he wasn’t driving a truck, he loved to spend time with his family and was an avid gardener. He was known for sharing his garden spoils and would deliver them to friends and family in the area. He also loved tractors, spending time at the VFW and Legion having dinner with friends, and feeding squirrels and birds in his backyard. 

Delbert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McPherson, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Maxine Bohn of the home; children Carolyn Shamet and Dean Henry of McPherson, KS, Kenneth Wash and wife Janice of Olathe, KS, Cindy Hertlein and husband Mike of Topeka, KS, Tina Hamilton and husband Brian of Salina, KS, Debbie Harman of Salina, KS, and Toni Thompson and husband Greg of Bastrop, TX; his siblings Adella Parks, McPherson, Judy Oppenlander, Wamego, Larry Bohn, Alma; close friend Mike Krehbiel, McPherson; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. On Sunday, March 19, 2023, Linda Padgett, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife,&nbsp;and friend, passed away at the age of 83. Linda was born on October 2, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, to Boyd and Phyliss Davis.

Linda graduated from high school in Southgate, California, and attended Compton College. 

Linda&nbsp;married Thomas Padgett and moved to Abilene, Kansas, to raise her children. 

After the kids were grown&nbsp;and started their own lives, Linda and Tom enjoyed several years living abroad in Germany and traveling throughout Europe before returning to Abilene.

After her return, Linda worked as a cook at Sterling&nbsp;House in Abilene and at St. Francis in Salina where the kids called her Grandma. She also worked at&nbsp;Green Ford and at Ron Holmes Insurance agency. After retirement, Linda enjoyed volunteering at&nbsp;Impact Sports and Fitness and the Abilene Memorial Hospital gift shop as well as the gift shop in Old Abilene Carousel.

Everywhere Linda worked, her coworkers fell in love with her. She was a sassy, quirky&nbsp;lady who did her job and always expected the same of those around her.

Linda enjoyed reading, attending arts and crafts festivals, visiting casinos, and watching football, but her&nbsp;favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. Whether it was wrestling, basketball, football, gymnastics, choir or band concerts, or a theater performance, if her children or grandchildren&nbsp;were participating, Linda was there.

She was the biggest Chiefs and KSU fan! If they were playing on TV, the world came to a stand still until the game was over. And boy, did she enjoy letting everyone know&nbsp;when the ref “got it wrong.” Game time was so much fun with Linda around, and we’re not sure what&nbsp;these teams will do without her here to cheer them on.

Linda is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Thomas, her children Mike (Trina) McCarty of&nbsp;Manhattan, KS, and Mary (Dennis) Van Dorn of McPherson, KS, a brother, Boyd (Lynn) Davis of&nbsp;California, two sisters, Bonney (Parker) Bence and Jeannie Morris, both of Washington, nieces and&nbsp;nephews, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

Linda Padgett was the best of us and would give her heart, the clothes off her back, and a room in her&nbsp;home to those who needed it. She will be missed by us all!

The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.&nbsp;&nbsp;

ELLSWORTH - Marilyn Jo Frevert was born July 7, 1936, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd B. and Emma (Dlouhy) Evans. She passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Villa Grace Nursing Home in Ellsworth, Kansas, at the age of 86.

Marilyn was raised in Holyrood, Kansas, and graduated from Holyrood High School in 1954. She then attended Fort Hays State College and received a two-year teaching certificate. 

On June 16, 1957, Marilyn was united in marriage to Benjamin Richard Frevert in Holyrood. They resided in Hays, Kansas City, and Topeka before moving to Wilson in 1967. Four children were born to their union, and Marilyn stayed home with them until all four were in school. 

She then returned to Fort Hays State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Marilyn taught at Dorrance Grade School for many years, then finished her career at Wilson Grade School. She loved teaching and loved her “kids,” taking a personal interest in them. She was a substitute teacher for several years after retirement.

Over the years, Marilyn was an active member of her church and community. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson where she had sung in the choir, belonged to Service Circle, and led the youth choir while her kids were growing up.

 Marilyn was a former member of Mother’s Club, planted and cared for the flower beds at the Lions Club Park for many years, and volunteered at the Wilson Senior Center. She performed with the Sweet Adeline’s Choir in Lyons and said it was the best thing she’d ever done for herself. After moving to Ellsworth, Marilyn attended the United Methodist Church with Daran.

Marilyn was a loving, supportive mother who was proud of her children and their accomplishments in life. One of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother. She rarely missed a birthday party or activity they were involved in. Her grandkids spent many happy hours playing at grandma’s house, enjoying fun and games upstairs, good food, and grandma’s orange lemonade. She was proud of them and happy to see them grow up, graduate from college, and find their soulmates.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Ben; parents, Lloyd and Emma; and sister Loretta Keyser.

Survivors include her children Ben Frevert, Jr. of Fayettville, NC, Daran Frevert of Ellsworth, Dori Pauls (Rick) of Divide, CO, and Stephanie Stoppel (Dave) of Wilson; six grandchildren, Ryan Stoppel (Randi) of Wilson, Zane Pauls (Tara) of Divide, CO, Emmie Pauls (Dale Clowe) of Fort McMurray, AB Canada, Kylie Keeley (Mitch) of La Crosse, Adrienne Roehl (Garret) of Dighton, and Jake Stoppel (Kamri) of Wilson; six great-grandchildren, Charlotte Pauls, Ronni and Ray Stoppel, Riley House and Dakota Clowe, and Lainey Keeley, with one on the way in August. Marilyn is also survived by her brother Loren Evans (Barbara) of Flower Mound, TX; brother-in-law Melvin Keyser (Lucy) of Wichita; several nephews and nieces and their families, in addition to other relatives and friends.

Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with family present 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Ellsworth First United Methodist Church with burial following at the Wilson City Cemetery.

HILLSBORO&nbsp; - Norman W. Winter, 72, passed away March 21, 2023, rural Hillsboro. &nbsp;He was born November 6, 1950 in Hillsboro to Carl and Norma (Wangerin) Winter. &nbsp;

He married Gloria Modeland August 18, 1973, in Alva, Oklahoma. &nbsp;

Survivors include wife, Gloria Winter of Hillsboro; son Scott (Michelle) Winter of Hillsboro; daughter Kim (Brandon) Kysar of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Jean Winter of Hillsboro; six grandchildren. &nbsp;

Predeceased by his brother Warren Winter in 2007. &nbsp;

She was born on July 4, 1946 in Clay Center, Kansas to Floyd Chester and Vivian May (Taylor) Tinkham.She grew up in Washington, Kansas and attended Washington schools. She went on to attend Kansas State University until she wed her high school sweetheart, Duane Leroy Peters. They were married&nbsp;in Washington at the First United Methodist Church on April 17, 1965. This union brought two children, Steven Michael&nbsp;and Amy Sue.Susan's life was a true testament to her character and upbringing, and spent her lifetime caring for family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;Susan cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She instilled in her family that the simple things in life will always bring you joy that will last beyond a lifetime. She taught them the art of making a house a home, the magic of finding pictures in the clouds, the beauty in every rock, the healing powers of music, and the simple comfort of a good cup of coffee. Friends and family always knew the door was open and to come on in.Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
