Carol Ann (Werries) Weatherd, 82, died on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Minneapolis Health and Rehab.

Carol was born in Ottawa County on June 29, 1941, in the family home to parents August F.M. Werries and Elnora 'Nora' Agnes (Hansen) Werries. As a girl growing up, she attended Tescott schools and graduated from Tescott High School.

She was married to Tom Weatherd on June 21, 1959. From this marriage Carol and Tom were blessed with three sons, Greg (Krista) Weatherd, Curt Weatherd (deceased 1978) and Todd (Tisha) Weatherd.

Carol was passionate about her work as an Avon representative, which she did for 46 years. For Carol, Avon was about seeing her friends more than selling products.

Following the unexpected death of their middle son Curt, Tom and Carol helped open a chapter of The Compassionate Friends, which they helped lead for 40 years. This group was an integral part of their healing and is responsible for helping many parents, siblings and children heal through the grieving process.

Carol was a true partner with Tom serving on the Tescott Lion's Club. Both Tom & Carol helped with many local projects, fundraisers and Lions trips. Many lifelong friends were developed through their connection to the Tescott Lion's Club.

Carol & Tom were married for 64 years, and they were lifetime members at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Curtis Alan, siblings Eleanor Reichley, Grace Altman, Shirley Berkley, and Darrell Werries.

Carol is survived by her husband Tom and her sons Greg (Krista) and Todd (Tisha), 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 12, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tescott, Kansas. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery in Tescott, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, September 11 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Tescott Lion's Club or St. Paul's Lutheran Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
