Deidre Margaret Rosario, 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 4th, 2023.

Deidre was born in Queens, New York on July 10, 1955, a daughter of Joy Carlene (Clark) and Thomas John Kilbride.

She served in the United States Air Force from August 1985 to November 1985.

On February 9, 1993, Deidre married Andres Rosario, Jr. in New York.

Survivors include her husband, Andres of the home; son, Andres Rosario III, (Odalis) of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Yudalis, Amanda, Stephan; four great-grandchildren, Mia, Amor, Rose, and Elvis.

Deidre is also survived by three sisters, Jolene Larson (Robert) of McPherson, Kansas, Denise Petrie (Dan) of Long Island, New York, Reene Edelman (Larry) of upstate New York, and brothers, Thomas Kilbride of McPherson, Kansas, Barry Kilbride (Terri), of Burton, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bryan Kilbride.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory in Salina, Kansas with Gary Hickey officiating.

Jody was born in Salina, Kansas on September 26, 1949, a daughter of Peggy Gean (Herman) and Joseph Henry Duay.

Survivors include three daughters, Carla Funk, (Alan) of Culver, Kansas, Leasa Mayhugh (David), of Salina, Kansas, Cindy Mayhugh (Greg), of Delphos, Kansas; two sons, Curtiss Mayhugh, of Salina, Kansas, Joseph Knerr, of Olathe, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Jody is also survived by one sister; two brothers; and ex-husband, Kenneth Knerr.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jerry Utley.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27th, 2023 at Gypsum Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Friendship Center, 746 Comanche Ave., Salina.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Lehman; stepdaughters, Melinda Capriotti (John) of New Jersey and Michelle Walker (Mike) of Norman, Oklahoma; and many grandchildren.

Other survivors include her nieces, Jennifer Hopkins, of Wichita, Kansas, Julie Banks, of Newton, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Judy Hammon.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Duane Cain.

Kirk graduated from Gridley High School, and was an over the road semi-truck driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Junior Ray and Deloris (Bilbao) Hammons.

His memories will be forever cherished by his wife Susie Scott of Mankato, daughters Tricia, Lisa, Kristen, and Kaci, grandchildren Bo Ray, Katie, Charlie and Carter. Delena E. (Dee) Houser, 80, died April 5, 2023 at Village Manor Nursing Home in Abilene. She was born June 20, 1942 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Della L. Putnam and Vinnal W. Putnam.

 On August 1, 1958 she married James (Jim) Houser and lived a couple of years in Abilene, the moved to Solomon and lived the rest of their life in the Solomon community. 

She enjoyed camping, yard work, decorating for holidays, and working on their house. 

She started out doing waitress work at Union 76 Truck Stop, Tony’s Pizza and Deli work at West Country Mart in Abilene. She put in over 10 ½ years at each job. 

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Houser and Gilbert Houser, both of Salina, KS; two daughters, Julie Houser South Sioux City, NE and Amy Madacs of Abilene, KS; two brothers, Harry Putnam of Bennington, KS and Merlin Putnam of Chicpoee, Massachusetts; sister, Lorene Putnam of Solomon KS; and 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, son Bobby Houser, sister Betty Vaughn, and brother Jackie Putnam. 

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2023 at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon.

Charlotte Ann (Miller) Burton, age 79, of Marion, Kansas, passed away on March 28, 2023.

Charlotte was born on March 4, 1944 to LeRoy and Roberta (Happy) Miller in Windom, Kansas. 

LeRoy died in 1958 from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Roberta remarried Cecil Slifer in 1960. After Cecil and Roberta’s marriage, they moved to Marion, Kansas with Charlotte.

A couple years later, Charlotte graduated from Marion High School in 1962 and moved to McPherson, Kansas for job opportunities.

Charlotte welcomed three daughters during her first marriage to Robert (Bob) Scheideman. Charlotte and Bob welcomed their first daughter, Julie Scheideman on November 15, 1964. Robin Scheideman was born a few years later on June 17, 1969. Their youngest daughter, Patsy Kline was born on December 8, 1973.

On January 23, 1976, Charlotte remarried the love of her life, William (Bill) Burton. Charlotte and Bill met while working together at the La Crosse Furniture Factory in La Crosse, Kansas. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Marion, Kansas. In the summer of 1982, Charlotte and Bill moved to Scio, Ohio to begin their careers of owning and operating a dairy farm.

When they arrived in Scio, Ohio, Charlotte and Bill made the decision to open their home for children in the foster care system. Charlotte wanted to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing home for any child in need. In 1988, Charlotte and Bill adopted their youngest children, Carol and Bobby Burton.

While living on the dairy farm, Charlotte enjoyed making fresh cheese and butter from the cream of the cows. Some of her other hobbies included leather crafting, oil painting, flower arrangements, and cake decorating.

In 1990, Charlotte and Bill made the decision to leave the dairy farm and move back to Marion, Kansas. The two continued to foster children upon arriving in Kansas. 

During this time, Charlotte worked for Kit Mobile Homes until 1992. After leaving Kit Mobile Homes, Charlotte continued her working career at Norcraft Cabinets in Newton, Kansas. Charlotte worked for Norcraft for twenty-eight years, where she eventually retired in 2020. Charlotte took passion in her work and gained many strong relationships with her coworkers. To Charlotte, these were not just her coworkers, but also her family.

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed spending time with friends and family, making homemade soap, canning vegetables, planting flowers, collecting cookbooks, collecting Christmas villages, and going on drives with Bill.

Charlotte was loving, nurturing, supportive, and caring to all.

Charlotte is preceded in death by LeRoy Miller (father), Roberta (Happy) Slifer (mother), Cecil Slifer (stepfather), and Robin Scheideman (daughter).

Charlotte is survived by William (Bill) Burton (husband), Julie Scheideman (daughter), Patsy and Mike Kline (daughter and son-in-law), Carol Benavidez (daughter), Bobby and Crystal Burton (son and daughter-in-law), stepchildren Kim and Artie Herrman, Randy and Cindy Burton, and Rusty and Tonya Burton. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and foster children also survive Charlotte.

MARION Norman’s life began on July 2, 1935, in Richland, MO.&nbsp; He is the son of Robert N. and Shirley E. (Oxford) Craft.&nbsp;

Norman is a graduate of Latham High School and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; 

He worked as a manufacturer’s representative for many years selling agricultural chemicals.&nbsp; Norman served his country during the Korean War era in the United States Navy, seeing some duty on the USS Saratoga.&nbsp; 

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #401 in Latham, KS, and had been a member of the Hillsboro Lions Club.&nbsp; Surpassing what he learned or worked at or served as, was Norman’s acknowledgment of his salvation through Jesus Christ. &nbsp;

His loving family includes his son Steven (Valentina) Craft of Park Falls, WI; daughter in law Jan Craft of Marion; grandchildren Shaun Craft, Aaron (Caitlin) Craft, Adam Craft, Andrew (Akanksha) Craft, and Anthony (Elizabeth) Craft; and great-grandchildren Iliana, Gannon, Colt, Steven, Noah, Thomas, Cole, Natalie, and Leo.&nbsp; 

Norman was received into the arms of his Savior on April 3, 2023, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.&nbsp; 

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce Craft, son Rob Craft, and granddaughter-in-law Jenny Craft.&nbsp;

Robin Lynn (Nicewander) Macy was born November 6, 1958, in Clay Center, Kansas, the second of two children born to Ralph Nicewander and Leola Stites Nicewander. She died on April 4, 2023

She attended Clay Center schools, graduating from Clay Center Community High School in 1977. 

During high school, Robin started working at age 14 as a waitress at The Jiffy Inn in Clay Center, then worked in various jobs as a retail salesclerk. In later years she worked in office jobs.

Robin was married to John Macy of Augusta, Kansas on November 27, 1982, at the Clay Center Wesleyan Church. They briefly lived in rural Augusta for about 18 months, then moved to the farm that John had purchased before their marriage in rural Miltonvale, KS where they had made their home for the past 39 years.

John and Robin were blessed with two children, Nicole Eilene in 1984 and Nathaniel Wesley in 1988.

Robin devoted her life to her home and family. She was a meticulous keeper of the home. She had a strong artistic bent, both in and around the house with the seasonal decorating and landscaping. She was a quiet extrovert who enjoyed being around people. Throughout her illness, she saw the medical care givers, particularly at the Tammy Walker Cancer, as well as other patients, as her ministry.

She saw this as her opportunity to impact others with the love of Christ, seeing this as part of God's sovereign design in her own battle with cancer.

She was a devoted member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church.

Robin was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Nicewander.

She is survived by her husband, John Macy of Miltonvale, Kansas; daughter, Nicole Macy of Balynure County Antrim, Northern Ireland; son, Nathaniel Macy of Clay Center, Kansas; grandson, Elijah; granddaughter, Audra; mother, Leola Nicewander of Clay Center, Kansas; brother, Edward Nicewander of Hutchinson, Kansas and lifelong dear friend, Vickie Coover of Barnard, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, KS.

Reta B. Knitter, 85, of Clay Center died on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Stormont-Vail Health Flint Hills Campus in Junction City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on February 5, 1938, the daughter of Joseph and Verda (Nemnich) Trudell, in Morganville, Kansas.

Reta grew up in Morganville, graduating from Morganville High School in 1956.&nbsp; 

On June 2, 1957, she married Ross Knitter and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2007.&nbsp; 

Reta worked as a secretary for E.E. Cyr in Morganville.&nbsp; She then worked for USD 379 as a secretary for the Wakefield Schools before moving to the USD 379 Board office, where she was a secretary for 42 years.&nbsp; 

Reta had tremendous strength and fought hard, even up to the day of her passing.&nbsp; She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church, Clay Center Country Club and the Bridge Club.&nbsp; 

Reta is also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joan Germann.

She is survived by her son, Kevin and his wife Carol Knitter of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Karmen Holt of Junction City, Kansas; five grandchildren, Joseph (Lauren) Knitter, Crystal (Aaron) Barnes, Wendi Holt, Jacob (Maggie) Knitter and John (Naomi) Knitter and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Clay Center United Methodist Church.

Kenneth V. Naysmith, the son of Victor Vernon Naysmith and Hazel Lucille (Clark) Naysmith Hoops, was born August 8, 1942 in Belleville, Kansas and passed away on March 29, 2023 at Credo Senior Living, Belleville, KS at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 21 days.

Kenneth grew up in the Byron and Chester area, attending the local country schools and later graduating from Chester High School in 1959.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Following his graduation, he was engaged in farming and agriculture in Byron, NE for most of his life.

On August 7, 1966, he was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Young and to this union two children were born, Jeffrey and Jill.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The couple made their home in rural Byron, NE on the farm, moving to Belleville, KS 20 years ago.

Kenneth also sold crop insurance and did computer repair.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a licensed pilot, flying for pleasure and also did aerial infrared photography of crops in the area for farmers.

Kenneth was a member of the Chester United Methodist Church, former member of the Byron Lions Club and the High Banks Hall of Fame Museum, and the Belleville Flyers Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He also was a member of the Kansas Sons of American Revolution, Bennington Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, V. Vernon Naysmith and Hazel Naysmith Hoops;&nbsp; brother, Willis Naysmith; sister, Alene Smoot; brother-in-law, Robert Hayes; and stepfather Edwin Hoops.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Naysmith of Belleville, KS;&nbsp;One son, Jeffrey (Angie) Naysmith of Newton, KS;&nbsp; one daughter Jill (Jim) Persinger of Toronto, Ontario-Canada;&nbsp; three grandchildren,&nbsp; Kailey (Tanner) Duerksen of Newton, KS, Jensen Persinger of Lawrence, Kansas and Campbell Persinger of Ft. Collins, CO;&nbsp; one sister, Norma Hayes of Winter Springs, FL; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the United Methodist Church, Chester, NE with Pastor Brian Faust, officiating.

Interment will be at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Dr. Ali Bülent Manguoglu, 69, of Salina, KS passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his daughters and wife on April 4th, 2023, with the support of Gentiva Hospice. Dr. Manguoglu was born in Izmir, Turkey on May 12th, 1953.

He graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey in 1976, and then attended Ankara University School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey, Dept. of General Surgery as a 1st year resident. Ali’s journey in the United States started at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts, Dept. of General Surgery, then onto the University of Kansas School of Medicine, KC, KS, Dept. of Neurological Surgery (rock chalk!) for his Neurosurgery Residency. Ali then ventured to the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, Dept. of Neurosurgery, Registrar/Fellow, and finally the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland, SHOCK-TRAUMA Unit, Neurotrauma Fellowship. &nbsp;

Dr. Manguoglu’s board certifications include the American Board of Neurological Surgery and Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, UK in Surgical Neurology (SN.) Ali established “Salina Neurological Surgery” practice in 1985, and then established (with Salina Regional Health Center) “Salina Regional Neurosurgery.” He retired in 2019 due to health conditions. He proudly served Salina and surrounding communities for nearly 35 years. &nbsp;

Not only was Dr. Manguoglu a world-renowned neurosurgeon, but lived each day to the fullest, as if it were his last – travelling the world with his family and creating an endless book of stories. His favorite hobbies included listening and dancing to music, cooking, skiing, gardening, and rescuing animals.

Unfortunately, Dr. Ali B. Manguoglu lost his battle with terminal cancer and Parkinson’s disease after he fought hard to continue normalcy and create as many memories as he could in his final year, such as visiting his daughters and grandchildren, taking a final trip to Turkey and a memorable weekend in Kansas City at Tasso’s and Arthur Bryant’s.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Manguoglu, daughters Ayse Heisdorf and Safiye Williams, their husbands John Heisdorf and Mark Williams, and stepdaughter Heather Jones. Ali is also survived by his grandchildren Kai and Koa Williams and Ayla Heisdorf, as well as brothers Enis and Turgut Manguoglu. 

Ali was preceded in death by his stepson Steven Jones, and parents Fetih Manguoglu and Ahter Alkum.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 7th at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8th at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s research, care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth Street, Salina Kansas.

SALINA -&nbsp;Luetta B. Harrell, 93, passed away April 1, 2023 while under hospice care at Presbyterian Manor. Luetta was born May 15, 1929, in Ellis, Kansas, the seventh of ten children belonging to Walter and Eva (Sauer) Haneke. 

Luetta graduated from Ellis High School in 1946 and went on to marry George Harrell of Barnard, Kansas on February 22nd, 1948. They were married fifty-one years and spent most of their married lives in Salina. 

Luetta began her career as a receptionist at Waddell &amp; Reed and worked her way up to Financial Advisor where she helped a multitude of people manage their finances for over 30 years.

Luetta was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and was active in the Ladies Elks Club of Salina. As a first generation American, she enjoyed cooking Austrian recipes her mother, Eva, brought with her when she immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island.

Luetta was preceded in death by her husband George Harrell in 1999; three sisters, and four brothers. 

She is survived by her daughter Joleen Stein (Steve) of Gypsum; grandchildren Melynda McCabe (Chris) and Thomas Stein (Elane); great-grandchildren Jack, Jace, Addie, Ellyanna; granddaughters Bailey Harrell, Madison Harrell; son Mike Harrell; and siblings Donna Henderson and Don Haneke.

2023, at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Lois was born on August 7, 1954, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, to Milo and Norma (Stevens) Gitchel.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents Milo and Norma, brothers Allan and Elbert Gitchel, and sister Kathy Willis.

Survivors include her husband Larry Haas of Phillipsburg, daughters
