The Southeast of Saline Trojan baseball team continued to roll this week with two more victories of 3-1 and 3-2 against the Minneapolis Lions.
It’s no secret that SES has not been challenged much this season, but coming in at 8-2, Minneapolis promised to provide just that and did not disappoint in a thrilling doubleheader on Tuesday.
Game one provided a low scoring affair that saw the Trojans and Lions trade runs in the middle innings before SES tacked on two in the fifth and held that lead to win 3-1.
Eli Harris looked like an ace on the bump for SES, completing his seven inning effort with seven strikeouts and no walks.
The Trojans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two, and added an insurance run in the fourth before Minneapolis got on the board with a run of their own in the fifth.
The Lions struck for one more in their last at bats, but still fell short to SES, who took the game two victory by a final score of 3-2.
In that pitchers duel, the Trojans once again got top notch work out of Evan Nickelson and Bryant Banks, who struck out nine and allowed just two runs on seven hits in seven complete innings.
With another doubleheader sweep, the Trojans advance to 13-1 on the year while Minneapolis falls to 8-4.
SES will be back in action on Friday when the team travels to Chapman for two games with the Fighting Irish.
