Kan. deputies found pedestrian in critical condition on rural road

COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run crash.

Just after 8p.m. Feb. 5,  Cowley County Emergency Communications dispatched Arkansas City Fire/EMS to a critically injured pedestrian found laying in a ditch in the 31,000 block of 61st Road, according to Cowley County Sheriff Dave Faletti.

 Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area when it was reported that the individual may have been struck by a vehicle. Deputies found vehicle debris and a cell phone on the ground near victim.

Arkansas City Fire/EMS transported the victim to South Central Kansas Medical Center and later Eagle Med transferred the victim to St Francis in Wichita, according to Faletti.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Kevin Horinek checked the area for a vehicle with damage matching the debris and made contact with 49-year-old Brady Pudden, driver of a white Ford F250 with damage to the passenger side of the pickup.

Deputies arrested Pudden on requested charges that included duty of driver involving great bodily harm, Suspended license and expired tag. He is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
