Kansas home a total loss after fire

MCPHERSON —Authorities are working to determine the cause of a house fire in McPherson.

Just after 11:30a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a house fire in the 1400 block of Briarwood Lane, according to a media release.

Fire crews encountered heavy fire involvement from a two-car garage attached to the home. Fire crews worked to extinguish the fire in the garage while also extinguishing flames that had spread to the exterior wall of the neighboring house to the north. Fire crews made entry into the house to conduct a search for occupants and extinguish the fire. Crews were able to confirm that the occupants of both residences involved were not at home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported. The damage to the house is extensive and will be considered a total loss. T

The Galva and Inman Fire Departments responded to the scene to assist with extinguishment of the fire. McPherson EMS, McPherson Police Department, and McPherson County Emergency Management provided resources and support at the scene as well. Fire crews cleared from the scene shortly after 3 p.m. No foul play is suspected.
