Joyce June Hall, 84, of Moore, OK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at McPherson Health &amp; Rehab in McPherson, KS.

She worked as a purchasing manager at Vista Chemical in Oklahoma City, OK.

Joyce was born on March 15, 1939, in Lindsey, OK, the daughter of Clifton Hampton Blakley and Marjorie (Paxton) Blakley. 

On December 8, 1966, Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald Stuart Hall in Oklahoma.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 16, 2015.

Survivors include daughters Marcie Cottrell (Chris) of McPherson, KS and Sherry Hall of Effingham, IL, six grandchildren, Taylor Cup of Tecumseh, OK and his daughter Reagan Renee Cup; Kyle Cottrell of McPherson, KS; Linda L. Green (Matt) of McPherson, KS and their children Camaro and Chevelle Green; Rochelle Watson (Sank) of Tacoma, WA and their children Leona Charlotte, Sadie Bradley, and Josias Christian Watson; Damon Gillett of Effingham, IL and his son Phoenix Gillett; Corey Gillett of Vandalia, IL and his children Erica, Makenzie, Haley, and Ryker Gillett; cousins Nona Beth Silvia Berkey and Ronny Gifford; and many other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother Sorrows;&nbsp;and daughter Rhonda Payne.

A graveside service will be held at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, OK, at a later date.

Ronald Gene Cunningham, 80, formerly of McPherson, KS, Ellinwood, KS, and Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; 

He was an agronomist, working at Ohio State University and Kansas State University in the agriculture department.&nbsp; He retired from the Army National Guard.

Ron was born on August 5, 1942, in Winfield, KS, the son of Kedric Bogue and Virginia Nadine (Barnes) Cunningham.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1960 and continued his education at Kansas State University.&nbsp;

He was a member of the American Legion and was also a Boy Scout leader.

On September 16, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Mary Jo Hirsch in Ellinwood.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on January 30, 2022.

Survivors include three sisters, Karen Base (Jonas) of McPherson, KS, Linda Gardner (William) of Ashland, OH, and Vicky Polreis (Gerald) of Nickerson, KS.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother John Cunningham.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, KS.&nbsp;

Stephanie Jo Sitlington, 37, of Ottawa, KS passed away Sunday, April 
23, 2023, at Advent Health in Ottawa, KS.&nbsp; She was born June 3, 1985, in 
Ottawa, KS the daughter of Gary and Melinda (Burgoon) Sitlington. 
Stephanie grew up and attended schools in Ottawa and Pomona, KS.&nbsp;

Stephanie worked for All Saints Home Care in Ottawa, KS and later, 
was a homemaker who took care of her Son and Mother.&nbsp; She enjoyed 
collecting dolphins and listening to country music.&nbsp; She will be 
remembered for always loving her family and her willingness to always 
lend a hand to family and friends.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, Jason Dyche and son, Gary Sitlington 
III of the home; her mother, Melinda Burgoon of Ottawa, KS; four 
sisters, Samantha (Mickey) Owens of Richmond, KS, Betty (Michael) 
Richard of Carson City, NV, Tammy Sitlington of Topeka, KS and Milissa 
Sitlington of Lansing, KS; four brothers, Jacob Burgoon of Westwood, KS,
 Donovan Sitlington of Garnett, KS, Travis (Katie) Schultz of Lee’s 
Summit, MO and Levi Sitlington of Salina, KS; and many nieces and 
nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Sitlington and a brother, Gary Sitlington II.

Cremation is planned. A private family visitation will be held at the

Debra attended McPherson grade schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1972. She attended Fort Hays State University where she graduated with a bachelor of science and business. She then attended and graduated from Emporia State College with a master of science. She worked at SRS in Great Bend, KS as a records keeper. Debra enjoyed her church, teaching Sunday school, her pets, lunch with her friends, movies and spending time with her friends and family. Marcella Mae "Sally" (Hoffman) Flax, 88 of Ellis. Kansas passed away April 24, 2023, at Trego County Lemke&nbsp;LTC in Wakeeney.

Sally
 was born on April 17, 1935, in Odin, KS to Michael and Margaret (Feltis) 
Hoffman. She attended Great Bend High School and graduated in 1953. 
Sally met the love of her life, Paul Flax, at her cousin’s wedding. They
 were married on August 24, 1954, in Great Bend. The following August 
they welcomed a son, Jerome, and the following fall, a daughter, Julia. 
Having to move many times with the railroad, Sally and Paul always 
returned to Ellis, calling it home. They were married for 53 years 
before Paul's passing in 2007.

Sally was always ready 
to take a vacation or bus trip with an occasional stop at the casinos. 
Her travels allowed her to see much of the United States and some 
European countries. She enjoyed morning coffee with the ladies, playing 
bingo, bridge or pinochle with family and friends. But one of her 
greatest joys was being with her grandchildren.

She was a member of St Mary's Church and the D of I in Ellis.

She
 is preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; Son, Jerome; sisters
 Mercedes Huslig (Arthur), Anna Koester (Joseph,) Dolores Schneweis 
(Bernard) and Sister Mary Lawrence.

She is survived by a
 daughter Julia Hillman, WaKeeney; six grandchildren, Angela Flax (Geoff
 Martin) Olathe;&nbsp;Dustin Mattheyer (Mara) Ellis; Audrey Bates (Noel) 
Ellis; Mathew Flax (Amanda Armstrong) Salina; Jessica Cooper (Bryan) 
Topeka; and Preston Mattheyer (Jamie) WaKeeney; fifteen great 
grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Services
 will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic 
Church, Ellis, Kansas.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at 
the church, with a rosary at 10:30.&nbsp;

Larry F. Bills, 78, of Palestine, IL, passed away on April 20, 
2023, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. Born on July 31, 1944, in 
Salinas, CA, he was the son of Laurence E. &amp; Iona J. (Durham) Bills,
 both of whom preceded him in death. He married Susan (Caraway) on July 
14, 2001, and sadly, Susan passed away on March 15, 2016, leaving an 
indelible impression on Larry's heart. 

Larry's legacy continues with his
 deeply loved and cherished children - Kim &amp; her husband Kenny Koch 
(Camdenton, MO), Brian Bills (Kansas City, KS) &amp; his significant 
other Jessica, Laura &amp; her husband Tony Osborn (Robinson, IL), and 
David &amp; his wife Daphne Conour (Stoughton, WI). Larry's family 
expanded exponentially with numerous adoring grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren. They, as well as his brother, Richard Bills (Platte
 City, MO), survive, as does a host of extended family members.

Larry
 grew up in Salina, KS, where he graduated from high school in 1962. 
Larry continued his education at Kansas State University and shortly 
thereafter began an eclectic and impressive career that took many forms.
 Through the years, Larry's titles included deputy sheriff, construction
 diesel mechanic, carbide grinder, railroad brakeman, and licensed 
realtor. He was even a mechanical and electrical design engineer, 
helping develop conveyors for the big three automakers. Larry's 
exceptional intelligence and keen problem-solving skills led him to his 
final career move as a systems analyst and administrator for Verizon in 
Tulsa, OK, where he ultimately retired.

Just as he 
engaged in a wide range of work, he also pursued a wide range of 
interests and passions. Among them were racing (a young Larry raced his 
own sprint car for years), building and flying radio-controlled 
airplanes, cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, fishing, and 
studying history. Anyone who knew him recognized that Larry held a 
particular fascination for weather-related phenomena. In a testament to 
his dedication to weather forecasting, he recently collaborated with the
 National Weather Service, which installed an antenna in his backyard. 
This partnership allowed him to upload real-time weather data to their 
systems, contributing to essential monitoring and alert services for his
 community. Larry's engagement with the world didn't end with his 
hobbies. A longtime Shriner, he dedicated many hours to philanthropy and
 community service. Additionally, he held a membership with the Masonic 
Lodge in Overland Park, KS.

Larry's spiritual 
transformation began later in life, and it's clear that his path toward 
faith was nothing short of extraordinary. While he couldn't be dragged 
into church for most of his 78 years, the Holy Spirit used both his 
experiences and time to finally lead him to the doors of the Outer West 
Market Church of Christ in Palestine. He joined the church on October 
31, 2021, and was baptized just months later, on February 27, 2022. As 
Larry's faith grew deeper, so did his capacity to express love to those 
around him. His earlier days may have been characterized by some 
emotional reserve, but the twilight of his life was marked by an 
openness and warmth that was as inspiring as it was touching. Larry's 
newfound relationship with Jesus led him to attend church faithfully, 
even as his health declined. In his final days, it was with great joy 
that Larry found refuge in the arms of his Savior, a faithful and loving
 Shepherd who guided him through every valley in his life.

His
 passing brings with it the powerful testimony of a life touched by 
grace and redeemed by faith, a testament that will live on in the hearts
 and minds of all those who had the privilege to know him. We who are 
left behind grieve our own loss, but not as those without hope. After 
all, we can be thankful for the priceless gift of knowing and loving 
Larry Bills, a man who truly exemplified wisdom, passion, and faith. We 
are confident that, as he walks in the Kingdom of Heaven, his life 
continues as a testament to the transformative power of Jesus Christ.

It
 was Larry's wish to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in 
Robinson is in charge of these arrangements. In his memory, memorial

 grew up in Salina, KS, where he graduated from high school in 1962. 
Larry continued his education at Kansas State University and shortly 
thereafter began an eclectic and impressive career that took many forms.
 Through the years, Larry's titles included deputy sheriff, construction
 diesel mechanic, carbide grinder, railroad brakeman, and licensed 
realtor. He was even a mechanical and electrical design engineer, 
helping develop conveyors for the big three automakers. Larry's 
exceptional intelligence and keen problem-solving skills led him to his 
final career move as a systems analyst and administrator for Verizon in 
Tulsa, OK, where he ultimately retired.Just as he 
engaged in a wide range of work, he also pursued a wide range of 
interests and passions. Among them were racing (a young Larry raced his 
own sprint car for years), building and flying radio-controlled 
airplanes, cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, fishing, and 
studying history. Anyone who knew him recognized that Larry held a 
particular fascination for weather-related phenomena. In a testament to 
his dedication to weather forecasting, he recently collaborated with the
 National Weather Service, which installed an antenna in his backyard. 
This partnership allowed him to upload real-time weather data to their 
systems, contributing to essential monitoring and alert services for his
 community. Larry's engagement with the world didn't end with his 
hobbies. A longtime Shriner, he dedicated many hours to philanthropy and
 community service. Additionally, he held a membership with the Masonic 
Lodge in Overland Park, KS.Larry's spiritual 
transformation began later in life, and it's clear that his path toward 
faith was nothing short of extraordinary. While he couldn't be dragged 
into church for most of his 78 years, the Holy Spirit used both his 
experiences and time to finally lead him to the doors of the Outer West 
Market Church of Christ in Palestine. He joined the church on October 
31, 2021, and was baptized just months later, on February 27, 2022. As 
Larry's faith grew deeper, so did his capacity to express love to those 
around him. His earlier days may have been characterized by some 
emotional reserve, but the twilight of his life was marked by an 
openness and warmth that was as inspiring as it was touching. Larry's 
newfound relationship with Jesus led him to attend church faithfully, 
even as his health declined. In his final days, it was with great joy 
that Larry found refuge in the arms of his Savior, a faithful and loving
 Shepherd who guided him through every valley in his life.His
 passing brings with it the powerful testimony of a life touched by 
grace and redeemed by faith, a testament that will live on in the hearts
 and minds of all those who had the privilege to know him. We who are 
left behind grieve our own loss, but not as those without hope. After 
all, we can be thankful for the priceless gift of knowing and loving 
Larry Bills, a man who truly exemplified wisdom, passion, and faith. We 
are confident that, as he walks in the Kingdom of Heaven, his life 
continues as a testament to the transformative power of Jesus Christ."As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied when I awake, with thy likeness." - Psalm 17:15It
 was Larry's wish to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in 
Robinson is in charge of these arrangements. In his memory, memorial

Robert W. "Robb" Mitchell, 50, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. He was born March 17, 1973, in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Robert Dean and Janice Lynn (Carlock) Mitchell.

Robb graduated from Zion Benton High School in Zion, Illinois and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas. He was employed as a criminal court clerk by the Shawnee County District Court.

Survivors include his domestic partner of 12 years, Douglas Jones of Topeka, KS; sister Kimber (Royal) Mellinger of McPherson, KS; and nine nieces and nephews, Doralynn, Nickolai, Tyler, Gavin, Tommie, Hailee, Luke, Tzeitel and Josh; his aunt and uncle that were like second parents to Robb, Joyce and Bill Stein of Illinois; and other family members and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held in Topeka and announced as soon as possible. A second memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut St., McPherson.

Private inurnment will take place in McPherson Cemetery at a later date.

Doug grew up in the Clifton community and was a graduate of Clifton High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He farmed with his father before taking over the family farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Doug married Maureen Grant on April 11, 1969.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Clay Center and Gideon’s International.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Tage Toll.

Kari B. McCall, age 86, entered into rest on Saturday April 22, 2023, at Marquis Place, Concordia, Kansas. She was born on November 9, 1936, in Scandia, Kansas to Carl E. and Alice E. (Morse) Norgard. &nbsp;Kari grew up on the family farm outside of Scandia, helping her father and brother with chores.

Kari was a 1954 graduate of Scandia High School, Scandia, Kansas. 

She married the love of her life, Albert M. McCall, on June 4, 1954, at the Scandia Lutheran Church in Scandia, Kansas. They were happily married for 68 years. &nbsp;To this union three children were born, Greg, Randy, and Jeff.

Kari enjoyed taking trips with family and friends, playing bingo, bowling, and going to casinos with friends. &nbsp;She loved her family and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s band and dance performances and sporting activities.&nbsp;

She was a homemaker while her children were young and then worked for 20 years at MC Industries in Belleville, Kansas when her children were older.

Kari is survived by her sons Greg McCall (Cindy), Overland Park, Kansas; Randy McCall (Christine), Lawrence, Kansas; Jeff McCall (Stormy), Twin Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, Zach McCall, Junu McCall, Matthew McCall, Bethanie Cedeño-McCall (Joseph), Madison McCall; sister-in-law Doris McCall, New Cambria, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Alice, her husband Albert McCall, and her brother Carl Norgard.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery, Scandia, KS.

Survived by five children: two sons, Michael Brickei (Daisy) and Joseph Hall; three daughters, Charlene Ritter (Mike), Melissa Hall, and Janie Hall; two sisters, Olga Dulaney and Mary McNeece; brother Johnny Longoria; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other extended family, and her ex-husband Michael Hall. Virginia loved her family and was a devoted caregiver to many, even those outside of her biological family. She was a second Mom or Grandma in many lives she touched. She often would put her needs last to provide for those she loved. She was a remarkably strong woman despite many struggles she endured throughout her lifetime. She was a great model of strength, strong-will, and determination to her daughters and others. She had been a dedicated and hard-worker all of her life, always punctual and taking pride in everything she did. She filled many roles while also being a full-time mom which included being a cook, dietary aide, and produce clerk. Virginia grew up playing softball and later bowled in leagues. She was beyond social and never met a stranger. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved to play bingo with her best friend Mary Breeden, go to dinners with friends, watch older shows, listen to music, complete word searches, put puzzles together, and play solitaire. She is greatly loved and missed. There was no one quite like Our Momma.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Melba Jacqueline “Jackie” Shirley was born December 5, 1931, in Hartsfield, Georgia, the daughter of Hughie and Argie Rozell (Green) Gay. 

She was married to John Truman Hatcher in Boston, Georgia. She moved to Wichita with her children in 1960. 

She married Eugene Ray Shirley on December 19, 1966, in Salina. The family moved to Chapman in January 1970. Jackie passed away of natural causes on Friday, April 21, in Auburn, Kansas at the age of 91. Survivors include her children John T. Hatcher, Jr. of Topeka, Myrtice Jacqueline Audiss of Enterprise, Alabama, Dianne Lovey Tweedy of Salina, Marion Aridane Parker of Leavenworth, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene on May 31, 2003, daughter Lily Rozell Doviak, son Smith Taylor Hatcher, sister Ruth Tooman, and three brothers, Wayne Gay and Charles Gay, and Gerald Gay. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Chapman with Pastor Patrick Garlock officiating. As per Jackie’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

Matthew Dane Langdon, age 49, of Abilene, KS departed his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Matt is survived by his parents Doran and Charles "Chuck" Clemence, Abilene, KS and Michael (Mic) and Kris Langdon, Abilene, KS; his sister Angela "Angie" and Terry Reiff, Hope, KS; and stepbrother Matt Clemence of Solomon; his stepbrothers Todd Schmidt (Tammy), Manhattan, KS and Jamie (Staci) Schmidt, Queens Creek, AZ; and stepsister Alison (Mitch) Swargerty, of Glendale, AZ. He was proud of his nephews Rocque (Krista) Russell, Abilene, KS, Clayton Carson, Hope, Ks, his nieces Jenna (Dale) Cornelison, Philadelphia, PA and Katelyn Reiff, Manhattan, KS; his aunts and uncles and cousins and many friends. He also dearly loved his dogs Dixie and Duke.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Doris Larson, Marvin and Helen Langdon, Roy "Babe" Clemence and stepbrother Todd Clemence.

Matt loved farming and working with heavy equipment and could operate equipment "by the seat of his pants," smooth and steady. He was an accomplished welder and fabricator.

Matt had a huge gift of compassion, love and concern for others. He would tell you he has experienced many answered prayers and the saving grace of Jesus throughout his life.

Matt absolutely loved to entertain us with his unique sense of humor, always a smile and giggly laughter spilled from him which made each of us feel genuinely special and loved. He was an "old soul" reminiscing and admiring the past generations that worked so hard and gave their "all" for the freedoms we have. He loved history, his heritage and old country music.

Matt graduated from Abilene High School with the Class of 1992.

He was a loyal friend, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin.

He was proud of his nephews Rocque (Krista) Russell, Abilene, KS, Clayton Carson, Hope, Ks, his nieces Jenna (Dale) Cornelison, Philadelphia, PA and Katelyn Reiff, Manhattan, KS; his aunts and uncles and cousins and many friends. Matt loved farming and working with heavy equipment and could operate equipment "by the seat of his pants," smooth and steady. He was an accomplished welder and fabricator. Matt had a huge gift of compassion, love and concern for others. He would tell you he has experienced many answered prayers and the saving grace of Jesus throughout his life. Matt absolutely loved to entertain us with his unique sense of humor, always a smile and giggly laughter spilled from him which made each of us feel genuinely special and loved. He was an "old soul" reminiscing and admiring the past generations that worked so hard and gave their "all" for the freedoms we have. He loved history, his heritage and old country music. Matt graduated from Abilene High School with the Class of 1992. He was a loyal friend, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. Dean Burton Stelter passed away on April 23, 2023, in Salina, KS. He was 84.&nbsp;Dean was born on June 28, 1938, in Delphos, Kansas to Otis and Cleo (Giles) Stelter.&nbsp;

Dean was raised in Delphos and soon after high school he went into the Air Force as a mechanic. He was called back home to help his father with the farm a couple of years later.

In August of 1958 he married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Shirley Butcher. Together they had four children and moved to Seattle, WA&nbsp;in 1966. They both worked for Boeing for several years.

Dean married Shirley Kacson in 1968 and helped raise her son Mike Kacson. They moved back to Kansas to take over the family farm.&nbsp;

In 1996 Dean and Kathleen remarried in Seattle and moved back to Kansas.

Dean Stelter was very witty. He enjoyed teasing people and making them laugh. That is the way he wanted to be remembered.&nbsp;

Dean is survived by his sister Shirley Van Dame of Minneapolis, KS and his children Katrina Moore of Seattle, WA, Karla McInroy of Abilene, KS, and stepson Ken Wood of Kearney, MO, and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death is his wife Kathleen (2001), his sister Betty Sue Baker (2008), daughter Kaylinn Maillet (2022), and son David Stelter-Wood (2022).

It was Dean’s wish to be cremated and no services be held. He will be laid to rest in the Delphos Cemetery.

Sue Herrman, age 74, died Saturday, April 22, 2023, at her home.&nbsp; She was born September 25, 1948, in Wichita, KS, to Verne Stiles and Margaret Alice (McClenahan) Franklin.

Sue spent most of her career working for Schwan’s in various locations before settling in Salina, where she eventually retired from the company.&nbsp; She loved to spend time with family, friends, and her dogs.&nbsp; Her smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a brother, Walter S. Rives Jr. and sister-in-law, Darlene Rives of Chillicothe, MO; nieces and nephews Walter S. Rives III and wife Marietta of Des Moines, IA; Angela D. Hibner of Chillicothe, MO; Teresa Rains and husband Rob; Benjamin Franklin and wife Robin; Travis Franklin and wife Dana, all of Murfreesboro, TN; Joanna Rives and Austin Appleby of Port Hadlock, WA; her secondary family, Shirley Burt; Kris and Kevin Rogers and family; Amy Rundell and family; Patty Werth and family; and Janet McGrew and family.

She was preceded in death by her lifelong partner Milton A. “Corkie” Youngdahl; her parents; brother William Grant Rives; brother and sister-in-law Clayton “Bruce” and Karen Franklin; and sister-in-law Beverly Franklin.

Mary Kathryn (Yoder) Stucky, 95, died April 23, 2023. She was born June 29, 1927, to Eli T. and Ida (Plank) Yoder. She was raised on farms in the Hesston area, and in high school the family resided at a farm a few miles northwest of Walton. 

She attended Hesston Academy, and graduated from Walton High School in 1946. She attended Bethel College two years where she met Ransom Stucky. 

Ransom and Mary Kathryn were married in the Bethel College chapel on October 24, 1948. They established a dairy farm in western Harvey County. Mary Kathryn raised a large family, a big garden, and farmed together with Ransom for many years. They were members of the First Mennonite Church of Christian in Moundridge. In 1997, Ransom and Mary Kathryn moved to Pine Village independent living in Moundridge.

Ransom passed away March 14, 2011. Ransom and Mary Kathryn had five children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Children are Diana F. Graber (Charles) of Newton, Clinton D. Stucky (Kim Lockwood) of Wichita, Brian D. Stucky (Nancy) of Goessel, Annette K. Epp (Don) of Buhler and Janice L. Hershberger (Dale) of Clay Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John Arnold Yoder, Lawrence Yoder, and Dr. Vernon Yoder. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2023 with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moundridge Funeral Home. The committal service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 29, in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery in Moundridge, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church of Christian.

Katie Sue Haag, 70, of Hays, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, after the results of a fall at her home.,

She was born on July 3, 1952, in Abilene, Kansas, the daughter of Vernon and Eunice Steele Witwer. Katie graduated from Abilene High School in 1970 and later attended Fort Hays State University where she met Dale Kent Haag. They were married on January 15, 1973 in Abilene.&nbsp;

Katie and Dale returned to Hays in 1983 where she was a Supervisor at the ALCO Store for 20 years and a Co-Manager at Tandy’s Hallmark for 10 years.

While in college, Katie was a member of Tri Sigma, in recent years she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Ladies and having coffee with her friends. You could always find Katie on the phone with either family or friends.&nbsp;

Please remember Katie each time you are drinking a Starbucks coffee or listening to a George Strait song.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Dale of the home in Hays; sons Jonathan Haag and wife Peggy of Great Bend, Jason Haag of Orlando, Fla., and James Haag of Alexandria, Va.; brothers Lee Witwer and wife Bev of Iowa City, Iowa and Wayne Witwer and wife Mary Katherine of San Antonio, Tx.; sister Karen Courtney and husband Lynn of Ft. Jeanette Ann Harris of Mead, Colo., passed to her heavenly home on April 19, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society of Loveland, Colo. She was born Dec. 19, 1939, in Walker to Ed and Sally (Roth) Wellbrock.

One of 12 children (six boy and six girls), Jeanette graduated from Victoria High School in 1957. After graduating, she moved to Salina. There, she met the love of her life, Arthur Harris, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They married Jan. 20, 1962, and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved anything that involved family and was always up for planning family events. She and Art made their home at many different Air Force bases in their early married years as Art made a career in the military, and Jeanette kept the home fires burning.

Jeanette and Art have four children: Kim Holley (huband Michael), Hugoton, Cindy Redfield (Denny Craddick, Utica, Neb., Linda Pennock (Husband Doug), Berthoud, Colo., and Bryan Harris, Dacono, Colo. They have seven grandchildren: Matt, Amanda, Ashley, Andrew, Aaron, rebecca and Susan and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jeanete loved to sing and play various instruments. She was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Mead, where she was involved in the women's group and helped with numerous events.

Jeanette was always walking to see the beauty of God's creations and for exercise. She took part in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, walking 60 miles from Fort Collins to Boulder. She and Art went on many adventures and traveled extensively.

Jeanette always said, “life is beautiful” and “all girls need huggies." She lived her life by those mottos. She saw the beauty in all things and gave hugs freely.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Art, of the home. In addition to her immediate family, Jeannette is also survived by her bothers and sisters: Lee Wellbock (Bonnie Dolata), Dianne Paciello, Jim Wellbrock (Jan), Dennis Wellbrock (Theresa), Kathleen Cooper, Better Woodruff (Dennis) and Brenda Gross (Gary), and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Guardian Angels Catholics Church, Mead, on May 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. at 109 S. Third St., Mead. A Rosary will be said beginning at 10:30 AM at the church. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 11:00.

She and Art made their home at many different Air Force bases in their early married years as Art made a career in the military, and Jeanette kept the home fires burning.Jeanette and Art have four children: Kim Holley (huband Michael), Hugoton, Cindy Redfield (Denny Craddick, Utica, Neb., Linda Pennock (Husband Doug), Berthoud, Colo., and Bryan Harris, Dacono, Colo. They have seven grandchildren: Matt, Amanda, Ashley, Andrew, Aaron, rebecca and Susan and 12 great-grandchildren.Jeanete loved to sing and play various instruments. She was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Mead, where she was involved in the women's group and helped with numerous events.Jeanette was always walking to see the beauty of God's creations and for exercise. She took part in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk, walking 60 miles from Fort Collins to Boulder. She and Art went on many adventures and traveled extensively.Jeanette always said, “life is beautiful” and “all girls need huggies." She lived her life by those mottos. She saw the beauty in all things and gave hugs freely.Jeanette is survived by her husband, Art, of the home. In addition to her immediate family, Jeannette is also survived by her bothers and sisters: Lee Wellbock (Bonnie Dolata), Dianne Paciello, Jim Wellbrock (Jan), Dennis Wellbrock (Theresa), Kathleen Cooper, Better Woodruff (Dennis) and Brenda Gross (Gary), and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of life will be held at Guardian Angels Catholics Church, Mead, on May 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. at 109 S. Third St., Mead. A Rosary will be said beginning at 10:30 AM at the church. A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 11:00.

Vila Marie Cooper, 81, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023, surrounded by family at Salina Regional Health Center.

Throughout her life, she cooked for the McPherson High School and the McPherson Senior Center.&nbsp; Many might have known her also while working at Daylight Donuts in McPherson.

She was born on January 26, 1942, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Harold and Opal (Harder) Lafferty.&nbsp; She grew up on a farm outside of Inman, KS.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Windom High School in 1960.&nbsp; 

On November 25, 1961, Vila was united in marriage to Robert Cooper at the Andover Lutheran Church in Windom, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Kay and Patti.

She was a member of Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors of America.

Vila enjoyed cooking for the entire family for birthdays and holidays, her specialty being fried chicken.&nbsp; She also enjoyed collecting owls and would tell everyone, “No two are alike!”&nbsp;&nbsp; In earlier years, she enjoyed family vacations with the kids and in later years, she and Bob traveled on their own.&nbsp; Above all, Vila loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Graham and husband, Jerry, of McPherson, KS and Patti Cooper of McPherson, KS; her brothers Keith Lafferty of Inman, KS and Bob Lafferty of Bishop, GA; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob in 2022; her parents; brother Jim Lafferty; and sisters Doris Richards and Sharon Lafferty.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2023, at the McPherson Cemetery.

LINCOLN - Charles Quentin Deiter, 85, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 in Beloit, KS. He was born November 10, 1937 in Hunter, KS to Charles E. and Nellie A. (Cambridge) Deiter.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Berta Whittemore; sons David Deiter, Daniel Deiter, Rudy Gaytan, and Raul Gaytan; sisters Allene Wiles and Ardis Jensen; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
