Rosella Mary (Konzem) Eilert was born on January 10, 1926, at the Konzem farm home located five miles east and two miles north of Tipton, KS. She was the eleventh of twelve children born to Frank and Anna (Arnoldy) Konzem.&nbsp;&nbsp;She departed this life on April 28, 2023, at the age of 97.

Rosella, known by many as Rosie, attended school through the eighth grade at Lone Hill Grade school. She then attended Tipton High School where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1943 and had a scholarship to attend Marymount College. 

Only a small percentage of high school graduates attended college back then, and instead, she took a job at the War Price and Rationing Board of Beloit. Rosie was working at the Rationing Board when Paul Eilert came in to get the five gallons of gas that all servicemen received when they came home on leave. She knew who Paul was and she made it a point to wait on him that day. They corresponded by writing letters until Paul was discharged on October 11, 1945. Rosella and Paul saw each other every day until they were married on November 6, 1945.

Rosella and Paul were blessed with a large family of eleven children. Rosella was a full-time mother and farming partner and was no stranger to hard work. During the early years of her married life, she and Paul and the children lived at several different farmsteads that had no running water. Thus, she had to carry water for cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Along with caring for and preparing three meals a day for 11 children, which was no small feat, Rosella put out a garden each summer, canned produce, raised chickens, assisted with milking cows, and sewed most of the clothing for her children. Rosella instilled her work ethic and her dedication to serving others in each of her children.

Education was very important to Rosella and she expected her children to work as hard at school as they did on the farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;The older Eilert children attended school at Walnut Grove and Laban country schools until those schools closed. Then, all of the kids were sent to St. John’s schools in Beloit. Rosella was always ready and willing to help out at school any way she could. From the time her oldest entered school in 1953, until the youngest graduated in 1987, whenever there was work to be done, you could count on Rosie being there to help.

The three most important things to Rosella were her family, her church, and her country. She was an active member of St. John’s Ladies Guild, serving as banquet committee chairperson for many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary fulfilling the duties of president, secretary, and treasurer over the years.

Rosella took care of Paul when his health declined, allowing him to fulfill his wish to die at home. She then made it her mission to care for others. For many years, she made frequent visits to the Hilltop Lodge and to long term care, brightening the days of many friends and relatives. 

Rosella liked to keep busy and enjoyed eating lunch with friends at the Beloit Senior Center, exercising at the NCK Wellness Center, and volunteering at the Economy Shop and hospital gift shop. When she was at home, you could find her working crossword puzzles. 

In February, 2016, daughter Dee moved back to Beloit to become Rosella’s caregiver, serving as her driver, housekeeper, and “Scrabble” opponent, which allowed Rosella to continue to live in her home and enjoy life to the fullest. In July, 2021, she moved to the Resident Care Center, thoroughly enjoying the fellowship she shared with residents and staff.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rosella was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband Paul with whom she shared 49 years before his death in 1995, her oldest son David in 2011, her grandchildren Amber Stroede, Dillon Stroede, and Caleb Eilert, and her great-grandchild Ally Rae Eilert. 

She is survived by her children Carol and Norman Feingold, Tucson, AZ; Dee Eilert, Tucson, AZ; Pauline Casey and Carol Martin, Denver, CO; Richard and Louise Eilert, Duluth, MN,; Dan and Tammy Eilert, Wichita, KS; Norman and Linda Eilert, Salina, KS; Allen and Tammy Eilert, Beloit, KS; Deanne and Alan Winkel, Glen Elder, KS; Scott and Janine Eilert, Wichita, KS; and Lisa and Ed Long, Beloit KS; along with her daughter-in-law Patricia Eilert, Branson MO; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Rosella will be dearly missed by everyone.

Funeral services will be at 10 a,n, Thursday, May 4 and a rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the temporary St. John's Catholic Church (former Dollar General building). Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Resident Care Center, Beloit Senior Center, or St. John's Memorial Trust Fund.

Donald Neil Hewitt, a man of quiet strength and unwavering dedication, passed away on April 25, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born on January 13, 1932, in Salt Creek Township, Mitchell County, Kansas, to William Neil and Neva Muriel Broadbent Hewitt.

At age four, Don started school at District 93 Iowa School in Center Township, then graduated from Beloit High School in 1949.&nbsp;

Don grew up working on his family’s farm. After high school, he continued farming with his dad, uncle Carlton, and brothers. 

He joined the United States Army on January 21, 1953.&nbsp;&nbsp;Don proudly served his country at Camp Lucas, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was honorably discharged January 20, 1955, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal.

hortly after&nbsp;returning home from&nbsp;military service,&nbsp;Don&nbsp;met&nbsp;Cylene B. Peters, and they married on November 28, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit.&nbsp;&nbsp;They lived in Kansas City briefly while Don attended trade school to learn appliance repair, then remained in the Beloit area where they raised four wonderful children together.

Don developed many talents through his lifetime; he was a skilled woodworker, mechanic, machinist, welder, repairman, an inventor, and stockman. In high school woodworking class, he crafted a footstool, bookcase, vanity/dresser, cedar chest, and using oak wood salvaged from an abandoned building, a desk – all items cherished by his family. Being self-sufficient and a&nbsp;dedicated&nbsp;provider for his family, he completed plumbing, electrical work, building, and much more. He was a&nbsp;lifelong&nbsp;farmer, worked part-time a few years for the Agricultural Stabilization Service, and served on the Center Township Board for several years.

Don's ingenuity and engineering were remarkable. With a few parts salvaged from Fred White’s lot and a Plymouth pickup, he built a front-end loader&nbsp;which he used many years to feed silage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Also from salvaged parts, he&nbsp;created a&nbsp;side-by-side&nbsp;vehicle&nbsp;made from&nbsp;two bicycle frames, a motor, and a school bus seat. He designed a tool to help farmers streamline their fence installation process; his&nbsp;electric fence post&nbsp;driver consists of a steel cap and handle welded onto a section of light-duty angle iron with a footstep on the other end. It allows users to drive fence posts into the ground using only their body weight on the step. The driver eliminates the need to remove insulators when moving posts, saving time and labor. It also eliminates the need to use a sledgehammer and prevents fatigue from manual installation methods. This practical and efficient solution was recognized and featured in Successful Farming magazine. Don, along with his son Ryan, used the driver to drive thousands of posts.

Don was good at math and had a fantastic memory for dates of significance, such as anniversaries and birthdates; he could be counted on to recall this information for Hewitt and Peters relatives, including parents, aunts/uncles, siblings, and children. Demonstrating events most important to him, Don bought and kept an automobile for the birth year of each of his children (a 1957 Chevy Bel Aire, 1959 Plymouth Plaza, and 1974 Pontiac Bonneville), and a 1956 Jeep Pickup for the year of his marriage.

Though soft-spoken and often a man of few words, Don’s actions spoke volumes. By his example, he showed how to love loyally and to laugh often. A&nbsp;caring husband and father, he smiled, joked, played, encouraged, supported, and protected. He was proud of his children and loved them unconditionally. He taught&nbsp;his children&nbsp;responsibility through his work ethic. Don would have measured success by the character of his children. Don and Cylene were blessed to spend over 66 years devoted to each other.

Don was known as&nbsp;patient, calm,&nbsp;compassionate,&nbsp;gentle, and for his humility and down-to-earth nature. He was most comfortable in his Key herringbone striped overalls, chambray shirt, and house slippers. He wanted others to feel comfortable in his presence; he welcomed visitors, enjoyed listening about their experiences, and invited them to return.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Preceding in death were Don’s parents; his son Ronald Dean; two brothers, Robert and Larry; and great-granddaughter Alyssa.

He leaves behind&nbsp;his loving wife Cylene; children,Carol Lea Maish and husband Alan, Renee Hewitt Soden and husband Garett, and Ryan Neil Hewitt; five grandchildren, Erin Nicole Urban and husband Jeremy, Amanda Lynn Maish, Westin Niel Lee Mash, Lakin Leekay Soden, and McKason Lendon Soden; two great-grandchildren, Sean Riley Urban and Natalie Ray Urban; and a host of other family and friends.

Don's legacy lives on through his family and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him. He will be remembered for his commitment to his family and the lasting relationships he built throughout his life.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 1 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday and visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the rosary service begins Sunday at the funeral home. 

Memorials may be given to the St. John's Restoration Project or Alzheimer's Association.

Marilyn J. Wallace, age 88, entered into rest on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Belleville Health Care, Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born January 16, 1935 in Concordia, Kansas to John and Virginia (Thyfault) Fazel, Sr.&nbsp;

Marilyn graduated from the Concordia Catholic High School in the class of 1954.

She married Robert D. Clark at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union one son was born, Bruce. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2009.&nbsp;

She later married Cecil B. Wallace in 1959 to this union one daughter was born, Donna.&nbsp;&nbsp;He preceded her in death.

Marilyn was a CNA having worked for Sunset Nursing Home and the Nazareth Motherhouse, both of Concordia.

Marilyn was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.

She enjoyed walking and taking care of her home.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Bruce Clark, Concordia, KS and Donna Wallace, San Jose, CA; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert and second&nbsp;husband, Cecil, a brother, John, Jr., sister, Dorothy Fleury, infant sister.

Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023&nbsp;&nbsp;at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with Fr. David Metz officiating.&nbsp;

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 Theresa Annette Verner truly lived by this verse. Born January 10, 1955, in Atlanta, GA and then soaring to Jesus April 27, 2023, she lived in light of eternity.

She was adopted by family in her early years by Noah and Lillian Breeden. She grew up with Danny, Harold, Ruth, and Sue as siblings. Although the youngest of this brood, she showed them who was really in charge when both of her arms were in&nbsp; casts!

Even though growing up had some rough edges, God saw her though and she married Dale Gordon Cato, Jr. (d. 2023). She had two children, Jamie and Dale Cato III (d. 2020). Later she married Ish Verner (d. 2010) and adopted her beautiful granddaughter, Dianna.

Theresa loved Jesus! And that love poured out in how she loved her family, friends, church, and any person God sent into her life. She overflowed with kindness and generosity to whomever she met. But when it came to games, her competitiveness kicked in. Watch out because she would feed you and then cream you! She loved a good game and a fun themed party and was always looking for something to celebrate. Every holiday was worth going all out for and any occasion worth the effort. And she would learn a new craft or recipe to make it happen. And bring on the church potlucks!

Although tragedy and health issues were weaved throughout her life, she fixed her eyes on Jesus and praised Him in the midst of every storm. One of her favorite hymns was “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” And that she did and was ever reminding us to do the same. When it came to life’s squabbles, she would always ask “Will this matter in eternity?” And so many things didn’t. She was always quick to give God the glory in every circumstance and truly sought His Kingdom first in the best and the worst of times.

Theresa was a night owl and was always ready to stay up to talk to her kids and grandkids, helping to solve the problems of the world. As she grew in her faith, she pointed to what God’s Word would say. She trusted in His sovereignty and was often the first to say, “Let’s pray.” And she never let bitterness encroach upon her soul. She learned to forgive and became the first to remind us that we are only truly free when we could forgive and pray for others. She was willing to go wherever God would lead and put up with whatever trouble or inconvenience came her way with thankfulness and patience. With a divine sense of justice, she acknowledged there was injustice and evil in this world but trusted in a good God who would always have the final say and work all things for good.

Theresa’s Celebration of a Life lived for Jesus will be on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Abilene, KS.

SALINA -&nbsp;Shirley R. Harper, 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 26, 2023, at 10:02 p.m. at Kenwood Nursing Home surrounded by family and lots of love. Shirley was born in Junction City, Kansas on December 8, 1948, to Kermit and Sadie Upshaw.

Shirley is survived by her husband Robert Harper; siblings Gary Upshaw, Jeanne DiaAmicis, Mary Ann Furgye, Patty Duncan, and Richard Upshaw; children Richard Blevins, Jr., Barbara Frybarger, Katherine Dreher and Edee Blevins-Carter; grandchildren Justin Harrison, Jordan Blevins, Jasmine Blevins, Amanda Adams, Jacob Adams and unborn grandson, Adam Blevins; and her loving Chihuahua Bandit.

She leaves many family members including several cousins, nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren to treasure memories.

Shirley was a loving mother to all who needed her and was loved by many. She loved her family very much and Elvis Presley. She loved God and all his creations. She loved to laugh and enjoyed her life.

Many thanks to the staff at Kenwood Nursing Home for making her comfortable and sharing friendships.&nbsp; Our family is forever grateful.

Faylon Ray Persinger was born on September 7, 1940, near Scandia, Kansas, the son of Wesley &amp; Evelyn (Mahan) Persinger. He passed away in Belleville on April 26, 2023, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 19 days.

He then worked for the Republic County Highway Department for 34 years before his retirement.

Faylon liked to be outside, doing stuff like mowing, planting flowers, going for car rides, trips to Rocky Pond, BBQs with family, and going racing and helping out under the grandstands during the fair. 

He liked his good old western shows and he sure did like his good old train ride that his family took him on in Abilene, Kansas. He had a great surprise when he arrived at Enterprise, Kansas, when the conductor came up to Faylon when he got off at the stop, and asked him if he would like to ride in the front with them on the way back to Abilene. The smile on his face was priceless, as that was one of his wishes after he was diagnosed with cancer, and his family made sure to make his wish come true. He sure wasn't a stranger to anyone because he was the nicest guy out there and would do anything for anyone.&nbsp;

He was united in marriage to Sheila Carlton on October 17, 1975.

Faylon is preceded in death by his parents Wesley Persinger and Evelyn Hanel, brothers Lynn Persinger, Wesley “Corky” Persinger, sister Shirley Diane Howe, and infant son Gary Persinger.

He is survived by his wife Sheila, daughter Sondra Comstock and her husband Patrick, son Michael Persinger, daughter Wanda Reutzel, daughter Victoria Lewis and son Mark Persinger. Faylon is also survived by his grandchildren Lakisha Toohey (Christopher) and their son Logan; Gunner Comstock (Charity) and their children Jordan and Grayson; Morgan Alexander (Dalton); Shelby Reutzel (Rhami) and their children Jaxon, Kyson, Hudson, and River; Bridget Reutzel and her son Azeriah; Austin Reutzel; Kristopher Lewis; Michelle Persinger; Alan Persinger (Dawnelle) and their daughter Keegan. He is also survived by his brothers Arlis Gene Persinger (Willeta), Larry Persinger, and his sister Lyndal Frybarger (Don), nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The Persinger family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the staff of Meadowlark Hospice for the wonderful care they provide to Faylon and the family.

A celebration of Faylon’s life will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., at the 4-H Building in Belleville, with a potluck with family and friends.

ELLSWORTH - Arthur Robert “Buck” Strong, Jr., 90, passed away April 27, 2023 in Salina. He was born September 5, 1932 in Athol, KS to Arthur Robert and Bessie Mae (Moore) Strong.

Buck married Joyce Mulkey in Smith Center, KS on December 24, 1950. 

He was the owner and operator of Buck’s, and a former member of Ellsworth Masonic Lodge, Ellsworth Fire Department, and National Campers and Hikers Association.

Buck is survived by his wife Joyce Strong of Ellsworth; son Jim Strong (Fred) of Wichita; daughter Kathy Lumsden (Bob) of Puyallup, WA; daughter Karen Janzen (Scott) of Ellsworth; son Ric Strong (Theresa) of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren Jess Reynolds (Lynette), Clint Fletcher (Jen), Rob Vivenzio (Jess), Chris Strong (Jeremy), Heather Taylor (Nick), Ryan Strong (Katie), and Richelle Bean (Phil); six great-grandchildren; and sisters Jeanne Arment and Jacque Scheideman.

SALINA -&nbsp;Shirley A. Lang, 87, passed away April 27, 2023, at the Salina Presbyterian Manor.&nbsp; She was born March 18, 1936, in rural Republic County, Kansas, to Ernest and Amelia (Plucar) Chizek.&nbsp; 

Shirley grew up on the family farm with her two sisters, Violet (Garwood) and Marjorie (Walthers), attended Cuba schools, graduating from Cuba High School in 1954.&nbsp; Shirley attended Kansas State University.

Shirley was a longtime member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; Shirley worked at Marymount College and retired from Saline County.&nbsp; 

After retirement, Shirley volunteered as an election worker and very much enjoyed volunteering at the Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp; In 2019, Shirley moved to the Presbyterian Manor.&nbsp; Shirley loved her Sunrise Presbyterian and Presbyterian Manor communities.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (2013), and her sisters, Violet (Harry) Garwood and Marjorie (Dean) Walthers.&nbsp;

Esther Mae Thieszen, 92, of North Newton, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at Kidron Bethel Village. She was born April 1, 1931 in Goessel, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob G. and Katharina (Woelk) Klassen. She graduated from Goessel High School and later received a degree from the Bethel Deaconess Nursing Program as a registered nurse. Esther specialized in geriatric nursing and worked as the director of nursing at various facilities throughout Kansas, Minnesota and Indiana. She was united in marriage to Harold D. Thieszen on September 18, 1953 at the Goessel Mennonite Church. They were married almost 70 years. Esther was a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. Trudy was born in Belleville, Kansas, on December 24, 1947, and as a Christmas Eve baby found the date both fortuitous and sometimes frustrating. Her dad, Lad Drapal, often asked if she wanted one big present or two small ones. Like many of us, she wanted two big ones. Another factor was that dad always wanted a boy, so she tried to fill that role at times by helping in the fields, and walking barefoot through the corn to keep raccoons away.

Trudy received many gifts, most notably her ability to relate to others and treat everybody as a friend. Early years included strong participation in 4-H activities and winning many ribbons. The basement rafters at home in Cuba were festooned with a huge array of colorful ribbons won by the whole family. Beauty pageant participation was almost required of Trudy and her sister Janice. Czech festivals dominated family trips with the wearing of traditional costumes and singing Czech songs in the native language.

That brings up a bit of a theme with Trudy: she was a minor rebel. Janice learned Czech, so Trudy studied Russian. Instead of traveling to “the homeland” she joined a group called People to People. Several trips were made to Russia as a sponsor of high school students.

Trudy studied at Kansas State University and Emporia State, earning bachelor and master degrees in education. She taught in the Seaman District, then Blue Valley, and finally in Shawnee Mission. Teaching junior high school geography, Trudy and her fellow ninth grade teachers were moved to the four-year high school level (where she met Brian Angevine—her second husband). Her love of the Russian language and the friendly people stuck with her, leading her to establish a Russian language course at Shawnee Mission West high school—the first of its kind in the district. Two years of very early morning teaching Russian on television followed—along with some criticism from adult native speakers.

A big breakthrough occurred shortly thereafter. The district formed an international school to offer language and culture courses in Japanese, Chinese, Arabic and Russian. Trudy was instrumental in planning and developing the school and its curriculum. Each year a native speaker joined the school to help impart special knowledge. And each year students from each of the countries changed places with each other. Friendships acquired from those exchanges carried on the rest of Trudy’s life.

Trudy’s activities led her to go on a Fulbright-Hays scholarship trip to Poland and Japan. In addition she spent a summer studying at Moscow University. Finally, as a result of meeting Brian, she visited the “home country.” Brian was on a Fulbright-Hays scholarship program to Poland and the Czech Republic. Trudy joined him in Prague and spent a week visiting relatives, including a side trip to Slovakia and Vienna.

Trudy and Allen Ringer produced two children, Russell Neal Ringer and Tara Aneska (Ringer) Birdsall. Her children were the joy of her life and that pleasure increased with the birth of her grandson Connor Birdsall. Her union with Brian gave her kids a stepfather and Brian’s sons, Eric David Angevine (Charlottesville, Virginia) and Marc Allen Angevine (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), a distant stepmother.

A devout Catholic, Trudy was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Isidore church in Cuba, and St. Edward in Belleville. Good Shepherd Church in Shawnee Mission, and Corpus Christi church in Lawrence also served her needs.

Trudy passed away on April 29, 2023, at the age of 75.

Trudy was preceded in death by Lad and Viola Drapal, Allen Ringer, aunt Lavonne and Uncle Clarence Thomas, and brother-in-law Dr. Jerome Carrico.

She is survived by husband Brian Angevine (Lawrence), son Russ (Cuba), daughter Tara (Jeff Birdsall), and grandson Connor Birdsall (DeSoto), sister Janice Carrico (Beloit) and nephews Kevin, Kurt, and Kyle.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville. Rosary/Vigil Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and the family will greet friends following the rosary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 4, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Edward Catholic Church in Belleville, burial will follow at St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery in Cuba.

Arno Erich Rinas, 98, of Salina passed away January 28, 2023 at Salina Presbyterian Manor. Born March 9, 1924 in Arnsdorf, East Prussia, Germany; Arno immigrated to the United States as a child to North Dakota. He served in World War II and had a long career as a civil and structural engineer. He is survived by his children Becky (Hugh) Hyberger, Salina; Carrie Magill, Kansas City, MO; Suzie (Scott) Bertram, Lake Quivira, KS; Heidi (Eduardo) Contreras, Tulsa, OK; Polly (Joe) Janos, Huntersville, NC. His son Mark died in 1981.

Visitation is May 5 from 4-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The memorial service is May 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina, with committal following at Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Wounded Warriors.

Gwen Eck was born Gwendolyn Joyce Dix on February 13, 1933, in what was then The McPherson County Hospital. She was the youngest of three daughters born to George and Erma Dix. Her sisters, Hazel and Dora, were both much older, making her the baby of the family. 

While in high school, she was an accomplished baton-twirler and took great pride in leading the marching band in the McPherson County All Schools Day parade as well as performing at the bandshell.

While still in High School at age 17, she married her lifelong partner, Leonard Eck, on June 20, 1950. She would spend most of her adult life as a homemaker raising sons Joe, George and Jon, born of that union. One of her favorite hobbies was handwriting analysis, through which she obtained a master’s degree.

After her husband Leonard retired from Kansas Jack in 1993, he formed his own business called Ecktronics, and Gwen found a new role as his helper. She would handle the books, correspondence, shipping and other duties to help make Ecktronics a success.

After Leonard died in 2010, her cousin Joan gave her a cat that she named "Precious." Precious kept her company and occasionally nibbled on her tropical plants in the sunroom she greatly enjoyed.

Gwen went to be with her Lord and Savior April 27, 2023, at the home on north Hartup that she shared with Leonard for over 50 years. She was 90.

Survivors include sons Joe of the home and George (Ramona) of McPherson. 

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, her parents, sisters, and son Jon.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 1, at Emmanuel Church Cemetery, 2161 Comanche Rd., Galva.

Jeremy Wade Kessler, 37, died April 26, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born March 5, 1986, at Newton, the son of Terry D. and Shery K. (Albrecht) Kessler. He was a member of the West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

Jeremy graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 2004. He later received a degree from Hutchinson Community College in automotive body repair in 2006. He worked as a farm hand. Jeremy was formerly employed by Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, where he was a team leader. He is survived by his parents Terry and Shery Kessler of Moundridge; children Colton Kessler and Audrey Kessler; fiancé Sarah Killenberg of Mönchengladbach, NRW Germany and her two children Liam and Jakoby; and brother Cory (Stephenie) Kessler of Hot Springs, AR, and their children,Devon and Alexis. Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023 at West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge. A meal will follow in the church fellowship hall.

HAMPTON, VA -&nbsp;John S. Tripp, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep April 14, 2023. John was born in Salina in 1938, the only child of Orval and Ruth Tripp. 

He earned electrical engineering degrees at Kansas State University and a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. 

He served in the U.S. Army (1st Lt.). The Army sent him to NASA, in Hampton, Virginia, where he worked the rest of his career as an aeronautical engineer.

John had a massive stroke in February 2020, which left him almost totally paralyzed, but didn't dampen his sense of humor.

John was a faithful member of his church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and serving as church treasurer for nearly 30 years. John was always so kind and thoughtful, constantly looking for ways to help others.

John was predeceased by his parents. Left to treasure his memory are his cousins in Kansas and Colorado, his friends in Virginia, and his faithful dog Biscuit.

Jacqualyn Bernice Benton, 86, of Gainesville, MO, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023. She was born on February 19, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, to Levester and Bernice (Anderson) Gay.

Jacqualyn was a life-long Salina resident. After retiring after many years as a bank teller, she took over at Benton’s café with her husband, Bennie. She was very active in her church community and loved to sing to her grandkids and loved cooking, making the best soul food. She wasn’t able to have her own children, but with a lot of love to give she accumulated many through the years.

Survivors include her daughters Latasha Ellison and Michele Humphrey of Salina; grandchildren Nalo Bishop, Ariana Benton, Davon Benton, and Aaden Ellison; great-grandchildren Dominick Benton and Narayah Benton-Bishop; and siblings Jack Gay (Gwen) of Bakersfield, CA, and Carnez Canada of Wichita, KS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
