Charlene Faye DeWitt

Charlene Faye DeWitt, 80, Beverly, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, in Minneapolis. She was born March 11, 1943, in Vesper to Leo and Lillian (Kingan) Flaherty.
Charlene and Ronald DeWitt were united in marriage on October 20, 1961, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2009.
She was what you would call a “jack of all trades.” She was a hard worker and held many jobs throughout her lifetime. Some of those were Tony’s in Salina, The Fashion Pallet in Minneapolis, cook at the Minneapolis High School, cook at the Ottawa County Detention Center, and she and Ron ran the Minneapolis Country Club restaurant for many years. Charlene was a past mayor and city council member of Beverly as well. She and Ron also fostered over 350 children throughout their married life.
Charlene’s passion and love for her family was evident and was involved in their day-to-day activities.
Besides Ron, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roy, Don, and Butch.
Survivors are her daughters, Terri DeWitt (Kara Lariviere), Cindy Scarbrough (Jerry), and Rhonda Bell (Chris); siblings, LaVern, David, Herb, Harold, Denny Jo, and Marlene Arthur; grandchildren, Tabitha, Alisha, Christina, Casey, Seth, Rose, Amber, and Sarah; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite team attire to the visitation. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 26, at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, Lincoln with Pastor Kaye Metzler officiating. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Senior Center, or the Colorado Township Hall located in Beverly and may be left in care of the funeral home.
