Mary "Lola" Ginther, 88, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 15th, 2023. Lola was born in Rural Barnard, Kansas on November 23, 1934, a daughter of Mary (Nelson) and Sherman Jackson. After high school, she graduated from Brown Mackie Business College. Survivors include three daughters, Karla Manspeaker (Bob), of Hope, Brenda Penney (Jay Bailey), of Wichita, Denise Tweedy (Douglas), of Gypsum; son, Steve Penney (Kris), of Papillion, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren, Eric Tweedy (Eric Strimple), Ian Bailey, Jason Penney (Jessica), Lysandra Penney (James Eele); 7 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kay Jackson, of Rural Barnard, Kansas. Michael Alan “Mike” Hopper, 63, of Russell, Kansas passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his home.

Mike was born February 24, 1960, in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;The son of James David, II and Dorothy M. (Teppe) Hopper. &nbsp;He grew up in Russell and was a 1978&nbsp;graduate of Russell High School. &nbsp;He then attended Kansas State University and Fort Hays State University.

Mike was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Baird on July 6, 1985 in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;This union was blessed with two children; Cameron and Brianne. &nbsp;They made their home in Russell.

Mike was the General Manager of ABCO Wire &amp; Metal Products. &nbsp;He was active in the Russell Pheasants Forever. &nbsp;He enjoyed fishing, golf and hunting. He spent his free time working and playing at the farm with his friends and family.

Surviving family include his wife of 38 years, Beth of Russell, Kansas; son, Cameron W. Hopper (Mary Grace) of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter, Brianne E. Perez (Erick) of Swansboro, North Carolina; sister, Becky Vogt of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brothers, Tom Hopper (Carol) of Mesquite, Texas and Tim Hopper (Laura) of Russell, Kansas; and a grandson, Hezekiah Perez.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James D. Hopper, III and William Z. Hopper.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. Michael Alan “Mike” Hopper

Mary Katherine (Wickstrom) Nolan, 102, of Marquette, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, &nbsp;in Marquette.

Mary was born on August 26, 1920, in Conway, KS, the daughter of E. Birdette and Grace B. (Hollingsworth) Wickstrom.&nbsp; She graduated from Marquette High School and Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mary was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968.&nbsp; She joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1945.&nbsp; She served as a nurse at several Air Force hospitals and was Director of Nursing at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On March 9, 1969, Mary was united in marriage to Alson V. Nolan, Jr.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on December 8, 2000.

Survivors include: a niece, Cynthia (Mike) Hulse of Marquette, KS; nephews, Todd Parkhill of Los Angeles, CA and Clif Parkhill, Jr. of Oxnard, CA; great-nephews, Brandon Hulse of Marquette, KS, Lance Hulse of Tipton, KS, and Matthew (Diane) Wickstrom of Marquette, KS; great-great-niece, Kimber Grace Wickstrom; great-great-nephew, John David Wickstrom; step-son, Alson Nolan, III of Mesquite, TX; step-grandsons, Jeffery (Lea) Nolan of Fairview, TX and Michael Patrick Nolan of Allen, TX; step-great-grandson, Parker Scott (Olivia) Nolan of Anna, TX; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother &amp; sister-in-law, Bertis &amp; Joan Wickstrom; sister &amp; brother-in-law, Eileen &amp; C.A. Parkhill; and nephews, Eric Lyle Parkhill and David Wickstrom &amp; wife, Peggy.

Norma Jean Phelps, 91, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023. She was born on the family farm in rural Saline County, Kan., on November 26, 1931, to James and Elizabeth “Alice” (Walle) Phillips.

Norma married John Phelps in Concordia, Kan., and they started life on a farm west of Bavaria, raising laying hens and selling hatching eggs. She worked at the Brookville Hotel in Brookville, Kan., before the family moved to a home west of Hedville – present farm – on Reese Road. She helped feed cattle and many hogs, haul grain during harvest, and always had chickens to raise and sell eggs. Norma was an avid gardener and home canner. She was always cooking for whoever was there - you always got something to eat, and the coffee was always on.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Allen Phelps; daughter, Angela Manningly; and brother Bill Phillips; and infant brother, Harold.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ahlquist (Frank) of Tescott, Kan.; brothers, Donald Phillips (Jeanette) and Tom Phillips (Belinda); grandchildren, Jon Ahlquist, Jeanne Ahlquist, Jessica Ebert (Levi), Joel Phelps (Lynette), and Tim Lyon (Agi); great-grandchildren, Ty and Mason Ebert, Garrett Phelps, and Abigail Lyon; and many nieces and nephews.

Fielden "Butch" Glenn Figgins

Craig Allan Callihan, was born on June 25, 1969 in Belleville, KS to James Callihan &amp; Carole (Odette) Lagasse. He passed from this life on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

He graduated from Clifton-Clyde High School in the Class of 87’.&nbsp;

Craig worked for Willbrant Construction for 24 years as a heavy equipment operator. He previously owned and operated his own trucking business known as C/C. Craig’s handle was Billy Big Rigger.&nbsp;

He had an unfiltered mouth and sense of humor. He always expressed his opinion and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. He was a dog lover, having Fuzzy, JoJo, and Peppa who predeceased him, and Katie who survives.

Craig enjoyed hanging out with his friends in special places around the Clyde community. He also enjoyed barbequing. One of his biggest joys was to visit KC’s Expression where he had donated a large ceramic pot. They asked him “Craig, what will you do when you retire?” His comeback was that he was going to be a greeter for the beauty salon, by the door where his ceramic pot sits.

He previously owned and operated his own trucking business known as C/C. Craig’s handle was Billy Big Rigger.&nbsp;He had an unfiltered mouth and sense of humor. He always expressed his opinion and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. He was a dog lover, having Fuzzy, JoJo, and Peppa who predeceased him, and Katie who survives.Craig enjoyed hanging out with his friends in special places around the Clyde community. He also enjoyed barbequing. One of his biggest joys was to visit KC’s Expression where he had donated a large ceramic pot. Kenneth D. Armbrust, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; He was an electrician, working at Cessna in Hutchinson and Johns Manville in McPherson.

Kenneth was born on July 26, 1931, in Claflin, KS, the son of William Henry and Wilhelmina Julianna (Lubinus) Armbrust.&nbsp; He graduated from Claflin High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; On November 10, 1953, Ken was united in marriage to Maxine Sallee in St. John, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 68 years prior to her passing on December 5, 2021.&nbsp;

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Church.&nbsp; He was a longtime Red Cross volunteer, a Scoutmaster, and a volunteer fireman.

Survivors include: a son, Jim Armbrust (Gerry) of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Patty Armbrust of Wichita, KS and Cindy Ledbetter (Charles) of Mustang, OK; a brother, Bob Armbrust (Barbara) of Hutchinson, KS; sisters-in-law, Kay Armbrust-Feist of Arkansas, City, KS and Roberta Sallee of South Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Jenny Epp, Kenny Armbrust, Angie Carbajal (Raul), Chris Ledbetter (Haley), Matthew Ledbetter (Jessica), Heather Ledbetter, Gill Ledbetter, Derek Borth (Claudia), and Jessica Morrell (Troy); and 15 great-grandchildren.

Alexander Palm Wyatt, 34, died on June 22, 2023, at his residence in Hollywood, California, where he was an active music blogger pursuing a career as a metal rock drummer.

He was born November 6, 1988, in Tacoma, Washington, and after spending his first years in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, his family moved to Salina, Kansas, in 1999, where he graduated from Central High School in 2007 and then from Kansas Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Theatre in 2012. &nbsp;During his High School and College days, he enjoyed many aspects of performing, playing trumpet in the Orchestra and Band, singing in the Choir and choral groups and acting in plays and musicals. &nbsp;Following graduation from KWU, he attended the Summer Arts Program in Monterey, California, and as a result, he decided to move to Hollywood and pursue a career in music performance.&nbsp;

Starting at an early age Alex developed a deep love of music. In grade school, he could identify almost any classical composer just by hearing a few seconds of a song. Over the years his tastes evolved and through the influence of his sister he learned about, and fell in love with, heavy metal. This love of music influenced trips all over the United States with his Father to attend countless rock concerts. Most recently, Alex and his Father attended the Motley Crue, Poison and Def Leppard Concert in August of 2022 at the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

He loved family vacations traveling around the United States and abroad, especially to the family cottage in Canada.&nbsp; Those vacations generated lots of family lore about the ability of Alex and his sister to simulate a tornado passing through any room they shared.&nbsp; Alex enjoyed staying current on local and world events.&nbsp; He and his Mother spent many hours going over world affairs and academic subjects, especially math at which he became quite proficient.&nbsp; Finally, he loved to cook, especially on the outdoor grill at his residence overlooking Sunset and Vine in Hollywood while entertaining his friends.

Alex is survived by his parents, Margaret and Bruce Wyatt of Salina; his sister, Jessica and niece Mary Margaret of Baltimore, Maryland; as well as by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church,&nbsp;308 S 8th St, Salina, KS. A private interment was held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Alexander Palm Wyatt

Darrell Dean Malpert, 89, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29th at Lindsborg Community Hospital in Lindsborg, KS. Darrell was born March 21, 1934, at Nora, NE, the middle child of three sons born to John and Karen (Bach) Malpert. He was baptized April 22, 1934, at Salem Lutheran Church-Superior, NE, by Pastor C. Bunge.

Before the age of one, the family moved to Cadams, NE. Darrell began his education at Cadams until the family moved to Deshler, NE in 1942. On May 16, 1948, he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler by the Reverend R.H. Riensche. Darrell graduated from Deshler High School in 1951. He went on and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in June 1956. In the summers of his college years, Darrell worked in his uncle’s drug store where he learned the business side of pharmacy having the dream of owning his own store someday.

In September, after his college graduation, Darrell entered the armed services where he served at Dugway, Utah, as a laboratory technician and in Newfoundland, assigned to the Strategic Air Command hospital providing shot clinics and other medical services for the military personnel and their dependents. While in Newfoundland, his superiors noticed that Darrell was especially good with young children, therefore, any vaccinations for children were sent to him. He was honorably discharged in September 1958.

On February 14, 1959, Darrell was united in marriage to Janet Werner at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler NE, by Pastor Erwin Janssen. To this union, three daughters were born, Dawn, Avona and Meredith. The couple made their first home in Hebron, NE, where Darrell was a pharmacist at Christensen Drug. They later moved to Clarinda, IA, where he was a pharmacist for Hawley Drug for eight years. In 1969, Darrell fulfilled his dream and purchased Higdon Drug Store in Goodland, KS, where he and Janet owned and operated Malpert Drug Company for the next 28 years until Darrell’s retirement in 1997.

While in Goodland, KS, Darrell served on the city council, was a member of the Goodland Chamber of Commerce and served on the church council of Emmanual Lutheran Church.

Darrell was an avid fisherman. When he was not filling prescriptions, he would be at the lake. Darrell also enjoyed golfing on his days off, however he said that he would have been a better golfer if he didn’t spend so much time boating and fishing. Throughout his years in Goodland, Darrell shared his love of the lake with family and friends, spending many weekends boating and picnicking. Darrell also enjoyed swimming, hiking, and watching the stars. He enjoyed taking hikes with his family and getting the telescope out to share his knowledge of astronomy. Darrell is named in the International Star Registry with a star named after him. After Jan’s retirement in 2001, the couple moved to Lindsborg, KS. During retirement the couple enjoyed travelling, especially spending winter months in Green Valley, AZ. Darrell also enjoyed gardening and supplying the neighborhood with plenty of tomatoes and cucumbers.&nbsp; Darrell was an avid reader and enjoyed learning new things. He served on the Lindsborg Housing Authority as a board member of Villa Ro and was also a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Lindsborg Lions Club.

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife Janet of 63 years, his parents, John and Karen Malpert, brother Kenneth Malpert, his father and mother-in-law Albert and Esther Werner, sisters-in-law Jane Malpert and Jan Werner.

He is survived by his three daughters, Dawn (Kendal) Rohr of Canton, KS; Avona (Scott) Wennihan of Columbus, NE; Meredith (Wayne) Pohlmann of Deshler, NE; brother Merlin (Barbara) Malpert of Nixa, MO, and brother-in-law Ronald Werner of Poplar Grove, IL. He was a proud grandparent to Bret (Zoe) and Scott (Tiffany) Rohr, Miranda (Todd) Jackson, Whitney (AJ) Bayerl, Emily Pohlmann, Megan (Zach) Mason, Jared (Cheyanna) Pohlmann, Ragan Pohlmann, fourteen great-grandchildren, many friends, and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., August 19th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, KS with burial in Deshler, NE, at a later date.

Darrell Dean Malpert

Sheri Lynn (Leister) Roesner, 58, died on July 31, 2023. She was born on June 14, 1965, to Gayle and Helen (Hoeffner) Leister. She attended South East of Salina and graduated from Sacred Heart High School where she was Homecoming Queen in 1983.&nbsp; She attended Dental Hygiene School at Wichita State and Kansas State University where she worked her way onto the Dean’s List in 86, 87 and her final graduation year in 88 and went on to be a highly esteemed hygienist in Austin, TX.

The name “Sheri” is derived from the word “Sunshine” and that is an understatement of who she was. She was the life of every party, light of every room and she will be deeply and dearly missed.

Growing up, Sheri was fond of riding horses, bowling, cheerleading and helping out with the family business.&nbsp; She was an avid traveler and speed walker and Lake Travis visitor. She was happiest on her boat listening to country music, spending time with her family, walking her dog “Buddy”, or somewhere on the beach. Her 3 children, Colton, Chase and Alyssa, were her whole life until she became “grandma” to Oaklynn, Parker and Stella.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gayle, her grandparents, William and Minnie Hoeffner and Glenn and Verna Leister. She was united in marriage to Tom Roesner.

She is survived by her children, Colton (Samantha), Chase, and Alyssa (Steven) Anderson; her mother, Helen and stepfather, Kenny Meyer; three brothers, Rick (Tina), Randy and Rusty (Kelly) and her beloved grandchildren, Oaklynn, Parker and Stella and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A Rosary service will be offered at 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be private in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Ryan Mortuary on Friday, August 18, 2023, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm that evening. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth’s Parish.

She was united in marriage to Tom Roesner.She is survived by her children, Colton (Samantha), Chase, and Alyssa (Steven) Anderson; her mother, Helen and stepfather, Kenny Meyer; three brothers, Rick (Tina), Randy and Rusty (Kelly) and her beloved grandchildren, Oaklynn, Parker and Stella and several nieces and nephews.A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A Rosary service will be offered at 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment will be private in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Franklin “Frank” Michael Massey, 12, died peacefully on August 3, 2023, surrounded by the love of his parents. He was born May 10, 2011, in Topeka, KS the last son of Sean and Michell (Radabaugh) Massey. He had just completed sixth grade.

He is survived by his parents, Sean and Michelle Massey; grandmother, Jonnie Massey, White City; two brothers, James, 25, Lincoln; John, 20, Salina; and sisters, Ann, 27, Abilene, Sarah, 23, McPherson and Tabatha, 13, Salina. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Nancy Radabauth, and grandpas, John Michael Radabaugh and Franklin D. Massey.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Darrell Eugene Betzner Sr., born January 4, 1954, in Concordia, Kansas. He passed away on July 31, 2023, in Salina, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his his parents, John A. Betzner and Dorothy Betzner (Anderson), grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd L. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Betzner, and nephew, Ryan Peltier.

Darrell is survived by his companion Charlene K. Scott (and family); sons Darrell E Betzner JR (Christina) of Brookville and Chase E Betzner (Amber) of Tescott; daughter Dawn J. Holmes (Bradley) of Hutchinson; brother John "Boomer" C. Betzner (Annette) of Scandia; sisters Ann Buresh (Ken Lukavsky) of Salina, Jan Jacobson (Karl) of Concordia, and Laurie Betzner of Concordia; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Darrell was a hardworking man who served as a Maintenance Supervisor at K-State for 23 years before retiring to spend more time with family and friends. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, watching family members race, going on long rides, and spending time with family and friends.

He inspired and encouraged many young kids as a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America. Darrell made sure that any child who was a Boy Scout was able to go to camp and was a leader to countless kids, challenging them to become the best version of themselves.&nbsp; He took pride in his Eagle Scout and Golden Eagle status and his Mic-O-Say membership and found great fulfillment as a member of the 3- Clans dance team. Darrell truly embodied the spirit of Scout Law, which says, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”

Darrell was an amazing man who touched the lives of all those he encountered. He had such an impactful presence while here on Earth, and we know, as a Scout, he is prepared for his next adventure.

Services to celebrate Darrell’s life will be held at the Brookville United Methodist Church, 114 W Anderson Street, Brookville Kansas, on Saturday, August 12, at 10 a.m.

Larry “Keith” Anderson, 84 passed away on August 6, 2023, after a short illness.&nbsp; He was born December 17, 1938 in Sheridan County, Kansas.&nbsp; He was the son of Bill and Ruth Shafer Anderson.&nbsp; After graduating from Sheridan County High School, Larry earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History from Fort Hays State University. &nbsp;

Larry and his family moved to Salina where he was a History Professor at Marymount College of Kansas and later the registrar at Marymount.&nbsp; Larry changed professions in 1979 and went to work in the airline industry until his retirement in 2008. &nbsp;

Larry is survived by his wife, Norma of 63 years; son, Rob (Pam); daughter, Mel LaBossiere; four grandsons, Brian (Christina), Kevin (Emily), Jean-Luc (Jenna) and Josh (Pennie); three great-grandchildren; sister, Kaye Hird (Carroll); and brother, Robert Anderson (Maxine).&nbsp; Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale Anderson.

Funeral services are Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10:30am at Emmanuel Church, 1325 E. Cloud, Salina, KS. Larry “Keith” Anderson

Roxanne K. Dupre, 70, of Salina, passed away, Friday, August 4th, 2023, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born in Salina, KS on June 8th, 1953.

She married Edmond Dupre on August 2nd, 1997. They had been happily married for 26 years.

Rocky worked for years at Hobby Lobby as the art department manager, and after retiring, took her creativeness to painting and working on her prized butterfly garden. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Rocky is preceded in death by her parents, Beverly Hicks and Rocky Lane; adopted father, Vernon Hicks; beloved children, Crystal and Chad; siblings, Tony, Christine, Scott, and Melodee; and great nephew, Tone.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie; daughter, Catrina; grandchild, Xan; siblings, Verna and Johnny; nephew, Chris; nieces, Shannon, Kelsey, and Kortney; and 11 great nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life announced at a later date.

In 1968, he invested in the Red Pussy Cat Club and became co-owner for ten years. He opened the Slipper Slide, a popular disco club with Helen. He later moved to Madison, KS, where he started his trucking Company, Cherokee Trucking, until his retirement.

Cremation was chosen and burial will be at a later date.

Susan D. (Kinney) Riordan passed away on July 3, 2023. The oldest of five children, Susan was born on October 12, 1947 to William and Mary (MacRae) Kinney in Atchison, Kansas. Her passion for creating visual art spanned her entire life and almost all media–fiber, watercolors, pastels, pen and ink, jewelry, photography, glass blowing, collage, puppetry and more. She often sold her pieces at the Salina River Festival and many other festivals across the midwest. In addition to visual art, Susan regularly attended the Iowa Writers Conference and was awarded her Masters in Poetry from Goddard College, culminating in the publication of her book of poetry 'I Wanted a Poem About Kansas.' She was a voracious reader who loved a good used bookstore and instilled both those loves in her children. Susan was married to Bill Riordan for over 50 years and worked as the art teacher for St. Mary’s Grade school, as well as in the Children’s Department of the Salina Public Library. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Kathy and Billie Jean, her beloved sister-in-law, Terry, and her grandson, Kurtis. She is survived by her sister, Randi, her brother, Philip, her nephews, and nieces, and by her four children, James, Mary, Ann, and Jennifer. Donations to honor Susan’s creativity may be made to the Salina Public Library and the Building Creatively Campaign at the Salina Art Center. Bill was the only child of Vincent and Sylvia (Long) Riordan, born October 23, 1948 at St. John’s Hospital in Salina. He lived with his parents in Solomon until the family relocated to the Riordan homestead in Saline County. From a young age, Bill demonstrated diverse talents, first as a classically trained pianist starting in childhood and then as a small aircraft pilot in young adulthood. A devout Catholic, Bill attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas where he met Susan Kinney, who became his dear wife of over 50 years. Bill majored in social work and worked briefly in related fields before settling into a lifetime of work for the Social Security Administration. He briefly worked for the SSA in Coffeyville and Independence before joining the SSA satellite office in Salina, where he and Susan raised their four children over two decades. Bill remained deeply connected to his family’s farming roots throughout his life. He loved old John Deere tractors and adopted several throughout his life, using them to help maintain the land his Irish immigrant ancestors homesteaded in the 19th century. He never met a chainsaw he didn’t like, nor a tool he didn’t need. He loved getting his hands dirty fixing things that were broken. He had the Irish gift of gab and was always ready with a story. Or two. Or three. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Susan, and his grandson, Kurtis. He leaves behind his four children, James, Mary, Ann, and Jennifer; as well as the many friends he made over the years. Cynthia was born on December 01, 1965 in Grand Island, NE to parents Joseph Wayne and Helen Jane Nealon Mudloff.

Worked in the hospitality industry as a baker/cook. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and doing crossword puzzles. She followed Nebraska Huskers football.

Preceded in death by: mother, Helen Mudloff; maternal grandparents, Maurice and Margaret Nealon; paternal grandparents, Peter Mudloff and Bernadine MudIoff.

Gabriel Tristen Mora, 27, of Salina, Kansas, passed away July 30th, 2023. He was born on May 24th, 1996, in Salina, KS, the son of Luis F. Mora and Kimberly K. Leiker.

Growing up, Gabe was always an adventurer who loved the outdoors, especially hiking, and riding horses at his grandparents’ house. He had a magnetic personality and never met a stranger. Gabe had an ear for music and a unique talent to play a variety of instruments well, and without any training. He enjoyed writing songs, playing guitar and piano. Gabe worked for Travelers of America and was training to become a Semi-mechanic. He was a gentle soul who would give anyone the shirt off his back.

Gabe was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Ronald Miller, Francisco and Delores Mora; and beloved childhood friend, Skylar Lewis.

Gabe is survived by his parents, Luis Mora, Kimberly Leiker &amp; Dave Riley; his Grandmother, Lula Miller; sisters, Amanda Moralez &amp; family, Katelyn Pancost Miller &amp; family, &amp; Jessica Hodges Moralez; brothers, Dalaney Roberts &amp; Aden Mora; cousin, Kayleigh Miller &amp; family as well as cousins, aunts and uncles.

George “Butch” E. Blosch, 77, of McPherson, KS, passed away on August 3, 2023, at home.

George was born on November 4, 1945, in Independence, IA, the son of Harry R. and Wilma E. (Brown) Blosch.&nbsp; He graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in Iowa.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On September 21, 1965, George was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Daleske in Eldora, IA.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Lori and Dyan. George and Ruth shared nearly 58 years of marriage together.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was employed at Femco Inc. and Kansas Jack in McPherson. He then retired from Future Foam in 2011 after 13 years of admired employment.

George belonged to the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, camping, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending much valued time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; two daughters, Lori Byington (Richard) of McPherson, KS and Dyan Chapin (Kyle) of Lyons, KS; three grandchildren, Emily Wills (Phillip) of Kansas City, KS, Eli Byington (Nicole) of McPherson, KS, and Tucker Chapin of Lyons, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harry Blosch, and sisters, Nancy Mitchell and Cathy Sease.

The memorial service will be held&nbsp;at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor David Kincaid officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sue Sudduth, age 61 went to with the Lord on August 4, 2023, after a long hard fight with cancer.

Sue was born on October 2, 1961, to Peter and Rose (Fritz) Kupchunos in Hartford, Connecticut.&nbsp;The family moved to California when Sue was 3 years old. She was a 1979 graduate of Gladstone High School in Azusa, CA

She proudly married her best friend, Phillip Sudduth on June 28, 1981, in Covina, California. They were married over 42 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;In the happy marriage, they adopted and raised 3 children and one grandchild.

Sue worked for the Sisters of St. Joseph at the Motherhouse as a CNA for 10 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was a member of the Crosspoint Church in Concordia.

Sue excelled at making their home beautiful. She was always working inside, or in the yard mowing or planting flowers. Whatever needed to be done, she was there. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Phil, her son Jack, daughters Jennifer and Carina, Granddaughter Melody and several grandchildren. Also, survived by two brothers Kenny Kupchunos of CA and Peter Kupchunos of Concordia. Many nieces and nephews, friends, and extended family.

Sue loved her family and friends and will be missed by all that knew her. &nbsp;

Visitation will be held from August 14,2023, from 9-11 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

Nathalie Ellene&nbsp;Mussemann&nbsp;of Hays, KS, formerly of WaKeeney, KS, passed away on August 3, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, at the age of 93. She was born on September 30, 1929, in WaKeeney to Clarence and Marie (Huber) Zeman. She married Frank&nbsp;Mussemann&nbsp;on November 23, 1948, in WaKeeney. They were blessed with four children: Dennis, Christine, Sharla, and Julie.

Nathalie grew up in WaKeeney and graduated from WaKeeney High School in 1947. She was the epitome of a farm wife and all it entails. After raising their&nbsp;children,she worked at the Dairy Queen and Bethlehem Lutheran Church as the Secretary.&nbsp;Following her retirement, Nathalie spent many hours enjoying the game of golf.&nbsp;She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Daughters, Big Creek Ladies Golf, and F.O.E. Auxiliary,&nbsp;all of&nbsp;WaKeeney. She&nbsp;loved&nbsp;playing cards, especially&nbsp;bridge&nbsp;and pinochle, and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Birthday celebrations always included Grams homemade ice cream and chocolate sheet cake.&nbsp;

Nathalie Ellene Mussemann

Kermit Gene Wedel, M.D., a family physician and community leader in Minneapolis, Kan., for six decades, died peacefully on July 27 at the age of 90. He is survived by four children and his wife of 69 years, Kathleen.&nbsp;

Kerm, the son of Arthur A. and Elizabeth K. Wedel, was born at the family farmhouse in McPherson County on July 28, 1932, shortly after his identical twin brother, Ken. He told of his life growing up on the farm. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in McPherson County and Moundridge High School. He then attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. On Oct. 16, 1953, he married Kathleen Zerger at Eden Mennonite Church in rural Moundridge. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine where his studies earned him selection into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.&nbsp;

Kerm spent an extra year as a surgical resident in Wichita after medical school and then joined Ken in practice in Minneapolis in 1962. Ken and Kerm worked mostly at the Minneapolis Clinic (Wedel, Wedel and Barker), two blocks from Kerm’s home on Fifth Street, where he and Kathleen would raise their growing family. Besides raising their children, the two opened their home to medical school preceptors, foreign exchange students and friends and neighbors for numerous themed events.&nbsp;

In addition to being a skilled physician, Dr. Wedel was a recognized leader in the medical profession. He served his profession in many capacities, including serving as President of the Kansas Medical Society in 1982-83. He also served as KMS’ principal delegate to the American Medical Association for two decades. Dr. Wedel served as an associate professor in family medicine for the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Other roles included Governor’s Commission on Healthcare and the Board of Blue Shield of Kansas. He served as Vice President for Medical Affairs at Asbury/ Salina Regional Health Center and on their Boards for many years. In his 18 years as a board member at the Kansas Health Foundation they approved $336 million in grants improving healthcare and healthcare access.

Jerry Slaughter of the Kansas Medical Society recently wrote: “It’s hard to condense down into one paragraph the contributions he made over many years, but without question, he was one of the most impactful physician leaders we have had. He was generous of his time, humble, pragmatic, cheerful, always positive, and never sought attention or recognition for his efforts on behalf of the profession he so ably represented.”

The same sentiment can be said for his many roles in the local community and area. He was one of four community members to travel to Colorado to secure the purchase of the land that would become Rock City Park. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, held many leadership positions and was a charter trustee of the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund. He served as member and chair of the USD 239 Board of Education, a founder of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, president of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce as well as the city council, including as mayor from 2016 to 2021. Later he enjoyed serving on the Rolling Hills Refuge Board for his close friend and travel companion, Charlie Walker.

Most people simply knew him as Kerm or Dr. Kerm – someone who would offer medical advice, a quick hug, or a smile and handshake on the street, or as he was grilling outside the alley entrance of the Blue Moon, the local “speakeasy” restaurant that he and Kathleen opened for Friday night dinners in 1997 and operated for over 20 years.&nbsp;

Upon their retirement in 2005, The Ottawa County Hospital memorialized Kerm and Ken’s service to the community by naming sections of the hospital in their honor.

In his leisure time, Kerm and Kathleen enjoyed watching KU football and basketball games and games in which their grandchildren played. One of his childhood memories was capturing pigeons in the barn of KU basketball player and later Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp near Halstead. He enjoyed all sports and occasionally said that if he hadn’t been a doctor he might have been a baseball umpire.&nbsp;

He loved spending time at the family’s cabin on Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas. This provided years of enjoyment for friends and for annual gatherings of all children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that was held each year and included teaching children, grandchildren and children of friends how to ski.

Kerm was preceded in death by his brother Delbert; his twin brother, Ken; and his sister, Leola. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; four children, Alan (Sandy) Wedel of Salina, Russ (Deb) Wedel of Hutchinson, Sonya (Mark) Siebert of Des &nbsp;Moines, IA and Mary (Mike) Mraz of Southold, NY; 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Pete) Stroer, Luke Wedel, Sarah (Derrick) Rowan, Kristin (Brian) McGuirk, Brett (Katrina Horner) Wedel, Emily (Ryker) Williams, Ben (Nina Pressman) Siebert, Matthew Siebert, Simon Mraz, Isaiah Mraz and Naomi Mraz; and six great-grandchildren, Isaac and Ethan Stroer, Elliot Wedel, Rose McGuirk, Jack Rowan and Mara Gene Siebert.&nbsp;

He was surprised and his heart was touched when after his 18 years of service on the board of the Kansas Health Foundation, the foundation presented a check for $25,000 to benefit the Ottawa County Community Foundation in his honor. Following the services at the church, everyone is invited to join the Wedel family for a celebration of Kerm's life and a lunch. It will be held at the Blue Store in downtown Minneapolis from Noon to 3:00 P.M.

 </figure> Kermit Gene Wedel, M.D., a family physician and community leader in Minneapolis, Kan., for six decades, died peacefully on July 27 at the age of 90. He is survived by four children and his wife of 69 years, Kathleen.&nbsp;Kerm, the son of Arthur A. and Elizabeth K. Wedel, was born at the family farmhouse in McPherson County on July 28, 1932, shortly after his identical twin brother, Ken. He told of his life growing up on the farm. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in McPherson County and Moundridge High School. He then attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. On Oct. 16, 1953, he married Kathleen Zerger at Eden Mennonite Church in rural Moundridge. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine where his studies earned him selection into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.&nbsp;Kerm spent an extra year as a surgical resident in Wichita after medical school and then joined Ken in practice in Minneapolis in 1962. Ken and Kerm worked mostly at the Minneapolis Clinic (Wedel, Wedel and Barker), two blocks from Kerm’s home on Fifth Street, where he and Kathleen would raise their growing family. Besides raising their children, the two opened their home to medical school preceptors, foreign exchange students and friends and neighbors for numerous themed events.&nbsp;In addition to being a skilled physician, Dr. Wedel was a recognized leader in the medical profession. He served his profession in many capacities, including serving as President of the Kansas Medical Society in 1982-83. He also served as KMS’ principal delegate to the American Medical Association for two decades. Dr. Wedel served as an associate professor in family medicine for the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Other roles included Governor’s Commission on Healthcare and the Board of Blue Shield of Kansas. He served as Vice President for Medical Affairs at Asbury/ Salina Regional Health Center and on their Boards for many years. In his 18 years as a board member at the Kansas Health Foundation they approved $336 million in grants improving healthcare and healthcare access.Jerry Slaughter of the Kansas Medical Society recently wrote: “It’s hard to condense down into one paragraph the contributions he made over many years, but without question, he was one of the most impactful physician leaders we have had. He was generous of his time, humble, pragmatic, cheerful, always positive, and never sought attention or recognition for his efforts on behalf of the profession he so ably represented.”The same sentiment can be said for his many roles in the local community and area. He was one of four community members to travel to Colorado to secure the purchase of the land that would become Rock City Park. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, held many leadership positions and was a charter trustee of the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund. He served as member and chair of the USD 239 Board of Education, a founder of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, president of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce as well as the city council, including as mayor from 2016 to 2021. Later he enjoyed serving on the Rolling Hills Refuge Board for his close friend and travel companion, Charlie Walker.Most people simply knew him as Kerm or Dr. Kerm – someone who would offer medical advice, a quick hug, or a smile and handshake on the street, or as he was grilling outside the alley entrance of the Blue Moon, the local “speakeasy” restaurant that he and Kathleen opened for Friday night dinners in 1997 and operated for over 20 years.&nbsp;Upon their retirement in 2005, The Ottawa County Hospital memorialized Kerm and Ken’s service to the community by naming sections of the hospital in their honor.In his leisure time, Kerm and Kathleen enjoyed watching KU football and basketball games and games in which their grandchildren played. One of his childhood memories was capturing pigeons in the barn of KU basketball player and later Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp near Halstead. He enjoyed all sports and occasionally said that if he hadn’t been a doctor he might have been a baseball umpire.&nbsp;He loved spending time at the family’s cabin on Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas. This provided years of enjoyment for friends and for annual gatherings of all children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that was held each year and included teaching children, grandchildren and children of friends how to ski.Kerm was preceded in death by his brother Delbert; his twin brother, Ken; and his sister, Leola. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; four children, Alan (Sandy) Wedel of Salina, Russ (Deb) Wedel of Hutchinson, Sonya (Mark) Siebert of Des &nbsp;Moines, IA and Mary (Mike) Mraz of Southold, NY; 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Pete) Stroer, Luke Wedel, Sarah (Derrick) Rowan, Kristin (Brian) McGuirk, Brett (Katrina Horner) Wedel, Emily (Ryker) Williams, Ben (Nina Pressman) Siebert, Matthew Siebert, Simon Mraz, Isaiah Mraz and Naomi Mraz; and six great-grandchildren, Isaac and Ethan Stroer, Elliot Wedel, Rose McGuirk, Jack Rowan and Mara Gene Siebert.&nbsp;He was surprised and his heart was touched when after his 18 years of service on the board of the Kansas Health Foundation, the foundation presented a check for $25,000 to benefit the Ottawa County Community Foundation in his honor. He asked the contribution be used as seed money for a Public Health Fund. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kerm’s memory can be made to the Public Health Fund of the Ottawa County Foundation.
