Karyn passed away at home March 10, 2024 at the age of 83. She was the last child born to Elmer L. and Hazel F. (Cratty) Krinhop. Karyn grew up on the family farm northeast of Chapman. She attended Chapman Grade School and graduated from D.C.C.H.S. in 1958. She was an honor student and received a Superior Rating for her performance at the Dickinson County Grade School Music Festival. She played the organ for the Scherer Memorial Lutheran Church for several years. After graduating, she would return every weekend to play for the church service. Her career began in the insurance field for Farm Bureau Insurance in Manhattan and continued after moving to Lawrence, Kansas. She married Robert B. Perry on December 24, 1961 (her parent's 35th wedding anniversary). They had two children, David and Susan. They later divorced. In 1976, she moved to Salina, Kansas and married Madison (Mac) Ashburn on March 19, 1976. He passed away in 2006. In 1981, Karyn went back to school and graduated in 1983 from Kansas Technical Institute with an Associate Degree in General Engineering Technology.

When she was younger she was an awesome bowler, winning many trophies and awards. She also spent her free time roller skating and square dancing with Mac. She enjoyed watching football, basketball, and Nascar. Her favorite teams included the University of Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs. Later in life, she became an avid reader. Karyn was always ready to volunteer for a good cause and spent endless hours helping others.

She is survived by her son, David (Cheryl) Perry, The Woodlands, Texas and her daughter, Susan Milholland, Hoisington, Kansas; Grandchildren, Jacquelyne, Kyle, Ryan, Kayn and Lane; 10 nephews and one niece; many great nephews and nieces; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Hazel, husband Mac, brothers Kenneth, Harvey, DeWain and sister Patricia, sister-in- laws Gladys, Joan, Caroline, brother-in-law Duane (Dewey), son-in-law Jeff, nephews Neil and Greg.

The funeral will be held at Ryan Mortuary (137 North Eighth Street, Salina, Kansas 67401) Tuesday, March 19th at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Indian Hill Cemetery, Chapman, Kansas. A visitation will be available also at Ryan Mortuary on Monday, March 18th from 4:00-8:00pm. Those wishing to donate to a memorial in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Interim Healthcare or the donor's choice.
