Mary Jane Belt July 22, 1939 ~&nbsp;April 20,2024

Mary Jane Belt, 84, of Salina, KS passed away April 20,2024. She was born in Salina on July 22, 1939 to Ralph and Mary Loader and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957 and attended Marymount College. She married Jerry Belt on September 1, 1958. Jane was a homemaker while raising her family and later worked for CB Announcements until her retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed flower gardening, and traveling. She played bridge in several local bridge groups and attended many tournaments including American Contract Bridge; which she attained Life Master and later on Silver Life Master. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Don Loader of Salina, KS. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry, her daughter Kathy of Salina, sons Dan (Pat) of Lakewood, CO and Tom (Angie) of Morrison, CO. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Sarah Guild (Kyle), Chad Belt (Kelcey), Amanda Mikel (Dylan) and Eric Belt (Taylor). She also has eight great- grandchildren: Brayden and Tinley Guild, Brooks and Ayla Belt, Fiona and Christian Mikel, and Asher and Joey Belt. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Loader, nephews Jim Loader (Michael), Jon Loader and a very special cousin and angel, Betty Yockers.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4-7:30 pm with rosary at 6pm at Ryan Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church.&nbsp;

Reita Pauline Brandt, 93, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born August 5, 1930, on a farm north of Republic, KS, to Archie and Nina (Fisher) Morehead. &nbsp;She received her education from Belleville High School.&nbsp;

Reita married Harold K. Brandt on December 5, 1946, in Belleville, KS later making a home in Salina, KS, She worked ten years for S.S.&nbsp;Kresge&nbsp;and was a nurse’s&nbsp;aid&nbsp;at Asbury Hospital for twenty-two years retiring in 1996. Reita later made moves to Newton, KS in 2002 and then to Phoenix, AZ in 2016.

Reita was preceded in death by her son Gearold Brandt, husband Harold Brandt, daughter Gloria Clifford, daughter Barbara Bunce, and several brothers and sisters.

Reita is survived by her son Troy Brandt (Lynne) of Peoria, AZ,&nbsp;granddaughter Aubrey Philip (Joel) of Grand Rapids, IA, grandson Landon Brandt of Hesston, KS, grandson Dalton Brandt of Wichita, KS, granddaughter Tracy Bunce of Salina, KS,&nbsp;Tamme Halpain (Melanie)<a></a>&nbsp;of NM,&nbsp;grandson Geary Clifford (Heather) of Lindsborg, KS and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Emmual Church, 1325 E. Cloud St., Salina, KS, 67401 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Church.

Arthur Andrew Hoch January 19, 1942 ~&nbsp;March 27, 2024

Arthur Andrew Hoch passed away March 27, 2024, at McPherson Hospital.&nbsp; He was born January 19, 1942, near Dwight, Kansas to Harry and Opal Engstrom Hoch.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Art graduated from Dwight High School in 1959 as valedictorian.&nbsp; He graduated cum laude from McPherson College in 1963 with Education and Sociology majors.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

On April 13, 1963, he married Karen Crain in Waka, Texas.&nbsp; He taught and coached at Buhler Elementary.&nbsp; Art graduated in 1966 from Emporia State with a masters in Elementary Administration.

He was Principal at Ashland, (where Mike was born) and Burlington elementary schools.&nbsp; Art, Karen and Mike moved back to McPherson in 1970 (where Scott was born).&nbsp; He sold insurance until he was asked to return to teaching.&nbsp; He taught 5th&nbsp;graders at Park and Roosevelt schools until 1992.

After 28 years in education, Art worked at The Cedars as Administrator for Independent Living, in charge of the (old) Cedars Towers and Cedars Village and helped new residents plan their homes in the Village, until his 2004 retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors are Karen; Mike, (Melanie), and Isabella; Scott, (Shanna), and Skylar (Gretchen), Foster, and Thatcher; Sisters-in-law Shirley Hoch and Patsy Hoch; Sister-in-law Mary Stephenson (Terry).&nbsp; He was predeceased by parents, and brothers Lowell, Don, and Willis.

Visitation is Friday,&nbsp;May 10, at Church of the Brethren, 5-7 pm. A Memorial Service for Art will be on Saturday,&nbsp;May 11, at 1:00 pm at the Church.

Craig&nbsp;H.&nbsp;Cook, age 71, entered into rest on Monday, April 15,&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;at his home in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on December 2, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Henry and Alice (Esson) Cook.

Craig graduated from&nbsp;high school&nbsp;in 1973 in Toronto Canada. &nbsp;He received his criminal justice degree from college in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.

He was&nbsp;a member of the Fellowship&nbsp;Christian Church in Concordia.&nbsp;He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Canada.

Craig&nbsp;worked for the&nbsp;Providence of Ontario&nbsp;Canada prison system as a prison guard for 27&nbsp;years and&nbsp;retired&nbsp;in 2005.

He enjoyed&nbsp;gambling, playing the slots, music, singing, whistling, playing the&nbsp;guitar, and piano.&nbsp;Most of all&nbsp;Craig&nbsp;loved spending time with his beloved family and friends.

Survivors include his&nbsp;wife&nbsp;Peggy Ballinger&nbsp;of the home, son, Mike Cook, son,&nbsp;Daniel Cook,son,&nbsp;John Ballinger and&nbsp;a&nbsp;daughter, Jesicca&nbsp;Leapaldt&nbsp;and&nbsp;their&nbsp;seven&nbsp;wonderful grandchildren.

He was preceded in&nbsp;death&nbsp;by&nbsp;his parents,&nbsp;and one brother.

Kenneth L. Henry, 81, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on&nbsp;April 11, 2024.

He served in the Army National Guard from Oct&nbsp;'61 to May '69.

Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Pam, his parents, Lawrence and Eva Henry, and Brother-in-law, Don Fritz. He is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Fritz and Joan Reed (husband Ron), three&nbsp;children, Cindi Miller (companion Joe ), Micheal Henry (wife Danielle), and Tamra Valencia;&nbsp;Nine grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Alyson, Autumn, Austin, Victoria, Tyler, Kaylee, and Joey. He also has Eleven great grandchildren.

Kenneth will always be remembered for his warm heart and witty sense of humor. As we continue life's journey, we carry his memory in our hearts, remembering his laughter, his kind heart, and the love he had for us all. May Kenneth Lawrence Henry, rest in eternal peace.

Joseph F. Wesley, 63, of Indiana, death reported on April 15th,&nbsp;2024&nbsp;from his home in Mt Vernon, Indiana.

He was born on November 19,1960 in Salina, Kansas, the son of Melvin Joe Wesley and Mary E.&nbsp;Wesley. His father, Melvin Joe&nbsp;Wesley, proceeded him in death.&nbsp;

He&nbsp;is&nbsp;survived by his mother Mary E.&nbsp;Wesley and 6 brothers and sisters, Lisa Storm (Robert Storm), Lori Wesley, Chris Wesley (Patty Wesley), Judith Wesley, Jim Wesley (Leslie&nbsp;Wesley), Bernadette Wesley&nbsp;“Sr.&nbsp;Mary Catherine”,&nbsp;and many nieces and nephews.

He lived his life with a smile. He never knew a stranger and loved story telling. Joe was always ready to go fishing, eat/cook a good meal, or cheer for his favorite Kansas sports teams. He was a committed bachelor.&nbsp;He will be missed by his Kansas family and his Catholic Church choir and friends. Joe is remembered for his High School sports success&nbsp;at Glasco High School.&nbsp;He served&nbsp;his country in the Army National Guard,&nbsp;worked with his father at the&nbsp;family-owned&nbsp;Joe’s Auto&nbsp;Mart, and working in construction, painting, and several&nbsp;factory jobs all with a broke back from a motorcycle accident when he was hit by a car 25 years ago when the car pulled out on a busy road and hit him. He was not supposed to walk again but as in sports he achieved much success and lived on&nbsp;his own.

Service is to be announced&nbsp;at a later date.&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Mary E. Wesley for funeral expenses.

Wayne W. Schultz, 74, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 in Kansas City, MO. He was born August 11, 1949 in Ellsworth, KS to Alfred and Madonna (Lyne) Schultz. Wayne was a lifetime resident of the Ellsworth area where he was a farmer and rancher and previously owned and operated Schultz Hardware and Welding in Lorraine, KS. He also served his country in the United States Navy. Wayne married Diann Lynn Kubick in Ellsworth on April 18, 1981. He was a member of the Ellsworth First Presbyterian Church, Brookville Saddle Club, and Odin Saddle Club.

Wayne is survived by his sister, Dianne Schultz of Ellsworth; nephew Dale Warren of Ellsworth; niece, Pamela Ames of Anacoco, LA; a great nephew; two great nieces; one great-great nephew; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Diann; and sisters, Darlene Schultz and Lois Warren.

Visitation: 4-8 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Parsons Funeral Home of Ellsworth. Family will be present to greet visitors 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024 at Ellsworth First Presbyterian Church with burial following at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.

Linda Kay Pfeiffer, beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on April 19, 2024, in Salina, Kansas. She was born on December 23,1961, to Roscoe and Carol McMurdo. Linda’s departure has left a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.

In 1986, Linda exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Mark L. Pfieffer at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their union was a testament to their love and commitment to each other, creating a bond that would withstand the tests of time.

Linda’s journey through life was marked by her dedication to her work and her unwavering spirit. She began her career at the front desk of the Salina Journal, where she exhibited professionalism and a strong work ethic. In 1999, she rose to the position of Pre-Press Supervisor, showcasing her leadership skills and attention to detail. In her final years, she worked at CherryRoads out of Hutchinson, Kansas as a Pre-Press Productions expert, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the industry.

Outside of her professional life, Linda found solace and joy in her hobbies and interests. She had a passion for crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and talent. Additionally, she cherished her visits to Branson, Missouri, where she delighted in watching musical shows and exploring the sights of the area. These experiences brought her immense happiness and allowed her to unwind from the demands of daily life.

Linda is survived by her husband, Mark, her brothers, Bob (Debbie) Doug (Ami), and Ron (Jennifer), as well as her nieces and nephews, who meant the world to her. Their love and support sustained Linda through life’s challenges and brought her moments of joy and laughter.

A celebration of life to honor Linda, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th, St., Salina, KS. Mark suggests donations be made to Gentiva Hospice or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center of Salina, two organizations that were close to Linda’s heart.

Linda Kay Pfieffer will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Joyce Ann Sipe, age, 84, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Leonardville Nursing Home, Leonardville, KS. &nbsp;She was born on February 16, 1940 in Wilson, OK to Wesley Dennis &amp; Mary Ola (Byram) Latham.

She attended Wilson High School and earned her GED in 1984. &nbsp;She married Robert (Bob) Sipe on December 25, 1955 in Wilson, Oklahoma

Joyce was a homemaker, waitress and secretary for State Farm Insurance in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, making corsages and flower arranging. &nbsp;She was a member of the ESA Sorority &amp; Oklahoma Square Dancing Association. &nbsp;She was an excellent cook &amp; pie maker, she enjoyed bowling, square dancing and helping others. &nbsp;She also enjoyed traveling and “taking trips”.

Joyce is survived by her sons: Gary Sipe (Jody) Clyde, KS; Dennis Sipe (LaRita), Kingfisher, OK; Rick Sipe, Kingston, OK; Jim Sipe (Debbie) Elk City, OK; her grandchildren: Jerry Sipe (Alisha), Laurie Boarts (Jason), Lacey Copeland (Levi), Mitchell Sipe (Whitney), Dana Joyner (Sharee), Chris Sipe (Rachel) ; great grandchildren: &nbsp;Emma Copeland, Ty Joyner, Chase Boarts, Apollo Joyner, Ethan Boarts, Rhett Sipe, Makynlee Copeland, Ellie Copeland, Stryker Sipe, Davyn Joyner, Rory Sipe, Elliott Sipe, Saylor Sipe, Benjamin Sipe, Reece Sipe, Easton Joyner, Charlotte Sipe, Ean Caywood, Colton Lee (Violet), Payton Lee, and one due in July and many nieces &amp; nephews.

Lonelva Marie Morrison, 93, lifetime resident of Saline County, passed away Thursday, April 18th, 2024.

Loni was born in Salina, Kansas on August 2, 1930, a daughter of Eunice Beryl (Montgomery) and Frank A. Hill.

On September 17, 1950, Lonelva married Wendell Morrison in Salina and lived their entire married life on the family farm in Saline County.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Woker (Arnie), of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Dave Morrison (Beth), of Salina, Gary Morrison, of Clarksville, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Chris Woker (Kathy), Joy Marts (Kevin); 2 step grandchildren, Stuart Ross (Priscilla), David Ross (Jill); 3 great grandchildren, 3 great step grandchildren; and 2 great great step grandchildren.

Loni is also survived by her brother, Frank E. Hill, Jr. (Beverley), of Red Stone, Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Wendell Morrison.

Loni’s wishes were to be cremated and she did not want any services.

Edith Marlene Garrabrant June 16, 1931 ~ April 9, 2024

Edith Marlene Garrabrant&nbsp;was born on June 16, 1931 in Salina, Kansas to Edith A. and Harold W. Johnson. She was raised in Kansas and was always proud of her Swedish heritage and home state. She loved sunflowers.

As a teenager Marlene enjoyed working summers at Green Mountain Ranch in Rocky Mountain National Park.&nbsp; While she was working in Denver she met Fred Garrabrant (who was in the Air Force at Lowry) and they married on November 15, 1953.

They moved to Fred’s hometown in New Jersey and lived there raising Duane and Lynn. Marlene was in personnel for the Department of the Navy. Fred was a police officer in the town they lived in, Tinton Falls. The family went on many fun camping trips in the northeast and in Colorado as well. The trips west always included a stop in Salina to see Marlene’s mother Edith and brother Stanley.

After their children finished college in Colorado, Marlene and Fred finally returned to Denver. Marlene worked in administration for the Air Force at Martin Marietta in Littleton. Eventually they moved to Estes Park. They loved the beauty and peacefulness of Estes. They enjoyed the elk and deer in their yard (but Fred had to build fences to protect the flowers and trees).

Marlene was a kind and thoughtful person who was a good friend, neighbor, and relative.&nbsp; She enjoyed attending the many reunions of her Swedish cousins. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She commented once she didn’t know how she had time for all that.

In their retirement Marlene and Fred traveled around the country and especially enjoyed going to Hawaii. They also enjoyed being close to their son Duane and his wife Jean and not too far from daughter Lynn, husband Peter, and granddaughter Leah in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

After Fred passed away 3 years ago, Marlene moved to Santa Fe to an assisted living facility. Lynn visited almost every day. Marlene was an excellent person, wife, and supportive mother and will be dearly missed.&nbsp; Rest in peace Mom.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday April 19, 2024 at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, Smolan.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Dee, of the home; daughters, Renee Moritz of Hays, and Julie Wassenberg of Marquette; stepchildren, Tami Stone of Gladstone, MO, Matt Hertig of Lawrence, and Tara Hertig of Bennington; five grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and brothers, Donald Wassenberg of Marysville, Chris Wassenberg of Reno, NV, and David Wassenberg of Salina.

Ronnie Wayne Stacy&nbsp;went to be with his Lord and savior March 21, 2024. He was born July 19, 1947, in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Ronnie was in the US Army from 1970 to 1972 and served in Vietnam. Along with his wife, Ara “Lee” Ritter, he was a member and soldier of the Salvation Army, and they maintained their active involvement until age made their service no longer possible. In their later years, he assisted his wife in selling her embroidery work at bazaars and fund raisers.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Lee, who passed away in 2014 after 26 years of marriage, his parents, Vernie Stacy and Della (Beeks) Stacy and his siblings.

He is survived by his stepson, Willie Morris and numerous family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.

Gladys Louise Reid passed away on April 17, 2024 at the age of 96.&nbsp; Gladys was born on February 9, 1928, in Westmorland, Kansas. Gladys and her family moved to Osage City, Kansas at the age of 2. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1946 and was the Salutatorian of her class.&nbsp;

Gladys enrolled at the College of Emporia, where she met Lewis. They were married on August 29, 1948 in Osage City, Kansas. They moved to Topeka, Kansas where Gladys worked for Kansas State Corporation Commission, while Lewis attended Pharmacy School at the University of Kansas. They had 3 daughters, Marsha Ann, Sharon Louise, and Deborah Sue. Gladys and Lewis were charter members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Topeka, Kansas. They resided in Topeka for 13 years before moving to Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;

Lewis opened Key Rexall Drug in Salina, Kansas in 1961. Also, in 1961, they joined Sunrise Presbyterian Church and have been active members since that time. Gladys was a homemaker and did some bookkeeping and payroll for Key Rexall Drug. She was a tireless volunteer, a home room mother, and active in PTA at Grace E. Stewart school. She served many roles at Sunrise Presbyterian Church including Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, and was active in the Women’s group. She delivered Meals On Wheels for many years and was also a Girl Scout leader. Gladys loved to play bridge and was active in many bridge groups. She and Lewis enjoyed dancing and were members of a dance group.&nbsp;

She and Lewis loved to travel. They visited all 50 states and their Capitols. They also made many trips abroad, including Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, Panama Canal and many countries in Europe. Gladys and Lewis also went on a mission trip to Guatemala.

Gladys was so proud of her family and they were extremely important to her. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Harry C. and Grace Gladys Ford, and her two brothers, Harry Ford and Charles Ford. She is survived by her husband, Lewis F. Reid, three daughters, Marsha (Jerry) Franklin, Sharon (Larry) Rauschenbach and Deborah (Ron) Mountsier, seven grandchildren, Jason (Suzi) Franklin, Sarah (Brian) Gisick, Ashley (Mike) Greaving, Lauren (Chris) Schekorra, Cliff (Beth) Mountsier, Maggie (Ethan) Gechter, Andrew Mountsier, and 12 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at Sunrise Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. A private family graveside service will be held at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Stewart Graves 58 of Salina passed away March 12, 2024 at the Salina Regional Health Center. Stewart was born January 2, 1966 the son of Eldon and Naomi Graves in Junction City, Kansas. Stewart grew up in Abilene and attended High School in the Class of 1984. Stewart obtained some college credits.

Stewart worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as a mechanic foreman in the Salina District. Stewart was a fun loving soul and the highlight in his life was his daughter Lydia and granddaughter Willow as well as his motorcycle.

Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Vincent Graves. Stewart is survived by his daughter Lydia Graves of Salina, his granddaughter Willow Higgins and his brother Kenneth Graves of Salina.

Funeral services for Stewart will be Monday April 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Michel’s Church 210 E. 6th Street Chapman, Kansas. Stewart's final resting place will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery rural Chapman. The family suggests rather than flowers please consider contributing to the Willow Higgins education fund in his memory. Betty Seibel passed away at Village Manor on April 18, 2024. She was born on May 31, 1927, in Abilene, Kansas, to Ralph and Mary (Daniels) Stillie. Her childhood was spent in Abilene, where she attended local schools, graduating from Abilene High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, Lloyd Seibel, on February 16, 1947, in the First Baptist Church. Shortly after marriage, the couple moved close to Lloyd’s brother in California, where they lived most of their married life. She and Lloyd enjoyed traveling including many trips to Las Vegas, and sightseeing in the US, Canada and Europe. Betty worked for Pacific Telephone Company, retiring after 34 years.

After her husband’s death, and being away more than 40 years, she moved back to Abilene. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; brother, Andrew; sisters Phillis, Marie and Lois; cousins Helen Farley and Leonard Daniels. She is survived by her son Charles and wife Maria of Palm Springs, California and her lifelong friend, Gayle Dautel of Wichita.

Mary Frances (Larson) Tillberg December 12, 1941 ~ April 14, 2024

Mary (Larson) Tillberg died peacefully surrounded by family at Sun Center in Mayville, ND on April 14, 2024.

Mary Frances Larson was born December 12, 1941 to Berthold “O.B.” and Frances (Dahlsten) Larson in San Antonio, TX. After WWII ended and her father returned from serving in England, her family settled in McPherson, Kansas. She attended McPherson public schools and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Luther League. Through her family and church, she developed her love of music and serving others.

While in high school, she attended a Luther League Convention in Chicago, IL, and met her future husband. Despite an early mix-up with brothers’ names, Mary and Eldon continued dating through high school and college.

After graduating from McPherson High School in 1959, she attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS, for two years and then went to Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, NE, to become a Registered Nurse. During this time, she became engaged to Eldon.&nbsp; Having promised her parents that Mary would finish nurse’s training before getting married, Eldon and Mary were married on August 29, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson, KS, 30 days after she graduated from Immanuel. She studied for her nursing boards on their honeymoon to Lake Ida and Lake Itasca, MN. A year later, she finished her Bachelor of Science from Bethany College.

Eldon and Mary first made their home near Hedville, Kansas. Into this union were born two children, Bruce Eldon and Julie Marie. In 1967, they moved southwest of Smolan and raised their children there. They felt welcomed into the Smolan/Salemsborg/Falun community and forged deep roots in that community. In 2004, they fulfilled a longtime dream and built a home with beautiful views to the East and West on a hill in a pasture they owned north of Smolan.

Mary worked at Asbury Hospital in Salina before having children. When Bruce and Julie were in elementary school, she returned to Asbury Hospital which became Salina Regional Health Center. Throughout Mary’s career, caring for patients gave her a sense of fulfillment.

Mary enjoyed serving Salemsborg Lutheran Church through WELCA women’s groups, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Evangelism and Outreach Committee, choir, and handbell choir. She enjoyed singing hymns, anthems, and other songs and passed that love on to her children. She encouraged them to learn musical instruments in school. Mary and Eldon never missed any of the numerous grade school operettas, musicals, band, orchestra, and vocal concerts from grade school through high school. Following in her father’s footsteps, she sang in the Bethany Oratorio Society Messiah Festival when in college and then again in later years. She enjoyed gathering with friends and family for birthdays and other occasions, and regularly played Mexican Train Dominoes with a group of life-long friends.

Even though Mary and Eldon did not pressure their children for grandchildren, they were thrilled when first, John Luke, and then, Lilie, were born. They made the trek up north to see their grandchildren as often as they could, and in these last months, enjoyed seeing them much more frequently and attending school functions.

Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Eldon, Mayville, ND; a son, Bruce (Jerry Hicks), Westlake, OH; a daughter, Julie (John Pederson), Mayville, ND; two grandchildren, John Luke and Lilie “Pluto” Pederson, Mayville, ND; a brother, David (Elsa) Larson, Lincoln, NE; brothers-in-law, Arnold (Ann) Tillberg, Howard Richards, Vernon (Jeri) Tillberg, and Gordon (Gloria) Tillberg; sisters-in-law Vivian (Darrell) McCulley and Rhonda Tillberg; honorary grandchildren, Cara Camac, Jessica Rawson, and Clinton MacDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Berthold and Frances Larson; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Rosalind Tillberg; sister-in-law, Elda Jean Richards; and brother-in-law, Leland Tillberg.

The family will be present at the Visitation on Sunday, April 21, 5 PM to 8 PM at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, KS.

The funeral service will be Monday, April 22, 2 PM at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, Smolan, KS, with burial following at the Salemsborg Cemetery.

James (Jim) Lane Koch January 27, 1962 ~ March 31, 2024

James (Jim) Lane Koch, age 62, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2024. Jim was born on January 27, 1962 in Larned, KS to the late Robert (Bob) and Mary Koch. He graduated from Salina Central High in 1980.

During and after high school Jim worked at Key Mars Restaurant where he met his beloved wife Marje. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2023. They were married for 37 years. 

Jim was a loving father to his daughter Darcy (Frank) Kelly, but most of all he loved being "Papa" to his only grandchild Emma Kelly.

Jim drove delivery trucks for several companies before beginning employment with Air Gas in 1999 filling gas tanks. His career ended as a Cryogenic Technician Bulk Gas Installation Specialist after 25 years with the company.

Jim is also survived by siblings Diane (Koch) Mannebach, Nada (Kennan) Ingalsbe, Robert "Bob" (Gena) Koch and Claudine (Jeff) Smit&nbsp; and many nieces, nephews and revered friends.

A memorial service will be held June 8 at First Christian Church 2727 E Crawford, Salina KS, at 2:00 p.m.

Lorene Helen Chanay Stockard, Princeton, KS was born on November 16, 1932 to Artie and Helen (King) Chanay, in Lawrence, KS. She attended Wellsville High School graduating in 1950. She grew up attending Wellsville Baptist Church, where she was then baptized in 1944. Lorene and Melvin Stockard were united in marriage on May 18, 1952 at the Wellsville Baptist Church. They moved to rural Princeton, where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church since 1953. Three children were born to this union, Ronald Keith, Rodney Dale, and Lori Diane. Lorene's first job was at Eddie's Casual Shoppe. She was a bookkeeper at Princeton Grain Company, which she and Melvin owned for 17 years. She also did bookkeeping for New Life Trucking and Franklin County Rural Water District. She was a Longaberger Consultant for 16 years. Lorene held many responsibilities while attending the Richmond United Methodist Church including being President of UMW, founder of JOY group, and participated in many mission trips by sharing the gospel through Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Chapter for 60 years reaching the degree of Xi Masters. Lorene is survived by her children, Ronald (Karla) Stockard, and Lori (Larry) Brockus. Eight grandchildren, Jeremy Brockus, Lucas (Heather) Brockus, Lynsey (Corey) Ellis, Ryan Stockard, Kala (Jake) Gill, Katelyn (Austin) Durst, Olivia Stockard, and Paige Stockard. She was a Great Grandmother to twelve and Great-Great Grandmother to four, and had a special Swedish granddaughter, Maria Larsson. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ryburn, and brother, Larry (Julia) Chanay, brother-in-law, Bernard Stovall, and sister-in-laws, Helen and Betty Chanay. Lorene is proceeded in death by her husband of 60 years, Melvin Stockard; son, Rodney Stockard; grandson, Kristopher Stockard; parents, Artie and Helen Chanay; brothers, Merle, Keith, Marlin Chanay; sister Leila Stovall. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Ottawa Bible Church, Ottawa, KS. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, KS. Becky Lenae Bailey, 58, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at her home outside of Ellsworth, KS. She was born August 14, 1965 in Ellsworth to Jimmy Joe Morris and Karen (Rollet) Petty. Becky married John Bailey in Kanopolis, KS on July 14, 1985. She was a Registered Nurse at the Ellsworth Clinic for many years and a secretary at the Ellsworth County Appraiser’s Office and later for TK Company.

Becky is survived by husband John Bailey of Ellsworth; sons, Tyler Bailey (Keegan) of Beloit, KS and Kristofer Bailey (Jade Shirack) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Isabell, Cooper, and Kaiden Bailey and Savannah and Kit Bailey; stepmother Vicki Morris; stepfather Jerry Petty; sister LeAnn Ploutz (Darrell) of Kanopolis; brothers, Bret Morris (Betsy Miller) of Wichita, KS and Lance “Shab” Morris (Val) of Lyons, KS; two stepbrothers; three stepsisters; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pamela Swindler.

Pearlie Lee Storper, 71, of Salina, died on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at the Smoky Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salina, Kansas.

She was born on June 23, 1952 in Abilene, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Nora (Burkhart) Lobdell. Pearlie was raised in Salina and attended Salina Central High School.

She married Pete Storper and were later divorced. Pearlie loved her dogs and she was always a joy to be around.

Survivors include her son Daniel Lobdell of Ellsworth, Kansas, special friend, Carl Frenzen.&nbsp; Several brothers and sisters.&nbsp;As well as Kim Rayas who has taken care of Pearlie the past few years.
