William “Bill” Walter Weber passed away peacefully on September 14, 2020 in Ellsworth, KS. He was born December 5, 1928, in Springfield, Missouri, to Walter “Buck” Weber and Lois Gannaway Weber. The oldest of four siblings, Bill spent time “raising” them all.

He graduated from Wellsville High School, Wellsville, KS, in 1946 and attended Kansas State University receiving a degree in music education. He met the love of his life, Lois Lee Eggers at K-State, and they later married on May 28, 1952.

Bill then enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years and served as a gunnery officer on the U.S.S. Essex during the Korean War.

Bill returned home to teach elementary music education for 35 years, receiving his master’s degree in music from Wichita State University in 1965. The last twenty-two years of that career were spent at Ellsworth Elementary. An avid square dancer, many of his former students remember Friday square dancing in Mr. Weber’s music room. Bill was a master of many instruments, played the piano almost every day of his life, and sang for many occasions.

After moving to Holyrood in 1969, Bill began farming. His legacy included husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, teacher, farmer, stockman, and stock market mogul. Rest in peace, Dad. You have earned it.

He was loved by many including his wife Lois of 68 years; his sister, Jean (Tim) Randles of Fort Scott, KS; two sons, David (Debbie) of Holyrood, KS and Tim (Connie) of Bushton; six grandchildren, Nick Pauley, Sean (Krissy) Weber, Paul (Shelle) Weber, Matt (Kristen) Weber, Meredith Musil and Marshall (Taylor) Musil and eight great grandchildren, Ryan and Jada Pauley, Raylan, Ava, and Mia Weber, Brooks Weber, and Sloane and Madden Musil.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Greg and Jim Weber, and his daughter-in-law, Sarah.

Roy Lester Lawrence, age 79, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born January 23, 1941 in Concordia, Kansas to Charles and Jennie (Jack) Lawrence.

On June 13, 1965 he married Donna Marie Waite in Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp;

Roy was a truck driver all his life driving for Fairmont, Frito Lay, Boogaarts, Scrivner, Concordia Brick Plant, and was Pick-Pack hauler.

He enjoyed watching TV but most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Donna Lawrence, Concordia, KS; Roy Lawrence (Charlotte), Clyde, KS; son, Willie Lawrence (Karla), Concordia, KS; Travis Lawrence (A.J.), Sheridan, WY; sister, Laura Christensen (Damon), Concordia, KS; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jennie, 2 sisters, Bertha Fraser and Ada Johnson.

Visitation will be held 1:00 to 5:00 Monday, September 21, 2020 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Judy Day, loving wife and mother, went to be with her Lord at the age of 75. Judy was born September 22, 1944, in Rock Island , IL to Morris and Winifred Muhleman. She graduated from Rock Island High School and married Allen Day, who was by her side when she passed away. Al and Judy celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this year. Together they raised three boys, Jerry, Tim and Pete, while living in seven different states.

Judy and Al considered Abilene, KS, home after moving there in 1977. Their home on 8th Street was a gathering place for many high school students, as Judy had the gift of hospitality and great cooking skills. After Judy and Al helped start Community Bible Church in Abilene, Judy enjoyed working in the children’s ministry. She also enjoyed her role as an elementary school reading aide at Garfield Elementary.

Judy is survived by her husband, Allen, of Rogers, AR, son Jerry and his wife, Alise, of Oklahoma City, OK, son Tim and wife, Sarah, of Gilbert, IA, and son Pete and wife, Kristin, of Rogers, AR. She is survived by ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends in several states.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, from 4:30-7:30pm at Community Bible Church, 1400 N. Cedar, Abilene, KS. Those attending are asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

A private funeral will be held September, 26. The funeral will be live streamed on the Community Bible Church facebook page. Also, the service will be able to be viewed on the church website at www.cbiblec4me.com on September 28. Troy Leon Rawson, 71, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, September 10, 2020.  He was born April 21, 1949 in Walter Reed General Hospital, Washington D.C.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Rawson and Billie Joyce (Lynch) Rawson and his beloved sister Joyce Elaine Wise. 

 Leon is survived by his wife of 30yrs, Terre (McRae) Rawson, his son Troy (Genevieve) Rawson Jr. of Novato, CA; and his daughter Bobi Lee (Jason)Dearinger of Severn, MD.  Surviving siblings include 5 brothers and 2 sisters:  David (Debra) Rawson of Petaluma, CA; Thomas Ray (Roberta) Rawson of Whitehall, MT; Philip (Missy) Rawson of Anderson, CA; Larry (Hui) Rawson of Rohnert Park, CA; Debbie (David) Adams of Petaluma, CA; Cathy (Joel) Casazza of Petaluma, CA; and, Stephen (Barbara) Rawson of Kaufman, TX.  Surviving mothers of Leon’s precious son and daughter are Janis (Showalter) Menicucci of Santa Rosa, CA (Troy’s mom); and Linda Vaughn of Cotati, CA (Bobi’s mom).   

Surviving Grandchildren are Ryan, Kai &amp; Alana Maria of Novato, CA and Connor Uth of AZ.  Surviving also are many nieces and nephews, too many to name.  As a man who was so into his family, he cherished the contact and was often found texting and face-booking at all hours with them.  Special mention is made of Leon’s nephew, Kenny (Tracy) Wise of TX, who arrived to assist with preparations.

Leon was a 1967 graduate of Petaluma High School, Petaluma, CA.  He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Paul Revere as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class.  After serving his country, he returned to work as a machinist for KVAL Machinery.  This was a career that began at age 16, when he was hired to sweep up the scrap shavings.  It was interrupted with his naval service and then ended years later at age 67 after serving multiple positions for the company as Journeyman, Plant Manager, and ultimately traveling machinist.   He was often referred to as “Leon the Legend” and on the date of his departure for Kansas, the KVAL family threw a party and noted that “Leon the Legend” had left the building.  He retired on 6/30/2017 from this company, who had become an extension of his own family over many years.  

One will never find someone more patriotic than Leon Rawson.  He loves this country and the many freedoms that it provides.  He has always been an avid outdoorsman, family man, provider and just a person that makes you feel better about the person that you are.

Beverly Ruth Wiebe—Bev—was born March 13, 1956, in Kajiji, in the Belgian Congo, to Arthur and Ella Voth Wiebe. Art built schools and clinics and maintained mission vehicles, while Ella, a nurse, provided health care and education to the people and their children in the region. With the advent of a revolution, in 1960, that would free Congo from Belgian colonial rule, the Wiebe family flew home to the United States. Four-year-old Bev, looking out the window of their airplane as they flew across the US, saw clouds below and thought they were on the ground, “but someone moved all the clouds when we landed.” Flying with Bev were her sister, Janice, and her brother, Carl, both of them born in the Congo. Another brother, Dale, flew with them unseen. He would be born in Garden City, Kansas, where Bev’s Wiebe grandparents and her Uncle Ted were farmers. At home in “Garden,” the family welcomed two more boys, Glenn and Virgil.

The Garden Valley Mennonite Brethren Church, a new congregation founded the year before Bev’s family left the Congo, became a central part of Bev’s early life. There she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was nurtured by Sunday School classes and Sunday worship services. She also learned the ministry of compassion from her parents, who welcomed people of all kinds into their home. On Sundays, the dinner table was often expanded to include guests invited to join the Wiebe family of eight. As the oldest of six children, and with her mother working as a nurse and her father working for the State of Kansas to provide services for the blind, Bev took more than her share of responsibility for her siblings and chores around the house. She carried that sense of responsibility throughout her life, along with a duty to care for people in need, especially children.

Bev’s concern for children led her, first, to pursue a teaching career. She began her own education at Georgia Matthews Elementary School, in Garden City, and Garden City Junior High, before graduating from Garden City High School, in 1974. For the next four years she studied at Tabor College, in Hillsboro, Kansas, majoring in elementary education. She began teaching first graders the following year. Her experience as a teacher led Bev to consider school children in relation to their families, and this led her to a different vocation. In 1982, Bev began a program at Kansas State University in Child and Family Development, earning a Master of Arts degree in 1985. Her degree focused on marriage and family therapy. Upon graduating, Bev moved to Reba Place, in Evanston, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. There she began a counseling service with John Lehman where, as in every dimension of her life, Bev strived to integrate her faith with her work.

In 2000, Bev returned to Kansas and her beloved Flint Hills to begin a family-therapy practice in collaboration with John Lehman in Florence, Kansas. While Bev counseled children and their parents, her deep desire for children of her own went unfulfilled until she adopted a newborn, Michael Christopher, in 2002. Soon after, Bev moved her practice and family to Hesston, Kansas, where Lisa, her adoptive cousin, joined them. Lisa, who had Down Syndrome, came to live with Bev and Michael when her parents, Nettie and Ted, could no longer care for her. Lisa lived happily with Bev and Michael until her death in May 2019, 30 years later than doctors had predicted.

Bev’s life included crushing disappointments and pain, concern for which she waved away to talk about others whose circumstances were worse. She worried that her contributions to people’s lives were not truly significant, despite the host of people who have testified to the significance of her role in their lives; for some, she was lifesaving. Although some of Bev Wiebe’s life dreams were not realized, in her life too-soon ended, she enriched more lives than would take two lifetimes.

In every chapter of her life, Bev maintained a keen sense of humor, an eye for the simple beauty of God’s creation, and a fierce love for Michael and the rest of her family. In Evanston, she created intricate mobiles that brought the delicate balance of the Flint Hills prairie to her home, and she pressed flowers to decorate hand made and heartfelt cards to her friends and family. A keeper of the land and protector of nature, she grew a prairie paradise around her own home, tending her garden with dear friends like Cindy Combs and Lorna Harder.

Even as her body’s strength faded, her indomitable spirit remained.

She leaves behind her son, Michael, as well as her five siblings and their families: Janice and Ben Ollenburger, Mary, Katherine and her husband Michael Chester; Carl and Marcella Wiebe, Daniel; Dale and Elizabeth Wiebe, Aaron and Nathan; Glenn and Maura Wiebe, Jake and Erin; and Virgil Wiebe and Susan Schmidt, Maggie and Lucas. She goes to join Lisa; her parents, Art and Ella; her aunts and uncles. May they find perfect peace.

There she began a counseling service with John Lehman where, as in every dimension of her life, Bev strived to integrate her faith with her work.In 2000, Bev returned to Kansas and her beloved Flint Hills to begin a family-therapy practice in collaboration with John Lehman in Florence, Kansas. While Bev counseled children and their parents, her deep desire for children of her own went unfulfilled until she adopted a newborn, Michael Christopher, in 2002. Soon after, Bev moved her practice and family to Hesston, Kansas, where Lisa, her adoptive cousin, joined them. Lisa, who had Down Syndrome, came to live with Bev and Michael when her parents, Nettie and Ted, could no longer care for her. Lisa lived happily with Bev and Michael until her death in May 2019, 30 years later than doctors had predicted.Bev’s life included crushing disappointments and pain, concern for which she waved away to talk about others whose circumstances were worse. She worried that her contributions to people’s lives were not truly significant, despite the host of people who have testified to the significance of her role in their lives; for some, she was lifesaving. Although some of Bev Wiebe’s life dreams were not realized, in her life too-soon ended, she enriched more lives than would take two lifetimes.In every chapter of her life, Bev maintained a keen sense of humor, an eye for the simple beauty of God’s creation, and a fierce love for Michael and the rest of her family. In Evanston, she created intricate mobiles that brought the delicate balance of the Flint Hills prairie to her home, and she pressed flowers to decorate hand made and heartfelt cards to her friends and family. A keeper of the land and protector of nature, she grew a prairie paradise around her own home, tending her garden with dear friends like Cindy Combs and Lorna Harder.Even as her body’s strength faded, her indomitable spirit remained.She leaves behind her son, Michael, as well as her five siblings and their families: Janice and Ben Ollenburger, Mary, Katherine and her husband Michael Chester; Carl and Marcella Wiebe, Daniel; Dale and Elizabeth Wiebe, Aaron and Nathan; Glenn and Maura Wiebe, Jake and Erin; and Virgil Wiebe and Susan Schmidt, Maggie and Lucas. Larry Neal Atkinson, 66, of Mcpherson, Kansas, passed away at 12:43 p.m., Monday, September 14th, 2020 peacefully at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas.

Larry was born in McPherson, Kansas on February 27, 1954, a son of Charles Cornelius and Minnie Elizabeth (Chalmers) Atkinson.

Larry attended Lincoln Elementary School, Park School, McPherson Junior High School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1972. He then attended Hutchinson Junior College, Hutchinson, Kansas.

He was baptized into the Christian faith at the First Methodist Church McPherson.

Through the years Larry worked as a police officer, firefighter, chimney sweep business owner and nurse all in McPherson, Kansas, he was also a security guard for the Wichita Eagle Beacon, Wichita, Kansas.

Larry was a member of The American Legion Post 24 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715.

Larry enjoyed fishing, woodworking, being Larry the Clown and Scootin Larry during the May Day Parade, traveling to more then 23 foreign countries and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother, Minnie Atkinson, of McPherson, Kansas and his sister Connie Bunn and her husband Thomas, of Canton, Kansas.

Larry was preceded in death by his father.

Private Graveside Service will be held at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 24 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715.

Myreta Mae Koehn, 78, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 2:23 P.M., Monday, September 14th, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Serenity Hospice, Newton, Kansas.

Myreta was born in McPherson, Kansas on February 24, 1942, a daughter of Ruth Josephine (Clark) and Leon Jantz.

Myreta attended Harmony Grade School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1960.

Myreta Mae Jantz was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Koehn on October 7, 1960 at Emanuel Mennonite Church, rural Galva, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Indianapolis, Indiana until 1962 when they moved to Galva, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a son and a daughter, Scott and Marcia. In 1981 they moved to McPherson. Jimmie died on April 11, 2020.

She was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church McPherson, Kansas and was a former member of the First Mennonite Church, McPherson.

Myreta was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she worked for Harry Lane Supply as a bookkeeper, she began a daycare for her family and later for others, and worked as a teller for Home State Bank and Trust until her retirement.

Myreta enjoyed gospel music, was a great cook and baker, spending time with her family and going to all the children's and grandchildren's activities .

She is survived by her children, Scott Koehn and wife Tammy, of McPherson, Kansas, Marcia Winter, of Searcy, Arkansas and Zachary Koehn and his wife Ariel of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings, Karen Anderson and husband Andy, of McPherson, Kansas and Gary Jantz and wife Debbe, of Newton, Kansas; her three grandchildren, Stephanie Pratt, Bryce Koehn, and Zachary Koehn and wife Ariel; her six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Wyatt, Xvaier, Kaly, Merrick, and Makenna; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Ray E Heikes, formerly of Sierra Vista, Arizona, entered the loving arms of his savior on September 10, 2020.&nbsp; He was greeted in heaven by his mate for life, his wife, Tracy Mildred Heikes, who he married on June 18, 1944; his parents, Ralph Lyman and Lillie Isabel Daniels-Heikes; his sisters, Hazel Ruth Wright and Leona May Heikes, his brother, Richard William Heikes; and his granddaughter, Cindy Leigh Hughes, who preceded him in death.

Ray is survived by two sisters, Evelyn June Mugler of Wakefield, Kansas and Marilyn Jean Martin of Clay Center, Kansas and by three children:&nbsp;

two sons-in-law; 1 (one) daughter-in-law; 6 (six) grandchildren; 12 (twelve) great grandchildren and 4 (four) great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ray E Heikes was born June 9, 1924 in Wakefield, Kansas.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was a graduate of Clay County Community High School in Clay Center, Kansas.&nbsp; After high school, Ray joined the Army Air Corp.&nbsp; He wanted to be a tail gunner in the military service, but when the army found out what a terrific trombone player he was, he was assigned to the Adjutant General’s office and spent over a year in Europe entertaining the troops and military top brass.

After 3 ½ years of military service and an honorable discharge, Ray entered Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas where he studied and obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering.

After a two-year employment with Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids Iowa Ray went to work as a civilian Electronic Engineer at the Fort Huachuca Electronic Proving Ground in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Ray worked on designing and testing military communications equipment, the first military drone systems, satellite systems for military communications in Europe, and was well known for designing and testing the communications system for the Apache Helicopter.&nbsp; It was well-known at Fort Huachuca that if you needed to show a complicated piece of equipment to the top military brass, call Ray Heikes because he could figure it out and make it work.&nbsp; Ray spent another 15 (fifteen) months working for a different branch of the military developing communication systems for (NORAD) North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

After his civil service retirement from Fort Huachuca Electronic Proving Ground in 1980, Ray worked for as an Electronic Engineer for TEXTRON (Bell Technical Corporation) for six years.

In his retirement, Ray worked as a ham radio operator (W7BLR) and was active in coordinating rescue operations and helping to find survivors families after the Mount St Helens disaster in 1982.&nbsp; Ray was a member of the Arizona Professional Electronic Engineers for the State of Arizona.

Ray and his wife, Tracy Heikes, moved to Flint, Texas in 2007 to be closer to their children.&nbsp; Ray was known for his kind, loving spirit and loyalty to family and friends.&nbsp; He was a member of First Assembly of God in Sierra Vista, Arizona for many years.&nbsp; Ray was gifted musically and taught his children how to harmonize and sing together.&nbsp;He served our country, his family, his friends and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Leon Olson, 87, of Clay Center, died September 12, 2020.&nbsp; He was born on September 12, 1933 in Clay County, the son of Emil and Hedvig (Carlson) Olson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leon grew up in Clay County and attended country schools.&nbsp; He graduated from CCCHS in 1951.&nbsp; Leon farmed his entire life in the Garfield Township of Clay County and worked at the Circle T implement company.&nbsp; He also served in the National Guard for many years.&nbsp; Leon was a member of the Swedesburg Lutheran Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.

Wilmer Eugene “Gene” Colby, 91, passed away September 15, 2020 in St. Augustine, Florida where he had been living with his daughter and son-in-law since June.&nbsp; Gene was born August 7, 1929 in Beloit, Kansas to Wilmer and Mae Colby. In the early 1930’s, the family of three moved to Council Grove, Kansas where Gene would grow up. Gene was a star athlete at Council Grove High School, graduated in 1948, then joined the Navy where he served in the Submarine unit and played football for the Navy wearing jersey #44.&nbsp; He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Peggy Darlene (Horton), in New London, Connecticut on December 18, 1948 and they went on to have two cherished daughters, Lynda and Diane. &nbsp;They were happily married for over 71 years.

Before moving back to his hometown in 1965, Gene worked with Fairmont Food in Hutchinson and Dolly Madison in Kansas City. Back in Council Grove, Gene and Peggy purchased and ran Colby’s Café for several years until Gene went into business with his Dad at Colby’s Toggery, a successful men’s clothing store he would eventually buy from his father. In addition to work and family, Gene loved his home town and worked to make Council Grove a great place to live. He very rarely missed a local football game for the high school and elementary boys and attended many K-State and K.C. Chiefs games. He enjoyed working with young men in 4H, helping them produce a style show.&nbsp; Gene was a beloved friend and community member and served in many local organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Investment Club, Council Grove County Club, and was a life-long member and past president of the Rotary Club. When he retired in 1992, Gene and Peggy spent several years as “winter Texans” before eventually moving to South Texas full-time. In Texas, Gene again became a valued friend and member of the community and enjoyed watching the golfers from his home on hole 5, playing golf and bridge, and serving on the board of Alamo Country Club. Gene and Peggy had the opportunity to visit many places both in the USA and overseas during their retirement. &nbsp;Gene always had a quick and sincere smile for everyone and found joy in living every day.

Gene is survived by daughter Lynda and her husband Stuart Whitlock of St. Augustine, FL; daughter Diane Wolfe of Council Grove, KS; grandchildren Kevin Zimmerman, Darren Zimmerman and his fiancée Brianna, Angela Hulays and her husband David; Brian Whitlock and his wife Jennifer; &nbsp;great grand-children Owen and Max Hulays, Colby, Charlotte and Emma Whitlock; and his aunt Betty (Bob) Fuller. &nbsp;Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife Peggy and his parents Wilmer and Mae Colby.&nbsp;

Wilmer Eugene “Gene” Colby



Michael R. Teasley, 68 of Abilene, passed away at Salina Regional Hospital September 13, 2020. He was born February 7, 1952 in Wichita, the son of Tracy and Mary (Nichols) Teasley. 

He worked construction and drove for Honorbuilt/El Dorado in his earlier years before he bought South Side Bar in 1993. He owned and operated the bar for 27 years. 

He was a member of the Elks and Eagles club. 

Michael is survived by his sisters: Thereasa Zdenek, Iris McKale, Carolina Yeager, Melody Hargis, Trina Perez, Steffanie Anderson, his companion of many years Vickie Faulkner, and beloved cat Tony. Also, son Laron, two step-children, Mandy Funk and Ben Faulkner, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and seventeen nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Weaver, niece Terry (McKale) Kolde and nephew Tim Weaver.

The family has chosen cremation. Family will have a come and go greeting at the South Side Bar in Abilene from 3-6 on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Inurnment will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Wounded Warrior Project. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Michael R. Teasley, 68 of Abilene, passed away at Salina Regional Hospital September 13, 2020. He was born February 7, 1952 in Wichita, the son of Tracy and Mary (Nichols) Teasley. He worked construction and drove for Honorbuilt/El Dorado in his earlier years before he bought South Side Bar in 1993. He owned and operated the bar for 27 years. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles club. Michael is survived by his sisters: Thereasa Zdenek, Iris McKale, Carolina Yeager, Melody Hargis, Trina Perez, Steffanie Anderson, his companion of many years Vickie Faulkner, and beloved cat Tony. Also, son Laron, two step-children, Mandy Funk and Ben Faulkner, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and seventeen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Weaver, niece Terry (McKale) Kolde and nephew Tim Weaver.The family has chosen cremation. Family will have a come and go greeting at the South Side Bar in Abilene from 3-6 on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Mary was a longtime waitress at Mars Restaurant, loved playing bingo and doing crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dean Endsley and Richard "Dick" Endsley and an infant sister, Marla.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Dean Price of Salina; a daughter, Patty A. Price of Manhattan; 2 granddaughters, Mary Lynn Haymond of Manhattan, Kansas, Jaicee Price of Liberal, Kansas; grandson, Jordan Price of Tyrone, Oklahoma; sister, Patricia Endsley of Salina; two brothers, Frank W. Endsley and Michael E. Endsley, both of Salina; nieces, Trisha Endsley, Jana Endsley, both of Salina, Kansas, Misty Endsley of Texas; nephew, Jason Endsley of Ellsworth, Kansas; great nieces, Meghan Endsley and Daisha Endsley, both of Salina, Kansas; great nephew, David Krueger (Madison) of Salina, Kansas; aunt, Lorraine Splattstoesser (Glenn) of Franklin, Nebraska; 5 great grandchildren and many cousins and friends.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Patricia Ann Zabaldo was born to Sarah Suiter Gourley on January 4,1950 in Hamilton, Ohio. She later was adopted and raised by Sam and her maternal aunt Mary Zabaldo.

She graduated from Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove, California with the class of 1968. In 1969 while living in Riverside, California she had her daughter Tricia Marie and in 1973 her son John Anthony. While living in California she was employed by Disneyland at the American Restaurant. In 1982 she had her last child. A daughter Tonia Lin in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In 1983 she moved with her daughter Tonia to Mankato, Kansas and worked for Kennedy’s and both cafes. This is also where she met the love of her life John Dewey.

Pat had a love for dream catchers, crystals and lived to read. Pat had an infectious personality that lit up a room. She loved to make people laugh and put a smile on their face.

She departed this life on September 11, 2020 at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 7 days.

Those left to treasure her memory are her significant other John Dewey of Mankato, Kansas. Children Tricia Pavusa of Ardmore, Tennessee, John Pavusa and girlfriend Candace Butler of Mankato, Kansas and Tonia Angley and fiancé Johnnie Goodwin of Beloit, Kansas. James C. Bornholdt, 82, of Inman, Kansas, passed away at 10:52 p.m., Saturday, September 12th, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Cedars House, McPherson.

James was born in Hutchinson, KS on September 18, 1937, son of Mildred Emma (Knackstedt) and Harry Henry Bornholdt.

James attended Grove School, rural Inman, Kansas and graduated from Inman High School, Inman, Kansas in 1955.

James C. Bornholdt was united in marriage to Elizabeth Joan Murphy on May 3, 1959 in Inman, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together on the Bornholdt family farm just Northwest of Inman. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter and a son, Pat and Tim. Joan entered into eternal life on June 19, 2008.

He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ Inman, Kansas where he served in many capacities through the years and was an Elder of the church and a member of the Men's Fellowship.

James was a lifelong cattleman and farmer and was blessed with taking over and maintaining the family farm. Through the years he also worked for Buhler Mills, McPherson Sale Barn, Central Livestock, and hauled cattle for Charlie Crow.

James was a member of Kansas Livestock Association, Young Farmers Association, and Hayes Township Board Member. James enjoyed his livestock and took pride in his cattle. He and Joan enjoyed going on many trips, especially the Go Club trips, and spending time with his family. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren always looking forward to the times they shared together and telling stories around the dinner table.

He is survived by his children, Pat Conklin and husband Paul, of Argonia, Kansas and Tim Bornholdt and wife Terri, of Inman, Kansas; his four grandchildren, Lynette Osner and husband Brandon, Cody Bornholdt and wife Ashley, Katie Albers and husband Adam, and Lance Conklin and wife Janelle; five great-grandchildren, Henry Osner, Blake Osner, Emma Osner, Jack James Osner, and Cash Albers; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mildred Bornholdt; his wife, Joan Bornholdt; and his sister Phyllis Luty.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, Inman, Kansas.

Funeral service will be held at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Inman, KS, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17th, 2020 with Reverend Dennis Ureche officiating.

The final resting place will be at the North Inman Cemetery Inman, KS.

Leonard Allen “Pete” Edwards, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi RMC, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita, KS. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for several different pipeline companies across the United States.

Leonard served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946 and the United States Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean War.

Leonard was born on March 24, 1928, in Hardin, MO, the son of Henry and Margaret (Bueler) Edwards. He was united in marriage to Shirley J. Gregg on January 24, 1955, in Carrollton, MO. This union was blessed with two sons, Randy and Russell.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley of the home; two sons, Randy Edwards (Janette) of Newton, KS and Russell Edwards (Terrie) of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Mildred Dorsey of Carrollton, MO; five grandchildren, Travis Edwards (April), Kimberly Erin (James), Katie Humpal (Major Jesse, U.S. A.F.), Jennifer Alejandre (Joel), Jake Edwards (Alycia); and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert Edwards.

Mary Chestnut, 89, died September 12, 2020 at the Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born April 10, 1931 at Plankinton, South Dakota, the daughter of Earl and Mabel (Harris) Mitchell.&nbsp; Mary grew up in Plankinton, South Dakota, graduating from high school in 1949.&nbsp; She married Roger Chestnut on April 15, 1951 and they lived in several places before moving to Clay County in the early 1960s.&nbsp; Mary worked at the Fincham Locker Plant, Fowles Locker Plant, the Clay County Hospital for 15 years and as a home health aide for several years.&nbsp; Roger preceded her in death on August 14, 2013.&nbsp; Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon and an elder, and she was a member of the Presbyterian Women.&nbsp; She is also preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters and son in-law, Tom James.

October 12, 1939~September 12, 2020(age 80)

LaDonna’s life began October 12, 1939 in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She was the oldest daughter born to James Elton and Donna (Hill) Hess.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1957.&nbsp; 

She was united in marriage to William J. “Bill” Sherbert on May 31, 1959 in Wakefield KS.&nbsp; 

LaDonna and Bill moved to Marion in 1964 where she was a stay at home mom for a while, then went to working at Charlies Burger Shake in Marion for many years.&nbsp; 

In 1979, after teaching herself to type with a manual typewriter, she was hired on by Marion SRS Office as an Office Assistant, and proudly kept the position for 25 years, retiring in 2004.&nbsp; 

LaDonna was an avid bowler, bowling 3 times a week at one point, and enjoyed attending state and national bowling tournaments. LaDonna and Bill decided to purchase Mar Bowl Lanes, later at Sher Bowl Lanes, in 2003, and later building on Willy J’s 9th Lane Sports Bar in 2008.&nbsp; 

She loved to watch the K C Royals, and KU basketball.&nbsp; 

LaDonna loved to sing and was involved with Sweet Adeline’s acapella choir for several years.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing the lottery, sending out sweepstake entries, and dancing to a George Strait song, sometimes by herself. 

She leaves behind her husband Bill, of 61 years, of Marion, her daughter Donna (Randy) Bryant, and son Daniel Sherbert; all of Marion.&nbsp; Grandchildren, Dustin (Summer) Sherbert, Jayden Hallowell, Ryan (Leigh) Funk, Jason (Tiffany) Funk, Joshua (Dawnell) Funk. Great grandchildren, Faith, Lilly, Elyssa, Kayden, Rylin, Kylus, Draven, Josell with number nine on the way. Also, her siblings, RoseMary Reece, Jean (Lon) Paquette, Eltanis (Ted) Volen and Butch (Nicole) Hess, as well as many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; 

LaDonna passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.&nbsp; 

She is proceeded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Lyndsay Rae Sherbert and sister, Betty Lou Gingles. 

Visitation will be Tuesday September 15th, 2pm to 7 pm, with family from 5-7pm at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.&nbsp; Her graveside service will be held Wednesday September 16th at 11a.m. at Marion Cemetery.&nbsp; Masks are optional.&nbsp; Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Daniel Sherbert’s house afterwards for meal and to reminisce.

 </figure><h2>LaDonna Elsie (Hess) Sherbert</h2>October 12, 1939~September 12, 2020(age 80)LaDonna’s life began October 12, 1939 in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She was the oldest daughter born to James Elton and Donna (Hill) Hess.&nbsp; She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1957.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to William J. “Bill” Sherbert on May 31, 1959 in Wakefield KS.&nbsp; LaDonna and Bill moved to Marion in 1964 where she was a stay at home mom for a while, then went to working at Charlies Burger Shake in Marion for many years.&nbsp; In 1979, after teaching herself to type with a manual typewriter, she was hired on by Marion SRS Office as an Office Assistant, and proudly kept the position for 25 years, retiring in 2004.&nbsp; LaDonna was an avid bowler, bowling 3 times a week at one point, and enjoyed attending state and national bowling tournaments. LaDonna and Bill decided to purchase Mar Bowl Lanes, later at Sher Bowl Lanes, in 2003, and later building on Willy J’s 9th Lane Sports Bar in 2008.&nbsp; She loved to watch the K C Royals, and KU basketball.&nbsp; LaDonna loved to sing and was involved with Sweet Adeline’s acapella choir for several years.&nbsp; She enjoyed playing the lottery, sending out sweepstake entries, and dancing to a George Strait song, sometimes by herself. Her greatest joy was her family.&nbsp; She leaves behind her husband Bill, of 61 years, of Marion, her daughter Donna (Randy) Bryant, and son Daniel Sherbert; all of Marion.&nbsp; Grandchildren, Dustin (Summer) Sherbert, Jayden Hallowell, Ryan (Leigh) Funk, Jason (Tiffany) Funk, Joshua (Dawnell) Funk. Great grandchildren, Faith, Lilly, Elyssa, Kayden, Rylin, Kylus, Draven, Josell with number nine on the way. Also, her siblings, RoseMary Reece, Jean (Lon) Paquette, Eltanis (Ted) Volen and Butch (Nicole) Hess, as well as many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; LaDonna passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.&nbsp; She is proceeded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Lyndsay Rae Sherbert and sister, Betty Lou Gingles. Visitation will be Tuesday September 15th, 2pm to 7 pm, with family from 5-7pm at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.&nbsp; Her graveside service will be held Wednesday September 16th at 11a.m. at Marion Cemetery.&nbsp; Masks are optional.&nbsp; Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Daniel Sherbert’s house afterwards for meal and to reminisce.Memorial contributions in LaDonna’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.Please sign her online guest book and leave a memory of LaDonna at www.ymzfh.com

Rodney McCollough, 49 of Concordia, Kansas passed away Monday, September 11, 2020 in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;

He was born July 2, 1971, in Concordia, Kansas to&nbsp; and Jim and Joan (Regnier) McCollough.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Belleville, Kansas.

Ronald Harris Laing, known to friends as “Harris” passed away Friday, September 11, 2020, at Salina Regional Hospital at the age of 81 years. He was born August 30, 1939 in Abilene the son of R.B. and EraJane Laing. Harris was a 1957 graduate of Abilene High School. He then received his undergraduate degree from K-State University, and later earned a graduate degree at the University of Arizona. Harris spent 3 years in the United States Navy serving on the aircraft carrier USS Midway. Following the Navy he moved to Minneapolis Minnesota for a job with General Mills. He later started Fiberich Technologies, a food science company focused on protein and fiber-rich vegetable and grain-based foods for consumers and animal feed.

Harris was active in the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He was involved in several community organizations including the Minneapolis Jaycees and the Abilene Lion’s Club. He also served as a little league basketball and baseball coach and in church, most recently Emmanuel Church of Abilene.

On December 10, 2011 he was united in marriage to Jolene Robson at Emmanuel Church. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, Chris Laing (Ann), Step-children; Debra Price (Chris), Craig Robson (Adrienna), Guy Robson and Jenn Martin (Brent). Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One sister, Charlotte Dahl (Robert). He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his first wife.

Family will receive friends Tuesday Morning from 10:00 A.M., until Service time at Emmanuel Church. The family suggests memorials be given to the Emmanuel Church.
