George F. Cardinal

George Frederick Cardinal, 86, of Salina, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was born May 10, 1934 in Detroit, MI and raised in Baraga, MI. After serving in the Marine Corp, he moved to Salina, KS where he met Pat. They married on February 11, 1961. 

George was an entrepreneur, business consultant, born engineer and friend to all. He was very active in the Salina community and contributed his time and love to many organizations. These include the Marine Corp League, Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, Kansas Jaycees, Silver Sabres Drum and Bugle Corp, Sacred Heart High School, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts, Kansas Capitol dome Ad Astra statue, Kansas Silver Haired Legislature, OCCK, North Salina Businessmen’s Assoc., Kansas Motor Carriers, as well as the Saline Co. Commission on Aging, Community Corrections, Rescue Squad, Tri-Rivers Fair Assoc. and War Memorial. You could always find George at a sporting event supporting his grandsons and all community youth. 

Survivors include his wife Pat, brother Don (Donna) of Topeka, KS, children Deb of Austin, TX, Jeanie and Michelle (Bob Dolan) of Salina, KS, grandchildren Christopher (Elizabeth) of St. Louis, MO, Joshua Dolan of Orlando, FL, Shannon Dolan and Sharon (Kyle) Callaway of Salina, KS, Robert (Christine) Dolan of Kansas City, and several great and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots or the Salina Catholic Charities in care of Ryan Mortuary 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.
