He married Connie Ehrich in South Dakota on April 11, 1959. They later divorced. He worked for RHV Hardware in Abilene before taking a job as an Insurance Adjuster for Upland Mutual.&nbsp; He worked for Longford Water following his retirement from Upland Mutual.&nbsp; Chester married Janice Blake on August 13, 1982.&nbsp; He enjoyed competition shooting woodworking, hunting and repairing guns.&nbsp; Chester looked forward to his yearly hunting trip to Alaska.&nbsp; Chester was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ray O, Samuel, Dan and Quentin Smith; two sisters, Maude Tyler and Opal Kiekel.

Chester M Smith

Wallace Dean Ingmire of Council Grove, Kansas, finished the race and won his eternal prize on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the age of 89 years and six months.

Wally was born April 6, 1931, to Howard and Gladys Edwards Ingmire in a farmhouse near White City, Kansas. Growing up on a farm in Kansas in the 1930’s was an adventure for Wally, his two older brothers, and one younger sister. The family moved to Council Grove when he was in the eighth grade. He participated in sports – primarily football and basketball – during his high school years and went on to play football for one season at the College of Emporia.

It was because of his involvement in sports that he caught the eye of a young lady. When Wally was a sophomore in high school, he was nominated for Homecoming king. The sophomore girl nominated for Homecoming queen was Norma Jean Knackstedt. As sophomores, they were voted as Homecoming King and Queen. That began a relationship that led to their dating and eventually marriage. Wallace and Norma were married on March 5, 1950, and celebrated 63 years of marriage before her passing in 2013. They were proud parents to four children – Douglas, Randall, Mark, and Lori. These four children and their spouses blessed them with twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The Church and their relationship with Jesus Christ were always important to Wally and Norma. Both grew up going to church, but it was shortly after their marriage during a revival meeting held at the Council Grove Christian Church that he made the decision to be baptized by immersion and give his life completely to God. Their lives always displayed that faith commitment whether it was doing physical labor on the church buildings or doing spiritual labor in Sunday school classes, Bible studies, and prayer groups. Wally also served as an elder in the church for many years. Their lives together influenced hundreds of individuals for Christ as they expressed kindness, encouragement, care, and service both in the church and in the community they loved.

In 1969, Wally opened Ingmire Plumbing, Heating, and Appliance. The growing up years on the farm and his commitment to Christ influenced how he operated the business. His customers were treated with fairness and compassion, and he always went the 2nd and 3rd mile to help them with their needs. Many family dinners were interrupted with a phone call from someone whose furnace or air conditioner had quit. He never threw anything out because he never knew when he might need the part or the “thing-a-ma-jig.” After 50-plus years of owning his own business on Main Street in Council Grove, Wally closed up shop in 2019.

An article in a 2010 church newsletter about Wally and Norma stated, “His interests/hobbies include his work and keeping Norma happy.” More could be told about Wally’s actions and involvement in people’s lives, but his sister, Shirley, summed it best with the statement, “He is the nicest man I’ve ever known.”

The family is establishing a scholarship fund in his memory for Council Grove High School students who are planning to enroll in an area vocational/technical college. Memorial gifts may be designated to Wallace Ingmire Technical Education Scholarship or to Gideon’s International.

Face masks and social distancing will be required at all services. He will Lie in State for public viewing from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, at Sawyer Funeral Chapel. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, at Community Christian Church. That will be followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m. that will be open to the public.

Betty Nadine (Simmelink) Schoen, age 99 years, 8 months, and 15 days, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Downs Care and Rehabilitation. Betty was born February 5, 1921 to George and Anna (Kuiken) Simmelink on a farm near Oak Creek School North of Downs.&nbsp;

Betty moved to a farm 9 miles North of Downs as a small child. She graduated from Oak Creek Grade School. On March 12, 1941 she married Meryl Emil Schoen of rural Cawker City. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. To this union Meryl and Betty were blessed with four surviving children. Meryl and Betty farmed in the Cawker City area until they retired off the farm in 1978. Upon retiring they moved to Downs. Betty was a member of the Irving Community Club and Red Hat Ladies Group. She was an active, life long member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Downs. She was baptized and confirmed on May 30, 1937. She was also an active member of the Ladies Aid at the church.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, her husband Meryl, sister Beverly Remus and grandson Kent Cordwell.&nbsp;

Survivors include children; Sheryl (Richard) Cordwell, Berryton, KS, Dennis (Brenda) Schoen Warsaw, MO, Bruce (Debbie) Schoen, Downs, KS, and Janet (Kyle) Tjelmeland, Pagosa Springs, CO. Ten grandchildren; Kim Bradford (fiancé Doug Klise) Berryton, Julie (Tom) Brush, Downs, Jeremy (Megan) Schoen, Olathe, Brady (Megan) Schoen, Downs, Barry (Sylvia) Schoen, Beloit, Brent (Kerry) Schoen, Downs, Keaton (Shayleen) Tjelmeland, Pagosa Springs, CO, Chase (Kelsie) Tjelmeland, Ovderland Park, Miranda Tjelmeland (fiancé Will Mevis) Pagosa Springs, CO, and Courtney (Derek) Pearson, Concordia. Betty Nadine (Simmelink) Schoen

Paul F. Kaus, 60, of Salina, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020. He was born in Hoxie, Kansas to Frederick J. and Helen (Zerr) Kaus on March 10, 1960. He married Christine L. Pechanec on August 31, 1985 in Timken, Kansas. He graduated from Golden Plains High School, Rexford, in 1978 and then received in his Associate of Science Radiologic Technology degree from Fort Hays State University in 1982.

Paul had a wonderful sense of humor and a passionate love for animals. He and his family raised all sorts of animals on a farm north of Salina. He was very proud to have had one of his llamas go to the petting zoo at Rolling Hills Zoo. He loved fishing, gardening, and being adventurous outdoors. His hard work ethic was instilled in his children, he never missed one of their activities and was very proud of all their achievements. His greatest accomplishments were being a husband, a dad, a grandpa and being able to play and read books to his grandchildren.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Christine, of the home; children, Kaylene Bacon (Cody) of Minneapolis, Trenton Kaus (Haley), of Manhattan, and Tyler Kaus (Lenae), of Wichita; grandchildren, Mallorie, Rylan, Cordell, Canter, and Caroline; mother, Helen, of Colby, KS siblings, Michael Kaus, of Bison, KS, Dona Kulhanek (Shorty), of Colby, KS, Ron Kaus (Charlene), of Colby, KS, Susan Hillebrand (Gary), of Norton, KS, and Kenneth Kaus (Marion), of Fredericksburg, VA.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frederick and sister in law, Lora Kaus.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Ryan Mortuary with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A private family Rosary will begin at 10:15 a.m. immediately followed by a private family Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Weber as officiant. Interment will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina, where everyone is welcome.

&nbsp; Leon Harold Peterson, 81, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Monday, October 19th, 2020 suddenly at his residence. Leon was born in rural Falun, KS on July 4, 1939, a son of Arthur Rudolph and Pearl Cecelia (Rupert) Peterson. Leon attended White Rose and Falun grade schools, Falun, Kansas and graduated from Lindsborg High School, Lindsborg, Kansas in 1957. He was a lifetime member of Freemount Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. Through the years Leon was a lifelong farmer and also worked for Certainteed as a supervisor, Tractor Supply as a second key person and Country General as a clerk all in McPherson. Leon was confirmed and a lifetime member of the Freemont Lutheran Church and presently served on the church counsel, American Legion Post 24, McPherson Elk's #502 and was a chairman of Trustees, all in McPherson. Leon enjoyed his farm, cattle, drinking coffee with his good friend Dean Johnson, spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his siblings, Eugene E. Peterson and his wife Mary Jean, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Bobby E. Peterson, of Lindsborg, Kansas, James R. Peterson and his wife Bernice, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Virginia L. &nbsp; Wayne Edward Smith, 90, of Inman, KS, passed away at 6:47 p.m., Monday, October 19th, peacefully, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. Wayne was born in Emporia, Kansas on January 20, 1930, a son of Ida Bernice (Bobst) and Wilbur James Smith, Sr. Wayne attended Emporia grade school, Kansas City schools, and graduated from Washington High School, Kansas City, Kansas. He then attended Emporia State Teachers College, Emporia, Kansas where he got his teaching degree. Later he went back to school at Kansas University to get his masters degree . He was a member of First United Methodist Church McPherson, KS. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Wayne Edward Smith was united in marriage to Ann Kingsley White on July 20, 1963 at the Prairie Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Lawrence, Kansas. In 1965 the couple moved to the White family farm. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Jeffrey and Michael. &nbsp; Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Karraker, 65, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away at 7:25 pm Monday, October 19th, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Hospice House. Lawrence was born in McPherson, Kansas on November 10, 1954, a son of Eulalia Loy (Emerson) and Clifford Earl Karraker. Larry attended the Wickersham grade school, Park School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1973. He then attended a computer trade school in Wichita, Kansas. He grew up in the Baptist faith and was currently a member of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia Larry worked for Cultura Technologies as a Customer Service Representative. Larry was a founding member of the McPherson Theatre Guild, was a mentor for outreach at Stand Up For Kids in Atlanta, Georgia. Larry enjoyed riding motor cycles, going to car shows, working on cars, and spending time with his family and friends. He spent many hours building model cars, playing guitar, and entertaining people with his impressions and stories. Mary Frances Krahl, 91, was born into her earthly life on February 20, 1929 and was born into eternal life on October 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Frances was born to Gilbert and Edith (Coupal) Thyfault on the family farm near Zurich, Kansas. In 1939, her family moved to Alton, KS where her parents ran what Frances called the 1st convenient store/gas station/garage/restaurant in America. Her favorite memory was during World War II, she would scoop up free ice cream cones for convoys of soldiers. In Alton, Frances met the love of her life, Zane Krahl. They were the classic love story of the cheerleader and the football player. Frances and Zane were married on her 21st birthday at St. Thomas Church in Stockton, KS. They ran a meat locker in Damar, KS and then moved to Salina, KS where their first child, Julie Ann was born. In 1955, they moved to Hays, KS where their other children were born; Rodney, Becky, Todd and Jeff. Frances was a stay-at-home mom as she never had a driver's license. She cooked everything from scratch, sewed all the girls clothes, gave everyone haircuts and ordered shoes by placing her kids feet on the foot measuring page in the Sears catalog.

In 1968, the family moved to Salina in which living a 1/2 block from St. Mary's Church and Sacred Heart High School, Frances walked over to volunteer hundreds of hours. She was head Sacristian at St. Mary's for 16 years where she decorated the church for holidays and got the altar ready for daily mass. She repeated this process many years at Sacred Heart Jr/Sr High School. Frances had a rosary collection she displayed for Sr. Pauline's 7th grade class who walked over to her house for many Octobers who then left with handfuls of candy. Frances was an awesome cook specializing in casseroles, cookies, tea rings, caramel popcorn and fried chicken and gravy. In her spare time, she hand stitched quilts for each child, grandchild, great-grandchildren with spares to distribute as they continue to arrive in the future. Frances loved to travel and was fortunate to make countless trips with Zane in their 1931 Model A pickup touring across Kansas and the United States with the Midway Antique Auto Club of Salina and the Wichita A's Model A Ford Club where they met remarkable people and made wonderful memories. She also took orders, wrapped and shipped parts for Zane's Antique Cars and Parts with Zane for 27 years.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Zane, her parents, brothers Donnie Thyfault, John and his wife Lois Thyfault, and sister Dorothy and her husband Doyal Hrabe. She is survived by her sister, Jane and husband Don Cunningham, Stockton, KS.; her children and their spouses: Sr. Julie Ann, C.S.A., Fond du Lac, WI; Rodney, Solomon, KS; Becky of the home; Todd and Sherry Krahl, Salina and Jeff and Lynda Krahl, Galva, KS.; her grandchildren and their spouses: Devin and Carissa Krahl, Blue Springs MO.; Kylie and Dustin Pestinger, Salina, KS., Taylor and Clancy Krahl, Salina, KS.; and Paige Brown of Solomon, KS.; her great grandchildren, Korey Pestinger; Kaidan and Ava Brown. Lorina C. Knoll, 96, passed away in the COVID-19 unit at Salina Regional Health Center on Sunday, October 18, 2020. She was born November 10, 1923 in Graham County, KS to Joseph Peter and Anna Rose (Brungardt) Knoll.

Lorina was a 1941 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Salina, received her B.A. degree in 1945 from Marymount College and earned her master's degree from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS in 1962.

She taught school from 1945 - 1951 then took a civil service job with the federal government from 1951 - 1954. She went back to teaching in 1954. She taught in Grainfield, Victoria, Winfield and finally Heusner School in Salina until retirement in 1986.

Lorina enjoyed traveling, and was a political activist for voter registration and equal rights amendments. She also was a volunteer for the Army USO. Lorina lived her last 15 years at Dignity Care Home where she received wonderful care.

She will be missed by many nieces and nephews including her care givers Ellen Farrar of Ohio and Tom Prochazka and wife Patty of Solomon.

She was preceded in death by sibling twins, brother, Edwin Knoll, sisters, Helen Prochazka, Alfrieda Gilbert, and Mary Ann Dungan.

A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

Don R. Haight, 86, of Salina, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020. He was born November 30, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Wayland and Eleanor (Morrison) Haight.

Survivors include his wife, Terry K. Haight, of the home; daughter, Kay McMillan, of Salina; step-daughter, Chantal Piles (Michael), of Allen, TX; grandsons, Danny McMillan and Jerry McMillan; step-grandsons, Brek Darling and Travis Darling (Maria); great grandchildren, Jaime McMillan, Allison McMillan, and Jerry McMillan, Jr.; sister, Barbara Nicholson, of San Diego, CA.

Robin Lorraine (Carlson) Grebba, was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 27, 1957, to Robert and Judith McLean. She was the second child of 4; siblings Carolyn Pearson, Robert McLean Jr and Sandra Oelke. Robin passed away unexpectedly on October 10,2020 due to complications related to COVID-19. Robin is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Judith McLean, sister Carolyn Pearson, brother Robert McLean Jr. and granddaughter Kayla Carlson and is survived by her husband Paul Grebba, sister Sandra (Robert) Oelke, Her son Shawn (Terry) Carlson, grandchildren Nicole Raycraft and Cody Carlson. Her son Brandon (Kathryn), grandchildren (late) Kayla Carlson, great grandson Cydon Wright, Madison Carlson, great grand daughter Paisley Carlson, Alyssa (Whitman) Jones, Rebecka Carlson, Mckenzie Carlson and Natalie Carlson and her daughter Nichole Carlson. Robin spent the majority of her life in Phoenix, Az and most of her career in retail management until more recently after she proudly completed her pharmacy technician certification. Robin was solid in her faith of Christianity and her Democratic political views and never backed down from an opportunity to share her thoughts. She enjoyed spending weekends at her property in Northern Az nicknamed the “honky château,” spending time outdoors camping, fishing, gardening, reading, watching sports, bird watching, making various crafts and had a love for music and signing. Robins home was always open to all for any occasion, and decorated for each holiday. She shared her love of cooking with her children and grandchildren and had many family traditional recipes to pass through generations. She had a talent for sending out care packages of plunder and giving away belongings she felt someone else would enjoy more. She loved to travel and was continually counting sleeps for her next visits. Robin had a fierce, unconditional love for her family and was actively involved in encouraging, supporting and acknowledging her pride of her posterity which she joyfully extended to anyone considered a friend. Robin spent the last 39 years with the love of her life Paul Grebba. She cherished her relationships with her previous husband Doug Carlson the father of Brandon and Nichole Carlson and George Lyons, father of Shawn Carlson and had an unwavering, exceptional best friendship of 40 years with Karen Stclair Ferrill.￼ Robin was a loving women who lived her life with honor and integrity. She lived without regrets and encouraged others to live life to the fullest. The memories of Robin will have an everlasting impact on all who knew her.

Robin (Carlson) Grebba

Alice Marie Stithem, passed away on October 16, 2020 at the Presbyterian
 St. Lukes Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 82. 

She was
 born on July 12, 1938 to Lewis and Iva (Wright) Neff in Beloit, Kansas.
 She was united in marriage to Ronald D. Stithem on June 1, 1957 in Glen
 Elder, Kansas. They were blessed with four children: Linda, David, 
Ronda, and Daniel.
 Alice was raised in Glen Elder where she graduated with the Class of
 1956. Following high school, she attended Brown Mackie College in 
Salina where she earned her degree in Secretarial Studies. She took that
 degree and utilized it the rest of her working life. 
 When Alice met Ron, the couple spent a short time in Stockton before
 later moving around due to Ron’s career as a Trooper. The couple 
eventually settled down around Hill City until Ron passed away in 2003 
and the flooding in 2018 led Alice to relocate to Hoxie where she spent 
the remainder of her years.
 Alice enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. While she 
was able, she kept busy traveling to any and all events they 
participated in. She was proud of her granddaughters’ state champion 
basketball teams, as well as the hard work and dedication all her 
grandchildren throw into everything they do. She also enjoyed the local 
teams, Kansas City Chiefs football, and Kansas University basketball. 
Alice loved the company of her family, including her four-legged family 
member Lady. 
 Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Dwayne “Tiny”) 
Faris of Salina, KS, David (Diane) Stithem of Hoxie, and Daniel (Pam) 
Stithem of Reading, KS; and grandchildren, Colton (Kelly) Faris, Riley 
Faris, Darin (Kylie) Stithem, Darik (Carly) Stithem, Darra Stithem 
(Casey Moore), Danel (Kelly) Younkin, Joseph Stanley, Savannah Stanley, 
Kylie Stithem, Allison Stithem, Stephanie Stithem, and Nathan Stithem; 
and two great-grandchildren, Maes Stithem and Kade Moore.

Alice M. Stithem

Charles Phillip Aldrich, 79, passed away October 16, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center.

He was born in Garfield, Kansas on April 17, 1941, to Charles Edgar and LaVergne (Appel) Aldrich.

Phil graduated from Garfield High School in 1959, Fort Hays State University in 1964 and then Washburn Law School in 1967. He started his career as an attorney in Salina, KS with Blackwell and Knudson and then later moved to Larned, KS and opened Aldrich Law Office in 1972. He was elected as Judge of the District Court of the Kansas 24th Judicial District in 1975 where he proudly served Pawnee, Rush, Hodgman, Edwards, Ness and Lane counties for 17 years. Upon leaving the bench, he reopened Aldrich Law Office and retired in 2002.

Since his retirement he has enjoyed coin collecting, politics and telling lawyer jokes, often to those in a quiet doctor’s office waiting room. He loved to create, build and share his memories through his many eccentric carpentry creations. He was a man of many ideas and loved to challenge others to think beyond the norm, often beyond their comfort zone. He took great pride in his family and their accomplishments. His unique, quixotic humor and unconventional wisdom will be missed. &nbsp;He lived with much purpose and resolve and cared deeply for his family.

He married Thyla Abrahamson in 1961. And from this union came three children (Greg, Doug and Beth).&nbsp; They later divorced.

He married Marilyn (Marty) Fitch in 2008 in Lincoln, NE which added a step-son, Ross Fitch to his family. &nbsp;

Survivors include: His wife Marty of the home, one sister, DeAnne Schumacher of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, one brother, Stanley Aldrich of Garfield, KS; two sons, Greg (Susan) of Manhattan, KS and Doug (Jennifer) of Garfield, KS; daughter, Beth Rein of Great Bend, KS; step-son Ross&nbsp;Fitch of Wichita, KS; 9 grandchildren Zachary and Jessica Aldrich; Blaine (Kelsey) Aldrich, Casie (Derek) Snodgrass and Allyson Aldrich; Paxton and Raef Rein; Peter and Madeleine&nbsp;Fitch and 3 great grandchildren, Tennyson Aldrich and Kynzlee and Kason Snodgrass.

Dorothy Jean Myers, 96, of Marquette passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Riverview Estates of Marquette, Kansas.  Dorothy was born May 21, 1924 in Marquette to Ancil and Ella "Dolly" (Durland) Holler.

Marlene F. Davis, the daughter of Erney Kolars and Matilda (Krhounek) Kolars, was born September 11, 1940 in Cuba, Kansas and passed away on October 19, 2020 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Marlene grew up and received her education at the local public schools of Cuba, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On August 7, 1955, she was united in marriage to L. “Buss” Davis and to this union was born seven children, Tena, Jenny, Misty, Nola, John, Danny, and Dory.&nbsp; The couple made their home in Scandia.&nbsp;&nbsp; Marlene was a homemaker and later worked outside of the home as a waitress, house keeper and for Scott Specialties in Belleville.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Erney and Matilda Kolars,&nbsp; her husband, L. “Buss” Davis on December 2, 1998, and one grandson Sawyer White.

She is survived by three sons, John (Lisa) Davis of Scandia, KS, Danny (Tarry)Davis of Scandia, KS, and Dory Davis of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters,&nbsp; Tena (Harold) Myer of Belleville, KS, Jenny Bergstrom of Belleville, KS,&nbsp; Misty (Terry) Goodwin of Phoenix, Arizona and Nola (Duane) Gray of Olathe, KS; 17 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren;&nbsp; one brother, Melvin (Vickie) Kolars of Belleville, KS; one sister, Janice (Marvin) Brungardt of Cuba, KS; other relatives and friends.

Genevieve Ann (Hruza) Morris, 86, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020. She was a resident of the Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation Center.&nbsp; She was born August 27, 1934 in Edgemont, South Dakota to John and Elizabeth (Wiles) Hruza.

She and Norman Morris were united in marriage on April 1, 1952 at Burr Oak, Kansas.&nbsp; She held a deep love for children and was an early elementary teacher throughout most of her life.&nbsp;

After their marriage, the army sent Norman to Korea and Genevieve began earning her teaching certificate at Fort Hays. In 1953 her teaching career began in a one room schoolhouse near Burr Oak, Kansas.&nbsp; She then taught at the public grade school in Burr Oak.&nbsp; Next was Valley View School near Webber, Kansas. Valley View closed and she taught at Hardy, Nebraska. She and Norman moved to Minden, Nebraska where she worked as a secretary at Pioneer Village.&nbsp; She missed children and teaching, so she went back to college at McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas to complete her full degree. She began her new teaching career in Lindsay Nebraska Catholic Schools.&nbsp; She finished her teaching career in Osborne, Kansas and retired in 1995.&nbsp; She then moved to Minneapolis to be closer to her son Duane and his family.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Elizabeth Hruza, her husband Norman Morris, her brother Laverne Hruza, and her sister Mary Lou Tooch.&nbsp;

Survivors are her brother Joy Hruza of Salina, son Duane (Juanita) Morris of Minneapolis; two grandsons Justin (Denise) Morris of Longview, Texas; Jarod (Krystin) Morris of Bethany, Oklahoma; 10 great-grandchildren.

Wilferd’s life began on Marcy 27, 1932, the son of Jacob Edgar and Marie (Wiebe) Thiessen in Newton, Kansas. He graduated from Berean Academy in 1950 and went onto graduate from Grace Bible College in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Gladys Evelyn Kracht on June 15, 1954 in Creighton, Nebraska. Wilferd and Gladys ministered all across Latin America from 1964-2010. He also taught at Rio Grande Institute in Texas for 10 years. He was an evangelistic chalk artist and used his talent to share the gospel. He enjoyed riding horses, playing the piano and wood carving.

His loving family includes his wife, Gladys of Whitewater; his sons and their wives, Randy and Connie Thiessen of Whitewater, Gary and Monica Thiessen of Burns, Kansas; daughter and her husband, LaVonna and Dr. Greg Schmid of Phoenix, Arizona; 18 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry and Edgar Thiessen and a sister, Martha Thiessen. Wilferd passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the age of 88 years old.

Madeline “Janice” Demars, age 92, left this earthly life on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia.&nbsp; She was born on November 17, 1927 in Kackley, Kansas to C. Lester and Lola (Bishop) Houghton.

Madeline graduated from Jamestown High School, Jamestown, Kansas in 1945. &nbsp;&nbsp;She moved to Concordia, Kansas to work at Fairmont Foods and later at the Chamber of Commerce. Madeline later worked for the Aurora Post Office for many years.&nbsp; She was also a homemaker and most of all a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She married Clarence Dale Demars on May 20, 1947 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas. &nbsp;&nbsp;Madeline and Dale made their home and raising their family in Aurora, Kansas, later moving to Concordia.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, previously the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Aurora, and Women of the Moose Lodge #1428, VFW #588 Ladies Auxiliary both of Concordia.

Madeline is survived by her 3 daughters, Jane Demanette (Roger), Concordia, KS; Pamela Huber (Bob), Concordia, KS; Linda Begnoche (Gary), Aurora, KS; a son, Richard Demars, (Mary), North Richland Hills, TX;&nbsp; 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Sharpe, Clyde, KS; Rosalie Grounds, Concordia, KS; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents, C. Lester and Lola, grandson, Kelly Huber, 2 sisters, Vivian Almon and Audrey Hayden and a brother Charles Houghton.
