Gerald Eugene Briney

Gerald Eugene Briney was born February 16, 1929 to Harold Edmond and Blanche Mae McElroy Briney at Beloit, Kansas. He died January 7, 2021 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 91.

He graduated from Beloit High School in 1947. He farmed from 1947 to 1951, and served in the United States Army from January 1951 to May 1953. In 1952 he served in Korea as an armorer with D Co. 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He farmed again from 1954 until 1962, when he moved to Durango, Colorado, where he built logging roads for the Forrest Service and Managed Clubs. He moved back to Beloit in 1974 to farm again. He loved to farm and took pride in his work.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Beloit. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, 2nd Infantry Division Association, Korean War Veterans Alliance, and 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion Association, as well as the National Rifle Association and the Eagles Club. He was a past commander of the VFW Post 4031 in Durango, Colorado.

He leaves to mourn his death his sons, Philip of Beloit, Michael and wife Tammy of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Joseph of Colorado; two grandsons, Nathan and Seth; three granddaughters, Kristen, Nicole, and Shara.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph and Delmar; sister, Thelma Maze; and son Benjamin.

Cremation has taken place and private family burial will take place at a later date.
