Eryka E. Gibbs was born on December 8, 1978, in Chester, PA, the second daughter of Ray and Shirley Gibbs. She departed this life on September 3, 2021, at the age of 42, at Salina Regional Health Center in Kansas. She lived in McPherson all her life and graduated from McPherson High School in 1997. She then briefly attended Johnson &amp; Wales University of Culinary Arts in Providence, Rhode Island. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, McPherson. Eryka was an adamant fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and many other things in life such as music (especially Tupac and Mary J. Blige), dancing, TV, and laughing. On July 1, 2019, she wrote a note, “When I die, please tell my boys I love them and be good! Pray!” Eryka leaves to mourn: her three sons Devantáe RaShawn Gibbs of Missouri, Darriene Artell Gibbs of McPherson, KS, and Dominick John Stimpson of McPherson, KS; her parents Raymond and Shirley Gibbs; sister LyChelle Lawrence (Joel); and brother Raymond Gibbs, II, all of McPherson, KS. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the First Christian Church with Elder Engel Yoder officiating. The family asks that all attendees wear a mask.

Angela Gay Mooneyham, 69, passed away October 3, 2021 in Wichita, KS. She was born October 9, 1951 in Ellsworth, KS to Pauline (LaPierre) and Keith Woodmansee.

Angela worked the last 15 years for USD 259 as a special-needs (para) and teacher at Wichita West High school. She enjoyed working with the youth who had special needs and the disabled. Angela was a graduate of Friends University with a bachelor’s degree. She loved education. &nbsp;

She was a member of the Ellsworth VFW Auxiliary #6485, Mulvane American Legion Auxiliary #136, and the Grace Lutheran Church in Wichita, KS. She loved her family deeply, most of all watching her grandkids grow up and spending time with them whenever she could. She loved to travel and take road trips to visit them every chance she had.

Angela is survived by her son James Mooneyham (Janelle) of Maize, KS; son Jeff Mooneyham of Lewisport, KY; son Jon Mooneyham of Pleasant Hill, MO; grandchildren Grant Mooneyham, Karley Mooneyham, Cooper Dotts, Brianna Mooneyham, Braxton Mooneyham, Landon Mooneyham, Logan Mooneyham, James Daniel Mooneyham, Amelia Mooneyham, John Joseph Mooneyham, and Justus Mooneyham; brother Kent Woodmansee (Betty) of Greenville, TX; and sister Lee LaPierre of Caldwell, KS.

Leroy J. Deaver, 87, of Clay Center, died Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor with family by his side. He was born September 1, 1934, in Grant, NE, the son of Nathan and Anna (Hergott) Deaver. 

Leroy grew up in Fairbury, NE, until moving to Clyde, KS, where he attended Clyde High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 through 1959. 

Leroy married Dorothy Gudenkauf on February 6, 1960. 

He worked for Sears as an appliance repair technician from 1965 until his initial retirement in 1992. He then owned and operated Leroy’s Appliance Service from 1992 until his retirement several years later. 

Leroy was a member of the Saints. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Old Car Nuts Car Club. Along with his car club membership, Leroy’s favorite hobby was restoring classic cars for show, and spending time with family. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo Deaver and sister Rose Eilert.

She was a talented and busy wallpaper and painting contractor for over 30 years in the surrounding area. Marjory was an active member of Valley United Methodist Church. 

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Jack of Marion; children Brett Lynn Sardou of Clearwater, and Jared Sardou of Marion; grandchildren Dalton Sardou, Savanna Sardou, Kalia Spencer and Kiera Spencer; siblings Carol Kelpin of Topeka, Cathy (Steve) Burrell of Topeka, David (Jean) Burke of Valley Center, and Mike (Donna) Burke of Shell Knob, MO. 

Marjory passed away on September 27, 2021, at Salina Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents. 

Marjory’s family will gather with friends on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Valley United Methodist Church for her memorial service led by Pastor Martin Hollar. Marjory will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery following the service.

Paul L. Blochlinger, age 76, of Concordia, passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS. He was born on Dec. 7, 1944 in Concordia, KS to Henry L. and Stella M. (Richard) Blochlinger.

Paul graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1963. He married Delores Conn on March 2, 1965 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Miltonvale.&nbsp; Paul began working for Quartzite Stone Co. and later Abram Ready Mix as a truck driver for over 43 years until his retirement.&nbsp; He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Paul grew up on his family farm in Miltonvale, where he and his brother helped his mom work the family farm and enjoyed riding his horse Sparky.

His favorite pastime was spending time with his wife of 56 years, his children and grandchildren.&nbsp; He loved hunting, fishing, camping and vacationing with his family. Paul believed in hard work, trusting God and loving his family.

He is survived by his wife Delores, Concordia; daughters Sherri Biery (Steve), Clyde and Sandra Zamecnik (John), Salina; son Brad Blochlinger (Krissy), Salina; brother Charles Blochlinger (Mary Beth), Concordia; grandchildren Ryan Biery (Kaitlin), Blake, Austen and Thomas Biery, Trenton (Shannon) Zamecnik, Jadyn Zamecnik, Jarret and Jordan Blochlinger, Kemper Wilson, Rayden and Easton Kirby and great grandchildren Brynn Biery &amp; Brooks Biery.

He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved grandson Tanner Zamecnik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. David Metz officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021 from 1-8 p.m. with a rosary service at 6 p.m. with the family greeting friends after the rosary, all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.&nbsp;

Erik is survived by his wife Alycia Aranda; son Giovani Aranda; daughter Nora Aranda; parents Juan and Maria Mota; sister Yesica Swenson (Eric); nephew Emmett Swenson; nieces Vivia Swenson and Ava Swenson; grandparents Carlos and Rosa Torres, Ma Felix Armenta-Gonzalez, all of Salina.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Maria Guadalupe Mota (Lupita).

A vigil will be held at 5 p.m. and rosary service will commence at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, all at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

HAMMONDSPORT, NY -&nbsp;Steven M. Dreiling, 67, passed from this life on April 7, 2020, due to complications from the COVID-19 virus. Steve was born on November 24, 1952, in Salina, Kansas to Gerard and Coletta Dreiling.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother Kenneth Dreiling.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife Laura M. Opelt; daughter Dr. Bethany and Dr. Ryan Buryta, grandson Jay Buryta (8) and granddaughter Lia Buryta (5), Tyler Allen Buryta (4 mos.), step-daughter Heather and Greg Mastro, granddaughter Lidia Mastro (5) and grandson, Thomas Mastro (3); stepdaughter Jamie Shaw, stepdaughter Amanda and Adam Musfelt, granddaughters Anna, Aubry, and April Musfelt, sons Chris and Casey Dreiling, and grandson Cody Dreiling. Steve is also survived by his brother Gerald and Linda Dreiling and sister Marlyn Compton along with several nieces and nephews.

Steve was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from 1970 - 1976 on the U.S.S. Independence. He worked for (Westinghouse) Philips Lighting and transferred to the Bath Plant in 1988 where he served as the human resources manager for 17 years. In 2005, Steve transitioned to a new position with Philips, overseeing human resources for the distribution plants located within the US. Unfortunately, in 2006 Steve suffered a significant stroke and subsequently was unable to continue his career. Over the next 15 years Steve faced many health-related challenges and obstacles and somehow persevered and never lost his sense of humor.

Steve took pleasure in cars and building models. He enjoyed sports, whether it was watching his daughters play in high school or rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and Michigan State Spartans. He loved and enjoyed his pets and grandchildren most of all.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Sacred Heart Cathedral.&nbsp; Military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

He graduated from Abilene High School in 2013, and proudly worked as a chef de cuisine at the Salina Country Club.

River’s greatest passions were cooking, reading and skateboarding. Rain or shine, summer heat or icy winter days, you would find River skating in his free time. He was not only passionate about it, but incredibly talented as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

River possessed a kind and loving heart and loved his family dearly. All who knew River soon learned that he was a gentle soul and a good friend.

He was preceded in death by his papa Ed Scheele, and Uncle Adam Millner. 

River is survived by his parents David Millner and Chalsea Millner; best friend and brother Killian Millner and wife Sheridan; sister Zoe Millner; grandparents Shirley Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Dick and Marita Millner, Lynda and Russell Neely, aunt Jill and uncle Steve Lang; uncle Chad and aunt Becky Wilson; cousins Olivia and Ava Crist; Cainon and Grace Wilson.&nbsp; River is also survived by many more family members and friends who will miss his company and infectious smile.

Jean Regier, 85, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Saturday, October 2, peacefully, at Heartland Haven, Inman, Kansas. Jean was born in Larned, Kansas on July 26, 1936, a daughter of Naomi Valentine (Thorp) and Charles Edward Bartley. Jean attended the Great Bend grade schools and graduated from Great Bend High School, Great Bend, Kansas. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and she received her degree in education. Jean Bartley was united in marriage to Jerome K. Regier on June 12, 1960 at Great Bend, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Moses Lake, Washington while Jerome was in the Air Force. Following Jerome's discharge they then moved to McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Rick and Bart. Jerome died on June 26, 2014. Jean was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. After the boys were in school, she was a substitute teacher in McPherson County, was an assistant to her husband Jerome, and office manager at Countryside Animal Clinic. After they sold the clinic, she worked part-time for McPherson College and Dillons. Jean loved her pets with a special passion and she shared that with her kids and grandkids. She loved tailgating at all the K-State games, and cheering on the Wildcats! She also had a love for cooking and fixed Sunday dinners almost every week! Her specialty was fried chicken! She is survived by her sons Rick Regier and wife Michelle, of McPherson, Kansas and Bart Regier and wife Laura, of McPherson, Kansas; her six grandchildren Brandon Schmidt and wife Tiffany, Kale Regier, Dylan Schmidt and wife Danielle, Mariah Regier, Cheyenne Regier, and Ross Regier; her seven great-grandchildren, Makayla Schmidt, Madison Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt, Evan Schmidt, Brexton Schmidt, Thea Schmidt, and Gavin Schmidt; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Valentine Bartley; her husband of over 54 years Jerome Regier; her brothers James Bartley and Lawrence "Bill" Bartley and her sister, Elizabeth Erwin. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 5 pm to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Jackson Cole Schrader passed away September 28, 2021. He was born February 1, 2002, in Salina, Kansas to Matthew and Ami (Parker) Schrader. He attended McPherson, Kansas public schools and graduated as valedictorian of his class in 2020. Jackson was a compassionate, funny and intelligent son, brother, and friend who will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved him. He was musically gifted and played the saxophone in the marching and symphonic bands. He played the guitar in jazz band and in the pit orchestra for high school musicals. He also performed in many guitar recitals for the Kennedy Guitar Studio and was a member of a guitar trio that won their category in the Oklahoma City Guitar Festival in 2018. Jackson played tennis in high school and was part of the undefeated 2018 state championship team. He and his partner Rhett Edmonson placed 10th in doubles and that placement helped clinch the state title. He also participated in cross country and soccer. Jackson had the goal of becoming a psychiatrist and attended his freshman year of college at Kansas State University then transferred in the fall of 2021 to begin his sophomore year at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was drawn to Case Western by its cultural and academic opportunities and left a positive imprint on other students and faculty in his short time there. Jackson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McPherson and played guitar regularly with the praise band for years. He also attended youth group and participated in the church’s SERVE days focused on community service. Jackson truly loved his two dogs, Tucker and Jet, and enjoyed spending time with them. Jackson is survived by his parents Matthew and Ami Schrader of McPherson, Kansas and his brother Nolan Schrader of Newton, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents. The visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of McPherson on Tuesday, October 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6 at the church. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Dennis was raised in the Clifton community and was a graduate of Clifton High School class of 1967.&nbsp; He served as a U.S. Army Ranger in Vietnam.&nbsp; Dennis married Mary Laughlin on August 10, 1970.&nbsp; He worked for Gilmore-Tatge manufacturing in Clay Center for 51 years, and currently held the position of president of the company.&nbsp; Mary preceded him in death on June 22, 2012.&nbsp; 

In his free time, Dennis was an avid reader.&nbsp; He was a member of the BPOE and the American Legion Post 101 where he was past post commander.&nbsp; 

Dennis was also preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Lyle Walters; and sister Sherry Montgomery.

Edie was born in Paris, Kentucky on January 18, 1926 to Bessie Bell (Morris) and John Egbert Cart.&nbsp; Edie was married to Clyde (Robie) Robideaux&nbsp; for 62 wonderful years before his passing in December, 2010.

Edie and Robie had the opportunity to live and raise their family in various towns throughout the U.S. as a result of Robie’s career.&nbsp; Edie loved sports and activities of all kinds. Throughout her life she was a fisherwoman, water-skier, league bowler, bridge club enthusiast, garden club member, avid golfer and had a passion for dancing with her favorite partner, Robie.&nbsp; Edie was quick-witted, funny, kind, thoughtful, and compassionate to all who had the great good fortune to know her.

Edie is survived by her three children, Connie (Tom) Deschene of Salina, KS; Denise (Dan) Carpenter of Spicer, MN; and John (Margo Nutz) Robideaux of Savannah, GA, as well as grandchildren Denna Dudzik, Paul Sandberg, Karli Zuege, Jeff Carpenter, Melissa Hogzett, Emily VanGrinsven, Mitch Carpenter, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband Clyde (Robie) Robideaux, granddaughter Julie Carpenter, her parents, three sisters, one brother, and two half-sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina, KS. Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Penny Rae Farris, age 68 and a resident of Marquette, KS, died Sunday September 26, 2021. Penny was born on June 2, 1953 in Iola, KS to Richard Elvin Gerdsen and Blanche Irene (Marsh)Rose. 

She and her older brother Richard Leon Gerdsen attended high school in Lakin, Kansas. Later Penny became a long-time resident of the Wichita, KS area where she worked several years in the aircraft industry and gave birth to her daughters Kali Saleen Stourhaug (1976) and Tia Thayer Carter (1978).  Later Penny became stepmother to Toni Michelle Everett and adopted Derek Dwight Sanderson and Kylie Raelynn Sanderson. 

In 1993 Penny began her more than 25 years of working for the United States Postal Service, becoming a career employee in 2004, as postmaster in Murdock, KS. After meeting Don, Penny took the postmaster position in Marquette where she was still working. Penny was a very loyal and dedicated employee which often times led her to travel to countless offices to cover and train employees.

In 2012, Penny met her husband Donald Lee Farris, they were married July 26, 2019. When Penny met Don she welcomed his sons Donald Lee Dubois Farris and Nicholas Farris, along with their wives and children into her family. Together Penny and Don loved to go camping and to visit friends and family. Penny was an avid collector of Wizard of Oz memorabilia and would take trips to Florida to take in all the Disney World parks every chance that she could.  Penny was very proud of her family, especially all of her grandchildren and loved to tell anyone about them.

She is survived by her husband Don Farris; mother Blanche Rose; brother Richard Leon Gerdsen (Diane); four of her children, Kali Storhaug (Vincent) of Melbourne FL, Tia Carter (Mark) of Jennings KS, Derek Sanderson (Kim) of Palmer AK and Toni Everett of Wichita KS; stepsons Donald Lee Dubois Farris (Justine) and Nicholas Farris (Rachel); 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Elvin Gerdsen and her daughter Kylie Sanderson. 

Family will be receiving friends and family Thursday October 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held Friday October 8at 10 a.m. at the Crick-Christians Funeral Home in Lindsborg, KS. Family is asking for casual dress attire.

Penny was very proud of her family, especially all of her grandchildren and loved to tell anyone about them.She is survived by her husband Don Farris; mother Blanche Rose; brother Richard Leon Gerdsen (Diane); four of her children, Kali Storhaug (Vincent) of Melbourne FL, Tia Carter (Mark) of Jennings KS, Derek Sanderson (Kim) of Palmer AK and Toni Everett of Wichita KS; stepsons Donald Lee Dubois Farris (Justine) and Nicholas Farris (Rachel); 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Elvin Gerdsen and her daughter Kylie Sanderson. Family will be receiving friends and family Thursday October 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home. Rose was born in Landstuhl-Pfalz, Germany on November 17, 1957, a daughter of Shirley Mae (Burchfield) and Frank Edmund Wade. Rose attended Halstead Elementary in Copperas Cove, Texas, and graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1976. She then attended Brown Mackie Business College where she received her degree in business and computer science. She then attended Baylor University, Waco, Texas where she received her master's degree in accounting. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Coppersas Cove, TX, where she was raised and baptized. Through the years, Rose was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She later worked as a bartender for several different places in Salina and McPherson, worked for Nations Pizza, Tony's Pizza, and Websco as a manager, all of Salina. She also worked for Cartridge King as the distribution supervisor, Van Guard Plastics as a executive assistant, and Dillons grocery as overnight stocking. Rose was a volunteer for Relay For Life. She enjoyed her family and friends, riding motorcycles, loved all animals, was a veracious reader, and loved going to concerts. Rosemari Elaine Wade Johannes was united in marriage to Jimmy Welling. They later divorced. Kristine was born on February 16, 1952, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Norman Allen and Lila Lee (Bowers) Becker. She graduated from McPherson High School.

She was united in marriage to Norbert E. Hoyer in Newton, KS. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2003. In addition to living in McPherson, Kristine also lived in Mississippi and Virginia. She loved cooking and baking. Other enjoyments included traveling, shopping (especially at Walmart and Dillons), gardening, and watching soap operas. She loved all animals, and her favorites included dogs and cats. Robert “Bob” Louis Swan, 96, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at The Cedars Assisted Living Facility, McPherson. Bob was born on June 5, 1925, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Elizabeth (Barton) Swan.

He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1943. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served during WWII. 

On July 15, 1944, Bob was united in marriage to Iris K. Coggeshall in Rogers Park, IL. 

She preceded him in death on September 3, 2010. He married Lena (Fast) Gookin in 2012, and she passed away on January 16, 2020. Bob worked at The Coleman Company in Wichita where he learned the tool and die trade. He then went to work for Nibarger Tool Service in Wichita. In 1975, Bob took a job in McPherson at Midwest Industries, where he was a tool and die maker, retiring in 1990. For several years following retirement, he continued part-time employment at Midwest Industries. He was a member of Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church, Galva. Survivors include: four children, Michael Swan of Las Vegas, NV, Marla Frisby of Gladstone, MO, Janet White (Crayton) of Trimble, MO, and Joy Schellenger (Ray) of Paris, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles &amp; Elizabeth Swan; wives Iris Swan and Lena Swan; a daughter Lindee Griswold; and his siblings. Jo was a graduate of Herington High School and graduated from Emporia State University with a degree in business management. She worked several jobs in her lifetime to include real estate, banking and office manager for United Farm Agency in Kansas City. 

Besides several years in Kansas City, Jo never left the farm until she moved into Diversicare of Council Grove with her sister. She and her sister Becky, loved to travel the country and parts of Canada, chasing their family genealogy. She also loved to spend time with family and friends especially her sister.

Jo is survived by her sister Becky of Council Grove and several cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

 Family will host friends at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Herington October 6, 2021, from 10:00 till the service starts at 11:00. Service will be at 11:00 with internment at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington.
