Cynthia Barrett Obituary 2022 - Yazel - Megli Funeral Homes (yazelmeglifh.com)

August 31, 1955 - March 6, 2022

Cynthia’s life began on August 31, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dale and Eunice (Boyer) Christensen. Cynthia was a 1973 graduate of Marion High School and attended Flint Hills Technical College.

She spent much of her adult life serving others, including working at Marion Assisted Living, caring for the elderly in their homes, and preparing meals at Marion Elementary. Cynthia had a servant’s heart and being a caregiver came naturally to her.

She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, dancing, cooking, serving others, listening to live music, and being outdoors. Family was the cornerstone of her life.  She took great pride in her family and enjoyed spending quality time with her two grandsons, who affectionately referred to her as “Nana.”

She is survived by her daughter Kayla (Brock) McClain and grandsons Maxwell and Barrett McClain of Overland Park, twin sister Cindy (Glen) Sisson of Council Grove, sister Sherie (John) Mulvenon of Marion, loving companion Ron Makovec of Lincolnville, former spouse David Barrett of Emporia, and several nieces and nephews.

Cynthia passed away in her home under the loving care of Good Shepherd Hospice and surrounded by her close friends and family on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Cynthia’s life will be held Saturday, March 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Marion Christian Church. Burial will be at the Marion Cemetery. Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
