Shirley Ann Jones, 87, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Friday, June 24th, 2022 while in the company of family at her home. Shirley was born in Colby, Kansas on March 14, 1935, a daughter of Theresa (White) and Joseph Andrew Laurent. Shirley attended the Colby grade school, and graduated from Colby High School, Colby, Kansas. Shirley Ann Laurent was united in marriage to Earl Vincent Duncan on September 26, 1952 at Colby, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They were blessed with the birth of seven children, Brenda, Sandra, Gordon, Terri, David, Tammie, and Rebecca.

Shirley was united in marriage to Earl Lee Jones on March 16, 1985 at McPherson, Kansas. This union brought four more children into the fold, Linda, Chris, Patti, and Tammi. Shirley was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked at Lee's IGA and later at Farmers Alliance Insurance Company in the mail room, both of McPherson, and the Olathe School District working in the central kitchen. Shirley was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 153 in Olathe and volunteered for Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. Shirley enjoyed camping, dancing, bowling, gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens, watching old westerns and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She is survived by her children Brenda Dietrich, of Topeka, Kansas, Sandy Headley and husband Steve, of Uniontown, Kansas, Terri Schrag, and husband Don, of McPherson, Kansas, Dave Duncan and wife Jodi, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Tammie Eichinger and husband Steve, of Olathe, Kansas, and Becky Longfellow, of Lenexa, Kansas; her stepchildren, Debbie Jones, of Olathe, Kansas, Patti Bagley, and husband Don, of Olathe, Kansas and Tammi Cooley, of Olathe, Kansas; her sister, Maxine Bohn and husband Delbert, of McPherson, Kansas her sister-in-law, Joan Laurent, of Arvada, Colorado; her 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with one on the way!; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl Jones, son Gordon Duncan, a brother, Donald Laurent; a step-daughter, Linda Scahill and a step-son, Chris Jones; and a son-in-law Gerald Dietrich. The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson, Kansas. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1st 2022 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Darrell Cooper officiating. Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas. Delores “Dee” Ouellette, 80, died Sunday, June 26, 2022 at her residence in Clay Center, KS surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She was born February 14, 1942 in Clifton, KS to Elden and Mabel (Lillibridge) Hill. Dee grew up and attended school in Clifton. 

On October 29, 1959 she was united in marriage to Raymond “Jerry” Ouellette. The couple traveled with Jerry’s occupation as a surveyor before moving to Clay Center in 1970.

They owned and operated several local businesses over the years including the Silver Dollar, Dee &amp; Jerry’s, Tiger’s Den, Low Places, Southside and Donley’s Liquor Store. Dee was also employed at the locker plant, Boogaart’s and was the cafeteria supervisor at Clay Center Community Middle School for many years before retiring. Dee was member of the Clay Center Christian Church, B.P.O.E. and the Eagles. &nbsp;

Dee knew no stranger, was a great friend to many and always wore a smile. She was known to countless others as “Grandma Dee” and it’s undoubtedly from her loving and caring nature. One of her favorite things to do was support her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their activities, including sports. She was their #1 fan and rarely missed a game. &nbsp;Every year Dee looked forward to hosting Christmas Eve at her house with all of her family and closest friends which always included a picture with “Santa and Mrs. Claus.”

Dee is preceded in death by her parents Elden and Mabel Hill and husband Jerry.&nbsp; 

Survivors include daughter Sandra (Kim) Carpenter of Clay Center, KS; daughter Karen (Russ) Britt of Cabot, Arkansas; son Kenneth (Jackie) Ouellette of Clay Center, KS; son Michael (Trisa) Ouellette of Clay Center, KS; sister Linda (Fred) Lupher of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law Annette (Scott) Woodbury of Hutchinson, KS; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Respect calls will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, KS. Funeral services will be held at the Clay Center United Methodist Church on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.

Dee Ouellette

Charles Earl Mallory, 48, died June 22, 2022, in Torrington, WY. He was born on September 19, 1973, in Beloit, KS, the son of Donald and Betty (Taylor) Mallory. 

Charles was raised in Kansas before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served with the 425th Transportation Company while stationed in Iraq. Charles also served with the Army Fire Department while stationed in Texas. While in the Army, Charles received the Rifle Marksman medal and the Army Achievement medal for the Rail Load Operation. 

Following his time in the Army, Charles worked as a truck driver for the Clay Center Street Department and for the Wyoming Dept. of Transportation as a highway maintenance technician. 

Wherever Charles went, he made friends and they became family to him. Charles was a great man and was loved by everyone who knew him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a sister, and a brother

Crystal Marie Rising Phillips passed beyond the veil on Friday June 24, 2022.

She was born on June 15, 1978 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert Rising and Dorothy Mortimer Rising.

She is survived by her son Taylin Phillips of Herington, daughter Natalie Phillips of Herington as well as her former husband, father of her children and best friend, Jimmy R. Phillips, Jr. of Herington, Kansas. She is also survived by her mother Dorothy and stepfather Jimmy Daugherty of Lakeland, Florida, and her father Robert Rising of Maumee, Ohio. &nbsp;She also leaves behind brothers Marc Rising of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ryan Rising of Las Vegas Nevada, Shane Rising of Springville, Utah, Robbie Rising of Toledo, Ohio, Drake Rising of Lambertville, Michigan and Aaron Rising of Rossford, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many many friends from around the world.

She is preceded in death by her stepbrother Anthony Daugherty of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Crys spent her childhood in Las Vegas. She met her husband Jimmy there and they were married and had two children, Taylin and Natalie. She enjoyed working in the funeral service industry where her husband owned Valley Memorial Cremation and Burial in Henderson and Las Vegas. She thoroughly enjoyed serving others in their time of need, especially those forgotten, left behind and young. She later followed Jimmy when he joined the United States Army and they enjoyed traveling the world together with their children, including Hawaii, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria, France, and the Netherlands.

In Honolulu, Hawaii, Hickam Air Force Base, Crys was the accountant for the Hickam Officers Club where she enjoyed serving and made many new friends. In Germany, Crys was a librarian for Moral Welfare and Recreation assigned to U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach. She enjoyed this assignment as it combined the two passions in her life, reading and making new friends. She was greatly loved by many in the garrison and continued lifelong friendships from her time there. 

Crys enjoyed the opportunity to travel and share the world with her children and encouraged them to live life as an adventure and never stop trying something new. &nbsp;She happily served as a military spouse for decades supporting her heavily deployed husband with honor and commitment, as well as raising her children on her own for great amounts of time.&nbsp; Crys served her country and did it well.

Crys was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.&nbsp; She was sealed to her family for all time and eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple.&nbsp; She thoroughly enjoyed serving her heavenly Father &nbsp;through the Bishops Storehouse distributing food to the needy.&nbsp; She served in the community whenever a neighbor was in need. &nbsp;Her home was always open to visiting missionaries and she considered them her foster children.&nbsp; Her home and dinner table was a destination of choice for home cooking, games and fun.&nbsp;

Crys “belonged” to two dogs which preceded her in death, the Chinese Shar-pei, Beetle Bailey, as well as the much-loved Yorkshire Terrier, Charlie Brown.&nbsp; She is survived by the Dinmont Dandy, Jade, who mourns for her greatly.

Crys was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2020. She fought for two years with intense chemotherapy, radiation therapy as well as endured a double mastectomy.&nbsp; The day before Crys passed beyond the veil she was adamant she was continuing to fight and would beat this cancer. She said “I don’t need hospice. I am going to beat this and walk out of here.” That is the Crys we all knew and loved.&nbsp; She absolutely never gave up, no matter how sick, miserable or downtrodden she felt.&nbsp; Her friends and family lifted her high and encouraged her and we know that when she could no longer continue, our heavenly Father picked her up and carried her further.&nbsp;

Private services will be held with the family.

The family would like to voice our great appreciation to the Herington Hospital, The Legacy at Herington, Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County, Kay’s Pharmacy, Yazel-Megli Funeral Homes, First Christian Church and The Herington Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars for their outstanding care, dedication to excellence and eagerness to assist us in everything we could possibly need to help Crys and the family in this transition.&nbsp; It takes more than a few houses to make a community and family is more than blood.&nbsp; We humbly thank the Herington Community for their acceptance and love in these trying times.

Phillips, Jr. of Herington, Kansas. She is also survived by her mother Dorothy and stepfather Jimmy Daugherty of Lakeland, Florida, and her father Robert Rising of Maumee, Ohio. &nbsp;She also leaves behind brothers Marc Rising of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ryan Rising of Las Vegas Nevada, Shane Rising of Springville, Utah, Robbie Rising of Toledo, Ohio, Drake Rising of Lambertville, Michigan and Aaron Rising of Rossford, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many many friends from around the world.She is preceded in death by her stepbrother Anthony Daugherty of Tulsa, Oklahoma.Crys spent her childhood in Las Vegas. She met her husband Jimmy there and they were married and had two children, Taylin and Natalie. She enjoyed working in the funeral service industry where her husband owned Valley Memorial Cremation and Burial in Henderson and Las Vegas. She thoroughly enjoyed serving others in their time of need, especially those forgotten, left behind and young. She later followed Jimmy when he joined the United States Army and they enjoyed traveling the world together with their children, including Hawaii, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria, France, and the Netherlands.In Honolulu, Hawaii, Hickam Air Force Base, Crys was the accountant for the Hickam Officers Club where she enjoyed serving and made many new friends. In Germany, Crys was a librarian for Moral Welfare and Recreation assigned to U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach. She enjoyed this assignment as it combined the two passions in her life, reading and making new friends. She was greatly loved by many in the garrison and continued lifelong friendships from her time there. Crys enjoyed the opportunity to travel and share the world with her children and encouraged them to live life as an adventure and never stop trying something new. &nbsp;She happily served as a military spouse for decades supporting her heavily deployed husband with honor and commitment, as well as raising her children on her own for great amounts of time.&nbsp; Crys served her country and did it well.Crys was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.&nbsp; She was sealed to her family for all time and eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple.&nbsp; She thoroughly enjoyed serving her heavenly Father &nbsp;through the Bishops Storehouse distributing food to the needy.&nbsp; She served in the community whenever a neighbor was in need. &nbsp;Her home was always open to visiting missionaries and she considered them her foster children.&nbsp; Her home and dinner table was a destination of choice for home cooking, games and fun.&nbsp;Crys “belonged” to two dogs which preceded her in death, the Chinese Shar-pei, Beetle Bailey, as well as the much-loved Yorkshire Terrier, Charlie Brown.&nbsp; She is survived by the Dinmont Dandy, Jade, who mourns for her greatly.Crys was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2020. She fought for two years with intense chemotherapy, radiation therapy as well as endured a double mastectomy.&nbsp; The day before Crys passed beyond the veil she was adamant she was continuing to fight and would beat this cancer. She said “I don’t need hospice. Robert Carl Ketterman, age 75, entered into rest on Friday, June 24, 2022, at his residence in Concordia, Kansas. He was born on June 27, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas to Charles and Adeline (Aveiro) Ketterman.

Robert grew up in Hawaii till age 16. He eventually enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.

Robert worked for Concordia Apartments as a maintenance man until he retired. Robert was very skilled in construction, roofing, drywall, carpet, and also enjoyed making cabinets. He worked for many different people over the years with all his skills. He very diligently worked to build his own house that he resided in until death. 

He was a member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church for 30 plus years. He taught bible study, drove the church bus, took youth kids camping and down the river in boats. Robert gave lawn mower rides at the Community Easter Egg hunt as well as Trunk 'N Treat events. He enjoyed his Life Connection Family at Concordia Wesleyan and faithfully attended Sunday services and seldom missed a service. 

Robert enjoyed fishing, going to the races, making cabinets, going on morning rides for his prayer time. He enjoyed working and always had a sense of satisfaction with the quality of his work. Robert had a heart for kids and did foster care. He enjoyed noodles and eating out at Chinese restaurants. Robert had a good sense of humor and was quite a jokester. He enjoyed studying his bible, wrote and told parables, and many insightful sayings. His faith was very important to him and he had a heart for people and their salvation.

He is survived by his son, Bobby (Laura) children, Tayler and Kylie; son, Jamey (Brandi) child, Ian; son, Brian (Jennifer) children Hailey, Tristin, Jeremyah, Trinadee; daughter, Chrissy (Mick) children, Marcus, Cassadie, Olivia, and Mason; daughter, Patty (Scott) children Chase, Carlie, Wyatt; son, Shad (Amber) children, Annabelle and Elsie; two great-grandkids, Case and Maverick, five sisters and two brothers. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Adeline, two brothers, three grandsons, Logan, Elliott, and Warren, two granddaughters, MacKenzee and Kyra.

It was Robert’s wishes to be cremated and A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m., July 8, 2022 at the Concordia Wesleyan Church, Concordia, Kansas with Pastor David Redmond officiating. Family will receive friends on the morning of service from 8:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp;

&nbsp;February 7th, 1938 - June 26th, 2022

Carolyn A. Wester was born February 7, 1938 in Lemay, Missouri, the daughter of Stephen F. and Margaret (Gender) Seninger Jr. She passed peacefully with loving care from her family and the wonderful, considerate care from the staff at Valley View Senior Center on Sunday June 26, 2022. She graduated from Mehlville Senior High School in Mehlville, Missouri with the class of 1956. She was united in marriage to John Herman Wester, Jr in St. Louis, Missouri and had been a longtime Junction City area resident. Carolyn was a military wife and mother who supported her husband during most of his 22 years serving his country. She also worked for the Geary County Sheriff Department for a time in dispatch. Carolyn was a warm hearted, outgoing person who made friends wherever she went. Her generous personality and sense of humor made her welcome friend who cared about people and their problems. Her hobbies were numerous. She began painting while colorizing her father’s customers' black and white portraits and enjoyed painting flowers, wildlife and freehand landscapes throughout her life. Amongst her other numerous hobbies she enjoyed quilting, ceramics and sewing. She is survived by her daughter Diane Margaret Wester, brother Dr. Stephen F. Seninger III, sister-in-law Daphne Herling, and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband John, son Mark, and her parents. Services for Carolyn will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery near Manhattan. Cremation has been selected and there will be no visitation.

Wester was born February 7, 1938 in Lemay, Missouri, the daughter of Stephen F. and Margaret (Gender) Seninger Jr. She passed peacefully with loving care from her family and the wonderful, considerate care from the staff at Valley View Senior Center on Sunday June 26, 2022. She graduated from Mehlville Senior High School in Mehlville, Missouri with the class of 1956. She was united in marriage to John Herman Wester, Jr in St. Louis, Missouri and had been a longtime Junction City area resident. Carolyn was a military wife and mother who supported her husband during most of his 22 years serving his country. She also worked for the Geary County Sheriff Department for a time in dispatch. Carolyn was a warm hearted, outgoing person who made friends wherever she went. Her generous personality and sense of humor made her welcome friend who cared about people and their problems. Her hobbies were numerous. She began painting while colorizing her father’s customers' black and white portraits and enjoyed painting flowers, wildlife and freehand landscapes throughout her life. Amongst her other numerous hobbies she enjoyed quilting, ceramics and sewing. She is survived by her daughter Diane Margaret Wester, brother Dr. Stephen F. Seninger III, sister-in-law Daphne Herling, and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband John, son Mark, and her parents. Services for Carolyn will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery near Manhattan. Cremation has been selected and there will be no visitation.

She met her husband, Russell Roberg, in Kansas City, MO. and was married July 22, 1950. She moved to Salina with her husband in 1963.

She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Ron) Stephens, Navarre, FL, Dorothy Dickerman, Salina, KS, and Joan (Paul) Schultz, McPherson, KS; and two sons, Tod (Jeanette) Roberg, Salina, KS, and Jeff (Pepper) Roberg, Beloit, KS. She has sixteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Ramen Messmer, Appleton City, MO, Frank (Billie) Messmer Raymore, MO; one sister, Shirley (Houston) Anderson, Peculiar, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Roberg, one daughter, Jane Halloway, her parents brothers, Robert Messmer and David Messmer, one sister, Bertha Mae Loyd, and one grandson and one great-great-grandson.

She is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salina, KS. She worked in Kansas City for Central Products as a glass cutter for several years, starting at the age of 16. She worked for Bethany Home, Lindsborg, KS for four years. She was a homemaker the majority of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp; She taught Sunday School classes for seven years at Blue Ridge Trinity Lutheran Church in Raytown, MO, and she enjoyed collecting dolls for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, June 30, 2022 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina, Ks. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 in the Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Visitation will be held at the Ryan Mortuary on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 4 until 8 p.m. that evening.

James Leroy "Jimbo" Lytle&nbsp;was born in Salina, Kansas on May 22, 1960, to James V. and Marilyn JoAnn Johnson Lytle. Jim married his rainbow, Pam (Bordner) on June 6, 1987, at Lakewood Discovery Center. He entered eternal rest at the age of 62 on June 22, 2022.

He graduated from Salina High School South, class of 1978. He was a resident of Salina until 2001, when he and Pam bought their forever home in the country in Ottawa County. At the time of his death, he was a tram driver and special tours driver for Rolling Hills Zoo.

His first job was at Baskin Robbins during high school. Then in the fall of 1978 started as an apprentice electrician with the family business, Lytle Electric, Inc. which his father started in 1973. He became a licensed journeyman electrician in March 1988. He did the electrical on many Salina and area businesses too many to list, however, his church, Emmanuel Four Square Church was one highlight. Jim started a continuing education adult electrical program in January 1993. He was the network cabling supervisor/manager at ISG Technologies, Inc. in 1998-2000, a building systems tech and electrician senior at the Kansas Highway Patrol in Salina 2003-2006. In 2006-2010, he was the PME physical plant supervisor at K-State Salina. Then, he had the opportunity to start the electrical program at Salina Area Technical College in 2010. He produced several great young electricians during his tenure and the family hears their praises of Jim often. 

During early 2016, he was not working outside the home and took great care of Pam’s mother until her death from cancer. His hobbies included his grandchildren, Native American culture and crafts, gardening, birding, scouting, other outdoor activities to name a few. His job at RHZ was a perfect fit!

He is survived by wife Pam, son Jason (Amanda), daughter Heather (Donavon), parents James V. and Marilyn JoAnn Lytle, 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother David, sisters Kim, Debbie (Duncan), Sue, brothers-in-law Greg, Keith, aunts Grace, Laverne, Allene, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Preceded in death by mother and father-in-law, grandparents, aunts and uncles, nephew, and special friend Lisa Carter.&nbsp;&nbsp;

There will be no visitation as his wishes were to be cremated. His celebration of Life will be on Saturday, July 2nd at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Church, 1325 E. Cloud St. We ask that you please wear his favorite color, green or camo, scouting attire or your best “Jim” outfit. Let us keep his mismatched outfits alive! 

There will be a memorial account at First Bank of Kansas. The other memorial suggestions at this time are Rolling Hills Zoo, Boy Scouts of America (Coronado Council), Emmanuel Church and education for the grandchildren. We will also have a memorial for him at Rolling Hills Zoo at a later date.

She worked in housekeeping at Howard Johnson Hotel, worked at Tony's Pizza, and was a nighttime attendant at Arbor Court. On July 7, 1962, Sharon married Virgil Sprague in Salina. Survivors include her husband Virgil; four daughters, Vicky Troyer, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Roxanna Kendrick (Kerry), of Lindsborg, Lora Gordon (Richard), of Salina, Shelly Quiring (Lynn), of Queen Creek, Arizona; sister Jolene Jones, of Norman, Oklahoma; two brothers, Gerald Davis, of Preston, Texas and Larry Davis, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eddie was a 1973 graduate of Minneapolis High School and he worked at Great Plains in Salina and &nbsp;Abilene for over 25 years.&nbsp; Eddie and Vera Smith were married on November 10, 1973, in Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Jerry.

Survivors are his wife Vera; daughter Brandy Egbarts and her husband Martin; son Joe Freeman; mother Arlene Crist; sisters Carol Freeman and Janet Meade; grandchildren Tyler Hohner and his wife Miranda, Quinn Egbarts, and Raylee Freeman; and great-grandchildren Levi and Carter Hohner.

Kenneth Raymond Stein, 79, died June 26, 2022, at Wesley Medical 
Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on April 15, 1943, in Spearville, 
Kansas, the son of Eugene Patrick and Josephine (Torline) Stein.

Ken was a lifetime resident living on the family far south of Wright,
 Kansas. He completed eight grades at the Wright elementary school and 
complete four years of high school at St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge 
City. He played football for the “Crusaders” and played one year of 
football for the “Cavaliers” before marrying his high school sweetheart,
 Hattie Brown on January 5, 1963, in Buffalo, Oklahoma. She survives. He 
worked for the Kansas Gas Service for 25 years before retiring. Kenny 
had a passion for farming and taking care of the family farm. He also 
loved coaching Babe Ruth Baseball and going to Monday night pool league.
 Kenny was also a very creative wood and metal artist creating many 
things in his shop. He was well known at the gas plant for engineering 
an emergency escape door handle for the gas plant, which he received a 
patent on from the government for his invention. Kenny was an avid 
Cincinnati Bengals fan.

He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, St. Andrews Knights 
of Columbus, Wright Senior Center and Monday Night Pool League all of 
Wright.

He is survived by his wife Hattie of the home; two sons Douglas Stein
 and wife Donna of Salina, Kansas; Patrick Stein of Petersburg,

Maurice Stein of Chandler, Arizona as well as 18 grandchildren and 16 
great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Josephine Stein; 
one brother Floyd Stein and two sisters Carol Jean Allen and Valeria 
Mueller as well as two great grandchildren Beckham Berzins and Jess 
Stein.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church on Thursday,
 June 30, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ted&nbsp; Stoecklein presiding. Burial 
will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Wright. Visitation will be at 
Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 
PM. Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 
St. Andrews Catholic Church in Wright, Kansas.

 </figure>Kenneth Raymond Stein, 79, died June 26, 2022, at Wesley Medical 
Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on April 15, 1943, in Spearville, 
Kansas, the son of Eugene Patrick and Josephine (Torline) Stein.Ken was a lifetime resident living on the family far south of Wright,
 Kansas. He completed eight grades at the Wright elementary school and 
complete four years of high school at St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge 
City. He played football for the “Crusaders” and played one year of 
football for the “Cavaliers” before marrying his high school sweetheart,
 Hattie Brown on January 5, 1963, in Buffalo, Oklahoma. She survives. He 
worked for the Kansas Gas Service for 25 years before retiring. Kenny 
had a passion for farming and taking care of the family farm. He also 
loved coaching Babe Ruth Baseball and going to Monday night pool league.
 Kenny was also a very creative wood and metal artist creating many 
things in his shop. He was well known at the gas plant for engineering 
an emergency escape door handle for the gas plant, which he received a 
patent on from the government for his invention. Kenny was an avid 
Cincinnati Bengals fan.He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, St. Andrews Knights 
of Columbus, Wright Senior Center and Monday Night Pool League all of 
Wright.He is survived by his wife Hattie of the home; two sons Douglas Stein
 and wife Donna of Salina, Kansas; Patrick Stein of Petersburg,

Kenneth Raymond Stein

Phillip Erlin Schweitzer, 74, of Osborne, Kansas, passed away Monday, 
June 20, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He 
was born on March 12, 1948, in Concordia, Kansas, to Erlin and Harriet 
(Leaver) Schweitzer. Phillip was the youngest of three siblings. 
 He grew up on the family farm east of Osborne. Phillip lived in 
Osborne for the majority of his life. As a child, he also lived in 
Roswell, New Mexico, and Claremont, California while his father’s 
construction company was completing jobs. He graduated from Osborne High
 School and went on to attend Fort Hays State University and then Brown 
Mackie College in Salina, Kansas. After college, Phillip worked as a 
bookkeeper at Quenzer Appliance in Osborne, KS, and helped his father on
 the farm. He soon joined the family farm full time where he worked 
until his death. His family was his pride and joy. He would do anything 
for his family. Phillip attended and helped with countless activities 
that his kids and grandkids participated in. In addition to his love for
 farming, he enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood, hunting, tending to 
the family pool, shooting fireworks, and hosting family barbeques &amp; 
holidays. He loved working with his hands and later in life developed a 
knack for carpentry after helping build the home they currently reside 
in. Phillip was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osborne, 
Kansas. 
 On September 13, 1969, Phillip married Carole Hadley from Portis, 
Kansas, and had three children, Joelle, Shawn, and Ashley. In 2019 they 
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. 
 Phillip is survived by wife Carole of the home; three children, 
daughter, Joelle Wolters, and husband Jason of Salina, Kansas; son Shawn
 Schweitzer of Osborne, Kansas, and daughter Ashley Carlson and husband 
Bryce of Perris, California; two sisters, Nancy Lane of Wichita, Kansas

Alberta attended Quinter grade school and graduated from Quinter High School, Quinter, Kansas in 1951. She then attended McPherson College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in home economics in 1955. She was a member of Enders Church of the Brethren, Enders, Nebraska. and in later years she was a member of Church of the Brethren in McPherson. Alberta enjoyed quilting, making sweet rolls, loved her church family and McPherson College, was very involved in special education and loved spending time with her friends and family. Alberta Mae Ebbert was united in marriage to Ronald Eugene Grosbach on Aug. 20, 1954 in Quinter, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. In 1955 they established their home in Enders, NE. They farmed together there until 1988, when Ron passed away. The couple was blessed with the birth of five sons, Dale, Norman, Lyle, Roy and Gary. Alberta continued to reside in Enders until she retired to McPherson in 2017. She is survived by her children Dale Grosbach and his wife Deborah of Gladstone, Missouri, Norman Grosbach and his wife Alice of Gilbert, Arizona, Lyle Grosbach and his wife Cynthia of Rochester, Minnesota, Roy Grosbach and his wife Betty Jo of Evergreen, Colorado and Gary Grosbach of McCook, Nebraska. Judy’s life began on July 27, 1961, in Lawrence, Kansas. She was the daughter of Gene Gerard and Dessie Parthenia (Dean) Bickford. 

Judy had been employed by Barkman Honey Co. in Hillsboro and previously had worked for Scotch Cleaners. She is remembered for her love of her flowers and gardening. Judy was a faithful volunteer for the Marion County Toy Run. She enjoyed cross stitch and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. 

Her loving family includes her longtime partner Robert Thornhill of Ramona; daughter Chelsea (Andrew) Weber of Cedar Point; grandchildren Tucker and Paul Weber and Abigail Smith; and her siblings Joe (Marci) Bickford and Roy (Kaiping) Bickford, both of Lawrence. 

Judy passed away on Friday June 24, 2022, at the Hillsboro Community Hospital. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Jessica Smith. 

A private family celebration will be held, and she will be laid to rest in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family.

LeRoy J&nbsp; “Roy” Steckline, age 91, of 
Ogallah, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, at Trego Lemke&nbsp; 
Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. Roy graduated from Ellis High 
School. On April 25, 1955, he married Jacqueline (Ferland) in Damar, 
Kansas.

Roy was a hardworking man who farmed 
until 1997 and worked as a substitute mail carrier as well as a Trego 
County rural fireman. He was a US Army veteran serving with the 3rd 
infantry in the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic 
Church, Ellis VFW, and Ellis Knights of Columbus. Roy enjoyed decorating
 and landscaping with antiques, flowers, and rock arrangements, 
Refurbishing and repurposing antiques and nick knacks, Spending hours 
metal detecting and letting the kids dig up the treasure, Spending time 
with family, singing, and especially reading poems and stories to all of
 his little ones.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie 
Steckline of Ogallah; his children, Darryl Steckline of Ogallah, Jeanne 
Werth (James) of Pueblo CO, Sandy Bittel (Kevin) of Highlands Ranch CO, 
Brenda Zemanick (Mike) of Inman, SC, Ron Steckline (Cynthia) of 
Claremore OK, Lori Dechant (Ray) of Dodge City, LaVon Wagoner (Tony) of 
Paola KS, Amy Choitz (Justin) of Hays, a brother, Don Steckline&nbsp; of 
Hays; 17 Grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Curtis Dechant and a granddaughter, Emily Werth.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday,
 June 28, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis with Fr. Dana 
Clark officiating. Burial will be 1:30 PM at the Kansas State Veterans' 
Cemetery in WaKeeney.

Visitation will be Monday 6 PM - 8 PM and Tuesday 9 AM until service time all at the church.

A combined rosary and vigil will be 7 PM Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's Church or Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.

Margaret Ann (Dickinson) Pruitt, 94, Kansas City, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

She was born February 9,1928 to John and Neva (Cooper) Dickinson of Glen Elder, KS. She graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1946. On January 26, 1947, she married Lloyd Pruitt and they made their home on farm near Barnard, KS. They were blessed to be married for 71 years.

Margaret served as church pianist at age 14 in Glen Elder Methodist Church. During World War II and while still a senior in High School, the Glen Elder School Board asked Margaret to serve as the music teacher to other high school students. Her pay at the end of the year was a lapel pin. Margaret was highly active in the Ada Methodist Church where she was the organist and Sunday school teacher. When she and Lloyd retired to Bella Vista, AR, she continued to offer her musical talents as organist at Bella Vista Christian Church. She remained faithful in her music service to the Lord for 67 years.

In 1989, Margaret was crowned Ms. Senior Bella Vista. Later that year, she was fourth runner-up in the Ms. Senior Arkansas Pageant.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brother Max, sister Joan and husband Lloyd.

Margaret was a loving mother to her four children: John (Marilyn) of Lenexa, KS, Kathy (Dan) of Kansas City, MO, Tom (Joni) of McPherson, KS and Joni of Little Rock, AR. She was blessed by her ten grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Janice (Jim) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. June 29, 2022, at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Ada, KS. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28th at the funeral home.

Marlyn married Charles N. Romm, Sr. on August 1, 1958, at Calvary Baptist Church in Salina. They were married for 60 years and had three children: Connie, Beth, and Charles, Jr. Marlyn faithfully served her Lord by playing piano at Faith Baptist Church in Salina.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Romm, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law Connie and David Hefner; her parents; and sisters Patsy and Twila.

Survivors are her children Elizabeth (Mark) Gragg and Charles Romm, Jr. (Nancy); 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 1 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery.

Eunice&nbsp;Agnes&nbsp;Hamel, age 87,&nbsp;former Hays, Kansas, resident&nbsp;died Thursday, June 23, 2022, at her home in Russell, Kansas.

She was born May&nbsp;29, 1935, in Damar, Kansas, to Armond Ernest and Ruby Amanda (Thibault) Newell. &nbsp;She married Robert Wilford Hamel on September 13, 1953, at Damar. &nbsp;He preceded her in death&nbsp;on January 29, 1978.

She worked at K-Mart in Hays for a number of years then worked at Wal-Mart for 28 years. &nbsp;Eunice grew up in Damar, and was a 1953 Graduate of Damar High School then attended the North Central Kansas Technical College&nbsp;in Beloit, Kansas. &nbsp;She moved from Wyoming to Hays in 1984, and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. &nbsp;She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, computer games, KU sports, the Royals, and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Cindy Berland, Damar, KS; Dean Hamel and wife, Cheryl, Thornton, CO; Bruce&nbsp;Hamel and Danny Keosythong, Russell, KS; her son-in-law, Danny Phillips and wife, Vera, Salina, KS; her 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; her brothers, Vincent Newell and wife, Cindy, Hays, KS; and Bernard Newell and wife, Cynthia, Concordia, KS; her four sisters, Martha Hero, Broomfield, CO; Irma Laurin, Almena, KS; Theresa Thomas, Beloit, KS; Kathleen Krier and husband, Gary, Gypsum, KS; her sisters-in-law, Delores Newell, Damar, KS; Lyla Newell, Beloit, KS. Linnea Newell, Denver, CO; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Dougherty, Salina, KS.

 </figure>Eunice&nbsp;Agnes&nbsp;Hamel, age 87,&nbsp;former Hays, Kansas, resident&nbsp;died Thursday, June 23, 2022, at her home in Russell, Kansas.She was born May&nbsp;29, 1935, in Damar, Kansas, to Armond Ernest and Ruby Amanda (Thibault) Newell. &nbsp;She married Robert Wilford Hamel on September 13, 1953, at Damar. &nbsp;He preceded her in death&nbsp;on January 29, 1978.She worked at K-Mart in Hays for a number of years then worked at Wal-Mart for 28 years. &nbsp;Eunice grew up in Damar, and was a 1953 Graduate of Damar High School then attended the North Central Kansas Technical College&nbsp;in Beloit, Kansas. &nbsp;She moved from Wyoming to Hays in 1984, and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. &nbsp;She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, computer games, KU sports, the Royals, and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include her children, Cindy Berland, Damar, KS; Dean Hamel and wife, Cheryl, Thornton, CO; Bruce&nbsp;Hamel and Danny Keosythong, Russell, KS; her son-in-law, Danny Phillips and wife, Vera, Salina, KS; her 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; her brothers, Vincent Newell and wife, Cindy, Hays, KS; and Bernard Newell and wife, Cynthia, Concordia, KS; her four sisters, Martha Hero, Broomfield, CO; Irma Laurin, Almena, KS; Theresa Thomas, Beloit, KS; Kathleen Krier and husband, Gary, Gypsum, KS; her sisters-in-law, Delores Newell, Damar, KS; Lyla Newell, Beloit, KS. LaVonne A. Thomas, daughter of Anton Havel and Emma (Kauer) Havel Conn was born May 20, 1934 at Cuba, Kansas and passed away on June 23, 2022 at Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 88.

LaVonne graduated from Belleville High School, Belleville, KS.

She was united in marriage to Clarence A. Thomas on June 17, 1956 and to this union, one daughter, Susan, was born.&nbsp;&nbsp; They lived in Camarillo, California for many years.&nbsp; LaVonne worked in banking for many years, and was employed by the Bank of Alevy until her retirement.&nbsp;&nbsp; They moved back to Belleville, Kansas in 1987.&nbsp;&nbsp; LaVonne enjoyed her family and loved music and dancing.&nbsp; She was a member of the Beta Delphian Study Club of Belleville, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Anton Havel and Emma (Kauer) Conn, husband Clarence Thomas, two sisters, Viola Drapel, Venis Dean Kasper, and one brother, Clarence Havel.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Montague of Salina, Kansas, two grandchildren, Catherine (Ernest) Lazo, Jason Montague, two great-grandchildren, Emma Lazo, William Lazo, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2022 at Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Kansas, conducted by Pastor Roger Walls.

Interment will be in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to Saint Francis Christmas for Kids or Alzheimer’s Association.

Doris Maxine Spence was born February 16, 1926, in Cherryvale, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Robbie Irene (Allen) Flood.&nbsp; She passed away June 23, 2022, at SunPorch of Dodge City, Dodge City, Kansas.

Maxine was raised in Cherryvale attending school there and graduating from Cherryvale High School.&nbsp; She then received her teaching certificate and taught for two years at a small country school before attending one year of college at Ottawa University, and one year at McPherson College.

Through the years, she worked at a defense plant during WWII.&nbsp; Other employment included cooking at Rockville School, driving a bus for Rockville School, cook at Sandstone Heights, Little River, and head cook at Good Samaritan Nursing Home for 11 years, Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; Her favorite, though, was being a wife and mother.

She married Richard Spence October 19, 1947, at the First Baptist Church in McPherson.&nbsp; He died October 20, 2009.

Survivors include her four children: David Spence, Hutchinson, Dick Spence, Galva, Monica and husband Clarence Bounds, Wright, and Denice and husband Greg Dater, Little River; four grandchildren, Joseph Potts and friend Erica Jackson, Dodge City, Ann and husband Marc Russell, Dodge City, Brian and wife Staci Dater, Hutchinson, and Tom and wife Amy Dater, Wichita; step-grandchildren Michelle and Kevin Williams, Dodge City, Bryan and Jamie Bounds, Hutchinson, and Jason Bounds, Hutchinson; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-great-grandchildren; sister Donna Sue Janzen, McPherson; and brother Jim Flood, Splendora, TX.
