Mike’s life began on November 21, 1930, at home, in Antelope, KS. He was the son of Alvin “Bud” and Verna (Bass) Loveless. 

Mike attended school in both Lincolnville and Marion. He was a member of the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. 

During his time in Army, Mike came home to marry LaVona Weathers on January 14, 1954, in Marion. The couple enjoyed 68 years of marriage. 

Mike was a farmer and rancher. He and LaVona raised sheep and grew crops at their Antelope farm. Mike also worked in the oilfields for a few companies and with his father-in-law. 

He was a member of American Legion Post 347 in Lincolnville and had been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Mike was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors hunting and camping. He and LaVona enjoyed attending the Walnut Valley Blue Grass Festival as much as they could. 

He is survived by his loving wife LaVona of Marion, children Judy (Roy) Houdyshell of Lincolnville, David Loveless of Lincolnville, and Tamara Suffield of Marion; grandchildren Sara (Randall) Batman, Michelle Loveless, Matthew Loveless, Alisha Loveless, Nikki (Ryan) Van Wort, Dustin (Kara) Suffield and Roxi (Rob) Santamaria; 14 great-grandchildren and his sister Thelma Green of Whitewater. 

Mike passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday July 23, 2022, at his home. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Saundra Loveless, granddaughter Carissa Houdyshell and sister Bessie Loveless. 

His family will gather with friends on Friday, July 29th&nbsp;at 11 a.m. for Mike’s memorial service at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. &nbsp;Masks are suggested for the service. Mike will be laid to rest in Lincolnville Cemetery with military honors. 

Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Jarry was a 1972 graduate of Concordia High School.

He was a lifetime farmer in the Cloud County Community.

He was a member of the NFO National Farmers Organization.

Jarry’s hobbies included woodworking, and fishing.&nbsp; He enjoyed making family and friends laugh and loved putting a smile on their faces.&nbsp; Jarry was a very giving and caring individual always lending a helping hand for those in need.

He is survived by his brother Larry L. Anderson, Concordia, KS; sister Susann Terrell (Howard), Kearney, MO; his two nieces, Misty Riley (Christopher) and their son, Brandon, Kearney, MO; Kimberly Kreidler (David) and their two children Max and Clara, Franklin, WI.

Shirley A. Carpenter, age 85, formerly of Concordia, KS, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Hillsboro Community Hospital, Hillsboro, KS. She was born&nbsp;at home&nbsp;on Jan. 19, 1937 in Randalia,&nbsp;Fayette County,&nbsp;Iowa&nbsp;to Chester True &amp; Alice Winifred (Treat) Hall.

She graduated from Neola High School in&nbsp;1955.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She married H. Corvon Carpenter on Sept. 2, 1956 in Neola, Iowa.&nbsp;&nbsp;They moved to Concordia, KS from Omaha, NE on Nov. 9, 1963 when Corvon started the Schendel Pest Control Company.&nbsp;He preceded her&nbsp;on Oct. 10, 2003.&nbsp;

Shirley was the bookkeeper for Schendel Pest Control and later the corporate bookkeeper for Bon Marche&nbsp;for years.&nbsp;She eventually began her own business, Payroll&nbsp;Plus,&nbsp;in 1990.&nbsp;&nbsp;She&nbsp;served as&nbsp;secretary and&nbsp;treasurer&nbsp;for the First Presbyterian Church until her retirement.

Shirley&nbsp;derived the greatest pleasure from&nbsp;making others feel special; one way was by creating over 300 personalized birthday cards a year for immediate and extended family members and friends for four decades.&nbsp;She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church,&nbsp;P.E.O. Chapter EV and Eastern Star where she was active and served in several officer roles throughout her life.&nbsp;She&nbsp;volunteered&nbsp;as&nbsp;treasurer for the Arion township.&nbsp;Shirley and Corvon had a passion for raising dogs,&nbsp;especially&nbsp;Alaskan&nbsp;malamutes, and&nbsp;other breeds.&nbsp;They were instrumental in beginning Sing Out Cloud County.&nbsp;

She is survived by her&nbsp;children,&nbsp;Sheri Parker (Rick), Moundridge,&nbsp;KS;&nbsp;Connie Markovich (Brian), Paola, KS;&nbsp;Randall Carpenter (Stephanie), Moundridge, KS;&nbsp;and Corliss English (Ted), Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Jean Leonhart, Cheyenne, WY and Kelly&nbsp;Piepmeier, Cookeville, TN and a&nbsp;brother, David Hall, Austin, TX.

She was preceded by her husband Corvon; her parents; a grandson, Mark Bledsoe and a brother, Robert Hall.

Leo Paul Valcoure, age 76, left this earthly life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Advena Living of Clay Center, Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; He was born on May 25, 1946 in Aurora, KS to Neal C. and Beatrice “Bea” R. (Goyette) Valcoure.

He graduated from Aurora High School. He served in Germany the U.S. Army.&nbsp; Paul worked as a fireman in Salina, KS until returning to Concordia to help his mother.&nbsp; He went to work for the Cloud County Co-Op elevator as a grain manager for over 30 years until his retirement.&nbsp;

He married Mary Beth Higgins in 1999 in Concordia.&nbsp; 

He was a member of American Legion Post #76, serving as commander, chaplain, 6th&nbsp;District Chaplain and a host of other offices and positions.&nbsp; He was a member of the Aurora Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; Paul enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

He is survived by his wife Mary Beth, Concordia; daughters Chrissy Eickmann (Mick) and Patricia Ketterman (Scott), both of Concordia; brothers Jim Valcoure, Salina, Bill Valcoure (Lisa), Concordia and John Valcoure, Clay Center; sister Ruth Reynolds, Rossville; grandchildren Marcus (Theresa) Eickman, Chase (Jordan) Streeter, Cassie (Austin) Peterson, Carlie (Jace) McKinney, Olivia Eickmann, Wyatt Barleen and Mason Eickmann and great-grandchildren Case McKinney, Maverick Peterson &amp; Burkley Lynn Streeter.

He was preceded by his parents; a granddaughter, Kyra Voss and sister-in-law Jane Valcoure.

Burt proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed landscaping and working in his backyard. In the summer he loved spending time outside especially at the lake fishing and camping.&nbsp; Burt was a gentle soul, always quick to make others laugh.&nbsp; &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Pat Mick and Jenelle Hoel; and brother-in-law Jon Hoel.

Burt is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kim Simpson; stepson Travis Krinhop; and many loving family and friends. &nbsp;

She spent most of her life in Salina. Telsey attended school at USD 305 where she received her diploma in May of 2022 from Salina South High. She was apart of the USD 305 Adult Transitions program. At Transitions, Telsey loved learning to cook in the kitchen, work on finances, house cleaning and many other activities to help her in the future.

Outside of school, Telsey loved meeting new people and always welcomed them with a smile and hug. She loved going on adventures with her family; whether she was bowling, swimming, gambling or riding the ”Mamba” at Worlds of Fun, Telsey always enjoyed herself with the biggest smile on her face.

Telsey is survived by her parents, Jamey and Dawn Dennison; her biological mother, Kim Horton, Trinity, TX; brother, Zakree Lindsey (Sierrah Neal); brother, Dakota Hitchcock (Leslie); sister, Taylor Parson; grandmother, Nana Teresa Dennison and grandparents, Wally Hitchcock and Terri Levin and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her niece, Stella Hitchcock and grandfather, Walter Horton.

Telsey will forever be remembered for her beautiful, strong, loving personality and most of all, her giving heart.

Stella Dawn Hitchcock

John Nicholas Kaus was born May 20, 1940, on the Kaus farm by Selden, KS
 to Nick Kaus and Mary (Kamphaus) Kaus. He passed away July 21, 2022, at
 his home in Seguin at the age of eighty-two. He graduated from the 
eighth grade while he was farming for his dad. He joined the Army on 
February 15, 1961 and served as a Specialist E4 at Fort Leonard Wood, 
Missouri for 2 years. 

When he returned home, he met and married Marilyn 
Joyce Ramsey on May 16, 1964, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 
Colby, KS. The couple began their married life together on the Kaus farm 
where John continued farming and raising sheep, which he loved. To this 
union were born five children: John, Margaret, Juanita, Marvin, and 
Nicholas.
 John never met a stranger and treated everyone like a neighbor. 
Whether he was shearing sheep or attending a kid’s ballgame, he would 
strike up a conversation and make one walk away feeling like they had 
made a new friend. John sheared sheep in Kansas and Nebraska. The 
highlight of his life was helping to shear 4-H lambs for the county 
fairs across Kansas. John had a passion for his family. Some of the 
family’s best memories are fishing at Sheridan County Lake and Norton 
Lake and attending county fairs as John loved to see the livestock and 
ride the rides. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American 
Legion, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Selden and the Saint Martin 
of Tours Catholic Church of Seguin KS. He served on the Parish Council 
and Finance Council and was an Usher. In his early years, John regularly
 served as an Alter Boy. John was an avid supporter of the American Red 
Cross Blood drive with eighty-two units of blood donated.
 John was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Nick; Sisters 
Melvina Carssow and Elanor Schiltz; and daughter- in- law JoLinn Kaus.
 He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; children, John Kaus

 </figure>John Nicholas Kaus was born May 20, 1940, on the Kaus farm by Selden, KS
 to Nick Kaus and Mary (Kamphaus) Kaus. He passed away July 21, 2022, at
 his home in Seguin at the age of eighty-two. He graduated from the 
eighth grade while he was farming for his dad. He joined the Army on 
February 15, 1961 and served as a Specialist E4 at Fort Leonard Wood, 
Missouri for 2 years. When he returned home, he met and married Marilyn 
Joyce Ramsey on May 16, 1964, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 
Colby, KS. The couple began their married life together on the Kaus farm 
where John continued farming and raising sheep, which he loved. To this 
union were born five children: John, Margaret, Juanita, Marvin, and 
Nicholas.
 John never met a stranger and treated everyone like a neighbor. 
Whether he was shearing sheep or attending a kid’s ballgame, he would 
strike up a conversation and make one walk away feeling like they had 
made a new friend. John sheared sheep in Kansas and Nebraska. The 
highlight of his life was helping to shear 4-H lambs for the county 
fairs across Kansas. John had a passion for his family. Some of the 
family’s best memories are fishing at Sheridan County Lake and Norton 
Lake and attending county fairs as John loved to see the livestock and 
ride the rides. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American 
Legion, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Selden and the Saint Martin 
of Tours Catholic Church of Seguin KS. He served on the Parish Council 
and Finance Council and was an Usher. In his early years, John regularly
 served as an Alter Boy. John was an avid supporter of the American Red 
Cross Blood drive with eighty-two units of blood donated.
 John was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Nick; Sisters 
Melvina Carssow and Elanor Schiltz; and daughter- in- law JoLinn Kaus.
 He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; children, John Kaus
 of Manhattan, KS, Margaret (Eric) Corby of Salina, KS, Juanita (Kenny) 
Erickson of Neodesha, KS, Marvin (Kerri) Kaus of Seguin, KS and Nick

Dale Jost (born Marvin Dale Jost) was born to Marvin Gerhard Jost and Rosella Franz Jost on June 28, 1944 in Reedley, CA. Dale grew up in a loving home and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was a teenager. Dale attended Hillsboro High School and later Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS. In college he played basketball, studied finance, and worked on wheat harvest crews in the summers.

While at Tabor he met the love of his life Katheryn Shirley Dick from Mountain Lake, MN. Upon graduating in 1966, Dale started his career in finance with the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Later that year, Dale and Shirley were married on November 25 in Mountain Lake, MN. In 1974, they welcomed twin sons Travis and Bruce into the family. Dale’s professional career with KDOT (his sole employer) spanned 42 years, 6 months, and 6 days. He valued stewarding government resources to better the roadways of the state of Kansas. Dale and Shirley were longtime members of Cornerstone Community Church in Topeka, KS up until their relocation to Hesston, KS in 2014. While living in Hesston they enjoyed meeting new friends, reconnecting with seasoned friends and being closer to their children and grandchildren. In retirement, Dale enjoyed cooking, good coffee, discovering fine foods, organizing his records, leading the family book club, and attending any and all grandchildren activities. In June of 2022, he traveled with Shirley to visit their son Travis in Burundi, Africa. Dale was thrilled to see Travis in his environment and while there received the joy of Christ through the Burundi people.

After an accidental fall, he had a successful surgery but succumbed to complications during the recovery. He died on June 22, 2022. A private burial service was conducted at French Creek Cemetery near Hillsboro, KS.

A Celebration of Life service will be at Ridgepoint Church in Wichita, KS on August 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to Tabor College, Multiply, or Mennonite Central Committee. Dale is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Travis and Bruce (Kimberlee), granddaughters Ella and Talia, sisters Loretta Neufeld (Gaylen) and Cheryl McJunkin (Larry), sisters-in-law Colleen Jost, Marion Graumann, and Verla Dick, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Woellhof, 93 died July 20, 2022, in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She was born on January 17, 1929 in Aurora, KS the daughter of Charles and Rosa (Bliss) Demanett.&nbsp; 

Dorothy was raised in the Aurora community before moving to Clay Center in 1947.&nbsp;

 She worked at the Swift Egg Plant and Sunflower Café before moving to Salina in 1950.&nbsp; There, she met and married Melvin Woellhof on October 29, 1950.&nbsp; They returned to Clay Center and Dorothy took a job as the cook for Garfield School.&nbsp; She retired from school food service in 1992.&nbsp; 

Melvin preceded her in death on December 29, 2007.&nbsp; Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and active in bowling leagues in Clay Center for over 40 years.&nbsp; 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and seven brothers.

Wanda’s life began on August 11, 1930, in Holdenville, OK. She was the daughter of Chris W. and Lillie (Hair) Haviland. 

She was united in marriage to George Waner of Florence, KS on August 14, 1949, and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. Wanda and George moved to Junction City where they were active in St. Xavier’s Catholic Church for many years. 

Wanda had a sense of fairness, honesty and compassion that will be sorely missed by her family. She also enjoyed baking and sharing goodies with her friends. 

Wanda is survived by her eldest son Andrew W. Waner of El Paso and daughter Teresa (Randy) Koster of Perry, IA and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Wanda passed away on July 14, 2022, at Casa Prima Vera Nursing Home in El Paso. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, and sons James and Kenneth. 

The family will gather with friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Florence, KS where a rosary prayer will be offered at 12:30 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. celebrated by Father Andrew Bergkamp. She will be laid to rest next to George at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Florence. 

Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.

She was the daughter of Chris W. and Lillie (Hair) Haviland. She was united in marriage to George Waner of Florence, KS on August 14, 1949, and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. Wanda and George moved to Junction City where they were active in St. Xavier’s Catholic Church for many years. Wanda had a sense of fairness, honesty and compassion that will be sorely missed by her family. She also enjoyed baking and sharing goodies with her friends. Wanda is survived by her eldest son Andrew W. Waner of El Paso and daughter Teresa (Randy) Koster of Perry, IA and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wanda passed away on July 14, 2022, at Casa Prima Vera Nursing Home in El Paso. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, and sons James and Kenneth. Ronald “Ron” G. Gosselin, age 62, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, in Concordia, Kansas. He was born on June 22, 1960 in Concordia, Kansas to Almer and Zella (Comeau) Gosselin.

Ron attended Concordia schools during his youth.

Ron was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, both of Concordia, Kansas.

Ron worked at the local Walmart for almost 30 years as a store associate; he helped with keeping the store shelves stocked and unloaded the trucks.

Ron was a avid KU fan; he loved the Jayhawks.&nbsp; Ron was a true fan of all sporting events in the Concordia community. He truly enjoyed attending and supporting the local Panthers and T-Birds activities.&nbsp; Ron also loved going to the local fairs and rodeos as a fan and worker helping keep the grounds clean and tidy.&nbsp; Ron enjoyed celebrating his birthday every year and having a party. He greatly appreciated all his support from the Concordia community.

Ron is survived by his sister Theresa Hoffhines (Michael), Salina, KS; sister Betty Hahn (Tom), Oviedo, FL; brother Gerry Gosselin (Cynthia), Salina, KS; brother Lawrence Gosselin, Oxford, KS; brother Don Gosselin, Beloit, KS; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, a sister, Patricia., and a brother, Dale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.

Richard L. “Dick” Cyphers, age 81, entered into rest on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born on March 25, 1941 in Concordia, Kansas to Mike and Dorothea (Lanoue) Cyphers.

Dick went to high school in McCook, Nebraska until his senior year.&nbsp; The family moved to Concordia and Dick was a 1959 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas. He also attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas studying business.

On April 23, 1961 he married Phyllis R. McGinnis in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; They celebrated 61 years of marriage this past April.&nbsp; To this union three children were born, Eric, Stephanie and Jeff.

Dick was a school bus driver for USD 333 Concordia for 42 years and spent the last 18 years driving the special needs school bus.&nbsp; He also was an area farmer until moving into town in 1988.

He was a past member of the Elks and Moose Lodge.

Dick’s hobbies include brick carving, where he had a hand in creating the downtown carved brick mural, crocheting, knitting, drawing, arts, and working with stained glass. Dick also loved to dance and he and Phyllis spent many years enjoying polka and ballroom dancing.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis and faithful companion JoJo of the home in Concordia, KS; son Eric Cyphers (Meliss), Yucaipa, CA; daughter Stephanie Scheele (Jeff), Bennington, KS; son Jeff Cyphers, Jamestown, KS; sister Patricia Wright (Dee), Palm Harbor, FL; nine grandchildren, Callie, Tami, Kimi, Brittany, Lucas, Linsey, Deric, Brittany and Marissa; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lee, Owen, Lexie, Reagan, Dillon, and Clayton.

They moved to South Dakota where she grew up and graduated from Sturgis High School, Sturgis, SD. She then moved to Denver, Colorado, and went to work at the Samsonite Suitcase Co. where she met her husband of 51 years, Stan Holmes. They moved to Abilene where she worked at Abilene Country Club, Bud's Tire, Jostens, and 25 years with Hurlbut Corp. Convenience Store. Connie retired from Abilene Public Schools as Garfield/Eisenhower kitchens manager. Connie is survived by daughter Tina Warford (Terry) of Salina, sisters Sheila Limbo (Bill) and Dawn Wagness (Ron) both of Sturgis, SD brothers Scott Maakestad (Ruthie) of Littleton, CO and Jim Maakestad, Sheridan WY, grandchildren Kenny Holmes (Skylar), Pam Steinbruck (Ben), T.J. racey Ann Sullivan&nbsp;passed away on June 25, 2022, she was 69 years old. Tracey was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 29, 1952.

 The family moved to Salina in 1954 to start her father's business, Jim Sullivan Chevrolet. Tracey truly enjoyed being able to drive all of the latest models of the Chevrolet line growing up and later on helped with the bookkeeping for the business until being sold in 1982.

After returning from a brief move to Denver to be close to her sister Terry, she had various jobs in Salina but enjoyed volunteering her time at the Scheme Restaurant for lunches the most; she always said that it allowed her to keep up with close friends. 

She was loved by her husband, Jeff, her family, and her many friends.

There was a graveside service held with only family members in attendance. Tracey requested that there be no service for her; instead she would like for you to do some random act of kindness for a stranger in her honor.

Tracey was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Eleanore Sullivan and sister Terry Sullivan.

Tracey is survived by her husband Jeff Lemaster and stepchildren Jamie Steele, Jacob Lemaster and granddaughter Josie Steele. She is also survived by her brother Mike Sullivan (wife Mary), two nieces and six grandnieces and nephews.

Doris "Dode" Marie (Moore) Gallion&nbsp;was born on August 9, 1930 in Hunter, Kansas to Forrest and Beulah Beryl (Baird) Moore of Hunter, Kansas. She was their third child. She departed this life peacefully on Saturday, July 16 at Pinnacle Park in Salina, Kansas at the age of 91 years. 

Doris attended school in Hunter and graduated from Hunter High School in 1948. She began teaching in Ash Grove after graduation. 

She was a baptized in the Hunter United Methodist Church. She became a faithful and active member of the church throughout her life in Hunter. 

On March 2, 1952, Doris Moore married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Gale Edward Gallion. To this union, three children were born: Brenda Gayle, Kirk Dale, and JD. Sadly, Doris lost her beloved Gale on June 12, 1959.

Once her children were in school, Doris worked at the post office in Hunter while taking night classes and summer school from Marymount College in Salina. With grit and determination, Doris graduated from Marymount with a BS in elementary education in 1968. She began teaching in Lincoln, Kansas the following school year. In 1978, she continued her career by accepting a 2nd grade teaching position at USD 299 at Sylvan Unified. She later would teach Language Arts for the school district. 

“Mrs. Gallion” taught hundreds of children throughout her and held a warm spot for each one. She thoroughly loved teaching the children. She retired from public education in 1993. However, the lessons she taught continue to this day. 

Doris was a member of the Hunter United Methodist Church, the Hunter Ladies Auxiliary and the Bluebirds. She was a 4-H cooking leader. Dode was a dancer! She spent many nights driving “the ladies” to area singles’ dances. She loved movies, especially the ones with Elvis Presley. Viva Las Vegas being her favorite! But her pride and joys were her children and grandchildren! What a supporter she has been through the years!

Dode was well known for a lot of things, many of which have to do with food! Her tasty pies and cookies (notably her coconut cream pie which became a staple at the Legion Hall for the Hunter pheasant dinners), her delectable divinity, the seemingly endless supply of ice cream and Schwann’s treats in the freezer and of course… her popcorn balls! Kids (and parents alike) would make their way to Dode’s front door on Halloween (and sometimes Christmas)!
