Imogene Mae Thornburg was born on Sept 12, 1929, at a rural farm east of Osborne. She was the second oldest of six children born to her parents, Francis &amp; Matilda (Hageman) Foster. She graduated from Baker County School District 12 in 1943 and from Osborne High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Franklin Eugene “Gene” Thornburg on Sept 12, 1948—her 19th birthday. 

They resided in Osborne until November 1959 when they moved to a farm southwest of Alton where they raised three children, Jeannie Renee (Steve) Ricard, Todd Eugene (Jill) Thornburg, and Janet Rae (Bernie) Schulte. Seven grandchildren added an abundance of joy to their lives: Jordan (Kari) Ricard, Samantha (Nathan) Ricard, Ashley Thornburg, Erin (Deavon) Thornburg, Janae (Nate) Flesher, Bransen &amp; Braden Schulte. Two great grandchildren &amp; two step great grandchildren complete their family.
 Imogene went to be with Jesus on August 19th. She resided on the family farm as long as she could before moving to Progressive Care in Alton and later to Parkview in Osborne. She missed the farm and the Alton community and longed to be there. She was known for her love of family and community. She was an avid supporter at athletic &amp; school events, served as treasure on many clubs and organizations, sent hundreds of greeting cards, and was always ready to mix up a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies and Rice Krispy treats.
 Imogene was a member of the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church, UMW, Alton Pride, a 4-year instructor for a Menninger Bible course on the Life of Christ, Mt. Ayr Camp Meeting Board, Sumner 4-H Club Leader, Osborne County FSA committee advisor, and Eastern Star, serving as the past matron.
 She was preceded in death by her husband in 2016; her parents; sisters Ila Joy in infancy and Iris Hahn; brothers Farrel Foster and Raymond Foster, brothers-in-law Jay Hudson, Clifford Hahn, Ted (Marvelene) Thornburg, Leroy Thornburg, and Stan Swander; sister-in law, Elaine Thornburg.
 Imogene is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Sandy Hudson of Osborne, sisters-in-law Karen Foster of Bloomington, Merna Foster of Osborne, Shirley Swander of Salina, Helen Thornburg of Hutchinson, Donna (Dan) Crofford of Oklahoma, and brother-in-law Dick (Dee) Thornburg also of Oklahoma, in addition to many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.&nbsp;

John William Woodruff was born on January 24, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John William and Eunice Mae (Tucker) Woodruff. He passed away at his home in Belleville on August 11, 2022, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 18 days.

John graduated from El Dorado (Missouri) High School in 1950, and joined the Army in 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1954, and relocated to Belleville, Kansas, where he worked for the City of Belleville in the power plant, where he retired as the plant superintendent.

John was united in marriage to Betty Francis, and to this union one daughter was born, Betty Lynn. John was later remarried to Dorothy Jeanette Carlton on June 17, 1982.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sena Lou Watkins and her husband Raymond, daughter Betty Lynn Rott. 

He is survived by his grandchildren Monica Meyerhoff (Mark), Sarah Jones (Brian), Elizabeth Spellman (Scot), Andrea Jurgensmeyer (Bryan), son-in-law Robert Rott, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, with Pastor Craig Roberts officiating. Visitation with family greeting friends will be one hour prior to the services, at the funeral home.

Friends may sign John’s book on Friday, August 26, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., at the funeral home.

A private, family inurnment will occur at a later date, at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Gregory W. Jacobson, 70, of Hope passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born November 19, 1951 in Hillsboro, Kansas the son of Donald and Ophelia (Rhode) Jacobson. 

Greg grew up in the Hope area, graduating from Hope High School in 1970. He received his bachelor’s degree in business at Emporia State University. Greg grew his passion for farming from his dad, farming alongside Don until he preceded him in death in 2013. 

Greg is survived by his mother Ophelia Jacobson; sister Wanda Lewis and husband John; niece and nephews Paul Lewis, Sarah (Lewis) Winterscheidt and husband Hank and Luke Lewis; aunt Edna Backhus;&nbsp; first cousins Rodney Mueller, Jody Heath and husband Ron, Brad Backhus and Bev Reid; second cousins Jennifer Jay and husband Mike, Jason Backhus and wife Alisha, Mike Mueller and wife Sheila, Danielle Heath and Tyler Heath. 

He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald Jacobson, two uncles, Lloyd “Butch” Mueller and Paul Backhus and one aunt, Phyllis Mueller. 

The family would like to thank Mary and David Rohrer, Tammy Campbell and Bud Dulohery as caregivers and friends of Greg during his last years. 

Funeral services for Greg will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Durham. Family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until service time. Greg’s final resting place will be at the Ashton Cemetery in rural Hope.

Jacobson, 70, of Hope passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born November 19, 1951 in Hillsboro, Kansas the son of Donald and Ophelia (Rhode) Jacobson. Greg grew up in the Hope area, graduating from Hope High School in 1970. He received his bachelor’s degree in business at Emporia State University. Greg grew his passion for farming from his dad, farming alongside Don until he preceded him in death in 2013. Greg is survived by his mother Ophelia Jacobson; sister Wanda Lewis and husband John; niece and nephews Paul Lewis, Sarah (Lewis) Winterscheidt and husband Hank and Luke Lewis; aunt Edna Backhus;&nbsp; first cousins Rodney Mueller, Jody Heath and husband Ron, Brad Backhus and Bev Reid; second cousins Jennifer Jay and husband Mike, Jason Backhus and wife Alisha, Mike Mueller and wife Sheila, Danielle Heath and Tyler Heath. He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald Jacobson, two uncles, Lloyd “Butch” Mueller and Paul Backhus and one aunt, Phyllis Mueller. The family would like to thank Mary and David Rohrer, Tammy Campbell and Bud Dulohery as caregivers and friends of Greg during his last years. Funeral services for Greg will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Durham. Family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until service time. Stuart Lynn Gronewoller, 50, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home, August 18, 2022 from a courageous battle with cancer. Stu was born July 25, 1972 to Robert Gronewoller and Sharon (Malsbury) Gronewoller in Hutchinson, Kansas. Born into a military family, Stu was a well-traveled youngster, moving to Long Island, New York as a toddler. Then they moved back to the Midwest, Lincoln, Nebraska, Salina, Kansas and Grand Island, Nebraska, and Iowa City, Iowa. Stu was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, and enjoyed spending time with his cousins, hunting and fishing. He graduated from Regina High School in Iowa City, Iowa and went into WIT in Sioux City, Iowa, where he graduated with a degree in police science. He started a career in loss prevention in retail after graduation. After moving to Pierre, South Dakota for a job with K-Mart, he met Amy Pickard in 1995. Stu and Amy were married on September 19, 1998 in Jefferson City, Missouri. They moved many times with his job to Omaha, Nebraska, Holland, Michigan, Spearfish, South Dakota, Sheridan, Wyoming, Meridian (Boise), Idaho, Downers Grove (Chicago), Illinois, and settling down in Salina, Kansas. Stu loved riding his motorcycle, driving race cars, camping, boating, spending time with kids and making many great friends. While in Salina, Stu enjoyed spending time with friends and had a lot of special kids in his life, including two exchange students, Vivi from Germany and Lea from Austria. He also was involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, where he met Payson and Amy’s little Trintity, who became a big part of his life. He also loved their four-legged kids Baxter, Blake, and Colby. Survivors include his wife Amy Gronewoller; father, Bob Gronewoller (Sheila) of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Steve Gronewoller (Sheryl), of Topeka, Kansas; and Scott Gronewoller, of Grand Island, Nebraska. He is also survived by nephews Luke Gronewoller (Megan), Blaine Gronewoller (Mindy), Alec Pickard, Brecken Sundahl, Kelby Graves, Ben Fierro, Riley Graves; nieces Brandy Gray (Shaun), Kember Sundahl sisters-in-law, Lacy Pickard (Jason), Rachel Graves (Matt); many great-nephews and nieces, stepfather Victor Allen, of Belleville, Kansas. Stephen D. McBee, 62, of Salina, died peacefully Sunday morning, August 21, 2022.

Steve was born in Kansas City, Missouri and adopted at two months of age by Charles and Ruby (Clevenger) McBee. He was a lifelong resident of Salina.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Charles, and survived by his mother Ruby, and two sisters, Sally Gutzman of Salina and Jane Shahi of Lawrence.

Steve brought joy to his family and friends. He is forever in our hearts.

Beverly became a cosmetologist; she entered this field because she loved people and cared about making them feel and look their best. Beverly instilled a sense of pride and confidence for all her clients.

Beverly's mission in life was to help feed thousands of children throughout her lifetime. She was president of the board of First Choice Support Services, Inc. for 30 years. Survivors include: Bobbie Felzien (Mark) of Kanorado, Kansas, Melanie Wilson (Dan) of Olathe, Kansas, Mindy David-Graybeal (Rick) of Salina, Kansas, Bryan David of Smithville, Missouri, K.R. David of Overland Park, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and her little dog, Cuddles. Beverly is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Guder of Lamar, Colorado, Billie Alderman (Harold) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Judy Alderman (Larry) of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her grandparents William and Alice Ellenberger, Henry and Nannie Walters; parents Roland and Zella Ellenberger; sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Roger Morris; daughter-in-law Lyn David; and brother-in-law Joe Guder. Survivors are his brothers Dean (Paula) Hamilton and Roy (Anne) Hamilton; sisters Delilah Smith and Cleta (Michael) Kinsman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born to Orville and Rosalie Rahe on November 6, 1963, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Larry was married twice. 

Larry’s hobbies were to collect toys, tools, and scrap iron and metal. He also enjoyed mowing and helping his friends in any way they needed him.

Larry is survived by his stepson James R. Stoutand his wife Heather, Chanute, KS; stepdaughter Tonya Stout, Salina, KS; six step-grandchildren; brother Gary Rahe, Tescott, Kansas; sister Sharon (Rahe) Medellin and her husband Thomas Medellin, Elk Grove, California; uncle to Gabriel Medellin, Phoenix, Arizona, and Thomas Rahe Medellin, Jefferson City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father Orville Rahe and mother Rosalie Rahe.

Marilyn Esther Rassette&nbsp;went to the heavens August 12th, 2022. Marilyn was born in Oakley, Kansas on December 13th, 1937. In her youth, she lived in Ellsworth, Wilson and Salina where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School.

Marilyn married Ronald Rassette on May 18, 1957. Together, they had three children:&nbsp; Angela Rassette (Jennifer) of Wichita. Michael (Terri) and their children, Alison, Lance and Lawson of Salina. Ronald Jr (Randa) and their children, Trey an Tory of Overland Park, Ks.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Rassette. Her parents Archie and Aermine Marcotte. Siblings: Francis Marcotte, Wilma Jean Marcotte, Dorothy Dozier, Donna Miller, and Vernon Marcotte.

Marilyn’s surviving siblings are Pauline Zvolanek, Mary Harris, Kathy Tidwell, William (Bill) Marcotte, Robert (Bob) Marcotte, Virginia Wakulich, JoAnn Phanenstiel and Kenny Marcotte.

Marilyn was a home-maker for most of her life until she went to work for USD 305 food service. She completed 24 years of service in 2006 where she retired from USD 305 ending her career at Lakewood Middle School.

Marilyn is best known for her sweet, loving heart…especially for her grandchildren. To many, she was only known as “Grandma.” Together, with Ronald (a.k.a. Grandpa), they loved to attend any activity Alison, Lance, Lawson, Trey or Tory were involved in… whether it was soccer, basketball, football, baseball and pretty much every school event. She loved watching all of her grandchildren participate and show off their talents. If someone needed to contact “Grandma”, she probably could be found next to a court, or by a ball field watching with a big smile on her face.

The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27th at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church located at 230 E. Cloud. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 26th at Ryan Mortuary. A rosary will be at 6 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 to 8. &nbsp;

Gregory “Greg” Kent Burger, 72, Sylvan Grove, Kansas, passed away peacefully on&nbsp;Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at home.

He was born on October 26, 1949, in Larned, Kansas, to Merle and Lois “Blase” Burger. 

He attended Shiloh country school through the sixth grade, then attended Lucas Elementary and graduated from Lucas High School in 1967. He played football, basketball, and was on the track team. The highlight was being on the 4x100 medley relay team that took 1st Place at State his junior year and playing K-18 Baseball in the summers. He attended Salina Area Vo-Tech, graduating with a Diesel Technology Certification.

After graduating, he married Shelley Humes, and to this union a son, Gregory Chad, and a daughter, Marcie Beth, were born. 

He worked for Sellers Tractor Company for 11 years as a heavy machinery mechanic and was divorced before returning to Lincoln County to farm with his parents in 1980. He took up residence on his great-grandparent family homestead. 

On August 29, 1983, he married Wilma Horinek at the Justice of the Peace, Salina, Kansas, with his parents and son as witnesses. To this union, a son, Jerome Wade was born. 

He enjoyed hunting, especially when he bagged a deer, with a little fishing thrown in and playing hoops with his sons.

He was preceded in death by his father Merle Dee, brother-in-law Roger Kvasnicka, nephews Clint Francis and Kurt Bretz and niece Kari Bretz.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Wilma Burger of home, only 13 days short of their 39th wedding anniversary; sons Chad (Terri Nuzum) Burger, Kensington, KS; Jerome (Mandy) Burger, Sylvan Grove, KS; daughter, Marcie Burger, Atwood, KS; mother Lois Burger, Ellsworth, KS; nine grandchildren, Jordan (Micki) Herman, Prairie Village, KS; Austin (fiance, Brittany Hackerott) Herman, Kensington, KS; Kirsten (Tyler) Burger-Kaus, Hoxie, KS; Jonathan Burger, Kensington, KS; Nichelle Armbruster, North Platte, NE; Marlana, Madalyn and Mallory Dobrinski and Stella Rose Burger, Sylvan Grove, KS; two great-grandchildren, Ryker Powell, North Platte, NE and Greyson Herman, Kensington, KS; sisters Cheryl (Gordon) Bretz and Barb Kvasnicka, Lucas, KS; nephew Kyle (Jennifer) Bretz, Dover, NH; niece Erin (Seth) Streit, Lucas, KS; and numerous other relatives.

Karen attended rural country grade school, Riley, Kansas and graduated Salina Central High School, Salina, Kansas in 1957. She was a lifelong member of Galva United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees and was involved in all aspect of church life. Through the years Karen worked as a school cook for Galva grade school, framer at the art gallery, McPherson, Kansas, and was an owner/perator over-the-road truck driver for many years.. Karen enjoyed doing art work, reading mystery books, bible studies, dancing and spending time with her friends and family. Karen Porter was united in marriage to Terry Lane Fay on Feb. 7, 1958 in Salina, Kansas. This union established their first home together in Salina, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and a daughter, Timothy, Teia and Daniel. Sandy was born in Dodge City, Kansas on December 29, 1934, a daughter of Berniece Irene (Reichenborn) and Dennis Beverly West. Sandy attended the Dodge City and Liberal schools and graduated from Garden City High School, Garden City, Kansas in 1952. She then attended Garden City Juco where she met her future husband and they graduated from Fort Hays State College with their teaching degrees. She was a member of First Christian Church (DOC) McPherson, Kansas where she was active in many capacities through the years. Through the years Sandy worked for several school districts including, Sublette, Alma, Lyons, and McPherson where she taught home economics at McPherson Junior High, McPherson, Kansas. Sandy enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, quilting, was an excellent seamstress, loved playing Scrabble, working all the puzzles in the paper every morning, playing organ and piano and loved spending time with her family. After retirement Sandy loved when her grandchildren would bring their friends over for lunch when they were in high school. Sandra Sue West was united in marriage to Bobby Lee Gibson on February 28, 1954 at Garden City, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Garden City while attending school, and later moved to Hays, Kansas where the couple finished their education. Their teaching careers took them to Sublette, Alma, Lyons, and moved to McPherson in the summer of 1971. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Rob, Tracey, and Brian. Donna Mae Davis, 86, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, in Cheney, KS. She was born October 22, 1935, in Ransom, KS to Hillard Grant and Ruth Mae (Wallace) Allen.&nbsp; 

Being a resident of Ellsworth, KS for the past 30 years, she also resided in Geneseo, KS where she raised her children.

Donna enjoyed many activities, but her favorites were building puzzles and gifting them to her many grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed a competitive game of Yahtzee or cards, but the times that she cherished the most were spent dancing to country music or even better, that of Elvis. Her recent travels to Memphis to visit Graceland and Sun Records along with many other spots with her son Mark were a highlight that allowed her to dance and see the home of Elvis, her music idol. Donna is survived by her sons Allen Dale Hudson (Teresa) of Abilene, KS, Mark Davis of Austin, TX, and Kevin Davis (Amy) of Lincoln, NE; daughter Debra Scheer (Rod) of Cheney, KS; brother Mike Allen (Jody) of Tecumseh, KS; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Don, Dean, Roger, Duane, and Kenneth Allen; and sisters Ruth Eloise Oriez, Karen Kay Shriner, and Janice Perkins.

Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m.

Kristi Sue Nienke, 56, passed away into the arms of her loving savior Jesus Christ on August 18, 2022 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS with loved ones at her side. 

Kristi was born on April 19, 1966 at Hoisington Lutheran Hospital to Clarence and Patricia (Klima) Nienke. 

She graduated from Ellsworth High School and then from St. John’s College in Winfield, KS. She then attended floral design school in Denver, CO, and degree in hand, she went to work for Wayne and Peggy Dubey at the Flower Nook in Salina.

Kristi then moved to Georgia to work for her uncle Bob, cutting hair at Ft. Benning in Columbus, GA. Then Bob transferred her to Ft. Riley. She built a home in Ogden, KS for herself and her beloved dogs. During her career, she was taking pictures as a hobby, but it quickly grew as she found herself as a published photographer. The highlight of her photography career was her pictures being published in the Wyoming Wildlife Magazine.

Kristi was preceded in death by her father Clarence Nienke, and her grandparents Frank and Emma Nienke and Emil and Alberta Klima. 

She is survived by her mother Patricia Nienke of Ellsworth, brother Scott Nienke of Ellsworth, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lisa Dale Hicks was born January 9, 1969 in Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, Kansas to Pauline Jones Hicks and Kenneth Dale Hicks. Lisa lived in Glen Elder until losing her parents when she joined Linda and Jack Clover’s family in Cawker City.&nbsp; 

Lisa graduated from Waconda East High School in Cawker City, Kansas. She received a degree in political science from Kansas University and was an avid KU Jayhawk fan. Lisa was a member of Glen Elder United Methodist Church.

Lisa’s birth was a happy surprise to her family.&nbsp; After waiting 25 years for another child, along came Lisa.&nbsp; Imagine Linda’s surprise when her sons excitedly told her she would be having a baby sister.&nbsp; Pauline realized that it was likely Linda would have to end up raising Lisa, but burying her wasn’t expected.&nbsp; Family friends were also happy for her arrival and still share stories of the excitement.

Thankfully Lisa’s parents were in her life long enough she was influenced by their good traits-Kenneth knew everyone, especially the farmers and their children.&nbsp; When a young man needed boots for his job, he gave him his new ones.&nbsp; Pauline was known as one of the kindest, most caring persons ever. She always went above and beyond to help others in need.&nbsp; 

Lisa had no children of her own, but through the years, she opened her heart and home to friends just as her parents had. Family pets were a big part of her childhood and an even bigger part of her adult life. Her dogs Nixon, Bandit and Biscuit were so special to Lisa, never far from her and she was always happy to dog sit for others.

Lisa spent many years employed in retail, painting and renovation.&nbsp; After the Joplin tornado, she worked for Am. Red Cross.

Sadly, Lisa ended up with many health issues and her earthly body wore out much the same as her mother’s.&nbsp; Lisa now has a new heavenly body free from pain and is reunited with both parents, who had loved her so much.

Lisa is survived by her sister Linda Clover; nephews Timothy (Rebecca) Clover, Chanute Kansas; Todd Clover, Cawker City Kansas; Amanda, Aaron, Alex (Rebecca); cousins and “bonus” sister, the family exchange student Nalini Naidoo, Brisbane, Australia.

Memorials were given to Post Rock Humane Society as a way of honoring Lisa’s lifelong love of her pets.

Service of remembrance and burial will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Glenwood Cemetery Glen Elder, Kansas with Pastor Earl J. Haggard Officiating.

Grey’s life began on January 26, 1968, in Macon, GA. He was the son of Karen G. (Ward) Buffkin. Grey is a 1988 graduate of Derby High School. 

He had been employed as an electrical lineman, cell phone tower installer and worked for the Wilbert Vault Co. in Wichita. 

Grey was united in marriage to Stacey (Johnson) Bowers on July 5, 1996, in Florence, SC. 

He loved fishing, dirt track racing, working in his yard, his Clemson Tigers, and Carolina Panthers football. 

His pure joy and love in life was his wife, kids and his grandbabies. His family includes his wife Stacey of Potwin; children Bradley (Cassie) Stalvey of Mt. Vernon, SC, Joe (Megan) Bowers of Wichita, Ashley (Kevin) Andress of Spartanburg, SC, Danni (Stan Spivey) Cook of Wichita, Harley (Chris Ushman) Bowers of West Columbia, SC, and Michael (Ale) Bowers of Wichita; honorary children Rebecca Blackstock of Tabor City, NC, and Matthew Williams of Potwin; 26 grandchildren and a sister, Kelly Duncan of Pageland, SC.&nbsp; 

Grey passed away at his home on Tuesday August 16, 2022. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Karen G.&nbsp; (Ward) Buffkin, stepfather Larry W. Causey and “Pop” Donnie R.&nbsp; Buffkin.

He was the son of Karen G. (Ward) Buffkin. Grey is a 1988 graduate of Derby High School. He had been employed as an electrical lineman, cell phone tower installer and worked for the Wilbert Vault Co. in Wichita. Grey was united in marriage to Stacey (Johnson) Bowers on July 5, 1996, in Florence, SC. He loved fishing, dirt track racing, working in his yard, his Clemson Tigers, and Carolina Panthers football. His pure joy and love in life was his wife, kids and his grandbabies. His family includes his wife Stacey of Potwin; children Bradley (Cassie) Stalvey of Mt. Vernon, SC, Joe (Megan) Bowers of Wichita, Ashley (Kevin) Andress of Spartanburg, SC, Danni (Stan Spivey) Cook of Wichita, Harley (Chris Ushman) Bowers of West Columbia, SC, and Michael (Ale) Bowers of Wichita; honorary children Rebecca Blackstock of Tabor City, NC, and Matthew Williams of Potwin; 26 grandchildren and a sister, Kelly Duncan of Pageland, SC.&nbsp; Grey passed away at his home on Tuesday August 16, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents Karen G.&nbsp; (Ward) Buffkin, stepfather Larry W. Causey and “Pop” Donnie R.&nbsp; Buffkin. Cherylyn (Cheryl) Joy Dexter, age 72, entered into rest on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on October 30, 1949 in New Orleans, LA. To Albert J. and Joy L. Sindibaldi.

She married George H. Dexter, on December 28, 1974. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2017.

Cheryl graduated High School in New Orleans.

Cheryl was a very caring mother and a homemaker.

She had a passion for taking care of all animals especially her beloved cats.

Cheryl is survived by her stepson Michael (Balari) Dexter of Concordia, KS; stepdaughter Sylvia Dexter of Clifton, KS; her five grandchildren, Melissa, Ashley, Zach and Jared; ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Henry Dexter, daughter Angela Groves, a grandson, Addai Dexter, a stepdaughter, Valerie Woodall.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Saturday August 27, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m.- 10 :00 a.m.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.

Gage has lived in Superior, Nebraska; Concordia, Hugoton, Liberal and Abilene, Kansas. While he was growing up, he enjoyed fishing, wrestling, basketball and football. He was also involved with Boy Scouts. Gage had a passion for computer technology and a desire to become a computer engineer. He upgraded computers to make them better and even built them from scratch.

Gage attended Abilene High School and participated in debate, drama and choir. He was a proud graduate of Abilene High School on May 22, 2022. He was a hard worker with an enduring sense of responsibility and, he loved his dog, Bailey, very much. Gage was preceded in death by his great-grandparents John David and Mary McGuire, Phyllis and Ronald Collette, Frank Junior Thomas, James Walter Carpenter and step-grandfather Steve Chartier.
